May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Even in death, you continue to inspire. Thank you for a "Job Well Done". Peace, Mark G. in Bayonne, NJ
I work on a website and for the museum of American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor (ADBC) and people wonder how I can work on a subject that involves horrible atrocities.
It is because of the message of hope that Albert Brown gave to others and the the triumph of the human spirit he embodied.
When I had a lot of catastrophes in my life, I turned to the lessons about hope that this particular group of war veterans gave forth, and carried on. Thanks for your inspiring life, Albert Brown.
Rest in Peace Doc Brown, you were and will continue to be a true American Hero and this country owes you a debt of graditude.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
We want to thank you for your sacrificies. You are such an example and inspiration for us. We love you and will miss you.

I was privileged to play Taps for my cousin Al Brown yesterday at his memorial service. While the term "hero" is often over used, this gentleman was indeed a true WWII hero. Thanks to the Honor Guard from Fort Leonard Wood for their fine job and to the support of the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders. Please take time to read about Dr. (Major) Albert N. Brown and discover what a unique & wonderful man he was. Thank you.
All the best to the Brown family. May the God of all comfort be with you as you cope with your loss.
It was a honor to stand guard for this hero! (Rowdy Hill) Patriot Guard Rider. Standing for those who stood for us.
I spent time with my uncle, a WWII soldier in Patton's brigade, prior to his passing documenting his military activities, and know the difficulty those men had in sharing their experiences. I wish I had had the chance to know Mr. Brown, speak with him, and thank him for his service as well. He must have been an incredible man with a giant-sized spirit. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, and with the families of all those other servicemen who were a part of the death march. I'm sure they are reminded of the horrible experiences suffered by their loved-ones each time they hear or read anything regarding the Bataan Death March. We can never understand or invision the hardships suffered by those men, but can certainly sympathize with the suffering they endured and rejoice in the success many of them went on to experience after their return to the US.
God bless this family and may God bless this hero and take him into his arms.
Thanks for all, that you've endured, on behalf of keeping the world a better place, for your children & grandchildren to live in, as well as, all of our children too ! God Bless your Soul !
I'm with the Illinois Patriot Guard Riders, all I can say is God Bless your soul..
I wanted to take a moment to send my condolences. Five years ago I was helping at a fund raiser at the Butler, PA Veterans Hospital and had the pleasure of meeting Abie Abraham, a fellow soldier and survivor of the 1942 Bataan Death March. I was shocked that after 12 years of private school education and many years later, never hearing about this tragedy in our history. I was 54 years old when Abie shared his experiences with me. I bought his book and researched this “missed” part of my education. My heart aches for the men and their families during this horrific episode of war. Doc, may you rest in peace and realize the true legacy you have left behind.
To his family and friends, may you find comfort in your memories and smile each day going forward when you see yourself doing something or saying something that would reflect Doc’s lifelong teachings. Thank you to a true American hero.
What an incredible story of a man's determination. As you share this story I pray it will be used to inspire our troops as they come back home to the USA and know they too, can overcome. God's blessings to the family.
In our hometown we also have a Bataan Death March HERO. He is 98 years old. While there is still time all citizens of the USA should be saying to those WWII veterans, "Thank you for your brave and sacrificial service to our country".
My condolences to the family of Mr. Brown. Such an inspiring story, I wish 'Forsaken Heroes of the Pacific War: One Man's True Story' would become required reading in all high schools. A true hero!!
THANK YOU "Doc" for your exemplary HEROISM when we needed you most! GOD BLESSED you.
God bless you and your family. Thank you for your service to our country. You are an amazing hero Doc Brown.

To the Brown Family,
My Uncle was also in the death march and he survived. Much like Doc, my Uncle didn't talk about it until later in life. I'm glad to hear of another American Soldier who was able to move on with life after surviving such a horrific ordeal. RIP Doc.

Rest in peace, Mr. Brown. Thank you for your service to our country.
M. Kelly, Illinois
What a story that everyone should learn from.
I thank him for his servce and because of his willing to fight I have my freedom and can sleep at night. We are losing our World War 2 vets so fast these days. What brave men they were as are all our vets.I know we have men and women in harms way this very day and they are doing the same thing and I am honored to be able to show my support these days as a Patriot Guard Rider. It is such a humbling experience to take part in honoring those that come home. RIP Albert Brown. The Lord has gained a good man in heaven!!

What can you say about a hero such as "Doc". He should be an inspiration to all out Veterans, especially the guys that are fighting for our freedom at this very moment.
105 years old; that is amazing in its on right. You can bet from the time he entered the service until his death at 105 there was not a day that went by that that is thoughts were not on that "Death March", and seeing his friends and comrads tortured, and slain..What a soldier, WHAT A MAN.
We salute your veteran. Our condolences for your loss and gratitude for your loved one's service to our country.
Thank you for your service to our great country. My uncle, also a Death March survivor died a few months ago. Now you and he are together again with the Lord.

RIP Albert "Doc" Brown, my military brother. My condolences to your family. America is free because of the brave.
Doc Brown was a hero in my eyes also. Those people went thru pure hell there. My dad, Jimmie L. Jarrell, was also a soldier in the Bataan Death March. He was born in 1917 and passed away from injuries and illness received during his POW yrs., in 1968. He never talked much about it to us because he said it was so horrible. The few things he ever said about it were terrible enough. He only ever talked about it to his other military friends. He was a hero to me and to all. I miss him every day. He was my best friend. My condolences to Doc's family in this sad time. I will be praying for you all. Wanda Jarrell Harding Columbus, Ga.
A true hero....may God Bless my friend.
A true American Hero. What a legacy for us all. Rest in peace.
A true hero! God Bless You!
Condolences to Dr. Brown's family. We have a local man who is now 98 years old. He also survived the Bataan Death March. How these men went on to live good lives is worthy of being taught in high school history.
Albert "DOC" Brown you were a true hero and very brave american soldier. May god
bless your soul. Carlos Carranza, San Antoio, Texas.
Dr.Brown may have been the one who helped my brother, Donald F. Ingle, get medical supplies to help the men in his section during imprisonment.Donald,21, said he was an"older man":kind, compassionate and brave.Their experience were the same. Doc was revered by my brother. I am so glad the world was blessed with his presence for 105 years! God Bless all our troops of every generation.
I am truly inspired by your service to your country. You are the definition of a American Hero. The town of North Platte, Nebraska is proud of you. God Bless You and Thank You. May you find the peace you so deserve.
What an amazing life! Rest in Peace!
Praise God for Albert Brown. America owes its survival to patriots like him. How we need such courageous men in this present time to lead us and protect us from the enemy! May you rest in peace now from your many years of suffering, done willingly for this nation. Condolences to your family.
Condolences to the Brown family on their loss. May the God of all comfort be with you.
What integrity, endurance and complete trust in his Creator to help him get thru the worst of atrocities. May it comfort the family to know that Albert will return to the days of his youthful vigor-Job 33:25. His life of exceeding the average life expectancy of man of mere 70-80 yrs to 105 proves that our Creator has a wonderful future for obedient mankind so his original purpose of a paradisaic earth without war and suffering will finally be realized - Isaiah 2:4/Psalm 37:29.
Thank you Doc Albert Brown, for your service to our great nation. You surely are an epitome of a great American, to honored and idolized. I was born in Corregidor, in 1935, my father was in the Philippine Scouts, Army of the U.S. My mother and six of her siblings were in the civilian side of the Bataan Death March; walked from Mariveles to Orani, Bataan.
I am writing a book about us civilian, the agony, hardship maltreatment we suffered from Dec 1941 to the end of our Death March, Thank you once again, Doc Albert Brown.
Chamberlin M. Febre (Citrus Heights, CA)

God Bless you, sir. We are deeply grateful for your sacrifices. May you rest in peace.
Thanks for what you did. I was so young I didn't believe at first and it was before TV, we saw it at the theater, the "New Reel". I would hide behind the seats.
I have a grandson that is very interesting in WW2, I've learned more from him..........
In my husbands home town he told me there was a "HERO" from that
group, I always wanted to meet him but I was never given the honor.
Thanks again what you did.
We'll fly the USA flag more often because of you and the rest of the
men that was with you.

Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is near.
Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know
God is near.
I salute this true American HERO. May he now be at the peace which is forever.
i salute you for your bravery and sacrife mr brown for our freedom to keep this nation free. to condolences to the family .
To Mr. Brown's Family,
May you find peace at last. May Our Lord reward you for all you endured through the years. We lost our father this July 19. He was 89 and suffered with Alzheimer's over 10 years. He, too, was on the Bataan death march and a POW for 3 1/2 years. He, also, wrote of those horrible years. He forgave those involved and started over with a wife and four children. May God bless both of them and remember that all wars are horrific and should be avoided if at all possible!
Olathe, KS (daughter of Stephen N. Kramerich)
God bless "Doc" Brown and the men of Bataan and Corregidor. I salute their courage and their service to the country. They endured brutal treatment and witnessed unspeakable horrors at the hands of the Imperial Japanese military
May you rest in peace, great soldier! You truly are what the "Greatest Generation" was all about. I am humbled just reading your harrowing story. My own uncle from Questa, NM was a Bataan Death March survivor, as were many from the state of New Mexico. I often heard stories of the awful treatment the Japanese inflicted on our American Heroes, and it breaks my heart.
God will bless and comfort you in Heaven because you have already seen hell at a place called Bataan
I salute your veteran. My condolences for your loss and gratitude for your loved one's service to our country. We have lost another hero, but his memories and services to our country will last forever. A job well done and he is a credit to our military services. May this Old Soldier Rest Now with Other Deceased Veterans.
You will always live in our hearts and prayers.
An inspiration to us all, a light to open a path through the darkness, a guide on what the value of life really is. Happiness is only real when shared, and Albert "Doc" Brown continues to share his happiness, guiding us who have served to our own sanctuaries of happiness. I have visited the Philippines and the path of the death march. It was sad for so many, and through it all, the Filipinos were our friends. God Bless Albert "Doc" Brown, and all the men that suffered through it. Also God Bless the Filipinos that stuck by the US, and awaited the return of General Douglas MacArthur, which later won the country back from the Japanese.

I just read Dr. Brown's obituary. It made me cry to think of the horrors he endured, but endure he did. He is a model of the American soldier and American citizen. I did not know him, but his bravery makes me proud to be an American. Dr. Brown was a stand-up guy!! Honorable and strong in the face of many setbacks. May Dr. Brown rest in peace with his Lord, Amen and farewell, Dr. Brown. You were among the American Greats!!
What great inspiration! To have given so much for his country and going on to defy the odds. May God truly bless this man.
God bless Albert "Doc" Brown. What he and others endured in the Bataan Death March and years of incarceration, starvation, disease, and constant abuse by the Japanese, is almost beyond words. For those Americans who want to know from a first hand source more about it, please read Sgt. Abie Abraham's book "The Ghosts of Bataan Speak." 98 year old Abraham, another survivor of the March, still lives.
America has lost a wonderful hero. We should all thank him in our hearts and know that his journey into God's hands was short. I pray for him and shed a tear.
What a great man. What a legacy, he's given so much to us all. Never forget "Doc" Brown and all of those who have seen and endured unimaginable pain and suffering to secure our freedom. I pray today's soldiers returning home find solace in Mr. Browns life and find the same hope and strength as he did to "come out on top".
Doc Brown's last march is into the hands of God.

We salute men of his stature and their sacrifice is something that we shall never forgot. The sacrifice is something that we can never repay. I have a great regard for Mr.Brown, although he suffered many things he remained strong.I also thank Mr. Brown for helping me to continue living in a free country.God surely blessed him with a long life, now he is in the restful arms of God .
My cousin, Marshall LaForet, was also a Batann Death Camp survivor. Sadly, my cousin never recovered from the injuries he received, emotionally and physically, during his time of capture. It is wonderful to know that others were able to soldier on and become the men they did in spite of the atrocities they suffered. May Doc Brown's family celebrate such a great man.
Honor, courage and sacrifice beyond belief are the hallmarks of this great American. May he rest in well deserved peace.
We have lost another "quiet"hero whose strength and sacrifice will always be remembered. He was Blessed.----our country was Blessed and now heaven is Blessed. As a fellow D.D.S. I am honored to be aware of hero and patriot -------Albert "Doc" Brown .
My uncle Leon Tice was a survivor of the death marches, and was imprisoned at the same time as Mr Brown. My uncle was a Medic, and was used by the Japanese in their medical. Then he would smuggle drugs into the camp to help save our own troops, as well as the Filipinos in the camp. He escaped one time and was recaptured. He passed away a couple of years ago at the age of 91. There was a book written, called the Ghost Soldiers, that tells about their liberation from the camp. He died in Santa Barbara, Ca.
I am so inspired by Doc's courage and positive outlook and attitude. He was an American hero. Hats off to all the men and women who serve our great country. Thanks for all you do.
Kathy Delaney (Orland Park, IL)

Doc Brown's courage and determination shows what the human spirit can endure and still survive. What an American hero.
To Doc Brown's family...my generation owes him and his comrades more than we can ever repay. I hope he was able to forgive the Japanese for their atrocities. I doubt that I could have, had I suffered what he suffered at their hands. His story has inspired us all. --Gene S. (son of WWII soldier)
"Doc" Brown is a true hero. My uncle who I am named after died in a Japanese POW camp. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman." --Thomas Paine, The American Crises, No. 1, 1776
God alone knows the blessings He saves for those who have lived through so much. We must all force ourselves, if necessary, to read and feel what our heroes past and present have gone through, seen, felt, think about. And I will add this man's story to my books, such as Ghost Soldiers.
May youl Soul Rest in Peace
He was a wonderful hero and an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for your sacrifice.
What an amazing man! May you rest in peace and enjoy your heavenly reward. Lori (Savannah, GA)
What a hero! Gen. McArthur said "Old soldiers Never Die They Just Fade Away" My dear hero you walked all that 60 miles from Bataan to West Manila. You have a place in heaven where all the war heroes are seating. You will be welcomd home. I wish I had the words to describe my feelings of respect, and my sense of debt to this man. May your Soul Rest In Peace>>
Being from North Platt,NE was part of what made him. That area produced some truly remarkable people, like the Canteen Ladies that, until the war was over, served the "boys" on the trains going through North Platt on the way to war. They supplied food, cakes drinks and fellowship FOR FREE. Doc Brown had that stamina that the people of that area showed so openly. I believe it was born in him. What at ruly remarkable man.
Mr. Brown and the members of this Death March and the long months in prison are the ultimate Heros in the history of this country.
We own so very much to them that we cannot every repay them for their sacrifice. These were real men!!!!! Thank you Mr. Brown.
DEAR FAMILY AND FRIENDS

To add to my earlier comment, I had an uncle (Uncle Bob Mitchell) who was also on the march. He too did not talk much about that experience, but I remember that his household did not discard leftover food, but made another meal from it.
my dad was also in WWII, you are both heroes in my book, along with the many other men & women who gave their all in that war! You can finally rest peacefully in God's arms, with all the glory you deserve!
From a Grateful American!!!

What an inspiring man. Bless you, Doc. I am sharing his story with women I know who have breast cancer. To the family, thank you for sharing his story.
I feel at a loss for any adequate words to celebrate this man. First we must acknowledge those who didnt make it thru that horrific episode, for we know Doc always remembered them and honored them in his words and thoughts.
What an awesome life from beginning to end! I am glad he was finally able to relate his experiences to all so that we may understand and not forget the incredible good and evil Man is capable of eschewing.
Thank you , Doc, for your service and helping to make my life and my children's lives free of the tyranny that attempted to take over our world at that time. I am VERY sure your rewards in Heaven are great! I will tell my kids and their kids (if possible) about Doc and the sacrifices made by so many. The greatest of the greatest generation....RIP sir..
Thank you for your service, to are beloved country.
I grew up with a father who fought in WWII. When we were old enough to understand, he spoke openly of all the many heroes that he met throughout this difficult war. They came from every state and from every level of this countries brave people/families. It is absolutely true that some gave all, but all gave some. Because of our father's many stories of that War, we have passed on to our children and grandchildren, what we learned and the pride and respect to have for all solders. We salute and honor the life of this brave soul.
"Doc" was/is a true hero!
Our hearts and love got out to Doc Brown and his family. What a great hero and human he had to be. We too lost a family member in Battan, such great heros. Our love and thoughts the Graham family

Obviously a terrific representative of the "Greatest" generation...
What a true American hero...everyone needs to read how he endured this terrible ordeal. Blessings and peace to Mr. Brown.
What a wonderful story and hope they make a movie out of it some day.You will for sure rest in peace.
Dr. Brown was a delightful gentleman, whose stories of life at times horrified, but always uplifted me. Each and every conversation I had with him brought tears and hope, and many laughs. He had much to share of the awful days of war, but much more to share of life and family and memories that were very precious to him. As two veterans, we always spoke of matters of War, but Doc truly loved to speak of his whole life and especially his family. My heart goes out to you, his family. And to the little ones among you now and those to come--who will some day read of him, and realize what a legacy they have--what a blessed and even charmed life he did live. May God be with you now in your grief.
'Old School' American hero
thank you Mr. Brown for being who you were. Your life is an inspiration. Americans thank you, I thank you.
I, too, wish to thank you for your service to this country. Having read so much about the Bataan Death March the only regret I have is that I never had the honor of meeting you personally. Rest well, you were so brave and strong!

Please accept my deepest condolence .it's good that Mr. Brown had the opportunity to live to be 105 yrs. Old . The scriptures say that our days are 70 or 80 .Psalms 90:10 .

What a man of honor and perseverance. A true American hero and a true role model. War can be glamorized, for movies, but there was no glamor in Dr. Brown's story. Only a will to live and the fortitude to find enjoyment after his experience. A life well lived. It's an honor just to read his story.

An amazing man and an amazing hero. May he rest in peace.
It's a miracle you survived all that and were able to make a record of it for succeeding generations to know what happened during that awful time. I have read another survivor's diaries and memories of the Bataan March, and I look forward to reading yours. My Dad was stationed at NAS Deland, Florida, a swamp land near what is now Disney World, where he suffered with Malaria and had recurrences for years afterward. I believe you have had quite a homecoming with all the relatives and friends who preceded you to heaven.
I give my prayers to his family and say goodbye to a true American Hero!
What a trually enspiring life! May you now rest in the arms of Jesus, you deserve it. God bless you for the courage you have shown.

You are truly a hero! Rest now and be with the ones you have loved... My deepest admiration goes to you and the ones like you..
Once again we have lost a hero but known only to his family. Hopefully his story will spread due to the book that I found out about after reading the headlines of his passing. What a remarkable man. I have traveled the Bataan Route in the Philippines. Every kilometer is marked by a concrete post. As beautiful as it is, it is hard to imagine the horror and terror that Doc Brown had to endure with thousands of others. He and the others that went before him will be in my thoughts today.
EN USA Retired
His body was in prison, but not his spirit. What an encouraging legacy. RIP from a Vietnam Vet.

What can you say about a man like Doc Brown. There are no words in the english language. It would have been a high point in my life to have known him. My condolences to his family.
Our prayers are with your family. I live in Louisville, KY but was born in Marion, IL and read this obituary (which was in the Courier Journal paper in Louisville) to my husband. Mr. Brown sure endured a lot, more than any of us can even begin to imagine. God has him in his arms now and no more suffering. D & H Farris
What can I say that hasn't already been said? May he rest safe in the arms of Jesus. Truly a hero.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you enter the gates of heaven. My father was captured by the Germans when he was shot down over Ploesti in 1943. He escaped the Germans on cruthes with a broken leg and scranel in his hip. You old birds were tough as nails and had no surrender in you. God Bless this great country for producing men of your calibre. Hopefully your story is a lesson learned by our next generation that our God and country are something worth fighting for.
God Speed Doc Brown!
