I had the great pleasure of meeting Mr. June and his wife Virginia in a restaurant in Salt Lake City about 3-4 years ago. Mrs. June told me the whole story and gave me two cards, one with his current picture, and one with his picture when he was in the Marines. I spoke to Virginia at length and she gave me additional information about their lives, part of which included Colorado where I'm from. I wasn't quite sure whether or not to believe what she was telling me about Mr. June. I knew the story but was amazed that I would meet someone of such great stature. The next day, my rep and I were traveling north and passed Hill AFB. We decided to stop in and go through the air museum and in one corner was a complete history of the Navajo Code Talkers and there, to my surprise was Sgt. Allen June's name. I still have both cards and would like to thank Mr. June for his service and sacrifice to our great nation. Rest in peace hero.

My deepest condolences and all of God's Protection, Love, Faith and Hope to the June family and to SGT.June. I am truly sorry for your loss, but I stand in AWE of this Dine Warrior.
I am the weird female who along with my little neices and nephews (whom I would ALWAYS make them stand at attention, and salute as you would ride by in a motorcade!) I tell them it is because of you, SGT.June, and other warriors that they are able to safely sleep at night, with no worries of being abducted, or Mom or Dad being abducted or harmed, and always feel safe in this Beautiful country, it is because of you, SGT.June, that my neices and nephews run free, I don't have to worry for my safety, I can pray how and where I want, that my neices and nephews are free to go any school they want, free to play sports, It is because of YOU, SGT.June!!
I won't be able to give you a final salute as Taps is playing on Wednesday, and as your Soul walks past everyone, with their tears coming down their faces, I know God and His Holy People will walk behind you and wipes their faces!! This I know!! As the gentle breeze leaves with your Soul, your Marine brothers will be waiting with hugs and high fives on the other side.
Rest in Peace, shi chaii.

Once more the bell of freedom has lost some of its tone. We were blessed with our freedom because of sacrifices and heroic efforts by men like Allen June. I fear that when the last of the greatest generation has passed into eternity, we will have lost something very special.
I encourage all to speak to these souls and learn from them so that it can be passed on to the future generations, to let them know that freedom is not free, but purchased often at the greatest price.
I salute the June family and the Code-Talkers. God bless all of the June family!

I first learned about the Navajo talk code in the movie Windtalkers with Nicolas Cage I enjoyed the movie so much I went out and bought it. I watched it again this past weekend. My grandfathers mother was full Cherokee and another relative to my grandfather was full Cherokee. I inherited the high cheek bones and nose from my grandfather and Dad that looks full blooded Cherokee. I wish I had got the dark skin but Im still proud of my blood line. And proud of the Navajo Nation for joining the Marines and doing a Nation proud. This message is for Mr. Junes family and the other Navajo that served their Nation proud, thank you for your dedicated service. In my heart you will never be forgotten. God Bless you all. sdr

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

A sad day for the Code Talkers as another of the great men who helped fight for our Country during WW II. He will be missed but, I am glad that they finally made their work during the war known by the movie that was produced about them. This will be known to the younger generations for years to come and may it never be forgotten. Thank you for your service and dedication to the USA.

To the Allen June famliy, from a 45 year old Veteran from Texas, I would like to express my condolences. Men like Sgt. June will never be forgotten! Just last week, I saw a movie of the Code Talkers. I hope that some day if it hasn't been done yet, that a special memorial in Washington, DC. can be made for these men. There service to this country was unique, and without them the mission wouldn't have completed!
Thank you and to the Navajo Nation for protecting America.

Sincerely,

Gerardo Ortiz.

Marines are warriors wherever they are - in battle or guarding the Gates of Heaven - and I know where you are, Sergeant June - guarding those Pearly Gates. Keep your Dress Blues looking sharp - the Top Sergeant may be just around the corner looking to cause problems for unsuspecting lower enlisted!

Semper Fi, Sergeant June. Thank your for all you have done for all of us!

My condolences to your family - losing a great warrior who is also a family member is difficult for all of us. If it weren't for the Dineh warriors, we would have lost the war in the Pacific.
