Hey Tony, remember when I told you I got accepted to Cal Poly? You said you were proud of me!!! That really meant the world to me... Sorry for not keeping in touch, but thank you for cheering me on when I needed it the most. You really were a great man.
God Bless You Tony!!!
I was given the honor of meeting Mr Engel by Joe. Mr. Engel was remarkable man of a remarkable generation of Americans. Bakersfield was truly blessed by Mr.Engel's Cristian example. After a long highly
accomplished Christ centered life God
called Mr. Engel. Jesus must have greeted
"Tony" with "Well done good and faithful servant!" ( Matthew 25:21)

I will always remember Tony as a loving, gentle and kind man with a quiet chuckle and rich sense of humor. What a blessing and inspiration he was to us! Another guardian angel joins the troops.
Joe, Laura and families...as believers we come to understand that death is truly a birth into eternal life. What a beautiful long life Tony was given and he lived it well. We will miss seeing you, Joe, walking with your Dad on the bluffs. But these are great memories to have and to hold. May The Peace of God Be With You Always,
I was saddened this morning to read that Tony had moved to Heaven, my heart is less than before. I had the privilege of meeting Tony in the mid 1960's and he soon became a friend and mentor. A visit or meeting with Tony was like listening and learning from your favorite teacher or professor, you came away much more enlighten than before. I have many fond memories of Tony and the people he surrounded himself with at his Engineering Firm. Tony was a true gentleman, great engineer and I was proud to consider him my friend.
May God continue to comfort and bless the Engel Family and the many hundreds of friends and associates that found their lives blessed by their friendships with Tony.
With sincerely condolences, Doug Eddy
God's blesssings and peace to the entire Engel family as we all remember a very wonderful man who passed on such a special legacy in his Christian walk and in his business dealings. With love and prayers. Don and Suzy Friesen
I KNEW TONY IN THE 60s AND 70s, HE DREW UP THE PLANS ON SEVERAL BUSINESS AND HOMES FOR ME IN AND AROUND BAKERSFIELD AND LAMONT, HE WAS ALWAYS ONE I COULD DEPEND ON AND TRUST. TONY WAS A GOOD MAN. DOYLE REYNOLDS... Ardmore, Ok,
Such a kind and a great man to deal with. He truly was a joy to be around. I loved hearing about the basketball games that he and Joe had together. I know Joe didn't let him win all the time!! He raised a great son. We are all fortunate to have had Tony in our lives. I will miss him dearly!
I would like to say, I am glad I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Engel, and his children.
I didn't look at my reason for being there as a job but, more as providing some type of laughter, and help with Mr/Mrs. Engel. I was amazed how close they were to their 3 children.
All I witnessed was love among them to which I didn't have growing up.
Now that is what I will remember from this day forward. Mrs. Engel I'm here for you if you need me.
How saddened we were to hear of Tony's passing.....but, rejoice with you in his home-coming. Just got out of Stanford Hospital, so, I'll be unable to attend his services....but, we often think of the GREAT Example set by the entire Engel Family. June, Kim, Joe, Heidi....we thank you for sharing Tony with us these many years. The early days of office and project sharing made indellible, positive memories on what it is like to be a Husband, Father & Christian Role-Model.

I was stunned yesterday to hear of your passing. I will always remember your kindness and patience with me when I was first getting started as a contractor. I valued the wisdom of your counsel over the years and your patience in imparting it. I learned a great deal from you about engineering, but I learned even more from you about what it meant to be a person who always acted with integrity and kindness. I look forward to seeing you again, in that better and brighter place.
Did not know Al (Alton) but he sounds like someone I would have enjoyed knowing. I know that he is happy looking after his family still.
