Your laughter will live on forever!
I became a fan of Art Carney after watching a marathon of the Honeymooners on TV Land soon after his death. He was so funny! He could hold his own with Jackie Gleason which is a pretty impressive thing to do. He absolutely deserved all the Emmys that he won for his work as Ed Norton. Art was also a very versatile performer. He could do drama as well as anybody else. He and Jackie Gleason were the best at what they did. There has never been another couple quite like them. I can still hear him saying "Hi Ralphie boy." There will never be another Art Carney and no one could every play Ed Norton like Art did.
I'm saddened by this loss who brought laughter in my heart of the old times i've watched the honeymooners the remembering of the times when i was a child he will be missed by me and all other oldtimers
of the fifties era your buddy
'Hey there, Ralphy Boy'
How can I ever forget that line.
Norton and Kramden: You weren't just TV images. You guys always came right into my living room.
You were the best.
Art Carney was one of the funniest men in television and movies. I have had many laughs at his expense and I would like to thank him for bringing laughter into my life for so many years.
How sweet it was! And, away we go.............!
To The Carney Family,
His style, humor and grace will be greatly missed.
The entertainment world has lost one of the "GREATEST".
The Romano Family,
Thank you for the many wonderful memories. Art Carney was admired by my family for many years as I was growing up and the reruns will continue to keep us laughing for the years to come. Thank you.
Thank you for all the laughs when I was sad. Captain VIDEO! lives on, =~)
What a terrible loss! Thank you for your time, talent and laughter. You have been a cornerstone of family tradition - even in syndication. My dad was a NYC cop, as a special treat he would wake the kids up when he got home so that we could all laugh with you. My family golfs and we all remember to "address the ball". You will be cherished always.
Thanks to a great Star. He will be missed. I remember attending school with his grand kids, and seeing him come in to the cumberland farms store where I worked at down town Westbrook. That was exciting to me, but thanks for the great TV memories.
To the Carney family. I am so sadden to hear of Art's death. I remember as a child (living in Michigan) watching him on Saturday nights, and laughing so hard at the show. It was good clean fun for the whole family to watch. May God give you all comfort in your time of sorrow.

My wife & I are truly sorry for your loss of Art!
When the Honeymooners was being taken off the air, my wife & I joined an organization "RALPH", on long Island, which was formed to help return the program to channel 11.
Art’s character, (Norton), has brought my family and good friends so much laughter & happiness for so long. I received the entire 39 episodes of the Honeymooners as a Christmas present, which we watch often and know every line. Art’s timing and delivery is still as funny today as it was in the 50’s. Thanks to film, Art’s talent and memories will live on, so many generations will have the chance to experience this warm and loveable character.
Jackie Gleason was a great talent, but “Norton” will live on forever, in all of us!

It was touching somehow to see Art Carney's obituary in the Courant just like an ordinary citizen of Connectict. Made me feel like he's once of us. I thought he was terrific. My condolences.
My deepest condolences to the entire Carney family. Unlike so many, I did not know Mr. Carney as the actor but rather as the person- husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor, and he was charming and kind in every role. He'll always be a pleasant memory of my childhood, as is the entire Carney family. May God bless all of you at this difficult time. You are all in the prayers of myself and my family. Much love.

To the family of Art Carney,
Although you're sad, having lost someone you loved, know that many of us are saddened by his passing. He was one of a kind, funny as hell, leaving me teary eyed in laughs, not sadness. Remember him for his contribution to our lives, not in sadness.
Thank you Mr. Carney for the many hours of laughter that you gave the American public. Ralph was quite fortunate to have had such a friend. You shall never be forgotten. God's speed.
Your Fan in Cleveland,
Like thousands of others I am deeply saddened by the death of such a great actor/comdedian. We babyboomers are losing all the true "superstars" who gave us joy in our lives. May Art live on in the lives of the younger generations.

One of The Greatest Comedians of all time, and you continued after The Honeymooners. As was mentioned before: I miss the clean TV Shows: December Bride, Topper, Amos N'Andy,My Little Margie, Etc. All we had was a 12" black & White TV. Rest In Peace. Greet My Relatives in Heaven.
Just wanted to say I will always remember the way he made me laugh.
Rest in Peace Art
You've given me so many laughs for so many years. Now that you and "Ralphy Boy" are together again when I hear thunder in the sky - it's just God and his Angels rolling around the clouds with their laughter. God watch over this wonderful man.
It was a hot summer night in Flatbush(Crook Ave) section of Brooklyn,New York, and I was visiting my grandparents for the weekend.Being a young Black male, about 10 years old ,the year was 1965, I wondered what was making them laugh so hard. It was Art and the other cast members talking about working in the city sewers and driving the city bus. There on that small Black and White T.V. I saw them watching the t.v show The HoneyMooners. I was hooked,as I realized that if these two men could make Grandpa and Grandnana stop doing what they were doing and watch this show,, well, it had to be special. Thanks to the memories. I look forward to seeing you on the RE-RUNS,and will connect you to the days of visiting my Grandparents.
p.s. I guest you and my Grandparents can share so of those Moon jokes now... God bless and thanks.
Lawrence Martin, MSW,,, Augusta.Ga.
I was shocked and sadden to read that Art Carney had passed. He made for many happy days. I always watched and enjoyed his performances. I especially loved the episodes where he would dance trying to teach Ralph. God Bless.
we are deeply saddened by the passing of mr carney. He was simply fabulous in the honeymooners wth all the other stars. i watched as a child. we will miss him very much. thank you art carney for being you.
A man that brought laughter and tears into every home. You will be missed greatly.
Dear relatives of Art Carney: Art was my cabin counsellor at Camp Wonposet on Bantam Lake, CT in the summer of 1938! He was already a funny guy. When I went back to the Camp for an Old Boys reunion about 1989 the then director was quite proud of his having been associated with Wonposet in its past. The Camp has recently closed for good, as we learned when visiting Bantam last summer. I guess single-sex camps are no longer popular with the young folks. Best regards, Ted Wright (Wonposet camper 1934-38)
You were blessed with a successful
and full life!
Thank you for touching so many generations with your comedic talent!
You will never be forgotten!
Rest In Peace!
We were brought up seeing The Honeymooner's and the tradition went on to our children. We also belonged to "RALPH" an obscure organization on Long Island to resurrect and preserve the longevity of The Honeymooner's.
Mr. Carney you will certainly be missed.
Eric & Gilda Hilton
To the family of Art Carney. Art (Ed Norton) was like a part of my family. Jackie Gleason was a good friend of my late Uncle, his name was Brother Peter of the Capuchins. The Honeymooners was always playing in my home. My brother was constantly doing "Ed Norton" impersonations. A few years ago I was up in Westbrook and a friend pointed out Art's home on the water. I got very tingly and was almost tempted to knock on the door, however I knew that most celebrities don't like that so I decided against it. It really brought me back to when I was a little girl and we got to go for a ride in Jackie's car with my uncle. We also met the first Mrs. Gleason once when visiting my Uncle. Art will be missed and he is now making everyone in heaven smile.

My deepest sympathies to the Carney family. Art gave my late grandmother and I hours of enjoyment over my formative years. He is more than a comedian, his portrayal of various characters in the years after "The Honeymooners" proved that he was an actor's actor. Again, my condolences to you all.
A devoted fan
I know you're in heaven now but I want to thank you for all of the wonderful years you entertained us. You'll be sorely missed by all! My friend, Tonya Riddle, left for heaven on November 11, 2003. Watch over her, would you? She was a high-spirited little redhead who lost her battle with brain cancer.
Take care and God bless!
Thank you for your many talents and all the laughs. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
May you rest in peace.
My sympathy to the Family. You were the Greatest.
I truly believe that God has a purpose for each and everyone of us. Art Carney was blessed with the great talent of making people laugh...and his work will live on forever thanks to reruns.
May this new generation watch and appreciate his genius work. If there was an entrance exam into heaven I do believe he would get a 100% score for talent performance....
Seems like all the "greats" that I grew up with are passing on...remember "December Bride", "Sky King", "My Little Margie" and now "The Honeymooners"...my those WERE the good ole days. Like all the others who have gone before, you too will be greatly missed by all of us Baby Boomers...REST IN PEACE!

A classic comedian, the likes of which will never be seen again. Truly one-of-a-kind. I will miss him, as I am sure many millions of his fans will.
I was sadden to hear of Art's passing. He will be greatly missed.
I can remember when I was young and watched Art and Jackie every Saturday night. we would laugh and almost fall off our seats, they both really knew how to entertain their audiences, both on TV and Big Screen. We'll miss you Art, but I know your now entertaining the people upstairs. Give them your best as always.

My Condolences to the Family. His memories Will live with us forever
What can one say but, "Good-bye and thank you," you will always live on, God Bless you and the HONEYMOONERS.
To laugh at ourselves is a strength. To make us laugh at ourselves takes courage, talent, imagination and daring. Art, your methods were clean and kind and joyful. Thunder will now seem like belly laughs from way up high. Thank you for your gifts and life
work. When my time comes I hope that there will be smiles and joy, from many folks not because I have gone but because, like you, I have been among them.
My condolences and deepest sympathy to Art Carney's family and friends. The laughter will continue with every repeat of a Honeymooner's show.

I lived in the farm house on Magna Lane when your family vacationed there in the '50s. Respecting your privacy, I never-the-less admired Art's obvious love of his children which I saw in his outdoor play with them as I passed bye going to and from the beach. It made his public work shine for me with the best of humanity.
Our deepest sympathies to his
Thanks for the memories and all the
Our deepest sympathy to you all. Art Carney has given us a wonderful gift of humour and humanity. He will be dearly missed.
It's sad when a legend passes but I can also say he made me laugh and he also made me cry. I have seen all of the early Honey Mooners as well as the later shows on The Jackie Gleason Show. I laughed as a child when viewing the later shows and as a young man watching the older shows. He made me cry in the movie Harry and Tonto. It's still one of my favorites. My condolences to the Carny family. He really touched my life.
MY DEAR EILEEN,
SO SORRY TO HEAR OF YOUR LOSS.
CHERISH THE SWEET MEMORIES, AND THE GOOD TIMES. THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING YOUR DAD WITH SO MANY PEOPLE WHO LOVED HIM. HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED IN ALL OUR HEARTS... HE WAS TRULY A SPECIAL MAN.

I feel as though I've lost a member of my family. I have always had a soft spot for Art Carney. His humor and lovability came through in every performance. The world always seemed a little better just knowing that Art Carney was still around in it. G-d bless you Art...the world has lost a great one.
I always loved watching the Honeymooners over the years and thought how great it would be to have neighbors like Ed and Trixie Norton. Thanks for the memories. You will be missed.
Art "YOU WERE THE GREATEST". THANKS FOR ALL THE JOY AND LAUGHTER YOU BROUGHT TO US.
WE ALL WILL MISS A GREAT MAN,WHO WAS A GIANT AMONG COMICS.......
I remeber watching the honey mooners when I was a child, all we had was black & white T.V.'s then and the Honeymooners was one of my favorite shows, that I was allowed to watch. People that live to make people laugh are one of lifes treasures, we sure will miss you Art.
Art Carney will be missed... while my children were growning up.. our family nights included a Saturday night with "The Honeymooners". Art's portrayal of the witty character of Norton was certainly enjoyed. Rest in peace Art.
To his family n close friends my deepest condolences are with u all.
I will always treasure all the good memories Art brought to us as an entertainer, for the world knew him as ED Norton, the man he portrait in the Honeymooners, I will always remember all the laughs he gave us, and rest asure that those laughs will live on in our new generation,
R.I.P. Art Carney (Ed) n I do hope u have ur lulu with u.....it's sad to know that we have lost 2 great entertainer this year, 2 of my very own favorits, John n Art, made they both R.I.P and made they hang together now n give great laughter to those in the havens.

Oh, how we will miss you.
WHAT A COMEDIAN HE HAD YOU LAUGHING JUST BY THE WAY HE ENTERED THE SCENE. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHIES TO HIS FAMILY.
You certaintly were one of a kind. Whenever I talk about the honeymooners to "younger" people - I always tell the golf lesson skit.
Another star in heaven.
God bless you & your family.
Once again we have lost one of the greatest actors from my younger years, where there was good, clean tv watching.... He will be sadley missed.....I will keep the family and friends in my prayers
In my high school history classes I show a few episodes of The Honeymooners when we study the 1950s. My students love Norton. We always will.
Art made Jackie Gleason. He was a great actor, and one of the funniest people on TV. I still enjoy re-runs of The Honeymooners. God bless you Art.
Funny men never die. Every time we see them on TV we remember them. Art Carney will be remembered for generations to come
Norton, your the greatest!!!
"Dizzy Dean warms up in the bullpen before the game but he still pitches." Just one of the countless, tireless, killer lines from one of my favorite characters of all time.
Thanks for the memories Art, you were one of the best. I'll miss ya.
sadden over the lost of a great man,

Tony and Bette Spilotro
Art Carney great actor made honeymooners work like Gleason will be miss and is now in heaven makin god laugh he be miss
He was very funny. I enjoyed the HomeyMooners and still do today. Good clean fun and jokes. Ralph & ED cracked me up without all the cursing,...etc. My thirteen year old daughter loves that show! A program the whole family can watch. To bad the Hollyweird big wigs cant produce good clean comedy like that today!!. Mr. Carney will be missed.
I have had hundreds of hours of joy from Mr Carney.Fortunately,we can still enjoy his humor in reruns for many years to come.Even though I have seen the Honeymooners episodes several times,I still laugh from the genuine humor-Rest in Peace my friend-
I treasure the many memories I have of Art Carney in his portrait of Ed Norton. It was a truly artistic piece
of TV history.
Memories of Art Carney brings back some of the best memories in our lives. When families were close and everyone sat around the television laughing and crying, together. Programs that were decent and you didn't hear a cuss word every five seconds. When everyone sat down to the table, together and enjoyed a home cooked meal, none of that fast food stuff. Families, today, don't know what they missed. Thank God for the time we were born. Thanks for the memories.
His sense of humor was the best ever and He'll greatly be missed.
The Honeymooners was and still is the greatest comedy TV show of all time. I grew up watching re-runs of this show every night as a little kid, and again during it's popular resurgence on the old Channel 29 in the mid-80's. Art did many other things besides this show, but he will forever be remembered as Norton. Thanks for the memories Art.
A great show, and a true comedian in a time where T.V. was wholesome and not dominated by sex, and the world was truly a better place than it is now. God bless ya, Art! Now you and Jackie will have 'em in stitches up in Heaven!
No other could take his place when even outstanding in any play, movie and TV.
To his family: We have loved him for a very long time. He will be missed. He brought such joy into our lives. We send our prayers.
Like most of the entries previously published, I too fondly remember Art "Ed Norton" Carney, but it was portrayal of Santa Claus in a Twilight Zone episode that gives me my fondest memories. As with everything he did in the public eye, Mr. Carney did not disappoint.
Our lives will be a little sadder with the loss of Art Carney. God bless you and your family.
MY MOM MET ART WHILE LIVING IN OLD SAYBROOK. SHE HAS SINCE PASSED AWAY, BUT I REMEMBER HER FONDNESS FOR ART AND THE STORIES SHE TOLD ME. HE WAS A WONDERFUL, AND TALENTED HUMAN BEING. ART WILL BE MISSED BY MANY PEOPLE WORLDWIDE. MY HEART GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. MRS. WELZ
"Hello, ball!" Goodbye, Art. Thanks for the indelible memories.
Ed you were one of the greatest sewer worker ever, The Honeymooners are still one of my favorite TV programs, the 4 of you made such a great comedy team, clean humor and hysterical. Now you can be together again with Ralph and Alice, and Ralph can never again tell you to gettttt Outtttt. May you all rest In peace. A fan In Dracut.
I loved the way it took him forever to sign his name, etc. He was so funny! Even to this day I still laugh at his mannerisms.
I just loved Art Carney, on the Honeymooners. I also saw him in person many years ago in Cleveland, Ohio. My deepest smpathy to his family , he will be missed.
You made us laugh! Thank you!
I HAVE WATCHED ONE OF THE GREATEST COMEDY DUOS SINCE MY CHILDHOOD IN THE 70'S. WE LOST A GREAT ONE TODAY...YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL.GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
You were the " Greatest". whenever I am feeling low I pull out the many 30 minute episodes and laugh so hard I forget about the lows and feel the highs. The episode where Art and Jackie shared a TV was the funniest scene I have ever seen. It ranks just above the Golf lesson. Art will be missed but at least I can see the memories.
I grew up with the honeymooners and loved Art Carney. He was my favorite actor because he was such a natural...he will be missed.
May God Bless your kind and gentle soul. You brought alot of joy and laughter to so many. Thank You. And God Bless your family as well.
God Bless you, your memory is captured always via your art.
While I enjoyed and appreciated Art Carney; I'll remain most appreciative of his work for the enjoyment he brought into my parents' lives.
I can remember watching Art as
a little girl.He was remarkable.
Extraordinary man.He made us all
laugh. And we will mess him alot. Now
he is with Jackie and Lucy and the
rest of our great one's.
We will mess them all.
"TO THE MOON ALICE" WOULD NOT BE AS POPULAR WITHOUT ART CARNEY'S CONTRIBUTION TO THE HONEYMOONERS SHOW
Thanks for all the funny memories and for teaching us all how to laugh even when the chips are down.
Thank you for the laughs, for the memories, for the example to laugh at ourself..I loved watching you...plf
Always good for a hearty laugh no matter what mood I'm in. Thanks.

To his family & friends, I want to express my sorrow, & let you know that this man brought fun & laughter to me as a small boy, & later in life for his roles in so many movies. He will be missed. Men such as this will always be missed.
GREAT ACTOR will be missed
My favorite movie was "Harry and Tonto". When his cat Tonto died at the end, Art (Harry) said "so long kiddo". To you Art...I say so long kiddo. You were the best Subterranean Sanitary Engineer in the business.

I was in the vocal group on the musical Honeymooners in the 70s. Art was a beautiful, caring person who will always be loved by those who knew him. How sweet it is to know he and Jackie are together again, making heaven ring with laughter.
My parents both passed away in 1998 and the "Honeymooners" was, without a doubt, their all time favorite tv show & brought them many years of enjoyment & laughter together. I'm sure Art Carney has joined all his millions of fans that have passed before him, including my parents, Mike & Anna Marie & has left millions of us behind. He was a very talented & gifted man. The "Honeymooners " & "Ed Norton" are timeless classics! I am sorry to hear of his passing.
I too use to watch the Honeymooners with my father everynight. I would make sure I was home by 11:30 each night just to watch my Dad laugh. He had passed away in 87 and everytime I would watch the Honeymooners I could see my Father laughing. Take care of my Father for me and make him laugh again. And THANKS for all the Memmories. You will be greatly missed.
Hey, Ralphie Boy! (smile)
I want to pass on my condolences to you and your family. I grew up watching Art on the Honey Mooners and still enjoy the reruns. I met Art Carney many years ago at a fund raiser in Hartford. He played the piano and started with his warm up song of "Way Down A Swanny River" I nearly died laughing, thinking of the Honey Mooners episode where he played that song everytime he warmed up to help Ralph win a TV contest. Connecticut loss two great Icons, Kate Hephburn and now Art. May the good Lord console you during yourtime of grief. Thank you.
