Dear Ethel, Steve, Carole and Chuck,
We were so saddened to hear about the passing of one will we always hold dear to our hearts, our "Reb Papa"...many knew him as Mr. Food, but we knew him and loved him as the dynamic "Tevya" some 40 years ago in Triune Musical Company's production of "Fiddler On The Roof"...Arthur LIVED the part and all his fellow actors felt like we were all part of his family...a feeling that has never left us and never will...to me, he was "Papa"...he "blessed" our engagement as we became engaged during rehearsals of our first running of "Fiddler" and came back married for the second running...Arthur sang "One Hand..One Heart" and "Sunrise, Sunset" at our wedding...it meant so much to have he and his family with us to celebrate our commitment to each other...Arthur and his family have been an inspiration to us and will miss the wonderful times we had! Our hearts go out to Ethel and the whole family...Please know you are in our prayers...Keep strong...Arthur has only left Anatevka to go to a new and better place...Love to you all...

I received one of Mr. Food's recipes in November 1989 for "Apple Butterscoth Bread". A longtime neighbor moved away, and when they visited, their young son, Ricky, would stay with us for a night. Dear Ginsburg Family, Please accept our deepest sympathy and heartfelt thoughts. We are from Albany and Temple Beth Emeth. We talked last February about both of us having Pancreatic Cancer. Even though, I did not know Mr. Ginsburg personally, watching how much he enjoyed sharing a passion that he obviously loved always brightened my day and made me smile. I dedicated the carving of the turkey yesterday to Mr. Food because whenever he was on television around Thanksgiving to carve the bird, my grandmother and aunt would call me and say he is on WEWS Channel 5. It always amazed me that when you take out the wish bone, the breasts would literally fall away from the carcass like a loaf of bread and allow you to make beautiful slices. And it is soooo good.
To the family of Art Ginsburg,Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. May you look forward to a time when this verse comes true "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. I had the pleasure of meeting Art at the UM cancer facility in Deerfield. He and I were both in the waiting room. I was there for a check up. He noticed me when the techs I had known came over to greet me. He said, "I think I will like this place." I recognized him right away, and we talked. What a great man. He was carrying one of his cook books, and he asked if I would like it. "Only if it is autographed, I said." I came home with the autographed book which I love and proceeded to call my sisters to tell them of the wonderful personality I had just met. My Justin Beiber. May he rest in peace.

It is especially poignant for me to learn of Mr. Ginsberg's death on Thanksgiving morning. The thing I remember him and his television segments for most, is teaching me how to carve a Thanksgiving turkey. After watching that segment and having the courage to attempt my first bird, and succeeding, I have been assigned the task for decades. Thank you Art. RIP

In my book, there will be noone that could walk in his shoes or fill his shoes when it comes to his TV show of recipes. I'm sure that they will bring someone in to fill his spot but it will never be the same for noone will be better than Art Ginsburg when it comes to his recipes and his style of presenting them & keeping them simple and 'oh! it is soo good.'
I am sorry that he had to leave his family, relatives, friends & fans but I am sure that he has gone to a better home called "Beulah Land, Sweet Beulah Land" "The Promise Land" of our one and only Lord and King. There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I first worked with Mr. Food while I was a TV director for WAST-TV in Albany, many, many, moons ago, that was before he was seen all over the country. He had a little 15 minute cooking show that aired once a week. From there he would become the Mr. Food we all know today. He was a funny, down to earth kind of guy who everyone loved. I worked with him in 2000/2001. When that camera came on he WAS "Mr. Food".
Off camera, Art was a wonderful, funny man. He told the best jokes and knew where to get the best Thai food in every town. At my office one day after shooting some video, he was signing a book for me, when we saw a couple of fire trucks pull up outside. Obviously we went out to see what was going on. It turned out to be some Coral Springs Firefighters doing hydrant inspections in the area; they of course recognized Art and began chatting about cooking at the firehouse. He asked them to wait for a moment, we then walked to his car, grabbed a box of cookbooks from the trunk and he proceeded to sign one for each of them; he then shook each of their hands and thanked them for what they do. It made their day and probably his as well.
He was known around the world but was our special “local” star here in South Florida. To his dear Ethel and family, my sincere condolences, he will be missed by so many.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jay Michaels, Delray Beach
