As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
I would like to extend my condolences to the Modell family. Losing a parent is never easy. Mr. Modell contributed a lot to football, but I'm sure his sons would say his biggest contribution was being a father. Just know that God is with you to help heal your heart, and He promises
I extend my deepest sympathy to the Modell family. A special "thank you " for bringing football back to Baltimore and for the RAVENS! You and your wife served humanity well! True servants!
Art Modell is in the Hall of Fame of our Hearts for his Innovativeness in the NFL as well as his many Charitable Contributions and for being an All Around MVP Nice Guy.
My home is a couple of hundred yards from the Modell residence. While I never got to know Mr. Modell personally I remember well that he always went to the trouble to answer the door in person on Halloween every year. He made a special effort to entertain and engage the little kids--my son included.
Say hello to Johnny U for me Art.
My deepiest sympathy
rest in peace purple pride
Mr.Modell, thank you for all your contributions to Baltimore; I hope you and Pat enjoy it in Heaven. My prayers are with Art III and family; Be strong bro.
My deepest condolences to the family. From a friend and former orthopedic surgeon of the Browns.
My condolences to John and David Modell. Your father was a kind and gracious man. My heartfelt thanks to your father for bringing an NFL football team to Baltimore. Baltimore will love Mr. Modell eternally. Rest in Peace Mr. Modell, you will be forever missed! ~~ RaVeNs FaN ~~
In loving memory of a wonderful person. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Modell but he sponsored me through middle&high schools (St. Ignatius and St. Frances). By attending private school kept me out of trouble and made me focus on what I wanted to do in life. I just wanted to take this time to say thank you so much for what you and your wife did for me. I didn't get a chance to go to college but I do have 2 parttime jobs (FedEx&Underarmour). Thank you again for looking for me. I would not be where I am if it were not for you.
REST IN "PURPLE" PEACE !!!
My deepest sympathies to both John and David. I don't know if you remember, from Waite Hill, but my mom, Faye Poje, worked for your family (in the 80's) and thought the world of your parents. My mom passed away this year too, in May. She was saddened to hear about your Mother's passing and I know she would have felt the same about your father.
Many years ago, your parents donated a signed Browns football and Greg Pruitt tear away game jersey for my kids' school carnival. I'll never forget the kindness your parents showed to, not only my mom, but to me and my family too.
We still have the thank you note your father sent in '83 after his Quadruple By-Pass surgery. I had only sent a get well card, but he let no gesture go by without acknowledging it. He was a very kind and generous man.
Again, please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss.
My sincere condolences to the Modell Family and their dear friends. Mr. Modell had a very good business mind and had football sense in his blood. All of football should honor his dedicated hard work and all of his accomplishments he acheived in his lifetime. Thank you Mr. Modell.

I met Art on a Monday morning at the Cleveland Clinic after a Browns game the day before. He talked to me as if he knew me for years even though I had just walked up and introduced myself to him. I will always remember him as a man who showed kindness to a complete stranger.
May the God of all comfort be with the Modell family. Romans 15:33.
You have my deepest sympathy. May good memories provide solace for your family during this challenging time; and may God provide you with the assurance that you will see your loved one again in Paradise. John 17:3
To John and David:
Your father was a kind, gentle man and I will always cherish my memories of working for your Dad. My heart goes out to the both of you. Take care.
The people of Cleveland lost a very gifted and generous person. He and his wife were responsible for supporting the Cleveland Clinic which indirectly saved hundreds of people's lives over the years yet he only seems to be remembered for the moving of the Cleveland Browns football team which was responsible for him personally loosing millions of dollars for many years. I want to offer my sympathy to his familiy and friends and I want to let them know that some people from Ohio realize how great a person he really was. A life is worth more than a sport in many people's oppinion.
Art Modell was described as controversial. We'd describe him as a visionary. Long before he made the difficult, even heartbreaking, decision to move the Cleveland Browns team to Baltimore, he was among the first to recognize and embrace the impact television could – and did – have on NFL football. Along with Baltimore Colts' owner Carroll Rosenbloom and Pittsburgh Steelers' owner Art Rooney, Modell agreed to move his Cleveland Browns' team to the American Football Conference in 1970, following the merger of the NFL and AFL.
Even his most controversial decision – to move his franchise – left the Browns' history and heritage in Cleveland and brought an NFL team to football-starved Baltimore, which had lost its own team some 12 years earlier. Today, for example, thanks to Art Modell's vision, Jim Brown is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a Cleveland Brown – not a Baltimore Brown.
We will remember him as a good and decent man who contributed greatly to the NFL, to Baltimore and Cleveland, to the communities in which he lived, to the charities in which he believed, and – perhaps most of all – to the active and retired players whom he loved, for whom he showed compassion and whom he treated as his family. He truly embraced the league's past, present and future.
We deeply regret that neither Art nor his wife Pat lived long enough to see him enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Art belongs in the Hall of Fame. Without Art, there would be no Monday Night Football. Art's moving the Browns to Baltimore, while unpopular with Browns fans, got almost every franchise a new stadium upon request.

You did much good for the city of Cleveland. Many charities and foundation were helped by your generous and giving hand. You did so quietly and you never gave a donation with the intent of having your name placed on a building to tell everyone of your generosity either.. You were a man with a lot of class and modesty. My prayers are with you and your family, Mr. Modell. May you rest in peace and God bless you.
We would like to offer our condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Art Modell

To The Modell Family:
I had the honor and privilege to meet Art Modell on several occasions, during the tenure of Head Coach Sam Rutigliano. The first time I met Art was at Browns training camp at Kent State. He really took the time to get to know me and know about my experiences in the NFL with Washington and New Orleans. As a former co-worker and friend of Sam's, Art made me feel like a part of the Browns family when he saw me.
The last time I saw Art (and his wife Pat) was when I attended the Browns game in Seattle in '78. He talked with me on the bus ride to practice at the University of Washington and was kind and generous to invite me to a private dinner that evening at the top of the Space Needle. When it came time to check out the next day from the hotel, I learned that Art had picked up my bill!
Only those who truly got to know Art, even for the shortest time can appreciate what he meant to the Browns organization, his family and others. And his wife Pat, who I met just once, was also one of the finest and most graceful women I've ever met.
Art's contributions to the NFL and to charities in Cleveland and Baltimore were more than most. It demonstrated an unselfishness not found in many.
My condolences to your family and to quote from the classic film, "It's a Wonderful Life", "no man is a failure, who has friends". Art Modell had many friends.
Art will alway,s hold a place in my heart after all he brought football back to B.More.I will keep his family in my prayer,s.May God be with his family in thier time of need.God Bless .
I wish to extend my condolences to the Modell family. As owner of The Cleveland Browns, the City of Cleveland, was a shinning star under Mr. Modell's watch. Although our beloved Browns did not capture a Superbowl title, the mere excitement of those championship games kept hopes and dreams alive for Browns Town fans. And for that, I say "thank you" and may you Rest In Peace.
Our thoughts are with Art's family. He was wonderfully innovative and truly loved the NFL and the people with whom he worked.
Good men like Art make life worth living. Thank you Art
Our deepest sympathy to John, David and the Modell family on Art's passing. He is now reunited with his beloved Patricia. He was a wonderful man and the world will be less with his passing. Sincerely, Nancy, Bill,Jr. and Roger Breit
