WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

McNair Family, may you treasure your memories as they become more precious in weeks and months to come.
Psalms 147:3-He is healing the broken hearted ones; and binding up their painful spots.
Our prayers are still with you
I am very late in this but I just found out TODAY 12/20/2009 of Ms McNairs death. As an African American, I am proud of what she has accomplished and endured. What courage she had. As a young person I had heard of her financial struggles coupled with marital woes and am glad to know she overcame much. God is good all the time.
A beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.
She will be missed.
If I could just say, I fell in love with her as a teenager. I was just so captured by her. And from that day to hearing the painful news, I have followed her work. I was priviledged to meet her on my 40th birthday. She was doing a concert in the park, in Long Beach, CA. I don't know how she knew I was dying to meet her, but she called me on stage to sing the "Name Game" song. She could not believe my name. I was nervous, eccastatic, and on cloud nine. I have pictures of the occassion, and will cherish them even more now. She complimented my voice, ( a bit generous, I think, nonetheless, thoughtfull). She wished me a happy birthday, gave me a big hug, and I floated for at least a year later. She so blessed my heart. I never thought I would meet my idol. And there she was on what thought was gonna be the saddest day of my life. Thank you for sharing her with me. God bless your hearts. Rest my dearest friend..........Much love.
To the Family of Barbara McNair,
I am so sorry for the loss of such a family treasure like Mrs.McNair. I know it has been over a year since her death, but she is still greatly missed.
(What a great Talent she had)!
This has to still be a hard time for the family, so I wanted to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible.
At Matthew 5:4-"Happy are those who mourn, since they will be comforted". This comfort can be found at Psalms 37:29-"The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it".
I hope these scriptures bring the family a measure of peace.
From a Stranger who cares.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
In memory of Barbara McNair: You were a very lovely and talented singer-actress. I recently saw you in "The Organization" playing the wife of Virgil Tibbbs (Sidney Poitier).
I was very young back in the 70's but remembered your popularity with other African American beauties like Judy Pace and Tamara Dobson. You made us proud! May your rest in peace.
I'm sorry to hear about your loved one, I would love to share a scripture to the family at John11:25 Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life, he that exercises faith in me even though he dies, will come to life.
I was young at the time of her TV show. Also late in life getting into "the days" music back then. However, I am glad I found an album she recorded at Motown. Yes her recordings of several H-D-H and others songs are great, although seem not to be aimed at the young youth Soul music buyers. I have been searching also for the 45's too. I saw a couple of 8-tracks in the 70's.
I am a fan. I would also like to see replays of her shows.
I cannot express my sadness at the passing of Barbara enough.
I have long been a fan of You're gonna love my baby for many many years and still have that record today.
I will play this record at a venue in Perth in memorium of Barbara to many people who share the same sentiments.
KEEP THE FAITH
I was totally shock to learn of the passing of Ms. McNair. When I was a child, I remember watching her show on television. To me, Ms. McNair was like Diahann Carroll, in the fact that she showed a different way to be black. What I mean by that comment, she was more than a skin color, and like, Ms. Carroll, because of her strength many people of color are now allowed to perform in areas that we once upon a time were not allowed. Ms. McNair, like Ms. Carroll, showed the world that "we" come in so many different shades/colors. Ms. McNair, I thank you and will forever remember you. I've mentioned you on my space - in hope that others will learn of another american diamond named Barbara McNair. Rest In Peace.
Dear Jackie: It is with deep regret that we have learned of the death of your beloved sister, Barbara. Please accept our deepest sympathy and know that our prayers are with you and the other members of the family. Sincerely, Betty Rose and Howard Denton in Chicago, Illinois.
To The Family of BARBARA MCNAIR
She was a friend of mine since 1967 in Las Vegas when she and Jack Rafferty came in to see me perform in Las Vegas Tropicana Hotel with Count Basie. She took me under her wing and showed me how to survive the unusual life style of the performer by taking me on the tennis courts with her in the early morn. I had my first tennis lessons there. Barbara and I met many times after that and she was like my big sister in showbiz. She
took part in my "Ellington Tree" project at the University of California 1981 and I saw her through the hospitalization and death of her sister Laureen from Las Vegas in Los Angeles. There was never a greater person. I will always treasure our friendship and the wonderful ways she shared her life with me. She will always remain in my heart."Ilove You More Today Than Yesterday" was her favourite recorded song on her recorded album/Angeline Butler, email@example.com/ 212) 957-9024
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Rest in Peace. The day you left us is the day we all lost.
God love and keep you with my thanks for Change Of Habit which I did not have to.
His Grace is a marvelous gift in Christ.
You are and always will be a true beauty in sight and in song. Rest sweet lady.

ANOTHER FLOWER HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE MASTER'S GARDEN.
I was 4th runner up in Model Pageant '75 that took place at Busch Gardens, Tampa, FLA, in May of that same year and Babara McNair and George Hamilton were the hostess and host. As I remember, she was my first up close and personal experience with a real "Black" star because during the pageant rehearsals, she shared the same space with the models, and since there were only a few black models in the pageant, it was refreshing to have her there. She was very nice, funny and down to earth. Over the years I often wondered what happened to her. May she rest in peace and my condolences to the family.
I am so saddened to hear about this beautiful lady's passing. As a child, she was someone that I looked up to; I loved the movie that she did with Elvis and Mary Tyler Moore! Good night, Ms. McNair, and God Bless.
My name is Terry Williams one of the original Kenny Roger and The First Edition. Barbara was a guest on our telivision show "Rollin On The River" and I never met a more wonderful down to earth and talented person and beautiful as well. I was a little girl when I had first heard of Ms. McNair. I don't know what type of hair style she had but I remember being at a beauty salon and hearing women saying they wanted her hair style. When I finally saw her I then understood why all the women wanted to look like her. She was a very beautiful and talented woman and she opened the door for so many. You will never be forgotten. To her family; You all have our deepest sympathy, but she will suffer no more.Take comfort in your memories but you will see her again.

In His Love,
My thoughts and prayers goes to the Mcnair's family.
As a teenager, the sight and sound of the incredible Barbara McNair was truly awesome. She did, as I got older, only got better.
I grew up in a time when Blacks were visualized on television during the riots or a protest.
Yet the rarity of Barbara McNair have encouraged other actors and actresses to press on like Bill Cosby, Quincy Jones, and Gladys Knight.
The pass has some pleasant memories and Barbara McNair will remain as one of them.
OUR PRAYERS TO THE FAMILY. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
