For Benazir...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

"Our life is a vapor that appeareth for a
little time and vanisheth away."~~James.
January 01, 2008
I knew Benazir at Harvard. Pinkie. She was a bright, kind, witty child who came half way around the world to follow in her father's footsteps of studying in America. Her experience at Harvard and later at Oxford gave her a global perspective that became part of her great ability to understand geopolitical complexity and helped her to gain the exemplary qualities of communication and leadership that she embodied.

She was a voice for the voiceless in her country and throughout the world. We must ensure that voice endures.

May her family be comforted by the fact that she joins her father now as one of history's great champions of democracy, diplomacy and reason. She leaves the world a better place for her too brief part in it. Her legacy shines before us now.
January 01, 2008
So sorry for your great lost. You have my deepest sympathy.

 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.

But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalms 37:10,11)
May these words give you a measure of comfort.
January 01, 2008

I met Benazir Bhutto when I was a child. My father used to be the assistant director of circulation at the Widner Library and we used to live in Cambridge for many years. As a child I met all kinds of luminaries in Harvard Square and at the University. Like Ms. Bhutto I am an advocate for social justice around the world. She was a great woman and she and her family desrve all the love and warmth our hearts can give.
December 31, 2007
One more Bhutto came across of a
tragic end. Poltical Horizon
of Pakistan revisits a
chaotic situation while it
was already in phase of
transition to democracy.

A great challenging voice
against dictatorship and
fundamentalism has been
eliminated. She initiated
her ploitical career in 1979
by challenging Martial Law
of Zia Ul Haq, who was in
place after overthrowing her
father from power. She bore
stern circumstances and
ultimately was consigned on
exile. In 1986, she came
with a new determination for
return of constitutional
rule. After death of Zia,
she won the federal rule but
lost punjab. Her rule
fell just after 20 months
due to unbalanced power
division between presidency
and Chief Executive, and
hung, polarized tiers of
governance from Federation
to provinces.

She was a great stateswoman
of international stature.She
ruled Pakistan twice. During
her reigns, Pakistan re carved its presence on the map of
commonwealth, augmented its
strategic assets, attained conventional balance by diluting pressler through brown amendment , and
reduced perception of
its being a
vulnerable/rougue state,
presented idea of
union of south Asia without loss of political identity and integrity of the member nations on
the lines Europe
consolidated, advanced a
plausible and realistic solution to
Kashmir issue in the footsteps of Irish Resolution. Later Nawaz
and Musharraf followed the
suit on the Kashmir issue.

Her death is a great loss to
Pakistan as well as
international community. We
Shall miss the roaring lioness greatly.

May her soul rest in peace.
December 31, 2007
God called you home, your mission here on Earth complete. May you watch from above and guide those in need. My sympathy and heart go out to you family. May you rest in Peace.

December 30, 2007
Mrs. Bhutto was a leader among women; a woman who would not be deterred; a woman who wanted so much for her country. To her immediate family, husband, children as well as other family and friends, though we will never know why she was taken away from those who loved and cared about her, let not this be the end of the work she started. She would not want this to be the end, but that someone would carry on her hopes and dreams for her country. A beautiful, intelligent, and honored woman has left her footprints upon the sand...please don't let this be the end of her dream.

My sincerest sympathies are extended to all who loved her, who held her dear and who supported her dreams.
December 30, 2007

December 29, 2007
I had the privilege of hearing Ms. Bhutto speak a few years ago. What struck me was her dedication and willingness to use all of her efforts and energy to help the Pakistani people. She was truly a "fighter" and a believer in a better Pakistan. I regret that her efforts were cut short. I'm also saddened that in a country with such promise there are groups who would rather silence opponents then simply listen and make a choice through their vote. I grieve for Ms. Bhutto's family, but I also grieve for her country and the world. Events such as this only makes us weak.
