Rest Bil, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.
Thank you for your service to this nation.
To The Keane Family, with our deepest
John 11: 1-44
My favorite comic of all time. It filled me with such a warm feeling. I was smiling before I read it. I related the happenings to our own family and smiled, smiled smiled! Thanks so much. Condolances to the family and thanks for sharing him!
What a great & inspiring man this man has been throughout the years. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family. His wife & children were blessed to have Bill within their lives & thank you for sharing him with us all.
Wanted to thank Bil Keane for all his Sunday cartoons I read on Sundays' on AZ Republic. I looked forward to it each and every Sunday. He will be missed.
To the family of Mr. Keane, my heart goes out to you. My husband and I were so sad to hear of his passing. We looked for and read his comic strip every day for years as we had our morning coffee before heading to work. We loved it and it always brought a smile to our faces. The drawings were so cute and funny. This week we got the news of his passing and our paper said there would be no more publication. That made us very sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We never got to meet Bil Keane but we feel like we know a part of him through his work. All we can say is how much joy he brought to us in that moment every morning. I'm sure Bil must be in heaven right now. Thank you Bil for the little piece of sunshine you gave me. May God bless your family.
Best cartoon by far. Thanks for the memories Bill. You were truly a class act.
As far back as I can remember, Bil's Family Circus was my most checked out books at the Phoenix Public Library when it was on McDowell and Central Ave now where the Phoenix Art Musuem stands. As a teenager, I began collecting the books and today, at 28, I am just a few books shy of the entire collection. I cherish Bil and his work. His family values and the fact that he was living in PV, Arizona, made me feel connected to him and his family. I am very sad at the passing of Bil and will continue to search for the rest of the titles I am missing to complete my collection. So that one day, I too, can share The Family Circus with my children. Rest in Peace and thanks for all the fun memories!
In July 1992, I was on a plane from Washington to Phoenix, when I noticed a gentleman sitting across the aisle from me drawing on many small squares of paper. Immediately recognizing the images, I asked if he were the cartoonist of The Family Circus…, and he said yes!! I asked him to draw one square dedicated to the Graham Family. He was so cordial and agreed at once, and I was so happy that he did so. My eldest son took the cartoon and had it framed for us! It has been on the wall and a cherished part of our family ever since!
We have continued to love the strip, and I have admired the skill of both artists, father and son. I am most grateful that the cartoon will continue under Jeff's talented hand... his father will live on for many more years because of this wonderful inherited ability to show us the way of life "through Keane eyes."
Thank you for so much!
Odette F. Graham
Thank you Bil and Thel Keane for adopting Gopher, a rescue Labrador from our organization. I hope he brought you much joy and happiness. May the Keane children and grand children find comfort in knowing how much they were loved by the community. God bless.
Our family loves yours and a suitable incident may remain on the refrigerator door for months. Jeff; please keep the family coming into our homes. We need you more than ever. Your family and ours may grieve over the loss of your father; but his cartoons with "grandpa" show the reality and happiness I'm sure he is experiencing now.
Ray and Belle Brown
Dear Keane family,
I am crying as I write this message of sympathy to you. When I retired from teaching , I wrote a fan letter to your Dad telling him how much his cartoon meant to me. The Family Circus is the greatest cartoon ever. When I worked, it was the one thing in the paper that I read every day. I'd cut the cartoons out to keep for "just the right time", and I always had a spot on my 'Student Information Board' for "The Family Circus" which was greatly enjoyed by the students. The cartoon gave us hope,a feeling that we are not alone, and it provoked many conversations and much thought. Now as a grandmother, I share the cartoons with my grandchildren.
Your father brought so much happiness and peace into this world with his talent . Jeff, I hope that you can keep the cartoon going. The world needs all the comfort, peace, and happiness that the cartoon embodies.
I am so sorry for your loss of your wonderful father. May God bless your entire family.
i will never forget the time when Uncle Bil came into our classroom in 2nd grade at St Pats school in kennett aquare,pa. he drew the family circus on the blackboard and the nuns left it up for weeks! no one was allowed to erase the blackboard! Years later, Uncle bil came to my wedding and when the guests found out that Bil Keane was at the wedding...needless to say they were thrilled. In my home, i have so many cartoons to treasure signed personally to me and my family. when we were little we would be so thrilled and excited to know that Uncle Bil was coming to town.. it was right up there with christmas morning as a little kid! May God bless and keep my cousins on the west . of all the cartoons in the world, i do believe that God really enjoyed and delighted in the Family Circus! sincerely, with love always, colleen and lewis hart and family (tom's daughter)
At the end of each life is a legacy of love.. My deepest condolences to the family and friends. As the days and weeks pass and as you return to life routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of God, family and friend James 4:8 Draw close to God and he will draw close to you
So sorry what a loss to everyone.
Thank you for your service to our country in our time of need! Your gentle forbearance and patience to your family is revealed in your iconic "monocartoon". Your influence, like Bach, was pervasive and served as a role model, like Charlie Schultz. May the mantle of your work fall upon Jeff and endure forever. A true master of life. God's richest blessings upon your and your lovely wife's memory and your remaining family. May Philadelphia honor you in Memoriam. MSgt Nathan Webb, USAF Ret. 502 AF Band
To the Keane family I was so sorry to hear about the death of dear Bill. I have loved reading the Family Circus comic strip over the years and it will be missed and he will be also. I am sure that Bill's life was full and you have wonderfull memories of him to look back on to help fill up the void of his no longer being here. He is in God's memory now and He will help you to endure with his promises. Take care of one another.
I will miss your talent & comic. That is about only one I still read in these days. It was always BEST to me, as could relate to so much of the cute things said & displayed by you. We will all miss you Rest in Peace Bill Keane and God bless the family & all Their precious memories of you.
What a loss the world has suffered. Family Circus was something to which all families could relate. Good, clean humor will outlast all others.
We, his readers, are missing a teller of one panel stories. HIs family is missing a wonderful role model. My heart goes out to them at this time. Your father's light will continue to shine and light your life. God bless you all.
...your on the way home Mr Keane, over the fence, around the tree, through the neighbors yard and into the arms of Our Father. God Bless You †
Thank you, Mr. Keane, for years of laughter and many eye opening pearls of wisdom carefully hidden in your masterworks. Prayers for your family. Go with God, sir, and be blessed.
OH. BILL, YOU WILL BE MISSED SO MUCH.
IT WAS SUCH A PLEASURE TO READ THE SUNDAY PAPER, WITH THE CHILDREN FEATURED. SO HUMAN , BRINGS MEMORIES TO
ME. MISS YOU. GOD BLESS
I have one of the compiled books of Mr. Keane's cartoon characters. Our grandkids have loved this book throughout the years, thanks Mr. Keane for all the laughs and smiles you have brought to our family, praying God's renewed strength for your family
To the Keane Family,
God brings the good people home earlier. I am thankful for all the years I have enjoyed Family Circus. Mr. Keane made us all feel it was our family as it happened in our homes too. I just wish the world could have stayed that simple.
May God bring you solace in the memories of your life with him.
Heaven is just that much sweeter with you there. So grateful for the hope we have in Jesus Christ regarding our salvation and our ultimate joy of being there with you someday.
I have loved "Family Circus" for so many years and the messages made me laugh and cry. They conveyed a real American family with their adventures and misadventures. I have no children of my own, but have thoroughly lived vicariously through this wonderful comic. I have looked forward to it every day of my life. My sincere condolences to Mr. Keane's family.
Thank you for all the joy!
Now Daddy joins Grandpa among the angels. You be sure to draw it right, Jeffy.
I read the 'obituary' with a smile on my face. His cartoon has been a staple that I always read while passing over many others. Rest in peace and thank you for the laughs.
I was born in 1962 and "Family Circus" has been as integral to my experience growing up as Coca-Cola and the American flag. Mr Keane created an American icon and I always look forward to seeing what this timeless family is up to each week! I identified with PJ, Jeffy, Billy and Dolly as a child and continue to identify with them while raising my own children. We will miss Mr. Keane's wonderful purity of life and family.
My family and I attended St. Maria Goretti Parish in Scottsdale. One Sunday, our son Mike, was serving as an Altar Boy for the very first time. Sitting next to us in that first pew was Bil Keane. Mike was the Cross Bearer and when he got to the altar the stand he was to place it in was missing. The Knight's of Columbus had moved it before Mass and forgot to put it back! Mike stood there, flummoxed and nervous, but poised - eventually one of the Knight's figured out why this young altar boy was standing so still holding the crucifix - and came to the rescue with "the stand." By the time Mass was over, Bil had sketched Mike - in his beloved Family Circus style, with the words, "Good job serving today, Mike!" It is framed and enjoys a place in our home to this day. Mike is now a college grad and was back in AZ last week for our daughter's wedding - and it was Mike who told me of Bil's death - such a small act of kindness continues to touch our family so many, many years later. May our dear Lord console you - and your memories and stories sustain you - as you live on in Bil's love.
Pat Sauerman/Mike Phillips
My husband and I have really enjoyed the "Family Circus" . We always looked for the "Family Circus" first. It started our day with a smile or sometimes a good laugh. Thank you for sharing your talent with so many people. Will continue to look for 'Family Circus".
I grew up reading Family Circus in the comic paper. Mr. Keane's sense of humour enriched my life with laughter. So sorry to hear of his death. My prayers and blessings go out to his family.
To the family of Bil Keane,
When I was an executive at the National Catholic Educational Association, Bil attended our annual conventions on occasion. I remember how gracious he was in drawing cartoons for those who requested them. I will never forget the one he drew for my daughter when she was critically ill. Thank God she is finally well today and the mother of three children. She always says how much his thoughtfulness meant to her as it still does to me and my family.God Bless you Bil
He will be greatly missed!
To The Bil Keane Family,
I don't know Keane's Family, but one thing I understand and know that to loss a love one in death is hard on any Family.
The Bible tells us at Isaiah 29:8.9 that death will be swallowed up and there will be no more tears. May your Family, have comfort and peace.
Sympathy, Hilda, South Carolina
Mr. Keane's comics have been my favorited for years. My husband and I have one daughter and three sons, and I just knew that what happened in Family Circus had happened to Mr. Keane. His cartoons were a true reflection of the joys and humor of famiy life. Thanks for enriching our lives and reaffirming the magic of family.
It was the only comic I cared to read, and frequently cut out to save. God bless you for sharing your insights, and talent.
I only read one comic and that is Family Circus, I only hope it will continue under your son. Thank you for giving so much joy to a 80 year old woman. You will be missed by many. Joanne G. Rockford IL
Good christian man and decent role models for children and adults. Wasn't afraid to share his beliefs and made explaining death of a grandfather easier just by looking at at one of his cartoons in a pleasant way. Sympathies to his family, he will be missed.
Thank you, Mr.Keane, for many years of The Family Circus. They hit home for my family and no doubt so many others. You will be missed!
May God give you a warm hug for eternity
One of my favorite comic strips. I have used them as writing prompts in my classes for children, shown them in my college psych classes because they were always "right on", and posted them on my refrigerator for years. Thank you for touching my heart with humor and "aha" so well. I think you drew my family, not just yours. My sincerest condolences to the Keane family.
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
Thank you Mr. Keane for years of humor but more importantly keeping family values in every cartoon. We are so grateful; you and The Family Circus will be greatly missed.
Grew up reading Family Circus. Hit home on alot of issues. Loved it! You will be missed.
May it comfort you to know that 'the happy God', as well as others, care about your feelings at this time.
Family Circus was my Mom's favorite cartoon. She would always clip one out of the newspaper and send it along in a card to my brother or me to provide us with a chuckle. She passed away last year and I'm sure she met Mr. Keane at the door to thank him personally for the many smiles he created. May knowing that he touched so many lives help you find peace in this time of great sorrow.
Mr Keane was a regular customer at my office. He was a very good man that touched many people, including myself. I wish his family the best.
I love Family Circus. I'm glad he shared himself with us this way.
Heartfelt condolences, with a smile , Jeff My family has grown up with The Family- we had quite a time convincing my son not to name the stray dog we took in, Barfy; I sent him the cartoons all thru college, and now wherever he is stationed- he just returned safely from Afghanistan. Keep at it.Your Dad was wonderful, and you are the same. Many thanks. A Marine's Mom
I LOVED the Family Circus comic strip. I agree with Mr. Guzman from Kansas, it was truly a "...a source of comfort and joy." I particularly enjoyed the times when "Little Billy" would submit his work.
God Bless your soul Mr. Keane! Thank you and enjoy being in HIS presence!
To the family of Mr. Keane - my sympathy - he left all of you and us with such wonderful memories - thank you. What a wonderful carton Mr. Keane created - thank you for many many smiles -
The Best comic strip ever! and a source of comfort and joy.
The Family Circus is the 1st cartoon I read in the daily and Sunday papers.
Much sympathy to the Family.
Bil Keane was the greatest! I'll miss starting my day with his cartoon, which is so true to life.
Thank You Mr. Keane for bringing such joy and humor to millions of people every day. When I open the comic section of the newspaper your "circle" is the 1st thing I look for and, to your own family, how fortunate you were to have him in your lives. It would have fun.
Fran Weatherly, Sunnyvale, CA
This is the best and a day without reading family circus will never be the same. I wish more artist like this would appear in our paper. Jane
Bil Keane was a hit because he was spot on with family life. God bless his family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Keane family. What a great legacy Bil leaves behind; he was one of a kind. Thank you for your service to our country, and thank you for bringing "a warm smile" and a "tug at the heart" into our lives!
Like so many other readers, Family Circus was my favorite cartoon. Mr. Keane's love of family came through in each of the dear frames.
Joan of Middleton, MA
Amazing Man. It's the Family Circus that drew my attention to the newspaper to begin with.
Thank you, Mr. Keane for many years of stirring fond memories for our family. We always compared our family to Family Circus and continue to smile when we read the comics. God bless your family!
May God bless all of the Keanes. Family Circus was my family. What a wonderful legacy Bil leaves.
Growing up, my Mom read the newspaper every morning and would ALWAYS share your daily comic - most days, putting it on the frig as a smile for when were going out the door to school. My childhood was one where I related to "Dolly" and loved all the smiles you gave us. God bless you and thank you for the gift of yourself to the world.
Thank you Mr. Keane for your strip. Ida knows what I would with out your comic strip. Over the years I long to read Family Circus you can't find comics like that anymore. God bless you and your family.
WE ARE SENDING OUR LOVE,PRAYERS,&CONDOLENCES TO THE KEANE FAMILY,FRIENDS,FANS,&ALL WHO KNEW MR. KEANE.&THANK YOU JEFF FOR CONTINUING ON WITH FAMILY CIRCUS.

To The Keane Family,
Our heartfelt sympathy to you. I think everyone at one time or another could relate to Family Circus. Always a favorite, just like Bil. May God Bless your family...now and forever.
My prayers are with the family of Bill Keane. It was like he was peaking into our homes and watching us with his Family Circus. I always looked forward to reading it as it always brought a smile to not only my face but to my heart. Rest in peace.
My deepest sorrows to the whole Keane Family. We grew up with you and so many times my mom would let us know that what you did that day was what we did. Thank you for sharing your dad with us for so many years. He was one of a kind. God Bless you all and God Speed Mr. Keane, you will be missed
To The Family...Family Circus has always been a favorite. For some reason, I always enjoyed a visit from G-pa's spirit. Now Bill can watch over his own
family...RIP Mr Keane & thanks...
His truly was a kinder and gentler era. He will be missed, but all that he captured will be missed even more.
To the family of Bil Keane, Family Circus has been a favorite of our family for nearly 50 years. We have laughed an cried with the cartoon family through many of their experiences. His talent will surely be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
My empathy to family and loved ones. I, among his millions of followers, will miss his cartoons. He made so many problems of being parents funny. His humor will be missed.
R.I.P. Thank you for sharing your life with the world . . . More times than I can count has your quaint family cartoon brought happiness and sweet memories to me regarding my own family. God Bless to you and especially to your family during this time of loss.
RIP BIL KEANE, FAMILY CIRCUS WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE CARTOONS, GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY.
Family of Bill Keane. We grew up on Famiy Circus. (as many of us have) He truly was talented and had the heartbeat of the family in all of his strips. His wonderful work will always be remembered and in our hearts. Praying for much peace and comfort to his children and grandchildren.
I was blessed to be able to work with Bil on several projects for Frito-Lay. His family of characters were perfect for a product called Variety Pack. It featured all the kids enjoying wholesome snacks all while fitting the Keane model for heartfelt humor. I was always SO impressed with how he held his kids (live and cartoon) in such high regard. I grew up following his work. He and his work have left us all in a better place!
I have always enjoyed his beautiful work. He will always be remembered in God's memory. And will never be forgotten. May the peace that only God can give excel all thought and bring you comfort at this time.
Family Circus was one of the only two comics that I read on a regular basis. Bill reached his goal with the "warm smile, a tug at the heart or a lump in the throat." So saddened to hear of Mr. Keane's passing, but know he is in a great place. May God comfort his family.
Love and prayers to Bil Keane's family and friends.
To know that he was a bright spot in many people's lives every day of the week is something to treasure forever in your hearts.
God bless you all.
Dear Bill Keane, Thank you so much for all the years of enjoyable comics; to his family - We will miss him; you were lucky to have such a talented man as your husband and father - we extend our deepest sympathy in your loss - Jim and Marilyn Zeller
Thank you for your many years of poignant cartoons. For Jeffy, Dolly, Billy and P.J., you have our sympathy.
Bill Keene once said, "I like to feel that what I'm doing portrays this: a family where there is love between mother, father and the kids. It's a subject that is dear to me." Many people felt the same way; thanks Bill.
Family Circus was such a on-the-spot cartoon. My family recognized certain things in it that only someone who has children could imagine. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and looked forward to each new strip. RIP Mr. Keane, your talents will surely be missed.
I have loved Family Circus since I was a kid. Even if I don't have time to read all the funnies, I always make sure Family Circus is the one I read. Thanks Mr. Keane for tugging at my heartstrings. May you rest in peace next to your lovely wife.
Thanks for giving us Billy, Dolly, Jeffy and P.J. and for all the smiles they brought into our homes. May God bless your family at this time of sorrow and always.
How can you think of someone going over to borrow something from the neighbors without thinking of the dotted lines that Bil Keane drew designating the indirect route of the character to get there?? It was a marvelous concept. Thanks for all the memories.
Thanks so much for the kindness to keep an even keel in the world. Must be wonderful to be able to look back and see all this kindness you helped bring into the world. I hope you are able to continue in that way. My prayers of thankfulness are with you always.
RIP MR. Keane. I have loved his Family Circus cartoons and all the artwork he has done for the Letter Carriers Food Drive. His talent will be missed. Sympathy to all his family and friends.
Family Circus was my favorite cartoon for many years. I could relate it to so many things in ny own family. Since it doesn't appear in our paper any longer, I have nothing to look forward to in our Sunday paper.
I am saddened to read of Bil's passing. Reading Family Circus, especially on Sunday mornings, was always a highlight. I'll never forget the week they got their mini-van...so did we; made me smile each day!
I loved his work. He will be sorely missed. Sincere sympathy to his family.
God loved his comics so much that He called him home. He will be missed...but his memory will live on as long as his work is still in circulation. Condolences to his family and friends during your time of loss. Thanks for sharing him with the rest of us!

Bill Keane's work served as a moral compass , for that I am grateful.May God bless and keep the Keane Family. Posey Moore Nash
Thanks for making me laugh!!
I've always liked to call Bil Keane a good friend, but he asked me not to. We go back more than 40 years and shared some good times together. He and Thel were the most gracious folks I knew, even inviting us to spend Christmas with the Keane family.
I will always miss the times on Bil's tennis court (partly because I can't afford one of my own). Yes, the world will be a somewhat sadder place without Bil and his gentle yet wry sense of humor, but Heaven will be a better place for it.
While there's no doubt that you will rest in peace, I'm guessing you'll open with your signature greeting, "It's more than a pleasure to be here...". You know the rest.
Thank you for many years of happy moments. God bless. (Liz in West Bridgewater, MA)
I always had a special place in my heart for Comic strip art. It is such a demanding field however, Bil Keane had such a passion for it. I too am an artist and I realize how special "Family Circus " is to the millions of readers who follow Bil's scrip. What a loss we have in the passing of Bil Keane! He is the last of his kind and shall never be replaced!
Thank you for the love you gave us all these years with your comic strips
To the Keane Family, our deepest condolences. His comic strip never failed to put a smile on my face. God bless all of you. Thank you Mr. Keane
I read each cartoon in my local newspaper daily. Like a great dessert after a fine meal, I save "Family Circus" for last.
A vacation meeting with your marvelous parents was a God's gift to me, and our yearly communication was something I treasured. Your father I'm sure was a model for every parent as well as your mother.
thank you for all the warmth and laughs Family Circus gave to me. every single one of those cartoons could have been me and my family.
The Sugar Bowl won't be the same. Always thought of you when we went in there. Hope you comic strips will still remain there. Rest In Peace Now. You will be missed.
Bil Keane defined the wholesome, family-loving side of American life with creative simplicity. He has honored our state by being a fellow resident all these years. God rest your soul, Mr. Keane.
--- Drew Alexander
The "Family Circus" started about the time that our own family circus was being born. We just loved to see it every week. Each cartoon seemed to mirror our own situations.
It is our hope that the feature will continue on for many years, reprinting Mr. Keane's wonderful concept of simple family life.
Mary A. Fort Washington, PA.
Family has been a family favorite of mine. I have even cut out the comic strip and saved some of them. I hope my newspaper still keeps the strip. God Bless you for your work.
i just love the family circus.thank you for the laughs and fond memories rest in peace mr, keane ellen and ed gagnon in brockton massachusetts
I have a strip from Family Circus hanging on my fridge that shows the grandma and the kids gazing at a beautiful sunset with the words, and I may not get them exact but something to the effect, "with every sunset goes a slice of your life"...beautiful! God Bless Mr Keane!
The day just doesn't seem right without without reading Family Circus.
Rest in peace, Mr. Keane...thank you for the laughs over the years. Many of us enjoyed them...
I enjoyed reading the Family Circus. What fond memories over the years. The entire family and friends have my sincere sympathy. God is near to those that are broken at heart; And those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
I grew up on "Family Ciricus." Thank you Family of Bill Keane, for sharing him with us...
I have had a cartoon hanging on my refrigerator for the past 8 years. It says " the best artists in heaven get to paint butterfly wings and sunsets". That cartoon came out a couple weeks after my husband, an artist who loved Family Circus, passed away. It was my hello from heaven, and I will treasure it always. Thanks and God Bless, Jana
Both Bil and Thel were the kindest of people. My father took care of all their travels from booking tickets to visit the kids to going to Australia to see Thel's family. Once I got into the travel business I did the Keane's travel. They were so very kind and a pleasure to work with. We display cartoons in our office in Scottsdale that Bil did with our agency and even my name in it. They are great. He also did a special cartoon for my father in 1998 when he was sick. Thank you Bil for all the great memories. Robbie Louchheim and all of your friends at Travel Destinations, Inc. in Scottsdale, AZ
my deepest sympathy, I read the family circus everyday, thanks for the vey enjoyable comic, I hope they continue.
Don't we need more people like Mr Keane to make us laugh. With all the bad depressing things that are going on in the world today he will be missed. Our Creator who has a sence of humor must have enjoyed the family cartoon as well. Rest in peace untl it's time to wake up and start drawing again.
As a life long comic strip reader, I always had a special place in my heart for Family Circus.. It was so true to life and always brought a smile to my face and some belly laughs too.. What a loss we have in the passing of Bil Keane! Rest in peace dear Bil.
To the Keane Extended Family--We were saddened to hear of the passing of your father. We treasured the 30 plus years we lived next door. We often think of the very funny incidents that took place and that were made even funnier when Thel and Bil retold them. Memories are wonderful things and we will always cherish those days. Love to all of you.
Joan, Leon, Lynn Asadourian, Eve (Asadourian) and Randy Carpio
I always look for the Family Circus in the paper. I have cut out many of the comic strips and they are on my fridge. The grands and I love to read them. I pray for the Lord's comfort for his family.
Great guy, great wholesome cartoon, and he will be missed. He was the best! May God bless him and his whole family.
Bil Keane was a phenomenal cartoonist. His sense of humor was just like the children in his cartoons, it never grew old. He created clean fun for all. Never would a day pass without a chuckle, a belly-laugh or just a smile. He will truly be missed.
Ever since first seeing it, I enjoyed "The Family Circus." Bill Keane did a great job with it, and I hope it will continue.
My deepest sympathy to all who loved Bil! He has brought such profound joy through his comic strip.
I wonder if on his way to heaven he jumped over a cloud, ran through a rainbow, splashed in the rain, skipped around the planets and twirled through the Pearly Gates. Yes, I bet he did ~

thank you Bill I never missed that comic strip brought a smile to mt face for many years, thanks, mil
We were saddened to hear that Bil had passed. I had the pleasure of talking to him in 1998 when I made a request for a copy of print that said "the heart of a donor must already be filled with love." It had been in the papers June of 1996 and my husband had just had his heart transplant June 16, 1996. He sent me two signed copies, one for the donors mother and the other for my husband. We talked for quite awhile and he could not br prouder of his children, he spoke of each and everyone with such love. He is a very special man who lived his life as a caring and loving husband and father. He will truly be missed. Loving thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.
When I was in grade school, I had every Family Circus book. Wish I still did. When it came to reading the comic in the paper, I saved his for last, because it was my favorite. Thanks for the memories and Jeff, thank you for continuing his work.
I will miss Bill visits at where I work. He gave the best Hugs!! He had such a warm and wonderful heart. I have two calenders that he gave me and I will treasure them. I am praying for all of you. with all my love chris
Bless you, Bil. We'll miss you.

Jeff & family, It was a pleasure meeting your dad. I still have the cartoon he drew after Matilda's baptism. God bless you all. - Kent Hinkson
We are so saddened with Bil Keané's death. As he was our neighbor for twenty-five years ( across the street), we knew what a great family they were, and send our love and condolences to all of those who he left behind. His "Family Circus"will always be in our hearts. We hope Jeff will continue with his father's creation. We still chuckle at Bil's jibes about our not taking our Christmas lights down until July! He had such great humor and we hope he keeps the Angles smiling, With Love, Lila & Art Eisenhower
Loved Family Circus! It was always the first one I read. Loved the books,Too.When you get to heaven please say hello to my Dad, he is the one who introduced me to the comic, and great men should hang out together<3
Family Circus was my favorite Sunday comic! Thank you for sharing your family values, truth, and humor. You brightened my day many, many, many times.
It was one of the "best" of the comics, when suddenly most of them no longer were very funny. Family Circus and Bil's mind, kept us tuned in with what kids really "do say".
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, and we are honored to have Bil are part of our lives.
To the Keane Family
The sadness you feel in these dire times is unbelievable. No words can begin to heal your sorrow. I am truly sorry for your lost but God will certainly heal your broken heart and he will bind your painful spots.
God bless and keep your family at this time of loss. I will miss the strip and I still miss Peanuts. We will always love Family Circus.
Loved Family Circus....especially the ones where the kids took the longest route home and you saw all the places they would meander.....how real the cartoon was! The ability to lovingly portray everyday life in a simiple honest manner and to put a smile on someone's face is gift. Rest in peace Bil Keane.
Family Circus is always one I go looking for in the comics. Thanks for the the good moments you have given us.
I have been enjoying Family Circus for years. Being almost 70 it takes me back to my growing up years, a simpler time. I framed the one concerning identical twins and how God creates them when he makes a face he really likes. I sent copies to my twin sons. Family Circus has been a gift to so many. I'm very sorry for your loss and extend condolences.
Bil was a man who meant so much to so many. An encouragement to all he would reach out to through his imagination and wide creativity. He will truly be deeply missed. But thankfully he will be brought back to life as a human again. With his youthful vigor restored, he will help all transform the earth into a paradise as at the start!
BIL KEANE , REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY BE AT PEACE. GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL AND YOUR FAMILY. GREAT LIFE.
This is someone you would want to live forever and he will in the hearts of many.
Family Circus has been the favorite comic for my entire family for many years. We hope someone will keep it going, too good good to end, now. Thanks for all of the precious moments you have givenus.
When our local paper announced it would be cutting out some of the comics, all I could think was "NOT Family Circus, NOT Family Circus'. Condolences to the Keane family.
Since our paper didn't get the Family Circus my Godparents who lived in Milwaukee would cut them out and send them to us in Plainfield, Il. I used to love it when we would get about a months worth to read through. One of my happy childhood memories.
Thank you for all of the years you brought happiness to our family through your work. "Family Circus" is ALWAYS the very first thing i reach for in Sunday's paper. Praying God's comfort and peace to the family.
The "Family Circus" will always bring a smile to my face. Thank you so much for all your humor and wisdom thru the years. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Marie, Howell, N.J.
To the Keane Family - thank you for sharing Bil with us. The Family Circus always brought a smile to my face.
I grew up enjoying the Family Circus cartoon. Hours before hearing about Bil's passing I tore out a strip to share with my wife and Sunday School class about "Blessing's". I believe God has used Bil's talent and love to reach beyond what we can comprehend on this side of eternity.
Mr. Keane will be sadly missed.
He always brought a smile to our face.
May he be reunited with Charles Schultz on the other side of the gulf.
We truly loved these two wonderful men.
I have always loved his cartoon. Rest in peace.
I have been reading the Family Circus as far back as I can remember. The Family Circus was about events in real life and always brought a smile to my day. God Bless Bil Keane, you will be missed world wide.

I have been enjoying "family Circus" ever since I learned to read. It was nice to know the man behind the comic, but truly sorry he has passed away in death. Soon God will end all suffering including sickness, old age and death.
To Bil Keane's entire family:
I have been reading Family Circus for longer than I can remember. I have never read it without a smile on my face at the end. Your dad had an incredibly gentle talent that he shared with countless numbers of readers. May God bless him and all of you in his real Family Circus.

When I think of Mr. Keane, I think:
There are some inherent traits
That need not be honed
The most prevalent being
The funny bone
Thanks for the years of pure, clean humor, ©Mare McKnight
My thoughts and prayers to the Keane Family as they go through this time in your lives. Over the years, I have received much happiness from the reality of family life, thanks to your Dad's sharing of your home. Several books that I have are personally signed and even a personal note following the funeral of a cousin are highly treasured. May you find comfort in knowing that Bil and Thel are together again. God's blessings on each of you.

Thank you Mr. Keane and family for your clean, wholesome, inspiring work for all these years. Your work will always be timeless. I hope your son continues the legacy.
My mom sent Bil an idea for a cartoon and he used it and sent her a thank you. I thought that was real nice of him.
Keane family, Bill gave me so many smiles on Sunday mornings, I especally enjoyed the "family values" God bless you all!
May he rest in peace. I cannot express how much I have enjoyed his characters through the years as they always seemed to mirror my own family and their activities.
I send condolences and prayers to the Keane family. As your dad said, "I would rather have the readers react with a warm smile, a tug at the heart or a lump in the throat as they recall doing the same things in their own families."
Well I have a few of the ones which tugged at my heart and/or left a lump in my throat. As I come across them I still have the same reaction as years ago. Loretta R. Snack (Manchester NJ)
Thank you Mr. Keane for your years of humor! I grew up in Phx. reading your comics and always looked forward to the Sunday "color" edition. Even after I was grown and moved to Georgia, my mom would clip her favorites and mail them to me. Family Circus was her favorite comic strip too! My condolences to the entire Keane family.

Our deepest sympathy to the Keane Family. I read Family Circus as a child it was my favorite part of the newspaper. I read the Family Circus to my children . We bought every Family Circus book we could find . We have read them over and over again. What joy they have given us. Thank-you Mr. Keane you brought sunshine , joy and laughter into our home and our hearts.
I was surprised and sorry to read of Bil Keane's passing today in the New Haven Register. I had enjoyed Family Circus for years while I was living in the Chicago area. My favorite was the one that said "People don't want love, they want consistency." I've always remembered that and quoted it often. Thank you so much, Bil Keane. To quote the Baha'i Writings: "I have made death a messenger of joy to thee." I will offer a Baha'i prayer for the departed in your memory.
Our deepest sorry for the loss of such a wonderful friend and neighbor. We just loved knowing Bil and will treasure the time we spent with him and his wife. We know he is with Thel and so happy in heaven. He will be dearly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers to Bil's children and family

Dear Keane Family,
You can't know how hard your loss has hit me. I have long been a fan of "Family Circus". I am "Jeffy" and it always made being a little bit ADD okay :>) Be grateful that you had such wonderful parents. What a generation. I am an elementary art teacher here in Maine and I plan to teach my students about your dad. He was that important of an artist. He taught us all about "real life". Thank you and please, make a book of his work.

Mr. Keane taught me so many 'tips' for raising our children. The most used/understood/appreciated is a sweet
2-liner: "I don't know!" "Not me!"
Rest in Peace w/ your beloved wife at your side. All the angels need your continued wit to smile on us!
I Loved reading these comics. He touched the hearts of many....Sorry for your loss
Growing up in Scottsdale and Phoenix area, this was always my favorite comic in the Sunday paper or just by itself. I had a friend named "Not Me" in my family as well.
Will miss Dolly especially. Hope somehow
the strip can appear. Appreciated Mr. Keane's work. Lenny Rubenstein Indianapolis, IN

I enjoyed the Family Circus comic strip for many many years. I was sorry to read about Mr. Keane's passing. He will truly be missed by all who loved him, cared about him and enjoyed his work. The Family Circus has given me so much pleasure and thought prevoking moments. I have appreciated his work so much and thanks and prayful thoughts go to his family.
My heart is sad and yet smiling as I think of the cartoons that are on my office wall and on the refrigerator. He hit home so often that my mother-in-law would cut them out and send them to me, just in case I missed that particular one. RIP and prayers and thoughts to his family.
To the family/friends I am sorry for your loss.I always enjoyed reading Family Circus and that brightened my day. You lived a good life and cheered up may people all over the world, take your well deserved rest.
Thank you so much for years of somthig to look forward too.
What a loss. I especially appreciated that Mr. Keane did not exclude his characters' late relatives from a continuing concern for their loved ones after they took their places in God's presence. I heard he was a devout Catholic, so that makes sense. Now that Bil's joined that echelon of the communion of saints, we know he'll be praying for us all, as we are for him and his family.
Mr. Keane, As a little boy, I would "read" Family Circus and wondered if you knew my family, becuase it mirrored our daily lives. Thank you for your work. God bless you!
I didn't read the comics. But I read Family Circus. How a few seconds of reading this special man's work could make some sense of this world is amazing.
My condolences To Mr. Keane's family and friends. Rest in peace, Bil.
i enjoy the everyday life that was/is in his comics, i would often point something out to family and say "this is you" thoughts and prayers to family and friends
I have enjoyed reading Family Circus for many years. God bless Bil Keane for sharing his family all these years.
Mr Keane brought a lot of comfort to all of us, he will be missed.
May the God who gives comfort, be with all Bil's family and friends.
God gives strength to those who mourn.
Thank you Bil for years of laughter. Your comic strip kept me going even during the darkest moments of my life. I have most of the Family Circus comic books. I will never part with them. When ever I need a laugh or inspiration, I just grab one of my many books and start reading and soon my problems and troubles just melt away. I even have the same birthday as Jeffy. To the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Bil Keane, I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that he is in Heaven making everyone laugh. RIP Bil.
I was saddened to read of Bil Keane's passing. Growing up in Phoenix during the 1960s, we shared the same Dr. Cuthbertson as the Keane family and I still have a copy of the Family Circus panel referencing a family visit to the doctor's office.
I am also proud to have an autographed copy of the 1971 "Just Wait Till You Have Children of Your Own" from both Bil Keane and Erma Bombeck.
Blessings to the Keane family -- I hope you find comfort knowing Bil (and your family) brought such Joy to so many.
Bil Keane, you made me feel warm inside with the Family Circus. By far the best comic strip ever. Rest in piece dear man. The world lost a great icon. Keep them laughing wherever you are.
Family Circus is only 1 of 3 comics I read. Clean, God in the home, two parents for the children. A pleasure to pick up the paper on Sundays! Mr. Keane, thank you for sharing your talents with us and, to the family, thank you for sharing Mr. Keane with us. God bless you all. We've lost a great one, but we are so lucky to have him watching over us all. May his spirit inspire all young comic writers!
I offer my condolences to the Keane family and I was glad for the wonderful humor Bill Keane gave over the years.
I sincerely hope one of his son's can carry on the wonderful work he started. I would not like the strip to come to an end.

Thank you for all the Sundays I looked forward to your comic family.
What a loss! How grateful I am to have enjoyed such wonderful cartoons.
Such a talent! Bil will be missed.
God Bless the Keane family.
A great cartoonist and humanitarian. He is one of the best along with Rube Goldberg. They don't have much in the way of "funny papers" anymore.
Thanks, Bil, for the years of gentle, loving humor and hilarious family situations. As many mothers know, your family always increases with Ida Know and Not Me moving in as soon as the kids get vocal. My deepest condolences to your family and friends on your loss. Now you join the other great cartoonists that have left us: Walt Kelly, Al Capp, Charles Schultz and many others. We will miss you.
Very sorry to hear of his passing I looked forward each week to viewing his comic strips. God Bless You Bil!

I wish to be one of many. To wish condolences on Bill Keane on his passing. He lived a full life and created a very good strip. I hope the family/children and grandchildren keep on the legacy dad/grandpa created. I will always enjoy reading this delightful comic strip. What a great man and family strip. Thanks.
God bless Bil Keane-what a cartoon icon!! I've loved reading that strip literally my entire life. Now that I have my own kids, Ida Know and Not Me make regular appearances in my house!!! My condolences to his family-he was one of a kind and the world has lost one of the last great original cartoon giants.
Loved his comics as a child and still do only now I can relate to them being a mommy of 5 kids myself. I would save my money just to be able to purchase the comic books. I still have the collection of books today and will read them over every now and then.
I received a plaque from my sister-in-law with a Family Circus saying with Mommy and kids on it. It says, "Lord, please pick up my spirits and I could use some help with this house too." Our family's home isn't complete without Bil Keane's sayings. Thank you for sharing your father with us. We love him and always will.
Thank you for all you did with your gifts and talents.
My sympathy goes to the family, hope they can continue this comic strip. Love it.
NJSL in Rexburg, Idaho
Family Circus has been part of my life since I was a girl in the 1960's and I enjoyed sharing it with my sons in the 1980's and `90's. Thank you, Bil, for this precious slice of family life. My sympathy and appreciation to Mr Keane's family. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us through your dad's strip.
My deepest condolences to his family, such a wonderful talent... glad he shared it with his son. His cartoon always warms my heart & brings a smile to my lips. I read two things in the paper every day... the obituaries and the comics... God Bless you all.
My favorite cartoonist. I sent a comment by my daughter in to Bil and he used it in a comic and sent us his original drawing. We cherish that.
My favorite was the several camping series over the years. My mother would send them to me - and often they mirrored what was happening in my family of 3 children. I hope son Jeff continues with the cartoon. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Keane family today. Thank you so much for so many delightful moments in our days - Bil Keane you will be missed by so many.
Another irreplaceable icon of my youth is gone ~ fortunately his Family Circus will live on. As Dolly once said while looking a golden opening amidst dark clouds "Wow! Somebody must have left the door to heaven open!" Peaceful journey Mr. Keane and thank you!
The Family Circus comic is the best. I feel so bad that Daddy has died. I have followed this comic for at least 45 years and it is the first thing I look at in the newspaper each evening.
My condolances to all the Family Circus
kids and their families.
I do hope the comic can continue under
the son Jeffy - that would be wonderful. God bless you all!
How sad. I certainly hope the comic strip does not come to an end, and I hope if his son keeps the strip active, he will do it in the same
simple way that Bil always did. I still have many of them that I cut out
and saved over the years. Piney Flats, TN reader
Enjoyed his work tremendously. He either made me smile or cry sometimes. I have one cartoon, saved since '94, where it says, "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a GIFT. That's way it's called the present." I always have it posted at my desk and it reminds me to stop and enjoy each day, because tomorrow isn't a sure thing. Thank you Mr. Keane.
Enjoyed a conversation with Bil years ago about cartooning and life; truly enjoyable and talented man (my Dad was a cartoonist too, they had a lot in common). Thoughts and prayers go out to your family; we are all blessed to have Bil Keane in our lives...
I love reading the "Family Circus" with all its warmth and love. Blessings and love to the Kean family in their time of sorrow.

My prayers go out to the family...my favorite "Family Circus" cartoon is on my refrigerator...I laminated it...The cartoon feature a census taker and was interviewing Mommy...his response is she was "Just a Housewife" but in Mommy's mind the balloons depicted all the roles that being a housewife entailed and that cartoon reflected myself...I have always enjoyed "Family Circus" throughout my life...thank you for Bil for creating such a wonderful, wholesome cartoon for all ages can enjoy...RIP.
I always look forward to Family Circus and thank Mr. Keane for all the years of entertainment. I was so sorry to learn of his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Shortly after my artist husband died, Bil Keane published the cartoon with the two older kids looking at the sky and saying "The best artists in heaven get to paint butterfly wings and sunsets." You will never know how comforting this was to me! I cut it out and it is pasted up on my work bulletin board . . . . where I can see it every day! Blessing and peace to the family.
I have appreciated Family Circus so much over the years. So thankful for Mr. Keane and his family for bringing warmth into the world.
My condolences to the family during this time of bereavement. The Family Circus is a wonderful cartoon. He will be greatly missed. God Bless!

Thank You Bil Keane...many a life you have touched and many a smile you produced...God Bless you and your family.
Dear Keane Family,
May you be comforted to know that millions of people were touched with joy because of Mr. Bil. Each family member is being lifted up in prayer. God bless you.
I am very saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Keane. From the time I was a little girl, I remember my grandmother and my mother cutting out strips and putting them on the refrigerator. I have done the same. Mr. Keane always remembered to credit God for the beauty in this world, and never had a negative or mean sprited strip. I always felt like a member of the "Family Circus" family. While I don't always look at the comics, I never missed the Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving comic strips. He was an inspiration and a gift from God. I pray that your family gets through this difficult time and that you are able to not only CELEBRATE his life, but smile and laugh when you think of him during this time. If it is any comfort to you, I come from a family of 8 children, (4 boys and 4 girls) and a very strong Irish, Roman Catholic upbringing, and we were always taught by our wonderful parents to celebrate life and know that there is a heaven to strive for. I believe that Mr. Keane strived for heaven in all his comic strips. I hope that the local paper here in Connecticut (the Hartford Courant) continues to run the strip. If they are stopped, know that they will be missed terribly. God Bless and keep Mr. Keane and his family always in His infinite care.
My husband and I always read the Family Circus first thing and as we have a bunch of Boys we always related to the antics of the kids! Thank You Mr. Keane for your uplifting of our lives and sense of humor. May God Bless your homecoming! The Mulders Terril, Iowa
May God be with you now and in the days to come.
May God comfort the Keane family in this time of sorrow. Family Circus was my favorite, always saved reading it last as I would get dizzy with Billy in the backyard.
For as long as I remember; I have read, enjoyed and took to heart Mr. Keane's words. When my Father died, he had one about the children's Grandpa that went to heaven. This helped my Mother so very much. I sent them all to her. Words of Wisdom.
To the family of this JOYOUS man: We know that the world was better because of that one celled comic strip, words and expressions because of Bil Keane. He will be sorely missed. I have read these since I was 10, when he started. Heaven is getting his cartoons now and so many are still enjoying these.
Thanks for crossing our paths, Mr. Keane.
Dear Keane family, Bil's cartoons were always among my favorites. I remember as a kid figuring out that "Barfy" had a double meaning and thinking it was hilarious. God bless all of you in this difficult time.
I grew up reading Family Circus at the kitchen table with my siblings and I now share this tradition with my children. Thank you for filling my house with laughter. RIP Mr.Keane...
"Family Circus" has always been one of the very best comic strips as it must have always been drawn with love for his family. He used the gifts God gave to him to the fullest and the rest of us benefitted. Sincere sympathies to his family and closest friends.
To Bill. We will miss and always love you! Bud and KIt Warner, our Mom and Dad have passed on too. I hope you are all having a great time in Heaven just like you did in the good years you had in Phoenix AZ. Bud truly enjoyed drawing The Family Circus with you all those years. You all had so many good times. You are probably drawing with him right now. The love of art never passes with you . It stays for all of us to enjoy. You and Thel were very dear friends of dad and mom, the kind of friends they could always depend on. You were always giving. Even at the end of their lives you were there for them and so many others. The way life passes it will not be long and we will meet again up there in Heaven. We are sending our love to Jeff and all your kids and family. This will be a very sad day for us. You will be missed by so many! Sending our love and prayers to your family. Russ and Judy Warner ( Bud & Kit Warner's Kids) .
Family Circus is one of my favorites . I grew up reading it . He is one man that will be missed. God needed a great cartoonist your family is in my prayers for comfort.
I will certainly miss the wonderful cartoons that Mr. Keane created. My students in school loved them when they read the newspaper each school day. God Bless each of you as you continue life's journey without him. He truly deserved his Heavenly Reward.
Thank you for all the years of fun you gave us with your comic strip. You will be missed. Rest in peace dear man.
You will be sorely missed. Not a day goes by that I don't check out Family Circus in my local paper. My favorite is when the kids are looking at the stars and the boy says something like "God leaves the lights on so we know he's there." It's been on my fridge for years and years.
Family Circus cartoons are my favorite! Family Circus books and cartoons were part of my kids childhoods. My children had the privilege of going to school with two of Mr. Keane's grandchildren, Claire and Max. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Keane coming from Arizona to Southern California to attend the kindergarten's grandparent's tea. What a wonderful couple, wonderful parents, and wonderful grandparents! How blessed we were to have such a wonderful cartoonist to entertain and influence all of us in such a fun way! God's comfort to Mr. Keane's family at this time. What a wonderful reunion all of you will have one day in the Heavenlies!
Dear Glen and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Your father's artwork was a joy for my Mom and Dad, parents to eight kids (who also enjoyed Family Circus). We have more than one comic cut out and on the fridge and around at my parent's house right now.
As you know, we lost both our parents in the last few years and it is tough, but boy, we sure have hours of great stories and a million wonderful memories to temper the sadness.
Colleen Musker (one of John's many sisters)
Oh what memories the strip reminded me of when I was a kid. Bil, I will miss you, but your humor will live forever. May God bless you---now, and forever.
His memory will live on as we re-visit his work. Mr Keane......... Thank you for all that you have done.
They don't make cartoonists like Bill Keane anymore. Thank you for the good, decent entertainment for all those years.
Such a terrific observer of life. Neal: Our thoughts and prayers for the family.
I still to this day enjoy Family Circus. I grew up on it. I love the family and also the rememberence of the grandparent's looking down from heaven. He made North Catholic one outstanding student.
Family Circus was the always the first comic I would go to when reading the comic section. My earliest memories of it are green, since it was in the section of The Milwaukee Journal called "The Green Sheet." Even as a young child, it was easy to read and understand. Thank you for the memories and the smiles that will forever be a part of my life. :)
Growing up, Family Circus often mirrored my own family's antics. After looking at the daily comic my dad would often wonder if we had done that yet or fear we might still think of it. Needless to say, Mr. Keane provided us with many happy memories. Godspeed Mr. Keane. You certainly earned your wings.
To the Keane Family,
I have read your cartoon since I was a little girl over 30 years ago. I grew up in a way with Dolly,Billy,Jeffy and PJ. Bil gave us a very unselfish gift he shared his family with the world. I pray for comfort for your family and peace to know he is with Thelma again.
Bil gave us all a reprise from the world today to an idyllic place. One of my favorites, I will cherish the work and genius of this kind man forever. God bless you all.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful
years of joy. Just always great to see such a great family that always understood what life was all about and how important it was to be there for each other and share thier feelings.
Thank you again.
I'm sure God's got Bill doing Family Circus for the newspaper in Heaven. I'm looking forward to reading them one day. Thanks for the smiles, Bill. Most days I sure needed them.//scf
Bil Keane provided me and my brother and cousins an opportunity to bond as kids and teens over his work. We poured through the collections of his strips like kids today do with the video games. He was thoughtful, funny, insightful and most importantly real,
He will be missed, but his work is timeless! Thank you bil for all you did for the world!
To Mr. Keane's family,
Thank you for sharing Bil with us. God bless you all and my prayers are with you. The memories He gave us will not be forgotten.
I'm the youngest of a family of 9 children and we all looked forward to the 'Family circus' 'toon every day. Our 10th 'child' 'not me' enjoyed it too! I wish families were as oriented today as they were then. God bless and enjoy now being with your blessed wife.
Thanks for the memories and making me laugh every day.
Thank you Mr. Keane for many years of quality, wholesome, entertainment. I enjoyed reading it as a child and get even more out of it as an adult now that I am a parent myself. God bless you and your family.
When I was in junior high, my mom would buy me the Family Circus books whenever she could find them. I would read and re-read them for hours. The Family Circus has brought so much joy to my life. Mr. Keane, you will always have a special place in my heart.
I sat next to him on plane ride in college. He and his wife were kind and friendly. We had a nice conversation. He drew a quick picture of Billy for me saying "Hi Brent". I had always read the comic, so it was meaningful to me. Rest in peace.
Thanks, Mr. Keane for all the smiles. All my thoughts and prayers go out to your loved ones.
My most favorite comic strip ever...so sorry he had to go but his wife was missing him so much.....
I look forward to his cartoon everyday and Sundays'. Please, please
may it keep up through his son. His family should be proud of
him. May his soul rest in peace.
Growing up in a family of six children, we always rushed each Sunday to read 'Family Circus' in the local Pittsburgh PA newspaper. My dad convinced us that it was about our family. Thank you, Mr. Keane, for being a big part of my childhood. You will be dearly missed by me, RIP Mr. Keane. My deepest condolences to his family.

I too intended to be a cartonist as a young man, doing cartoons for the highschool news paper, and in college writing and illustrating a monthly mailer for a beer distributor. Advertising, printing, and publishing is where it lead. I really wanted to be another Bil Keane, I certainly had the inspiration with a family of twelve wonderful children that sang Irish songs at homes for the aged.
It was with great sadness that I have learned of Mr. Keane's death. He touched so many of our lives in a way that goes very deep. I will forever reread his books in a new and special way; in them we will all smile together.
with loving sympathy to his family from families the world over.
RIP Mr Keane, you brought many a smile and love to households all over the country. There are going to be a lot of people that will want to hold Jeffy in their arms. God bless your family. And thankyou for shareing them with us.
Will miss his work. Family circus was no doubt my favorite. Anna
Love, love, love his work. Always have. Always will. Thank you for a life well-lived and a talent well-shared.
Love, love, love this cartoon family...sooo real! Can't wait for the paper every morning to see what the kids are up to today. RIP.
My favorite cartoonist. Always read his cartoons before any of the others. They were so down to earth and typical of everyday happenings in family life as well as funny and cute.
I am in shock at this passing of a really good Man! This is a part of who we are. He wil be missed, greatly by all. My prayers for Bill and Thel and the rest of his family
God Bless you and may he give your family solace. You will be truly be missed, much as dear long-time friend would be.
Prayers to your loved ones.
Rest in peace Mr. Keane, you made millions smile and hug their children every day, thank you!
Alway LOVED reading Family Circus, it was one of my favorites I always looked for, I would ask my dad for the comics, he used read the Sunday "Pittsburgh Press"
Bless Bill Keane's family and the great creative & wholesome heritage they have built and continue emulate in our modern culture.
I have read Keane's Family Circus for most of my life and Mr. Keane's passing is a great loss to our American culture. Heartfelt condolences to his family.
He was the GREATEST. Your family was ALL of our family from one cartoon or another. Family Circus was a regular in our family dating back as far as our Grandmother. I wish I had a dollar for every cartoon that my Mother cut out and gave each one of us kids. Somehow one of Bil's writings of the day..could relate to one of us.
He died doing what he loved to do and lived a long life. I hope Jeff continues with the wonderful Family Circus so my Grandchildren can get clipped cartoons from me as well.
God Bless you all and may you rest in peace, Bil. Your work lives on forever.
I just love "Family Circus". I read it in the online newspaper everyday. It always makes me smile & wonder if there is a family like this out there somewhere. My sympathies to all the Keane family. He will be missed.
God Bless you all.
Read this cartoon every day and always get a smile in return. God bless and may you rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to all the members of Mr. Keane's family.
Mr. Keane, if ever there was a man to clone, it would be you. Too bad we didn't clone you because we could use many many more men like you today. I only hope that there are. Godspeed.
I have the note that Bil wrote to me in answer to my request that he compile a collection of his Christmas cartoons into a book and I treasure that note. I have saved so many of those cartoons, some from the early 60s and bring them out each year. Bil's family reflected events in my own family and I joked that he must have been spying on us, but I went on to have 4 boys and 4 girls. Thank you Bil for being such a part of family life both on earth and now in Heaven. God bless you, Marie Nielsen
Thanks Bil for your comic strip. I have enjoyed reading it for many years. You always made me smile. RIP Judith Lee, Chittenango, NY
Prayer to the family, what a loss of a wonderful man. He has made my family and myself smile everyday that I can remember.
I love Family Circus, that is the first and most of the time only comic I read in the papers: his humor will truly be missed, now it looks like Jeffy will have to continue the legacy for real.
RIP Mr. Keane
This was always the the first comic that I would read growing up. Thanks for the many memories. DPW Houston, Tx

I swear he was tuned into my house when my kids were little, soo many things they said have appeared in his columns. I hope someone is going to continue his work.
I remember when "mom changed her hair style" - what a commotion! Go with God and God bless your family.
My first read each morning. I cut out the 3 week vacation this summer to Boston. May God Bless the Keane Family
Family Circus has always been my very favorite cartoon! Bil will be dearly missed and has been greatly loved for many years. God bless his family and find comfort in knowing others care....RIP, Bil
This was sad news. I have loved Family Circus since my Aunt Mae introduced me to it in the 60's. She used to send me appropriate clips of it when I was raising my young family.
Family Circus was so real and uplifting when so much of the news was depressing. We will cherish your memory Mr. Keane and we hope that Family Circus will continue to be printed for many years.
I have loved "Family Circus" ever since I was little. It has been part of America for decades. My sincere sympathy to the Keane family.
Family Circle reminded me so much of my family. I enjoyed this cartoon and will sorely miss Mr. Keane. Prayers are sent to his family.
May God bless Mr. Keane. RIP, and thanks for the memories!
My two grandchildren and I will miss your wonderful talent...R.Bennett,Haddonfield,NJ
My sympathy to the Keane family. I have been reading Family Circus since I was a child - and enjoy the strip to this day. I pray it will continue to be printed. It is one of the calming points of my day. Thank you, Keane family, for sharing Bil, and his work, with all of us. We greatly appreciate every frame.
I looked forward to reading his drawing each day. Being a teacher, very easy to relate and enjoy the "family values". Sympathy goes out to his extended family. We need more artists like Keane and Schulz that not only make use chuckle but have the family involved from grandparents to PJ. THANKS for all the fond memories.
thank you for giving us "family circus".you are gone but you wont be forgotten.rest in peace
A staple of my childhood and adult life. I saved a few that really spoke to me, including one from Feb.16, 1994. Thank you Mr. Keane.
I once lived near Bil at Paradise Valley,
& he was always a talented class-act. His
personal touch on "Family Circus" will be
missed by everyone. Condolences to his
family. RIP friend.
Mydeepest sympathies to the family. I have followed Family Circus since the beginning. It was the first strip I read to my kids - they still read it today. He must have been a great guy! Lois Cobb (Wakefield, RI)
What a sad day for America. Your comic strip has been a mainstay for many years for everyone. Not everyone reads every comic in the funny papers, but EVERYONE reads Family Circus. It was so family like and down to earth and meant something to everyone. You could tell it was drawn with love and meaning. My heart goes out to your family. You will be sorely missed.
I was saddened when I saw that Bil had passed away. I loved his comic strip and at one time had all of the books. He was so kind to autograph a number of the books which I still treasure today. His comic strip was funny because it had reality in it which we could relate to. He will be greatly missed. The family is in our thoughts and prayers.
I love to read Family Circus every day. It makes me laugh. I can relate to what happens in the comic strip. Good Bye friend.
To Mr. Keane's family:
Thanks for sharing your lives with so many people through the years. It always seemed like he was looking into our home and drawing a cartoon about us. I'm sure many families felt this way. I do hope the strip will continue because it has provided so much pleasure for a lot of folks. RIP,Mr. Keane....
I always loved his strip....may your memories and those of the Family Circus keep you smiling....
Another piece of Americana slips away. Mr. Keane's Family Circus was one of the comic staples on which we readers were able to rely. Even when the rest of the paper (and some comics) were depressing, preachy, and downright upsetting, one had only to turn to Family Circus for a bit of comfort, humor, and a lift in spirit. Mr. Keane 's life's work touched millions in a most positive way. Would that more of us could do a fraction of so much good. God rest Mr. Keane's soul and comfort his family in this time of sadness.
T. Collins, Willoughby Ohio
We DID see our own family in these wonderful, insightful, beautifully done works. What a gift Mr. Keane gave us all.
My sympathy goes toall of the family. This was the first comic strip, I read, when I was a kid.& I still love reading it, today. My mother and grandmother loved reading it to me, and we loved the books, too. I loved the things, that the kids said and the adventures, they went to. Thanks Mr. Keane, for a great job! I only wish, I could wrote him, when he was still was with us.
