I met Bill quite a few times times at the annual stockholders meetings and he was a great guy, just like his dad,Big Bill France! He willingly signed several Daytona International Speedway history books for me as did Jim France. His mother and dad had also siged them for me in the late 80's. He will be missed by all of us!!
June 07, 2007
What has made NASCAR so different in this impersonal sports market is the feeling that we as fans are part of the family, not just dollars at the ticket window or bodies in seats. That is the legacy of the France family. No other sports fans in the world feel a loss like race fans and today we do feel a loss. But we also feel grateful for a man and a family who did so much to make our sport what it is today. Our hearts and prayers go out to the France family. We were proud of "Big Bill", proud of "Billy" and proud Jim, Brian and Lisa. Thanks for the memories of the past and the ones to come in the future.
June 07, 2007
I am thankful to have been associated with NASCAR and to have known the France family for many years. God bless Mary Jane,Bryan,Lisa and all the rest.Best wishes to all and God speed to Bill Jr.
June 07, 2007
Ironically, I lost my dad in June two years ago - he and Bill didn't always see eye-to-eye, but I know my dad had tremendous respect for Bill Jr. , just as he had for Bill Sr. The world is a little sadder now but heaven is much brighter! May God bless you - Betty Jane, Lesa, Brian, Jim and the entire family!
June 07, 2007
Whata great loss we have suffered in loosing Bill France, Jr. If not for him, who knows where Nascar would be today. I came into Nascar during a hard time in my life in 1987 and found the people to really feel like a big "family". In a world where sports are full of bad mouthed, fighting, beat em up sports, Nascar is a place I can take the family and be assured we will enjoy our time and not have to worry. Granted I have seen some tempers flare(who wouldn't, think about being in traffic and how we feel) but if it tries to get out of hand, they are fined and it is stopped right there. This is the vision of Bill France, aplace where family can enjoy time together and mingle with their "extended family" God bless you & my prayers are with the family!
June 07, 2007
I had the fortune of meeting Mr. France many times. He was a great individual, willing to talk with you, no matter who you were. He brought life to this town with motorsports and his passion for racing. I have lived in this area for 42 years and have seen first hand what Mr. France has done for the town and for the sport. I would like to send my condolences to the entire family, especially to my high school friend Brian as well as to Lesa. God Bless all of you and keep strong through faith. I will certainly pay tribute to Mr. France @ the up-coming Pepsi 400, as should all race fans!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.

NASCAR and NASCAR drivers were for years big supporters of a charity in Chicago I was involved with. Thanks for all the good you did!

I know that the thoughts and prayers of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
June 04, 2007

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Mr. France was a great person for Nascar and a pillar of the racing sport. I met Mr. France in September of 1998 after the great Florida woods fires. He hosted a bar-b-q for Florida firefighters.
