To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

December 17, 2010
My deepest condolences to Julie and their children. My dad took me to movies for the first time when I was 4 years old. The film we saw was The Great Race. I fell in love with the movie and Professor Fate. A few years later when I was old enough to understand what a director and what a writer is and having seen a few of the Panther movies I fell in love with Blake. His movies were very much tailored for my taste. I've named my cat Max after the Peter Falk character in The Great Race. Thanks for all the joy and laughter you brought me through the years and rest in peace, Blackie!
December 17, 2010
You are with The Lord and are at peace. May your family take comfort in that.

Blakes family name is McEdward and as a relative I have followed his career with great interest. I met him once when I was in the navy in 1939 in Long Beach. His grandfather and my grandfather were brothers and came from Scots Immigrants to St.Anicet ,Quebec, Canada in 1830. My heart goes out to his wife and family who are left with their memories of the good times they had living with a humorous icon.

To Julie and family,
My sincere sympathies and prayers go to your whole family. I know you will have so many good memories of him and they will sustain you. We have been fans of his and yours for many years. Maybe one day we will meet; my dream. Love to all of you.
December 17, 2010
I wish to begin with my greatest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Ms. Andrews and their family. God Bless each of you.
Now, I would like to credit Mr. Edwards for helping me become the demented individual I am :). I was born in 1967, I was raised watching Pink Panther movies with my folks at the cinema. Then when I was in my "tweens-teens" I was introduced to some side-splitting dark and outrageously funny movies that contributed to my "sick" sense of humor. SOB, Victor./Victoria (I fell in love with the adorable Mr. Robert Preston" during those times. I found out "Mary Poppins" was classy AND human! That drunken/broken older men can be funny, sad, charming, and embarrassing all at the same time. I cannot tell you how much I watched "That's Life"--a highly underrated movie.
Thank you so much for the great memories, the moments that made me think and ponder in between laughs. I will truly miss his work and am heartend that his legacy is so vast and will continue on for many generations. Sorry so long winded, but Rest in Peace.
December 17, 2010
Some of my most favorite times were spent enjoying his films. Heaven's Light is now brighter by one. Rest in Peace Mr. (Mc)Edwards.

December 16, 2010
I had the good fortunate to meet the great Blake Edwards on Broadway, while he was directing the beloved, talented Julie Andrews in his wonderful musical comedy, Victor/Victoria. What surprised me then was that, besides his fantastic sense of humor, there was a hint of sweetness that I had only felt in Julie. How extraodinary Blake Edwards' body of work is! What a genius, what a legacy! Thank you for the laughs, for the tears, for the inspirational moments, Mr. Edwards. I wish Julie Andrews and her family love and may God give them comfort and the strength to carry on. The Master of Comedy and Farce will surely be watching over them from above, while writing a thoroughly hilarious screenplay for angels to star in another brilliant comedy...Waldemar Lopes, from Brazil

December 16, 2010

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
