Your still in my thoughts are prayers, i keep hoping that your death is a fluke of nature, but i guess not. Your not coming back to make more movies or shows. Your passing has made a sad impression on my heart. And it still hurts, someday i will meet you in heaven, i hope. You were THE ORIGINAL COMIC and nothing will ever change it. I still watch your movies. And the shows you were in, you will always be the master of comedy. NO ONE will ever beat your status.

It was a big loss when we lost Bob Hope.
He apparently lived a good and clean life, and a legacy that does him proud.

When my midde brother Stan was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, Bob Hope brought his fellow entertainers, Jerry Colona, Frances Langford, etc. to perform for the troups.

My brother never stopped in appreciation for that program and all the entertainers who came to entertain the soldiers as they did.

It was a memory that my brother held within his heart, for the rest of his life.

God Bless Bob Hope's memory.

He was one of the "Good ones!"

...Thanks for the memory....

June 06, 2010
Wanted to let you know that I thought Mr. Hope was a great man. I loved his movies, but most of all I think he was a great American. All the effort he put into supporting our troops during the war was incredible and I am reminded of it every June 6th as I watch WWII coverage and hear his voice asking Americans to support our troops. We are forever grateful for such a wonderful person.

For Bob....

"A one of a kind."

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Saw one of his old skits on TV the other night. What an entertainer. He is really missed not only for his wit and humor but his genuine respect he showed to everyone expecially our servicemen as he tried to make their lives a little more bearable in some very unbearable situations.
Thanks for the Memories!

I have an MP3 with some of his most cherished radio shows.. I get tears when I listen...but guys aren`t supposed to ! Ha ! Bob was the greatest entertainer and is one of the last of a vanishing troupe.
May our Lord bless his family.....

The first time I saw you in person
was in 1948 at Lackland AFB and of course being from Cleveland was an
even more exciting time for me!
You gave me your autograph and I have treasured it,to this day!
I even started started hitting that
little ball in 1986..I wouldn't call it golfing, although it did
seem like it at times...
I can't ever recall when you weren't smiling and your wife must
have regaled herself in the
knowledge that she was married to
a man that everyone loved and
respected beyond the normal family
ties.
I know the grief she feels having lost my wife and two sons to death
and I share with her the memories
that you have left indelibly
ingraved in our minds and thoughts
of you and she enjoying your humor
and your lives!
Thanks for the memories,Mr. Hope and thanks for the afternoon that you shared with me and thousands of
others that day at Lackland AFB in

Without Bob Hope, I feel like the second-fiddle player who showed up one night when the lead violinist couldn't get there, thus leaving him as the only violinist in the band. "Don't worry," the bandleader told him, "we still want you to play second fiddle." Truly, for so many of us throughout the country and around the world, "Hope springs eternally" into the happiest of heart-felt memories.

Out of all the people I knew I would never meet - this one is one I honestly wish I had.
I have such respect for his life and what he stood for.
I pray that his journey in the next life is just as fullfilling ~
God Bless you Mr Hope !
August 23, 2003
Bob Hope was a special entertainer to our family - My grandmother's German immigrant family lived near the Hope family on the East side of Cleveland in those "early" years - I have a ring given to her by Bob's
brother Sid (whom I believe died just about the time WWII was ending)
Grandma said Bob was just a "kid in kneepants !" to her ( Actually, she said there were several boys in the family and that Bob "was a smart-mouth kid in kneepants". I'm tempted to believe her. )

My entire family cherishes the Bob Hope "memories" passed on by my grandmother. His films are treasures - we still smile and laugh at his zany, zingy cut-ups.

I know we're all saying it, but :
Thanks for the memories.

God bless - Tia Dillon

August 12, 2003
There has always been a desire in me to meet only three celebrities; Walt Disney, Ronald Reagan, and Bob Hope. Because of their unselvish lives, I considered them truly worth meeting.

Thank you, the family of Bob Hope, for the many years you gave to all of us, and the many Christmases you did without your loved one so that the servicemen would have a wonderful Christmas. It has always amazed me of your unselvish love for everyone, allowing Bob Hope to love the world, while many times I'm sure, you would rather have him home, and a quiet family gathering instead of being so far apart. God gave him the gift of truly loving and caring about others as very few do. Bob Hope was truly a servant of God.

I will never forget a humorous true story my parents told to me. They were attending a sports event in western Kentucky and my dad who always had a deep booming voice, cried out, look there's Bob Holt (a fellow from our home town) well, of course everyone thought he said Bob Hope and it set the crowd off. Everyone was shouting where, where is Bob Hope? My dad loved to tell that story. I hope you say hello to him for me since he has been gone 14 years. God bless you for the music and the laughs and the movies. You were one of a kind, Bob.

Mr. Hope was a gracious man. When I was in my early 20's I worked for a flower shop in Montana, Where Bob was performing at our state fair. I patientaly sat through his afternoon reshersal to honor him with a bouteniour I had made for him. When it came time to give my small gift to him I froze and became speachless. That evening he mentioned the young lady to shy to speak but able to give him a small token of her self. I salute you Mr. Hope may your legond live forever in the hearts and souls you touched. I was a Flight Attendant for TWA in the late 60's and had Bob Hope on my plane from San Francisco to St. Louis. WHAT A THRILL!!!! Someone took a picture of me with him, and it was printed in The Garland Daily News (my hometown paper). He was charming and kind, and we had good conversation about his family and his USO shows.I noticed he wore an old fashioned womans diamond wedding band on his little finger left hand and I wondered for years what it meant to him.I found out it was his mother's band. My daughter knew I would weep when he died; and I did....Bob Hope was a faithful servant and true American Hero.I have always considered myself very fortunate to have had the honor of meeting and serving him First Class in what I considered "my home"..TWA.

I will miss Bob Hope growing up with him was one of the greatest moments I've ever had.The way he entertained the audience was indeed very special. He'll always be in my memories.
July 31, 2003
When I heard of Bob's passing I was deeply moved. I also grew up with Bob in our home. The thing that got me the most was the unselfiness of the Hope family. To give of yourselves and go on holidays and bring love, joy and some peace to the troops in foreign land. There is no greater gift then to give of ones self for someone else and not looking for fame and glory for yourself but to do it because..Thru this I saw a great loving unselfish entire family. God Bless the Bob Hope family.Your husband and father was truly a God fearing loving man that is truly in the hands of the lord . I believe Bob heard the words from Jesus Christ saying well done my faithful servant come and rest. There was no other that displayed the christian values as he did. He will never be forgotten..
Love and God Bless

Like millions of Americans, I grew up watching Bob Hope. Upon hearing of Mr. Hope's passing, my father said "My buddy is gone." Daddy was entertained by Mr. Hope, Rita Hayworth and others while stationed in Germany during WWII. I have a feeling Mr. Hope is entertaining a Heavenly Host of troups right now. Many thanks to the Hope family for all you have done for our servicemen and women. Bob is gone from this earth but will never be forgotten. He was America's buddy. Our love and prayers are with you.
July 31, 2003
All those years. All those laughs. My childhood memories include you entertaining the troops in Vietnam, and your annual Christmas show where you had the All-Americans from football. Then you cracked all those funny funny jokes. You were one in a billion, Mr. Hope. I wish I had the chance to have met you. I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

To The Family of Bob Hope:

Bob was truly one of the Greatest people to walk on this earth. His dedication to the American troops Overseas was second to none. I still remember when I was in the Viet Nam Conflict and Bob brought his show to us. It was like we forgot what problems there were in the World for that period. The joy he gave us with his jokes and silly comedy went so far to cheer us up. I grew up with this man in my home. He will never be forgotten, and will be in my prayers forever.

One less laugh when one is needed, on less generous gift to help those in need.

Republican, Conservative, Compasionate, Generous...words rarely used together and not profound enough to express the total man.

Thanks for being there from WWII to Desert Storm. For taking your adopted country and making it a much better place, for us...and the world. A true patriot.
July 31, 2003
What a wonderful Human Being...There will never be anyone that will ever compare to this kind and caring Man.
July 31, 2003
Dear Hope family, I send my deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved Bob. On April 2nd I lost my fiance, Pete Schmit, of 10 years. The one thing I miss most about Pete was the way he made myself and everyone laugh. I hope that Pete and Bob are together now enjoying a few laughs and peaceful rest together. Sincerely, Lori Klein

In a book that Pete had, I found this quote: "Read the comics," The most wasted of all days is the one during which you have not laughed.
-Nicolas Chamfort

To all the Hope family - You have my deepest condolences at this time of loss. I grew up watching Bob Hope on television and have always greatly admired his dedication to the USO. I loved all his television specials and his wonderful wit. I actually have dreaded the day I would hear that he has passed away and was so saddened to hear the news on Monday. The comics today don't hold a candle to Mr. Hope, he was a class act and will be sorely missed. We'll never see another like him. God bless all of you.
July 30, 2003
May you live forever in the hearts of eveyone you touched.

Mrs. Hope,

I grew up watching Bob Hope's TV shows and trips abroad to entertain the troops. The world has lost its greatest entertainer, and most importantly, its greatest humanitarian. He will be missed by so very many people and will never be forgotten! God bless you, Bob Hope.
July 30, 2003
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hope family. Bob Hope will be greatly missed by everyone. He was truly a great entertainer and knew how to make everyone laugh!
July 30, 2003
As a Corporal in Army back in '47 or '48 I met Bob when he stayed at the Kronberg Officers Club out side Frankfurt, Germany. I showed him to his room and got a handshake, still remembered, and a joke about the facilities.
An American Icon is gone but will never be forgoten.
July 30, 2003
To the family of Bob Hope: Thank you for sharing such a wonderful, gifted man, with the rest of the world. I feel so blessed to have been able to enjoy his movies and giving of himself to our service men and women, during my lifetime. He will never be forgotten. Thanks for the Memories you have given the world, Bob!

My Dad was a Marine and was suppose to escort Mr. Bob Hope around the back of the stage during a show. As it turned out Mr. Hope came off stage put his arm around my dad and escorted him around the back of the stage. My dad will always have that memory. God Bless Bob Hope and his family.

July 30, 2003
What a legacy you have left with us.
Thanks for the Memories will always be with us.Like many others I enjoyed one of your shows.
July 30, 2003
Bob Hope was a great man. Generous and considerate. My husband, a Vietnam veteran, has always had positive things to say about Mr. Hope and the unselfish service he gave to the military.
July 30, 2003
We hear of many heros in our time. But a true hero gives of ones self without question. This defines the very character of MR. Bob Hope. As a child I remember watching Operation Entertainment filmed in Vietnam. He put himself in the possible line of fire to bring a smile to the soilders who were mostly kids, homesick and scared. There will never be another one like him!
July 30, 2003
The absolute joy that Mr. Hope brought to the world is immeasurable. Humankind is blessed for having had the opportunity to share this planet with a person of such high moral caliber. Deepest condolances to Mrs. Hope and the Hope's Family and Friends. Thanks to all of you for having so lovingly shared him with us these many years.
July 30, 2003
I saw Mr Hope at the old Hippodrome
Theater here in Baltimore when I was
about 12 yrs old with my Aunt. He was wonderful and I have been a fan ever since.I am 66 yrs old now and have seen everything he has ever done and watched almost every show he was on. He will be truly missed. He has left a void that can't be filled.
July 30, 2003
Mr. Hope, you were a WONDERFUL man!!! You did sooo much for our troops over the years. You will surely be missed. God bless you and your family.
July 30, 2003
I have seen Bob Hope on television, in the movies, and on stage. He always gave of himself and made us laugh. In these trying days, we will miss his ability to make us laugh. But luckily, he will live on in movies and television and future generations will continue to laugh at this very funny man. Our sympathies to the Hope family.
July 30, 2003
To whom that is concerned,
I offer my deepest condolances. I will keep you all my prayers and thoughts in the future.
July 30, 2003
God gave you a gift,
and you used it well!
You truly were an inspiration
to us all.
Through peace and war,
you were there making us laugh.
While I was very young during some of your acts, I know of many people
whose lives you affected.
Thanks For The Memories!!!!!!
July 30, 2003
Thanks for the many memories, that we will cherish for all of time.
July 30, 2003
The top three entertainers I have ever seen on stage were Bob Hope, Bob Hope and Bob Hope! The three shows I saw starring Bob Hope were unrivaled by the master of comedy! He was the best! His deliverance of a story was excellent. He would start a story, go on to another, leaving the audience bewildered, wondering why he forgot the punchline. Age, perhaps? But, oh, he would come back to that story and intertwine the other one with it, creating an even greater punchline, to the delight of his audience at both the joke and his brilliance. I heard Delores, his lovely wife sing onstage at his show. Her voice was beautiful.
God Bless!
July 30, 2003
My beloved WWII vet father, Paul T. Arslanian of Cleveland, left this earth on 72799. Bob Hope was his absolute all-time favourite, and therefore mine as well. It seems that the two funniest gentlemen I've ever known departed on the same date, and I would stake my life on the fact that the two of them have the rest rolling in the aisles by now! Heartfelt thanks to all Hope family members for having shared Cleveland Bob with the rest of the world. Nobody loves the UMP??? Beg to differ ... this one WAS the apple of EVERYONE's eye! Thank you.
July 30, 2003
Mr Hope, you were a genius and one of those rare people who combined the dry British sense of humour of your country of birth with the dazzle of your beloved America. Modern comedians have so much to learn from your timing and delivery, you have no equal. We golfers are sad for your loss, you made our serious game so much fun. Hope you are 1 up on Crosby in your first match.
July 30, 2003
Mr Hope
You never forgot your birthplace here in England. Thanks for remaining an Anglophile all your life. You were a comedian of great class and will set the standard for years to come.
July 30, 2003
"Bob Hope made people around the world happy for 100 years, most of it through laughter. He was extremely beloved and will be dearly missed. Instead of mourning, we should celebrate his life like he wanted us to do."
July 30, 2003
OUR WORLD HAD YOU FOR A 100 YEARS, BUT GOD WILL BE LAUGHING FOR ETERNITY. GOD BLESS AND FROM ALL OF US EARTHLINGS, "THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES."
July 30, 2003
Bob Hope touched us all by his ability to fill a need; the need to make us laugh and feel like we were one big family. By entertaining our troops all over the world and us in America with his warm mischievous smile and great humor, we all feel the loss of "one of our own." We lost someone who epitomizes what giving is all about, and Bob Hope gave us his all and his best. In return, the world has been blessed with being able to experience someone who gave unselfishly of himself "just for a laugh".

"Thanks for the memories," Bob. G'd bless you and your family. Keep smiling.
July 30, 2003
Whenever you went to see anything with Bob Hope in it; you knew it would be high quality, funny, and something you could take the whole family to. One regret I have is that I never got to see him in person. I have many of his movies taped and I will treasure them all the more. Blessings on his family and close friends.
One of my favs was "The Lemon Drop Kid" and the other one was where he played the mayor of NYC. I don't remember the title of it but it was great. Thanks, Bob, for all the many memories. Sincerely, Mary Lee Mousel
July 30, 2003

SIR:
You will be missed, but forever loved by us all. I salute you.
U.S.Army (retired).
July 29, 2003
No word of mine could begin to describe the atmosphere of attending one of his USO appearances. Suffice it to say that he managed to push back the veil of homesickness, dissapate the aura of daily fear, and bring back a smile to those who had forgotten how. He brought a moment of peace, and a lifting of spirit, that no American, had ever done before, and now, will never do again.
Bob gave an interview outside of a hospital in Da Nang, where, after being thanked by several unit commanders, (which included Gen. Westmoreland), said that he was there to thank us, for sacrifices made by the boys he visited in that hospital, and the guys who were there, doing the job their country asked them to do.
Imagine that,..him coming there, to thank us. And it truly was not just words written on a page.
Bob, just in case you didnt hear it back then, You're most Welcome.
The Veterans of America hold you in the fondest of memories, and are saddened by the passing of such a magnificent comrade in arms.
July 29, 2003
To Mrs.Hope and her family,

Thank you for allowing Mr.Hope to touch our hearts and our home. Our troops and the rest of the world. Mr.Hope was always a member of our family via the television and movie screen. Thank you Mr. Hope for the 'memories' you gave my family. The smiles are endless. May God continue to bless your family at this time.
July 29, 2003
No entertainer has ever done as much for his country and his fellow americans as Bob Hope. I suspect that no one ever will. He was an amazing, caring, giving, unselfish human being, not to mention funny. I wish I had had the pleasure of meeting him. After watching specials about him all night last night It really made me ashamed of myself for not doing as much for others in my life, as I should have. I believe in Angels I believe he was one and now he has been called home. Thank you Mr. Hope and I do look forward to meeting you someday. May God Bless your family for sharing you with the rest of us.
July 29, 2003

And now at 50 years old I still watch them on Saturday morning's when I can, so I can get my laugh on for the day. Although Bob's gone now, he will still keep me smiling. I know he'd want it that way. Did anyone hear what Bob said when he was asked where he would want to be buried by a family member? He said surprize me! Boy! That's just like Bob! Have A Good One Bob!

Bob Hope has his place in entertainment history. He has touched many with his talent, and has shown his patriotism to all.

Who now of comparable talent will take up his mantle?

May the Lord God bless his soul and his family as much as he has blessed us.

With the passing of Bob Hope I feel like a warm and wonderful part of my life has left me. I can remember as a child in the 40's and 50's going to see his movies and how, on the nights he was on the radio, my father would go to the bakery and buy fresh doughnuts and we would drink hot chocolate and eat doughnuts while we listened to him. I know God has greeted him by saying " a job well done my son". May God bless his family. Bob Hope was a blessing to all of us.

Bob Hope was there for us in war and peace with a joke that fit the times. He was the epitome of integrity. I didn't agree with him about the Vietnam War but I know he loved this country and I know he loved his audience too. Thanks for the memories Bob. Nancy

Bob Hope, was an American true to heart. He went where brave men feared to go, when it came to supporting our Troops and our President. He made the world a better place for all americans. With out him serving our country the way he did, I am sure our soldiers and sailors would not have been able to make it through those tough times during war. I am a US Navy Vet., and I for one appreciate what he did for our troops. He Is a True Hero amoung Men. In his life, he did make the world a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and a grieving nation. G-d Bless

" THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES...... "
July 29, 2003
When I heard of his passing I was saddened. I knew it was coming I just somehow hoped it would never get here. Although I am only in my late 30's, I found my entertainment in the shows that included not only Mr. Hope, but his pal, Bing, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn and the likes of those great names. As a child finds amusment and fantasy at Disneyland, I found my amusement, fantasy and love in the movies of early Hollywood. There will never again be people of Mr. Hope's caliber in my lifetime. I try to explain to my 9 year old daughter the tears that fall from my eyes. All she can understand is someone, she never met, has died. My heart goes out to the many family members and friends of Mr. Hope's. The stars are truly going out in Hollywood.
July 29, 2003
I, as thousands of other GI's, would like to thank Mr. Hope and his family for allowing the GI's to have his visits for many years. I was lucky enough to see him once in Korea and three times while I was in Viet Nam. To his family, thank you for sharing.

As a golfer, I would be slicing it out-of-bounds without an entry in this particular guestbook, thanking Bob Hope for his humor, his class, and his generosity.

Bob's tee shots always "went straight down the middle", because he knew how to aim at our hearts.

"Thanks for the memories" and for the clam-bakes of our dreams, Bob. What you did for golf was only a taste of what you did for humanity.

Mr. Hope was a true giant in American show business. The country's loss is Heaven's gain.I know it's probably already a cliche, but it can't be summed up better than, 'Bob, thanks for the memories!'.
July 29, 2003
Leslie Hope left England at an early age because, as he said, "he he could never be King". How ironic that when he came to America, he would eventually become our most reverred "king". As American history is written, Bob Hope should be honored with a memorial in Washington, D.C. along side of other great Americans such as for Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Thomas Jeffeson, and others. And, as Rudyard Kipling wrote in his poem, "If",...."He could walk with kings nor lose the common touch."
Bob Hope, King!

To The Members of Bob Hope's family,
I am truly sorry for the loss of a true American Hero, I was very upset to learn about Bob's death, as I know where the house he has in Toluca Lake, CA. My father lives 5 minutes from there in N. Hollywood, and I remember as a child I used to beg my father to let me go by Mr. Hope's house to see if I could see him and his family. So, to everyone who loved Bob as much as I did, we have lost a true hero, but we will never forget what he did for us.
All of My Love for the Family and the members of the United States Military who loves Bob as much as I do.

Thanks, Bob, for everything, and for becoming an official veteran in caring for our men and women in service to the nation for so many years! Hope will spring eternal. As a vet, I not only thank Bob, but his wife and family as well for all the times they allowed this remarkable individual to share countless days away during times of conflict in support of our (his) troops.

He once said that you may not agree with everything that comes out of the White House, but you can certainly support the troops for the job they are faced with doing.

God Bless you Bob...you will be missed.

We can't say it enough. "There will never be another like Bob Hope." He truly cared about people, going out of his way (way out of his way!) to bring a smile in the midst of suffering, a lift to a downcast heart. My heart-felt gratitude to you, Mr. Hope, for all the years you brought laughter to our servicemen and women in the most remote areas of the world. And my gratitude to your family, who sacrificed all those Christmases without you on behalf of our country. May we everyone strive to be better people for having known Bob Hope, who was a true example of sacrificial giving. My prayers go out to Mrs. Hope and all the family for you loss. May your memories sustain you and the Peace of Jesus comfort you as you say your last earthly goodbyes to that good and funny man you (and we) loved so well.

While participating in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, I got to see Bob Hope's last USO Christmas Eve show. Due to the Saudi restrictions the only female who could accompany him, was his wife. The show was a blessing to all of us feeling sorry for ourselves about being seperated from our family, friends, and loved ones. After about 10 minutes you forgot about it and just enjoyed and appreciated their coming all that way to spend Christmas Eve with us. Mrs. Hope was the last act of the show. She led us all in singing "Silent Night." By the time we were through there was not a dry eye in the audience. You might say the show was the best Christmas I ever received.
July 29, 2003
I have always been a fan of Bob Hope. I believe he is one of God's angels sent to us to help us cope with today's world. If there were no laughter in the world we'd all die an early age. GOD BLESS YOU BOB & my prayers are with you Mrs. Dorothy.

To the family of Bob Hope

Bob Hope was definitely an icom for for the world of comedy. His humanity and sense of humor enligthened the world in different situations. May the following poem be of comfort and condolence to each of you.

 Eternal Life
By; Charles G. Turner, Sr.

When our earthly life is gone
It goes into an eternal rest
Because our time here on earth has been justly spent

To our life here on earth we’re born
After this we learn to deal with toils and strife
When our life ‘s work on earth is done
It’s God’s will and he says ‘well done”

When we’re in our eternal rest
After living our earthly best
God has taken us from our earthly trials and pain
Then we go to our eternal rest and gain
July 29, 2003

An anecdote - when I was 10, my parents were driving us to the Flag Pole restaurant in Stow, Ohio. On the way, mom asked dad "Did you lock the front door(of the house)? Our neighbors keep a good eye on it, but it should always be locked-up." Quickly, a 10 yr old interjected "But what if the neighbors are crooks?" They howled with laughter, and said "That was something that Bob Hope would have said!" Truly was an honor to be mentioned by my parents in the same breath as Bob Hope... Bless you and your family.

Best Wishes,
Dan Carter

The World is a little sadder today. We have lost Hope. But in remembering a good man, we may find somethind inside ourselves that he left us with, happiness and laughter. My sincere condolences to the Hope Family.

I remember watching his specials and movies with my own parents. My Dad did not let one pass. He was retired Army and it meant alot to see and here Mr. Hope. I lost both my parents a few years back, and now I feel like I lost them again.
But watching and hearing the news reels showing his humor and light makes me feel better and gave me Hope again. I am sure the Angels are rolling in the isles in laughter now, along with my parents.
God bless Bob Hope.

Lots of love to the Hope Family,

Sincerely,
The Villa and Ruben Family

I Am So Sad Over The Passing Of Bob- Hope I Met Him When I Was In Viet Nam. 12-66 During His Cristmas Show. I Was In The Hospital. At The Time. There Will Never Be A Person Like MR> Hope Again. The World Has Lost A Good Man & A Good Friend
July 29, 2003
Thanks, Bob, for all the wonderful humorous memories throughout your career. I have you still with me forever until my day comes -- through your films and videos of your tv appearances. I feel such a devastating loss that I can't fully express it. My husband can't function he is so overwhelmed with grief. He met you when he was an F4 mechanic and Sgt. in the 435th USAF in Ubon, Thailand in 1968 and you wore the red crew hat he gave you. At that point you ceased being an entertainer and you became his family. He loved you so much and has always said he dreaded the day this would happen. He considers you his hero. You gave him a moment of "home" when you were at Ubon and a feeling of "family" when you put that hat on with no reservation and no hesitation. He always looked forward to any performance on tv he could find and would cancel any other plans to watch you.

Your influence on and comfort to our military while in harm's way is beyond any award known to man. There is no ribbon, trophy, plaque, certificate or medal in existance that can represent your deeds. You gave your time, presence, heart and talent to give comfort and happiness to those in the most horrible surroundings, and for some, the last bit of happiness they ever knew. For others, a lifetime of remembering the momentary escape of loneliness and danger.

God blessed us with 100 years of enjoying you. Many more years than the normal lifetime. He holds the accurate time for everything and He knew we needed you. I can only go forward with the thought that our "Hope" is not gone -- you're just on vacation. We loved you then, we still love you now, and we'll love you more when we see you again.

As far back as I remember, there was Bob Hope and his comedy. Thanks Bob

My grandfather had the honor of going to school with Bob Hope when he and his family lived here in Cleveland. I can remember that whenever there was a Bob Hope Special on TV or some movie of his that Grandpa would say "I knew him when he was just a kid! He was one of my buddies." There was always laughter in our house when one of his specials came on.

Thanks for the memories Mr. Hope. You will be missed.

In 1964 Walt Disney threw a party at Disneyland for the Olympic athletes that were leaving to compete in the Tokyo Olympics! Bob Hope was the master of ceremonies, and Les Brown provided the music with his large band. Les Brown, Ronda Fleming, Frankie Avalon, and others, myself included, were sitting at a table having diner before the show started, when a man draped himself over me like a coat rack. It was Bob Hope and he was unsure of his monologue that evening and said to Les: "Les, I just don't think the stuff will work with the athletes and I just don't feel like I can pull it off." Les immediately replied, "Bob the material is great, and you will pull it off!" Bob immediately thanked Les for his support, and then turned to me and said: "Sorry Kid for leaning on you!"
I was 25 years old at the time.
July 29, 2003
You are greatly loved and will be immensely missed....

This earthly world will miss a great man who gave so much of himself and was a tremendous example of what all of us strive to be - a caring giving person who brought a smile to those whom he entertained over the last 100 years. Delores and Bob shared a love and marriage that lasted well beyond a lifetime - God blessed them with one another and God blessed us with them. Bob, you will be missed, but you will never ever be forgotten by all the members of the military and their families whom you gave so generously of yourself to over the many years of entertaining the troops. And as for the rest of us who were free and safe and able to enjoy your humor from the comfort of our homes watching your many movies and yearly Christmas specials, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, Mr. Hope. And, I'm sure God is already enjoying your company in heaven. Time for a new road movie for Mr. Hope - the road to a heavenly paradise. May God continue to bless Delores Hope and her family in their time of loss and may they know that their grief is shared by an entire world.

They were giving out the awards and they said a special quest had stopped by. It was Bob Hope! He said he once was in Junior Achivement and they also had a project that they sold.

It was boom -a-rangs the only problem with them Bob Hope said they all came back. What a wonderful person. I was lucky enough to meet him.

July 29, 2003
Back when I was about 5 or 6 years old I came down with Rheumatic Fever. This was around 1952 or '53.
I was admitted to a children's hospital here in Chicago called La Rabida. Bob Hope was one of the biggest contributer's and fund raisers for the hospital. The main lobby of the hospital had, and probably still has, a large oil painting of Mr. Hope. I was in the hospital for about 10 weeks. During that time Mr. Hope came to visit the Hospital and came around to the various wards. I remember him coming to my bed, shaking my hand, cracking a joke and offering some words of encouragement. He'll always have a special place in my memories.
July 29, 2003

July 29, 2003
Bob Hope was the greatest entertainer of the century. I feel sad and frustrated that he was not honored for Academy award. Academy overlooked his achievements as he was one of the great American. He should receive posthumous academy award for his humor and help soldiers in wars.

I've been a selling writer for almost 30 years, and I've always appreciated Bob Hope's excellent humor. His material covered what was going on in the world at the time, and I consider this great comedy. Today's comedians only know how to joke around about sex. Bob could be sexy with his jokes without having to be pornographic. He could kid the Presidents and remain their friend. His movies were superb. His quick wit was outstanding. Bob, you'll be alive with me forever.

My personal memory of Mr. Hope goes back to October 1, 1981 at Walt Disney World. Mr. Hope was the Grand Parade Marshall for the Tencenial Parade and rode in an electric car in the Main Street unit of the parade. I was behind him in the parade, dancing and pushing a flower cart. He was such a great man to be around that day.
Thanks....

Sir,

I opposed the war in VietNam but never felt you were supporting the war by being there for the troops. You made it clear, over the years, what you cared about were "the kids" and you'd go anywhere the military would let you go to be with them.

You were there for my Dad in WWII, his friends in Korea, and my own contemporaries in VietNam and the Gulf War.

God Bless you and may you rest gently.
July 28, 2003

You helped to bring prospective to turbulant times and helped so many in more ways than you could ever count including my cousin Robert who was a 'chopper pilot in the Army. Give our best to Bing, Red, Jack and all the others who were there to greet you.

Yes, "thanks for the memories", Bob. You will never be forgotten!
You brought so much joy and hope to all of us over many years. Without a doubt, you were a superstar like none we have ever seen before. Our love and condolences go to your loved ones. You will be sorely missed.
July 28, 2003
I will always remember seeing Mr. Hope during my senior year as a college co-ed in Ellensburg, Washington. It was when streaking was a huge fad on campus, so there many gags surround that and we all anticipated whether someone would streak through his monologue! It was like seeing a part of my growing up years walk on stage when I saw him! How wonderful we all have such memories to bring a smile even now that he's gone physically.
July 28, 2003
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hope family today. Mr. Hope was there for my father and uncles in World War two and Korea and for my brother and cousins in Vietnam. To our family he truely was a hero. Thanks for the laughter, the love and the memories Mr. Hope, you will be dearly missed by all.
July 28, 2003
My heart goes out to the Hope family. We have all lost a part of who we are. I know now that Bob is standing in front of all those men and women we have lost in war making them feel as loved and happy as he made those of us here on earth feel. Thanks for the memories, Bob Hope. You are one in a million.
July 28, 2003
Thanks Bob.
July 28, 2003
Our Heavenly Father loaned Bob Hope
to us for 100 years. He entertained
us without without vulgarity and the
filth that today's so-called comedians try to pass off as being
funny. Our thanks and prayers go out to Deloris and family.May God fill
the void we know you must be feeling at this time.

Thanks for Saving My High School, Mr. Hope

We all have happy memories of Bob Hope. I was especially glad that the Chicago Tribune mentioned his many acts of charity, for I and many others here in Chicago were the direct beneficiaries when Mr. Hope responded to an Ad in the Wall Street Journal in 1976 asking for an Angel for St. Ignatius College Prep.

At the time, St. Ignatius was in deep financial trouble due to escalating operating costs (due to the oil embargo) and looming capital needs (the "new" wing was nearing or at 100 years old).

If this historic school was to stay open an angel would be needed. Wouldn't you know that it would be an angel with a big nose and an even bigger heart?

"Hope for Ignatius" not only kept the school from closing or moving, but attracted the attention of other generous donors. The benefit was the first of many, which over the years have helped St. Ignatius become rebuilt and reborn for the next 100 years or so.

Rather than have the memory of coming from a high school that is part of Chicago's past, Mr. Hope's generosity helped to make sure that St. Ignatius will be part of Chicago's future for a long time to come.

Thanks are also due to Mrs. Hope, who I heard then, was the one who brought the ad to her husband's attention and encouraged him to "do something".

I saw "Hope for Ignatius" from one of the last rows in the auditorium theatre. The seats there were so high that a freshman who slipped a few seats over is still falling!

Mr. Hope brought along Dyan Cannon as a treat for all the boys in the school and she was very well received. But make no mistake about it, he was the heart and soul of the show. I laugh just thinking about it.

Also present were many of Chicago's noteables. The evening was one of the last public appearances by Mayor Richard J. Daley before his death the following Monday.

If not for Mr. Hope, I might never have seen one of Chicago's most famous mayors in person.

I had a special thrill that night too. One of Mr. Hope's secrets to success was to gather inside information about any place he performed so that he could work local humour into his routines. I had the honor of being invited to join the gag-writing committee by Walter Hansen, then the school's director of Development. When Bob used student current nicknames for faculty, I had the thrill of knowing that I had supplied them to his, er, leg-man. I will not burden you with the many corny jokes and puns that I slipped in to that night's entertainment. Bob used the wurst of them, of course!

I feel obligated to mention one other story. When I was a District Executive working for the Boy Scouts, I was attending a regional training conference, where former President Gerald Ford was the speaker at the main conference dinner. He joked about Bob Hope's golf game "Bob and I went golfing last week, Bob shot a birdie, an Eagle, an Elk, a Moose and a Lion...." to huge laughs. It was the kind of joke that only comes from deep personal affection and respect.

So thanks for those memories, Bob. And especially thanks for the memory of how you got the ball rolling and helped keep St. Ignatius around for another hundred years or so. As a result, many young men and women of all races and creeds have had, and will have, a chance to come downtown to school to prepare for college at a place where all corners meet and where opportunities abound.

We'll miss you, Mr Hope. We'll miss your humor, your good nature and your kind heart.

I trust you have gone from Angel in deed to Angel in fact. Condolences and peace to all those who loved and will miss you.

Everything that is happening in this world has chosen the time; He set the time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to break down, and a time to build up a time to weep and a time to laugh; atime to mourn and a time for joy. Ecclesiastes 3:14

As I grew older I understood better, the volume of work and the talent that Bob Hope had created and nurtured. You've given the world a lifetime of laughs. It's a beautiful legacy left by a beautiful man.

July 28, 2003
I hope the wars are all over, they should be because Mr. Hope can not be there. How can any person defend a good way of life without the laughter to replace the tears. I believe in Mr. Hope's heart he felt the loneliness and pain inside the chest of every defender. The honor and love he bestowed to all the brave hearts will forever be reciprocate one thousand times over. No one can fill his shoe. No one has a foot that big. So we can not have any more wars, who would restore us, remove the loneliness and pain? Who could honor and love like he did or restore us with laughter and share his hope for peace.
July 28, 2003
God Bless you and your family..thanks for all the memories to service members as myself both past and present. All of the Armed Forces will miss you...once again thanks for the memories. Danny Vaughn

Bob Hope's tireless efforts and the personal sacrifices he made in order to visit American troops over the course of so many wars and so many years will certainly never be forgotten or equalled. In today's entertainment world, there are so many celebrities but very few stars. Mr. Hope was surely a star. He may have been born in a different country, but he is truly among America's greatest heroes. My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace.

Alas, we are Hopeless today!

We have reached the end of an era: Truly one of the last great entertainers. Bob Hope and George Burns were always my favorite comedians growing up, even though they were already in the twilight of their careers. Their lifelong romances with their respective partners is probably the reason they both lived to 100: I'll bet they're sitting around, cracking jokes with each other already. Miss ya already, Bob! What an example you were to us!

Mr. Hope will be missed greatly! He was there in WWII for my dad and in Nam for my brothers and husband. Thank you for the hope and love you gave them!
