You were so dam good at what you did god called on you to come and build his. I bet it was one heck of a burnout going through the gates. Sometimes as adults we make up things to explain to kids what something is or means a little fib, from now on those puffy white clouds will be Boyd Coddingtons burnout in the sky.

March 07, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

March 02, 2008
Although I had never met Mr. Cottington in life, perhaps I will be on his staff in the after-life building Hot-Rods. He will be dearly missed in the automotive restoration industry and most respected.

March 01, 2008

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To All:
I had the pleasure to meet Boyd a I was standing in front of the Albertson's Market (in La Habra) with my boys(I was the team mom) we were there doing a skratchers fundraiser. As he walked up to us the boys attacked him as they did all the other people and he just smiled and laughed. He asked me what we were doing and I told him we were raising money for our end of the season banquet for our 28 football players.Much to our surprise he gave the boys a nice donation that made them all start screaming, And that is something they will never forget. I asked Boyd for a business card so the boys may send him a thank you card and he said :you don't know who I am?" I paused and said "No!" he just laughed. The next day at practice the boys were telling the story about this man and what he gave to our team snd I told the other team staff and parents about it and that's when I found out That I indeed did know him..I saw him on T.V.!!All the parents were saying"you talked to Boyd Coddington??"I was speechless but proud to have met him and had the pleasure to have talked to him.I did call him a few months later to ask him if he would sponsor our NJB All Star Basketball team and again without even a delay he said yes.I told him how great I thought he was for coming through for us and he said one thing I will always cherish in my heart he said" Your Great!, It takes a special kind of person to do what you do for those boys, keep up the good work." I thanked him for that compliment and feel truly blessed to have met him and also glad that God put him in my path that one day, I know I will see him again in heaven..God Bless You Boyd..Thanks From NJB Basketball

I would like to send my best wishes to Jr. and my sorrow for his great loss. Boyd was a good man who took care of his employees and family. He also took care of the children around him. He always understood that their were others in the world. He never came first when he was needed for anything. He always went out of his was to sign a shirt or toy for anyone even if he was in a meeting all he had to know was someone was there with a request. He always treated you fairly and with respect. He will be missed. He will now be again taking care of Freddie whom he loved dearly. Boyd will never be forgotten.

Until his death a few years ago, my brother Tom Goodell expressed the pride he had for the honor of working at Boyds shop. Just to know he had a very small part in the build of so many of the fantastic cars that came out of the shop was bragging rites for him. He may have been only a parts chaser and "gofor", but said that his hand touched many parts.
We will all miss you Boyd. RIP

February 28, 2008

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

February 28, 2008

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
