May 13, 2017
I was just a baby when tragedy befell our nation, and so I never got the chance to meet you. However, I have become pretty great friends with your son, and I know you would be so proud of the man he has become. The resemblance between you two is striking, and beyond looks, Chris shares your compassion and dedication to others. He is always so busy on campus, managing and producing various projects, and his career possibilities are endless. I only wish you could be here to celebrate his successes with the rest of us. I am humbled by your sacrifice, and the friendship I have been so privileged to share with your son.

Brian was (and will always be to me) one of the best persons to ever walk on this earth. Anybody that was lucky enough to really get to know him will agree. I knew during my high school years very well, I dated one of his best friends, and even stayed friends with him long after breaking up with "Diasparo" My mother loved him and he would come exterminate my mothers house(His job then) just to talk to my mom to hear her thick Irish borough, I have a picture of him dropping by fire island during our senior cut day even though he graduated 2 years prior. He always want to be a ny fireman and the last time I ran into him at the gym years later. he was so excited he told me that he finally got into the fire department,I was so happy that he got what e he always wanted. I was friends with his wife for years when we were young we were in the same ballet class and then graduated and hung out together in HS. The were perfect for each other two of the nicest people ever. Hi Deb, and I'm so sorry for your loss, do you remember me Sheila Velsor? 1980 Walt Whitman I am now Sheila Giugliano( I married Funzy's son)

I was at the 911 Memorial last week. I noticed that Bryan's name had a white flower on it, which signified that it was the anniversary of his birthdate. I hope he had a great birthday in Heaven, and I said a prayer for his family. God Bless all of you, and thank you for your loved one's service.

While viewing the list of heroes from that tragic day I was struck by the name Lt. Brian Ahearn.
I too am an Ahearn and I couldn't help but wonder if we didn't share a common ancestor somewhere back on the Emerald Isle (or maybe even one here in America). Today I have one more reason to be proud of the name Ahearn.
Please know that the kind thoughts of Ahearns everywhere are with you and your family always.
If it is true that as long as someone remembers you, you will live forever...then Lt. Ahearn is sure to be a hero for all eternity.

Hi, My name is Clinton Garner. Iam a Lieutenant in a metro area Fire Department in Denver, Colorado. On 9-11-2008 343 Firefighters gathered in one location to remember those who passed on 9-11-2001.
We were honored to carry a picture of a Firefighter from FDNY, all 343 who were taken from all of us in the fire service and each of their families and friends. We were given these pictures and then climbed 110 stories and I was able to carry Brian with me while in full turn-out gear. I hope this will be an honor to his family and friends and those with FDNY. I have been in the fire service for 16 years and not a day goes by that I dont think, how this job affects my life and those close to me. I honor Brian as a brother in the fire service, and I hope I honored his family and friends and FDNY by carrying Brian with me on that date.
If you want to cantact me his family and friends only please. [email protected]

September 11, 2008
Thank you and God bless your widow and children. HERO seems such an inadequate word...It took me all these years to look at names of victims from Long Island-still the pain is great-can't write this with a dry eye- can't imagine how your family does it- then again, they didn't get a choice, did they? I am proud to share the same last name as you. I left New York long ago, but it will never leave me..a favorite photo of my wife is off the back of the Ellis Island ferry with the trade center in the background... God will watch over your family and I KNOW you can look down and be proud of the fantastic family you created.
September 11, 2008

May 12, 2005
To our dearest friend Brian, how we miss you! You are so much in our thoughts this week since 5/10 was Mike & I's 25th wedding anniversary. We went out and reminisced about our wedding day, you stood up for Mike as his Best Man and years later stood up for our son Ryan as his Godfather. I remembered the day Mike proposed to me, the 3 of us sitting in my Chevy Malibu in front of Mike's house and Mike said he wanted to ask me something and he wanted to say it in front of you because you were his dearest best friend and then he asked me to marry him. We laughed about the trip you and Mike took on a bus down to Washington DC after the funerals of Mikie & Steven and how Mike got on your case about wearing socks with sandals. Needless to say, you got rid of the socks but since you were always so fair-skinned you had a terrible sunburn on your feet showing the white criss-cross lines of the sandal straps! We laughed about that story the other day when Mike's folks stopped over on our anniversary day and again last night when we went out with mutual friends Mike told the same story! My son Mikie wrote a poem which he dedicated to you and has been published in a book. His poem is a few posts down from this one. Brian, I hope you know and remember, in the presence of angels where you are now, that you will always be remembered with love, respect and undying gratitude for the sacrifice you made in the name of saving lives where you lost your own. When we get together with your family it's like being with you again and remembering your life and stories of memories past. You will always remain in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers that you are in a better place looking down upon us each day saying "I was so loved" and you'd be right, because you were! Always, your friend.......
May 11, 2005
Hi Brian, We were best friends in High school along with Mike and Diane, and for many years thereafter. Everything we did we did together. Now almost 30 years later, Your friends still think about you and talk about you. You were such a big part of lives. When people were running out of the twin towers for there lives you were running in to save lives. From a small town in Huntington,Long island, New York came a man who impacted the world. Your name my friend is written in stone and carved in our hearts. My memory of you will last for the rest of my life. Your friend Bob

Here is a poem that I wrote for Brian in memory of him:

But He Can't
Dedicated To Lt. Brian Ahearn, NYC Firefighter

He wanted to be at his kids' confirmation,
But he can't.
He wanted to dance with his daughter at her sweet sixteen,
But he can't.
He wanted to see his son make a touchdown,
But he can't.
He wanted to see his kids graduate from HS,
But he can't.
He wanted to dance with his daughter at her wedding,
But he can't.
He wanted to play with his grandchildren in his backyard,
But he can't.
He wanted to grow old with his wife,
But he can't.
He didn't want to die on 9/11,
But he did.
May 10, 2005
Brian, My friend, My hero, Your name will always live on in my heart and mind. When my children ask if I ever knew a hero your name and story will be told. God bless you.

"All Gave Some, Some Gave All"
January 27, 2004
I proudly wear my 9-11 bracelet
which has Lt. Brian Ahearn's name
on it. I've often wondered how I
could find out something about this
brave and couragous person who gave
his life doing what he loved so, I
found my tag that came with the
bracelet and went to the website.
I searched until Brian's name was
found and the guest book entry page. I was grateful that I found
out just a little about this person
who was a hero. Thank God for
people like you Brian.
September 25, 2003
I just wish to say I am sorry for your loss. Ever since I was 11 I wanted to be a firefighter. And after what happened in New York it just makes me want to be a firefighter even more. I hope that someday when my dream comes true that I can be as brave as the firefighters in New your. And Lt. Brain is one of my heros. God bless you.And best wishes to you.
September 14, 2003
Brian was my cousin and I will always remember him for his kindness and the positive attitude he always showed when I was with him. He made a very sad day (my father's funeral) one of celebration; which my Dad would have loved. I will never forget Brian's special touches that day and in his own special way made the day less painful and sad. I know he and my father are together and watching over all of us; especially his beloved wife; children; parents; and sister. I will never forget him and he will alsways be in my heart.

Kelly Daniels
Cousin of Brian Ahearn
September 13, 2003
Brian was my cousin and I find it hard to believe he is not with us anymore. Brian was a person who loved life and never took it for granted. He was kind, witty and a loving person. He will always be remembered as a hero, not just because of 9/11, but because of the kind of person he was. He will always be close in our hearts.
September 11, 2003

September 11, 2003
To the family and friends of Lt. Ahearn: Tears ran down my face this morning as I drove to work, listening to the memorials for the victims of September 11, 2001. The pain seemed so fresh and deep in my heart. When the radio went still in a moment of silence I looked at my wrist as the familiar September sun reflected on my bracelet that bears the name of your loved one, Lt. Brian G. Ahearn. I remember too. God bless you all.
September 11, 2003
Dear Family of Lt.Ahearn,
I am Supervisor with the Emergency Dispatch Center in the City of Chesapeake, Va. We are the ones who dispatch Police, Fire and Rescue to calls for service. I cannot imagine, in the worse case scenario, the communications centers in your area during September 11, 2001. I cannot imagine not knowing where each Firefighter, Lt., Capt. or Battalion Chief was. I cannot imagine not being able to get help to them. Mostly though, I cannot imagine the pain you all felt when Lt. Ahearn didn't come home. What courage you must have had..What courage he had. I am proud of what I do but, even more proud of the women and men on the front lines. Lt.Ahearn and all the many others will never be forgotten. God bless you all.

Lt.Brian Ahearn was my uncle. (That is the most proud sentence I can say) My Uncle Brian was a great person. I never heard him raise his voice. He never cursed in front of me, and was so polite. I remember the whole family calling missing person hot lines at the bottom of the TV screen all night. I remember waking up with nightmares, then turning on the TV and realizing what NYC now looked like. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about my Uncle Brian or Aunt Debbie Lauren or Chris. I love you all and adore Lauren and Chris. I thank all the men from ladder 42 and all the men from engine 230 I don't know all the men that well, but I do know how good you are and all you have done for my family. Thank you NYPD, NYFD, all EMS workers you are all my true American Hero's!
With love Kristie 15

To Brian Ahearn's Family,
I am writting because the name seemed to jump out at me....Ahearn is the maiden name of my Mother,,and in the months since 9/11 a family connection has come over me. The name of Ahearn is not common...
When I saw the name in the list of those lost, I had a sense of loss,,,that possibly Brian is family that we will never know....
My sincere gratitude goes to Brian's family,,,,from reading other memorials he seems to be a very special person. Would love to hear from any Ahearn's. Trish Reilly, [email protected]

May Brian's courage, life and love live on in all who love him and in those who have been touched by his life. May you always feel the warmth of his love radiate into your hearts. May the sorrow you feel be lightened by memories of times together. Our hearts cry with you in America's loss of a hero.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

Dear Brian,
I never met you or your family, but I want to express my sympathy to you, your loved ones, and fellow comrades. I truly believe everyone who perished on September 11, became and Angel. I also believe Angels live in Heaven and get a bright shining star. As I look at the stars at night I wonder if I am looking at your star or one of the other Angels who went to Heaven on September 11. God Bless you and may your loved ones find your star and know you are looking down on them. Peace, I pray for this holiday season. I pray that sunshine filters through the dark clouds that has signified the grief and sorrow your loves ones have felt. I am so sorry for their loss.
