I'll lend you for a little while, a child of mine, God said.
For you to love while she lives and mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or forty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you and should her stay be brief,
You'll always have her memories as a solace in your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this child to learn.
I've looked this whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the folks that crowd Life's Lane I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love and not think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take this lent child back again?
I fancy that I heard you say “Dear God, thy will be done.
For all the joys this child will bring the risk of grief we'll run.
We will shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may
And for all the happiness we've ever known, we'll ever grateful stay.
But should the angels call her much sooner than we'd planned
We will brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand."

Sgt Steedley,

It's has really been a pleasure worki g with you in CSSG-3....I remember when I would have to do HST's on the flight line and believe you me I hated them but you always made it fun, because we would sit there and talk about anything in the world and you were cool about it. I was a little nervous because I would always think that you'll yell at me for not doing my job and just talking..lol. Thank you for everything. You led by example by being an honest respect women, mother, wife, friend, leader, and Marine...you guard those gates. See you on the other side. Semper Fi.

Wow, I cannot believe this is really true. I remember when you got to Afghanistan and was my roommate for a while before I left. You were always talking about your children and husband and how blessed you were; how much love you had for your family. You are truly my hero Sgt Steedley. I will never forget the late night talks, or after work conversations, the facials with SSgt Black (lol) and the morning coffee! May God be with you and your family. Your spirit will forever live on and you will never be forgotten. God Bless you and your family.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Camella M. Steedley, USMC our Sister in Arms. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Camella. And to Camella it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and for her many years of dedicated and faithful service while a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. No greater love and patriotism is shown than a woman lay down her life in service to her country. Camella, you are a loyal Marine Warrior and a true Patriot. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace. Semper Fi!

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Camella's family and loved ones.

In just minutes--Life had changed for you
Not knowing what lies ahead you fear what's to be
In just minutes----You were stricken with unexpected sorrow
In just minutes-- You must now move forward to tomorrow
In just minutes -It's sudenly all in God's Hands
In just minutes--She has moved to the Promised Land
In just minutes-- There was no time for your last goodbye's
In just minutes--- The tears flowed coldly from your eyes
In just minutes The Lord wisked her out of your sight
As He Softly Said
"COME WALK WITH ME DAUGHTER "
and bask in the warmth of my Heavenly light
Blessings and peace from God our Father and His Son Jesus Christ

Memories

Memories Keep Those We Love
Close to Us Forever

Although words seem to say so little,
I hope they help in some small way
to ease the sense of loss
that you're experiencing today.

Hold fast to your memories,
to all of the cherished moments of the past,
to the blessings and the laughter,
the joys and the celebrations,
the sorrow and the tears.
They all add up to a treasure
of fond yesterdays
that you shared and spent together,
and they keep the one you loved
close to you in spirit and thought.

The special moments
and memories in your life
will never change.
They will always be in your heart,
today and forever more.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Camella will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.
