Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Heinlein Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

Re: PFC Charles Thomas Heinlein

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,700 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

To the Heinlein family,
It's hard to believe that your hero has been gone a year today. There isn't a day goes by that we don't think of you and your loss. We will continue to pray for you.
Our son, Adam, was with Charles in the attack, and is still suffering with his injury, but we are thankful we still have him.
Thank you for your sacrifice for our freedom.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Charles, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Words can't describe the pain I feel from your loss and my heart goes out to your family. It hurts to remember you but I don't ever want to forget. When I met you, you made such an impact in my life. It was clear you were set in your own ways and liked to make a debate out of any issue I brought up just to get a rise out of me. You were challenging but loving. Always thinking about others before yourself. I'm going to be visiting you at Arlington in a couple days and plan to come back whenever I am able. I hope its true what they say about time healing all wounds. I love you Charlie and I'll never forget you.

I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the Heinlein family. There is nothing anyone can really say to take away the pain of your loss of Charlie. He is the reason Americans enjoy the freedoms we have. Charlie sacrificed his safety and comfort to do a job we can only imagine. I truly know your pain as I lost my son July 5th,2007 in Afghanistan. God Bless Your Family, Glenn Miracle, father of Pfc Joseph Miracle.

The nation mourns with each fallen soldier, yet the mission is not complete. We as a nation continue to mourn the losses, and we continue to pray for those in harms way.

To the family of Pvt. Charles T.Heinlein

I am so sorry for your loss.
August 16, 2007
To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Tom, Donna, Jodie, I am so sorry for your tragedy. Charlie was a special person, so cute, outgoing, but brave too. I grieve with you, althougth I dont pretend to know the depth of your loss. There is no sorrow that God cannot heal, and I pray that you reach out to Him during your trial. Charlie will be remembered for giving his life for his country.

Jessica, I'm so sorry for what you and your family are going through. Your husband was a very brave man and loyal to his country. And for that he has my everlasting respect, although I didn't personally know him. My prayers will be with you and your family, at this time of great loss. May God bless all of you at this great loss and tragedy.

To the family of Charles T. Heinlein Jr.:

After reading the entries in this guest book, it is obvious your son, husband, brother is a brave and honorable hero. Many people are touched by this one lone soldier, and his ultimate sacrifice to keep this nation free. Now you join the Gold Star Mothers, of which I am a member. My prayers are with you as you grieve.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Judy Miracle
in honor of Pvt. Joseph A. Miracle - killed on July 5th, 2007 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.

May our Angel sons carry us through the coming days.
August 11, 2007
I am so very sorry that your family is going through this great loss. I will not pretend that I have any words to console you in this time, but I want to take this moment to say thank you. It is because of brave young men like Charles that we have these freedoms that so many take for granted.

For your bravery, I will always respect you.
For your heroism, I will always honor you.
For your selflessness, I will always love you.
For your dedication, I will always remember you.
For my safety, I will always thank you.
For your sacrifice, I can never repay you.

I wrote this for my brother, Sgt. Justin Wisniewski, whom I lost on May 19, 2007. My heart is still an open wound and it will take more time to heal than any physical wound ever would. Because like you, I not only lost a loved one, a hero, but I lost hopes and dreams, memories that were waiting to be made. I lost the chance to make up for lost time, to make up for the almost three years my brother was in the service.

But what helps me to get through each day is knowing that when it is finally my turn to go home, I will be reunited with Justin and we will have eternity to do all of those things we missed here on earth, and that will be time that nothing, not even death, can take away.

I am forever sorry for the loss of this brave young man, as well as for all of the soldiers who have taken this country's protection upon themselves, and who have given everything for that cause. If Charles is anything like Justin, he had a spirit and a determination that will never die. God bless you and I will keep you in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy to Charlie's family & friends. He is truly a HERO!! I did not know Charlie personally, but my daughter & son (Gretchen & Jordan Bethke)attended HHS with him. Jordan completed Basic Training at Ft. Sill in OK and will complete AIT Aug. 16. After a short visit home he will report to Ft. Lewis, WA. I give all these young men a lot of respect for laying their lives on the line for our freedom. No one forced them to go fight for our freedom-it is their own personal choice and their deep love for this country that takes them on this path. GOD BLESS EVERYONE OF THEM!! I attended Charlie's Memorial at the Hemlock VFW and it was a very special & touching tribute to this "Hometown Hero".
God Bless Our Troops as We Support Them!!

What a gallant young man. What a dear Soldier. How precious he is in reverie. For his family and fellow soldiers, the profound pain of this loss is mitigated by the sure knowledge that Charles T. Heinlein gave his country and the rest of us, a gift we do not understand yet. I want to tell his family how grateful I am for Charles T. Heinlein. Duty. Honor. Country. Thank you.

I met your son at my $ store when I first opened in Hemlock in 2000. My first impression was this kid is a ham, and my second was that he would go far and do great things! I guess I right on both accounts. Although I moved the store to St. Charles in 2005 and lost touch with a lot of folks from Hemlock, I recognized him right away when the news showed his photo. My heart breaks for all of you. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. He was quite a guy. One of the good guys! May God bless and keep you all. Godspeed Charlie.

Oh Great Spirit

Whose voice I hear in the Winds
And breath gives life to all the World,
Hear Me!
I come before You, one of Your Children.
I am small and weak.
I need Your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold
The red and purple sunsets.
Make my hands respect the things that you have made,
My ears sharp to hear Your voice.
Make me wise, so that I may know the things You have taught my People.
The lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers,
But to be able to fight my greatest enemy,
Myself.
Make me ever ready to come to You
With clean hands and straight eyes,
So when my life fades as a fading sunset,
My spirit may come to you without shame.

There is no Death…
Only a change of worlds…
Only a change of Worlds.

Creator,
Embrace this young man, for he has made us all proud, and he walked with Honor...

I have known Charlie as long as I can remember. He always seemed to do things his own way but I can't remember him ever giving up. I think that many people didn't understand this and they gave him a hard time. He never let it get to him. I can't remember him saying anything mean or fighting back. He took anything that was thrown at himself and used it to become a strong person. I am proud of all he accomplished, and Charlie and his "family" will remain in my thoughts.

Pfc. Charles Heinlein and Family:

Know in your heart that you are a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.

To the family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

"Surely He hath borne our grief,
and carried our sorrows."
~ Isaiah 53:4 ~

May you find comfort and strength, in the beautiful memories of times spent with Charles and quietly and gently, may healing come, with each new day.

I remember all the times that Charlie visited in our home. He never came or went without giving me a hug and a kiss. He called me "mom" and that was fine with me. There was something about him that just touched my heart.

Charlie was truly a multi-facted personality. He could try the patience of a saint with his love of arguing "just for the sake of arguing" and then make you laugh with his quick wit and ready smile.

I will always remember the way that Charlie used to come up behind me in the grocery store (or wherever he would see me) when I didn't know that he was there and give me a hug and a kiss. He would laugh because he surprised me. But it got so that I wasn't even startled and would just know that it was him.

When he told me that he was going to join the Army, I tried to talk him out of his decision. I wanted to make sure that he had really thought hard about the path that he was choosing. For every reason or argument that I came up with to try to dissuade him, he had a counter reason or argument. Ultimately he convinced me that he had made his decision with his eyes open and was determined to go forward no matter what.

Charlie had determination and the courage of his convictions. He was not easily shaken in his beliefs. I'm proud of him for that.

I will miss him and always remember him with love.
