I met Charlie in the late 80's as a Realtor in Ca- a cold call in my Glendale office! What a treat- I'll never forget- he was "on" 95% of the 3 days I toured him around- I think he was anticipating a series with Lucille Ball- & the RE market was going down- I said "rent not buy" it was a privilege & an honor to have been entertained by him for 3 straight days- he was also a very kind, gracious man. I've read all these entries and its heartwarming to know how many lives he impacted in the most joyous way. I'm so sorry he is no longer with you, but you will see him again. Kindest regards to his family,
My sympathies to the Callas families. Mr. Callas was a brilliant and talented man. He is now a brand new star in the sky forever more.
Sincerely, Tina Freda, a Fan.
A bright, lovable, irreplaceable candle has been extinguished.
Just seeing his picture brings back so many hilarious memories. One of my favorites was Charlie in a knit cap doing his impression of Jacques Cousteau. Tears of sadness and joy.

To the Callas family, A truely wonderful entertainer and a lovely man. I met your mom and dad while he was a member if the U.S.I.M.L.T. We shot in Canada together and while practicing for that competition we had the pleasure of meeting your mom also. What a lovely lady. Trying so hard to compile a list of assets from your dads small scrap pieces of papers she had in a brown grocery bag. That was a great day at the Roxbury range. I am saddened to hear of her passing also. May the wonderful memories you have of both of them help lighten your hearts burden during this difficult time.
B and B Peloquin, Florida
Charlie will be sorely missed. I only met him once, years ago while he worked the Top Hat Supper Club in Windsor, but have fondly remembered him since. He made a stressed out waitress relax and laugh.
I remember the humor. May your memories and the strength from God sustain you at this sad time.
I remember seeing Chuck way back when he was just getting into the show biz game. He first started with a cowboy persona, like the late, great Will Rogers. He would stand on a bare stage and work a lariat, just like old Will. He told stories of cattle work in Brooklyn and Patterson, New Jersey, about the time they had a big hurracane over there. Not too funny, so he made a switch to the kind of work we all remember him for today.
Great funny man, sure to be missed.
RIP great funny guy.
The Flower Sisters

I am sorry for your loss. Your father was a great comedian. Most of us fans have now turned 60 or more in age. Your father always delivered comedy routines that were never vulgar as comedians of today. Your father was a gift during difficult times in our countries history, such as the Vietnam war, President Richard Nixon' s fall from the highest position of the world and I could go on and on.
Mark and family;

I just emailed this news to my 40+ daughter. She has often been told that this was her first great comedic love. She would stand up in her playpen while watching Charlie perform. It really warmed my heart to hear her giggle & laugh out loud at his facial expressions & inflection in his voice. (Charlie sort of "babysat" my baby while I was preparing dinner.)That is not to say that I wasn't listening as well!
I consider him part of our family, not unlike a distant uncle. The memories of his schtick are the best!
To Charlie's family, you must be so proud of the good he did in his life. Laughter IS the best medicine for us all!
I met Charlie when he opened for Frank Sinatra at the Valley Forge Music Fair and had the privilege of spending time with him after the show at one of Jilly's birthday parties. Not only was he a brilliant comic, but he was also a kind, gentle man. He was not full of himself like so many celebrities, but rather was a humble man and as down to earth as anyone could imagine. He spoke of his family and had your pictures in his wallet, he just glowed when he talked about family. It spoke volumes for his goodness. You were such a happy family, it brought a closeness to a sweet man. I hope that the warmth of your memories will help to fill the void. My very deepest sympathy at the loss of your parents. Thank you for sharing with the world.
I enjoyed the comedy of Mr Callas over the years............he will be missed. God Bless!
You WILL be missed! Thanks so much for all the laughter! RIIP.
Bye Charlie, you could make me laugh without saying a word. My condolences to your sons.
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
We have lost the greatest "laugh-therapy" comic ever. I remember watching Charlie on Carson, and various other shows and wishing I could make the terrific faces he was doing to make others laugh. I would try to catch any TV show he was on just because it felt so good to witness his comedic talent. He will be sorely missed. May you find solace in his entertaining the Good Lord in heaven.
So very sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Father (& Mother) A true Comic & a Gentleman..Of all the times I've watched & have been entertained by Charlie, he never had to resort to using foul language or cursing..only pure hearted Comedians could do that..there are so few real entertainers left down here on earth, I can't wait to get up there with all the good guys (&gals)that will truly be Heaven..Boys, your parents loved you-make 'em proud...
I loved to watch him he was so funny. He was my mothers favorite comic .May God Bless him and his family.
I would often see Mr. Callas dining out at restaurants in Ft. Lee in the early '80s. He was a gracious and charming fellow.
I saw him imitate a fly on a table and it was so good, it was hysterical!!
Rest in peace, sweet soul...
I remember Charlie Callas in the Mel Brooks movie "The Silent Movie". It was hysterical and it actually was a silent movie. He was a very funny man and his facial expressions were priceless. He will be missed but not forgotten...Andra (Farmville, VA)

My prayers go out to his family.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Charlie Callas for their loss. I grew up watching him on all the shows mentioned in the obituary. It is so sad to continue to lose all the great real comedians that did not have to rely on vulagarity, demeaning, cussing, or sexual monologue to make people laugh. I miss the days of good clean comedy. It is also nice to know that he was one of the few stars to stay married to the same woman for so many years, what a love story. For those of us that were priveleged to get to see his performances in the early years, we are truly thankful. My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of Charlie Callas. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with the rest of us.
Another naturally talented original from that great era has passed. We will never see anything like all of them again. So sad. Fort Lee is a bit dimmer with your Dad's passing. Center Avenue is darker. As someone has already said, one can never forget your Dad entertaining the pedestrians on Lemoine Avenue. His smile and warmth would light up the area. Take comfort in knowing that so many will remember your Dad not just for his celebrity and talent but for the warmth that he showed to all.

So sorry about Charlie> He was on of the Best. Wish Carson wouldn't have banned him, but in retrospect, I don't think there's nuch difference between Carson and that Jay Leno. They don;t make them like Charlie anymore and never will.
Our prayers to you.
Charlie was a great comedian...He paved the way for people like Jim Carey. With his facial comedy....Sorry to see you go. Jeff A FAN!!
We have the pleasure of once again watching your Dad on DVD doing the roasts with Dean Martin. I laugh 'til I cry. God Bless Him-Heaven will be laughing.

To the Callas Family: We always enjoyed your Father's comic genius and his acting on our favorite show Switch. Believe he is now reunited with your Mother. May you have peace at this sorrowful time. Jane & Bill, Austerlitz, NY
Charlie Callas was a throwback to old school comedy, complete with slapstick. He was genuine. His passing is just another reminder that the golden age of entertainment is long gone. RIP and thanks for making me laugh!
Walking along Lemoine Avenue and running into Charlie Callas was always a trip, he always took time to entertain us a bit. I have never forgotton him in his trench coat and wide brim hat, standing out more than not! Rest In Peace, thanks for sharing the best with the rest.
Larry & Mark,
I just found out about your dad today. My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I knew your dad when he and your lovely mom (only learned today of her passing back in July as well and I'm so sorry) lived in Fort Lee, NJ in the same building as my family and me when I was a kid. He always made me laugh and smile every time I ran into him or rode up in the elevator. He was a brilliant comedian, truly the funniest guy to his core and he and your mom were two of the nicest people, totally down to earth and real. I will remember all the laughs, they don't make 'em like Charlie anymore. He will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear of your loss..may the god of all comfort be with the family during this difficult time. (2 Cor 1:3)
Mark & Larry, sorry about the loss of your dad. He made many people very happy just at the sight of him. Remember him in the good times and he'll always be around. My prayers are with you and your families. Lynda Maggio

I am sorry to hear that your father passed. I remember when we went to school how funny he was.
There was never a telethon Jerry Lewis missed in getting the valuable Charlie to appear. No one today can take his place. Charlie's brand of humor was unique. Not even a major stroke could have caused it negative impairment.
.Charlie Callas was such a funny man. I remember seeing him on the earlier shows such as Sullivan, Gleason etc. I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants, he truly was a happy and funny guy. Prayers will go out to the family.
I remember him best from the "Dean Martin Roast" comedy hour. I'm sure he is making people laugh on the other side. He has also been reunited with the wonderful people who made him laugh too. The best to the family and friends of Charlie.

There will never be another comic like Charlie. True original. One of my all time favorites. There are no comedians out there today that made you laugh so hard without being dirty. Prayers will go out to his family.

I remember Mr. Callas very well and I really enjoyed his humor and the facial expressions at times were as much if not more humorous than anything he said or did. I always feel so bad when we lose someone who entertained us so much and that I grew up watching. It is such a loss and I truly am sorry for the family he leaves behind, I hope you find Peace and comfort in your time of sorrow, My Prayers are with you all.
Loved this guy what a sense of humor,he ought to have them rolling in the aisles in heaven.R.I.P. Charlie
There were always tears. Whenever I was blessed to see him perform. Tears of uncontrolled laughter at the joy and appreciation of his zany humor. And there are tears now, as I write. Tears for the memory; tears of his passing. And through all of the tears; in the beginning, the middle, and the end . . . I smile broadly, with a warm feeling for the memory. Alleva-sholem, Charlie.
Charlie Callas was one of the funniest men to ever appear on tv. I am 58 and he gave me many hours of laughter as I was growing up. I will always cherish those times and miss him!!!
His humor was made for family viewing when so many were not!!!!
The best comic is always a natural comic, and Mr. Callas was one of the absolute best for many of us over many years. The laughter has turned to tears today in honor of a great man that gave so much to make this world a happier place even for just a little while. Thoughts and prayers for the Callas family, but what great memories he has given us during this time on Earth. We mourn the loss of this wonderful man, but he is one happy man to be reunited with his loving wife. God Bless.
God bless him and his family
I am so sad to learn of Mr. Callas' passing; he always made me laugh until my jaws were hurting. He made a lot of people happy. I am so sorry for you loss.
RIP you brought many smiles to our faces over the years Thank You. You'll never be forgotten
The public has lost another original comic of the golden age of television. Anyone who could make Johnny Carson roar was OK in my book.
Charlie brought smiles and laughter to countless audiences. Thank you, Mr. Callas. Rest well and peace to your soul.
Thank you for your gifts that you so generously shared with the masses. Just looking at his picture reminds me of how MUCH he used to crack us up. Clean, funny comedy! Thanks to the family for sharing him with us! He was adorable!!! No doubt busting them up in heaven!!!
I thank God for people like this man , who brings joy and laughter to this life. God bless.
This man always made me laugh, I hate to lose anyone that makes you smile.
Your Dad was a pleasure to watch on TV. I know he is making them laugh up in heaven too.
He made me laugh until I cried....I cry for him today....RIP
Charlie was one of the best humorists I have ever witnessed. He was one of the unique strategists at his practice of entertaining the viewer and his immediate surroundings of fellow actors and actresses. He was a family man and a man of unique character second to none.
He will be missed by all who knew him and especially by those closest.
Charlie, you made the honor roll, good luck in your travels.
May God bless the Callas Family, and God Bless Charlie Callas.
