Laura and Brian, Just a note to let you know, that I think of you all the time! I want you to know that Dain's passing will not be a fleeting moment in my life! I think of Him, and pray for him often. I wish I could help ease your pain, but I realize, the sorrow that you are still feeling, is only outweighed by how much you loved and miss him! There is no cure for this feeling. They say time heals all, but as you and I both know, that's not true! I just want both of you to know that Dain is not and will not be forgotten by myself, and I'm sure many others that have not written down their feelings! I see from time to time, Brie, John, Uncle John, Uncle Chris, Aunt Marina, Grampa Jack and Gramma Mary and they all still have a look in their eyes, that gives away the hurt they still, and will continue to feel. Who knows why you were chosen to bear this horrible burden? A "burden", that only God, and other families, that have suffered a similar fate, know the true feeling of. Know that I continue to pray for "All" of you! If I, or my family can do anything for you, please don't hesitate to ask! We love you folks, and don't know how else to help you, except Pray for you, and let you know, we are thinking of you, and you are not alone in your fight against this constant sorrow! God Bless all of you! Tim

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also to let the Venne Family know that we recently sent a donation to the members of the Pennsylvania and Massachusetts National Guard who responded during Hurricane SANDY here in NY City in the name of Dain T. Venne US Army Staff Sergeant. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Sincerely,

There are no words to heal this pain, take away this loss or answer all the questions. Keep your faith strong and take each day one at a time. That is all you can do. We lost our father 3 months ago and we are still learning how to cope. Cherish the family you have with you and keep your brothers memory alive. When Claudio told me this I felt the need to express my condolences. I did not know your brother but want to thank him for defending our country and making the ultimate sacrifice. He is the definition of a hero. Bless you and your family Lucas.

It is truly rare to find a person that was liked by everyone. That was Dain. He respected everyone for who they were and they respected him. A genuinely wonderful person. I'll never forget the time I babysat and Dain ran away on his bike to get candy at Jimmy's newsroom!
I am grateful that I had the pleasure of knowing Dain. While the world lost a soldier and a hero, heaven gained an angel. Deepest sympathies to family and friends.

You are one of the few good men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Growing up with you it didnt matter if u were a "jock" "new kid" "outcast" etc you were always nice caring and respectful. You made such an impact on everyone's life and it was always for the better. You've accomplished in your short life what most will never. You are the definition of a HERO. For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I Salute You.

This Great, Great loss that you have suffered, will never leave your hearts the rest of your lives. Dain was a product of all of you! I can see a little bit of every one of you in him! The one thing that outweighs the grief you are feeling right now, is the amount of Pride you must be feeling inside all of you! Dain was an extraordinary, loving, fun filled person, who lived life to the fullest. Dain was Dain, and that's why he did what he did! You can beleive this, he did not die for no reason at all! Whatever the reason, and we may never know why, he died for something he stood for! Whether to save lives, or to inspire lives, he seemed to have the right recipe to be a leader and a Hero all rolled into one! He beleived in what he was doing, and what he was doing it for! No doubt, that was his love for all of us! Please don't be sad, he would not want you to be! Celebrate his life, and know that God has Him doing a task for Him right now! When someone dies,a cloud turns into an angel, and flies up to tell God to put another flower on the pillow. A bird gives the message back to the world , and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry.Peoploe dissapear, but they never really go away. The spirits up there put the sun to bed, wake up the grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles. Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the daytime, when they are supposed to be sleeping. They painjt the rainbows and also the sunsets and make waves splash and tug at the tide. They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes. And when they sing windsongs, they whisper to us,don,t miss me too much the view is nice and I,m doing fine.

Dain,
I grew up following you, Jimmy, and Brian around and though I was young I can still remember those days like it was yesterday. You three were a little crazy looking back on it all, but you always made me smile and included me no matter how bad you didn't want a little tag along. The best memories were playing waffle ball in your backyard and going down the hill with jumps twice as high as me! Thank you for everything you did for me, your community, and your country. You will always hold a special place in my heart and will always be missed!

November 09, 2012
Dain - There are simply no words to express the immense impact you've had on my life and all those around you. I look back on all my memories of you fondly and will cherish them now and always. I feel so blessed to have gotten a chance recently to reconnect, even though it was only for a short while.
To family and friends - I heard a quote the other night that stuck with me: "We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will". While all of us will agree Dain's life ended much too soon, he definitely created a legacy that will be remembered now and always. Thank you for your sacrifice for our freedoms, Dain.
November 09, 2012
Dain was as fine a person as I ever met in thirty years of teaching, and twenty years in the active and reserve Air Force and Army.
He had the most difficult and dangerous job in the military, finding and disarming IEDs. It would take more courage and skill than most of us had to do this once, never mind day after day, tour after tour. He must have been very good at it, as a soldier and as a leader, he was at everything I ever saw him attempt at MCS. Without doubt, he saved dozens, perhaps hundreds of American and Afghani lives. In his short life, he did more good than most of us will ever do in much longer ones. Not the least as an example of what courage, skill, decency, and honor can accomplish.
November 09, 2012
Dain,
I knew you before you were a solider. When you were just a kid playing football on your front lawn, the football player who made friday nights exciting and the prom king who stood beside me at crowning. You were my childhood and I will never forget you or the memories we had. Thank you for standing up for our country so that my daughter can grow up in moriah the way we did free to be just kids.
Love,Tiffany

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SSG Dain T. Venne U.S. Army. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Dain. And to Dain it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. Dain you gave the last full measure of devotion for what you believed in and fought for. No greater love and patriotism are shown than when a man lays down his life in service to his country. Dain, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Dain's family and loved ones.
