To the family of Dennis Weaver: I have admired Dennis' work on Gunsmoke for many years. I am retired and look forward to seeing him on the re-runs every night. He always brightens my mood, and I think he was a brilliant actor. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. God bless you. If you'd like to write back, I'd be thrilled to hear from you. From Gwen Boltson

Thank you for your service to this nation.
i loved the man denis weaver. i always knew he was a genuine person. a man you could trust. he stood high amongst the very best and was a true human being
God bless your soul and keep you safe and happy in his heaven.
Dennis Weaver was my childhood mentor in the 1960's and he made it his business to
catch the bad guy. It didn't matter how difficult it was McCloud did his job. It's too bad shows like this aren't the standard anymore, God Bless Dennis Weaver!
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
He was great in the Steven Spielberg film called Duel.
I am looking for a movie starring Dennis Weaver. He was a boy that could not read in school and gave millions of excuses to stay home from school. He found a reason to stay in school ( a girl he met that knew his disability ). He became a good jock,so teachers passed him to the next grade every year. He could not read ! Later in life he became a plant manager and color coded things. The plant was introduced to computers, lost his job. Faked his way through life with lots of excuses until one day, not being able to read caught up with him. Need the name of the movie that came on TV either in the 70's or 80's for a class assignment. firstname.lastname@example.org
My Grandmother's favorite show was Gunsmoke. Our whole family enjoyed watching you. We also enjoyed your country music shows.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Weaver. See You On That Beautiful Day, Kind Sir.
Loved your acting for many years . R.I.P.

dENNIS'S FAMILY, MAY PEACE STILL WALK WITH EACH OF YOU. DENNIS GAVE SO MUCH AS "CHESTER'. MATT, MS. KITTY AND DOC WERE ALL BETTER AND MORE PRODUCTIVE BECAUSE OF "CHESTER'. VIEWING THE RE-RUNS WITH A MORE ATTENTIVE ATTITUDE. WE ALL ARE BETTER BECAUSE OF "CHESTER" JERRY WAYNE ARRINGTON MAGNOLIA, AR.
sorry to hear about the passing of dennis weaver i actually became a truck driver in 2001 because of the duel gods speed
I'm from the generation after Dennis was gone, but I've seen both "Gunsmoke" and "McCloud" and I love them both. They are two of my favorite series, and I love them mostly because of Dennis Weaver.
I loved Gunsmoke and even more so Mcloud! All three actors were Fab together. Too many good ones have passed on cause of Cancer , including my 48 year old, only sister. We need to find a cure! He really played his roles well Regards Deb Best Belleville, On. Canada
too the weaver family & friends i know it's hard too lose the grandest man ever who ever walk this earth i am deeply sorry. my preayers gose out too you all.
Too Gerry & his Sons hole Family. I like too say I'm sorry he's gone I will miss him she made me smile from ear too ear all my Preays too his Famiky & Friends.
I hope that fans of Dennis' "McCloud" series will be happy to know that it is finally being released on DVD in the form that it deserves by "Madman" in Australia. They even took the trouble to find the ORIGINAL form of season one! At last someone is taking the trouble to get this terrific series right!
In the early days of my marriage, I was a pastor in Ft Myers, Fl and after church we would go over to a friends house and watch the Sunday nbc mystery movie. Mccloud with Dennis in it was one of my all time favorite tv shows. He had a tv presence like few others and is greatly missed. I plan to, hopefully, get the Mccloud tv series on DVD for my 60th this Oct. They don't have tv nor actors like Dennis anymore!
My condolences to the Weaver family. Mr. Weaver talent was very appreciated by our family. My father was a great fan of the Gun Smoke show.
May these word bring you comfort each day, God is for us a refuge and strength, and help that is readily to be found during distresses.
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I enjoyed your chacter on Gunsmoke. Sayinh "Mr. Dillion". The respect for "Miss Kitty" You were a fighter Pilot during the war. You served your country well. As one veteran to another, i salute you
I DID NOT KNOW THIS. HE WAS GREAT ON GUNSMOKE
Dennis, I will always remember you in film and in person.
My wife and I recently visited Taos after many years of "going to do it" simply because we relate the town to Dennis Weaver and the McLeod series which we always watch when shown. Always came across as entertaining, warm and sincere. Sorry to learn of his passing.
I will never forget Mr Weaver when called Mr. Dillon! Mr Dillon! but he was more then just a actor he had a good heart and was concerned about our good planet Earth...he lived the right way....I will miss him and his volume of good work....
And he went riding off into the sunset.......God Bless You Mr. Weaver! I thought you were AWESOME
Cane to think of you today. My first hero. Riding through the streets of NY in a sheepskin jacket, the most man-like being I knew, except my dad.
From his biggest fan--the world isn't the same without him. Much, much too soon.
Remembered watching Mr. Weaver as a small child on Gunsmoke with my father. My maiden name was also Weaver. Our prayers and sympathy are with Mr. Weaver's family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I have been a big fan of his for many years. Go in peace, you will be greatly missed.
Mark Geuy of Murrieta - Dennis Weaver was a great actor and he filled the shoes quite nicely when he took over John Waynes role in the Great Western commercials.
Rest in Peace
You were a great actor and I was a fan of your McCloud series.
You will be missed.
Will always remember the episode where he had to jump into an oldtimer car which actually was one of my neighbors cars that time.
Another oldie but goodie gone but not forgotten!!
My deepest condolence to the family of Dennis Weaver who was my favourite actor. I loved his acting in Mc'Cloud and would not miss him coz he lives on in his movies and could not be forgotten. God bless his soul and I believe he would return in another body soon.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
Dennis You are a legend in movies you will be missed dearly
For most of my 56 years, well since I was about 30 anyway, I have often been thought to look just like Dennis Weaver. That has made him particularly special to me, even though I never had an opportunity to meet him. He was always providing his viewers with a warmth and honest approach to life and the world will be the lesser for his passing, but the richer for his positive contribution to our otherwise troubled world.
Our prayers goes out to the family of Dennis Weaver, sorry to hear of his passing,he will be surely missed and never forgotten.
You will be missed a Million Times over my friend. I Love you and looking forward to seeing you in The Round Up Heaven.
I already Miss You
To the family of the Great Dennis Weaver, what a gentle man, and so well resepected by all who ever watched him on Gun Smoke of any of the other show's he played in. he will truley be missed, and I pray God will hold him in his arms, and take good care of him, always. till we all meet again someday.
may God bless his family, and friends.
To the Family of Dennis Weaver: I was so sorry to hear of his passing. I remember Sunday nights as a kid watching Gentle Ben, and then a few years later, the McCloud series. However, my favorite of his was Duel. What a great performance! Every time that movie is on tv, I always stop to watch. Another movie I remember is The Forgotten Man(hope I have the title correct), about the Vietnam vet. He was a great actor, who will really be missed.
Many thanks to Dennis for his inspiring presence at the SRF Lake Shrine. I had the great pleasure of attending many of his talks and I will always remember this gentle soul. Love and blessings to Gerry and the Weaver family.
Mr. Weaver will be missed. I especially enjoyed the movie Duel.
To the family of Dennis Weaver, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember watching Dennis as Chester on Gunsmoke many, many years ago. The show was never the same to me after he left. I enjoyed him in McCloud also. May you rest in peace.

God bless you the family of this truly good man. May you find peace and comfort in the fact he is in Gods house now, thaking good care of it like he tryed to do for this earth. I truly enjoyed watching him on screen he put his heart in what he was doing. GOD BLESS
I grew up watching Dennis and always thought that he was a gifted actor. Mostly though, he was a wonderfully dedicated person trying to make people understand what it is we need to do to save this earth. We definately need more people like him to make a difference.
We shall truly miss him!
I was watching an episode of McCloud last evening, and at the end of it someone voiced over that it was shown in tribute of Dennis Weaver who had died the last week.
I was so sad as I had grown up watching Gunsmoke (if I was allowed to stay up!) and I loved McCloud when it was shown in the 70s. I do remember Gentle Ben (although I had forgotten until i read it in the obituary). It is so sad to lose people you have grown up to love as the charactors they play. He seemed to be a lovely man and reading about him in the obituary we could all think and care more for others and our planet.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I feel particularly for his children as my Mum died just 3 months ago at the age of 83 and it is so hard to suddenly be the oldest generation with no way to ask their advice, opinions etc. as I would have been able to.
Dennis Weaver was a handsome gentleman with a great screen presence ... especially in any western-type shows. Dennis will be missed but never forgotten.
MY YOU ALWAYS GO WITH GOD. BE AT PEACE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN THE HEART OF THIS COWGIRL.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dennis and with you, the family. I grew up with Gunsmoke and watched many of his other roles. I was really impressed and moved by his more “family value” roles in his career. Every time we would pass his house when passing through Ridgeway, we would always look over in that direction. Many times when we would come to Ridgeway, we would dine at the True Grit Café or stop at some convenience store – really hoping to bump into him just to say hi. When I heard the news of his passing, it was like a part of my history and myself was now missing. [Gerry, I lost my wife about 5 years ago and it changes your life, but time really does have a way of maybe not healing all wounds, but making them a little more tolerable. Stay strong for your children and grandchildren as they really need you now, and you need them. As far us (the public), know we are doing our parts by sending silent prayers your way.] Dennis will be sadly missed. God bless you Gerry, his children and grandchildren.
our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Mr Weaver was greatly admired and a joy to watch. God be with you all.
so sad to hear of mr weaver's passing. he was a favorite. we will remember him through his works.
Dennis Weaver was a giant among men. He had a good heart and a good soul - a very caring man, both in his work and personal life. He cared, not only about his friends and loved ones, but about those he didn't know, or would ever meet. He will be deeply missed. He is deeply loved and respected.
Just watched "Duel" tonight on TV as a tribute. Excellent movie` the sort you can watch over and over again.
Mr Weaver was a wonderful actor with great qualities and will be sadly missed. God bless you Dennis.
I ALWAYS ENJOYED WATCHING GUNSMOKE
CHESTER WAS MY FAVORITE. I WILL
MISS HIM. LOVE TO HIS FAMILY.
We are so sorry to hear of Mr. Weaver's passing. Our prayers and thought go out to the family. May you all find comfort and peace in the LORD. Our family enjoy his films and shows, also pleased they have re-runs now. May the family have joy in the memories they have of him and the time they spent with him. He will be greatly missed by his fans whom grew up in the homes watching him in his different films. He was a great actor and some now days could have learned alot from him. Our hearts go out to you all and may you have comfort knowing how much we enjoyed you sharing him with the world . Thank you for that.
When I first met Dennis Weaver, after his lecture in the Windmill at SRF Lake Shrine in 1981, he was so gracious, so interested in others. I came away feeling that I had met a true disciple of love. My heartfelt condolences to Gerry and their sons and grandchildren. I feel blessed to have met this wonderful soul.
We are going to miss you Dennis .
He was a great actor who will surely be missed. Loved him in gunsmoke and also the wells fargo commericals. I will truly miss him.
Dennis Weaver was one of the all time greats. To his family our sympathies. Know he will be missed by all who watched him in Gunsmoke and McCloud. He never failed to make us laugh when driving his "superiors" nuts in McCloud. God Bless and Keep you all in His Loving Care.
Dennis Weaver will certainly be missed by his many fans for his acting talent. We must also honor his work for the environment, his founding of the Institute of Ecolonomics and the Earthship. Quite simply, Dennis cared about the future of others' lives and our planet. We must honor him by carrying on the campaigns he believed in which will make a difference in the health of people and the health of the planet. Reading his book tells a lot about a great man. May his family and friends be comforted during this difficult time.
My condolences to the Weaver family. What a fine actor and from what I read about him, what a fine humanitarian he was. I have always loved Mr. Weaver. I loved everything he was in. He will be sorely missed and I was sorry to hear of his passing. If we could all emulate his humanitarian work, what a wonderful world we would live in. Thank you, Mr. Weaver, for all the work you did trying to make this world a better place.
Gunsmoke and other TV shows he was on, he showed how it was done, And always had that smile on his face, he has gone to the western in the sky, a better place, Dennis Weaver was a tall, handsome man of our time, and he deserved the fame, He was a husband, dad and friend as well, I can still hear him say; "swell".... Dennis will be remembered by his name of "Chester", a friend to Doc, Miss Kittie, and there was Mr. Dillon;
All in all, Dennis "Chester" will be missed. He was a man of his word, a family oriented and will always stand tall with the Lord. dennis is with the Lord, a prepared room, all decorated in western style I sure, old reruns will be a good cure; of how we feel, a loss from TV show "Gunsmoke", McCloud, and more; You can remember one, cause by knowing, watching Dennis on TV, we have won, and that is why he is home, now I finished my poem, and if he could have read this, he be saying I'm sure; "swell", and we will miss this one.... Dennis Weaver, a man that knew a lot of the old westerns to tell, we will listen to these old TV, movies and remember an actor that never fell, he rose high on the charts, I mean, he was a great person too, Dennis, we will miss you. To his wife, sons and grandchidern, our deepest sympathy, and hold onto the memories of plenty.
I am so glad that my parents introduced me to what an excellent actor Dennis Weaver was. He will never be forgotten.
GUNSMOKE was one of my favorite shows. Dennis Weaver added much to the early episodes. He was excellent in McCloud. I have been watching and listening to him on the Gunsmoke 50th Annversary DVD. Jim Arness has a nice tribute message on his website.
My condolences to the Weaver family. Dennis was a fine actor. He was truly one on the best. They don't have actors like him any more. May he rest in peace.
i was watching an episode of whats my line with guest panelist dennis weaver not realizing that he had just passed some people believe certain things come in threes don knotts darren mcgavin and now dennis weaver three greats of classic tv through the magic of cable dennis weaver will be enjoyed by countless generations whether as chester or mccloud hell be missed but his body of work will live on
I was so shocked when my sister called and told me that Dennis Weaver had passed away, "OH" how he will be missed, we are loosing so many of our favorite Actors that can never be replaced, I want the Good Old Days back like so many others, I'm so thankful we have re-runs to enjoy him all over again, thank you for sharing him with us all. May God be with you all and ease your pain.
May God Bless your Family and bring some comfort to your sadden hearts. Dennis Weaver, such a wonderful person and actor, he will be missed. Watching him on Gunsmoke was a weekly family time for us all, we would all gather on the floor around the television...he sure brought a lot of laughs and a few tears. My grandson is now watching the Gunsmoke re-runs (as well as myself again) he wants to be a cowboy. I also enjoyed him in McCloud, would never miss it. His kindness as a family man/person would come across to us all. Thank You for sharing Dennis Weaver with all his fans. We will miss him. When I watch my Western Channel and he talks about each show I will surely shed a tear because he won't be there anymore. God Bless you
I will always remember this fine actor...I shared his stage name. Rest in Peace.
I have been a fan of his since the 50's, when he was Chester in the wonderful tv western GUNSMOKE. He always seemed so easy-going and totally in control. I've often wondered if he were that way in life, and I've a feeling he was. He was a one-of-a-kind type individual, and he will be sorely missed.
I had not heard of Dennis' passing and happened to come across this just now. I had e-mailed Dennis a couple of years ago just to tell him how much I liked the movie "Duel" and commented on how fast he could run . Dennis replied and said "thank you". I had seen a documentary of him a few years ago about his battle to save the earth. Dennis was a fine actor and he will be missed. May God Bless you and your family.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the Weaver family. We only knew Dennis Weaver 'the actor', but he just seemed like someone that would have made you a better person for having known him.
We were just at the Duel location (diner) the other weekend taking pictures. We also just recently found him doing a role on Wildfire. We had no idea he was ill.
Again, we are so sorry for your loss.
Some of his performances in Gunsmoke when I was a child brought tears to my eyes. there was always some moral lesson. He helped people in more ways than one! *******
May God bless and keep your family during this time. I am saddened to hear of Dennis Weaver's death, he was a fine actor.
From Ashley, Faith, and Virginia B. Castle
My sincere condolences to the Weaver family. My fondest memory of my chilhood is sitting on my dad's or grandfather's lap and watching "Chester" on Gunsmoke. He was my TV pal at the age of 5. He is greatly missed.
I am so saddened that we have lost such a great actor. He reminds me of my brother[in looks] and the love of westerns. May God bless the family.
Our heart warm sympathy goes to the family and may God give you all comfort and strength during this time. We loved watching Chester on Gunsmoke. Dennis will be missed.
Thank you and God Bless you and your family.
I loved to watch Dennis in all his
He will be missed.
I love all his movies, may God bless the Family
My sympathy to the Dennis Weaver Family..... I grew up watching Gun Smoke and even to this day I still watch the re-runs... He will be sadly missed....
We was very sorry to hear of Dennis
death,he was a great actor he will be sadly missed,Gods Speed. May God be with his Family.
i always enjoyed everything dennis did. he was a great actor. my favorite was Duel.
Gunsmoke is one of my favorite westerns, I enjoyed watching Mr. Weaver as "Chester".
I was saddened to hear of Mr. Weaver's passing this weekend; in a selfish kind of way, Mr. Weaver was one of three whomed I mourned-(film-actors), but I know they-all are in a better place. Though I'm not too familiar with his life's journies, my mom was a huge fan. Lord Bless.
I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Weavers passing. My sympathies to the family. He was one my favorite actors growing up. He will be greatly missed.
My sympathy goes out to the family of Mister Dennis Weaver. I grew up watching him on Gunsmoke, Gentle Ben, and McCloud, as well as, in some movies. He has brought a lot to the entertainment industry with his acting ability. Ever since I was a young gal he has always reminded me of my oldest sister’s husband. Furthermore, Dennis Weaver will be missed. God Bless!
I also remember all the great TV and movie roles, but mostly I remember the two of you, Gerry and "Bill" doing a mighty wild jitterbug back in the 40's, when we were school pals together, and best friends for many years before and after. And I remember the songs you wrote together, and sang together, and all the football games and proms, and going to the drive-in for a burger and cherry phosphate ! ! ! Gerry, we love you, and are praying for you and your family. Jeanie & Joe
"M-i-s-ter D-i-l-lon." Many of us were raised with those words. Many of us would repeat that name over and over again as we went to our high school classes. And we can never forget one of the all time thriller movies, 'DUAL'. Dennis Weaver was a real human being off the stage as well as on. Fare-well, McCloud.
Thank you for all the "Wonderful memories of Gunsmoke. Dennis will always be remember as a "Honorable Man. My "Prayers and "Thoughts are with the Family in the Loss, but one day you will meet again and what a "Happiness that will be. "May God Bless. William Black
Ever since seeing 'Duel' for the first time, I've always been trying to spread the glory of that movie through everyone I meet.
I sit here, tapping this message. Your picture is to the right of me and it makes it almost possible to believe that you have really never left this eartly realm. Years ago, as a family of seven, we watched all of your television programs, and as of late, just the two of us have continued to watch you hosting the "oldies" on the Western Channel. We shall continue to seek you out in reruns and that will keep you close. You shall not fade away from us. I am sooo lucky! I have been told that my husband resembles you. To your family, to each and every one...my deepest sympathy. And Dennis, keep on smiling across the heavens.
Gerri, this is Jean Z.'s daughter, Peggy. I'm so sorry for the grief your family must be feeling. Hopefully, over the next few months of reading people's memories will provide you with much solace. You are in our prayers. I certainly enjoyed meeting the Weaver family when I was 15 on our family vacation (about 1963?), and your hospitality, and Dennis' guitar playing. And I REALLY got a kick about 20 years later in K.C. when you were both here doing a show. It was raining like crazy, and Mom, Dad & me were able to spend some time with you in your trailer. And I did a remarkable job of bringing up the tender subject of Dr. Demento's love of "The Chicken Mash" song. I still have that 45-record!
We will always remember the chaaracter of Chester B Good from Gunsmoke. It is with much sorrow we must say goodbye to yet another of our friends from the arts. We extend our sympathies and lamantations.
I am sorry for your loss and for the loss of our country. Dennis was one of the greatest actors around, and they are far and few between. He was wonderful in Gunsmoke and McCloud. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Foremost sympathy to the Weaver Family. Dennis I grew up admiring men like you and Matt on the screen. When it's my time to go hope to meet all of you guys from the western screen, you made my time as a youngster a pleasure, watching the western shows. Back then as a youngster I wore my western play pistols, hat & boots to be like you guys, it seemed like I almost personally knew you
Will miss you!
It's so sad to hear that he died he was a honorable man and was a great guy!! I know that Dennis knew my dad and he used my dad's horse in a movie!!! Sorry to hear the news!!!
I don't recall where/when I first saw you in 'Duel', but it has been a favorite of mine ever since that my brother Ross and I will always enjoy. You are among a few in our shared profession I would have loved to have met.
will never forget you as chester. was upset when he left gunsmoke, but he did very well especially McCLOUD REALLY LOVED THAT SHOW. BUT WILL FOREVER LOVE HIM AS CHESTER
My fondest memories of Gunsmoke certianly included Dennis Weaver, his character. To this very day, I love Westerns because of that show. When I saw his face on the front page of the legacy website I was shocked, I hadn't heard anything about his passing. To his wife and children I offer you my most sincere condolences. I know that your memories with him are too numerous to count, those memories will warm your hearts in the days ahead. Psalms 34:18 says, "Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart;
And those who are crushed in spirit he saves." Go to our Creator for comfort and you will find refreshment for your souls. (Matthew 11:29) Take Care
Ah yes, we shall never forget these great actors. Hollywood is lacking because of this loss. Gunsmoke was a great series with Dennis Weaver.
What a great and honerable man
I was greatly saddened to hear of Mr. Weaver's passing. You know they say bad things come in "threes", and I guess it's true. Don Knotts, Darren McGavin and Dennis Weaver. I grew up watching these three men. I'm sorry for my children and nieces and nephews that they don't have the good, clean, family entertainment on regular television that was produced with the talent of men (and women) like these three. I'm sorry that as we get older, we lose more of the Legends of our time. You made us laugh, cry and even tremble with fear, and you did it without profanity, nudity and blood and gore. Thank you. I only wish that we could go back to the "good old days". My prayers are with your family. God Bless You.
I was saddened to hear of Dennis' death. I had met Dennis several years ago in Ore City, Tx when his sister Jerri and her husband Denzel came by the police station where I worked so Dennis and I could meet. He was good person and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
One of my fondest memories is curling up on my grandpa's lap and watching Gunsmoke. We just loved Chester. As the years went by we kept up with Dennis Weaver and thoroughly enjoyed anything he brought to his viewing audience.
I loved "Duel!" Mr. Weaver was better than great in that movie!
He came across on screen as a good and kind man. I see from the other entries this was a true fact in his personal life. I am not surprised.
Rest in peace Dennis Weaver.
You gave much to this life in more ways than one.
Thanks for the inspiration. God bless. Sgt. mark Sanford, Gordon county Sheriff's office
gerry:what is there to say. a good man is gone from this world. those who knew him and met him as we all did will never really be without him as he will always be with us in our hearts and our memories of him.

Mr. Dillon, Chester has died! I still watch the old Gunsmoke episodes with Chester Good. He was and still is the most unforgetable character on T.V. I Loved Dennis in whatever he did. Everytime an old T.V show or movie came on that Dennis was on I always watched it. He sort of reminded me of my Uncle who was always smiling and joking around. I will miss you and pray that your family find peace in the Lord.

My condolences to the family and all who adored this class of 'A' man.
We will all miss him emmencely.
Mr. Weaver as I know him and studied the best of Dennis Weaver, his acting was an extension of his personality, and in part made me want to think of him as a friend as much as a TV personality or actor.
Few people have touched my life threw the TV and Films.
Dennis Weaver is, 'My Hero'. I'm blessed to have known him.
I believe in God's promise, of us all to be together in his kingdom.
I plan to meet Mr. Weaver one day.
Our condolences to the family of Mr. Dennis Weaver. Thank you Dennis, for your years of entertaining us. Rest in Peace, Sam. God Speed.
When hearing about Dennis Weaver, it occured to me how very few of the greats do we still have with us. There are not too many trees left from the Great Forest. As a child growing up in that era, I feel very lucky, no matter how much new technology is out there and all the "effects" they use now, it all pales in comparison. It was a very special era and Dennis Weaver was very much a part of that. We shouldn't also forget his great Respect ond Love he had for our Earth and all living things. He gave us many hours of enjoyment, any one out there not familiar with his years in TV should do some catching up.
What a blessing Dennis was to this planet and to all those who heard and felt him speak about God. Deepest sympathies to you, sweet family. God love and bless each of you. Dennis was and is loved. That does not go away. He gave so much to this world. So much. Now he is with his Master and has his much deserved peace and love and joy. I will keep you all in my prayers. May Christ and the Great Ones lift you up in peace and comfort.
My husband watch Gunsmoke on the Western Channel every night. His favorit sidekick is Chester. He will be missed. We have a way of being alright when a certain person is still alive. Once that person dies, even thought we don't know them, we begin to miss them. May God bless and keep your family. My prayer are with your family.
To Gerry and the family of Dennis Weaver
As a former classmate from Joplin High School, it has been so wonderful to watch Dennis evolve from a dedicated actor to an internationally known humanitarian. We will all miss you, Dennis. God bless your family.
Dennis, we'll miss your introductions on the Western Channel.
TO THE FAMILY OF MR. WEAVER ALL OF THE FANS THAT HAS WATCHED HIM ON TV ARE VERY SADDEN TO HEAR OF YOUR LOST. HE WILL BE MISSED VERY MUCH AND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.HE CAME INTO OUR LIVING ROOMS EVERY NIGHT.HE IS PART OF OUR FAMILY. ELTON
I loved watching you on McCloud when I was a kid. I am even old enough to remember you as the father on "Gentle Ben." I admired your activism and your acting. You will be missed by all.
Although you were in many movies and shows, the one I enjoyed the most was DUEL. To this day when we pass a semi-truck, it sometimes runs in my head of the terror in that movie. You were a great actor and will be sadly missed.
Dennis Weaver brought me much joy with his protrayals of Chester and of McCloud. In fact, everything I had the opportunity of seeing him act in gave me great pleasure. His passing, along with his contemporarys', Don Knotts and Daren McGavin, has caused me a deep feeling of loss and sadness.
Thank you for entertaining me almost all my life, and say hello to God for me.
Wow first Darren Mc Gavin and Don Knotts and now Dennis Weaver. That makes three of the greatest actors of all time. we sure are loosing several of them these days. young ones and those that we have been watching for our lives and our parents lives. im still watching reruns of all of those that we all have lost in our tv world and our music and big screen world. we have lost another fabulous actor. three in just a few days at a time. its such a very sad time for the familys of these wonderful men and to us fans and to holiwood too. a sad time for us all. but i know that they are all at pease and acting up together in holiwood heaven. walking that red carpet. and will most deffinetly be watching the tv land awards for thier names to be up in lights still. Dennis you were a great man my friend. Bless your family and friends.
My condolences to the family. I enjoyed watching him on tv.
You will be missed greatly. God Speed.

I still watch Gunsmoke and I am still very much entertained by the antics of "Chester". McCloud will always be a favorite of mine. In my opinion, Duel was and is one of the best dramatic movies I have seen. You get the feeling the Mr. Weaver was a good and caring human being. It is a shame that in a time when these individuals are needed they are being taken from us.
My sincere condolences to the Weaver family. While Dennis felt that "McCloud" was the pinnacle of his career, my favorite portrayal was "Chester" in the Gunsmoke series. I still enjoy watching the reruns!

Mr. Weaver was someone that I looked up too, he was a very true man of himself.
When I saw him on the T.V. just like so many other's around the country.
He was very popular in Boise, where I was born.
People would stop what they were doing, because either Gunsmoke was on or it was time for Mc Cloud.
Mr. Weaver I personally am really going to miss you.
You know everytime McCloud jumped on one of those horses and galloped down the streets of New York City, I cringed at the thought of him and the horse taking a spill because of the horseshoes..Nice job, pardner..RIP

Cancer is a bad thing, my Daddy, passed away from it, (10) ten years ago. We don't get over it, we learn to live with it. And its not always easy, but the Lord will see us through.
Again, I am so sorry.
WHO WILL EVER FORGET CHESTER & "MR. DILLION???" ONE OF THE FUNNIEST EPISODES OF GUNSMOKE AND THE SADDEST WAS WHEN CHESTER THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO GET MARRIED & BUILT THE UNDERGROUND HOME THAT GOT FLOODED. OF COURSE THE SAD PART WAS HE TRIED SO HARD & THE GIRL LAUGHED & LEFT HIM WHEN SHE SAW THE HOME. THE "DUGOUT" AS HE CALLED IT WAS JUST NOT HER IDEAL HOME? IT WAS HILARIOUS TO SEE CHESTER WORKING SO HARD TO CREATE SUCH A DUMP BUT PAINFUL TO SEE HER DUMP HIM! NO DOUBTS JAMES ARNESS WILL MISS THIS LEGEND & SO WILL I. DENNIS MAY YOU BE RIDING THE GOLDEN TRAILS OF HEAVEN RIGHT NOW! I LOVED YOU MAN!
We always looked forward to Dennis

What a wonderful actor and man. I loved his many performances: from "Gunsmoke" through "McCloud" to the great "Centennial" back in the 70's. And who can forget his great performance in the Spielberg TV suspense movie with the truck, the name of which escapes me now. And from all accounts, as great a man as he was an actor. I lived over in LA for a lotta years. Some years ago, I opened the LA "Times" to the letters-to-the-editor column. One of the letters was from Dennis Weaver. He wrote to apologize to all his fans for being unable to perform as scheduled at Knott's Berry Farm the previous Saturday evening. As he explained, the drummer in his band had injured an arm, and the performance had to be postponed.
How many other performers would have taken the time to do that?
Dennis Weaver's was a life well lived. We'll miss him.
SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS OF MR. DENNIS WEAVER WAS A GREAT ACTOR I LOVED TO HEAR HIM TALK. HE' WITH THE ANGELS AND GOD NOW. HE'LL BE WITHOUT PAIN FROM THE CANCER NOW. I WILL MISS SEEING IN NEW MOVES. WILL ALWAYS WATCH HIM IN GUNSMOKE AND McCLOUD.

You helped us recognize the power of the human spirit -- on the small screen and on the large screen of life. The world is better because you were here.
We have lost another dear, wonderful actor. May God be with the family of Dennis Weaver at this time. He was such a wonderful actor, so caring and loving. I don't remember Chester very well but definitely loved his show McCloud. I also loved Gentle Ben with Clint Howard. Mr. Weaver will be dearly missed. God Bless You!
I loved Mr. Weaver's portrayal of McCloud in the NBC Mystery Movies. The "down-homeness" of his character made him so likeable. It was one of my favorite characters. He will be surely missed.
My family love watching anything with Dennis Weaver in it - my brother and I grew up on 'Gunsmoke' and we really love his midwestern twang since we're not far from Joplin,Mo he sounds a lot like all of us. We love the down-earthiness of him and now I see all the ways he also protected that earth. A marvelous person with real values, not over-shadowed by "Hollywood"! Sympathy and Prayers to the family!
We enjoyed Dennis in Gun Smoke,Duel,Mcloud. And a lot of other things. We also enjoyed seeing him talk on encore westerns channel. God bless the Weaver family and wrap Dennis in his loving arms.
I grew up with Dennis on TV. Great guy! He will be missed.
Our sympathy to the Weaver family. Dennis was an actor's actor. "Duel" had so much emotions in it that it just captived you into the movie. We will always remember Dennis in "Gunsmoke" and "McCloud". He is now one of God's stars in heaven.
Good Actor, enjoyed his work in movies and TV Shows, but especially Marshall Sam McCloud. Our thoughts are with you all.
