For me, he came across as a wonderful human being, star status and all!..I'm Italian and when he would utter some Italian words, that certainly warmed my Sicilian heart.

To the Deluise Family,
My condolences on the loss of your loved one. Dom had a talent a gift to make those around him laugh and feel good in his presence, whether on TV or in person. His generosity of spirit reminds me of Jesus and how he too wanted to give life to others, to provide kindness, “ and a great multitude of people…came to HEAR him and be healed of their sicknesses…seeking to touch him, because power was going out of him and healing them all. ~Luke 6:17-19 Please continue to pray for each other because it has much power, and provides comfort. Dom will be missed.

For Dom...the portly actor-comedian whose affable nature made him a popular character actor for decades with movie and TV audiences as well as directors and fellow actors.

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

May 30, 2009
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The world has lost one of it's true comedians...You will surely be missed. I remember when I was about 12, you had a cabin up in Frazier Park. For some reason, I looked you up in the phone book...you were listed...and I called you. What I would have said if you had answered the phone is beyond me!!!

I am truly sorry to hear of Dom DeLuise passing away, but Heaven has a great soul now!
My initial sentiment was the world was a little less brighter now, less joyful, but that thought changed to ALOT less, when I started recalling his true gifts and how he will be missed. My Mother passed recently also and at one time was host of a radio show in Erie PA, called Linda Page, Dom was one of her early guests, when he was still up and coming ( in the early 1950's). I just learned of this when she passed, all that time ago. Please accept my condolences on this great loss.
May 11, 2009
I was sorry to hear of Dom's passing...My daughter and I had the pleasure of attending a book signing at the Book Bag in Valparaiso, Indiana...Dom was very pleasant and took the time to greet all the people there and he made me feel like he was my good friend...I still have his signed book and I cherish a picture of the two of us...The world has lost a great man...

At the time, I was in my early 20's...I remember you walked up and asked me for change for a $20 bill...I was so shocked that you were standing in front of me... all I could think of was ...dont make a mistake! I didnt....but I will tell ya...that was the hardest $20 I ever had to make change for!! You were a real sweethart and gave me your autograph! Thanks for the memories Dom...God Bless You...Rest in Peace.

May 09, 2009
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dom was a man of exceptional talent who has given his heart to his profession and has enlightened his fans with his wit and wisdom. He was truly a great man and the loss to the world is immeasurable. He will always be remembered!! Our condolences for your loss.
May 09, 2009
I always liked and admired him for his talent. He was NEVER boring amd he had a zest for life. He was a great man for too many reasons and he always got my attention while watching him on film. I would hate myself if I didn't express how sad his passing on has made me and left this world a little darker. His name projected greatness and I am awed.
May 08, 2009
You will be missed very much. There r no words to express the loss of a loved one. Believe me, I know. My 19 year old daughter tragically fell to her death on 12/17/09. She loved watching old movies with me into the early hours of the morning. He would always make us laugh. I am sure Dom is with her and others in heaven. He is filling them with laughter joy. In a strange way I believe she brought me to this guest book. You see I was going to write on her guest book but somehow ended up here.
I think it is her way of telling me not to be sad and bringing some fun memories to me right now.
The bible promises us that God will make up for lost time. So we may be sad now cuz we r left behind but we will have eternity together. My prayers and thoughts r with u all.
May 08, 2009

A Great Funnyman - You Will Be Missed, Mr. DeLuise

To the family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Someone said it best, that his laughter was infectious. I was saw him in Atlantic City with a group of people and we were by the stage. I'll never forget when he asked a member of our group her name, and she said "Mary Smith". He just looked at her, and said you're kidding, right! When she said no he just started to laugh, and laughed for about 10 minutes. I think it ruined his next joke but he was laughing so hard he didn't care. And we all laughed with him.

May God bless him.
May 07, 2009
He will be missed. My prayers are with his family.
May 07, 2009

My husband and I had the honor of being apprentices at BRITT (Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training) in Tequesta, Florida during the 1994/95 season. Mr. Deluise sat in on one of our late night classes and we will always remember his kindness that night. He asked me if I wouldn't mind getting him a soda and I remember being so excited that DOM DELUISE ASKED ME TO GET HIM A SODA!!! To the dear family of Mr. Deluise, please know we will hold him tenderly in our memories.
May 07, 2009
To Dom's Family, May his memories keep you smileing and laughing. I know they'll keep me laughing and smileing. So you's take care and you know he's at peace and with the Lord who will take real good care of him. God Bless you all.

WE ARE SENDING OUR LOVE, PRAYERS,& CONDOLENCES TO THE DELUISE FAMILY & ALL WHO KNEW DOM.
May 07, 2009
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was so saddened to learn of the news of Dom's passing. He and I regularly played blackjack together, when he would be visiting or performing at Resort's Casino in Atlantic City back in the late 90's. Merv Griffin and Dom were great friends and it was a pleasure to be in the company of both. One particular night Dom told the female dealer...while pointing to me... "this guy here is a real son-of-a bi*ch ... watch him, he'll cheat too!" Shorthly thereafter he burst into a chorus of his infamous pasta fazool song! Ahh, Dom, ole pal... you were one of a kind and will sorely be missed!

To The DeLuise Family,

I am writing to express my sympathy for the loss of your dear loved one. Although Dom will be missed by millions the world over, I know that as close family members you are dealing with special feelings that we could never know. My heart goes out to you. Even Christ Jesus "became sorely troubled and gave way to tears" at the death of his close friend Lazarus although he knew that he would resurrect him only a moments later.(John 11:35,38-44) The miracle of Lazarus' resurrection foreshadows one of the blessings we will enjoy under Christ's reign in the paradise promised in the Bible at Psalms 37:9-11 and John 5:28,29. As we await the outworking of all of Jehovah God's promises, I hope that you will find comfort in knowing that others are thinking of you. Again, you have my deepest sympathy.
May 06, 2009
I always say that God does things that we just don't understand, but when he made Dom we already knew he was going to give a good show.

I cant say enough for this swell guy, his personality, his love for his career, and people, his gentleness, his sense of humor, i join the rest here to say, i am so sorry, he will from the bottom of my heart be truly missed. and I am sorry. You must be hurting terribly, because of this. I know you all of his family are so swell yourselves. Well, I want to share a scripture with you. John 11 chapter, speakes of Lazarus, the very Dear Friend of Jesus Christ, and he fell asleep in death. Jesus learning of this quickly got to him. and brought his back to life. again. This lets us know that there will be a Resurrection back to life, that there will soon be no more Death under Gods arrangement of things for mankind. Take heart, His words are faithful and true. Sincerely

A while back someone asked me if I could spend the day and have lunch with someone
who whould it be? I said Dom DeLuise, hands down. She asked why and I said because I love to laugh and he always
makes me laugh. He and Burt Reynolds
were a comedy team like no other.
The schtick he did with Ruth Buzzy on TV
he, as a magician and she as his assistant named Shagundala was the funniest thing I have ever seen and will never forget it. If anyone could find
a clip of that and either show it on TV
or make a DVD I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Anyway, getting back to the friend that asked me the question called to see if she could come over to pay a condolence call because she knew how much I loved him. I will miss him desperately.
May 06, 2009
Our condolences to the family of Dom,

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I grew up watching Dom in many comedies, and always loved and admired his comic acting. He has that very kind voice as well to do childrens cartoon voice overs, such as all dogs go to heaven where he played the lovable sidekick itchy. He will be dearly missed as one of the best humanitarians and actors that this world has ever seen. I loved his quick wit and quips. My sincerest condolences go out to his family in this very difficult time. Thank you for sharing a lifetime of love and laughter with us Dom.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

AS I WAS STILL RECOVERING FROM MY BOUT WITH CANCER AND HE HELPED TO CHEER ME UP AND TOLD ME NOT TO GIVE UP HOPE...I DIDN'T AND I AM STILL AROUND FOR AWHILE...I ASKED HIM IF MY OLD SCHOOL CHUM HIS WIFE CAROL WAS WITH HIM, BUT, SHE HAD JUST LEFT TO BACK HOME TO PACIFIC PALISADES...CAROL AND I WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER IN OUR HOME TOWN OF EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY..I WAS A YEAR AHEAD OF HER, BUT, WE USED TO TALK TO EACH OTHER FROM TIME TO TIME...TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, DOM IS WITH THE LORD NOW, AND STILL CRACKING JOKES I AM SURE...MAY GOD BE WITH YOU CAROL AND THE FAMILY AT THIS TIME...YOUR OLD SCHOOL CHUM AND FRIEND...KARL AND PAULA LACHNER...

To the Dom DeLuise family; My sincere sympathy. In 1986 I took my son to Ceasars in A.C., for his 10th Bday to see Mr. DeLuises show. After the show we were invited back stage for a photo op.(see photo)You can clearly see we were all happy. God rest his soul.

To the Family of Dom Deluise,

I am so sorry for the loss of such a family treasure like Mr.Deluise. Often the family can recall some of their wonderful, and funny stories about the good old days in HollyWood. I know he will be missed.

This has to be a hard time for the family, so I wanted to share some encouraging thoughts from the Bible.

At Revelation 21:5-"God promises that he will wipe out every tear from our eye and death will be no more".

Matthew 5:4-"Happy are those who mourn, since they will be mourn. This comfort can be found at Psalms 37:29-"The rigthteous themselves will possess the earth and they will reside forever upon it".

I hope these scriptures bring the family a measure of peace.

From a Stranger who cares.

First of all my family is deeply saddened by the passing Dom, and our prayers go out to the entire DeLuise Family.

My Grandmother, Dom & Carol exchanged Holiday Cards every year. That all began several years ago when my Grandmother talked with Dom when he was a guest on a New Jersey radio show; she told him that she went to school with his wife Carol and they talked off-air for a while.

May God watch over the DeLuise Family,

May 05, 2009
Just yesterday, my husband and I were talking about Dom DeLuise and how he makes us laugh. "No applause-a, please! Save it fa de end-a!", we both said at the same time and then cracked up discussing all of his characters.

Dom was such a gentle, caring, sincere personality and will be greatly missed. I glad that the thousands of people he performed for throughout his career gave him all the applause he deserved and didn't "save it for the end."

God bless you, Dom. May your family and friends take solace in knowing your time here on earth made so many people's live richer and fuller.

May 05, 2009
I always loved your father. I grew up watching him on TV. He was always such a happy guy. He always made me smile and laugh. I remember watching the out-takes of Cannonball Run. I wished I could've been on that movie set just for the out-takes. They are still the best out-takes I've ever seen.

Your father was a lot like mine, larger than life, always happy, and he loved to eat. When my dad died, I wrote his eulogy. When I read it at his funeral the biggest laugh I got was when I told everyone that he didn't eat to live, but lived to eat. Everyone that knew my dad, knew that was the truth.

I will really miss your father. He was one of the great ones. Much like my father, yours also died way too soon. Treasure all of your wonderful memories and know that one day you will be together again. That's what I hold onto every day - the hope of being with my dad again, otherwise, his loss would be too great to bear. But his love lives on in all of us, just as your father's love will live on in you.
May 05, 2009
Dom was and always will be one of my favorite comedians. He will be truely missed. I'm sure Heaven holds much more laughter today. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

My little daughter and I were shopping in a thrift store in Jupiter some years ago attempting to find a stand for an aquarium. At the same time, another customer in the store was also looking for some hidden treasures, or perhaps enjoying another South Florida sunny day. As we met in an aisle near the furniture and bric-a-brac, we literally bumped into a sweet man also looking for hidden treasures. I explained, "Oh my Goodness, you look just like Dom Deluise!" The man replied, "That's amazing- people tell me that all the time, but I am so much better-looking!" We began a short conversation about our search for an aquarium, in which he gladly assisted. As we parted and exited the store, a clerk pulled me aside and informed me that the man was indeed Dom Deluise. I was so embarassed, but at the urging of my daughter, returned to Mr. Deluise, apologized and asked for an autograph. Mr. Deluise chuckled and smiled his infamous smile, and said he would be honored. I have that autograph today - I will always cherish his unassuming manner and sweet approach to his fans. What a wonndeful man- our sympathies to his family and his close friend, Mr. Reynolds.

May 05, 2009
One fine day long ago, I was on the studio lot (can't recall - Warner's or Columbia) with my agent, Lola Moore, and we passed by Dom's office. I said to her, "Let's go in." It was doubtful that he was even there at the time, anyway, but I figured we could at least leave a friendly greeting. Dom was one of my favorites, and, coincidentally, I'd only recently begun writing a treatment for a movie I felt he might consider. But Lola pointed out that since it wasn't even close to completed, thus I had nothing to show him, why bother him? Of course, she was right. Yet I wish we HAD at least gone in that day. On the remote chance that he was inside, it would have been, as it turned out, my only opportunity to tell him in person how much I enjoyed his appearances, and what a fine performer I thought he was, a masterful comedian, a natural.

I went back and contined to develop that project-idea for him, when Lola, up in years already, took sick, and ultimately left this earth.

Thereafter, without her, my writing days dwindled, and I never completed my project for Dom. But I can tell you now: He would've made the best and funniest SANTA we've ever seen! And his comic genius would have added to the role things that even the writer can't dream up.

To the family, you've lost his company and affection. Understanding what that's like, I feel for you all. But maybe it'll do your hearts some good to remember how he was able to pleasure the world. From entertaining, to his delightful cooking, he spread good feelings everywhere! Quite an accomplishment for one person, wouldn't you say?

To his fans - so many - who must go on without his continuing, endearing wit, I know how you feel, too -- as if you've each lost a personal friend, right? But you can be glad that you once had him as a part of your own lives. He made life just a little more FUN, didn't he? And, not to forget, we all can still view him on the tube. So, in a way, it's like he's still with you -- forever with us all.

As far as myself, being both Fan AND writer, I've lost someone who not only was a THRILL to watch, but also, I lost Santa Claus.

I will greatly miss DOM DELUISE! I guess, just knowing he was always there, kept my dreams alive, and made me smile.

God bless his family.

And to Dom, God bless YOU, and thank you! Keep 'em laughing up there, okay?
May 05, 2009

I am so sorry to hear he is gone! I adored him so much. I really enjoyed his take on "nero" in History of the World, Part I. That character was my DAD!!!!!!!!! Only funnier. :)
This obit was nice, BUT one thing wasnt mentioned was his infectious laugh! He didnt even have to talk, when he started laughing, it would make me laugh harder and it was difficult to stop. He looked like my father, but had the personality I would have liked my Dad to have. In short, I loved the man like a close relative even though we never met. I share this with his family to let them know the wide and tender reach his legacy will leave. God Bless your family.

I HAD TO GO AWAY

I had to go away.
I'm sorry you couldn't come with me.
But on earth is where you shall stay.
Please do not be sad.
Instead laugh and be glad.
I'm in a beautiful place, such a beautiful place.
I know you wont see me for a while.
But you will hear from me.
I will be the wind that will chill you on a hot summer day.
I will be the sun that will warm you when it's cold.
Listen to the birds sing, I will be saying, "I love you" in their song.
I know you can't touch me.
But you will feel me.
Because I will be inside of you giving you life on the days you feel like you can't go on anymore.
Please I beg of you, go on, live your life as I lived mine.
Always remember we will be together again.
I will be patiently waiting for you on that day.
When you will join me in this beautiful place.
Until then may God bless you with his almighty grace.

To the family of Dom Deluise,

I saw him once in a casino in Atlantic City many years ago as I believe he was allowing his mother to play the slots. My two friends were trying to tell him jokes when I told them leave him alone, he's trying to enjoy time with his family. From the movies with Mel Brooks and Burt Reynolds this gentlemen was a delight to see even on the reruns playing when he was on the Dean Martin Variety and Roast Shows on NBC. May He Rest in Peace.

He will truly be missed by many. Thanks for all the laughs and the many memories you left us.

I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Rest In Peace, Dom Deluise!

I met Dom and Carol back in 1990. I have to say, he was quite possibly the funniest man I have ever known. We went out to dinner and he grabbed the light over the table and threw water all over and was yelling, "Man overboard!" Man, that one of the funnest dinners I have ever had. Thanks for the memories...
