What a damn shame! I particularly enjoyed him on Power,Privelege, and Justice which I still watch today and just like everyone else was captivated by the narration in each show! WOW what a story teller! I am shocked to just read about this when I came across "After the Party" which I haven't seen yet but will on HULU. Rest in Peace my friend and be free! Hopefully, you are with God and Dominique.

God...what talent.

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Hi, I have been here before. I'm here again cause I love Dominick Dunne. I have watched him for years. I know both of the children. (Sad about his daughter years ago) I will miss him so much. I am very sorry about his passing. A great guy. I will miss you. I'm a huge fan of yours!!!!!
October 09, 2009
Dear Griffin,

I was so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. I actually heard it from my friend Babara C, the librarian at the Lyme Library.

Though it'd been many years since our "Fay Days," when I moved to Lyme in the late 90's I learned your Dad was a resident there too. I'd always thought our paths would cross one day since we both appreciated and patronized our great little local library. I thought I'd tell him of our adventures up in Southborough in the "early days," but unfortunately that never happened.

Your Dad was one of the great ones. With an ability to transcend celebrity with a real dose of humanity.

I hope all is well in your life. I went to my 40th year reunion at Fay last year, (so hard to believe) which was the first time I'd returned since graduating in '68, lots of changes and memories...

Wishing you my sincere condolences, and all the best.

To the Family, Friends, Co-Workers, Authors and all whom have worked and knew this amazing man. I never missed a show or a repeat. A great teller he was. My heart goes out to all of you. As we all know, Dominick Dunne was a very intelligent man. His shoes will be sadly missed but I do pray that they do repeat his shows from time to time. He will be hard to replace on earth but has found happiness in Heaven with his Dear Daughter. He is "NOW AT PEACE."

Mr. Dunne proved that there are indeed second chances in life. I will miss his witty commentaries on the rich and infamous, and the ease with which he moved between their world and that of a courtroom journalist. Vanity Fair has lost my favorite contributor and our culture an astute observer. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved daughter and Lenny.

September 07, 2009
You'll truly be missed by lots of fans. May you rest in peace.
September 07, 2009
I absolutely adored Dominick Dunne. He was a no holds barred reporter and his TV series showed that the rich Can't get away with it, even with money. I am glad that he will be reunited with his daughter in the next life, for which he will, probably, still be working on exposing the criminals, like he has always done. Peace be with his family.
September 07, 2009
Dominick Dunne was one of the most believable and trusted journalist and author I have every read. He always paid so much attention to detail, you felt like you were right there witnessing what he wrote about. I loved his column in Vanity Fair and read all of his books.
He always sought the truth and would not compromise his judgement, ever though it wasn't the popular position. There will never be another Dominick Dunne.
September 07, 2009
Our Prayers are with the Dunne Family Dominick was a good man. Thank you for all the stories. He will be missed. But he is in NO PAIN now.
September 07, 2009
I was sorry to hear of Mr. Dunne's passing. I always looked forward to his show and whenever I heard his voice on tv I just had to watch. He now will rest in peace with his daughter and just knowing that, I hope that brings his family solace and comfort. He will be missed. God Bless you and Godpseed.
September 07, 2009
I was extremely saddened to read about the death of Mr. Dunne. I discovered his books quite some time ago, and after reading the first one I found that I could not stop till I'd read them all. The bible at Zechariah 8:16 exhorts us to let truth and justice be in all our dealings. I am sure that Mr. Dunne would find comfort in the fact that the bible holds out a hope for lovers of justice. May the God of all comfort be with you and your family at this time.
September 07, 2009
So sorry that Dominick Dunne is not with us anymore....He was always so interesting and I enjoyed his style of reporting and writing very much....He took us places that we could not go on our own...and I'm glad he had the ability and "want to" and gumption to soldier on......He let us all live through him. I commend him for never backing down. A brave example for everyone.

So sad to hear about Dominick's passing. He will be with Dominique now. I watched his show just last night, and will always look forward to the repeats. My condolences go to his family and friends. He certainly seemed to live a "full" life, right up until the end. I wondered what happened to my favorite writer DD in V.F. His writings of the rich and famous were writings made of sophistication and class not one iota of tabloid...I have been missing his column ...and thus another great writer bites the dust may he live forever in all his books. September 03, 2009
I loved watching Mr. Dunne's show. He always spoke for the victims. My family to had suffered the loss of a loved one by way of murder and if you let it consume you it will destroy your life , but he did something positive from his loss as hard as it was to face life without your loved one . He encouraged all of us to keep pushing ahead and try to change laws and make a difference. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Dunne always conducted himself with such dignity and class..and had such wit and insight. I looked forward to articles he wrote for Vanity Fair and was neve disappointed. His telivision show was a must see every week! He always covered trials with class and kept the feelings of all involved in mind. But his empathy for the victims is what touched me the most. When Mr. Dunne's precious daughter was murdered he became a champion for victims LONG before it was "fashionable" to do so. He was a class act and will be greatly missed..God Bless his family and our prayers are with them! N Chisholm, Texas

Griffin,
My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father. (You and I met briefly twenty something years ago in an elevator at WMA in new york. you got on and i just had to tell you how much i enjoyed you in "American Werewolf...", especially the scene in the theater when you tell your old friend his only option. you smiled back at me and said something like, " yeah, that was a great look, wasn't it?")
i saw you recently in your dad's documentary, "after the party", and i thought back on what a nice guy you were and how i wished you and your dad happiness and good times together.
the film revealed your father, to those of us who never had the pleasure of meeting him, to be a very open and brave man; willing to grow in public while doing what he could to contribute to making ours a clearer thinking and more honest and just society. It also showed you Griffin being open about disappointments, hopes, and ultimately, your loving acceptance.
I hope you and your family are comforted by the love you all shared with your Dad. i'm sure he was very proud of the artist and gentle mensch that you are and no doubt, always will be. hang in there man...peace...
September 02, 2009

Dominick was a dear friend and will be missed by many. He always kept in touch and I had the pleasure of visiting him at his home in CT and his apt. in NY. He was a brilliant writer, kind person, doting father and just a pleasure to know. I heard of his death while in Paris, so I went to Notre Dame to light a candle for my Catholic friend. Although I knew he was ill, we are never ready when the time comes. I did have a feeling since he had not answered my last two notes and he always answered me. Prayers are with Griffin, Alex and Hannah and all those friends, like me, who had the pleasure of knowing Dominick.
You are finally with your beloved Lenny once again.

Dear Mr. Dunne, I hope you will once again be reunited with your loving daughter.
August 31, 2009
I send my condolences out to Mr. Dunne's sons and granddaughter. Being a fan of his novels and Vanity Fair articles, I was both shocked and thrilled some years ago to see his name on the list of Famous People Who Stutter on the website of The Stuttering Foundation. The fact that Mr. Dunne was so open about his past stuttering no doubt served to inspire young people struggling with the speech disorder. I can think of no better role model for kids in terms of perserverance and achievement. Dominick Dunne touched so many people in so many ways; his openness about his stuttering was just one of many ways he helped others. The world is now a far different place without him. May he rest in peace.

August 30, 2009
I absolutely adored Dominick Dunne's work. Although I'd never had the priviliege of meeting him, I felt as if I knew him. He was an intellect and acclaimed man that was diverse, yet focused and passionate about his work and writing. He came across and presented himself as a sincere and caring man that genuinely liked to help people and "do good." He took many chances and risks and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. I respected him immensly for this. He went out on a limb for people. Bravo Mr. Dunne.
His writing was extraordinary and I relished reading anything that he had written and all of his articles in VF.
I'd always hoped I'd run into him in E. Haddam and once had a thought that I do have a great story for a best seller, and he's the only man I'd ever consider to write it! I will really miss Mr. Dunne and his writing. He was truly a gift.
My sympathies go to his family and friends of many... Dominick is irreplacable. I'm very sad about this loss. God Bless.

He was an example of good character and integrity. I will deeply miss him. Rest in Peace Dominick.

A great man of his times. He should be remembered as a man of justice, a patriot, and a man who placed the safety of his soldiers ahead of his own. He leaves a great body of work behind and this is his ever lasting legacy. The world a better place because of him. Thank you, Mr. Dunne.

My father and I enjoyed many an hour of Dominick Dunne's TV series on Court TV and Tru.TV. We would stay up until 3 a.m. to see it. I just loved Mr. Dunne. He went after the story of these rich folks that thought they could get away with murder and I just loved the way he did this on his show- power, privilage and justice. What a great show. He always did great work and the spirit of his daughter keep him doing great work. She was always with him and now take comfort that he is with her now. I had great respect for Mr Dunne. I was hooked when I read 'The Two Mrs Grenvilles' which intrigued me to read the story behind it. I read as much of his material as I could. When he was present at the murder trial of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, I told my husband, "we will eventually know all of the truth about what really happened because Mr Dunne is there". This very day we viewed an episode of 'Power Priviledge and Justice', one of our favorite shows. We shall miss him. We shall miss his integrity. Thank you, Mr Dunne.
August 29, 2009
I am a faithful reader of Mr. Dunne's work, and I NEVER miss (thanks to TiVo) an addition of "Power, Priviledge, and Justice." I even watch the re-runs over and over. I loved his insight and his ironic style of delivery. --- I hope he find his justice on the other side about Dominique. He, and she, deserves it!
August 29, 2009
The consummate gentleman, Dominick will be missed. Like many, I hung on his every word. He set the bar very high, not only professionally, but with the manner in which he dealt with and conquered the various issues in his incredible life. My prayers and thoughts are with his great family.

August 28, 2009
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I met Dominick at a book signing in Essex a few years ago. When he asked how I would like to have the book, Another City Not My Own, endorsed, I said,To Tom Burns from your cousin Dominick Dunne. He looked at me suspiciously and I told him we came from the same Burns gene pool. His grandfather Dominick F, Burns and my Great-Grandfather,John Burns were brothers. He indeed signed my book that way and it is a most treasured possession of mine. My deepest condolences to all the Dunne family at this time of great loss. My prayers are with you all. May the blessing of light be upon
you.

May the blessed sunlight shine on you.

And may the blessing of the rain be
upon you – the soft sweet rain.

May it fall upon your spirit so that the
little flowers may spring up and shed
their sweetness in the air.

And may the blessing of the great
rains be on you.

May they beat upon your spirit and
wash it fair and clean and leave there
many a shining pool where the blue
heaven shines reflected in sometimes
a star.

May the blessing of the earth be
upon you.

May the earth rest easy over you
when at last you lie out under it.

May it rest so lightly over you that
your soul may be quickly through it
and on its way to God.

Dear Dunne Family,

I have followed Mr. Dunne's life closely and have been inspired by his life and works. I went to Douglas Ranch Camp in Carmel Valley, California when I was a young girl, with Mr. Dunne's son, Griffin Dunne. I attended that camp for many years and Griffin and I became great friends; we communicated for a number of years after we stopped attending Douglas camp. I liked hearing Griffin talk about his father and his interesting life. We were also friends with Jimmy Stewart's daughter's, Kelly and Judy. They were also very kind to me and we all became great friends, bonded from childhood. I have felt sad over the years that we all lost contact with one another.

I hope you will accept my deep felt condolences. I lost my father recently and am still feeling quite like an orphan. I know that love and time can heal anything.

Most sincerely,

Jill Alexandra Schweizer

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

The Two Mrs. Greevilles, An Inconvient Woman. These are the first books I read by Mr. Dunn and became an instant fan. Mr. Dunn was an excellent biographer - unafraid to tell the truth or to keep his reader's entertained as well as informed. Mr. Dunn, while in Paradise, write a book so those of us that follow will have you story on what it was like to cross over and perhaps reunite with loved ones who preceded us.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

He will however, live on through the words he so brillantly wrote for all to enjoy.

I looked up to Dominick and always enjoyed his company and in being in his presence whether in Los Angeles or New York City.
I remember spending hours gossiping about our own lives and the really juicy ones of others from around the globe. We used to pretend to check to see if our table was being bugged.
Everybody who came into the lounge always wanted to know who I was when they saw me with him. Then when we prepared to leave it was like yelling shark!!!! I would step back as his fans were many.
I lost my cheerleader but he will reside with me in spirit. I look forward to seeing him on the other side.
Rest in peace my friend.Your "Drama Queen"

He was so good at narrating the story, that even if you didn't see it from the beginning, you were still able to follow the story. I miss watching him. I hope they play reruns. The entertainment Industry got hit hard this year, we lost so many Great People. I guess the Lord needed a lot of Angels, and the years not over yet. Our condolences to the Dunne family and friends. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dunne at his home in CT, when my husband and his boss did some carpentry work for him.My husband had to drop something off to him, and myself and our two young sons stayed in the car. The next thing I know, Mr. Dunne comes to the door, dressed in a flannel shirt and boots up to his knees, telling us to come in. He was wonderful to our sons and so gracious and humble. I could have sat and talked with him all day. A wonderful man.
His books and films were fantastic, I will miss his work, but will definitely buy his book coming out in December.

August 26, 2009
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dunne at the O.J. Simpson civil trial in Santa Monica, California in 1997. By happenstance, I was seated next to him in the courtroom during the closing arguments. He was brilliant, compassionate, endearing and not at all afraid to speak his mind and feelings, whether the cameras were rolling or not. I returned to my home in Chicago and became a Vanity Fair subscriber because of his honesty and prolific writing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. He was simply the best.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
August 26, 2009
I've read all of his books and loved reading his diary first whenever it was featured in Vanity Fair. He may have been star-struck, but that evaporated when it came to celebrity crimes. I know he never got over his daughter's death, and I always applauded him for standing up for victims. I will really miss his stories, and tv program.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time.

REST IN PEACE
August 26, 2009
To the family and friends of Dominick Dunne,

I was a great fan of Mr. Dunne's work and often wished I could have been sitting invisibly on his shoulder when he covered all of the court trials. He certainly lived a full life, doing what he enjoyed.

He and I shared the loss of a child to violence (mine was KIA in Afghanistan), and I recently felt a bond with him and allowed him to express my similar feelings of revenge and sadness.

Please accept my condolences and sorrow for the loss of this fine man.
