Hi Dustin, met up with your Mom, Dad and Grandpa this weekend in DC for Wreaths Across America. I wished we lived closer so I could just hang out with them more. Your Grandpa went with me looking for Travis Youngblood and I was able to put a Wreath there for him. Can you do me a favor and say hello to Travis, Collin Bowen, Nickelus Mueller and a dear friend that we lost in Vietnam, Cliff Swisher. Cliff was 20 when we lost him on Mar 22, 1969. I grew up across the street from him. I have your picture with me that your Grandpa gave me and I visited the Middle East Conflict Memorial in Marseilles IL where they have a display of you. I was so humbled to walk in and see you there. When I see everyone I will give them an extra big hug. God Bless you Dustin your one of my HEROS. Merry Christmas

Hi Dustin,

Been a week now and still thinking about the Trip of a life time your Mother, Father and myself had the Honor to take. The Worcester family has been taking Wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery this will be 20 years they have been doing it. Giving back to those that have given there lives so that we can have the Freedom we have today. From the Living Forest in Maine where the tips to make the Wreaths come from to the graves of our Men and Woman that serve this Country. Being just a small part of the Escort that takes us there. From the start at the border in Maine where the coustoms guard that came to take us over the bridge to exchange Wreaths with our Canadian freinds who's last name was Harris i knew that you and all your Buddies would be with us and make it a safe trip. Just so many sigh's along the way you left. The bond your Mother and Father had a chance to do with all the Gold Star Familes along the way was so special. Each day was a new happening the schools we stoped at and all the different people we got to meet along the way. Best of all the kids that came out to greet us waving the American Flag and singing USA USA. A trip we will never forget. As Chrismas and a new year comes up on us praying for better things to happen. WE Love and Miss You Dustin God Bless

Dear Dustin,
When I watch my belly move and anticipate the arrival of my baby in October, I'm reminded of the most important things in life. I'm reminded about what counts and how short life is for us. I think about those who have gone to Heaven and those who I wish Chloe could have met and known. I think of you, our friendship, and how much you are missed. I wish you could be here to meet my precious little miracle. Watch over us, Dustin. Miss you so much.
With Love,

HI Buddy,

What a weekend we just got done having we all done the Run For The Fallen again from Ogunquit to Portland. They done it in Km's this year about 40 miles so they would have more time to visit with Family and Freinds. So you and all our Fallen Hero's are always on our minds. Alot of Hero's Family and freinds came this year nice to get to meet them. Will put up a few pictures on your page. We had a Lobsterbake after and had a Suprise guest show up President Bush and his wife Laura he had pictures with all that wanted them. Nana Dylan and myself all had one taken with them. He told Nana that she reminded him of someone he knew his mother he was thinking about Nana asked about the Quilt she had made of 9-11 he told it would be in his library when that gets done. Also gave her a challenge coin. Just a good time to Remember all our Hero's. Your mother went to DC again this year and stayed with Vickie and kids and all went to the time of Remembrance for the Gold Star families. Went to 6 flags after on Satarday the kids had a great time. Sorry to say but Maj Arbogast is back in Iraq keep a eye on him ok. Jett growing like a weed getting a few love handles around the middle. Be back in school soon Dylan going back for one more year. Dustin the leaves are starting to turn so you know what that means but we had a great summer alot of hot weather. As always Think of You Always Love And Miss You So.

Dustin: although I have never had the honor in meeting you, it is if I know you. For you see, you live on in the hearts and stories of your family and friends. Through their love and stories of you, it is as if I know you and could never possibly forget you.

You clearly were a mighty man of valor, honor & integrity for such a young age. It is my loss for never getting the opportunity to shake your hand and thank you for all you were and all you did.

However, one day I will cross the great divide from this life to life eternity and when I do, I ask my God one thing: for the opportunity to meet you and all your brothers and sisters in arms.

Until then...you will live on in our hearts forever!

But we had fun being out in the woods with everyone Nana had a Moose come almost up to her and then went crazy danced around and kicked his legs fun to see.It has turned back to summer time in Maine 50 60 degrees not good for hunting but i will take it now until spring alright with me. Nana just got done doing 3 Comfort Quilts for 3 Hero's stationed out of Alaska and were killed in the same town you were She asked Sue if she could do them i had a patch made up in your Honor she put it on one of the squares. I was at a flag line with the PGR last week. I had given a Lady who's husband brings wreaths to Arlington every Dec your picture a year ago as they were going to Dc and she told me that your picture was right there when she opened her billfold so you see you will never be forgotten no matter what always someone thinking about you forsore. We had a great time. Meet alot of gold star families and so many nice people i'll put up some pictures. I know you was there with us all the time we had so many signs. The family at the table we sat at son was wounded on 4-6 too and later was killed in Iraq. Going to the Ceremony on Saturday by the Capital there was a car that had all kinds of pictures and letters on it and it had 2 pictures from the Run for the Fallen in Maine on it. At the end of the ceremony they march by with all the flags of each states and they stoped by where we were sitting your Mom told me to look up and there was the Alaskan flag right be side us looking down at us. Your Mom wanted to go to Walter Reed Army Medical Center so Matt pulled a few strings and we was able to go on sunday. Mom , Dad, Me and Maj Arbogast not knowing what we would be doing i thought we would be taken into like a rehab room and be able to talk to the Hero's. But when we got there the Liasion told us we would be going to meet 3 hero's and in the rooms of each one. It was so great to get the chance to meet these Warriors they were all so nice to us. They all had there family members with them too something i will never forget. The frist person your dad talked to a nurse last name was Harris and the second Hero's Doctor last name was Arbogast so i know you was there with us too Dustin things like this just don't happen there has to be a reason. Your Mom got a picture of Airforce One taking off in NY. Dylan doing ok the team has been winning about all there games. The leaves are at the best time right now so pretty but i know what will come next. Nana has a moose permit for next week so wish us luck Todd, Jett are coming up and hunt with us Jett has monday off. Nana's hand about back now but she still has a bit of vertigo always something. Dustin its been a while since I have written on here. I was just thinking of you today and wanted to tell you how much Dylan looks like you. I was looking at some pictures and there was a picture of Dylan and I had to look twice. Your Mom and Dad asked me to give out your scholorship this past June. I was honored to do it. I keep going back to the day that I found out that your were gone. Earlier that day your Dad had been in the store and had congratulated me on being pregnant w/ Libby. It was only a few hours later that he had to find out his first born was gone. I know you are in a better place and watching over all of us. I still think of you quite often and tell stories of that summer that we spent together.

April 20,2009 What a joy it was to spend Easter weekend with your awesome family in Maine. We had the pleasure of meeting your loving brother Dylan, and your grandpa Rodney for the first time. We met so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. There was so much love all around us, mixed with equal amounts of joy and sadness. Of course there were lots of tears, but lots of laughing as well. We loved sitting in your parents' special new room, which is such an amazing tribute to your life and accomplishments. Wherever we went we were followed by the precious Liberty. She didn't miss a beat; always right in the middle of the action. Your life continues to bless us; this time with the gift of allowing us to know so many wonderful members of your family. We will never forget the time we spent in Maine, and we are grateful for all the memories we will truly cheerish.

Hey Harris,
I am reminded of you almost everyday. I see the soldiers coming to the Airport, either on they're way or coming home for R&R. I even see some of the ones we served with. Just know, I still carry the hope you gave me, ya know "Good Soldiers" exist. I know you are watching over those who are back there, just know how much I appreciate it. My love, thoughts and prayers to your family. I ask that you continue to be with them, as I know you have been all along. Help them through the hard days Harris. I look forward to seeing you again and thanking you for not only doing what you did in this "life" but to thank you for what you continued to do in "the afterlife".

"As a mother of a "Fallen Soldier" it's so hard to accept that your loved one, your baby is gone. At times it's so hard to even breathe, our pride is immeasurable, and our grief is inconsolable. I must always remeber the reasones why you joined, what you beleived in, the courage it took you to leave your family and friends and travel to a foreign land to fight in WAR. I pray no other family might join our "ELITE" group, but what strikes me most is that we all are members joinedtogether because of our truly wonderful "ELITE" treasured loved one.

Dustin there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I was just talking about you the other day. I was talking about you and I working together after graduation for Lane construction. I was so happy to see you that first day of work. I was so nervous and was thinking "what did I get myself into". but when i drove in the yard I drove by you and you were back too and I did not recognize you. Then I parked my car and walked over to you and not really knowing who you were at the time because your face was covered with dirt. I got a little closer and heard your voice. My nervousness went away. I was so happy to work with you that summer and regret not keeping in touch after that. I am very proud of you and what you did accomplish in your short time with us. I have so many memories with you from growing up together and I will cherish them in my heart. Love Meg

Mrs. Helfen says Jett speaks of you often in school and she can tell you are very special to Jett. He's doing well in school working hard. It's hard to believe we are coming up to another winter, without you. Jett received his ski pass for the year. Jett wants to learn how to snowboard this year. You have always been in my thoughts. It is hard to believe that it has been two years. It feels like yesterday when SPC Hornsby came into my office sobing. You will always be in my heart. It was an honor to have served with you. You are the reason why I continue to serve today. Watch over us and continue to protect us. We love you and we will never forget.

Dear Dustin,
Two years have passed, and there isn't a day I don't think of you. Still remember the last time we spoke, just a few days before you went to Heaven. Miss you so much but know you're still with me. Love you always.

To the family and friends of Dustin.
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Dustin, but he is my hero.
Please contact me and I will email you back
a copy of the Angel drawing I have posted
here.

Dear Dustin,
Two years ago today was the worst day of our lives. Are you totally amazed at all the lives your life and death have touched? We are so proud of you--both for being the soldier you were and the nice young man you were. I hold you up as a role model to all my school children. We miss you. Love, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Kemp, Tellis, and Melissa.

At the rising of the sun and at its going down.
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind to the chill of winter.
We remember them.
At the opening of buds and to the rebirth of spring.
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and to the warmth of summer.
We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of autumn.
We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends.
We remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength.
We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart.
We remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share.
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live.
For they are now a part of us.
We remember them.
Rest in peace dear soldier.
We will never forget.

In Proud Memory of:
Spc. Dustin J. Harris

Its been two years since you left us.
Time goes by so quickly, but our memories of you
are strong and precious.
You were always full of hope and gave all your love.
You’re in God’s hands, but inside us
is where you live, in a special place.
When I need some cheering up,
I see your smiling face
and that beautiful smile you had.
You gave of yourself freely and willingly,
with a heart of gold,
you would help anyone in need.
We cherish every memory that you gave us.
Your life may have ended before your time.
The comfort we have today,
is knowing that you are free.
It’s hard to let go of what used to be.
You enriched our lives more than we can ever say.
When the time comes for us to see each other again,
we know you’ll be there waiting,
to show us the way-

Forever in our minds and hearts.
We miss you so much!
All our Love-

I think of all of you often. (Even though I mistake your boy's!) I only knew (I thought) Dustin. They are both so handsome. I pray for you often & only hope you are at peace with the thought that this was what he was here on earth for. Words can not express how I feel.

Father we entrust our brother Dustin to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Dustin in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

SPC HARRIS,
JUST KNOW YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! AS I READ WHAT YOUR LOVED ONES WRITE, THOSE WHO KNEW YOU THE BEST, MY HEART BREAKS FOR THEM. MY PRAYERS FOR THEM CONTINUE. I PRAY MAY THE LORD PROVIDE THEM THE STRENGTH THEY NEED TO GET THEM THROUGH EACH DAY WITHOUT YOU. I KNOW YOU WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH OVER THEM. AND JUST KNOW, YOU STILL GIVE ME HOPE, HOPE IN KNOWING SOLDIERS LIKE YOU WERE DO EXIST.
January 02, 2008
A Letter to Dustin

I thought it would not happen here on earth,
But I saw you again today.
So young and handsome and real
It took my breath away.

I watched you for a long, long time--
Did you feel me staring at you?
I noticed your military haircut,
Your wide-eyed gaze, and your straight back, too.

Your shoulders were strong and muscled,
And a chain around your neck was strung,
You smiled, you nodded, you quietly talked,
And I noticed you looked so young.

I almost greeted you,
I almost said your name aloud.
I wanted so badly to ask for a hug,
I wanted to tell you that you've made me proud.

ThenI realized my error,
And my heart broke again.
I realized I was looking at a boy,
But you had become a man.

A man with a mission,
A man who served his country well,
And paid a dear, dear price
When in the sand you fell.

I thought I was done with tears.
I thought enough time had passed.
But now I know without a doubt,
My love for you will forever last.

Love, Aunt Debbie

Happy New Year Dust,

Can't believe another year has come and gone and we have to walk through another day, week, month and year without you here physically with us. We all carry you near and dear in our hearts every minute of every day. Some days are just much harder than others to get through, but you always pull me through them and you know when I need you the most somehow and guide me through it all. Soon we'll be getting a puppy - can you believe that!? Her name is Liberty Dawn in honor of you and Dawn Marie.

I'm beginning to understand its a hard job being a Soldier, not just for you and your comrades but for mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sister & brothers scars of war can never truly heal any of us. Being a Soldier is very Noble and Brave but I know that's not why you loved being one. You loved it because of who you are and all of your Band of Brothers along side of you.

"WARS BEGIN WHERE YOU WILL BUT THEY DO NOT END WHERE YOU PLEASE"

Continue to guide and protect us all especially baby Jenovieve Faith Pangburn. I know you'll love her like we all do.

Always & Forever
Mom

Dustin,

THANK A SOLDIER

TODAY WE MOURN A SOLDIER
WHO STOOD BRAVE, PROUD AND TRUE
WHO GAVE HIS LIFE FOR MILLIONS
THAT HE NEVER KNEW
HE STOOD BESIDE THE OTHERS
STEADFAST THROUGH THE NIGHT
SO WE COULD SLEEP IN PEACE
UNTIL THE MORNING LIGHT.

SO WE CAN HAVE OUR FREEDOM
ALL ACROSS THE LAND
HE DID HIS JOB PROTECTING US
UNTIL GOD TOOK HIS HAND
WE SHED TEARS OF SORROW
FOR OUR LOSS IS GREAT
BUT THERE’S A SPECIAL PLACE FOR HEROES
BEYOND THE PEARLY GATE.

FOR THOSE WHO HEAR THE CALLING
OF THE RED, WHITE, AND THE BLUE
WHO DEFEND THAT WHICH WE STAND FOR
AND HELP OTHER COUNTRIES TOO
THEY ARE SENT ACROSS THE SEA
AWAY TO FOREIGN LANDS
AND SPEND THEIR DAYS AND NIGHTS
UPON THE DESERT SANDS.

THEY HAVE TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES, THEIR FAMILIES,
THEIR NIEGHBORS AND THEIR FRIENDS
WE MUST GIVE OUR THANKS TO THOSE, ON WHOM,
OUR WAY OF LIFE DEPENDS
SO WHEN YOU SEE A SOLDIER
STEP UP TO HIM AND SAY,
“I’D LIKE TO GIVE A HEARTFELT THANKS
AND TONIGHT, FOR YOU, I’LL PRAY.”

FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN
THEY PAY A HEAVY PRICE
AND SOME OF OUR DEAR SOLDIERS
THEIR LIVES THEY SACRIFICE
SO LET’S NEVER LET A CHANCE PASS BY
THAT WE CAN LET THEM KNOW
WHAT THEY DO DOES MATTER
WHEREVER THEY MAY GO.

TELL THEM THAT WE UNDERSTAND
WHAT THEY FACE IS REAL
AND THE BROKEN HEARTS WE HAVE TODAY
MAY BEGIN TO HEAL
SO HONOR OUR LOST SOLDIER
AND GO FORWARD IN HIS NAME,
HE DIED SERVING OUR COUNTRY
AND OUR LIVES WON’T BE THE SAME.

SO PLEASE THANK THE OTHER SOLDIERS
THE ONES FAR AWAY AND NEAR
IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW
IT’S JUST IMPORTANT THAT THEY HEAR
THAT WE ALL STAND BEHIND THEM
AS THEY SERVE THE USA
AND WE ASK THAT GOD WATCH OVER THEM
EACH AND EVERY DAY.

YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED
YOU HAVE A HERO FOR A SON
HE WAS A BROTHER TO BE PROUD OF
A FRIEND LIKE NO OTHER ONE
OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU
AND WE HOPE TO EASE YOUR SORROWS
AS WE STAND BESIDE YOU NOW AND
THROUGH ALL OF YOUR TOMORROWS.

MERRY CHRISTMAS DUSTIN!!! I'M SURE MAMIE AND YOU CELEBRATED TOGETHER AND LOOKED DOWN UPON EACH OF US TODAY.
I MISS AND LOVE YOU DEARLY.

LOVE,
MOM

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Dustin through all the times I tried to be tough and not shed a tear for your precious family and mine. Now to look back through all the times we had and all the stuff we went though is just comical. You were so excited to see my unborn boy, the boy that we "Your favorite married couple" have decided to mane in rememberance for YOU (of course nothing you ever would ahve wanted me to do). Now at 9 months old and crawling around the living room military style, seeing the way all the girls light up towards him, and just the way he knows he is the man, I am reminded of you.

Always thinking and loving you,

IT IS MEMORIAL DAY, I WISH TO THINK OF NOT ONLY SPC HARRIS, DUSTIN, BUT OF ALL OF THOSE WHOM I SERVED WITH, AND TO ALL THOSE OF WHOM LOST THEY'RE LIVES IN NOT ONLY THIS WAR, BUT THOSE PAST. FOR WHATEVER REASONS WARS ARE FOUGHT, I JUST KNOW THAT WE AS SOLDIERS DO WHAT WE MUST. FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE, I WILL NOT EVER FORET YOU. DUSTIN, YOU WERE CLOSE TO US, THE PLATOON, YOU WERE ONE LIKE I WILL CONTINUE TO SAY, GAVE ME HOPE OF WHAT SOLDIERS SHOULD BE, I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THE ARMY IS BLESSED WITH MORE LIKE YOU. YOU GAVE ME HOPE.......MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY TODAY, ESPECIALLY TODAY.....TO THEM, PLEASE KNOW HOW PROUD I WAS TO HAVE KNOWN YOUR SON, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR NEPHEW.......I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM.
May 25, 2007
When I picked up my 6 year old son, Camaron, from school yesterday the conversation that I had with him touched me greatly. We were talking about how he had a 4 day weekend and why. He replies to me "I have a 4 day weekend because it is Memorial Day and I will be thinking of Dustin." It caught me off guard for a moment because he never really got the chance to know Dustin. That moment of surprise was almost instantly replaced by a sense of ease because it made me realize why Dustin wanted to do what he did. He wanted to protect all of us even those he didn't know. It's an amazing thing when you can even touch the heart of a child who only met you a couple of times. I could only hope that my son grows up to be half the man Dustin turned out to be. You will be in our thoughts this Memorial Day. We love and miss you. Lorna, Scott, Dylan and the rest of the family, you will all be in our thoughts as well.
May 25, 2007
Scott, Lorna, Dylan,

My Prayers are for you and Dustin this Memorial Day Weekend and all our Sevice Men and Woman I will March in the Parade Monday in Patten in Honor of you. You are always on my Mind no matter what i do. Miss you so much. I know that someday we will meet again and i can give you a Big Hug. Rest In Peace Brave Hero Love You.

Happy 23rd Birthday Dust!
Today I could only think of how a Hero celebrates his birthday in Heaven. It must of been a grand one. We each miss you so much every day that passes. Some hurt as much as the first day we found out you had to leave us and others we just remember you and your stories. You made us laugh Dust. Jett speaks of you often and each day we know how much he loves and adores all the time he shared with you in his short six years. He definately keeps Dyl on his toes when he sees him now. I know you have touched his life forever and he couldn't have a better guardian angel watching over him. So here's to you Dust, Happy Birthday! God Bless and lots of love sent your way.

Happy Happy Birthday Baby,

Today your 23 and I can't believe we'll celebrate another birthday without you, how we all miss you so. I'm sure you will be looking down upon us as we remember you today. How I wish I could hold my beautiful blue eyed baby boy in my arms today or salute the brave soldier that you became. Dustin I am so proud of you and there's not a moment that goes by that I don't think of you.

Be sure to listen carefully for your "Little Buddy" Jett will surely be singing - "Hey Shorty it's your Birthday". You taught him well and he'll never forget.

Happy Birthday my Brave Hero!
Love, Mom

To my Hero Dustin,
It has been a year and a month now since you were lifted from this earth and each day I think back to that dreadful April day. You truely exemplify a hero, my hero. I wish I would have know you better, everything I hear makes me fell as if I did. I know your watching over everyone, God has a plan. It is so hard to understand that plan, why you, with all the joy and greatness I have heard that you bring to so many people lives. I wear your bracelet around my wrist each day, each day i am reminded of your greatness, your glory, and your absolute heroism. Your family is great, I hade the awesome pleasure to meet them in alaska when we returned. Even though I didnt really know you, i miss you like crazy, i wish i could have saved you, so many people were by your side, rooting for you and fighting for you. See you some day in Heaven! It was a great honor to have served with you! Rest in Peace
Scott, Lorna, and Dylan,
Words cant even express how I feel, your son was and still is truly amazing. Everyday I think of him and someone always asks about the bracelets I wear, I say what a great soldier he was and the great sacrifices he made to our country, and for the soldiers on that convoy. It was so great to meet you earlier this winter, and I hope that it was an enjoyable trip if only the circumstances were better. Your raised an amazing son! Thank you!
All my prayers,
'Doc'

It has been a year. We think of your parents often, and understand how difficult it has had to be for them. Your grandmother has now joined you. Take care of her and give her a big hug from us.

No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you.

YOUR SON IS A HERO! I heard about what he did on that fateful day, April 06, 2006, from Josh. His selflessness and concern for the safety of his Comrades--saved their lives. WHAT HONOR AND COURAGE YOUR SON WAS FILLED WITH!

My son is a Navy Medic and served with the the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade out of Camp Lejeune, N.C. in 2003.
(TASK FORCE TARAWA)

His Battalion was heavily attacked when it went into Nasiriyah, March 23, 2003. Eighteen men in his Battalion were killed on that fateful day, and many more were wounded.
(He was redeployed in Jan. 2005-Sept. 2005.)

Not one day goes by that I do not think of ALL our young HEROES!

God Bless and Keep You In The Palm Of His Hand...

I FOUND OUT ABOUT DUSTIN IN ANOTHER GUEST BOOK. MY SON-IN-LAW WAS KILLED IN IRAQ IN JANUARY 2007. NICK WAS IN 2/7 CAV. I AM GOING THROUGH AND SIGNING EVERY GUEST BOOK OF FALLEN SOLDIERS FOR 1ST CAV DIVISION AS I CAN. WHEN I HEAR OF OTHERS I VISIT THEIR BOOKS ALSO. DUSTIN'S PARENTS HAD SIGNED A BOOK I WAS READING. I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I PRAY FOR YOU AND CRY WITH YOU. JESUS WEPT. THE SHORTEST VERSE IN THE BIBLE DIDN'T HAVE MUCH MEANING FOR ME UNTIL NICK DIED. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN CRYING QUITE A BIT. IT IS GOOD TO LET IT OUT BUT IS STILL VERY HARD TO PUT UP WITH. GOD PROMISED US A TRIP TO HEAVEN BUT DIDN'T PROMISE US AN EASY TRIP. THANK YOU FOR RAISING A SON WHO WANTED TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY AND PROTECT ME AND MINE ALSO. HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. THANK YOU,

SPC HARRIS, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

It hurts my heart to know a man loved as much as Harris had to leave us this way. I never really got to know him well but thru his family Ihave learned that he was loved and thought of highly and may not be here in the flesh, but his spirit lives on! I will always keep the Harris Family in my heart and in my prayers, you have turned out to be my extended family that me and my daughter have grown to love!! God Bless!!

"Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain
I am the gentle Autumn's rain
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die."

Thank you Dustin, for the ultimate sacrifice
May you rest in peace in God's arms

Dustin,
I can't beleive its been a year since I seen you last. I think about you everyday and can't begin to express my gratitude for your sacrifice. I was lucky to be one who knew you well and worked with you everyday back in Alaska and in Iraq. I am proud to be able to say I knew you and fought by your side. I will keep you in my heart until we meet again, you will always be part of me legacy.
April 08, 2007
Dustin,
A full year has now passed since the day you left us. I am proud to have known you and it was an honor to defend our Nation alongside you. You have changed me in so many ways and not one day has passed that I don't pray for you, your family, and all those you have left behind. It eases my mind to know that you are now in that special place that God has established for our most special Warriors. Meeting your family this year was a great honor and I look forward to spending time with them again soon. Just as you did, they have impressed me with their irrefutable honor and character. Thank you for all you have done Dustin - you will forever be missed.
April 07, 2007
Thursday afternoon, I shoveled off my car. As I stood there, exhausted and cold, my heart dropped as I saw that the snow had removed parts of the sticker that bore your name on my rear window.

Time can be like that snow. It tears away pieces of things. But as I wiped my eyes and put my glasses back on, I could still see the outline of the missing letters on my window, and it reminded me that while the actual, tangible thing was gone, the memory of it -- the echo of it -- still remains. The same is true of you, Dustin.

Time took you from us, but we are fortunate to have that memory of you to keep us whole and remind us of what was there to begin with.

You are dearly missed, but we are indescribably proud of what you have done for our country and what you sacrificed. You will never be forgotten.
April 07, 2007
Dear Dustin,
I remember that Thursday afternoon that your father called me at school to tell me you were gone like it was yesterday. It still tears my heart out every time I think of losing you. We go on with our lives, but they will never be the same again. I wish I could just hug you one more time. You were a great nephew and a great soldier. Uncle Kemp and I will always honor your memory. Love, Aunt Debbie
April 07, 2007
I can't believe it has been a year since your heroic exit. When I saw the flags adorning our town yesterday, I got chills and tears the same as I did a year ago. Just another reminder of what is being sacrificed on the behalf of all Americans. Not to mention what a brave young man from Patten, ME did for his country. I didn't know you as well as I would have liked Dustin, but I watched you grow up along with my own son, and I know what a scarifice your own parents have made. The day God took you home brought cold hard reality for many. He took one of our own, and you then belonged to all of us. Thank you for that ultimate sacrifice, you have made your mark on the world!

Your sacrefice for freedom is in all our hearts always.Your memory will forever stay with us. Sometimes Gods angels wear camoflage and you are truly one of those. Our love and prayers are with your family for we know that it is a sad and painful time for them. God bless your family.
April 06, 2007
Today, Good Friday, the red, white and blue of our nation's flags are vibrantly displayed against a backdrop of new-fallen snow. They are proudly flying once again in Sherman in remembrance, respect, and recognition of the sacrifices made by SPC Dustin Harris and his entire family. May God continue to keep His arms wrapped around you in His constant love.

Respectfully,

Dear Dustin,
It has been a very sad, but wonderful tribute to your life to read your guest book. It still doesn't seem real to me that you are gone from us on earth. I love that I have so many silly memories of you to share with me kids, and it certainly has helped me to explain heaven to Jon many times. He looks at your pictures a lot an he says " Dustin with God, Dustin in Heaven" and I know that you are. What a great feeling to be so sure. I look forward to our next hug, you always gave the best hugs even if your mom didn't remind you!!! Thanks so much for protecting our country to keep my children safe. I know you would have enjoyed them so much. They are full of smiles and lots of silly giggles. They will grow up knowing how special you were to our family. Miss you more than all the miles that seperate us. Much love,
Jaime

To the family and friends of Dustin Harris,

As we all look back in our own special way, we all ask ourselves why? When I walk in the Battalion Headquarters, I see a young mans picture (Dustin’s) that reminds me of the sacrifices that are made for our Freedoms. We thank the family for allowing us the opportunity to serve with there son. We were grateful for the opportunity to meet Dustin’s Parents and Grandparents when you came to Alaska. The 172nd BSB, Opahey’s or the DC Gators will never allow your legacy to be forgotten. “Our Fallen Comrades will never be forgotten”

April 06, 2007
Dustin,It seems like yesterday that we moved you and Ashlee into the Husson Avenue apartment. I'll never forget the time that I brought Maria to see the apartment. Rather than meeting Maria, Bohonk jumped off the balcony. The expression on your face was priceless when we asked where he was. I crack up everytime I think of that. I want to thank you for all that you done for Ashlee. I know that you two were close. We all miss you so very much. We think of you often.
April 06, 2007
Dear Dustin,
I wish I would have taken the time one day at the apartment so you and I could have had a game of whatever it was you wanted to "whip" me at on the computer. I wish that I would have told you more often than I did how thankful I was for everything you did for Ashlee. You were so well mannered and had such empathy for people that were well beyond your years. I hope you will still watch over Ashlee as she is an endless project!!! See you on the other side.
Missing you, Maria Martin

Dust,
It's been a long, hard year without ya. With each day's passing I miss ya even more. Sometimes, I see your face and hear your voice in my dreams. You tell me you're okay, and that everything will be okay. Just those few moments brings me at peace.
Even though you're with the Lord, I know you're still with me and all those you loved. I'll always miss and love ya. May you rest peacefully, my Guardian Angel.
Love,
Ash

I can only imagine in my mind the beauty you must see up there, the happiness you must be feeling inside, being in Gods presence. I love you Dustin and i look forward to the day that all of your family and your gator family will see each other in heaven. Until that day my friend.
April 06, 2007
Dustin,

Exactly a year ago almost to the minute I found out you were gone. I've never felt such confusion, panic, and disbelief in my life. I feel those feelings all over again every time I think of you. Once the shock wears off though I see your smile and know you are happy. When Gram passed I knew you were together again and felt instantly at ease. Its such an overwhelming feeling of comfort to know that you are together again! Take care of each other up there! You are always in our thoughts.

Love you forever
Melissa

Dustin Good Friday Morning you are not alone, Jesus also gave his life for Mankind. The healing of our community that came from your sacrifice is over whelming, much like the healing that came from Jesus's sacrifice. Miss you every day, more so since Mamie has gone to be with you.

Dustin,

It's been a year since you've left us and started your new journey. I feel very honored to be apart of your family. I have been able to see you grow as a child, to a young man, and now the bravest hero I shall ever know. Every day we remind your little buddy how much you love him and you are watching over him. I just wish I could hear you falling up the stairs one more time at home. You have done what God had planned for you here on earth giving us freedom, strength and love. You now have a lifetime of watching over each one of us and watching your little buddy grow to be a wonderful young man just like you.

I love you and miss you always,

Aunt Michelle

Dust
It been a long hard year Dust. I often think how it could be possible that I have the Honor to call you my nephew. I can still remember the night you were born, and on a recent snowsled trip this winter with Dylan we were riding on a trail and for some reason I slowed down and looked at a camp on the side of a lake and suddenly thought of you. It was the camp I was in the very second your were born. Hadn't seen that camp since that night but I remembered it like it was yesterday. Words can not express the Pride I have for YOU! You were {NO YOU ARE} the true meaning of Army Soldier and It's way beyond Army Strong! So even though you are my Nephew when I look at your picture or everytime I think of you I see and remember a young man who became in my eyes the best America Could Ever Ask For From a Soldier!!!!

KNOW THE BOOTS YOU WEAR HAVE BEEN WORN BY MANY. BUT ONLY A SELECT
FEW FILLED THEM LIKE YOU!

Words can not say how we feel today. It has been a year since Dustin has been gone. I'll never forget how he turned into a man so fast after he joined the Army. He was a great Grandson and is dearly missed. I start everyday out side of my house with a salute to the Flag I put up in Dustin's Memory. He will always be in Nana's and mine hearts. Like the Flowers in the spring our Love for you will forever Bloom.

April 06, 2007
Dustin,
It is hard to believe a year has gone by already. I remember the confidence and sense of relief I used to feel when I knew you were up front. I knew when you were with us we were better off now you continue to protect us from above. I had the great privlidge of meeting your family and spending a couple of days in Fairbanks with them. They are a great family and it is easy to see where your character, morals, and patriotism comes from. You will be forever in my thoughts and prayers.

Scott, Lorna, Dylan, Sandra, and Jim
On this day of remembrance I want to thank you again for Dustin and the tremendous person he was. I appreciate the son you raised, the brother you loved, and a grandson to be proud of.

Dustin,
"You never said I'm leaving,
You never said Goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.
A million times I needed you;
A million times I cried.
If LOVE alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly;
In death I love you still;
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one else can fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home."

My Mighty Paratrooper how you have guided me and given me strength to get up each day and carry on without you. I have never known such pain. I'm so grateful for all the "signs" you've shown us all throughout this 1st year, don't ever stop showing us the way because it carries each of us day to day. Soar high my Mighty Paratrooper Soar High!! I Love You! Mom
April 05, 2007
One year has passed and I still remember standing there with you laughing at the foreigners vehicles that we escorted on that mission. Harrio you have made such a great impact on my life, I know that I am a better leader because of you! I am currently on my way back to Iraq and every Soldier that goes with me has to live up to your standard of excellence! I miss you, and the tears sometimes will not stop flowing from my eyes. You are so loved and so admired!

April 05, 2007
Scott, Lorna, and Dylan,
Words escape the feelings that I have right now. It has been a long year, and time has healed so much, but there is still much of my heart and mind left aching. Getting to know you all has helped in so many ways, and your friendship has been a blessing. Dustin was truly an amazing man, and now that I have met your family, I fully understand why. Dustin lives in my heart and my thoughts, and his flame burns brighter than ever. Today I honor my paratrooper brother, and I honor your family.
April 05, 2007
Lorna, Scott, and Dylan; Sandra and Jim,

Dustin's photograph is displayed in our home along with the rest of our immediate family, because we want to keep him in our lives and in our hearts. We know that Dustin left so many precious gifts and memories for so many, but for our family his biggest gift was affording us the privledge of getting to know each of you. May you continue to heal, and live in peace, and know that your mighty paratrooper will always be a part of all of our lives.

Dustin
Thank you for your courage in serving our Country. Everyone appreciates your bravery, even the littlest of people. I was driving through Patten with my four year old niece who pointed out the flags, she proceeded to tell me the flags were flying because a soldier died in the war and that he was brave. My heart sank. We are proud of you. Thank You for serving our Country and God Bless.

Scott, Lorna, & Dylan
Our thoughts and prayers are with you every day. We know that Dustin is looking down from Heaven and watching over you. Cherish all the great memories and live each day like he would want you to. We love you!

Dustin,
We just want you to know how proud we are to be your aunt and uncle. Looking through your pictures, we can see and have watched you grow from a baby, a little boy, a teenager, and into the man you became. The man who was willing to serve our country with honor and courage. Time may ease our heavy hearts and fewer tears may be shed, but we will remember you always with love and pride for the nephew who made such a sacrifice for freedom. May that sacrifice not be in vain.
Love you forever,
Aunt Lynn and Uncle Duke

Thank you to everyone for their prayers and words of sympathy. We are blessed to live in a caring community with people who know our pain and are so giving of themselves to help our family during this difficult time.
April 29, 2006
I would like to say thank-you to everyone who has been there for the family through our loss. Thank-you Dustin for serving our country. You are a great friend and cousin to me. We will never forget you.
April 29, 2006
Dustin,

I don't know where to begin. I miss you Dustin. I miss you alot! Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and and times that we spent together. We shared the good as times as well as a few of the bad. During High School and even after we graduated, harldly a week went by that we weren't together. You were always there with a smile and laugh. Whenever we were together your sense of humor kept a smile on my face. You weren't scared of anything. I remember the night you asked me about sacrifice and if I would would be willing to give up my life if I could save the whole world. I remember your unflinching answer. You said simply, "I would". I am reminded of a verse, "No greater love hath any man that this, that he lay down his life for his friends". This describes your perfectly Dustin. I always considered you my closest friend, and always will. I was so proud to stand beside you that Saturday. I will always hold your memory close and can't wait until the day that we meet again in Heaven. Rest in Peace my friend.

Scott, Lorna, Dylan and Family,

I thank you so much for allowing me in as part of the family. I always enjoyed visiting with Dustin and you folks. You raised a wonderful son. As hard as this loss is we must remember that it is the sacrifices of people like Dustin that have kept this country safe. Dustin will always be remembered as a true American Hero and Patriot. He found within himself a courage not many wish to find. You folks are in our prayers each and every day. The comfort and support of friends and family along with your faith will help you through these tough times. I am confident Dustin will be watching over you from Heavan as your Guardian Angel.

Love,
Nate H

It is so hard to put into words how we felt when we heard the news that Dustin had died in Iraq, more concerned with the safety of others than of himself. We have shed many tears the past couple of weeks, but along with the sorrow is a deep sense of pride in Dustin. We knew him as our son's best friend but we are learning more about him since his death than we knew before and we are very proud that we had the privilege of knowing him and of the friendship he and our son had. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dustin's family. Their strength and faith has been an encouragement to us. We can all take comfort in knowing that Dustin is safe in the arms of the Lord. He served well.

Scott, Lorna, and Dylan
I know that no words could begin to take away the sorrow that you feel, but I want you to know that I think about you often, and in many ways, you guys have touched my life. Its not often that you come across people such as yourselves, and its not often that you come across a better man than Dustin. You guys raised a great son and a great soldier with numerous great qualities, too many to count. I will never forget all the memories, all the moments, and all the laughter I shared with Dustin. And, most importantly, I want you to know that I love you all and I am so very proud of your son. He was fearless, and even though he gave his all, he did it for you.
As for you Dustin, there were many things left unsaid between us, but I want you to know that I love you. You were one of the strongest individuals that I know, and I cannot wait til the day in which we get to meet again. God must be proud to have such a great soldier serving in his Army, I know I am. (Don't let your head get any bigger!) I miss you Kev, and to set the record straight, you won the bet. I love you Bud!
Love Always,
Nate

Lorna, Scott and Dylan,
We will always cherish all the times that Dustin was part of our family activities; He was always ready with a joke, story and that gorgeous smile! We miss you, Dust. We love you and Thank you for your devotion to our country and your ultimate sacrifice. You will never be far from our thoughts and will remain in our hearts forever. God Bless you, oxoxo Gretchen, Everett, Kasi and Trey

Dustin, you are the bravest person that I have ever had the honor to know. You gave the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety of family, friends, and strangers alike. I have known you since you were born and oh, what a hansome man you grew up to be. I know that know words can express that sadness that your family and friends are feeling, but there is almost a calming knowing that you were doing what you loved. So many people live there entire lives never achieving what you have. To lorna, Scott, and Dylan, I know that your hearts are heavy, but always remember that so very few people can say that "My son, my brother is a true HERO." He will always be in our hearts and what he did for us will never be forgotten. We love you all very much and you are in our thoughts prays.

Scott, Lorna, & Dylan:

As a long time friend of the family, I find it extremely difficult to believe this tragedy has occurred. Scott and Lorna, my heart aches for you as parents and Dylan as a brother. I pray that faith, hope, and love will guide you through this difficult time. God presents us with many obstacles during our journey in life that we most often do not understand and may never until we are reunited and meet our creator face to face. Until then, be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God and Dustin will be with you wherever you go. May we all feel happiness knowing that Dustin is standing proud, just as he did here on earth, guarding the gates of heaven now and forever. Love and God Bless.
April 23, 2006
We were so priviledged to know Gram and Grampie Troutt and Mom and Dad before you were born Dustin. I watched your parents love you and raise you with nothing but love and devotion and because of it, you were the wonderful person that you were. It doesn't seem fair that God should take you away from us so soon but I guess he needed another angel to watch out over the rest of us down here. Our hearts are so heavy now and there are still so many tears for you. However, we all share precious memories of the beautiful little boy and young man that always tried his best and only wanted to serve others. We will never forget you and pray that someday we will smile again when we hear your name instead of feeling this great loss and broken heart. May you rest in peace, Dustin, and we want you to know you will always be loved by the Dyers and thank you for being the wonderful person you were. May each of us learn the lesson of love from you and live for each day and never get upset by the small stuff that interferes with our lives so often.
Scott, Lorna and Dylan,
We love you all and pray that the wonderful memories that you hold of your sweet boy will help heal your hearts. You are right, he made us proud. God bless you all and God bless America.
Love you,
Pat and Bob

To the Harris Family,

First and foremost my deepest sympathies...your son was one of the hardest working soldiers I had seen in a long time....if it had to be done he was on it....I wasnt in his platoon, but everytime i seen him he was never without a smile or accomplishing a mission...he was taken from us too soon...From my interaction with him I just want to let you know he was a fine young man...and a A+ soldier. Rest in Peace SPC Harris

SPC Harris was one of the members of my squad and will be greatly missed. We worked together every day, and I am honored to have known such a dedicated young soldier. He is a hero in all our eyes, and will never be forgotten. I wish I could say something to make this time easier for you, but I can say that Dustin is loved and will be missed deeply. He will remain in my heart forever. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

The loss of Dustin just doesn't seem possible. I will always remember that adorable little boy that loved the blueberry desert baby food, and that I used to give rides in a red wagon. I am very sorry that you didn't get to meet your little cousin Tyler. He's quite a boy.
Scott, Lorna, and Dylan, Our hearts, prayers, and love go out to you.
Dustin, we all love you and will miss you,

To all of you who mourn this tragic loss,
I served with Spc Harris in Mosul. While I am currently in Alaska for R&R I cannot help but to be back in Mosul mentally. I knew Dustin, I appreciated his motivation, and his sincere dedication he had for the Army. He was in a Squad of great people and they all shared a wonderful bond. I am not sure if there are words to say or write to provide comfort. My heart aches each time his name is mentioned and I have to swallow the knot that builds up in my throat. I know in time all will be ok, I have my faith. I am allowed to mourn my fellow commorade. For his Family: You have my deepest heartfelt sympathy, I cannot begin to imagine the pain you must be feeling. I felt the need to share with you the Spc Harris I knew and to THANK YOU, for if it wasn't for you, I would have never had the pleasure of knowing such a fine young man, dedicated and motivated, we were all blessed knowing him. I look at his picture and think of him, the good times, the humor he had. He was always one way, you never caught him in a bad mood or other, he was always very pleasant and upbeat. Please know how much this man was not only respected but loved. As soldiers in his Platoon, and in his Squad, we will never forget this soldier because of him, we were better soldiers.
April 17, 2006
To the Harris family. I would like to express my deepest sorrow for you loss, for our loss. I was with SPC Harris from the time we arrived at FT. Wainwright AK. together, to the time we were driving down that road near Bayji Iraq. I just would like you to know that he had the best care we could give him at the seen. We tried so very hard to bring you son back to you. He will be with me now and for ever. If you have any unanswered questions please do not hesitate to e-mail me and ask. To Dustin’s Mom, Dad, and Brother,

I would like to express my deepest condolences to your family, my wife and I attended the memorial services on Saturday and was moved by the caring and powerful eulogies’ that were presented. As sad as they were, they were a great tribute to Dustin and to what a great young man he was, your family must have been very proud.

I was Dustin technology instructor at Eastern Maine Community College and can certainly testify to what a caring, polite, and respectful young man he was.

I would have liked to have met all of you, but there were so many people waiting to pay their respect that I thought that I would wait and hopefully get to meet when things are less hectic for you and your family. In the mean time I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

REV 14 vs 13 : Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on."
"Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."

To those of you I loved so much,
please smile with thoughts of me-
for I am resting at the foot of God,
Theres no place I'd rather be.

Here there's no more fighting-
no sand, no bombs no fear.
there are angels singing all the time,
they sang when I got here!

The gates are made of solid pearl,
the street is purest gold-
I feel an overwhelming love
and no one here is old.

Yes, I have seen Jesus--
His beauty I can't describe
he smiled and held me in his arms
the day that I arrived.

He placed me in charge of our mansion--
its awesome, just wait and see!
I can't wait to show it to you all
when you come here to live with me.

But until that day, just have the peace
of knowing that I am here
and keep my memory alive and well
with a memory or tear.

Thank you for your honor,
You know I loved you so-
I fought and died because of it
I wasn't scared to go.

Better friends and family
there could never be
I fought hard, and stared fear in the face
to make you proud of me.

So with stories and memories
please carry on
search in your hearts
I will never be "gone"

Written in loving Memory of Spc. Dustin James Harris
So proud of you!!!

See you soon my courageous friend!!!
Love you.

Our sympathy is with you as you go thru this dark time. Words can not ease the pain. Just know that the whole communtiy is with you in your sorrow as we mourn the loss of our hero, your son. I know he is in God's arms now, watching over you. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

The war has finally hit home. My heart aches for the family. Going to Patten with all the flags flying it is so emotional. Never knowing Dustin personaly, but only knowing his parents, I can not imagine the sorrow they are feeling. My prayers and thoughts are with you always. Saturday we all say goodby and will stand there with you in your sorrow, but Dustin will never be forgotten. A true hero in my mind
April 13, 2006
My heart aches for you all. I can only imagine all the different emotions you feel from one moment to the next.. Grief, disbelief, anger, shock, gut renching pain, PRIDE..Im sure when you had your baby boy 21 years ago, you never fathomed him, losing his life in a war, defending our country.
I didn't even know Dustin personally, and I feel much grief. The stresses of everyday life seems so mundane after the tragic news of your fallen hero.
May you find comfort in the arms of your friends and family as you mourn and share your private, individual stories, and know after the caos is over, and your son is layed to rest, Dustin OR his COURAGE, will never be forgotten. He hasn't only made our small hometown proud~He has made our whole nation proud!
"May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived"
April 13, 2006
We have become immune to the names of the fallen soldiers until it hits close to home. When I read the paper today to discover who this young man was, I was shocked and felt pain in my heart for the family. From all that I've read Dustin was everything we'd want in a son, grandson, husband or father. He truly represented all that it means to be a good American. My deepest sympathy to all his family and loved ones.
April 13, 2006
My heartfelt sympathy to the Harris family in the loss of Dustin. I did not know Dustin, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Dustin you are a hero and you will never be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.
Love and Peace

It is hard to come up with the right words to say so I will be short. Thank you everyone for your outstanding support. I can't even explain the pride that I feel for my cousin. Dustin I love you so much and will miss you greatly. Thank you for your sacrifice and for following your heart and doing what you loved.
April 12, 2006
Thank you, Dustin, for your courage and honor serving our country, making it a lot safer, and helping Iraq become a free land. May god wrap you in his arms.
April 12, 2006
We are so proud of our nephew. He loved everything military. He would call home to all his family every time he advanced in his training. He especially loved parachute jumping. We are now going to say our prayers for the other men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, especially those in Dustin's platoon. We will be saying our goodbyes this Saturday, April 15, but our memories will be kept alive and handed down to generations to come. He certainly deserves the respect and admiration he is now getting from our community, from our state, and all over the United States. We love you, Dustin. Aunt Debbie and Uncle Kemp, Patten

Words fail me. It is the support of people like you, reaching out to a grieving family with your words of support, courage and love that helps keep me going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
April 12, 2006
I would like to send me deepest sympathy to the family of SPC Dustin Harris. My husband has served with him in Iraq, and is too, mourning the lose of one of his squad members. I know that there are no words to discribe the pain you are feeling, but I do want to tell you that I know Dustin was a great soldier, a hard worker, and most of all a great young man. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. May these rainy days turn to sunshine with all the great memories of a fallen Hero.
April 11, 2006
Dear Family,
God will never allow us to endure more than we can handle. This I know to be true. However, you may question this from Dustin's death until your own departure from this world. Keep his presence close and dont ever forget the memories for someday we all will be together.

To My family
Do Believe I'll Never Leave You:
Always I'll be in your heart.
Don't forget my soul is near you:
Death might take my preasence from you, Yet we'll never be apart
April 11, 2006
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

If he can stand in battle to ensure our freedom,
We can stand in grief with his family to honor him……

In Remembrance of Spc. Dustin J. Harris,

To the Harris Family, our sincerest and heartfelt condolences are extended to you for the loss you have endured. We pray that in time grief will turn to pride and the pain of loss will be replaced with peace in knowing your loved one is in the hands of the Lord.

For every fallen hero, there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us that freedom is a cherished gift and it is not without sacrifice.

May you take comfort in knowing that many families across this great nation grieve with you in your time of sadness.

Our prayers are with you for peace and healing.

Sincerely,

Blue Star Mothers of New Hampshire

First, thank you for your words. We are deeply saddened by our loss and you are right, no words can describe how we, his family are feeling. Sorrow beyond what we knew possible and yet at the same time we are proud of our soldier. Your words are appreciated...

To the family of Spc. Dustin J. Harris,
I send you my heartful sympathies on the loss of your fallen hero. I, too, lost my hero, 2Lt Matt Coutu on 27 June 05. Matt went to UMaine so there is a double connection. The road is long ahead. I wish you strength and courage during this most difficult time. You now have your own guardian angel. Our sons are and always will be in our hearts. God bless you. Feel free to contact me if you need someone to talk to.

To the Family of Spc. Dustin J. Harris:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. I lost my stepson son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
