My mother,Lessie Pearl Hart, went to school with Eddie Arnold and sing in the church choir with him. When Eddie went to Lake Tahoe to perform my mom and dad and
myself went to see him several
times.They were life long friends.
My mother will be 96 in April and it doesn't appear she will make it to her 96th birthday as she is dying of congestive heart failure.
We cherished our time with him as he would tell the press "Go away I am talking to my childhood schoolmate
and country friends".
My mother told me the name of the school they went to but
I told him, I thought she was pulling my leg.Eddie said oh! The old Possum Trot School that was the name.DUH....

Great singer my dad really enjoyed his music rip mr Arnold
December 20, 2014
I loved Eddy Arnold`s singing & so did my Ma. My Dad was born & raised outside of Trezevant. Tennessee near Hollyleaf. There is a road just West of there a piece named "Eddy Arnold". Figured it was named for his family way back when, as were other Roads named after the family who lived on it. My Dad, Wilbur Raymond Long, his Mom, my GrandMom was Flossie L Crocker & my Grandpa was Floyd F Long. My Mom, Genevieve E Grahll Long & my Dad both passed in 2013, my Mom on 03 March & my Dad 20 June. It seems Love is so strong, like the Arnold`s & couldn`t go on without....I love Trezevant, Tennessee & am & will remain a Tennesseean into Eternity. My Mom & I both had Eddy`s Greatest Hits Album, which I sometimes sing when I am out walking in the Woods....Oh yeah, my Mom said she thought Eddy Arnold looked like the Longs & he sure did! There are certain singer artists whose voices remain Timeless & this one certainly is....

I just read about his death, we share your sorrow. One passage from the bible that gives all hope is found in 1 Co 15:20 from the Living Bible translation it says: Christ did actually rise from the dead, and has become the first of millions who will come back to live again someday.
I hope this will help.

Hello I am trying to find someone that might know something about an old guitar that has the name Eddie Arnold etched into the pickguard(looks like one of those small etching pens was used). The guitar is a Vox, acoustic. probably about 1960. The guitar came in a case signed by someone named L.z.Short. I love this guitar, and like to think it might have once belonged to the late singer. I apologize for using this site for this, but thought someone may know something about it. The etching looks exactly like pictures of his signature I have seen online. any help would be appreciated. Thank you, again. p.s. Cattle Call, best country song ever.

Eddy Arnold was simply incomparable. I was privileged to see him in Las Vegas almost 35 years ago. He took my breath away with his beautiful voice, his down home humor, and his humble demeanor. He will always be in my heart.

For Eddy...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

When I was growing up my mom and dad played Eddy Arnolds music all the time. I grew to love his music and he was one of my very favorites. His voice was so beautiful. I'll never forget you Eddy. Now you can sing with the angels.
February 23, 2010
I loved listening to his many songs. I loved his soft & intense voice. He was quite a handsome man, too.
I don't remember hearing bad things about him. He kept his private life-very private,
The song ,"Make The World Go Away" touched my heart at a very young age. The words calmed me & gave me ideas of writing my words in a poetry compostion style.
May his family have peace & confort as they endure his missing presence.
The music industry people, & his many fans, will miss him a lot. I will miss listening to his mellow voice. I shall look into buying his albums/songs.

Resurrection Promise

Do not cry as your loved ones pass,

God has promised it will not last,

The time is coming with all things new,

And your loved ones brought back to you,

Revelation 21: verses three and four,

States that death and sorrow will be no more,

Remember Jesus said his friend was asleep,

We will be called back to be his sheep,

Yes it hurts to lose someone,

But soon every bad thing will be undone,

Trust in Jehovah with all your heart,

He’s been with us from the start,

So as we go on in this old life,

Remember he will rid us of this pain and strife,

Take his hand and see his power,

When he brings his judgment hour,

Those in the memorials tombs will come out,

We will all be happy and able to shout,

Look what God has went and done,

He's brought back Mothers, Fathers, Daughters and Sons.

Thank you Eddy for sharing your wonderful voice and songs with the world. We will miss you. God bless your family.
May 13, 2008
Eddy Arnold is a solitary rider on the range of love. With a country boy's naivete and a quiet sophistication, he sings of the good things in life...God, country, wife, sweetheart, children and his love for his fellow man. He reaches out to touch the hand but ties up the heart, almost as if he had used a lariat. For twenty years, as a fan and close friend, I have borne the mark of Eddy Arnold's branding Iron. - written in 1975

I loved Eddy Arnold's wonderful mellow voice and songs. My own father had a voice something like his. many of my fondest memories are of listening to his music and our dad doing the harmony. I admired the good man he seemed to be. I still listen to his music often. He made my life richer. We send our prayers and may god bless you as you mourn your loved one.

I send my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Arnold. As the oldest of 4 kids that quickly grew into 6. I am deeply saddened by the loss of both your mother and father. What sweet sweet memorie we all have of my parents teaching us to dance listening to Mr. Arnold's music as we stood on their feet, and later on as we grew up teaching our parents how to dance to the same music. After your dad meets JESUS and finds your mom knowing they are all whole healed and completely free of burdens and the pain of this world join in a mighty chorus of praise that will thunder across the Heavens. Your father's music spanned decades and he has left us a legacy of his beautiful music to enjoy and listen to til its my turn to complete my journey on this earth and my eternity begins! Your father brought so much joy to others in his music and for this we all will be constantly blessed. It is never goodbye when we cross over thru the valley of the shadow of death it is only I will see you in the morning. May God bless your family, hold you close in HIS loving arms, surround you with HIS angels and comfort and encorage you in the days ahead. Thank you for sharing your father with us . We will keep u close i our prayers ,hearts and thoughts.

I have wonderful, personal memories of Eddy Arnold! As a teenager I saw him many times in person, and one occassion, he sang to me sitting on his lap, holding my hand in his, over his heart.....this was in a little 'eating joint' on U.S. 90 outside of Jacksonville, Fla.(1953). The resturant is still here and run by the same family, and when I go there I am always reminded of the wonderful man that so kind to a silly teenager!!! God has truly called an angel home. Rest in peace Mr. Arnold. You will never be forgotten by me!

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,

May 12, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Eddy Arnold was one of his heroes, and to him "Tennesse Plowboy" was as much an honor as a nickname.
I've been trying to sing and yodel Cattle Call for half-a-century now, and I still can't get it right, but Mr. Arnold sure got it right. God rest his soul, and God give his blessed assurance to Mr. Arnold's family.

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the belovèd's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

To the Arnold Family,

What can be said that hasn't been said before about this godly man who gave us our favorite songs. They say every love affair has a songtrack, and my mother's was just after the WAR, when "Bouquet of Roses', I'll Hold You In My Arms", and so many others would make Mother cry. Those were songs whose words you could remember two days after you'd heard the words! My granddaddy even sang along and whistled to "Cattle Call."
I think you understand how much we all loved his voice, his mannerliness...I'd seen him on Johnny Carson, and he was so down to earth, you couldn't help loving him. For me, personally, "What's He Doing in My World"and "Make the World God Away" were the sweetest.

I believe he's already in Heaven.
I believe we'll all see him there.
Thank you for sharing him with the world. It finally went away. God bless all of you and take care. God will get you through this...he always does.
May 10, 2008

While serving in the U.S. Navy, a friend and I went to see Eddy in Norfolk, VA. After the show, we talked with him and told him how much we enjoyed the show.
He shook our hand firmly and said,
"You men are doing a great job, in serving our country and I want you to know how proud I am of the job you are doing." "Thank you for coming to my show."
I`ll never forget how sincere and friendly he was that evening, to two young sailors, who were far from home. I will miss him; but thank God for the great music he left, to be enjoyed for years to come.

My condolences to the Arnold family and to all of Mr. Arnolds fans and friends. He was truly a great entertainer and even greater human being. My wife and I and our daughter who was fout at the time used to eat at a restaurant in Brentwood Tennessee that Mr Arnold patronized also. Each time he saw her he would make sure that he stopped by our table and make a fuss about her. He remembered her name and teased and talked with her as if she were family. She didn't know who he was at the time but her mother and I will make sure she does as she grows older. He was indeed a true gentleman and wonderful artist. He will be missed and remembered for a long time to come.

May 09, 2008
I had both the pleasure and honor of meeting Mr. Arnold at Opryland. He was in the midst of taping a tribute to Roy Acuff. I said hello and it began a dialogue that lasted 15 minutes or more. He was very interested in me as a person, asking me questions and taking the time to be a real, genuine and kindhearted man. I only met him once but the impression stayed with me forever. Heaven just added a golden and very humble voice to it's choir.
May 09, 2008
Dear Eddy Arnold's Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. It's hard to know what to say at this sad time because your loss and the world's loss is so great. Eddy will be missed in so many ways. I was born in 1953 and always remember my parents and family listening to Eddy Arnold. Last Sunday, 5/4, it was my 55th birthday. On the way home from the country, Eddy came on the radio singing "Make the World Go Away" and it made me think of my dad who passed away 5 years ago. I got teary-eyed, but, it brought back happy family memories. As Bob Hope would say, "Thanks For the Memories". Many hearts are with you, hoping you will have the strength you need to see you through this difficult time. May memories keep Eddy always in your heart and mind. You're in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless your family.
Sincerely, Jamie Gleason

Is there anything more American and wholesome than the great sounds of Eddy Arnold? My own Dad, a musician, purchased a TeleHouse special album right off the TV of this man's Greatest Hits back in the 1970s for me, his 11-year-old son who wanted it badly. OMG I still have it! IMHO, "Here Comes Heaven" was his very best, but he had a lot of great hits. My deepest sympathy to his family and closest friends. Truly beautiful Country and Pop-crossover music in America is also in mourning tonight! God Bless You Eddy; RIP, and thanks for the gift that continues--your country Perro Como-esque soft and gentle voice... Now that's talent!

When we were kids, my cousins and I would have to do dishes after family get togethers (no machines to wash them then) and we would sing and harmonize to his songs all the while. Sometimes we could sing with him when his radio program was on. We were so happy. He was wonderful. Rest in peace and thanks for all the joy your songs brought us and still do.
What a blessing that he didn't have to live long without his wife.
May 08, 2008

My father was a devoted fan of Mr. Arnold, my father passed away on May 6th he will be laid to rest on Saturday. One of my fondest memories was going with my Dad to see Mr. Arnold sing 36 years ago. I had heard Mr. Arnold's records for years but was truly inpressed to see the man in person. He was a man with a handsome friendly face and this voice I can only describe as God given. Well I also became a fan and in fact just recently sent my Dad a CD with some of his favorite songs on it. Mr. Arnold's music will live on and will be played in my home. I passed the music on to the next generation through my twenty three year old daughter who also became a fan. Each time I hear one of his songs it will take me back to that shared moment with my Dad. I thank Mr. Arnold for his music and thank God for Eddy Arnold. My sympathy to all family members and friends of Mr. Arnold.

I grew up in the Southwest, listening and loving Mr Arnolds songs and when I hear them, I am always transported to a particular time in my life. Still. He gave a wonderful gift, his voice, himself and I'm one of millions who probably feel this way.

Again, my prayers and thoughts to the family left behind,

A fan forever.

To Eddie's son and daughter,
I know what you are going through right now as I lost my Father in January. Your Dad was a great singer and I loved his songs. You have my sympathy and prayers.
No matter how old they are it still hurts so badly when they pass. You just have to take this one day at a time. God only allows us a certain amount of time on this earth and I am sure he has big plans for your Dad.

With sympathy,

REST IN PEACE EDDY ARNOLD

My wife and I were fortunate to be present at an Eddy Arnold concert in Tucson during the 1970's. It was a perfect performance, one we talk about today. We were further blessed to meet him backstage. What a fine, true, gentleman! God's choir has a beautiful new voice.
