thank you george for everything you talked about.and i mean all of it.thanks
Died too young! He is an icon, and sadly missed by some many, as he really told it as it really is! This world is so full of it, and he knew it and portraided it to many who knew he was right! Love you George, wish you were still amongst us buddy!!!
George, thanks for exposing the corruption within this world, and thanks for all the laughs!
I've loved hearing you all my life, even through the hamper shoot when we weren't supposed to hear you or Cheech & Chong. Just last night, I needed to get unstressed, after some bad news, so I put on one of your CD's and you sure helped me through the rough patch. I could never thank you enough George! You were so brilliant, just brilliant. Say "Thank you" to your mom for making the right choice that day in the Doctor's office. I can't imagine how my life would've been without your humor in it to get me through!!!!!!!!! Really!
Thanks for the insights. R.I.P.
George Carlin was part of my holy trinity. Kurt Vonnegut and Neil Young are the other two. Life without George and Kurt is like a water glass that is 2/3 empty or is the glass just too big for Neil to fill? Peace in the next round George and may you never be forgotten by those who need your insight and humour.
To George Carlin,
I thought you were a great comedian. You made me laugh. My prayers are with you and your family. Lisa Weiner
Light speed, dear lightning bolt, enjoy your absolute..universal diplomatic immunity ... you are now an amazing beam of pure energy exploring the vast reaches of the universe. Love you cousin...
george your the gest period..god speed
For George...When he shucked the coat and tie for black T-shirts and jeans, grew his hair long and began to riff about those "Seven Words You Can Never Say on TV," George Carlin became more than just the countercultural comedian.
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

George Carlin was an act within himself.
He seemed strange at times, yet, he always left a message so true.
May the angels now welcome him and laugh all the way through the days.
Rest in peace.
My friend, you were in
a league of your own.

GEORGE CARLIN WAS A FUNNY MAN AND IM SAD THAT HE PASSED AWAY. R.I.P GEORGE CARLIN
Thanx for all the laugh's.As an inspiring comic I realize that you have to go with the flow,feed off the crowd to be funny. Im a New Yorker myself,please give me a sign or something so i can get some "guts" to go back on stage. Im lost here.
One of the funniest men in the world.....and by the way.....what are those words that can't be used on radio or tv....I'm sure he's telling everyone what they are right now....you will be missed
GEORGE CARLIN was an extemely insightful and perceptive person who always commented with total honesty as he saw the pathetic human condition.
And, was able to take his quite sad view and use his genius to make us laugh with irony.
An avowed atheist / agnostic, it is startling to me how many people have submitted allusions to religion which he never believed in.
He was one of the most influential humorists / comedians of the 20th Century.
He is and will be missed by many.
Mr Hippy Dippy weather man. Im a child of
the 60s I loved George so much. no one
could ask "questions" like George.
Rest in peace George.

George Carlin had a special style of his own when it came to comedy. I remember seeing him in person and laughing non-stop for over an hour. After the show, we exchanged a few words of friendship and warm smiles. What a great memory! Rest in peace George!
George "Mr. Conductor" Carlin, I enjoyed you so much in "Thomas, The Tank Engine". My son and I watched it every day morning and afternoon. I have tapes of Thomas with you on them.
I still enjoy Thomas.
I am sorry for your loss to the Carlin Family. I know he will be missed forever.
God bless you all.
GEORGE CARLIN--WAS AND IS THE GREATEST.GOD BLESS GEORGE.
George You will be truly missed. I have been watching your specials since 1977. To the Carlin Family I am so sorry. Take care!
March 22 will always be a day that will live in my mind forever. It was the day that me and my brother went to see George Carlin in person. To have heard that he had passed away, means we have lost The trinity of Comedy (Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Lenny Bruce) Condolences go out to his family, and he will be sorely, sorely missed around my house.
May George rest in peace -- he was
one of our greatest comedians and his talent was huge. May God Bless
his spirit and comfort his daughter and brother and the rest of the Carlin family - with deep sympathy
There is nothing I can say to properly thank or praise this man and what he has done for me. For someone that I have never met, he has done so much for me without even knowing. I know that sounds corny and sad, but when I was a young man I was introduced to Mr. Carlin through a friend because he was "dirty" and cussed a lot. But I heard what he was saying between the "naughty" words. Mr. Carlin help me develop rational thought and to second-guess anything presented to me. And he did it while I laughed. A lot. He taught me to challenge everything from all sides.If I am against something, look for reasons I should be for it. If I am for something - look for the negatives. CIRCULAR understanding of everything. Needless to say this caused a lot of issues for not just my parents (thankfully fans as well), but teachers and bosses throughout the years. I know no one lives forever, but the idea(l)s do. This man will never die. In our hearts or our minds... and our questions.
My condolences for your lost - but it must be heartwarming to know that this man was so well loved by so many.
Thank you, sir. Thank you.
To the Carlin Family, and George,
I'm so sorry for your loss. We will all miss him dearly.
George, I seen you in person, your movies, and specials. They say laughter is a great medicine, and you filled all of us with that medicine.
Thank you for that.
To the Carlin Family,
First let me start off by thanking you for sharing George with the world. Take comfort in know that George has been greeted by some wonderful people in Heaven. My Grandfather passed away nearly ten years ago and I am sure that he was one of the first person to greet the comedic giant as he entered the Pearly gates. Although George is gone he will never be forgotten he leaves behind an amazing legacy for his family and the world. He has made me smile in my darkest days and has brought many a smiles to my face.
Thanks for keeping it real, you are an amazing man with the most incredible sense of humor. I first saw you on the Young Comedians Tour you were amazing.... Always made me laugh.
Rest in Peace
My condolences go out to George Carlin's family and friends. I have been a long time fan of George and still have his albums that I bought way back when, FM & AM and Class Clown. George Carlin could always make me laugh til I cried. They just don't make them like George nowadays.
god bless you george now you can make laugh in heaven
I was at a July 4th party, don't know where I've been. But, just heard George Carlin passed away, I was shocked to say the least. I thought he was a brilliant comedian and put alot of laughter in my life when I watched his stand up routines on TV. He will be truly missed, he was one of the best. God Bless you and your family. Tell clean jokes now, your in heaven with the best.
George, You were the first stand-up comic I ever saw and you made me love comedy.You were and always will be my favorite. I, my friends, and my family will miss you deeply and no one will ever take you place.
Rest in Peace
George Carlin...I feel like I knew you as a member of my family. Thanks for being a class act and a fine human being. I am now 54 years old but remember seeing you as a young teenager. You touched me with your regular style but you were everything except...you embraced all of us without distinction between race, color, sexual orientation, culture or economic status and taught how how the world SHOULD be. Thanks George this cold world could use another one just like you!
Many, many thanks to you, Mr. George Carlin, for you're kind and genious words. We have nothing at all in common, though you were my internet father many days after school. May you're energy continue to help and enlighten the world. Lots of love and hugs, Katie.
Seven words you can't say or Seven Things You Thought You Could Recycle ? There will never be another George Carlin again. May he rest in peace. A life time of Laughs he gave us all. Our Prayers go out to his family.

I saw George Carlin in Pinebrook, NJ about 10 years back the place was packed, but he kept us laughing at the absurdities we live with, ourselves and the world in general. We'll miss you George!
I saw George at the South Shore Music Circus in Massachusetts about 20 years ago. I laughed and smiled and laughed....until it almost hurt.
That man was gifted.
Thank you Mr. Carlin for always making us laugh. You will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I am 53 Years old and have been a true Carlin fan for years. I first saw George at the Worcester State College back in the early 70's, and saw him a recently as May 5 2008 at the Hancock Theatre in Worcester Mass. I brought my 18 year old daughter to see her first Carlin show.. She had begged me for awhile to go see Georgie "THE MAN" as she called him. Well your lips are silent but your legend carries on. May god have the same fun, joy and laughter we had when you were here. I just hope GOD has a real good sense of humour.
You brought intelligence to the world of comedy. Thank you.
Thank you for all the smiles you left behind. My prayers are with the Carlin family.

The loss of Mr. Carlin saddens me. It is also the loss of a wonderful period of my youth. I truly enjoyed The Hippie Dippy Mailman.
My condolences to the Carlin family. An intelligent, funny and talented man has left this world too soon.
I literally grew up on your brand of humor. My younger brother and I could recite from memory your "seven words" routine. Add to that, my daughter and I used to watch you on ShiningTime Station. And now, my grandson Dylan is repeating your line from Cars that "every third blink is sl-o-w-er, man". Comedy for a lifetime. My family will miss you far more than you'll ever know. Thank you for all the laughter. God bless.
We were so saddened to learn of Mr. Carlin's passing. He really was a great act and we enjoyed him so much. We respected and loved his candidness. The world was so lucky to have had him in it -- he will be sorely missed.

His gift of laughter will live on in so many hearts and continue to challenge our actions and thoughts.
Family be encouraged and continue to keep the memory of "George" alive.
Thank you for all the laughter you bought into the world, you were one of the best. Another legend gone but never forgotten. You inspired many to find their voices, I loved you in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure as "Rufus"
He was a constant voice of humour in my life. He might of been a comedian but he pointed out many things to be obvious that we overlooked as a society. He will be surely missed by many fans, but mostly by family. May you have many happy memories to bring you through this difficult time.
"What a get to the point funny man.
Loved evevry word of it". RIP.
When I heard Mr. Carlin had passed away, I actually cried. Next to Richard Pryor, he was the funniest comedian ever. He told it like it was and let you deal with it. Whatever he believed about heaven and the afterlife, you HAVE to believe he's up there cutting up! RIP George

My deepest sympathy to George's family. George you will be missed for your ability to push a joke over the edge, also for making sense about so many things, for I call Carlinisms.
Keep them laughing.
George Carlin was an amazing entertainer... he had a unique sense of humor that we could all, in some way, identify with. I laughed so hard listening to George Carlin that my stomach would hurt. That's how I will remember this amazing man. My heart goes out to his daughter. I can't imagine how hard it must be to say 'goodbye' to a parent, even at 45 that just can't be an easy thing. Thank you George for many years of entertainment... and thank you to his family for sharing this special and unique man with the world. God bless you George... you will be missed by the world.
You will be missed-your talent and kindness to the people in the industry will not go on noticed,

A very funny man, who now knows the Truth. Rest in peace.
Now only you, George knows,when will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops....
I remember, as a kid, my recently widowed grandmother sitting in our living room with headphones on, listening to my dad's George Carlin records (1973) and just laughing until the tears ran down her face. I believe to this day he saved my grandmother. I couldn't wait until I was old enough to listen.
Thanks for a lifetime of thought provoking laughter.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
To the family of George Carlin, Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Our all time favorite comedian! Just his name brings a smile as we remember one or another of his acts.
This is truely a loss. There will never be another George Carlin.

DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO GEORGES FAMILY. WE WILL MISS HIS PERFORMANCES. ALWAYS MADE US LAUGH UNTIL WE CRIED. REST IN PEACE.
enjoyed listening to George for over 40 years...from the Ed Sullivan Show he was one of a kind and the comedy world will not be the same without him! I will miss him very much. You had gave us much to laugh about
Years ago I got a front row ticket to your show at the Civic Theatre in Akron, Ohio. I lucked out because I couldn't find anyone else to go with me (they were all broke), and there was a single seat up front. I had worked a 16 hour shift as a nurse that day (coming in at 3 a.m. and clocking out at 7:30 p.m.). I had a flask of Jameson’s in my purse and took a few sips before the show. (It had been a rough day). The opening act was a banjo playing novice, who promptly helped finish me off. I was out like a light. My flask fell out of my purse and rolled to the orchestra pit wall (where I found it after the show). I'm sure it made some sort of thud. I woke up with drool on my cheek, and the sound of exit music in the air. I was happy to have caught a nap before your act, and I sat up in anticipation of your entrance. Suddenly the house lights went on, and people were exiting the theatre. I had slept through the entire show. I'm sure if you had seen me, I was incorporated into the act; the perfect vehicle for self deprecation. I always meant to catch your act again, in a conscious state. Opportunities came and went. I never fulfilled that promise. It'll be the first thing I do if I get to where you are. You were my hero. As Dennis Miller said, you made your audience "suck wind!" Now you know whether all that "stuff out there" is just you...or there're pork chops finally being brought to the table. I offer my heart felt condolences to your family, and all the rest of us who are left behind.
Thanks for the Honesty, and the laughs always from my family to yours Waking up in a small town in Missouri. ~ Amber & family ~
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

Our sincere condolences to The Carlin Family. George was truly a gifted comedian. He made sense of the everyday ho-hum and cracked jokes about it. He knew how to command the English language and put a spin on newest technology. You will be truly missed by all of your fans. Make them laugh in heaven and know that your jokes and parodies will out last time. Rest in peace George.

George Carlin was, by far, the greatest stand up comedian to ever grace the stage. His command over the English language is what made him such a legend. I will miss him dearly.

George, you were beyond funny, and far beyond wise. Your comedy has entertained and inspired a broad, broad range of generations, from young to old. In looking over the pages here tonight, I can say nothing beyond what has already been said in this outpouring of sympathy from your fans. Your books and your terrific comedy routines will live on and the name George Carlin will go down in the history books with all the greats. George Carlin will live forever.
George, Thank you for all the years of laughter and insight into the human condition. You were spot on.
George Carlin was one of the first comedians I remember watching and laughing so hard my ribs hurt. I was 11, and in spite of the language used in his routine, I still got away with watching him on an HBO special, because he WAS SO FUNNY! Although I disagreed with his political and religious views, I still enjoyed his comedy, and I am sad to see him go.
my heart goes out to the entire carlin family i am so sorry for your loss.thanks for all the laughs george.
i grew up watching George since i was really little im 22 now so its been a long time lol but i just found out he past away and it broke my heart.He will be Misses :(
George you were good real good. God bless you , too make people laugh is a gift. If you could laugh your whole life you would be stress free. George talked about the famous nun's boy oh boy you can bet they'd whack you one with the ruler.lol lol.George thanks for all the laughs and for all the stuff.lol lol you know what I mean.
Thanks forever, George Carlin for lightening the load of being human. I laughed long and out loud for years hearing your erudite, incredibly smart humor. During the decades we needed most to have someone always asking the right questions and saying what's wrong here, you did it all! Where in the h--- will the world go without you? It can't be...we'll miss you so.
I am guessing you are having the last laugh now. Peace be with your spirit and with your family.
He wasn't my favorite comedian, but I did like him and his sometimes off-color jokes. He was real and down to earth. Yup, I'll miss him, but I won't forget him.
I was watching a special last night on George. God he made me laugh. He could take some of the simplest things in life and just make me laugh untill I cry. The special contained a segment on death. George was talking about death and time. Does it seem like the first half of the hour goes a lot faster than the last half? When I go I want it to be in the last half of the hour.
George got his wish he "passed away" 5:55PM
Thank god for him. I'll miss him, but will never forget him
The country will miss the greatest comedian that ever was!
The one and only, George Carlin!
You will be greatly missed.
We love you!
Just your facial expressions made me piss my pants. Your are, hands down the funniest man I have grown up with. I have always wanted to meet you. My prayers to your family. I'll meet you in Heaven, in the sense of humor room. Robin

Always loved your humour..seeing you perform in Vancouver BC Canada in the early 70's. Wow you made us laugh...and always making a point if you were performing in Las Vegas to catch a show.....you were one of the great ones, and will be truly missed...my sympathies to the Carlin family.
George, Thank you for making us laugh. I'm sure that wherever you are you are making someone laugh.
Deepest sympathies to the Carlin family. We have lost a great comedian. We would go see him when he was in town. Go with God, George,
George, God broke the mold when you were hatched, but then you thought that He had a sense of humor too. I quote you often and that will keep your style fresh for years to come. GoodBye, M'Friend
We George Carlin fans are mourning, since monday the day we heard the sad sad news.
He made us laugh so hard that it made our stomachs ache but in a great way, our faces ache from the smiling ear to ear w/laughter that filled our mouths. As I searched the net to check his tour dates, I was so happy that we got tickets and we were going to see him, just last month on May 3rd and in our home town, Stamford Ct. We can say that we had the honor of sitting in the 3rd row with George Carlin right before our eyes making us laugh, and think about his views. What a smart man, total genuis! One reason why I am so glad that my kids are in their early twenties, we had the experience of seeing Georg together as a family! We are very saddened it will be very hard for us to watch his videos from this day on.
The Moretti family
You were my father's favorite comedian ever. He died a long time ago when I was 15, and I am thankful he got to see you live shortly before he died. And I am very glad I went to see you a few years ago in Boston, my boyfriend had no idea who you were at the time (I think he must have grown up in a cave), but you had him before your first joke was even finished. Thanks for all the laughs, and you will be missed greatly!
lm so sorry for the Carlin families loss. I myself just lost my father last year too diabetes. Our prayers and thoughts from the Harvey family here ln Tennessee. we shall miss and always love the laughs that Gorge Carlin has brought too our faces

This is a heart breaker!! Loved his style!!! He will be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathies to the entire Carlin family on the loss of George. He always made me laugh. I love his "Seven Words You Can't Say on TV" routine, but one of my favorites was the comparison he did between football and baseball. He brought tears to my eyes because of how hard he made me laugh. He will be deeply missed!
A great man !!!!!!!!!!!! Sooo...funny,made me think about true facts of life.
To a man, who has always warmed my heart with truth, cynicism and sarcasm and having been a guiding light to my being since understanding, you will be sorrowfully missed, brother...
I loved your views of this insane world and society we lived in! Just when I didn't feel like I was making it as a nice little stay at home mom, here comes Ol' Geogie Boy remind me that its them thats messed up. Not me. I love your stint about how you hate people who name their boys Kyle and Todd. Or your quote "pacifism is a nice idea but its gonna get you killed". Thanks. Although we have never met, your actually helped me!!! May god rest your soul!!!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God." 2 Corinthians 1:3,4
I got to see you live at a little theater in Fort Bragg Ca. of all places in 1985, it was a treat, you are one of my favorites, I will miss your style, thanks for being a part of my life.
my deepest sympathy goes out to the Carlin family, I can't even think what kind of pain and loss your going through right now. Just know he is in a better place now, and wont be feeling pain any longer. He will be missed terrably, and will all put a smile back on our faces sooner or later. RIP Old Friend!
George, You brought smiles and happiness to alot of people over your life time. You are one of the best comics ever to hit the stage. May you RIP and keep them laughing in heaven. My deepest sympathy to the Carlin Family. You are gone but not forgotten. Dennis Rodgers(Toms River, NJ)
To the Carlin Family,
When my brother and I were old enough to buy records,it wasn't music,it was all of George Carlin's albums ! He was the best ! We laughed until we cried. We're both in our mid-fifties now and George Carlin is gone,but,will never be forgotten.
May his life always be remembered for his humor and irreverence.
I had picked up George Carlin's book Napalm and Silly Putty at a thrift store some time back. I think he would probably smile at its humble destination. It has been a fun book to read and I have always enjoyed his TV antics. This "immediate friend" funny guy will be sorely missed!
You always made us laugh, I hope wherever you may be, you are laughing! We'll miss you, George!

I saw him a couple of times when he appeared at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport, Pa. He was also my Dad's favorite and I took Dad to one of George's shows. Thank You George for all the great comedy over the years. There may be other comedians...but there will NEVER be another YOU!
Oh for just one more day of your warmth and stories. Then as the song goes---just one more day. One day would never be enough of George Carlin. Thanks for all of the good times and laughter----oh the laughter. I don't think anyone has ever made me laugh harder or longer or with more tears. Thank you for years of carefree minutes. You are missed already!!!!

I never knew George in real life but he helped shape my life and realize a lot of things in this world and I regret not being able to see him when he was here last summer. A truly great man and my philosophical idol. Too doodle loo, go with god, and don't take any wooden nickels, a proper goodbye from the legend.

Thanks for the laughs, and for making me think. You were a pioneer, and mighty funny. This is a big loss.
To his family I extend my sympathies.
I love George Carlin he said it like it was . The world has lost it's funniest man.
Dear Sally, Kelly, Patrick, and Jerold:
My heart goes out to you. I like you, am deeply saddened by his passing. The genius has left the building.
Take comfort in the knowledge that those of us left behind have many fond memories we can reflect upon. Anytime we choose we can open a book, put on a recording, and look at the many pictures we have.
In essence George was a living legacy. He left a ton of material behind. His spirit will always live on.
I will always remember the last time I saw him. April 11, 2008 here in Houston at the Verizon Wireless Theatre. I walked out of the place with a huge smile on my face and the knowledge that I am the person I am today because of him. Thanks a million George. No one will ever be able to fill your shoes.
your voice brings only good memories
Nothing will ever compare to George Carlin's fearless articulation of his arcane understanding of life's irrational dynamics . . . (not too bad for a High School drop-out)
Mr. Carlin You'll surely be missed. You saw the world like it really is, and more than a comedian you tried to open peoples eyes to make us realize the world is much more than materials. thanks mr. Carlin
It's so hard to believe you're really gone. You will be missed but your humor will surely live on.
My how it saddened me to lose the best comedian ever, I grew up watching Johnny Carson, and that is when I first heard you. I laughed so hard, and for years & years I continue to watch you when ever you were on T.V. and the rip roaring laughing has never end, I'll look you up in heaven when I get there, because I know you'll have all of the people laughing so hard I'll hear them when the gate opens. I'll Miss you so much, but thanks for all the many years of true laughing from the gut.
I am so honored to have been able to see Mr. Carlin at the Landmark Theater in Syracuse, NY. He will be truly missed by millions. Thanks for the laughs, George
Hands down the funniest man born. What a tragic loss, you passed so much on to us, you forced us to look at ourselves. You made millions of people laugh and look at life through different eyes. Bless you my friend and may you find peace.
It gives me comfort when I think that you are not too far away!!
Even if your not physically here. Your just a thought away.
We can all carry you within our hearts. I am so happy to have been able to share this Universe with you.
I always laugh out loud when I listen to you sharing your truth.
Your truth was like a breath of fresh air. Refreshing.
I will pray that your family can be strong through these sad day's ahead. Thank You again for being you!!
The world will be a little less funny with out you. You challenge the world to think outside the box. You will be missed
You will be missed. Thanks for the laughter through the years.
A special command performance. God must be laughing! Thanks for all the great memories.
George you rocked the world with your truth and we are all saddened that your gone May the lord grant you your heaven you wish for
My heart has been saddened, but you had a full life. Now you are up in heaven with all it's glory and God is laughing so hard we're having way too many thunderstorms down here. May the Lord be with your family and friends during this time of sadness and the celebrating of your life!
Your Humor of Life's Reality will be greatly missed.
You would have made a
Great President of the
United States of America!
Thank You for sharing your gift.

GEORGE,GEORGE,GEORGE.......Where have you gone, my friend. I will miss your comedic humor and everything else that went with it. You will be truely missed by all.
George Carlin was the first person's album that I bought in college. His "seven words" routine got me through a lot of interesting times. I thought he was a funny man. I am sorry to hear of his passing. You were loved in this lifetime. Break a leg in the next one.
Oh I could not beleive the news you are gone but never in our hearts. I just watched a special on T.V. I am 58 so I have seen you over the years. I was a little hippy girl and you were my Idol. you always made me laugh and think alot you will be missed by generations. Peace Judy
George, you will be greatly missed I remember you from the 1st SNL - and your "Hippy Dippy Weather Man"
You have moved on to a greater audience, and will be with some of the SNL greats, I'd love to hear those stories. My prayers go out to your family.
Thanks for all the laughter that helps one get thru this life......Hope to see your show in the here after..The world will miss you for sure my sympathys to the carlin family
your words made my ears sizzle and my face turn red - thank you for the laughter - you were unique
carlin family my sincerest sympathies . through the years you have brought joy and happiness to my family. it was family affair when you was on tv and in the movies that we would watch nothing else. we loved you and will miss you but will never be forgotten.
What a sad loss of a great human being !!!!
I enjoyed listening to George for over 40 years...from the Ed Sullivan Show to Howard Stern.... he was one of a kind and the comedy world will not be the same without him! I will miss him very much.
Bye Bye Hippy Dippy weatherman. You were my hero and thanks for giving our generation the courage to say what we think! Bless you. You were really "something else!"
George was incredible; my husband and I loved his humor. We saw his stage act twice. Sadly, our t-shirts and posters from the events were flooded. But we do remember his one of a kind comedy, his wisdom, his intelligence. It's sad to think we'll never see his stage act again.
"Gee, he was just here a minute ago!" ;-)
George, I'll miss hearing your unique take on life.
George: You own a place in our hearts and minds, for the humor and the humanitarian, and the philosopher, we bid you farewell while we look forward to your new material in the City where the Streets are paved with Gold..... Thanks for the all the Laughs.
We wish you the best seven words of fun in your new life.
George, you kept us real. When we got too full of ourselves you let some of the hot air out of us with your humor. I'm sure you have them rolling in the aisles in heaven right now. God bless!!!!
Wow ! His illusion slicing humour resonated comfortably with me like a kindred spirit !!!! Farewell Brother George !!!!!!!!
Man, I was gonna write you a letter. I just got done reading one of your books, and was amazed that your ideas were so similiar to my own from such a different generation and another coastline. I am going to take this unfortunate event as a reminder of yours-that life is something that must be taken advantage of when you get the feeling to do so. I don't even know you and I....cried when I heard you had passed. I thought to myself, "There goes another one that should have been left here a little longer."
Thank god I got to see you live at least once, I am thankful for that.
My family and I are sitting here talking about how horrible it is that you are gone while I am writing this, and how sad we are that we never got to meet or read an Email from you personally.
It's gonna be a long time before we ever get another one like you.
At least now you know some of the answers to all those questions that you have been asking all those years.
You are a star, shining brightly.
May your glimmer never fade....
We are going to miss you......
I began listening to you w/ my father when I was about 11yrs old. At that time I thought it was just funny, & now that I am 29 I finally got your point of view. Over the years I have purchased every last bit of material I've seen! Due to the fact that if you read between the comedy (which is funny as hell) you've always made logical points that directly applied to me & my life. Over the years I've grown to take MANY of you r philosphies to heart. Anyway, I really justw ant to take this moment to say.....THANK YOU.
On George Carlin,
Condolences to his family and friends. To me, he was our Mirror Man, always causing us to take a look at ourselves and often ask some difficult questions, aimed at making us think and become better. Bless you, George....for the gifts you gave us all these years. Rest easy.
MY BROTHERS AND I AND A FRIEND SAW GEORGE IN 1975 AT CIRCLE STAR IN SAN CARLOS,CA. WE WERE IN THE FRONT FOW , OUR FRIEND FELL ASLEEP AND SNORED LOUDLY, CARLIN PICKED UP ON THIS, HAD THE CREW RECORD HIS SNORING AND LATER WHEN HE WOKE UP, GEORGE PLAYED IT BACK LOUDLY OVER HIS ROUTINE, THEN JUST STARRED AT HIM. I ALWAYS FELT IF GOD WENT MODERN WAYS HE WAS GEORGE REINCARNATED. I LOVED HIS STYLE AND WIT AND HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED.
It is sad to lose someone like George but his legacy will live on. It won't be long and we will be together again. I am sure your wife greeted you at the gate.
I'm still hoping to hear this isn't true. I've never been one to be affected by celebrity deaths, but I was deeply saddened to hear of George's passing. It truly is a dark day in comedy.
I grew up with George Carlin, and haven't ever seen a bit I didn't laugh at or bring a smile to my face. George's comedy has brightened the lives of countless people, made people think, and smile.
Carlin family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all, and countless others are mourning with you, and celebrating the life of George, as he brought a lot of joy to many people, and will be greatly missed :( I'm just glad I got the chance to see him live at least once.
Ithink that the world loss one of the greatest comedians of the world when George Carlin died. He told the world how things really was like and how strange this world is and how insane the human race acted in any situations.
I can see it all now .... George has an audience with God, and God is falling down laughing. We've lost a tremendous talent.
"Did you ever notice?"... bla bla bla...Well George, did you ever notice how many people's lives you touched? Oh God, will you be missed. Excellent at the art of life. My heart goes out to your family, and to us all. Great loss. A really great loss.
Heaven just got a little funnier, with the Richard Pryor/George Carlin comedy hour with special appearances by Don Knotts and Harvey Korman
Thanks for the funny jokes.TO THE FAMILY KEEP YOUR HEAD AND TRUST IN GOD.
George, No one will ever take your place in the comedy world. You were one of a kind. I remember when you came to NH, my husband and son couldn't wait to go see you....and they had a great time and talked about it for over a month. I think they have every tape, cd and disc that you made. Even though you joked about everything in the world there were always truth about everything you said. You will be greatly miss and we will never forget you. Our deepest sympathy goes to your family and friends. God Bless
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

THE WORLD MOURNS WITH YOU. GEORGE NOW HAS A WHOLE NEW ARENA FOR SOME GREAT NEW "HEAVEN" MATERIAL. TOO BAD WE WON'T BE ABLE TO HEAR IT YET. GEORGE, YOU WILL NEVER BE FOR- GOTTEN---YOU HAD AN EFFECT ON EVERY GENERATION. THANKS FOR SHARING!
I will miss his humor, the cat missing the dresser, the dog's job waiting around for his master; the "stuff" routine, He was the best!!
George was a genius and spoke to the truth with hysterical insight.
I would watch his HBO specials over and over and laugh anew each time.
Thanks George, rest in peace and comfort to your family.
TO THE FAMILY, I FIRST SAW GEORGE IN THE MID TO LATE 70'S ON HBO, AND I THOUGHT THIS GUY IS GREAT! WHEN EVER I HAD A BAD DAY OR JUST WASN'T IN A GOOD MOOD I'D PLAY MY 8 TRACKS, OF GEORGE AND SOME OTHER COMEDIENS, I LIKED, AND, I'D START LAUGHING SO HARD, MY DAY GOT BRITER, AND MY MOOD'S IMPROVED INSTANTLY! HE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DOCTOR, CAUSE HE ALWAY'S PROVIDED EVERYONE THE BEST MEDICINE, LAUGHTER. I NEVER SAW HIM LIVE, BUT WHEN MY DAY COME'S, I'LL BE THERE, TO SEE HIM, AND, TELL HIM HOW GREAT HE WAS, AND HOPEFULLY, HAVE A GOOD LAUGH WITH HIM. REST IN PEACE, BUT I THINK GOD TOOK YOU HOME, SO YOU COULD MAKE HIM LAUGH TOO! YOU MAY BE GONE, BUT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE IN MY PRAYERS! I WILL MISS YOU.
George, thanks for "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends." My children came to know and love you. You made many generations smile. You will be deeply missed.
We will miss you terribly George. Our son just turned 18 and I was hoping to take him to one of your shows when he turned 21. Alas, this is not going to happen. He has also been compared to you for his sense of humor. We will continue your legacy and honor your memory by watching every tribute to you available on tv this week. Our deepest sympathies to your family and friends.
George Carlin will definitely be missed. One of very few comics who could take any part of life and make it laughable. Taught me not to take myself/life too seriously. Thank you, George

George, Thank you for the years of laughter and joy you've given those who have the courage to look beyond the language and hear the real message behind your words. You made us laugh till we cried, and see things in a way that many didn't acknowledge, but you were always right!! We're stunned that your gone, but will continue to laugh and marvel at your talent. The world would be a better place if more people could acknowledge the truth in your words.
Thank you George for helping us see the humor and teaching us that it was alright to laugh....

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family...
Thanks for the laughs. Godspeed.
He will be missed. Rest in Peace George.
Since the 1970's George Carlin has been a big part of my life and those around me. We all loved him for his very humorous, honest and real outlook on life. He had the guts no one else had. He'll always live on in our memories and our vinyl record albums and we'll still be laughing while listening and remembering his realisms that we've heard a hundred times before. There'll never be another George Carlin.
George, no one will ever do comedy the way you did! I discovered you as a mere kid (age 15) and I followed you ever since! You will most certainly be missed! Thank you for all of the wonderful laughs you brought to all of us!
You will be greatly missed!! You made me laugh and think about my life and you are right. I will always be a fan of your humor but the good news is you didn't die, you just simply past away. RIP George, keep em' laughing in heaven!
The world is a little sadder and
we will all be lonely with out you.
You will be deeply missed.
Made me laugh for many moons. For that I am eternally grateful.
I'm grateful for the many laughs he gave us. We all need some intelligent humor in our lives and he was truly gifted at providing that.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
You made us laugh :-)
cinD,John,Daniel & Johnny Davidson
You will be miss!
R.I.P Mr.Carlin aka FUNNY MAN.....
A great comedian, made me laugh many time in my life. I need to get the old 8-track tapes out and listen to them again.
To George's family....he can't see this...he's dead. I will miss his right-on humor and honesty.
I would usually have to re-wind any tapes or restart any records to hear again cuz my laughing out loud would drown out the words.
Sometimes had to re-read his words in books and article, tears were coming down my face in laughter.
Wish he could have lived longer to share more with us in the future...
No one can feel the same as you--his family and close friends, but he will be missed by many many fans...
George, we will miss you. No one could do or say it like you. I too went to Catholic school & forgot a lot that went on until you brought it all back. How you made us laugh. Everytime I say MY STUFF, your face always pops up. I guess God & the Angels need help sorting their stuff. We saw you @ Westbury Music Fair once & I laughed so hard I cried. No one will ever take your place in our hearts. We will miss you always.
He may be gone, but George Carlin will live on in our hearts and memories forever. May God Bless and comfort his family now in their time of grief.
Even though I had just recently discovered how funny this man is, he became an instant inspiration to me and I will never forget him.
Aw nuts! And there was so much good material just waiting for him over the next couple of decades. He had to be a closet Canadian. There's just no other explanation for his wit and talent. Goodbye from a fellow Atheist.
The world has lost a comedic genius. He always made my road trips much more enjoyable.
You will be missed dearly.
I remember sneaking down at night and listening to my parents record with the 7 dirty words and laughing so hard I was caught.
I will truly miss your accurate and honest views on life
You will be missed greatly! I have so many of your shows on tape and DVD and I will watch them over and over and just laugh hysterically! You will be missed by lots of people and we will always remember you as being the funniest comic I ever saw.
"*Bing-Bong* It's 5 minutes past the big hour of 5 o' clock!" and the world is a much sadder place today. RIP George Carlin you were definitely one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Remember the 7!!!!!!
I discovered the the comedy of George Carlin in the summer of 1974 when I was 12 years old. My buddy's brother owned the Class Clown album and we "borrowed" it one day. I never laughed so hard in my life! Thanks, George, for poking fun at those who are too serious.
The world will be a much more somber place without your awesome sense of humor and ability to make us laugh. For years I have enjoyed you and the unique way you saw the world around you. I will forever miss you, George.
I first heard George in the eary 70's. I watched him on SNL. Bill and Teds and in Dogma, He was my favorite. Boy, did I laugh. He was so talented. I went to catholic school when I was a little girl and I laughed at his jokes when I grew up. So true, so true. He had to experience life in order to make fun of it. This world is going through such hard times and such fire and pain. God and the angels said "we need to laugh , we need the best" so they sent for George. George will be appearing 24/7 at the pearly gates with St. Peter. He will be Interceding for all those judged. " oh come on! He only said those seven words once, well, maybe twice in his life. "Ah let her in Pete. She has all that STUFF". Or "Pete, he had to drive behind someone that went really, really S-L-O-W. Thank you to the Carlin family for sharing him with his adoring fans. Our entire family sends their sincere prayers to you and your family.
MY HEART IS BROKEN. WE'VE LOST A TRUE COMIC GENIUS...

Sunday we lost A TRUE Giant In Comedy. May you be as Funny in Heaven as you were here on earth
I can't believe you're gone, George. You were an inspiration and you will be greatly missed!
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
My sincere sympathy to Mr. Carlin’s family. For those of us who were witness to his comedic genius, George was a gift and we thank you for sharing him with us. Heaven will never be the same, now that he’s arrived.
In a world of hyper-political correctness it is so refreshing to hear someone tell it like it is and who isn't afraid to offend anyone. People need to be offended once in a while to realize that what they are doing makes no sense. That takes guts.
You leaving us is a huge loss.
Have a nice day, I'm not unwell.
I was lucky to see George Carlin when he came to Fairbanks, AK. Such a great time. George you will be missed and thanks to his family for all of us to have been able to enjoy his humor.
Truely a comedian genius, thanks for all of the laughs.
You will be missed. To the family, sorry for your loss.

George, you were (and still are) the greatest comedian of all time. We love you so much and will miss you greatly...your life was a tragedy that you turned into "our" comedy and we will miss you sorely!
I loved that fact that you made me think even with the comedy. You stated the facts that no one else had the guts to. You will be missed. May God bless your family in this trying time.
PLEASE ACCEPT OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE LOSS OF YOUR HUSBAND, FATHER, FAMILY, AND EXTENDED FAMILY IN SHOW BUSINESS. A BRILLANR, BRILLANT MAN AND FANTASTIC COMEDIAN.
I am glad to have had the honor of seeing in concert twice. I wish it could have been more.
I have watched George Carlin since I was young. My favorite bits were the one comparing football and baseball and the Hippy Dippy weatherman. He was one of a kind and will be missed. My condolences to the family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

George you were a hero to someone trying to undestand the absurdity of life. Thanks And i'll mis you.
I was so saddened to hear about George Carlin. He was my absolute favorite! He was never afraid to speak his mind,and tell the truth about everyday living! So unique and talented and way ahead of his time! I never got to see him perform in person,but I have many of his albums,that I treasure. George you will be sorely missed...God Bless You!
The man who stuck it to "The Man"!!!
This is sad indeed, almost saw George in Las Vegas a couple of years back, but missed the opportunity. Was hoping to see him in Vancouver this winter... My deepest condolences to the family .
Jan(Vancouver , B.C.
My world hasn't looked the same since the first time I listened to Class Clown. I owe you an endless debt of gratitude for teaching me how to see around what's in front of me. Bless you, sir, you're with your heavenly Buddy now.
Funny, Funny Man. Will be missed.
We're both sorry for your loss. George always told the truth in his jokes (even though people didn't like what he said). He will be missed by my Husband and myself.
God bless & may he hold you close in his arms.
George was a pioneer in the comedy field. To this day I can remember the first time that I saw him on TV. I am grateful for his intelligent humour and his ability to make us laugh at the human condition. I count myself fortunate to have seen him in a live performance. He was one of the few comedians whose acts I could always watch again and again and still laugh out loud. I feel like I have lost a friend
My deepest sympathy to the Carlin family.
Dear Carlin Family,
I had the honor of seeing Sir George perform twice in the 1990s... even though he was hysterically funny, his poignancy and wisdom clearly came through the comic facade. Please know that I share your loss, and hope that his books, movies, and recordings will provide you a lifetime of great memories and a sense that he is never far away. Also, in deference to his disdain for golf courses (useless piece of real estate) please, someone buy one and put affordable housing for the homeless on it... and call it "George Carlin's Utopia". Preferably in Palm Springs. Rest in Peace, Mr. Carlin.
You will always be the wonderful "Hippy Dippy Weatherman", my condolences to the family. George will be missed by many. Rest in Peace.
Groucho Marx and George Carlin.....
Two men I will always be deeply indebted to.
Brilliant. Just absolutely brilliant. "Thank You" for being you Mr. Carlin. May you rest in eternal peace.
George Carlin will be missed but ofcourse will always be remembered. My favorite of his was about "stuff".I am sure that George is looking at us all and having a good laugh with LOTS of jokes to tell.
To the family of Mr. Carlin,
He was a true icon. God Bless George who brought us true entertainment and let us into his life for so many years.
We were fortunate enough to have experienced George's live performance at the Bass Hall in Fort Worth in March, just 3 months ago. We will surely miss his comedic genius and send our sincere sympathy to his family and friends. Thank you, George, for tickling our brains, our funny bones and touching our hearts.
The man who owned the courage and honesty to speak out loud about reality, and in addition to make us laugh about it.
Wherever you are, have fun, and thanks for everything.
You have made me laugh since I was a little girl. I will always keep you close to my heart. You brought laughter & joy to my life. Missin' you already!!
I enjoyed Mr. Carlin's humor and wit throughout most of my adult life and introduced my son to his humor as well, He became as big of a fan as I. We both will miss him dearly.
You are a national treasure. Thankyou for all your wisdom. The laughter will now be held upstairs to the right. Our prayers are with your family.
Too young too soon
With a tear in my eye I will laugh because you made me smile~~~~~~who else could put Jesus and pork chops together. So irreverently hilarious, sarcastic, intelligent wit...Miss you already...
We'll miss ya George. You always made us laugh, we loved your comedy. God Bless! May You rest in Peace.
You made your mark, sir Carlin. I loved your delivery, however irreverent.:)
And guess what? There's a riddle of character merging because our church pastor is a spiritual version of you! No. Not kidding. Name is Bret Nicholson from Bethel Temple Church in Indiana. I got the featured story if anyone wants it.
Anyhow, hope you're where I'm going one day.
You were, & always will be the "Original Piece of Work!"
Ever since I heard "STUFF," I have reminisced & relived the routine in it's entirety....Everytime driving by a yard sale or walking into my garage, you were in my thoughts....
Thank you for your genius sense of humor !
My thoughts are with his family and friends.
George Carlin, you are now in front row of this freak show we call world!!! Enjoy!!!
I was shocked to hear George Carlin died, especially since last week I had sent one of his suggestions to friends. I always enjoyed what he had to say, because so often he was on target. He was the best, really.
I loved George Carlin! God bless him. His quotes were great! R.I.P. George.
What a sad day.. I will miss George and his funny ways, thank you for always making me laugh, we need more people in our world like George! I saw him in March in Boston he was terrific and I am so lucky to have seen him live.
What a funny funny Man,,you will be missed,,My condolences to the Carlin family,,,God Speed
A TRULY FUNNY MAN...WILL BE MISSED ALWAYS..
We have lost a great man! I followed his whole career and loved every moment of it. My heart goes out to his family. Thanks George for a billion laughs!
In Memory of George Carlin: George, George, we will miss you! I first recalled seeing you on the Tonight Show with your black suit and tie. You were hilarious. Although I live in Fort Worth now, sorry I did not have the privilege of growing up there to hear you often. Many condolescences to your loved ones left behind and may you rest in peace.
To Mr Carlin's family I say thank you - for sharing him with us for so many years...To George I say thank you SIR for all the wet underwear, boxes of soggy Kleenex, and rib pain to kill a horse!!!! I would love to have dinner some night on the other side.....give 'em hell - save me a seat
As a young Black Man now in his 50's i grew up listening & laughing with this great man ,my heart goes out to his family,he lived to serve his purpose in life that was to bring JOY into others lives.Rest in peace GC
George, you were comedic genius of your day. I enjoyed your style of comedy and had a lot of laughs over the years. Thank you for the memories of laughter. May god bless you and your family during there time of grief.
with deepest sympathies Don Benjamin & Family
My favorite contemporary philosopher. Thanks for saying what so many of us thought but could not articulate. The world will not be the same without you.
We will miss your great presence here on Earth.Peace be with you!
I grew up in the 70's listening to Carlin on Reel to Reel. Such a wonderful comedian. God Bless my prayers are with your family.
When I was 15 I bought George's album FM/AM and that did it for me. A fan for life. George will always be remembered as an innovator and way ahead of his time. I use his quotes and still giggle when he talks about the nuns in Catholic school since I too went to Catholic school. We’ll miss ya George… keep em laughing in Heaven!
George Carlin was THE best comedian ever...clever, honest and witty don't begin to describe how talented he was. My most sincere and deep condolences to his family and friends. Heaven will be a funnier place with George in it! Rest in peace.
An unbelieveble man so smart yet so funny thats rare. He solved things that the american people couldnt he put things in perspective. I first George Carlins comedy online and on my ipod not long after i love Napalm & Silly Putty and all his other books but i first heard George Carlins voice on Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends in 1994-1998 he was perfect for it and i always thought that he was a good person for accepting that job with his comedy career so big. I may only be 14 but i know good comedy when i hear it and i hear it a lot my i pod has nothing but Carlin.
Rest in Peace buddy we'll all miss you.
GEE.....HE WAS JUST HERE A MINUTE AGO!!!! THOSE ARE THE WORDS HE WANTED EVERYONE TO REMEMBER HIM BY. I HONOR YOU, GEORGE.
I remember seeing you for the first time on t.v. playing the Hippy Dippy Weather Man. Fell in love with you. You will be missed. Say hi to God for me.
You amazed and delighted me as a comedian but most importantly, you amazed and delighted my son when you portrayed "Thomas The Tank Engine". The many level of imfluences will obviously shine on through the decades. Thank you.
I listen to him and learn a lot. He was my favorite. Watch him on Actors Studio. He answer when he get to the heaven gates. Now we are going to have some fun. He made me laugh through out the years. Now just got to buy his laughter on dvd's. So I can keep on going. Candice Hunter Lincoln, Illinois.
Thanks for the many years of laughter. You were one of a kind.
You were a very funny guy. Keep smiling and keep on telling your jokes in heaven......
In very loving memory of my favorite "Modern Man". I never met George Carlin, yet I felt like I knew him. His humor will never be replaceable. Genius comes in many forms and George was a true genius when it came to practical thinking. QUESTION EVERYTHING! I love you George Carlin, now and always!
What a tragic loss! All the great ones are leaving us! Godspeed George! No one could make me
laugh like you could!
You have made me laugh so many times with your sheer brilliance in stating the obvious and your ability to make people think about the things we dont like to mention. You will be missed by all that apreciated you.
Comedian,philosopher,witty and hilarious. Always made you think,not just laugh. George,you will never be replaced. Truly one of a kind. I will continue to listen to your "stuff". RIP George. You are a legend.
You taught me to question the things I was afraid to question; maybe not so much because I didn't know how to on my own, but because I was afraid to. Thanks for the memories George.
Thanks for all the wonderful laughs. You always made me laugh and I never was offended because it was you! God Bless You, George Carlin!
REST IN PEACE GEORGE CARLIN
The "Seven words" came out while I was in high school...I played the album so much, even today I can repeat whole sections of it....what an impact?
Did I agree with everything? No...but it sure was funny...rest easy...hippe dippee weather man...
You will be gretly missed!! You made me laugh and think about my daily life situations, and I must say, you are right. I will always be a fan of your humor and insight on life, but the good news is you didn't die, you just simply past away. RIP George, keep em' laughing in heaven!
You were one of a kind! We loved you for many years! May you now make all the angels laugh in heaven!
I had the pleasure of seeing george preform in 1982. What a show. Had me in stiches for days after.R.I.P. George nock them out in heaven...
A symbol of realism, truth and sincerity. A lifetime dedicated to helping others understand "the real deal", mister Conductor is leading that train in heaven, and not looking down at us, for those who saw something in his teachings, already know what to do. Thank you, Mr. George Carlin.
George's humor and personality had a way of making me feel like I knew him. He made me laugh until I cried. Now I am only crying because he is gone.
Truly one of the worlds funniest people! You will so be missed.
I was shocked to hear the news of George's passing,as another great comedian,and former New Yorker has left us. As i think of all the past comedians of my time at the ripe ole age of 55, i'm not amazed at the praises people from all over are bestowing on George.Yes!, George was insightful,sarcastic,political,had a sword for a tongue,with his playing of words to describe a certain situation of a certain moment. He talked to his audience in a way that they could understand and relate to,which was his genious. He comes from a long list of Great Comics of the past. He belongs to a certain group that would comprise to the likes of Lenny Bruce,Richard Pryor,John Belushi,Rodney Dangerfield,Milton Berle,George Burns,Groucho Marx and i could go on.Most were rebels when it came to the establishment and were'nt afraid to speak their minds,only they made it sound funny.Unfortunately in today's society of mediocrity,it is a sad day when we lose one of such talent and insight,because the talent does'nt seem to be coming out as frequently in this day and age. Yes, George will be sorely missed because he was one of a kind.To his family,I hope you will look on the passing of George not as a loss,but as a gain in that he has filled your lives with his presence,with his love towards you all,his mentoring,his understanding,and all of the wonderful things that made up the man known as George Carlin.
You will be missed, George. One of your early albums was one of the first I bought for myself with my own money. I don't think you knew how many lives you touched.
My husband is in mourning yet again.
Last weeks death of Tim Russert has not set in yet, and here we heard of yet another icon leaving us.
Our prayers and deepest sympathy to his family and friends
John and Deborah Roelandts
What a courageous human being to be able to step outside the box, force us to look at ourselves and make us laugh (often hysterically) that was truly a God given talent. Thank you George for all those years of allowing us to laugh with you.
I remember seeking to watch his stand up after my parents went to bed when i was a kid. He was a good man spending his time making us laugh and think. A legend forever. We'll miss you.
Thank you for your comedic insightfulness. We will miss you. Maybe, where ever you go after this life, they just needed you to bring some good laughs. Go get 'em!
Well George it's finally time to rest. I've enjoyed each dvd and every show you've shared with the world. I wish more people would use their common sense and understand what it was you were trying to do: making people THINK for themselves.
Thank you for your wisdom and rest in peace.
On behalf of your European fans...
You were the man, George!
Rest in Peace!
I'm gonna miss you. Even though the things you said were funny, they were so true to life. I still think Gas Station Bathrooms are locked cause their scared someone will clean them. Thankyou for making us all laugh-rest in peace my friend .
From One of your many Fans-Donna
You always knew how to take it to the limit, and then bring it back at just the right time. You made me laugh, squirm, and think. You would have made a great president. You even made my dog laugh!!!
George, Your the Greatest!!
He made me laugh so hard at times tears would spill onto the pages making it hard to read. I more than once had to watch when I ate or drink, for fear of laughing too hard and having it come out of my nose at dinner.
George you were a staple in my household and my family will always remember you. Your comedy is a legacy often imitated and quoted by others but never with the same edgy wit you could give them.
You will be missed and love to your family who knew you best.
One of the great minds of our time, thanks for the laughs.
Thank you for the laughs. Laughter got me through some tough times and your matter-of-fact humor was the very BEST.
You are most DEFINITELY missed.
Rest in peace.
I was so sadden when i heard you left us, George.
Thanks for years of making me laugh, your humor is one of a kind and will surely be missed!
Thanks for the memories! God bless you! You will be missed dearly! To the family, your in my prayers!
Loved you since the '60's. My favorite comedian of all time. You will be truly missed and adored forever. The world just won't be the same without you.
I'm still in shock at the passing of such a huge personality. He made us all laugh. He made us all think. He was a geiger counter of the human condition, telling it like it really is because we needed it to hear it. He left us with so many gifts and we are so much better for him having been here to speak his piece. Thank you "Uncle George" for everything. R.I.P.
George was one of the all time greats. He's a huge legend of my generation and a wonderful comedian. George really told it like it is. It's amazing how he made fun of things that we do everyday but none of us.ever really thought of it like that until he brought it to our attention. Then, most of us would scratch our heads and say "oh yeah". Losing George is a big loss to the entertainment industry.
Dear Carlin Family, My name is matt i woke up this morning to find out that my favorite comedian had died. George Carlin was simply the greatest of all time i own almost every special and album he recorded and seen him live when he did the "Life is Worth Losing" special and I dont think I ever laughed so hard in my life no matter how many times I hear or see his specials I laugh myself sick every time. Once again I'm sorry for your loss he was a great man and the greatest comedian of all time.
George Carlin was not only a comedian, but a great philosopher with, "bad words" added. He was the latter day Mark Twain. What an absolute loss. I wish I had shared my admiration for him before his death.
GEORGE!! I cannot believe it...memories of being about 6 and watching the Hippy Dippy Weather man on Flip Wilson...and then growing up and having the mind opening pleasure of seeing you in person...Happy Trails...
George Carlin was the best of the best, and will remain so, in our memories of him. In keeping with his beliefs, which I respect, I will not pretend he's gone to a "Sky Daddy". You had a great run, George. I'll truly miss you and your great intellect.
I saw George in the 60's He was one of the great comedians of all time..My heart goes out to his family..We have lost one of the Great Ones...........
WOW this earth will never be the same without you ...I grew up on Carlin now I know for sure when I hear the thunder its you making everyone up in heaven roar...you will remain forever in my heart and soul ....thoughts and prayers to the family .
You made us look at ordinary things in a completely different way and for that I thank you. You will be missed but will live on in our hearts and minds.
You made high school bearable for me in the late 70's when we would eat lunch listening to your routines. Your perspectives on religion have also meant a lot to me. Hopefully, someone took your DNA and we can clone you in order to introduce the next generation to some great perspective and awesome belly laughs. Rest in Peace my friend
Love to you, Kelly and thank you for sharing your Dad with all of us for so, so many years. There is no one more brilliant, no one funnier and no one as generous with his incredible art as your Dad. To some of us, he will never really be gone; just away for a bit researching some new material for later. Hardest working man in comedy!
Have a good rest, sweet man ...
... and Kelly, we are thinking of you.
Dear Friend - I will miss your great sense of humor and your sometimes mischeivous ways you used to get attention. You told me back in 1974 to always stand up for what I believe in, and always push the freedom of speech, given to me while broadcasting, to the utmost limits. I've followed your advice. I had hoped to see you again soon, but God needed you now. I'll greatly miss you here and meet you on the other side.
George Carlin: You became a household name, just like Johnny Carson, Ann Landers, and all the other rare jewels of the late '60s and '70s I "grew up" with during those times. I say "grew up", because that's exactly what you helped us to do, with your total honesty and outlook on the world. We will miss your God-given humor and talent most terribly, and a piece of our hearts go with you. Maybe you might be asking that "Big Guy" up there, now,what the H--- is going on "down here". I'm sure YOU will find the right words to ask, or course. There aren't many geniuses in comedy, like you anymore, and you'll always bring a smile to our faces when we remember some of your skits in comedy. What a guy...what a guy.
George is one of my heroes. And a hero for everyone who speaks the unpopular truth. You will always be loved, missed and remembered, Georgie.
Thanks for making us laugh, George..you were great!!
I saw George Carlin at Westbury Music Fair and he was great. He will be greatly missed. I bet he is cracking jokes at the pearly gates.
You made us laugh, and in those moments the world stood aside.
I am still obsessed about ensuring I have a place for my "stuff".
Laugh-on ol' man.
prayers are with the family!
The world loss a GREAT man! A very sad day and a VERY sad loss!
Prayers are with the family.
The world just got a little less funny. You will always be one of the greatest!
We will surely miss your one of a kind

"Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show" will never be the same without George. He was a funny comedian. I appreciate your humor and wit. I put you and Richard Pryor at the top of my list of great comedians of all time! God bless you!
You set new limits when it comes to comedy. Our world will never be the same without you. I won't ever say any of the 7 forbidden words without a kind thought about you. Thanks, ol pal! Tell Richard I said Hi!
we will miss you george!! I spent most of my life laughing at your awsome shows. you are the master. God bless you!!
George. there is no way that I can put my feelings into words. You and your comedy have played a integral part in my life and the lives of my friends. I can only say thank you to your family and friends as we took time from them to have you amuse us. You will never be replaced. Your intelligent and irreverant humor has left an indelible mark on me. Rest in peace my friend. John - PS I am sure that if you were still with us that you would mock my entry.
you brilliant, funny man.
God Bless you, thank you for all the laughs. We will miss you old fellow!
Although george will be sadly missed, his message will live on.
To the TRUE King of Comedy,
You will always be remembered.
Another Master of Comedy is gone..
Another great voice has faded. Who will bring to life Thomas the Train for my child..
George did you bring "your stuff" and you "almost made it to 72".
In our heart and in our minds you will remain with so many.
Are you watching us and laughing right now.. Good you deserve a good chuckle :)

You were a very useful engine (you'll know what I mean)! As Mr. Conductor, my children were introduced to your kindness. You've left way too soon, George. You will be missed.

You were the greatest!
You will be missed!
Thank you for making my laugh out loud for the past 25 years. Guess I don't need HBO anymore.
Say 'Hi' to my grandmother. We watched you when I was 13. Please explain some of the words...
You will be missed! I remember when I was 8 years old my brother and my Dad took me to see you live at he Circle Star theater , I have been a fan ever since! It's hard to say goodbye, until we hear the laughter in the sky.
Dog gone it, anyway...the master has left for other lands.
George was as fearless a comedian as they come. Great guy who had me quoting him after the first time I heard one of his recordings.
Two quotes it seems he wanted to be remembered with after he left.
"He was here a minute ago."
"The Big Electron... It just is, and so are we. For a little while"
You made us all laugh at ourselves.
I'll bet you have them all laughing up there , too!
A great talent..sorely missed here on Earth.
THANKS FOR THE LAUGHS....I HAVE ONE THING TO SAY "ARISTOCRATS" .... YOU WILL BE MISSED
thanks for the laughs George.
I went to many of his shows and always had the thrill of non-stop laughing. His use of words was just great, there isn't a comic out there now that comes close. rest in peace, we'll miss you George
In addition to great comedy, George was a wonderful actor. His role in the Barbra Streisand film, The Prince of Tides, was so perfectly played and so enjoyable. He was a talented guy and we will miss his wit and wisdom (along with all the laughs).
Thanks for keeping so many smiles on so many faces in so many places. You will be missed by the many fans you had. God Bless old friend.
You were the best on Earth, now you are the best on another plane.
We knew you would have to go....we just didn't think it would be now.
Im not big on stand up but i loved growing up to him being Mr. Conducter on that one show i dont remember the name or anyone else that was on it! But i sure do on him!RIP you will be missed!
i will never forget the hippy dippy weather man.
Can not find the words to express the impact you have made in my life, I ALWAYS look at the bright side of things and laugh when at all possible haven't seen you live since the 70's, but from that day on you were in my heart and kept a smile on my face !!
George, I miss you already... :(
The world will never see another man of his comedic genius. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.
A loss of a great comedian. Thanks for all the laughs. God bless you and your family.
I loved George Carlin. He spoke of common things we really never thought about much. But when he talked about them, we would all say, "hey, that's right". I think he is the best comedian EVER. The world will miss him dearly. Rest in Peace, George.
What a legend! There are no words to describe our loss of this man. Of course, he's keeping the angels laughing out loud now. Ah!...The Hippy-Dippy Weather Man! I think of George's commentary constantly of why everyone seems to be walking around drinking bottled water these days. Why didn't they get a drink before they left the house? He was an absolute master of his craft. What an enormous talent!!
Sincere condolences to all of his family. May you find comfort in your memories in the days, months and years ahead. Don't worry, we'll never forget him.
Thank you, George. You could always leave me shaking my head and saying to nobody in particular, "the man makes sense". But above all else...you could ALWAYS leave me laughing. Rest in peace, my friend.
to the family of george carlin-
he will be missed.
we thank him for giving us the gift of laughter.
he was so funny as being the hippie.
God be with you and take care of you. sincerely, alma
Rest in peace George.
Thanks for the laughs
My cousin George, you will truly be missed I'm sure mommom and poppop are enjoying your humor in heaven. Love your family in Florida.
The only time I ever saw George Carlin "live" was at a show he had at the University of Arizona's Centennial Hall in the early 1990's. I bought one of his t-shirts that they were selling. I'll never wear it now.
He was one of my favorite comedians. We will miss him.
Thank you for the laughs, So, I wonder if God enjoyed your version of the 10 commandments.. I bet he did.. your memory and laghter wil be remebered forever..
George Carlin, you were the funniest comedian I ever heard. As a young girl, I was first impressed with your brilliance--your lyrical rhymes and observations on everyday life. Man, I'm gonna miss you. Can't wait to find out if God thought you were as funny as I did!
Thank you George for the humor you brought into this world. You will be greatly missed by all. God Speed buddy!
The world has lost the master of funny, Mr. George Carlin, whose unique talent turned the obvious and mundane into hilarity. Thank you, George, from the bottom of our hearts for the many times you brightened our days. God bless you and keep you in His care. Our condolences to your family as well.
I feel like part of me has died. God Speed.
Rest In Chaos George. I know you'd probably rather have that. You were the best comedian of all time and I will miss you greatly. The good die old too.
Here's to a man who in one breath could tell children a story about a little steam engine named Thomas and in the next give us the 7 dirty words you can't say on television.
You will be missed but your legend lives on forever.
I am truly sorry for your loss. He was one of our greatest comedians, I grew up totally enjoying his work.
I always admired you for telling the truth when it was needed to be said.
You will be missed and may your family continue to be strong and proud.
As an "older woman" George's comedy was the one thing I could share with my 17 year old nephew. George Carlin has been our favourite
comedian many years. As for George, we will not see his like again.
one of a kind, the best, the mould was broken long ago
Rest in Peace George. Thanks for the laughs.
I (and the world) lost one of my favorites yesterday. I have watched, enjoyed and quoted George Carlin since I was a pre-teen in the 60's. I used to love to watch him on HBO, as you never knew what was coming. What a great observer of human kind.
Wouldn't you LOVE to hear the questions he's asking God tonight??
My clock radio woke me up with the sad news of his passing. I had to take a "grown up" with me to buy my first George Carlin Album. Many memories. George, you left us too soon! We will miss you dearly. My heartfelt sympathy to the Carlin family.
George Carlin was the most ingenius (sp) comedian and men of our time. I will never forget the first time I heard the "Seven Words" bit. I had to watch it again on the internet again today when I heard the news. My Condolences to his family and friends. He is a great man and will be missed.
The world will miss your humor.
What more can be said of this man. A true comedic genius who made laughter a trademark whenever he spoke. Once again the world has lost something truly precious and someone we so needed to make life better as history will keep proving. Keep the angels laughing George, so loud we can hear them here on earth.
George was one of the greatest comedian's of all time. You will be missed & my condolences to your family.
A truely brilliant man . His commentary will be sorely missed . He tried to get us to look at ourselves and our world through crystal clear , laser focussed observations . He was here for us , he did his job extremely well . Unfortunately we weren't listening close enough to see the truth he spoke . When you get past the humor of his work (which is incredibly funny) you get to the truth of society . We didn't get it in his lifetime , but there still is a chance to get it together . If for no other reason than to thank him for the life he gave to us .
Rest in peace .
You were great,you will be missed. We all loved you, rest in peace.
He was a good person and will be missed by everyone. People were lucky to have him here to make us smile. My prayers are with the family.
My sympathies to the Carlin family. George will always be one of the ICONS of comedy. His ability with the english language as a comedy tool is unmatched.
Rest in Peace George, a man who made history, what a great place to be! Keep them laughing and I will look you up when I get there.
George Carlin revolutionalized stand up comedy and will be the best there ever was. To George, you will be sadly missed. Long live the seven words.
You know, Mr. Carlin not only did not believe in god, he probably would be drafting material about this guest book! :) He will be sorely missed. The San Francisco Improv Festival dedicates our entire festival on his life during his very sad "Terminal Episode"
TO THE CARLIN FAMILY, YOU HAVE MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES. WITH GOD'S BLESSINGS ALWAYS.
ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE, I SAY WOW!!....ALL THE LEGENDS ARE GOING!....AS GEORGE CARLIN USED TO SAY,"WOW! THIS IS A TRIP MAN!"
A TRUE COMEDIAN IN HIS OWN RIGHT! HE ALWAYS SPOKE HIS MIND AND MADE YOU THINK....HMMMMMM!! AND THEN YOU BUST UP LAUGHING EVERY TIME!
I ALWAYS LIKED THE JOKES HE DID ABOUT PEOPLE MOVING FROM PLACE TO PLACE EACH TIME WITH "MORE STUFF". AND THE JOKE ABOUT THE ONE-ARMED MAN WHO WAS IN A ROW BOAT WHO KEPT ROWING AROUND IN CIRCLES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAKE! HA! HA! HE WAS GOOD!.........R.I.P.
I got hooked on George about 16 years ago when I watched a tape of his comedy my sister had. I am also very glad I was able to see him live, it was one of the best comedy concerts I have ever seen. George, you will be missed, but at least you will finally have everything you lost back
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. He will be sorely missed.
He was the first intelligent funny man in my life.
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
I absolutely loved him in "Bill and Ted" he was a very funny man and my sons and I watched "Thomas the tank" all the time. my condolences to his family.
George Carlin one of comedy's most precious forms of medicine for laughter. His facial expressions to the sound of his voice.Truly a sad loss to the world.Our condolences to his family.
I will never forget a show I heard years ago where he was talking about things in the refridgerator. It is cake? Or is it meat cake? My husband lost it. And it became a common saying amoung our peers.
Thank you for the Laughter!
i was looking forward to seeing him live this year in boston but i was heart broken when i heard the news of his passing. my heart goes out to the carlin family and let it be said that george was a brilliant man with a funny soul.he will be sadly missed but never forgoten. good by george and maybe some day i'll see your concert in heaven
I’m a rude dude, but I’m the real deal. Lean and mean! Cocked, locked and ready-to-rock. Rough, tough and hard to bluff. I take it slow, I go with the flow, I ride with the tide. I’ve got glide in my stride. Drivin' and movin', sailin' and spinin', jivin' and groovin', wailin' and winnin'. I don’t snooze, so I don’t lose. I keep the pedal to the metal and the rubber on the road. I party hearty and lunch time is crunch time. I’m hangin' in, there ain’t no doubt and I’m hangin' tough, over and out!"
~George Carlin, a comedic genius and poet extraodinaire
Farewell George, old friend.....
I enjoyed his Intelect, Performances, and COMEDY. Although in the 70's I was entering high school, buying albums were a mighty considerable investment. 45 RPM singles were more economically affordable. The stores in the Newport News and Hampton areas of Virginia RARELY
carried any Novelty or Comedy 45's until it became a hit.
I did not fully look into Carlin's Discography during my researches of various artists, but just as some record labels released some stand-up comedy singles to radio stations (although edited when necessary) there must be some out there. I do not want the 7 words. I play these records in "family" atmospheres.
George Carlin's guest appearances on the FLiP Wilson Show were the best. I loved his characters, too.
I regret I was not able to see him in concert near here.
All the good comedians are begining to leave us.
rip george from a great fan and you are still the best
The best ever - no one else even comes close.
rest in peace George
The whole world will feel the saddness of not having George Carlin among us.
I have been a fan of George Carlin from the first time I saw him on TV many years ago.
My sympathy goes out to his family on their huge loss.
A brilliant man who made me laugh when I was down and had a way with words that no other comedian will ever have.. We will all miss and remember all of the good times... My condolences to his family and close friends.. We all have lost a good man....
I grew up listening to his wonderful insight and truely changed the way I think.
"Bet is doesn't look like dat in the cook book ma"
You will be missed George!!!!!! Best Wishes in your new life wherever that may be!
soryy for the loss of a great man and comedian.
I was heartbroken to hear about George. I have loved and admired him for many, many years. My condolensences to his family. His comedic talents are embedded for the ages.
MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE CARLIN FAMILY. GEORGE AND I WERE ROOM MATES IN THE AF A BARKSDALE IN SHREVEPORT. HAD MANY GOOD TIMES. WAS WITH HIM WHEN HE GOT THE JOB AT KJOE -I WILL MISS HIM EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT HAVE DAILY CONTACT WITH HIM--BONGO
What a tragedy here on Earth to lose such a funny and well loved man ~ Heaven is enjoying his wild antics now.
To the family of George Carlin, I just wanted to send & express my condolences to the family. This is such a difficult time. However, also a wonderful time to reflect on the many happy memory’s that was shared with George. What have helped me when loosing a love one was 2Cor 1:3,4 " Blessed be the god and father of tender mercies and the god of all comfort." I pray that this will bring you a measure of peace in your heart.
REST IN PEACE, GEORGE CARLIN
The world has just lost a wonderful man who gave the world such laughter and a unique but wonderful outlook on life. Everyone loves him for the 7 words you can't say on t.v., but my favorite is the one about your "stuff". Thank you for the laughs!
Well, at least I know my dad is getting a good laugh in heaven now! Godspeed, George! Godspeed! Thanks for all the belly laughs!
The special moments of life experiences and the great laughs that George shared with all of us on earth will be forever remembered till we get to meet him again in God's Kingdom. You're in our prayers.
Thank you for many years of entertainment and for teaching me those seven words. Heaven just gained an entertainer. Say hello to my dad.
I always considered George Carlin a personnal friend of mine of sorts. After watching him on reruns of older tv shows from the 60's and 70's I purchsed some of his work on cassette and lp records as soon as I was old enough to do so. His humor finds its home in everyday life and situations of what most people go through in their daily lives. I first saw him in the 1990's live at the music circus tent in Cohasset Ma. One of my closest friends was with me and he had laughed so hard during the show, he actually had pain in his chest area and such. George's special's and stand up on dvd are some of the funniest ever produced and I watch them as often as I can. He lived a long time and his legacy will not be surpassed for a long time. He was literally a comic genious and one of the greatest ever to ever perform stand up. As George venture's into the afterlife, I am sure he will have a lot of laugh's watching us go through our normal live's and maybe now he believe's there is an afterlife ? No way, not George, well who know's. Anyway, Rest in Peace, George ! You will be missed by all.
MAN,YOU ARE THE GREATEST I LOVED YOUR SHOWS
My first favorite comedian as a kid with the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman act and my favorite comedian as an adult with his razor sharp definition of life today, George Carlin was one of the greatest of all time! He will be so greatly missed. I am glad he knew of the Mark Twain award before he passed. The word turns a little slower today without the energy of that intellect.
i have seen him on hbo and loved him. he has the right message for all.
My condolences to the Carlin family. George's many talents (comedy being what he's best known for) were far reaching, and impacted millions of people. George will be dearly missed.
your humour lighted up many people's lives..you will be missed!
Thanks for all the laughs!
George Carlin will be missed by every one. My wife and I want to express our deepest sympathy to his Family. May God Bless you George where ever you are.
I heard the sad news last night and my heart is very heavy.
I have been a George Carlin fan for as long as I can remember, 30 plus years. I got to see him twice, once in 1975 and once in Vegas in 1994.
My fav advice from George is:
"Never lend money to a man bleeding from both ears."
He also pointed out, the first time I saw him, is that the name George goes on forever, G E O R G E O R G E......Ain't it the truth...
I, for one will miss him forever....
My deepest condolences to his family.
Thank God we have your albums! And now you have the Big Guy to perform for. Better stick to the clean stuff, though. We're gonna miss you, but your spirit will always be here. Godspeed!
I saw George Carlin in Reno, Nevada back in the 90's. It was a show I will never forget! He definately knew how to keep the audience laughing.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Carlin family at this difficult time.
Rest In Peace, George.
George was funny every now and then. I guess we need someone like that to make us think. Well to all you wishing him god speed and so on, I guess you did know that he did not believe in god. Well good by george were every you are!
I've seen George on stage 3 times, all in different decades of his career.
You've just got to love sense of humor...or you don't know what funny is!
Go in peace George, until we meet again!
I'm absolutely gutted by the news. George's keen observations and brilliant use of language was accessible to all senses of humor. He's a truly gifted human being who has been one of my favorites since I first saw him on HBO almost 30 years ago.
I got the chance to see him live at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City July 18th, 2004. It was the best thing possible. I never laughed or cried so hard at his jokes as I did that night. I keep the ticket stub to this day as luck. That night I heard him say the poem "A Modern Man" for the first time, before he did it on HBO or before the book "When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops". Thank you George for all the laughs and tears.
I grew up listening to George. Everytime he was on tv I made sure to watch him over and over again.There were so many times I laughed so hard I peed myself. What a great thing to be able to do,to make someone so happy. We will miss that sharp wit. We love you George.
George Carlin was a genius, one of the great comedic minds of all time, and my personal favorite. I saw him perform in-person many years ago at the old Mill Run Theatre in Niles, Ill.. His ability to make us all laugh hysterically will keep him an enduring legacy.
Thank you George for being who you were.
Your humor will make us laugh forever. Rest in peace.
The seven words you can't say on TV was my first and favorite album. When I was 11, I'd stay up late at night and listen to it on my little record player. My mother hated it and eventually took it from me and threw it away. Thanks, George, for extending my vocabulary at such a young age. You were the best and will be missed.
RIP George... Bless your soul. You'll be missed, but your comedy will live forever.
Thanks for the laughs. We will definitely miss your humor. You were one of a kind.
Rest in Peace and God Bless!
We saw George in St Louis years ago and still laugh today remembering the show! There is laughter in Heaven; may you rest in peace.
thoughts and prayers to the carlin family....George Carlin; icon, hero...you will be missed
The world is definitely a sadder place today without you. You made it ok to talk about so many of the taboos we have in society today. Thank you so much for your contribution to the world.
Mark Twain once wrote: I think we never become really and genuinely our entire and honest selves until we are dead--and not then until we have been dead years and years. People ought to start dead, and they would be honest so much earlier.
George, I believe you would have changed Mr. Twain's mind in the way you lived your life. Good for you!
What a gift we have lost.
I saw Geroge in Vegas in the early 90's. He walked on stage and his first line was, "Why is it that 'Right-To-Lifers' are people you wouldn't want to 'BLEEP' anyway?" It was a classic Carlin moment! He was an original, great, American Comic and philosopher. George, we will miss you .....
DJ Paul Marshall on KQRC is doing a tribute to Mr. Carlin this afternoon & playing excerpts from many of his routines. I am laughing through my tears. He is gone much too soon. Goodbye, funny man.
I've been crying on and off all day. The only other time I actually, in my adult life, remember having cried for a famous person I didn't actually know was when I found that Jim Henson had passed. Both men made me laugh like hell... both died too early. (Jim was younger than George, but I think I expected George to keep spouting the obscene truth into ancient senescence, and I am so sad that it will not be so.) Rest in peace... you will be missed.
This is a tough day for all of us who are just a little off center and a little bit out side the box. The man with the never ending name, who has made us laugh for so long, is now going to missed for a very long time. Thank you for pointing out the funny.
Oh George, we cannot believe that you have really left us. Our cosmic question is this: were you finally reunited with all of your "stuff"? You will be sorely missed -- thank you for all the years of insight and laughter. (And say hello to Johnny for us.)
It is hard to lose someone who can make us laugh at ourselves, and I don't think he ever meant to offend with his words, Just make us look and listen to all that is going on around us. So long George.
I saw you in Orlando many years ago and you were great!! In my book you will always be great and your comedy wil go on just like your first name(GEORGE..ORGE...ORGE as you mentioned in your act that night. Keep em laughin up there George. My most sincere sympathy to your relatives and friends around the world. Keep George in your hearts like I willl, always. WFC
You made us think with your comedy and you made us laugh. You will be missed.
My sincerest condolences to George's family. He was one of the best comedians who did not go with the flow and spoke his mind thru laughter. He will be sorely missed.
Rest In Peace, George. Thank you for many years of laughter, may it carry us far into this unknown future. You will be greatly missed.
He'll be missed I grew up listening to him he was blessed with a great sense of humor. God speed.
To the Carlin family, My heart goes out to you at this time of loss and sorrow of George Passing On To the Big Stage in Heaven. I can only imagine The comedy routine he is giving his audiance up there. I have Loved George and his humor most of my life. I first saw him do the Hippie dippy weather man routine. after seeing him do that, I was a forever fan of his. he was a blessed man in his life. and I feel blessed to have had him in my life time as a great entertainer to enjoy. He Will live forever in our hearts and minds. he was one of a kind that is for sure. We are going to miss you George. Now keep them all laughing at the pearly gate theater. rest in hevenly peace dear George. God speed.
Wow I cannot believe that you are gone. May God Bless you and your family. We will defintely miss you! You always made me laugh and laugh often. RIP
I'll miss my Hippy Dippy Weatherman. God Bless.
George Carlin took everyday life & situations & shone a humorous light on them so that we can all laugh at ourselves via his glorious sense of humor!! Heaven only knows that I never laughed so hard as when I was listening to him or reading his books. The world will be a sadder place without his comic genius.
You were the first stand up comic I saw and no one else has ever came close to matching your talent. You were truly a gifted person and gave so much of your self just to make us laugh. May God bless your family in this time of sorrow. Thank you again.
You were one of my favorite comedy guys. You made me laugh. You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thank you George for the many years of laughter. You made this world a better place. Condolences to your family and loved ones.
I can just see George standing in front of God saying "wait a minute YOU do exist!". To his family i know he is in a better place and you will see him again and we will all get to meet him one day also. RIP George
The best of the best, my hats off to you ! My sympathies are with the family.
am one of your biggest fans. In the bad times of my life I was blessed
by you. We lost one of if not the best comedy masters ever, This day
makes me so sad. May you bust up god with your jokes. Untill we met
again my friend
Thank you, George, for all the years of laughs. Everytime I open a loaf a bread and skip past the end pieces to get to the softer middle pieces, I think of you. :)
Two words, Jumbo Shrimp. Thanks for the laughs. Rest in Peace.
I grew up watching George Carlin. I was surprised when i heard that he had died today. I had just watched him on T.V.
George, I loved you deeply. Your honesty and way of telling was second to none.
George was a great comedian who touched me at an early age.
Thank-you George for all the laughs through all the years. I will remember you always, and love you forever,
Tonights forcast will be dark with you the Hippy Dippy Weatherman.
You will be missed.
My deepest sympathies for George's family. George was one of a kind and will be sorely missed.
The world is already a less funny place because you are not in it. I have & will never look at "stuff" the same again. Blessings to you and your family at this difficult time.
The world is a sadder place today with the passing of one of the men who made so many of us laugh so much. No one can take his place, but with luck, so of the comedians he inspired will make us laugh as much.
He is my favourite comic. His work is funny, familiar, charming, and above all else, insightful.
Thank you for all the laughs. You are truly one of the greats. May God Bless You, and your family.
George, what will they do with all your stuff?! 71 years is a lot of stuff! You had the right stuff, baby. Sorely missed, you will be.
All grace with Mr. Carlin's Family. He was a talented man who's ability to mirror to us our own foolishness was innovative, intellectual and enjoyable. His further works were even more impressive and I am gratefully that he made me and my children laugh.
George Carlin Was A funny man. Whom I Met on a couple of occations in the airport and at some of his shows and he will greatly missed by all.
A true staple in all that he did, and the kind of guy you always expect to be around. Truth is when thier gone, that's when you wish you would have paid more attention. He's a prime example of thinking outside the box, if your the same there's no magic. see ya George and thanks.
You provided so much laughter! Thank you for your insights. God speed!
Oh George, I miss you so. I catch you every time your on HBO. The great ones always die to young. You will be greatly missed by all. My best to your family I know they will cherish their memories as will the rest of us. Say Hi To Elvis.
Mr. Carlin was an innovator and a pioneer in comedy whether it was stand-up or in movies. Thank you George for everything.
God gave you a special gift while you were on this earth, to make people laugh! A gift well given. You'll be missed. You were one of a kind,not to be forgotten. Until later...
There will never be another like him. What an ingenious talent. Always good for a laugh, just a shame.
He was a great comedian and he will be truly missed by all.
A true comedic genius. His perspective helped me through many rough days. He will be missed.
I have always been a fan of George. Back about 17 years ago, my husband and I drove 2 hours in the fog to Bismarck, ND to see George perform. It was worth it. We were not disappointed. We'll miss ya George.
You were one of the first to educate the people about what is truly going on in government with brilliant humour. You will be truly missed.
Brilliant, different, razor sharp, the leader of my generation has left us. Who will point out the absurdities. Who will we count on for genius? God Bless you George, you beautiful Irish hippie. Rest easy brother. You will be sorely missed
You've brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard and today you bring tears to my eyes again...only in sadness. May you rock the house in Heaven!
My condolences to the family.
THE WORLD HAS LOST A FINE PERSON. HE MADE US LAUGH AND FORGET OUR TROUBLES. GOD BLESS HIM. HE WILL BE MISS VERY MUCH.
George, May you enjoy saying the "Seven Words" for the rest of eternity! Keep offending, it keeps us on our toes!
Mr. Carlin was one of a kind. He will be keeping them laughing in Heaven.
R.I.P George. Your brilliant comedy will be missed greatly.
Many of us were influenced in one way or another by the art of George Carlin. Though I never met the man in person, I had a a personal experience when a student told me his family was having Thanksgiving at "a secret place" since his Uncle George would be there. In questioning him, I realized he was the great-nephew of George Carlin! He was impressed that I knew who his Uncle George was and the next week, on my desk in the art room was a manila envelope with a personally autographed black and white photo from George Carlin! Once his book "Brain Droppings" came out, I got a copy and this young man's mother offered to send it to George to have it autographed for me. Those items are even more precious to me now on this day. Rest in peace, George. The world will never be the same due to your wit, wisdom and ability to point out the obvious!
I'm so sorry for your loss. He made me think, he made me laugh - he will be missed!
ahead of his time, but he paved the way for many more.
rest in peace mr. carlin.
you will keep them entertained and laughing in heaven.
When I heard...I said all of the 7 words!
I grew up listening to George.Most of my sense of humor came from his stand up.He was a philosopher more than comedian.He will be sorley missed.R.I.P. Mr. George Carlin, I love you.
George, you were a great influence on my life - thanks for all the giggles and outright guffaws !! Godspeed.
What a tragic loss. You will be missed, but thank you for all the laughs over the years. Rest in peace.
Thank you for bringing us so much fun, laughter and entertainment. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
HE was a GREAT Man.
And he told it like it was.
He will be miss.
My deepest sympathy goes out to Mr. Carlin's family and friends. He truly was the funniest person that I have every seen. I was sorry to hear that he has left us here on earth, but heaven has a new angel that will be looking down on us with smiles & laughter. Thank you Lord for blessing us with this special man.
God Bless You and rest in peace.
What a comedic genius. You will never be forgotten. You always spoke your mind and I think thats why you are well loved. R.I.P George!
There will never, ever be another like you! Thank you for being part of my lifetime.
The very first "concert" I ever went to was to see George Carlin at Foothill College way back in 1974. I was 13 and went by myself. What a great crowd, and what a fantastic show. After that I listened to everything I get from him. R.I.P.G.C.
The weird thing is, there's a part of me that wants to mourn George Carlin, and another part who knows that mourning would be the last thing he would ever want us to do. He'd want us to laugh and throw up a world wide finger in his honor. So today, I'm spending my time reading his words and remembering him for how much laughter and honesty he put into the world, and I'm refusing to be sad. He was all about laughter, not tears.
My sympathy and condolence go out to George Carlin's family during this most difficult time. He was a timeless and comedic genius who always had the gift of putting a smile on people's faces. Thank you George for your "spin" on life, your sense of humor, and your passion for the arts. You will never be forgotten. We will always hold you in our hearts and our memories. May you rest in peace.
George ...you were a gift to this world. You will be greatly missed. I was sooo sad to hear of your passing...may you rest in peace!!
I'm so sorry to see George Carlin has passed. He was a great comedian and there were many nights where my boyfriend and I watched many of his hilarious shows. My thoughts are with his family at this tough time as I know they have lost a very great person. His memory will always live on in my house.
A Man who will be missed... we love ya George
So very sad you had to leave us, George.
Thanks for all the side splitting laughs over the years. You truly broke the mould, baby!
Play nice with Jesus.
Although my kids cannot see the clips right now, I remembered one routine I will never forget involving the refrigerator. I still think "Is is meat or is it cake, or hmmmmm is it meat-cake?" He was very funny but my kids will have to wait to learn why I liked him so much. Maybe there will be D.V.D.'s of his best "Stuff" for us to keep the laughter going. Great Stuff!
Such a loss of a great comedic legend. We'll miss you George...
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I wish George would have ran for President. The world will miss and always remember him for speaking about everything we felt. God Bless
George Carlin is definitely one of my hero's. He made me think, he made me laugh. The world has lost a bright light indeed. Happy Trails to You George. I know the loss I feel and can only imagine how much more for his loved one's. Thanks for all you gave us George!
The world is a less funny place now that George is gone...I am too sad for words.
I always hoped Mr. Carlin would run for President. He would definitely get my vote!!
See you on the other side!
A brilliant mind, was loved very much for his quick wit. He will be missed. May he rest in peace. Thee will never be another George Carlin!
Great man of comedy, May the laughter continue on , where ever you are. Rest in Peace.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Carlin backstage before his show at the Valley Forge Music Fair in suburban Philadelphia in the mid-80s. He was polite, open and the consummate host. He had an elderly couple back whom he introduced as friends of his parents. He sat down and casually chatted and answered our questions, all the way up until it was time for him to go onstage. He waited for us to find our seats and then appeared onstage. Nary a curse word was uttered...
George, thank you for all the laughs over the many years I've been a fan. I own "Class Clown" on vinyl LP and that is what started it all for me back when I was about 12 years old. I was a fan ever since and I always will be. I'm just disappointed that I never had the chance to see a live show in person. Rest in peace, George.
He was the master of exploiting the obvious and a classic phrase repeater. I wonder what he would think about electronic guest books...His humor will be missed.
FROM THE FIRST TIME I SAW YOU GEORGE, I KNEW IT WAS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO LAUGH EVERY DAY. YOU INSPIRED ME AND AT 50, I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP MY DREAM TO DO STAND UP, IF JUST ONE TIME. HERE'S TO YOU GEORGE, YOU WILL BE MISSED
My sincere condolences go out to your family. You were a wonderful comedian and I enjoy watching you everytime you came on TV. God Bless you George.
laughter is the best medicine. You kept a lot of people healthy over the years. You will be sadly missed.
Our world will never be the same without your lighter insights and genuine humor. I miss you already!
This is truly a great loss to us all! My prayers and sympath go out the his family! Now he's making them laugh upstairs in Heaven!
I SPENT MANY HOURS AS A CHILD LISTENING TO GEORGE CARLINS WORKS OF GENIUS. HIS FAMILY IS IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.
George Carlin was a legend, he was a icon that left such a legacy of comedy for all of us to enjoy and appreciate, this is a truly sad day to have lost a great man, and a great comedian.
We'll hear the laughter when we approach Heaven - and there you'll be.
I've always maintained that the true experts on society are the comedians. If I'm right, this guy was the dean of the school of life. He will be missed.
My Sympathy to all of George's family. I grew up listening to George. He always made me laugh & think about the crazy world we live in.
George Carlin didn't die...he "passed away" after getting "older". :)
I quoted him last night at the grocery, unknowingly, around the time of his death. My boyfriend was buying cookies, and I told him he was going to just stare at the electric clock and eat that goddamn box of cookies.
What a great lesson he's left us all with: question the things around you, and look at language with a very critical eye.
George, I hope to see you when i leave this world.
"The older you get, the better you realize you were". I hope your life was long enough for you to realize you were the best, George. Say hi to my clan; they'll be happy to see you. My condolences to your family.
Thanks for the laughs George!
I was so saddened to learn of George Carlins passing. He was, I think, one of the best comedians the world has ever seen. He said the things that we all thought. His stand up routines on lifes every day absurdities were irreverent, but always right on the money.
So sad to see him go, there will never be another one like him.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Rest well old friend. You taught us all how to laugh and how to reason. Guess I will break out the old "Class Clown" recording tonight and salute you my way. You will be sorely missed.
George, I have adored you for decades since you first made me laugh back in the 70s when we were all "finding ourselves." I now cherish my "7 Words" record album of yours more than ever! Thank you for bringing me such joy and humor.
He will be truely missed. He was a comic genius! I saw him in person 2 times and I laughed till I cried. He always said he wan't the words "He was here a minute ago" on his tombstone. R.I.P. George
From age 8 (1970) I knew you were the funniest person ever! Thanks for staying that way for all these years.
New Orleans, Louisiana
"They call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to see it" - George Carlin.
I'll never forget your last stand up in NYC. See you in the next life, don't be late.
I will truly miss George. He was a genius comedian. My blessings are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
I used to sneek out of my bedroom when I was a kid and go put "On the Road" and "Class Clown" on the old turntable. It was my first introduction to George and I've loved his work ever since. Thanks for making me laugh and, more importantly, for opening my eyes to the hypocrisy, BS, and just plain silliness of people. Thank you, George. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We will miss George greatly! My most sincere condolences to his family. I have been watching him since his days on Ed Sullivan and his transition into the Hippy Dippy Weatherman on the Tonight Show. He has made me laugh my whole life. I and my family have loved him for years!
My son who recently turned 15 was old enough to watch this comedic genius with me, as I've been watching my whole life. My 10-year old daughter would even watch certain pieces of his show (the not too raunchy ones). Both of my children thought of him as absolutely hilarious, and we laughed together sometimes until our sides hurt. He will be missed, as there is not a current comedian this day and age that could match him. It's been a fantastic ride Mr. Carlin...thanks for the laughs over the years.
I always enjoyed your wit
Having watched you over the years on HBO...Johnny Carson..and Ed Sullivan Show
First heard about you, when you attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx..I had a cousin in of of your classes
I just wanna say you will be missed
God Bless you
I'VE BEEN A FAN ALL MY LIFE.
GEORGE CARLIN HAD THE BEST VIEWS ON EVERYTHING. HE WILL BE DEARLY MISSED
Loved your irreverent humor. Growning up Catholic gave you a lot to work with. Artists have their pulse on the times, you certainly did. You were a comedic genuis. We will never see the likes of you again. Bless you.
Two great voices of America silenced too soon - Tim Russert and George Carlin. Rest in Peace, guys and have a blast telling each other great stories!
George, being from Milwaukee, I have always carried the guilt of what they did to you here in 1972. I have loved your humor from Day one. Hope to see you when I get there...and I know now that you cant take the "stuff" with you when you go.
So sorry to hear that he passed away - we lost him too soon. I always enjoyed his sarcastic wit.
He's probably got them laughing in heaven already!
Godspeed Funny Man - surely you are one of God's newest angels.
TO THE CARLIN FAMILY:
YOU WIL BE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYER. WE LOVED GEORGE AND WATCHING HIM WAS ALWAYS A TREAT.
You'll be missed, George. You were truly one of the greats. I hope you're giving God a good laugh right now.
George, you will be dearly missed!
"Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent. Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak, and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind."
George, thank you for these words. I do my best to live by them and I can always read this and smile because you made some of the most complicated ideas sound so simple. You were right, George; "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
Fortunately I was able to see George at the Orleans last September 23, 07 in Vegas. He was George and he was great. The entire show was great and the laughter never stopped. His mind was unlike anyone elses and I wanted to remember everything he said,...but there was so much I couldn't. He will be missed but I'm happy that I got to see him.
MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY- GEORGE, YOU WERE ONE OF THE GREATEST AND WE WILL MISS YOU- THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE THINGS YOU WOULD SAY THAT MADE US ALL THINK MUCH DEEPER- YOU WILL BE MISSED.
Mr. Carlin was one of those rare individuals that could wrap thoughtful ideas in a fine layer of humor. I am very glad that he was recently selected to receive the Mark Twain award. That presentation will be a fitting tribute to a man who is the greatest satirist of the last 50 years. We will certainly miss his commentary, but should be glad that he left us such a great body of work.
Deepest condolences to all of his family.
A great revolutionary who will be missed.
George I know you are there watching and laughing.
George: You made us laugh a lot, sometimes made us want to cry, but always made us think. You will be sorely missed.
Well George, they didn't like my first entry. Oh the irony! Like I said before, the sun came up today. You know how reliable it is. And, I'll pray to Joe for you. You know how he gets things done! Thanks for a life time of laughter and the opportunity to stop and ponder.
A brilliant comedian and my favorite for many years.
Look forward to seeing you again in the next dimension.
Hope the "Invisible Man" has a great sense of humor too.
George Carlin, You are gone too soon. I go back to your humor constantly to get a fresh grip on life. Your observations on all things related to the human existence are timeless, and always bring smiles. I am so sad at your passing, and to your family, I give my condolences. What a legacy you have left. a legacy of laughter. Thank You.
We will miss him greatly.
You will dearly be missed...I loved
your books...I am sorry....Adele
When telling my friend Horace Gray that George Carlin had passed away he told me " The King is dead, long live the King" No truer words have been spoken.
Always my favorite comedian!
You made my Parents laugh, and my generatsion laugh too, Thanks for all your laughs, You are A LEGEND WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAKE THEM LAUGH ALSO.
Damn, the legends are going fast. RIP man.
George gave the most beautiful gift of all, the gift of laughter. Not to many comedians could do what he did, he made me laugh until I cried. His jokes were truths and thats what made them so funny. I will really miss you George. My thoughts our with the family. He was a well beloved man. In your honor I am going to praise our god, the sun.
R.I.P. A true human. sincere and bright.
R.I.P. GEORGE CARLIN WILL BE MISSED. THANKS FOR MAKING SO MANY PEOPLE LAUGH. AND YOU'RE MAKING SOMEONE LAUGH WHERE EVER YOU ARE NOW. IN YOUR HEAVEN!
I knew how special george was when i saw him in a theatre "mostly full of rich snobby people" in california. sensing that he proceeded to rip on golf-buisness men and corprate america. as the room slowly emptied because the truth was killing these folks i said to myself "theres my hero" my sympathy but more so my thanks to his family for sharing him ... theres a god in heaven now for sure his name is george carlin.....
I first saw George Carlin appearing on Rush Street in Chicago in the early 1960s, and, as one who tried to see most comedians appearing in the city, was overwhelmed by his outrageousness. I have all of his books and have tremendously enjoyed his HBO specials. A brilliant, brilliant mind, more so than most college graduates with whom I have been associated. I am a university professor, and often use George's quotes to make salient points.
A fearless, irreplaceable genius is gone. He told it like it was, cut through the BS and made us laugh at this cockeyed world.
How sad he had to leave us just when we needed him most. I wish him peace.
My husband and I are both George Carlin Fans we were planning on going to see him in October at the Chicago Theater but now we are at a very big loss- He was orginal, right on the target with everything when it comes to the world, home life, etc...
We will miss him dearly we will still have DVD's to watch him perform but the world will never be the same, we will never laugh as hard, cry as hard from laughing, he will be greatly missed.
One of my heroes - a defender for freedom of thought and expression is gone. May your spirit soar as far as you wish George - your memory and influence will live on for me and my family.
Heaven help ya Saint Peter, here comes George! Thanks for the laughs
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.
rest in peace george may you get plenty of laughs in heaven too
To the family of George Carlin, may you be comforted in your great loss of such a good man. I will always like his "Stuff" routine he did for Comic Relief...it is now a classic by such a great and talented artist. George, may you rest in peace. You will be missed but your recordings of comedy will last in our hearts forever. God be with you until we meet again...
George.... When you get to Heaven,,, May all your shrimp be "Jumbo Shrimp" !
Joe bless you, George!!!
RIP to a comedic legend.
Rest In Peace George, you can say anything you want now. The Carlin family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I can remember driving to a show one summer evening with a cherished friend while listening to a cassette tape of George and both of us laughing so hard we missed our exit.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
I guess Heaven wanted a private performance.
George you will be missed.
Another great one gone never to be replaced.
How times have changed! Thinking about George and his "7 dirty words you can't say on TV...and now look!
You will always be my favorite comedian. You made the truth funny!
George, you will forever remain a legend to me. Thanks for all you contributed to so many lives; the laughter, the thought-provoking insight, and hilarious social commentary. Much love to you, your family, and all your fans, worldwide.
I am so sorry to hear about this great loss. George was hilarious, and we will miss his jokes, but they will always be remembered. RIP and God Bless your family during this hard time
George: You will be missed. So hard to believe. Everything you ever spoke about was so true. We laughed so hard we cried. Our deepest sympathy to your family. May you rest in peace. God Bless You.
You will be missed. I think of you and your humor and I smile.
I hope you have a SPECIAL sport in Heaven.
Make sure you say 7 HEAVENLY WORDS THAT YOU SHOULD SAY TO PRAISE GOD!
God Be With You.
Thank you for teaching me my first seven "bad words."
Your comedy reached those of all levels of intellect. You made us laugh, but more importantly, you made us THINK.
You were the best George....goodbye........
I was just enjoying his last HBO Special. He HAD an awesome sense of humor and I will miss him.
Can you imagine the conversation that is going on right now between George and Lenny Bruce.
Another legend gone.A great loss to all, who will voice the absurdity of the world now? RIP.
Always made me laugh. I'll truly miss you. Rest in peace my friend.
George was a hoot and the premier Comic of the last two generations. I met him in Milw. The night after he was arrested, he was the most friendly celebrity I ever met. He will be missed.
Take it easy George. I'm gonna miss you buddy. Save some pork chops for me. :)
Laughter is one of the most important aspects of this human existence. It raises our level of consciousness, helps us communicate with each other on a deeper level, and provides us with an outlet to cope with difficult situations such as this. Many intelligent people are lost before they get a chance to put their ideas and feelings down either in paper or other recordings. George was able to do just that for many years and we loved him for it. We can all take solace in the fact that George poured out his heart and soul into his comedy and was fortunate enough to be able to leave a message that I know will resonate with me and the general public for years to come. So, love each other and celebrate (and laugh!) everyday because you never know when someone will be taken away suddenly. I'm sure he is floating out there in the ether, cracking jokes and laughing at all the commotion. Rest in peace George, and thank you for all the laughs!
To one of the only comedians that was not only funny, but was able to do so on many levels. He could be filty dirty and then be sqeaky clean, depending on the audiance; but always funny. I will always respect George as a comdian, person and intellect. I am sure he is making St. Peter at the gates laugh right now!
RIP Mr Carlin - you will forever be my favorite comedian and I always wanted YOU voted in office! Your insight and humor will be greatly missed. Keep my dad company - he was a great fan as well!
he is now making the angels laugh. we will miss you George
George, you taught us to think and question. You will be sorely missed by your fans.
Rest In Peace, George Carlin. Make God laugh.
My hearts and prayers are extended to the Carlin family. THE greatest comedian will be greatly missed. One of the few people I can name that caused me to use my brain. Rest in Peace Mr. Carlin.
Thanks for all the laughs, I cut my teeth on "Occupation Foole" and "Toledo Window Box." My love for the American Lexicon is due solely to you, George.
R.I.P George, you will be missed.
George, you were a comic genious & will be missed terribly. My thoughts to your wife & family.
When I heard of George Carlin's death I first thought "well .... bless his heart" - then realizing it was heart failure that took him, I started to rethink my comment - but then I realized if anyone could find humor in that, it would be George Carlin! Sadly missed, greatly loved. May God rest your soul.
My sincerest condolences to his friends and family. Too young to have left us so soon. A genius in every sense of the word. Take solace in the legacy of laughter he left behind. I will never forget him...
A master in detecting the absurdity in the lives of everyone. No one was better. His works will live on as a memorial to his genius. I wish solace and peace for his loved ones during this difficult time. He will be missed.
Your spirit goes on ..............
Because of you Mr. Carlin, the world laughed until we cried.
You will be missed.
I can't recall the last time I even cared when someone died. After hearing about George Carlin this morning, I actually cried. We will miss him.
Farewell my fellow space traveler. Catch ya on the flip side.
A true genius. Absolutely one of the greatest comedic legends of all time. George bravely shed logic and reason on this politically correct, uptight, self absorbed world we live in when no one else dared. Your wisdom and the laughter you have brought to millions will be missed.
A real loss to the world. George was a genius. You will be missed by many.
Let us know if Jesus has the pork chops!
Thank you Hippy Dippy Weather Man!You will be missed. You have brought us many laughs. God bless.
My partner Paul passed away of heart failure on 5/18 but I can imagine his excitement in knowing that George is soon to be there with him! We last saw George together on tour at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, but Paul still had a ticket stub from a show in 1973 in his wallet. What a comic genius!
I have been a fan of George Carlin as long as I can remember. he was my favorite comedian. I will miss him a great deal. thanks for the laughs George, you were the best.
This is a very sad day, a comic genius died. His words were so true, as I will always remember him for his quick wit as well his time on Thomas the Tank engine as the conductor that my son now watchs...his life will live on through his work!....may you RIP
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my father on March 8th. He was a huge fan or George's. I hope they can meet up and keep each other laughing!
Thanks to you, George, I not only know the original seven words you can't (or rather, couldn't) say on television, but I've expanded my 'forbidden' vocabulary tenfold. You will be missed. Thanks for the laughs.
May heaven welcome you without all your "stuff". Thank you for many years of laughter and insight.
HE JUST MAKE ME HAPPY JUST BY LOOKING AT GEORGE. HE WILL BE MISSED. KNOW I'M SAD.
GEORGE,YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.THANK YOU FOR ALL THE YEARS OF MANY GREAT LAUGHS.
HE ALWAYS MADE ME LAUGH VERY HARD WE WAS A GREAT COMIC WE WILL BE MISSED BY FANS.OUR PRAYERS AND SYMPATHY GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY
I saw George Carlin in Oklahoma City back in the 80s when he was still doing his 7 dirty words bit, and laughed so hard my face hurt. His wit and observances that made us all think and laugh will be greatly missed!
I am sorry I never got to personally meet George Carlin. My son' s father and George grew up together in Manhattan, they used to play together as boys. Also along with David Letterman. Its so Ironic that all 3 of them had heart problems. My son's father was Seabon J Faulk,Jr., cousin of Truman Copote. Loosing George is like loosing Seabon all over again. He will be missed. Sheibra & Mikey- North Carolina/Florida
Just two short weeks ago we had the pleasure of seeing his performance at the Orlenes Hotel in Las Vegas.
What a great laugh we had! My condolences to his family.
Never laughed so hard at written words...As I did at yours. There were many things in those words I disagreed with, but laughed anyway. My prayers and thoughts are with your loved ones. I only hope you now telling jokes in the Penthouse and not the basement.
RIP George, you will be missed.
Prayers for all that will mourn your passing, especially the family.
This is a very sad day. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. You will be missed...thanks for all the years of entertainment you were one of the greatests of all time.
Good bye George, and thank you for all of the laughs. And the insights.
I was there in Milwaukee in '72 when you were arrested-nothing you said was offensive. You were great.
You will be missed by a lot of people.
To someone that made us look at ourselves and our lives from a different perspective, made us laugh at ourselves when we realize how true it was. Now God will be doubled over with laughter with you by his side. R.I.P. George
all of a sudden, the world is a much less funny place. Godspeed.
Thanks so much George for providing "thinking man's" comedy for so many years. You will be missed greatly
He often said if his life had been different he might have been a Teacher.
No, Mr Carlin, you were a Teacher.
You will be dearly missed....
One of the best comedians ever to walk the earth.. Carlin, your ideas and philosophies were unique and extremely true.
R.I.P, you're entertaining alongside Rodney now.
My condolence to the Carlin family. I remember aprox. 1959, George deejayed @ KXOL in Fort Worth, TX across the street from Farrington Field. He would come over and sit with us and watch some of the football game. He was our favorite deejay, so we were thrilled. What I liked most about his comedy was he had a brilliant mind and he used it to make us all think about "things & stuff" that otherwise we took for granted. He will be greatly missed. He has certainly made his mark in the entertainment world. Now he can keep the angels laughing!
My condolences to George’s family. George’s insight and realistic view of things provided me with many wonderful moments in my life. George was very gifted, highly intelligent and could take the simplest thing and turn it into a gut buster. He will be missed.
George was truly thee funniest comedian I have ever know. You left the world better for sharing your humor and insights into the human psychic with the rest of us. This is the life after death you have left us. Thank you.
My God George, I can not believe you are gone, you always made me laugh so hard and think.
To the family, you have my deepest sympathies.
What an awesome talent you were Mr. Carlin. There will never be another who could make me laugh the way you could. I was so sad to hear the news of your passing early this morning. The world has lost a one-of-a-kind comic genius. You will be missed!
george was one of a kind,I always tell my friends that the reason I have to take alot of stuff with me is because :George always says(you got to have stuff). Sadly he will be missed by all.
George doing the news: "Former conjoined twins Bogo and Logo Magogo were surgically reattached at the hip today. It seems that each of the twins, now attending high school, could only remember half their locker combination."
Thanks George. You will be missed,
Thanks George for all the laughs! You will be missed.
You are my hero and I promise to laugh every time I think of you. Except for maybe today - I am sad you had to leave us.
On euthanasia: "Leave my plug alone! Get an extension cord for my plug!" THE BEST!
"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is and cross it deliberately." - Carlin, 1937-2008 RIP
George, you showed us the humor we knew was there but could not put hour finger on, and so much more.You showed how fun it was to make fun of uptight people and our bumbling leaders. No one dared to follow in your footsteps....no one could come close. You were a pioneer, a leader, and you made us laugh and laugh until our guts hurt soooo bad......and we kept on laughing. I am saddens me to know we won't hear any more of your comic genious. Even thought we never met, you made us all feel as if you were our friend or that funny uncle. You will be missed more than you could possibly know. Thank you George Carlin, the curtain will never go down on your show.
my prayers are with you. he was a comic genius. will be missed.
Mr. Carlin may you rest in peace. You will be remembered forever.
Today is truly a sad day. You will be missed. I loved your raw type of comedy. You were able to pull it off and remain funny. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.
You were a genius, thoughtful and gut-bustingly funny too. The world and I will really miss having someone like you in it.
To one of the "Best" of my lucky generation, that kept you smiling
in this "CRAZY" world.
PEACE BE WITH FOREVER!
You never be HIGHER!
Condolences to Mr. Carlin's Family. He will be greatly missed. My memories of Mr. Carlin go back to the Johnny Carson show and the Hippy-Dippy Weather Man. I have been a fan ever since that time. Rest in Peace.
I saw George at Radford University when I was attending in the early nineties. He was very funny. We'll miss his sense of humor.
Rest in Peace, George.
I'm sure there's plenty of space in Heaven for all your stuff.
This guy made me laugh like none other, truly the best. All the best to his family & friends
George Carlin was one of the best comedians. I laugh everytime I think of one of his bits or sayings. He truly was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
Well, at least God won't be bored. You will be missed.
My condolences to the family of imo the greatest comedian .....ever!
A huge influence in my life. One of the first people that asked challenging questions in the way I thought and lived my life. Your humor and ideals will be missed by millions.
My sincerest sympathies to the Carlin family in this hour. George provided so many hours of joy to so many people. May you be blessed. He will surely be missed
He was a brilliant comic and I am saddened by his loss. His sense of humor and irony will never be forgotten ... RIP
You were the best! My brother and I still regularly recite routines of yours we heard over 20 years ago. You have never failed to and will continue to make me laugh. Everyone up in heaven is very lucky today. Rest in Peace.
George Carlin~ one of the funniest men ever!!! I was fortunate enough to see his show in OKC... some drunk "moron" opened an emergency exit and caused the fire alarms to go off, which shut down the sound system. After they turned the alarms off, the sound people were having problems getting the sound system back up. George was the Best entertainer ever!!! He yelled a hillarious & lenghthy joke, trying to keep us entertained. I could hear his joke all the way in the back. He then took a 45 min. break to let them "figure it out", came back and completed his entire show, not cutting it short. Probably, making the show longer making fun of the "morons" who caused the problems to begin with.
A truly honest, interesting, absolutely hilarious man! George's quick wit and honesty is definately "one of a kind"!
I will miss you!
May your Family, Friends and Fans find comfort knowing you are now making them laugh... "wherever you are"!
Thank you, Thank you very much!
I've always enjoyed the albums. The shows, the hilarity, how nothing was safe from this man's rapier wit. You will be missed, George Carlin.
The world lost a unique and special man. George Carlin was his own man and for that the world was a better place. I have to say though that I saw George in person back in the 70's and I walked out on him! At that time it seemed like he hated dogs and women and I thought that he like dogs a little more. Even with that I always liked him. He made me laugh; I loved his humorous logic.
George spoke for many of us through his comedy and he shared his insight on all that was illogical. I remember laughing many times through his routines and know that he will be missed. Being the voice to Thomas the Tank Engine was an incredible thing to do. My nephews were hooked on that show when they were young. George helped to bring laughter and smiles to many different generations. My prayers are with the Carlin family. I can only imagine the conversation between George and St. Peter. ;-)
Mr. Carlin will be missed by many who grew up laughing laughed with him.
Long Island, New York
What a sad irony: the comedian who created a plethora of timeless material based on words, phrases, and the English language in general didn't get any last words.
I have no idea what to say that hasnt been better said already, you were an icon, a genius, a legend, and you will never be forgotten. thank you for all the laughs...
Joe Bless You !
Carlin cannot be replaced! Who else is courageous enough to lambaste the American mainstream and all its hypocrisy, lies and arrogance, with such brilliant comedy?
He's up there with Mark Twain, Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, Ed Abbey and all the other artists who recognized the beautiful and defended it, and the ugly and criticized it, all while making us laugh.
I had tix to see him for the first time live in San Diego next month..doggone..
George's work will live through his performances. We will always miss him when watching Thomas the Train with his great story telling voice in the background. He will also be missed for his great comedy work.
Tonight's weather "Dark"!
From the beginning I loved your stuff! God rest your soul.
It's a sad day when such a great person passes. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Thanks Carlin...for making our minds think, and our sides hurt.
The laughter you gave us lives on!
Thanks for the laughter, George. You will be missed by many.
When I found this out at 1 a.m. I was so sad and can't stop thinking about 21 years when I saw him perform live at JU with some friends. I would always put his tapes in and during the worst of my depressions which were many he always pulled me out of them with his humor. I would laugh so hard sometimes I would almost wreck the car. He will be sorely missed. There is a huge hole in the comedy world now.
To The Carlin Family,
I am Big fan of George's. He could always make me laugh when im having a bad day! I just pop in one of his cd's and listen to him. I love that he was so true with his comedy. He is a great man and person and well be greatly miss. I am sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to your family.
George wil be miss so dearly. I have most of your cds as well as a couple of books. Everytime I listen to your acts it brings a smile to my face and a laugh in my heart. You were one cracked-up guy who knew how to make people laugh. I hope to take after you. Thank you so much for all the laughs! A lot of people will miss you.
You will be truly missed. I have considered you an inspiration for years. A man who never cared what others thought, but always thought about others.
The Baron Family
FAREWELL OLE FRIEND.....LOVE TO THE FAMILY...
A sad farewell to a true legend.
May Joe Pesci bless him. George was and will always be a soul who was so bold. As he mentions in Dogma "if we only had their numbers".
Funny man...he will be missed!
"George Carlin" , a real legend. And that legend will live on long after most of us are gone! I never got a chance to see him in person, wish I could of. I loved his honest and open opinions on every subject he talked about - its called freedom of speech! He wasn't afraid to speak his mind and didn't care who liked or disliked it! My kind of guy! George, you will surely be missed by me and millions of other true fans. And for those prudes who didn't like him, phooey on you!!!!!!! Keep em on their toes up there in heaven dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the laughs you gave us over the years. You were and icon to all who ever listened to you or watched you. Rest in peace
I'll never forget the first time I saw the "Modern Man" monologue. It blew my mind just over a year ago and since then I've become a very big fan. I'll miss you George!
Today is surely a dark day in the world of comedy.To say that George Carlin will be missed is quite an understatement. He was definitely the king of stand-up & provided me with many,many laughs regarding his viewpoints of life existance. His passing comes as a tremendous loss to all his fans & most of all his family.
CARLIN WAS A SECOND RICHARD
PRYOR. HE WILL BE MISSED
When a guy in the next "cube" in our barracks in DaNang repeatedly played a George Carlin album in 1969, I asked him to turn up the volume so that I could hear it more clearly. The process of our both memorizing that album as we listened to it scores of times over a period of months brought the two of us closer. We are still friends.
~~~To the family, friends & fans of George aka commentator, philosopher, comedian... to all who knew him best and loved him most, my thoughts and prayers to you today...Peace to you, George C. aka "Al Sleet"... the Hippie Dippie weatherman... Priceless!!!~~~
George you will be missed. You are truely a legend. Peace be with you.
My older son listened to him every day when he watched Thomas the Tank.
My husband and I also saw him in Vegas. His humor was so funny and honest, you have to love him.
I picture him joking around with God and making him blush.
Rest in Peace, you will be missed.
The Stuchl Family
George - you were more than a comedian. You were a philosopher and a true entertainer. You were also an icon that I grew up with. You will be sorely missed.
My condolences to the Carlin family, including his millions of fans.
George Carlin's brand of comedy/humor will never be matched. His gift of laughter will live on in his books and his standup re-runs. To his family, our thoughts and prayers go out to you. George will be missed by many.
I was lucky enough to be at George Carlin's final show at The Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas on July 15th. Although I had never seen him live, George did seem tired and even stopped to wipe his runny nose a couple times. George was a great funny man and I'll miss him deeply.
He stayed relevant and humorous for over 50 years. While most comedians come and go, Mr. Carlin could always change with the times and relate on all levels. While the words icon and legend are often throw around without merit, Mr. Carlin transcended his craft and will always be remembered as one of the greatest ever. When I think of him and some of his lessons on life, I’ll always smile and laugh. It could be a chuckle or a deep belly laugh, but regardless, Mr. Carlin’s words and wisdom always have a place in my heart.
Thank you George.
To the Carlin Family ~
I am so sorry to hear of your loss...please know that many share in your sorrow. May your beautiful memories of George give you strength at this difficult time.
To George ~
Thank you for sharing your humor with the world...you will be missed.
George was one of my favorites, we loved him. This world won't be the same without George Carlin to give his views to. I'll miss that. He made us laugh and forget our troubles for a moment. God be with him.
To George's family - he will be missed by many, and remembered by more.
I will always remember my mother (Alice Kennedy) telling us stories about her great friendship with Mary, and the high jinks of the boys. These memories kept her laughing for many years - and she was always very proud of "Carlin".
i was too shocked that this man had heart problems,loved his series and his stand-up.he will be missed
RIGP (REST IN GOD'S PEACE).
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
Thank you for making us think...
George Carlin, what a great person that will be truly missed. "Hippy Dippy Weatherman" brings a lot of memories back. May God bless.
YOU WERE FUNNY AS HELL. YOU WILL BE TRUELY MISSED A FAN FOR LIFE... REST GEORGE REST ON YOU WERE THE BEST IN THE TRADE, HOLLYWOOD HAS TRUELY LOST A STAR.
Thanks George for the many years of laughter. My heart grows heavy on this day because you were a part of my life and now you're gone. I remember in one of your routines, "the battle of the comics" you said, "Richard Pryor had a heart attack, so I had a heart attac, Richard Pryor had another heart attack, so I had another heart attack. Richard Pryor burned himself up.....I had another heart attack!"
You, Richard, Lenny Bruce and Sam Kinneson are together again laughing and having a good time. God Bless you.
George.. you were an icon in my Childhood... May You be up in heaven with all the Great Comics of our time... RIP!!
I can't believe people are calling ME this morning to tell me they're sorry about George's passing.....I always used to recite his one-liners and would pass page-a-day calendar pages around at work when I felt it fit the theme of the day......Friends called me like "I" lost a family member.....His humor will keep his spirit living eternally with all of us.......
Our deepest condolences to the Carlin family. We wish great minds and great souls get to leave forever.
We will miss you George !!!!!!!!!!!
SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF A GREAT MAN AND COMEDIAN OUR HEART AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU AND THE FAMILY. FROM THE COLLINS FAMILY IN KANSAS CITY.
I used some of his routines in psychodynamic therapy with clients. Most got it. Mr. Carlin was an enlighten man and taught us in a very funny way. Thanks George and best wishes to his family.
This world is so much smaller now that George Carlin is not longer alive in it . He was a person of true value and wit and shall be remembered for a long time to come .
With my deepest sympathy and love to all of his family.
A great comic legend. Thanks for the laughs George.
Thanks Geoge Not only did you entertain us you made us think.
You will be missed.
LET'S SEE...PRIVATE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL. ALL WOMAN'S CATHOLIC COLLEGE...IN THE LATE 60'S. GEORGE CARLIN WAS A STARTLING & REFRESHING SOUND OF REALITY, & I'VE LOVED HIM EVER SINCE! REST EASY...JOB WELL DONE!!!
Iwas once approached by a man who insisted I was George Carlin. told him I wasn't George. He insisted so badly for a autograph, I finally relented and signed G. Carlin. He was happy and I was greatly honored to be miistaken for George. He will be greatly missed
Thanks for all the laughs for
all the years.
RIP old buddy!!
Give 'em hell where ever you end up!
George Carlin had the rare ability to inject a welcome note of irreverence and humor into a world that takes itself far too seriously. He will be sorely missed.
One of the brightest, funniest, incisive comedians, and observes of the human paradox. I didn't always like his politics, but I loved his insight, and satire.
I share the reactions of everyone on this guestbook: shock and sadness at the loss of such a wonderful personality. I "came of age" with Mr. Carlin, and through the years, reveled in his humorous sensibilities and anecdotes.
Thank you for sharing yourself with us, George Carlin. You are missed.
What a sad day.... Mr. Carlin was a comic genius and arguably the funniest human being ever. My sympathies to his family. He will be missed. His insightful comedy will live on forever.
The good news is, you didn't die.....you passed away.
One of a kind and irreplaceable, you were a true comedy genius and your voice will be sorely missed. A truly sad day.
George Carlin was the greatest comedian in history. His message will live on forever through his concerts and books. God bless him.
Thanks, George, for the sanity you gave us. Thanks for the humor, the thought and the example. See you later.
I will never forget the first time I heard Carlin. My cousin and I were listening to him in the car and we had to pull over. It's hard to drive when you are doubled over in hysterics! I am thankful that I got to see him live. He was absolutely a hilarious man that the world will not be the same without.
My mom was dying of brain cancer, and hadn't smiled, laughed or showed any emotion in a week (because she was too confused to know how). My fiance was flipping channels as we watched tv with her, and stopped at a George Carlin skit. My mom laughed and laughed and laughed - and it was a moment I'll always treasure. We lost her a week later. I am deeply saddened by his death.
Thanks for making life a little easier and alot funnier. As a child my family would gather around the TV just to watch George. You will be missed. God Bless you.
Its a sad day for comedy. Such a mastermind to have left the world. My thoughts are with the family and loved ones to Mr. Carlin.
What a jolt, first Tim Russert and now George, my favorite two men in this world and they are both gone. Saw George in Vegas and was laughing in the aisles. Irish catholics, one reverant, one irreverant, I loved both of them. May they rest in peace.
One of the few people in the world that could call it like it really was. He will be sorely missed as we move forward.
You were the Best there was!
George, You are a Legend! Thank you for all the laughter you have given me. You will be sorely missed! There will never be anyone like you.
The man has no equal in terms of creativity and social consciousness. I've seen George twice live, most recently in 2007 at a small theater east of Pittsburgh. He's been an inspiration to me in terms of becoming a writer, and thinking as an individual and not within the boundries of society, or what we're told. He was a great person, and a true pioneer in independent thinking. His wit, sarcasm and downright genius will be missed albeit celebrated with a heavy heart. Remeber, we don't die anymore, we "pass away" or "expire, like a magazine subscription." Thank you, George.
The man, the legend - gone. I cried when I heard the radio this morning announce that the man who thumbed his nose at the status quo will no longer speak his mind. Wherever you are at rest now, my man, I hope you are still stickin' it to 'em. Going to miss you.
Here's to you George! You're the best, keep them laughing in heaven, but watch your language. You are greatly missed in this life and see you in the next.
I saw Carlin in concert over 20 years ago and his performance was so fantastic, that I remember the details to this day. He was a great performer and cutting edge. I would laugh until it hurt. He will be missed.
Heavens Beware: A great voice is joining your ranks--Yes-great satire,viewpoints--but underneath his style was a warm, generous and very intelligent individual gifted with a quick sense of balance and many people have been affected by his messages.
He will be missed but he gave this world of ours many hours of laughing and serious reflections---may his family receive great comfort knowing the impact he had on all of us.
God Bless Dear George
Suddenly his "words" are funnier then ever/ We will miss hearing them
it is a sad day in the history of this world as we have lost not only the greatest comedian of all time, but also an amazing man. he is the HBO special and to say that i've seen him perform live makes me very happy. we'ss miss you George
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. George sure knew how to make you laugh and think about what he said. We will miss your humor.
WOW, WHAT A FUNNY GUY! HE WAS MY ALLTIME FAVORITE COMEDIAN. HE WILL SURELY BE MISSED IN THE COMEDY WORLD. MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY.
I'll never forget, in the mid-60's George played the bit-part of a Ice Cream salesman driving an Ice Cream Truck in the T.V. series "Bewitched". Within a few years he was on his way to the TOP. Rest in peace Carlin.
What can I say that others haven't already except.....George...don't get thrown out of heaven for being too critical :) You will be sorely missed and I enjoyed every concert I attended and every appearance on TV. Your the BEST!!!
To The Carlin Family,
He will be missed.....
Not only a funny man but a man of deep knowledge in many areas.I along with many will miss your quick, natural comedic talents.
Your perfect timing..I extend my sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Carlin one of the greatest comedians and human spokesman that ever lived.
I'm so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed by the world for his wonderful way of looking at the world.
I am so sorry for your loss. He was a very funny man who always said what was on his mind. He will be missed.
You've given me tears of laughter over the years. Now I'm crying for a different reason.
George Carlin. Truly one of the greatest funny men of our time. You have millions of fan that are mourning your passing. I had the honor of seeing you in concert 4 times. Each time was an honor to see you handle the problems of the day. Perhaps if the people in Washington had listened, this would be a different world. George, you will truly missed by everyone that ever knew or heard you. Be with God my friend, maybe you can help him make the right choices. Rest In Peace my friend. I am counting on seeing you again in concert in Heaven.
WOW What a shocker this morning. He was an Icon, he brought a whole new prospective to the views of life and how we all wanted to say it the way he did. Our prayers go out to his family and Thanks for sharing him with the rest of us. May you find peace in this trying time.
I remember seeing George years ago in Peoria, Illinois - how apropos. I never laughed so hard in my life. He was truly talented and will be sorely missed in this world.
With sincerest condolences,
I saw Carlin at Western Illinois University many years ago. The next day, my sides hurt. I couldn't figure it out. Then I realized I had laughed so long and so hard the night before.
I never knew George personally but he sure made my day while one night I saw him on a TV show & he said "If you really want to hear the best a cappella you gotta hear The Persuasions. I called all my guys.. I am Jerry Lawson, former lead singer, arranger & producer of The Persuasions for 40 years & 23 albums. His appreciation of my music meant the world to me. Sure wish I had known how to reach him. I would have loved to send him my new CD, the masterpiece of my career. He really would loved it. my condolences to all of George's loved ones.
My deepest sympathies to the family of the man who could poke fun at ANYTHING!! The "Blue Food" and "Things You Don't Hear" are two of my favorite routines from the 70's that always make me laugh. Be comforted knowing he is joining the heavenly list of recently departed comics. He is in good company! Rest in Peace, George. You brought happiness to many!!
You taught me to cuss!!!!! I always thought you'd be around to teach my kids to cuss too!!!
WHAT CAN I SAY ,I AM TRULY UPSET FOR THE LOSS OF THE WORLDS FUNNIEST MAN... I WILL NEVER FORGET THE LAUGHS I SHARED WITH MY FATHER LISTENING TO GEORGE...YOU NOW JOIN MANY OTHER GREAT FUNNY MEN UPSTAIRS WERE LAUGHS ARE ALSO NEEDED...MY DEEPEST SYMPATHIES...TIFFERS
George Carlin provided a lot for me in both my early childhood and adolescence. When I was young, I enjoyed hearing him narrate on "Thomas the Tank Engine" which I was entirely absorbed with. When I grew up, George's comedy was something magical. He will be missed in so many ways and on so many levels.
I am sorry to hear of your loss. He was a great comedian and human and he will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
The beauty of George Carlin's comedy was that he went after EVERYONE, liberal or conservative - no one and no thing was sacred. Social criticism as comedy - he was the ultimate practitioner and his comedy never lost its bite. The world is a little poorer without his presence - and his pithy observations. I'm sure he's finding much, much material up there in the next life. Rest in peace Mr. Carlin - you had the rare gift of making us laugh at ourselves.
George Carlin provided a lot for me in both my early childhood and adolescence. When I was young, I enjoyed hearing him narrate on "Thomas the Tank Engine" which I was entirely absorbed with. When I grew up, George's comedy was something magical. He will be missed in son many ways and on so many levels.
You brought a lot of joy to our life and will truly be missed. Guess you'll finally find out if there is a God. Rest in Peace.
Sad to see you go; you are the funniest person in the world.
You will be missed , was looking forward to seeing you on HBO or wherever the venu would have taken you; Rest in Peace
Wow, who did'nt listen to him as a teen, and still think of him as your favorite comic. whenever i was down or depressed all i had to do was put on one of his albums and just laugh my self out of it. im feeling depressed right now, excuse me i have to put on a place for my stuff
It's a pity we'd never know what George Carlin have to say about all this, his view of this event.
We are in trouble, one of the last true New Yorker has left us taking his wit and clarity, and there are no replacements... We need serious help. Damn you George! Couldn't you stick around for a couple of centuries at least?
Our condolences to the family. He was a wonderful, intelligent, alarmingly funny funny man. The world will miss his insight and his humor. We are all at a loss.
Sadly, no funnier man ever spoke the truth so well.
Let's hope all his good energy comes back to this universe soon. We sure could use it.
I seen you live at the Chicago theater. I wish I could have seen you live many more times. I seen every HBO special. In a dangerous world, you made fun out of everybody. You made me realize nobody should take themselves seriousely. You were my generation's comedian. I will mis you. We need people to make us laugh more.
I will truly miss this wonderful man
and funny comedian no one made me
laugh as he did, my sides busted.
Thank you for the Laughs, and Making us all think!!!!!!!!
I'll miss your blunt humor George. It's ironic that someone who made fun of death like you and found humor in the way the news treats celebrity deaths is mourned like this. I think you'd have a field day with this. Please give my 'regards' to God - if it isn't too much of a burden to ask:) You will be missed, you old curmudgeon.
You were the best! Which ever way you're goin', I hope they don't mind being skewered... and I'd love to be there to see it! Of course, in either case I'd have to disavow any knowledge of your existence. Better yet... I couldn't keep a straight face. Just send me a video!
I had the distinct honor of sharing the bill one evening with George at the Gate of Horn BEFORE he became well known. George was still experimenting with his monologue, doling a great "imitation" of Mort Sahl. --which, at that time, didn't go over well with the crowd. It wasn't till he re-emerged as Al Sleet, etc. did his career take off. He was one of the most incisive persons I ever met. He was truly the Will Rogers of our time.
I felt like I knew you George! You had a way of expressing MY feelings on so many subjects. I'll never forget listening to your albums in Jr. High back in the 70's. They shaped my way of looking at life with humor. To your family, we share in your loss. I am sure heaven is a little bit funnier now that George is there!!
I admired your comments and straight forward words. You will be greatly missed. The world has seen the passing of a great man.
I love you, George. I can't tell you the number of times you've had me howling at your comedy!! Godspeed, my friend. I was so glad to have seen you on many occasions. You were / are the best!
George,was funny-funny how how was he funny?We will miss you
One of a kind, I dont think any other comedian will make me laugh the way that George did. "Everybody needs a little cancer in their water." You will be missed.
The world has lost a great comedian. Your outlook on life will be sorely missed. RIP, my friend.
George is one of the first comedians I ever found myself qouting to friends. I don't think anyone else living in our times could see things for what they really are as clearly as George did.
What a major loss! One of the few original thinkers left in this world. We all needed to hear all he had to say. Warm thoughts to his beloved ones.
A true genius on every level. Probably too much of an intellect for most people, but insight that was unique. I'm thankful that my children were able to see him, and listen to his perspectives on everyday life. He cut through all the "bull" and knew how things really worked in this country.I never tired of him, or his humor, and will miss him a great deal in this future life.
You WERE the 1960s. FUN , caring, and wise. You led a generation through your vision and honesty.-Steven D Hart, Long Island NY
What a sad day this is....you were the funniest man I knew. I first saw you on the Flip Wilson show talking about your beard, I laughed til I choked. I will miss you terribly. I'm so glad that you are no longer in pain. Bless you.
I rember watching thomas the tank engine with my daughter who is know 17 .My daughter and her friends never missed the show.
It's like losing a favorite uncle.
George Carlin is one of the first comedian I ever heard, thanks to my brother Billy. It was about farts and boy was it funny. Thanks for the laughs.Our prayers are with your family.
George was an original...never afraid to speak his mind...and ALWAYS insightful and up to date...I'll miss his humor...his irreverence...and most of all...his comic GENIUS...!!! Rest in peace George...heaven must be having one hell of a party...!!!
It started with Toledo Window Box...and I regressed from there...couldn't thank you more..my condolences to the Carlin family...I hope I haven't broken any copyright laws...nobody reads the guidelines...but I agree to them
My first HBO special I saw when we got cable as kids was George Carlin. Everytime I order Jumbo Shrimp , I don't know what to expect. Will I get jumboShrimp or a shrimpJumbo ?
To all of the family and friends of George , my sincere condolences . He was one of the funniest men ever ! God bless you !
TO THE CARLIN FAMILY & LOYAL FAN BASE THE WORLD OVER: GOD BE WITH YOU IN YOUR TIME OF GRIEF. HE WILL BE MISSED BY EVERYONE WHO EVER WAS BLESSED BY HIS UNIQUE SENSE OF HUMOR. JUST THIS LAST WEEK, I USED HIS DRIVING ANALAGY: 'HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED ANYONE DRIVING FASTER THAN YOU IS A MANIAC & ANYONE DRIVING SLOWER THAN YOU IS AN IDIOT??!!! TRUER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN.
Common Sense Died. Invisible-man-speed, George! Our thoughts are with his family & friends.
On June 22, 2008, the world lost a genius.
You will be missed greatly!
Thank for the funny humor and the much needed laughter. My codolences go out to his family.
To the Carlin family: I am so sorry for your loss. George by far was one of the greatest comedians ever. My husbands has almost all of his shows on cd and video, and have many on our i-pods. He is a legend and he will be missed.
Thank you George,nobody could ever top ya,...
I was devasted to hear the news of George Carlin's death this morning... I had spent the evening prior downloading some of his best bits on my ipod ...i was so looking forward to his performance in Newport in a few weeks...I loved hearing his voice narrate the Thomas stories that my son is obsessed with...what a talent...he will be missed
Honest and open communication imagine how much better the world would be if we were allowed to simply tell the truth? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to hear a politician tell the truth without " policitcal correctness". Thanks to comedians like George Carlin and Richard Pryor we were forced to look at who and what we really are; for that thanks and may you rest in peace.
This is truely a huge loss. However he will live on in all of our hearts for years to come. RIP George. God Bless his family in there time of need!
My deepest sympathy to the Carin family. To George - thank you for the many laughs. God Bless!
Right now, more than any time in my 55 years,we are at time in our history where we don't need to be losing people that make us laugh. Thank You, George, for all you've done to make America think about its problems, while splitting our sides with laughter in the process. All of America sends our collective heart to the family, and, at this point, George is reunited with Bruce and Pryor, comparing notes. REST IN PEACE!!(And you were right, SHOOT is the "other word", spelled with two O's).
I listened to "The Hippy Dippy Weatherman" many days on my way to school and George always made me laugh. He was a phenomenal entertainer and a very outspoken individual (which I loved about him) and he is one entertainer that has made quite a mark on all of us and will be sorely missed. Hey George, Que Pasa!!!
A giant, hilarious beyond belief but with a biting, incisive outlook on the world of humans. His riff on baby boomers, of which I am one, was brilliant. A tremendous loss.
Will miss you George you made me
laugh for years and years!!!!!
Sympathy to the Carlin Family
We have lost one of the great comedians of our time. He made us ponder the absurdities of life and showed us how to laugh at them. Our "Hippie Dippy Weatherman" will be with us always and I'm certain he's a very big hit in heaven! My condolences to the family.
To George Carlin: Thanks for the laughs and the honesty. Your comedy can be imitated but never duplicated. Your legacy will live on forever!
To the Carlin family: Thanks for letting George do his job, even though it meant countless road trips.
Truly a very talented man, brilliant God bless him & his family for He will be missed.
Discovered "An Evening with Wally Londo" in my parents closet when i was 12 and never looked back....
and had the pleasure to see you perform live.....
I miss you already.....
Thanks for your time.
Some of the best social political commentary ever. Thanks George.
When we heard the news we couldn't believe it. George Carlin was one of our fav in the comedy world. He will be missed. Blessings to his family and fans.
George may you rest in peace. To the Carlin family my God help you thru this sad time.
George was a riot and will be missed.
He will be missed greatly..my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
I am truly saddened to hear of the death of George Carlin. Today is a sad day in the comedy world. Mr. Carlin, thank you for the laughs. God bless you and your family.
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
The world would be a much better place if more people thought like he did. We'll miss you, George!
Wow. I'm in complete shock, to say the least. George, you will surely be missed. I spent the majority of my years growing up to your stand up comedy. You spoke the truth, which is what made your comedy so much funnier. I think I can hear the angels laughter in heaven. You will be missed but at least you still live on....
George Carlin, my brother, when I first saw and heard you 'way back in the day', I found a new hero that helped me to understand a reality in the humor you delivered. When your humor brought tears to my eyes, that, my brother, was a sign that I really enjoyed listening to you. Gonna miss you.
He was one of the best that is for sure. Now its time for you to make all our loved ones up there laugh. You will be missed.
He was a very funny and humorous man! One of a kind!! He'll truly be missed!
I was so shocked when I heard the news this morning that my "hero" had died. I have grown up on his comedy and have the pleasure of seeing him live 3 times. He had an amazing way of finding humor in some of the strangest places in American society. I'll miss ya, George. You have given me many years of side splitting laughter. I hope your spot in heaven has plenty of "room for your stuff".
As a child nothing to me was funnier then the "Hippy Dippy Weather Man".
The funniest man in the world!
I was there at Milwaukee's Summerfest 1972 when George rattled off the "Seven Heavies" ("they must be REALLY BAD") and the long arm of the law escorted him off stage. The crowd cheered. Also saw him in concert in Chicago. Spent hours and hours listening to Class Clown and just recently listened to it again-still the funniest comedy album of all time. My condolences to the Carlin family for your loss. We loved you so much, George! Keep 'em laughing in heaven!
One of the greatest funny guys of all times. I loved watching his HBO Specials. My favorite is Carlin On Campus. He will be missed.
Ah, Al Sleet-- I'll miss you and your Toledo Windowbox! Carlin always said it like it was, and I hope he gets the proper credit for that from St. Peter. RIP from a fan & an admirer, whom he always inspired by his steadfast refusal to kowtow to The Establishment, in whatever form.
What a funny guy!!! I always smile when I see his face.
How eerie that last night I watched all your comedy shows before bed and here you are passing away as I am watching you on my DVD player. I have loved your comedy since the day I first saw you on HBO. You share my birthday and may God bless you today and always, dear George. You are an inspiration to us all.
Everyone will miss his irreverent humor! His books kept my son laughing even when he did his tour in Iraq (maybe especially then).
Thanks for the memories!
To the Carlin Family and Friends, Wow, a sad day for us all. We're hurting right along with you... I grew up to this funny mans humor. We will all miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
I grew up listening and watching George Carlin, saw him live many times throughout the years. The world has lost a truely gifted and talented artist. My condolences to his family.
George, I have always said that I would have loved to spend a couple of hours just talking to you. Your way of viewing ordinary things and events through the lens of your comic genius enlightened us all - and made us laugh like hell.
Thanks for the memories and the belly laughs. Somehow the expression "rest in peace" doesn't seem quite right because I'm sure you won't be resting - you will continue to be cracking everyone up in heaven.
My condolences and prayers to your family - know that your grief is shared by many.
I will always be a great fan
The Planet lost a great one today. Going to miss ya George. You had a great impact on my life..The many classics like Hippy-Dippy weatherman and the Birth Control pill campaign were pure comic genius. Take care my old friend.
Such a great comedian, and in a way, philosphical about political and social issues. He will be missed.
Thank you for making me laugh till I cried. I saw him perform in Charlotte, NC a few years ago---he was simply a genius!
May you R.I.P., you've lived a wonderful,amazing life! You can rest knowing that another generation will enjoy your work!! Thanks for many,many laughs!! God Speed!
Godspeed, George. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Thank you for all the wonderful laughs. You will be deeply missed in our lives.
The world will miss his comedic humor. his unique humor was a force to be reckoned with. My condolenced to his family.
George is my idea of a "legend". George was the definition of "an original". God Bless
Having a serious message, putting it into words people can get, and making those people laugh about it...
Nobody was better at it than George Carlin.
George you were the best! We will all miss you!
We have lost an incredible talent who was not afraid to push the envelope and display tremendous brilliance in thinking. We will always remember you George. RIP
Very funny guy one of my favorites. I will miss him.
WHAT HORRIBLE NEWS TO WAKE UP TO THIS MORNING!!! The man was and is the best...all week i have been wishing for him to beinvited to the JFL festival in the near future. But now my dream of ever seeing this brilliant man live is shattered.
I never knew him personally but I will miss the man dearly.
Hey George, we are all going to missing you. you made all of us laugh.I will always keep my dvd's of you.
I've been a fan of George Carlin since I saw him on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1967. To say the least he was brilliant and insightful, but what will always stay with me about George Carlin is his uncanny ability to reveal the truth about humankind through his art and humor. THANKS GEORGE!! PEACE.
George Carlin was the most intelligent comedian on the planet.While some considered his comedy to be raw, it was just George telling the real truth.We saw him in the 80's in Sarasota Florida at the Van Wetzel.A considered swanky place where the rich have yearly passes.When leaving we heard many say that they found his language offensive.We were amazed, They just didn't get the message.Well George, we got you and so did a multitude of others.All we can say is keep them laughing up there and keep some jokes for when we arrive!Our deepest sympathy to the family!He Will Be Missed!
George you were one of the best!! We will miss your views and humor!
This man was one of the funniest, most original comedians of all time. Although lately his stuff had become more political, he was always hilarious. I was hooked from the first time I heard him. I was shocked this AM to hear about his passing. I wish nothing but the best to his family. There will never be another George Carlin!
I saw George "In the Round" in the Chicago Area. The show had to stop after two hours of laughing because our rear ends hurt from sitting. I even used some of George's routine in teaching grammar school children about pollution using his satire on the song "America the Beautiful" God Bless you George you made us laugh and smile.
You'll be remembered long after most have been forgotten. And that's a grand accomplishment for a man.
I am so bummed today. George was a great entertainer. He could really take some tough issues and present them in a way that made you think and laugh.
life is too short.
i'll miss you.
Such a shame that you left us so soon! Watching Dogma will never be the same.
Condolences to your loved ones. We, the children of the "60s" , are very sad today. You were the best. No commedian today can come close to your genius way with thoughts and words.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Carlin family. George Carlin will certainly be missed here but I'm sure my grandfather is happy that it just got funnier in heaven! Our family has enjoyed his comedy for generations...
Dearest George & Family:
No matter what you said, we all laughed and felt like we could forget all our problems, even if it was just for a short while....I'll bet your last breath consisted of a smile & a small joke that made everyone laugh...
I know the Angels are all laughing now!
Thank you George for all of the laughs. God bless.
To a true pioneer of comedy. George you took the real world and actually made people think, and then see many things for what they were. You're a leader that thousands try to follow. You will be missed.
thank you for the laughs.....you'll will be greatly missed!!!!!
I am so sad to hear you have left us...but my husband and I had the chance to see your show a couple of years ago in Vegas ...we still talk about it....you had a very unique comedy act...can't wait to see your show when i get to heaven...
RIP George. Thanks for the laughs!
I know you'll keep GOD laughing,
we will miss you man!
We will continue to laugh the rest of our days thanks to George. The world has just lost it's sense of humor. Rest in Peace.
I wrote my favorite college paper on The Seven Dirty Words back in 1979. Still have it; earned an A. Thanks, George Carlin, for providing such inspiration, for the laughs, for the profound thoughts, for just being you. You'll be missed.
Just another one of millions of people who loved George for making us laugh and "thinik" at the sametime. I've always wanted to meet him and knew I never probably would. As this is a sad time for us all, and I'am sorry for those closest to him, for thier lose, But, I have to say,"thank you" to whoever made it possible to sign this guest book. I guess I got to meet him and say goodbye too, after all. THE ENTIRE WORLD OF COMEDY WILL MISS U "GEORGE" rest in peace
Wow...we have really lost one of the greatest comedians! George Carlin could make you laugh with just his facial expressions alone. But that raw sarcastic humor made you laugh and think all at the same time. Who could make you politically aware while poking fun at the world's errors? Only you! You will be missed George! Now go and make jokes about what's going on here on earth, in heaven! God Bless your wife and family!
I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. George, you were a terrific comedian and will be truly missed. You will always remain one of my favorite entertainers. God go with you on your next journey.
George, you were one of a kind. Not only did you make us laugh, but you made us think and not accept the status quo. You'll be deeply missed.
George Carlin was one of the greats. He not only was hilarious, but he made you think. He's among the pantheon of great comedians, such as Richard Pryor, Jim Belushi, Bill Hicks, who where not afraid to tell us how absurd we are.
There is now a big black hole in the world of comedy. Thank you, George, for all the laughs. You were wonderful!
I was a huge fan of George Carlin for many years. He was an Icon and a great comedian and intellectual. He will be greatly missed!
How tremendously sad. A very great and funny man is gone but will never be forgotten. Thanks for the laughs George.
Thank you, George, for being who you were. You wil be missed
What a brilliant mind we've lost! George always made you think whether you liked what he said or didn't. You will be missed, Mr. Carlin. The world is a little bit sadder today. Thanks for all the laughs.
Your death came too soon. I and my big brother loved your acts. Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family.
To the Family and Friends-May God comfort you in this sad time and may you know how much we will miss George's comedy. He could make us laugh at ourselves and see how silly most of the human race can be. Thanks George.
