Looking at this picture of Harlon Hill is like looking at his son, Coach Jerry Hill. Harlon Hill was a great man. My thoughts and prayers are with the Hill Family!!
I still remember our first football team at Brooks, before one of our first games with Coach Redding, Coach Hill came in for a pep talk - the first of many inspiring and motivating things he did for our school and teams - "give'em hell boys".
Later, after graduation, I did the filming for the team. One of those late fall games, started warm, but then a cold front moved in. I was shivering on top of the field house, Coach Hill noticed and came up and gave me his jacket - just an example of his giving spirit. I'm so thankful I was able to get to know him. His influence will continue to be felt for years to come. Rest easy Coach.
You will be miss Harlon Hill
I'll always remember Coach Hill telling me some stories about his weekends in Chicago when he was playing there,.. That I will never forget ! Our Prayers are will the Hill Family. God Bless.

To all the family, we are so sorry for your loss. All of you are in our prayers. Coach Hill meant so much to us, we each have our own memories of him and how he affected us personally. One thing we have in common though is that he made a great impact on our lives while we were blessed to have been at Brooks while he was there. No one could or can ever replace him. Love you all so much. ~In Christ~
When I come to the end of my journey, And travel my last weary mile, Just forget if you can, that I ever frowened, And only remember the smile. Remember I have fought some battles, and won,ere the close of the day. Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day. But in the summer just gather some flowers, and remember the place I lay. Come in the shade of evening when the sun paints the sky in the west.Stand for a few moments beside me and remember only my best. Yall are in our hearts and prayers. The Blacks, Brenda,Shannon,Chanc,Chara, and Revel Jr.
Great man and a great family. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. Thanks for the memories coach.

I just found this on the Florence Times while I check the list as I do everyday for people I once knew. I know it is only natural that we pass on eventually, but such a shock to see someone here that you knew and went to school with. Harlon was always a gentle giant. Somehow I think of Harlon as living forever. God Bless all of his family and friends at this loss....
Sincere condolences to the family. May you find solace in the God of all comfort, and because He is also the Hearer of Prayer, He invites people of all flesh to come to Him in prayer.Ps. 65:2
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
I was saddened when I read of the death of your love one in the internet newspaper. Please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolence at this most challenging time and know that my thoughts are with you and your family at this most difficult time of loss.
When I read of the death of your loved one I felt compelled to send a letter of encouragement to you.
Many bereaved ones have found that talking can be a helpful release. So talking about your feelings to a trusted friend can bring a measure of relief. “Talking helped to ease the pain. You too may find that putting your feelings into words and sharing them with a sympathetic listener will make it easier to deal with them.
Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 says: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [the grave], the place to which you are going.”
Our love, sympathy, and prayers are with all in your family at the loss of Harlon.
With deepest sympathy to family and friends and may you find comfort in Gods inspired word the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16).
Offering my deepest condolences during this difficult time, I'm so very sorry for your loss, death is something we are never prepared for, but please find comfort in knowing sickness, pain and death will one day be no more. For God has promised.
May God continue to be with the family...God provides comfort through his word the bible
I can remember Harlan Hill as a great football player. I was but 8. He was one of the greats and an inspiration to thousands! He will be remembered for his giving spirit. Sad when I read of his passing.
Harlon Hill's productivity and impact on the game during the first three seasons of his career are among the most impressive in football history, regardless of era or position. Among young wide receivers, Randy Moss is the only player in history to have come close to approaching Hill's statistics for average yards per game and touchdowns over his first 36 games (he played in an era with only 12 games per season). Had injuries not dramatically disrupted the record-breaking trajectory of his career, Hill would have undoubtedly been in the conversation as one of the greatest receivers of all time.
TO THE FAMILY...PLEASE KNOW THAT YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS...GOD BLESS...THE FAMILY OF WAYLAND HILL
I'm a 69 yr old Bear fan, we loved Harlon Hill growing up. God bless this man. I remember him well.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Death was not a part of God's original purpose for mankind. Humans were to live forever on earth in paradise. That has not changed. He knows that when someone we love dies it greatly pains our heart. He offers us comfort and hope through His written word.
May the good Lord carry the Hll family pass this difficult time in their lives. You are in our thoughts and prayers
