June 12, 2014
You are the first celebrity I actually shed a tear over hearing of your passing. Perhaps because you're a local boy, or because we met on the set of Groundhog Day and you were anything BUT "Hollywood", or maybe because you had a Buddhist nature making you a lovable lug, but mostly because you're one of the good ones and to hear you suffered was sad to hear. Thank you for the laughs, but mostly for your kind and humble ways. God Bless you, your family and all who knew and loved you.

April 27, 2014
One of the best. It's rare if even just ONE of an actor/writer/director's work can become something larger than life and keep gaining more life year after year and decade after decade. Harold had a few - but Ghostbusters was the best movie of the 80's and like a lot of people here, was one of the centers of my childhood. That ONE among many projects he created will live forever. A genius of comedy, a great director and by all accounts a wonderful man. RIP.

Dearest Harold and famiy, After I met your Aunt Rhoda Cokee, then Jordan, her husband while living in Florida, She happened to mention that you were her nephew. Since then, we have seen most all of your movies. I thinkk you are to be commended for producing such great movies and for including your friends, even encouraging Sean Murray to follow in the same path as you, his Dad and your other pals. Rest in peace dear friend. God Bless. Rest Easy knowing that your life was successful and that you made many people happy now and in many years to come. Rest Well.
March 14, 2014
Dear Harold and family,
My husband and I became friends with your Aunt Rhoda and Uncle Jordie when we both lived and worked in Florida. Through Rhoda, I learned of the family connection with you Harold. We loved your movies and tried to keep up with your life, but since we have retired to Western NC, have not seen or heard from Rhoda or Jordie in a couple of years. I know the family was shocked to loose you at such a young age. I hope and pray that your family will be able to find comfort that you lived long enough to share your talents with the rest of the world and that you knew you had many, many fans who loved your achievements. Rest In Peace, Harold. You will be missed by a lot of people. God Bless your Family. Beverly and Zeb Palmer, from Western North Carolina

To the Ramis Family: I am so saddened to read about Harold. The loss of a cherished husband, father, and friend can be so devastating. Just wanted you to know that the world is indebted to Harold for helping us to laugh and find joy in life during good times and bad times. Look forward to sitting with him and listening to his stories during a time when sickness and death are things of the past, a time when God's will is done on earth as it is in heaven.--Matthew 6:9-10. As a child when I was starting to get interested in movies, I was introduced to this very odd movie called "Ghostbusters." I started to watch it and immediately I was scared and was also laughing at the same time. I had finally discovered what my all time favorite movie was. As years go by, I became addicted to this amazing franchise. I watched the animated cartoon shows and the sequel.

I started to watch other movies featuring the other actors and in particular Harold Ramis. Not only was he an actor and writer but he was also a director of some other hilarious comedies. Caddyshack is the movie I think of whenever I come across a golf course. Family vacations always brought to mind National Lampoon's Vacation, the film that introduced us to Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold. But also was able to show more of Robert De Niro's funny side in Analyze This and it's sequel Analyze That.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family; His wife, Erica; His three children; Everyone who worked with him including Bill Murray; Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

To quote Ghostbusters II: "Death is but a door, Time is but a window." Rest easy, Egon Spengler. May flight of angels sing thee to thy rest.
March 01, 2014
His life was filled with compassion. He uplifted troubled hearts with his humor.

The ability to bring laughter into people lives is truly a gift from God. I have enjoyed many of Mr. Ramis movies such as Stripes, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, meatballs and Ghostbusters. But I have to say that I have never laughed harder throughout the entire movie than I did the first time that I saw National Lampoon's Vacation. I actually get the giggles just thinking about it now. What talent! May all of your wonderful memories of Mr. Ramis comfort you through this difficult time along with God's promise found at John 6:40.
February 27, 2014
My sympathies to the family and friends in the loss of Mr. Harold Ramis. May the wonderful memories bring your family much joy despite the grief and may you keep close to your hearts God's promise at John 5:28.

February 27, 2014
While waiting in the Phoenix AZ. airport to return to Chicago about 6 years ago, Harold sat down next to me. My wife recognized him immediately. Of course the plane was late, and we talked for over an hour. We determined that we grew up 1 block from each other. We did not know one another since there was an age difference between us, but we did have mutual friends from Green Briat Park. What a pleasant human being. He made it the shortest 1 hour wait I've ever had for an airplane. I'm sure he left this earth knowing how many people he entertained for many years. Thank you Harold, thank you.
February 27, 2014

I am going to tell my children that they are the best thing I have ever done. Absolutly. RIP you were Cool!
February 26, 2014
My sympathies to the family and anecdotes for those who knew them: I grew up in the same apartment building as Harold & his family on Washtenaw Ave. (His mom called him 'Hershey', but pronounced it 'Hair-shey'). I still have a vivid memory of him from around 1969 when he started at 2nd City -- he was the long-haired Hippie guy in the ensemble -- and when his brother, Steven, would come home on military leave, the two would go walking on Devon Ave. -- 6'2" Harold with his knee-length coat & waist-length hair, Steven with his fatigues, shorter stature & much shorter crew cut.  This visual recollection still made me laugh when I heard of Harold's passing Monday. I followed his career (with awe & reverence) and was always proud to say I knew him. RIP, Hershey ... you were a mensch to everyone.
February 26, 2014
So sad to hear of Harold's passing! Loved him in every movie - such a comedian. He was an inspiration for me to delve into the world of ghost hunting and paranormal activity! May he rest in peace and his family get the comfort they need at this time.

Harold Ramis Was a great actor, writer and a director. The movies he made or participated himself, were really great. To this day my husband still enjoy watching "Stripes", "Back to School", and "National Lampoon's Animal House". It's sad how a strong person like him could loose the battle with life at such early age. To his family and friends, loosing a loved one in death bring great pain in heart, but drawing closer to our Heavenly Father and supportive friends can help deal with the loss. May our Loving God, who never let his faithful ones to totter, grant them strength and comfort in this times of sorrow.

February 25, 2014
My sincere condolences to the Ramis' family. I was on Senn High School's yearbook when Harold (Hershy) was co-editor. He didn't know me, but I always felt I knew him. Even when he was a senior in high school, he was talented. He wrote a skit for the Green and White's annual Sennsapoping, which was hysterical even then. The only other celebrity that our high school produced was Burr Tillstrom of Cockla, Fran and Ollie fame.

It's a shame that someone so talented should be taken from us at such a young age.
February 25, 2014
My condolences to the family of Harold Ramis. To this day I still love watching Ghostbusters it was a classic hit that my children now enjoy. RIP sir you will be missed. May god bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Dear Ramis Family,
I had the privilege of coaching Glencoe's 6th grade basketball team for 4 years. With all the tributes being given to Harold I REALLY thought that it was important for everyone to know what a FABULOUS Father he was to his kids. The immense joy he would get watching Daniel play ball , and that huge smile he'd have as he'd walk into the gym. He was a wonderfully kind, modest and generous man.
The world lost a "good one". A real"Mentsch", as My mom likes to say.
I sincerely hope he didn't suffer too much. My best wishes to everyone .
Gregg Slutsky

My favorite creations of his were from SCTV; but the Egon moment in Ghostbusters II ("Doh, Ray, EGON!" followed by the impish grin) always summed up Mr. Ramis for me. Although I grieve the loss of his genius, I thankfully rejoice that so much of his work is recorded for future amusement.

I had a chance to work with him on Ice Harvest and though I was in charge of security I had only worked Oceans 12 and had questions on the how it is done, Harold took time and explained and was a people person. It gave a prospective of what goes on behind the camera that few can get from where I sat. Thanks for the good times and memories, god bless the Ramis Family your in my thoughts and prayers.

February 24, 2014
It is with great sadness that I learned today about the passing of Harold Ramis. I met him in Woodstock, IL, when he directed the movie, Groundhog Day. He could be seen walking the streets of Woodstock, talking and laughing with everyone he met, always taking time to be accessible. I could tell he loved what he was doing as he directed this very funny and special movie. I saw him many times standing behind the camera as scenes with Bill Murray were being shot, just smiling from ear to ear, enjoying every minute of the very hilarious movie script that played out in front of him. He came into Northern Federal Savings Bank often which is the Bank in the movie were the Brinks truck was parked and robbed. I worked at the bank and that is where I met Harold Ramis personally. He was like family, like a true friend, like a regular guy who fit right into the make believe town of Punxsutawney, PA, which was really Woodstock, IL. Harold Ramis was instrumental in choosing Woodstock, IL, for the filming of Groundhog Day. Thank you, Harold, for coming to Woodstock, IL. You will be in my heart forever!

COMEDY SHOWS THAT BROUGHT HILARITY TO EVERYONE. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ramis family and friends at this very sad time. I just bought the twin pack of Ghost Busters and just watched it last night. He was a fantastic actor. I loved watching him act. I am so sad for your loss he was a great actor. And I am sure a great man, husband, father and friend. God Bless.
