GREENSBORO — Hazel W. DeBragga, age 91, of Greensboro, passed away July 24, 2013 at Heartland Living and Rehabilitation Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel, 1118 North Elm Street, Greensboro, NC. Interment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Monday prior to the service.

Hazel DeBragga was born October 13, 1921 in Fremont, NC to the late Johnie and Mamie Wheeler. She was a member of West Market St. United Methodist Church. Mrs. DeBragga worked at Congressman L. Richardson Preyer's office. She was active in the community and a member of the Greensboro Symphony Guild, the Greensboro Lecture League, Rotary Club, and Bookmarkers Book Club. Hazel also loved playing bridge, reading, the arts, traveling, and entertaining friends and family.

Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, William Hugh Womble, M.D. and her son, William Hugh Womble, III. She married Albert E. DeBragga in 1973 and he also predeceased her in death in 2009.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Womble of Newcastle, Washington, sons Donald S. DeBragga and wife Sharon, and Hank DeBragga and Sue Lundberg, sister Dorothy Pearson, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

My condolences to friends and family. It has been quite a while but I remember meeting Hazel's son Don and possibly Sharon at Granville Towers in Chapel Hill way back 1971 when we were all at UNC.
