I'm so sorry what happened to you. I don't understand what the world's coming to.

Though I never knew you, you are omeone who makes me realize that in your short 20 years of life you made many happy. And that you never wasted a a minute of your life showing that I should also take my lie day by day, and make that day as if it were my last day on earth, because it might be.

Dear Ly (Lee) Family,
I am sorry for your loss. God bless him and his family.
August 08, 2007
To the Lee family. I was thinking about your son tonight. I will never understand why bad things happen to good people. I want to commend your family for coming to America and for the values you have instilled into your children. America lost a very bright young man, full of promise and wonderful potential. I think about you and your family every day. A lifetime would be to soon to forget what has happened. I will never forget. I am a parent to two young men. I pray that God is holding you and your family today in his arms just like I am sure he is holding your son, Henry.
June 11, 2007
Henh, I still think about you everyday, and it hurts. I miss you. I miss hearing your voice, and reading your messages on facebook. I wish I could bring you back somehow. I love you dear, forever. ?

Dear Ly Family: I worked with Henry from time to time at Williamson Rd Library. Whenever he came in and blessed us with his prescence, the atmosphere instantly became brighter. He was truly a ray of light which shone from within his spirit. He always seemed to just know when we needed his help..he would just show up when we were backed up with books and movies to put away and did his job (volunteering his time) quickly and amazingly well. He would just go to work and within 30 min to an hour the place was cleared of all backed up materials. He was quiet, but once I got to know him a little better, I was so amazed at his humour, maturity and sense of fun. I loved Henh for that. He was truly an amazing and unique person. He had that rare combination of intelligence, humour, discipline and empathy for others. I have kept all the clippings on him from the newspaper and will never forget this beautiful child who gave so much. Love and Prayers, Lisa Sharkey

I didn't know any of the victims or their families . I think you were the epitome of what America stands for and a true American hero. I was born in Roanoke and have family there still. May GOD bless your family and all of the victims families and friends.
My heart stood still when I heard the news and tears came to my eyes. You are in a much better place and the angels are watching over you and your loved ones. Long live your memory and the Hookie spirit !May you rest in peace .You make us proud to live in America !

The sun shines in the Virginia skies .
As a blessed angel sings a song dedicated to the Hookie pride.
With braveness and courage from where he stood.
He who protects his brothers and sisters with his heart so good.
A mind is a beauty like BlueRidge skyline.
And you were the slogan that to me seems so far away .
"That Virginia is for Lovers".
May 08, 2007
I did not know any of the victims personally, but heart goes out to each family. When I see your son picture my heart justs breaks, Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you always. Remember the good times. I believe you had a good son and he will be greatly missed.

I just read the wonderful story about Henry in the Roanoke Times. I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for your entire family. You do not grieve alone.......
May 06, 2007
To Henry's family and friends,
Our heavenly father Jehovah (Ps 83:18) promises at Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness". May you grasp hold of his hand and allow him to guide you through the coming days, weeks, months and years.
Comfort may also be gained from these additional scriptures:
Isaiah 25:8 - "He will actually swallow up death forever."
Revelation 21:4 - "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
I have gained much comfort from the word of God after the loss of my husband on 9/11.

I am writing to express my condolences to your family for the loss that you have suffered in the past month. Being an immigrant myself and familiar with the vietnamese community in the Roanoke Valley, I cannot truly say that I know the pain that you feel but I can definitely say that it must be difficult. May God be with you and yours in the coming days. Look to your friends and family and find comfort in their blessings and well wishes.

Henh had much to offer the world and he will be purely missed.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the sparkle in the snow.
I am the shredded leaves that blow.
I am the sunlight on growing grain.
I am the gentle summer rain.
I am the quiet bird at night.
Circling about; Taking flight.
So do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

To The Lee Family:
I am writing this brief note to your family because I so deeply feel that when we are faced with the sudden loss of someone so very dear to us that it is one of the hardest things in our lives we will have to face. Yet, I would like to share with you something that touched my heart, it is the knowledge that God will respond to our persistent prayers to help us through any tough time such as this. At Philippians 4:6 and 7 it says that "the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers." Please know that my prayers are with you at this time and I urge you to continue to pray for strength to get through the rough moments ahead.

RISE UP SLOWLY, ANGEL

Rise up, slowly, Angel.
I cannot let you go.
Just drift softly midst the faces,
In sorrow now bent low.

Ease the searing anger,
Born in harsh unyielding truth
That Death could steal my loved one
From the glowing blush of youth.

Rise up slowly, Angel.
Do not leave me here alone,
Where the warmth of mortal essence
Lies replaced by cold, hard stone.

Speak to me in breezes
Whispered through the drying leaves,
And caress my brow with raindrops
Filtered by the sheltering trees.

Rise up slowly, Angel,
For I cannot hear the song
Which calls you through the shadows
Into the light beyond.

Wrap me in your downy cape
Of sunshine, warm with love,
And kiss a tear-stained mother's face
With moonlight from above.

Then wait for me at sunset,
Beside the lily pond,
And guide me safely homeward
To your world,which lies beyond.

Just spread your wings and take me
In reunion’s sweet embrace,
And we shall soar, together,
To a different time and place.

To The Family of Henry Lee-My sympathy goes out to your family. Always look to God's word for the comfort and strength to help you endure this difficult time. Revelation 21:3,4 promises that soon sorrow, sickness & even death will be done away with. Also take comfort in knowing that Jehovah does care about you and He has the power to resurrect our loved ones.(John 5:28,29)
April 30, 2007
Henh, was incredible. His brilliant smile and magnetic personality permeated everyone who met him. Those who knew him were blessed to have him as part of their lives. He is already greatly missed.
April 29, 2007
Dear Henh,
It still seems too surreal.
I miss you more than I could ever possibly put into words..it hurts more and more each day. I'll never forget you, lovie. Rest in peace & I'll see you soon.
April 29, 2007
I read about this young man in several places and he just sounds like a delightful person. I am so sorry for your loss. Our Heavenly Father is described as "the God who supplies endurance and comfort". (Romans 15:5) We can be confident that God gives comfort to those who serve him. (James 1:17) Jehovah is "healing the brokenhearted ones, and is binding up their painful spots". May the God who gives comfort be with all who love Henry Lee.
April 28, 2007
To The Lee Family: We are Hokie parents too. Our daughter is in the 2007 graduating class. We had a loss of a close family member at Tech that day. We'll keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

Father we entrust our brother Henry to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Henry in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

REST IN PEACE SWEET BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS ANGEL
April 26, 2007
To Hanh Ly's family: I am so sorry for this bright and beautiful son that you lost. I would have liked to know him. You must have been so proud of him, and I suspect that your other children make you proud too, because it seems you all have accomplished major things, and you have taught your children to work hard and strive for what they want. I hope you are able to find peace with this senseless loss, and to find joy again with those in your family who have survived.

You did an excellent job of memorializing him in the newspaper, and your description of how his brother searched all day for him was very touching. That bond that made Manh look for him, that makes all of you look out for each other, is what makes you strong. You must not lose hope. You must not lose joy.

God bless you all especially now while you are grieving.
April 26, 2007
I am very sorry for your loss. I have experienced losses both anticipated and unexpected. When I was fifteen years old in my first year in high school, my mother died of melanoma at age 54 in December 2004; we were anticipating the loss. As with me, I am sure your loss is emotionally stressful for you and your family.

Your grief may ebb and flow. It has been said that each of us has this well deep inside of us that can be filled to the brim with grief. Every time we cry, we empty out some of the well. But the well fills again. The level of sorrow in your well may lessen as time passes, but it will never run dry. There will always be birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and those days when the well seems to fill to its brim again. Allow yourself time to remember and mourn. It is part of your healing. Grief is a continuing journey.

Henry Lee—Henh Ly—the spasticdude
The serious student who had funky moods
The clown who made others laugh with fun
10 children he was the 9th—a son
He gave an unforgettable night at a dance
He said that if he could do it anyone had a chance
For he tried to do right by the things he did
He had the wit—he love to kid
He was energetic mixed with smarts
He was unique and technically off the charts
Henh the son Henry the friend
Him the world will miss for the things he could give

April 25, 2007
On behalf of the Members of First Christian Church, in Burlington Iowa, we want to express our utmost condolences at this most difficult time in your lives. May it be a comfort to you and your family and friends to know that you are being remembered right now and in the months to come in the thoughts and prayers of so many. It is our prayer that you will feel God’s everlasting love and presence in this time of sorrow and that you turn to Him for His strength to guide your way through these troubled times. We sincerely hope and pray that your tremendous grief at this time will gradually diminish while the precious memories of your loved ones will last forever. May you find peace in God’s never failing love and care and may God's blessing be with you and your family at this time. It is our fervent prayer that you find strength in the Lord!
Jesus told his disciples, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4.
April 25, 2007
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your loved one.
April 25, 2007

May God bless this family.
April 25, 2007
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. May God grant you strength as you try to cope with this senseless loss. Please know that people from around the world are praying for you.

Perhaps they are not Stars in the Sky, but rather Openings where Our Loved Ones Smile down upon Us.
God Bless Your Dear Family
April 25, 2007
I'm sorry for the loss of one fine person. From the bottom of my heart, I share the grief with the Ly's family. Be strong and remember the memory that you had with Henry.
April 25, 2007
We are heart struck over the senseless actions of one individual. Our thoughts are with you. After the tears stop flowing and the pain softens try to remember the time you shared with your loved one and the memories you made, Memories are eternal and forever and know one can take that away from you.
April 25, 2007
When we lost our 21-year-old daughter, also a college student, in a tragic car crash six years ago we never would have thought anyone would understand the pain we have been feeling. But to Henry's family, know that there are thousands who know what you are feeling and we know that while the pain will never ever go away, it will gradually ease and you will one day be able to smile again when you think of the times you cherished with Henry. This is a time when you are feeling tremendous support from people all over the world. Soon you will be alone with your grief and you will need to support each other as never before. Seek counseling; seek out others like you as I am with this message. You will find comfort and strength, and Henry will remain forever. I wish you all the best in this difficult journey.
April 25, 2007
Henh, I'm lost without you.
Please tell me you're okay. Come visit my dreams some more, please? I love it when you're there. It makes everything seem 'okay'.

Rest in peace.
April 24, 2007
What a wonderful young man we have read about over the past days. I know that he was such a blessing to all that knew him. I hope you will know throughout the days ahead how many people are upholding you and the family in prayers. It won't stop this week or next. The prayers for you will be lifted up to our gracious and Heavenly Father for days and months and years to come. We won't forget Henry's name. We won't the sacrifices he made in his life and even in his death. Thank you for allowing so many to know this young man. May God bless each one of you as you continue to grieve. Hold tight to the memories of times together.
April 24, 2007
It is so shocking what happened on that sorrowful day
In my prayers you will forever stay
Although we never met and I did not know you
This is a poem for you to say my adieu
It is a shame you can not be with us today
Due to everything that happened I am still in dismay
Now you are up in a better place
We will never forget your honor and grace
Please look over us, protect us from dangers
You are missed by your family and countless strangers
I wanted to let you know you are in the thoughts of many
Condolences and commiserations are aplenty
I bless your family hope they stay strong
In my thoughts they will always belong
I say to you and the other decease
I wish that you all rest in peace
April 24, 2007
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
April 24, 2007
I didnt know any of the people that passed, but this whole thing has gotten to me, alot. I am 15 years old and I'm a freshman at Crawford County High School in Roberta, GA. This tragedy has most definatley opened up the eyes of many people, even in other states far from Virginia. Even my school in this little town we know as Roberta are buckling down and making sure that our schools are safer. It has opened up my eyes to all the possiblities at schools, here in Georgia, Virginia, and all over the world also. My condolences go out to all the friends and family of the victims. I can't possibly begin to imagine what they must be going through. Stay strong, VT will pull through!
April 24, 2007
The first time I saw Henry was last year at the William Fleming awards ceremony. I remember him receiving so many awards and recognitions for his accomplishments, that the principal finally asked him to just remain on stage. I was impressed not only by his academic performance, but also by his confident bearing and joyful demeanor. Please know that I will continue to pray for your family and for all those who knew and loved Henry. May God's peace be with you.
April 24, 2007
My prayers are with you as say goodbye to Henry and celebrate his life. I met Henry while on the Roanoke City School Board and again at the honors ceremony at William Fleming. I was not only impressed with his achievements, but more so with his smile, his laughter and the love showed towards him by the faculty and students. I am sure his gifts will remain with us who lives he touched.
April 24, 2007
There are no words to describe my sadness that this tragedy has occured. My deepest deepest condolences to the family and friends. May God be with you always and forever.
April 23, 2007

Mr. and Mrs. Lee,

Words are not adequate to express our sorrow for your dear family at this time. Our hearts are touched by the tragic loss of your dear son, Henry. We are praying that the Lord of all comfort will sustain you during this very, very difficult time. May God's presence be very near to you in the days, weeks and months ahead. I am sure Henry was a wonderful son, and we are so saddened that his life was cut short; however, we know that God sees and knows everything and He will see you through this hard and sad time.

Love always

I am a friend/co-worker of Amanda's Mom, Kelli (my name is Kelli too). I 'met' Henry through her smile driven teary eyed stories of 'the kids' and all their antics and feel I got to know him by proxy.
Words cannot express what pain I feel for your family at this sensless loss. Myself and my family express our deepest sympathy and may God bless you and comfort you through these difficult times. Henry will always be with you. He was a wonderful young man, taken too soon, but take comfort in knowing he will always be remembered by those who loved him. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

May he rest in peace and may you never know sorrow again.
April 23, 2007
It's so terrible that something like this can still happen in the year 2007...
You will forever be in the world their prayers, their thoughts, their heart!
April 23, 2007
I did not know you or your family. But I don’t believe there is a person in the world whose heart has not been touched by this tragedy. There is nothing in this life that brings us more sorrow than to lose loved ones in death. Even harder to bear is when the lives of loved ones are lost due to an unexpected tragedy. The shock can be overwhelming.
Be assured that God promises that he…”is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring us more peace of mind than the inspired words of… the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Take comfort and solace in the Bible's message as we all await the time when GOD…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)
April 23, 2007
I trust that God be your strength and comforter in your time of sorrow. Be encouraged and be blessed.

April 22, 2007
I am deeply saddened by the lost of your loved one. At times like these it is comforting to know that the Bible tells us at Acts 24 verse 15 that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. So with that knowledge, know that there is a hope that you will see your loved one again.
April 22, 2007

Roanoke and Hokie love is with you at this time. It just makes no sense. I guess it is not for us to know such things, but this doesn't ease the pain.
Time helps, and life is a "new different" that we are not used to.

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

Sorrowful tears
well up in my eyes
For those who have fallen
like rain from the skies

Each life was so precious
so many are gone
May they shine now from Heaven
like a new morning dawn

I cannot make sense
of this tragic event
I offer my heart
and my prayers have been sent

Each one had a dream
Each one had a goal
Each one had a family
Each one has a soul

Life must go on
for loved ones so shattered
Reach to their hearts
and show them it mattered

For families so lost
For friends left to cope
I greive for their hearts
I pray for their hope

In memory of those who have fallen and for those left to grieve.
For those left injured in harms way...
I pray for peace and healing of your hearts.

To the family of Henry Lee,
Please know that Henry touched so many people, up close and from a distance.

Henry was in IB with my daughter, and they were proud graduates of the Class of 2006-WFHS.

I will remember him best at the Awards night. Henry recieved so many honors and scholarships, that he was invited to remain on the stage with the faculty, because his name kept being called.

His fellow classmates were so proud of him, yet he remained humble.

May God give your entire family peace, comfort, and the strength to continue to shine the light that Henry displayed despite the darkness in the world.

Dear Friends,

Last night we attended the candle light vigil at VWCC. When we were given the opportunity to share anything which was on our hearts, we shared about a wonderful young man ... Henh. We also let everyone know what a wonderful family you all are and asked for prayer for you. Today, the Lady Colonels wore ribbons on their uniforms in memory of Henh and to let Long know we are thinking of you at this time.

We have been truly blessed to know several of you through tennis and in the classroom. Our hearts hurt deeply for all of you.

We love you!

April 20, 2007
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Looks like you were all dressed up for your high school prom when this photo was taken and you are certainly a handsome and smart young man! You were majoring in computer engineering and doing rather well.

You were a freshman and just starting your college experience.

And now, you are with God in His Kingdom to learn, grow and be with Him. Forever.

"Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted"
But blessed even more are those who are with God and can see His compassion, mercy and magnificence every day!
God bless you and your family and send comfort to the friends and loved ones left behind.

Henh, you wouldn't remember me. I am Ben's Aunt Penny. We were Henh, Ben and Pen. I met you at Ben's house several times and was always gladdened by the warmth of your bright smile. We hooted and hollered with every honor you received on that high school stage -- honors you so richly deserved. I lit a candle for you in church last night -- a small gesture -- but I hope you saw it shining from where you are in heaven. It glimmered with the same light you carried within and shared with all who met you. You don't remember me. But I'll always remember you.

To the friends and family of Henry Lee I would like to express my sincerest condolences. While I have never met Henry or his family I was deeply touched by his loss. This is a tragedy for all Americans. I know we are thousands of miles away, but we feel your grief and would take it from you if we could. Take one day at a time. It's not true that time will heal. I know that firsthand. But what will carry you is the grace of God and his love that he has for you. And, his strong hand that will gently lead and guide you each day if you trust him. Lean on him for he is strong as we our weak. We're praying for you all that you'll be strengthened and comforted with Gods peace.

To the parents and family:
My husband and I lost our only child, a beautiful young lady, many years ago. It was the worst thing I've ever been through, and I didn't know how life could go on for us, but gradually, the pain has diminished. We're talking about a seven to ten year window, here, so you will have to work through it. The word 'Waves' comes to mind. Over time, they will be smaller and further apart. Don't let anyone try to rush you through your grieving, but DO try to get busy with something to take your mind off of it. Nothing will fill the void of a lost child, but they would want you to move on and enjoy life. The love between a parent and child can last forever, and someday I believe you will see your baby, again. My heart goes out to you and I share a little of your pain, because I know how it feels. No one should have to bury their child, but we have to trust God, who gave them to us.
April 18, 2007
We offer our condolences and prayers in the loss of your son. We pray that you find strength, courage and peace in his memory.

Words are so hard...my heart breaks for you..God Bless
April 18, 2007

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My condolences go out to Henry's family. Although i haven't talked to him since i moved away from Roanoke he was a great person to be around. He was always smiling and having a good time enjoying life and all that came with it. I appreciate all the help that Henry gave me even though most of it was math i still remember his smile while laughing @ my stupid mistakes. He will be missed greatly for he was a good person.
