Dear Mrs Hauptman,

I am very-very sorry. He was my favorite teacher and the one that challenged me the most. He helped me very much when I was working on my dissertation. I wanted to come to Buffalo to see him before he left but did not make it on time. He will always be dear to me and I will always think of him and remember him, not only because of his work that was exceptional, but for him being a very gentle, sensitive and exceptional human being.

Dear Mrs. Hauptman,

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Dr. Hauptman. I was fortunate to meet him and hear him speak at several x-ray crystallography conferences in the early 1980's.

His curiosity and perseverance were truly inspirational, and he will be much missed.

With sincerest sympathy,

Sandra Howard

May Dr. Hauptman rest in peace. Throughout his life Dr. Hauptman worked to make this world a better place. He succeeded in spectacular fashion. The new building housing the Hauptman-Woodward Institute will remind us of this beloved mathematician who received a Nobel Prize in chemistry.

The memories of Dr. Hauptman's achievements will comfort his family, colleagues and friends.

Mrs. Hauptman (Carol & Barbara),

It has been a few years since I have seen you but I have thought of you often. I so enjoyed helping you with your move to CW and getting to know you both briefly. Dr. Hauptman always amazed me with his brilliance; yet he was incredibly humble. And behind this great man was a great woman supporting him every step of the way! May God bless and comfort you always! With deepest sympathy,

To The Hauptman Family
With deep sympathy and a heavy heart ,I write these words for your family. I am so sorry for your loss. May you find peace in all the pleasant memories that you have, and may they comfort you, and bring you strength, in your time of grief. May you also find comfort with the thoughts @Isaiah 49:13, which says,

“Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones

To the Hauptman family,
My deepest regrets for your loss. Dr. Hauptman was a diamond among the jewels of researchers and people. I met him more than 25 years ago when he gave a presentation. I was a science teacher at the time and asked him kiddingly if he would allow some of my students to interview him. He was so gracious to let them into his busy schedule and after he offered to let them work in his research labs under outstanding mentors. In later years he did the same for other of my students. Of the first 5, 2 are doctors of medicine, one is a science teacher and the other 2 are engineers. How wonderful a man is it that truly "pays it forward".

I will miss him dearly.

Regards,
Dr. Glen D. McClary

The human mind is truly amazing. I am so sorry for the loss to the family. I know that his presence will truly be missed. I hope that you all will appreciate the scripture at Ecclesiastes 3:10-13. God has promised us a life without sickness and death when we can explore all of the deep and wonderful things of God indefinitely.

Sincerely,
