Thank you, Sir, for your service to our Country. Our military men should have the red carpet rolled for them.
June 24, 2010
My deepest condolences to the Harrison family. May your fond memories of Jack comfort you during this difficult time along with the promise held out at Revelation 21:3,4.

The family of Joseph J. Kwederis would like to express our most heartfelt sympathies to the Harrison family. Our father,Joe,was commissioned as a 2nd. Lt. in the U.S.Army Air Corp serving in England as a B-24 Navigator. On April 29, 1944 while returning to base, his aircraft was shot down near the border of Holland. The surviving crew were quickly captured, and our father Joe was intered at Stalag Luft III. Though the allies were segregated by nationality after the "Great Escape" it is very likely that these two very resourceful men were able to meet or perhaps even form a friendship while imprisoned. It is this possibilty that comforts us. Joe was involved in a failed escape attempt himself which tragically resulted in the loss of 2 commrades and his recapture not far from the prison camp. Joe passed away quietly at his home in Oakland,NJ on June 14. May God grant these two Great men eternal rest and peace, a fitting reward for such selfless sacrifice and service to humanity. God Bless both our families during this very sad time we share.
June 23, 2010
As one who had a dear uncle in a German camp I have heard the stories of their bravery. My uncle recalled hearing of the "great escape" when he was in prision and was warned of the Germans murdering the prisioners. Thank you Mr. Harrison for your service to the world and mankind.

Could one walk in his shoes? I think not. Jack Harrison beared a burden that few could ever imangine. Was he a hero? Oh yes, as he put his life at risk, first at flying missions, and second as helping in the escape planning. May God bless his family and friends with comfort knowing that Jack Harrison is talking to Jesus right now and getting re-aquainted with his friends from the prison. Amen.

My kind of Bloke. An amazing man. I saw the movie in 1963. I knew an American pilot who was shot down in 1943. Badly wounded he was mistreated by German Luft Prison officials. Managed to survive and return to America. Mr.Harrison epitomized the will and spirit of the RAF during the war. As Mr. Churchill put it, 'never in the course of history have so many owed so much to so few.' Harrison was one of those few. A British hero!
I'm an American and I served during the Cold War with the USAFSS in Bedfordshire. Cheers mates!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Rest easy oh soldier of mankind because you are now a soldier in God's Army and a good one at that! Take comfort in this knowledge, Jack now wants for nothing, he sits at the Kings table and awaits our reunion on that day foretold in our King James Bible when Christ shall return, so prepare one and all to meet him then for he will be in that great Army and will ride a great white horse with sword drawn. We say farewell to not only a hero, but a man who had the courage to stand up and be counted and fight the Third Reicht and cause chaos for the German Army even while in a concentration camp. Mere words cannot say enough. The great hall of your fathers will be honored when you arrive. Be at peace.
June 09, 2010
While it is sad to lose these members of the Greatest Generation, I am happy that he was able to lead a long and fruitful life. That he endured and survived such atrocity in a German prison camp is, in itself, amazing. That is something I do not think the young people of today could do. Mr. Harrison is truly a hero - both to his family and the world.

Another of the brave has passed on. What can we say of this passing? Certainly all these words are insufficient, for we easily forget the sacrifices of the few that saved the many from tyranny. He is certainly in a better place today.

The world was blessed to have Mr. Harrison serve it so well. Him and those who served the Allied forces in World War II were truly the "Greatest Generation." They left a legacy that most have forgotten. May the Harrison family be comforted with Psalm 116, especially verse 15. "Blessed in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints."
Thank you Mr. Harrison for your service.

SO SILENT WAS YOUR LEAVING
by Robert M. H. Zirbel

So silent was your leaving,
Not a sound to say goodbye,
Just a silence that you left behind
And that silence seemed to say
“Please, please…
Do not grieve…
For I just had to go.”

So silent was your leaving,
Uttering not a painful cry
Nor even a fearful moan.
And that silence seemed to say
“Please, please…
Do not grieve…
For I just had to go.”

That silence is still not shattered
Even though my tears pour down
To join with all the unsaid words…
Those special, special words…
That I had always meant to say.

If I had cried out “Please, please don’t go.”
Would you have stayed?
No, I think not
For you had been called…
And you knew you had to go.
Yes, you knew you had to go.

We are losing a generation of heros, the children who became soldiers, the women who took over the factories and the true statesman who lead and built the consensus to fight for freedom. I am sad that future generations will be unable to have known this generation who gave more for the world than any other. To his family my prayers and thanks are with you.
