To the Bagby Family,
I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Bagby at the Jamestowne Society Council in 1999 and found him to be a dedicated member of the Society. He was greatly admired by his peers. I send my sincere condolences to the family.
Respectfully,
Carolyn Kendrick Farmer

To the Bagby Family,
I convey my heartfelt condolences to you and the family. Dr. Bagby was a long time friend and support of me in the Jamestowne Society. I wish to share a treasured memory with you and that is: In April 1992, I literally was walking in my house after spending a week in Charleston, S. C., when my late husband told me I had a long distant phone call from Richmond, VA. At that time, I did not know Dr. Bagby and could not believe my ears when he asked me would I serve on the National Council of the Jamestowne Society as a vacancy had come open and he had conferred with the Nominating Committee about me. Now, when I look back 21 years later, it is all so surreal. I might add this was a dream come true and literally changed my life for the better.
Respectfully,
DeEtte DuPree Nesbitt
Jamestowne Society
Governor 1998-2000

Jim Bagby was devoted to the Jamestowne Society and that devotion was evident in every post he held, and his genuine love of and appreciation for Virginia history shone forth in his personality, in his dedication, and in his professionalism. It was my privilege to work with him in recent years in the Jamestowne Society, and I extend to his family and his wide circle of friends my sincere sympathy on his loss. He had a special genius that will be deeply missed.
