SHE WAS A GREAT PERSON SHE LOVED WHAT SHE DID ALL AMERICA LOVED HER
I very much enjoyed working with Janice at NASA Ames. I am sure she exploring the universe without pain or fear. Thank you Janice for everything!
To the family and friends of Janice Voss,
I am so sorry for your loss. Those who die God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes - Psalm 116:15.
My condolences to the Family and colleagues of Janice Voss. When Janice was first admitted to Purdue, she wrote about getting for credit for calculus courses she had already studied. As Associate of the School of Science, I wrote that she should have her college forward a transcript. She replied that she had not studied these in a college; rather her father had tutored her in them. I told her we had tests she could use to establish the credit. She completed the exams and established credit for the Freshman and Sophomore years of Calculus. When I reminded her of this few years ago, she recalled a problem with one the questions; she couldn't get it right. We discovered that there was a error in the exam that had not been discovered before because she was the first to accomplish this feat. I later had the privilege of writing a letter of recommendation for her for a NASA internship. The world has lost a truly remarkable young women. William R. Fuller, Prof of math emeritus.
Janice was such an inspiration to a whole generation of Wilbraham, MA students, including my two girls. She truly inspired them to reach for the stars.
God must have needed her for a special mission......I know she will not let him down. With love,
My condolences go out to Dr. Voss's family. I was her space suit technician for STS-99. I was honored to serve her, I am saddened by her loss, but I find comfort in knowing she contributed a lot to our world while she was with us. J.R. Medina (Houston, TX)
To the family of Janice Voss goes our most heartfelt prayers. Janice lived in our town and we were able to get to know her Mom and Dad, Louise and Jim. Janice was a hero, an explorer and a kind and gentile person.- Bob & Lynne Quintin, Wilbraham, Mass.
For a woman who made a difference in the world, its so sad to hear of her passing. Take comfort in knowing that God knows your pain and yearns to bring an end to suffering and death.
My condolences go out to the Janice's family. It was such a joy to have Janice in my very first kindergarten class. She was truly talented. It was such a blessing when she invited my husband and I to her first shuttle launch. It was an experience we will always remember and cherish.
I met Dr. Voss when she and her family came through one if the public missions we did at the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona in its first year. I recognized her because I had a Janice Voss team when I was a counselor at Space Camp. We gave she and her family a tour of the center after the mission was over. Took photos with her. She sent us a really great "thank you" with autographed photos, stickers, patches, etc.
When I began my graduate internship at Johnson Space Center the following summer, I had access to every employee's email address, so I wrote to her after I worked up the nerve, to let her know that her visit had been one of the highlights of my time at CLCAZ, and I hope she remembered me. She wrote back within minutes and invited me out to lunch! I wish I could say it was more pleasant than it was, because I was a nervous, shy wreck; but she was gracious and kind, and when I placed my order, she asked if I would mind if we used my order to stamp her card toward a free loaf of bread, which she got. Haha! No unearned freebies even if one is five-time shuttle astronaut, I suppose.
In any event, she actually took the time to encourage me personally. She was so healthy and smart; a vegetarian and very fit. Her death to cancer shocks and saddens me.
Thank you, Dr. Voss for inspiring and encouraging many women to reach for their dreams. My thoughts go out to her family and NASA colleagues.
To the family and friends of Janice Voss,
Janice Voss was an inspiration to many and will always be remembered. Those who die God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes - Psalm 116:15. I am so sorry for your loss.
In our halcyon days, we made our mark on STS-63. Goodbye, Janice. You'll be missed enormously by all of us.
Just like Christa Mcauliff, Janice inspired many teachers and students to "Reach for the Stars". The astronaut photo of
her first mission on the Endeavour hangs on the wall of my office. I was fortunate to meet her when she visited the CAN-DO teachers, who established the first student mission control room. She will be truly missed.

Janice I remember you from our NASA Russian class at JSC and celebrate your amazing life!
Janice, your mission ended much too soon. So many memories: the Air Rally in that much-abused Cessna 152, Richard Gere movies, the flight simulator for the Girl Scouts, theme parties, pep talks to finish the dissertation, dance classes, the launch party your first time up, you jumping up and down on the evening news .... I was blessed and inspired by you. If only we had both survived cancer! My prayers and condolences to your wonderful family, who shared you and always welcomed your friends.
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Sad, so young and so promising. She was one of 22 astronauts who were Purdue University grads--20 men and 2 women. Purdue has been called the "Cradle of Astronauts."
R.I. P. Janice Voss. You made this world a better place. John Purdue would be very proud of you.
And Hail Purdue !

Janice followed her dream and served science and her country. I consider knowing her and having her consider me a mentor among the privileges of my life. I and so many others had richer lives because of her and the world is a poorer place with her passing. Love and sympathy to her family which supported and cared for her throughout her life and gratitude to them for sharing her with us and the world.
With enormous sympathy to Janice's family. She was one in a million - brilliant, visionary, and kind. I will never forget joining Janice's family and friends for her first launch. It was the experience of a lifetime.

Thank you for your service. You were another pioneer. May God watch over your family as you watch over them from the heavens.
My brother started working at NASA in the late 1960's as an electrical engineer. He retired a few years ago and loved what he was a part of for so many years. Our family watched closely as our country began this wonderful voyage and it was dedicated people like Ms. Voss who took our breath away. What a remarkable woman. I wish I could have known her. To her family and friends I send my deepest condolences.
God bless you and your loved ones ~ R.I.P.
What a wonderful life and career you had. To have experienced the space program, and contributed to NASA as an astronaut and the search for knowledge for peaceful uses. Our condolences to your family and friends. We didn't have the pleasure of knowing you personally, but your accomplishments speak for themselves.
GOD BLESS OUR HERO.......NOW THAT SMILE BELONGS TO GOD.
Thank you to you and your family for your sacrifice and your service. You are an inspiration.
Thank you for your service Janice. It takes a special person to climb on one of those things and become an explorer. RIP and prayers to your family.
Janice, I'm so sorry I was not aware of your struggle, so I could say something while you were here, perhaps remind you of fun times dancing in the late 80s just before you became an astronaut. You were the best, such a smooth glide, I've never felt anything like it. I know you will be remembered for your accomplishments, but I also hope this note inspires people in the Houston dance scene to remember you. That is where I met you. I can clearly recall the evening, and how struck I was.
Discovery Elementary in Bakersfield CA will never forget you!
R.I.P. Janice- Your mission on earth was completed!
Thank you Janice for your dedication and service to the space exploration program. Your contribution to our country is much appreciated. RIP

Amazing Woman! May she rest in peace and be welcomed to Heaven so she can see the Stars on the other side and look down upon us and smile. Prayers to her family as they go through the loss of their loved one.
Janice was one of the nicest of the women I met while working for the Space Center as a teenager. In years to come when space travel is frequent and common, she will still be one of those explorers who took the first steps to the unknown before everyone else. While I'm so sorry for her family, I know she's gone on to explore just ahead of them and will be there waiting with open arms when they arrive.
May the God of all comfort be with you in this time of grief. May all Janice's memories stay close to your heart. Psalms 46:1 Joanna
I followed all the shuttle missions and was saddened to see the program ended. You were one of the best America had to offer and I am sorry to hear of your passing. Now you can touch the face of God.

My condolences to her family. Knowing that she flew among the stars with NASA, she now is part of them in the Heavens as an angel.
May the eternal light shine upon her.....
Despite Janice Voss's death, we can all entertain the same hope as the wise man Job. He asked: “If an able-bodied man dies can he live again? All the days of my compulsory service I shall wait, until my relief comes. You will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning. Like Job we can all look forward to a time when God will call and Janice will answer.”

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
