I knew Jen very well at OSU and glad Lucy found this blog so we could share memories. Jen was in nutrition with me at OSU. I have a great pic of her and I on graduation day if u would like it let me know address etc and I will get a copy for you. Jen had a great attitude and loved people. I am sorry about her passing. She was so gorgeous and had a huge heart to go along with her smile. I hope that her parents read this because she used to tell me about both of you and what great parents/supporters you were to her. One thing I remember about Jen is that she always gathered as many friends as she could to have fun. Laughing and friends were very important to her. I am so glad she rallied us girls up for fun as some of us thought studying was our life: Jen always told me "we can study later let's enjoy life today" and that's what we did. I loved her open spirit and her smile. Also, in college us girlfriends used to be a hair jealous as she was always so gosh darned beautiful and didn't even seem to realize it. Every boy on campus looked twice at her :). Anyway for years I have thought about Jen and never knew how to voice my great memories of her until now. Jen touched many of us and we will never forget her. Will say a prayer for your family now as I know u miss her. An old college friend. Leslie Brenton (lbrentonrd@yahoo.com)

I went to College with Jen at Oregon State University and both majored in Nutrition. I just found out yesterday of Jen's passing from our mutual friends at OSU.

Needless to say, I am shocked and devastated to hear about Jen's passing in 2010. I will always remember Jen's big bright smiles, her energetic and full of life spirit.

You will be missed.

RIP Jen.

My thoughts are with Jennifer and her family right now. She seemed like a smart, strong, & beautiful woman. RIP, Jennifer. I admire Jennifer for having the strength to be on Survivor, and for fighting breast cancer as hard as she did. Each October, I reflect on all the women I've known who have survived or died from breast cancer. And it seems way too many. My mother's a breast cancer survivor since 1999. My aunt's a breast cancer survivor. My mother's best friend is a breast cancer survivor. When I was in Graduate School, I had a co-worker who was dealing with breast cancer. The mother of an acquaintance died of breast cancer last year at a young age. A girl I know from my high school years is a breast cancer survivor. My favorite Latin American singer/musician, Soraya, died of breast cancer at age 37. I enjoy listening to Soraya's CDs and am currently reading her book. And of course, Susan G. Komen, died of breast cancer at age 36, and I'm also reading her sister Nancy's book, "Promise Me", as well. The list of well-known breast cancer survivors goes on - Olivia Newton-John, Sheryl Crow, Christina Applegate, Melissa Etheridge, Robin Roberts, Deanna Favre, Amy Mickelson, etc. Here's a candle in memory and in honor of all women who have fought or are still fighting breast cancer. Jennifer fought a good fight. And I have just donated to some breast cancer organizations as I do each October in memory of Jennifer and in honor of my mother and all the strong women out there affected by breast cancer.

For Jennifer...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I am a survivor of 18 1/2 yrs. None of us know when our time will come. It is very sad that this beautiful young woman has left us but at least she went for her dreams, she went to Palau. It is a very hard lesson but it proves none of us is guaranteed tomorrow. We must make the most of each day. My prayers are for the family who must go on without her @ her beautiful smile.

This disease has taken so many lives. My condolences are expressed for the loss of your loved one. God promises that one day soon noone will say "I am sick." Won't that be a wonderful time? Noone will wake up and complain about any type of cancer, virus, aches, and pains! The Bible says: "They cried out, and God himself heard, and out of all their distresses he delivered them."(Psalms 34:17) Rely on God and he will comfort you and hear you when you pray to him. He is there for us, when we least expect it. May these thoughts comfort you in your time of distress.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

May I please offer my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear loved one. No one can begin to know exactly how you feel. For your feelings are unique and very personal to you. However, God knows, may he help you through the grieving process. The Bible tells us: " God is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34:18) May the God of all comfort give you the courage and the needed strength during this difficult time.

I am sorry for your loss. Death is an enemy that robs us of our loved ones and will soon be destroyed! (1 Cor 15:26; Isa 25:8). God also promises that millions now resting in death will soon be resurrected back to earth, a cleansed earth where they can live forever (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; John 6:40). Yes, your loved one is just sleeping now, but soon will hear Jesus voice and come out, just like Lazarus did. I hope these words bring you comfort until that time.

January 22, 2010

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My deepest sympathy to Jennifers family and friends. God will keep her in his loving arms. RIP Jennifer. You will be missed by all.
January 22, 2010
To Jennifer's family and friends please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.
Jennifer was a beautiful person both inside and out and had a spirit that will live forever.
Her life was taken so young, that i believe God needed a special angel for a special task.
She touched many people's lives just from seeing her on survivor.
She will no longer be with you in a physical sence but when you need her you will feel her presence, and as long as you have your memories and she is in your heart she will always be with you.
Jennifer rest in peace.
January 22, 2010
God bless you Jennifer and all those who loved you. May the angels lead you into paradise.
January 22, 2010

HOW SAD!!GOD BLESS HER AND MAY GOD ALSO BLESS HER FAMILY TOO!! TERRY STROBERT
January 21, 2010
I was fortunate enough to know Jenn in College at WOSC. We played soccer together. Even though I thought about contacting her after watching her on Survivor, I didn't want her to think it was just because of the show, so I never did. I look back at pictures of Jenn and she is smiling in all of them (of course because we won our games) and that is how I will remember her. She had the sweetest voice, and immeasurable spirit. I did not know her past college, and that is my loss, but I am a better person because she touched my life. My prayers are with her family. God Bless you and thank you for sharing her with me.
January 21, 2010
The disobedience that The first man Adam participated in is the cause of our suffering but our heavenly father has promised that the pain of death will be taken away from us (Rev.21:4) not only that, he also promised that he would reverse the sting of death by way of a ressurection(John5:22). God cannot not lie, therefore we must believe that the memory of You, Jennifer Lyon is etched in his mind. When his son begins to rule as king he will develop a world that all will enjoy without the worries of loosing a love one.
January 21, 2010
Let us pray, and remember "Look" The tent of God is with mankind and they will be his peoples. And God himself will reside with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, And death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

I've always followed Survivor news, but never learned of your breast cancer or your advocacy. I am an almost four-year survivor, age 53, also out-spoken about this horrible disease. This week I lost a 42-year-old neighbor, Julie, also to b/c after her diagnosis one year ago. You both are much too young for this destiny --- now you are angels in heaven. Rest gently.

Words can't express the grief the family must be feeling. My wife of 33 years died last Thursday from complications relating to breast cancer. She was first diagnosed 4 years ago. She was only 58 years of age. We must go on remembering and honoring the time each of us had. This experience has taught me that nothing is certain. We can't count on tomorrow. Enjoy life. Enjoy family and friends. Live for the moment and don't waste a day. My prayers are with you. David Kunkel, Houston, TX

I HAD TO GO AWAY

I had to go away.
I'm sorry you couldn't come with me.
But on earth is where you shall stay.
Please do not be sad.
Instead laugh and be glad.
I'm in a beautiful place, such a beautiful place.
I know you wont see me for a while.
But you will hear from me.
I will be the wind that will chill you on a hot summer day.
I will be the sun that will warm you when it's cold.
Listen to the birds sing, I will be saying, "I love you" in their song.
I know you can't touch me.
But you will feel me.
Because I will be inside of you giving you life on the days you feel like you can't go on anymore.
Please I beg of you, go on, live your life as I lived mine.
Always remember we will be together again.
I will be patiently waiting for you on that day.
When you will join me in this beautiful place.
Until then may God bless you with his almighty grace.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

He assures us that He will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and that one day soon death will be no more. (Revelation 21:4) May you find comfort in the hope held out to us in the scriptures.
