Bandits you gave us all
a great ride.
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Miss him, he was great! God Bless.
I first met Jerry in an outdoor setting in Woomelsdorf, PA outside of Reading in the '70s. Got his autograph on his album Lord Mister Ford. We all loved him and followed his career with great enthusiasim. Saw him on several stage shows over the years & felt he was the best in country music both with music and lyrics. Go with God Jerry.
Never forgotten.
Tears of laughter in my fathers eyes, priceless, indelible.
Awsome soul filling sounds...
stories... & more laughter.
Thank you
Keep smiling down from heaven
Jerry, thank you every so much for coming to a small town, and singing your heart out, at Watkins High School in Laurel,Mississipp. You got down on
your knees, so you could shake my hand.

Only good memories from Jerry Reed. Every time I hear his name, I can't help but think of the song of his about the singing bird and as it flew out the Bar room door, he's yelling for some one to give him a BB gun. We'll all miss him, he was right up there with the Greatest of all times. No one will ever fill his shoes.

Farewell to the legendary Snowman. The hero of my early 20's. I just learned of your passing and am beside myself. You were that good friend we all wished we had. I never knew you but always respected your energy. I am truly saddened. God bless you and your family and hope someday to meet you.
Mr. Reed made me laugh smile and cry. He will be missed so very much. He touched so very many. His family are in my thoughts and prayers. god bless
What a wonderful man and talent. He will be very missed by all.
What a great talent, I was really sad to hear that Jerry Reed had passed away-I loved watching him perform because he always looked as if he was having the greatest time of his life and made us feel as if we were having the greatest time of ours. He will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Jerry!
When hearing and reading about his passing after a corageous battle with emphesyma it was real blow Jerry really had talent not only as a musician but also an actor who always got along with people like Burt Reynolds their fight sequence really made me laugh he had fun he was a good man who was so happy that he made it to the top of the ladder which made a grammy and very lucky a people choice award winner jerry will be dearly missed.
I learned to love Jerry Reed through my son, Dow Douthitt. Ever since I can remember Dow loved to play his music both with a banjo and guitar. I have heard Amos Moses at least 10,000 times both Jerry singing it and Dow. Dow always said that Jerry played the guitar like no one else on earth. He will be sorrowly missed.
I just recently heard of the passing of Mr. Reed and I got a strange feeling, like a friend had passed away.
Jerry was a great entertainer and will be truly missed.
My deepest sympathies to his near and dear.

Well, the Lord definately made only ONE Jerry Reed! As far as I'm concerned, the world has lost the most talented man alive! I never knew him, but I loved Jerry...and so did the rest of the WORLD! It will never be the same place without the Wildman. It was a goal of mine to meet him and play guitar before it was too late....man it makes me sad...Keep on truckin' Snowman! God bless your family and good friends.
The first time I saw Jerry was on the GCGH. I was just a kid, but I loved the way Jerry made the guitar sound…just like his infectious, ornery, grin, and upbeat attitude created the song he was playing. Albums after albums brought me around to realize the guy not only had fun writing songs, he also had a message he wanted to share with us…be kind and appreciate life and let the world know while you are doing it, you can have fun. I could never pick like Jerry, so as the years went by, I just listened to him and appreciated his gift. My brother called me the day Jerry passed and my heart hurt. Therefore, I cannot image what the loss of Jerry feels like to his family and his close friends. It is hard to understand how one can miss someone they never “knew”. I do. My heart and prayers go out to his family. They lost, as well as the rest of us, a very good man in Jerry Reed. God Bless.
Always enjoyed Jerry's music... and I was proud for folks to ask me "are you the famous country singer?"
As relation to Don and Harold of the Statler Bros., you would have thought I could, just maybe, sing. Nope, I'm just content to listen and dance.
Jerry Reed is already missed, and the bandstand is filling up in the sky.
God Bless all of you in your time of loss
A real talented fun lovin' guy. We'll miss you Jerry! Play on forever...
snowman whats ur 20 ill see you on the other side jimmy rip the world lost a great singer

Jerry Reed will never be forgotten. He was a great artist and will be missed.
To Jerry's family:
There has to be a very special place in heaven for someone like Jerry that gave so much joy to so many.Jerry was the best and he always remembered where he came from. I hope that God gives you comfort in this time of unimaginable loss.
To Family & Friends,
Jerry has always been one of my favorite song writers & singers. When I first heard him come on the scene, I was hoping that Elvis would record some of his songs. Well, it happened and Jerry even played guitar in the recording studio. I believed he lived a happy life and he sure made people laugh with his sence of humor. I will miss Jerry, but I know he is in a better place. He is now with a lot of family and friends!

I remember watching Mr. Reed for hours of laughter and his talent will truly be missed. My heart goes out to the family. It's so sad to loose a loved one, it brings heartache and pain that seems to never stop. It's comforting to know that Almighty God knows and feels your pain. That is why he has given us his words to comfort us. Psalm 34:18 assures us,"He is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." He is the "God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3) Soon our hearts will be free of pain, because Jesus promise at John 5:28,29 that there will be a "resurrection". This gives us hope of being reunited with our love ones, right here on earth. Until that time God tells us at Psalm 55:22 "Throw your burden upon him and he WILL sustain YOU." May your memories of Jerry along with prayer help you through the days ahead.
My Deepest Sympathy
You are gone but will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.
Never say good bye, just see you later in Heaven. I love you Jerry.
May God be with the Family of Jerry
Reed And give you strength through
this time. He will be missed.
To the Reed Family,I have enjoyed listening to Jerry's music and his movies.I'm sure alot of people will miss him as well as myself. The family will be in our prays.
Jerry's performance in 'Smokey And The Bandit' and his song 'East Bound and Down' really made an impression on me as a child. After seeing the movie for the first time, I remember going home and trying to hitch a wagon to the back of my bicycle so that I could haul things around the neighborhood just like the Snowman. Twenty-some years later, I no longer have to pretend to be that truck driver. In some indirect way, I just might have Jerry to thank for motivating me to pursue a life behind the wheel and a career that I truly love. May his work continue to entertain and inspire!
My condolences to the family and friends of Jerry Reed. I saw Jerry's show live many times in Branson and Texas and every time was just as great as the first! Even though it's now been many years, I have thought of him, "Miss Prissy", Bobby and the band and all the good times they brought me often. I love you all and will remember Jerry always as a warm and funny guy as well as a wonderful and talented performer.
He made me laugh so many times in my youth. I always have tried to remember his laugh. I t always made me smile. Thanks.

Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I have an autographed picture of Jerry when he came to the Union 76 truck stop in 1979 when I was working the grave yard shift. He will be missed.
My grown children and I have often talked about the time we went to see Jerry perform at the Del Mar Fair, back in the early '80,s. Before the concert, he came out to give autographs, hugs and kisses to those who requested them. He also posed for pictures with us. One of my daughters took a picture of Jerry when he was just about to kiss me. It was one of the great thrills of my life, and I will treasure it in my heart forever. We will miss you greatly Jerry. Rest In Peace!

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
When I was growing up, my parents introduced me to a lot of great music and a few of the musicians helped to mold the character that I was developing. Personalities like Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and you Jerry Reed helped to remind me that there was struggle in the world and the only way to endure it was to face it head on with a glint in your eye and a smirk on your face.
I was introduced to an America that I know and love, one that works hard for achievement, has a great love of family and stands firmly for our beliefs in God, our freedoms and the hope that we can make life better for the next generation.
God Bless you Jerry, may you find peace in the valley and may your family and friends find the love in return that you have given us all these years.

May your friends and family give you support and may God give you the strength you need to get through this difficult time. The world has lost a very talented man. We really could use more like him. God Bless you all
I always have admired Jerry's guitar playing skills. May he rest in peace.

I remember back in the summer of 1979 when I, my mom, and my dad were staying at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. We noticed that there was a commotion in the lobby as there were numerous film crews and a large section of the lobby was roped off.
Well mom and dad took a few pictures and low and behold we see Jerry Reed himself and an unknown actor at the time, Tom Selleck, walking in the lobby wearing cowboy attire.
We were informed that they were filming a made for TV movie called "Concrete Cowboys". I will never forget how cool it was to see a movie being filmed in front of us and to see Jerry Reed.
God Bless your family Jerry and may we all see you someday in heaven above. Until we are all reunited take care buddy and God Bless!

I always loved Jerry Reed! He always made me smile.... great charasmatic personality.... loveable and fun... everybody's friend... I think FUN is the best word to discribe him, and besides being a great musical entertainer and song writer, he did a fine job of holding his own on the movie screen. He was just really natural at what he did. God bless him and his loved ones.

Jerry spent a portion of his childhood living right across the street from my grandmother in Palmetto, Georgia. We used to look at them big ole oak trees in the front yard of that house and wonder how high he'd climb them as a kid.

Jerry was the BEST!
Thanks for the laughs and the memories.
Jerry will always be considered one of the greatest guitar players in country music. In my mind, he rates right up there with the master himself, Chet Atkins. He was also a great songwriter who will always be remembered for his story songs. He could also write serious country ballads, as well. He will be missed by all. May God comfort Jerry's wife and family during their time of loss. Keep singing "A Brand New Me" and picking that guitar in the heavenly choir!
We really enjoyed his music. Our hearts and prayers go out to Mr Reeds family and friends. You will be missed Mr. Reed. R.I.P.

“Snowman, you got your ears on ?”
God bless the family of this Atlanta-born entertainer, Mr. Jerry Reed. His personality was, indeed, larger-than-life itself. If I had a dollar for every time I watched Smokey & the Bandit, I have more money than Bill Gates. I live in Clayton County, GA, where a large part of Smokey & the Bandit was filmed.
A great life; a great man. He's gonna go to glory ridin’ 18 wheels !!!

I had the honor of speaking with Jerry during a concert stop in Kentucky. I was a fan before then and a bigger fan afterwards because of how down to earth he was. He is a talent and a person who will be sorely missed
May God be with the Snowman and his family, friends and fans. I never met him but loved seeing him on TV and in the movies. Don't forget the infomercial ad for Magic Bait when he and Mel Tillis contested for catfish. One of my favorite lines from him is: "Now that you got him, boy what are you gonna do with him?" This sticks in my mind when I deer and elk hunt and fish and although a funny statement when presented by Mr. Reed, it also carries a lot of wisdom. This one statement can apply in every area and situation of your life and will keep you humble when applied. Lots of Love as he's no longer suffering and we'll all see him again in Glory, Amen.
My condolences to Jerry Reed's family. He was very talented singer, and actor.
I was blessed to see Jerry Reed, Glen Campbell and John Hartman in concert years ago at the Metropolitan Opera in St. Louis, MO. It was a lovely outdoor theater built for the 1904 world's fair. To this day I can remember every detail of that wonderful evening! One of my favorite songs, written by Jerry Reed, is "Today is Mine" "Today is mine to do with what I will.....to take from life that I might learn to give. To die a little that I might learn to live. Today is mine!" God bless your family and close friends during this very difficult time.

Jerry, You always had a knack for making someone laugh. I enjoyed listening to your music and watching your films. You were always able to make me smile, something very rare in my life. You will be missed in Nashville and the country will miss you as well.
Jerry- Gonna miss you olde boy! You were from the down to earth country performers, a class act. Enjoyed your talent over the years, which will be missed. You lived life to the fullest, and now "you didn't get the shaft", but the golden reward of heaven. Condolences to all your family and close friends.
Thanks Jerry for a truckfull of laughs.
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Jerry was one of those truly special people and a highly under-regarded talent. Not unlike Waylon, Nashville often did not know what to do with his enormous talents - and his penchant for speaking his mind. Rest in peace my friend. I will miss those twinkling eyes and devilish sense of humor. An anonymous friend.
Jerry, You were one from the old country which I love very much. I will always remember your movies and especially your songs, which I have most of them. God bless you and your family.
WE SEND OUR LOVE, PRAYERS,& CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY, FRIENDS,FANS,THOSE WHO WORKED WITH HIM,& KNEW HIM IN ANYWAY.
It is a day of deep regret that a man such as Jerry has passed on. His music and movies bring back a time of reflection for me during the 70's as a teenager. When people of conviction pass on, the loss of that person must remind us all how quick life passes us all. Peace be with you Jerry and your family. Cajun ( Cheyenne,Wyoming)
I will miss this truly talented man. My condolences to his family!
In Memory of Jerry Reed: Enjoyed you in the "Smokey the Bandit" films. You were so funny. Also, my most favorite hit by you was "Amos Moses". You will be missed but your fans will continue to watch you in your many films and play your recordings. May God bless your family and may you rest in peace.
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
Jerry you will really be missed by your many fans and associates. You were truely HOT.
My prayers are with Jerry's family. I pray you will receive comfort in reading all the messages written by those who loved and respected Jerry Reed.
As a young girl I was able to meet Jerry Reed by attending most of the tapings of the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour TV program, where Jerry was a regular. He also performed many shows at Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland during the late 60's and early 70's. My brother and I attended all these shows. Jerry would always take the time to visit with his fans, pose for pictures and joke around! He was so much fun!
One time my brother and I even got to ride The Pirates of the Carribean ride with him. What memories! You will be missed!
Rest in Peace, Jerry! You truly had a wonderful talent and you will be missed by many! You are one I will never forget! Thanks for the memories!!
Jerry,May God bless you and use you're talents in Heaven as he did to bless so many of us here on earth! You'll be missed ,but it's a comfort to see you imortalized in film for future generations. Thanks for making this world a better place.Gods peace and comfort to the family. We,ll miss ya buddy!
Very funny in 'The Waterboy' and 'Surviviors', and was the special guest star on the only episode of 'Scooby Doo' that I ever liked. It was Jerry's music, however, that I will always appreciate the most. My favorites are 'Lord,Mr.Ford', 'Talk About the Good Times' and 'Are You from Dixie'. A great, versatile ENTERTAINER, in the truest sense of the word, Jerry left a legacy of humor and happiness for his family, friends and fans to treasure forever. He will be greatly missed.
Jerry, you will always be remembered by our family. We saw you in action when we visited our son (Rob Hajacos)in Nashville Tenn. Your talent and inspiration to others was awsome! We also enjoyed your movies! God bless your family during this difficult time..

I also remember hearing him on the radio at my grandparents' house. My grandpa only listened to country which I disliked mostly but when Jerry Reed came on I would sing along. Of course Smokey was the first "adult" movie I was allowed to watch. He was my fave in the entire film w/ the dog (Fred). I will miss him and continue to enjoy his memory in film and music. Thanks Mr. Reed.
Loved to listen to him sing and loved the movies he was in. My prayers are with his family .

Jerry impressed you as a "real" person; his fame didn't change who he was. My grandmother used to say of those who passed that were noteable that God must have needed them. I guess God had a hankering for some good country visitin'

A Good Ole Boy. Not many around anymore.
You will be sorely missed. Thanks for a life-time of great music, humor and the way you paid tribute to others - notably Croce in that sad moment after he left us. I wonder now who will play that for you with such heart.
Most of all, thanks for the honest Jerry Reed who could not help but be the beloved character we always saw. The joyful replays will be eclipsed only by the memories of an honest man who was a true original and vivid character just by being Jerry Reed himself.
May God bless all you loved here and you in eternity. You were the greatest of the genre in this heart.
Jerry you will be greatly missed by all. You have blessed our lives with music, acting and the true love you have for life. I think anyone who has been touched by your voice or has watched you on TV will never forget you. Bless your family and friends.

"Their exists a way that is upright before a man, but the ways of death is the end of it afterward". Proverbs Chapter 16:25. Many have travel the roads from being born to getting old, sick and dying. The proverbs are saying here is during that process we have choices. The proverbs clearly makes us as imperfect humans aware that their exists a right course for each one of us to take.
Jehovah is such a loving God that he has given us a desirable hope. At John 5:28,29 tells us their will be a resurrection in the near future. It also tells us more about that resurrecton. Who would not want to see their loved ones who have die?

This is the lady who knew Jerry when we attended O'Keefe High School in Atlanta.
I found a picture of our old school and wanted to share it with all who love Jerry. Back then we knew him as a Hubbard.
Cabbage Town morns the loss of one of it's favorite sons. Move over Saint Peter - The Snow is Coming through. East bound and down. So long Guitar Man.
To Jerry's wife, family, friends, & fans:
It was such an immense loss today to hear of Jerry's passing. I'm a 24-year-old UGA grad student, & I'm one of his fans.
Maybe it was Smoky & The Bandit that introduced me to Jerry's acting & music careers.
Being a big fan of Elvis, I also became aware of Jerry via songs Elvis covered including "Guitar Man," "U.S. Male," "A Thing Called Love," & "Talk About The Good Times."
Whatever introduction it was, I soon started tracking down any Jerry recording I could find.
I was fortunate to see him for the 1st & last time at the Georgia Mountain Fair back in 2004 like several others here, the year he retired from touring. With his music & films, he won't be forgotten.
Let's hope that his passing will lead to the reissue of his many classic albums for RCA so a new generation can be introduced to his body of work. You never know, one of us here may be responsible for continuing Jerry's legacy (i.e. a biography).
In summary, as a guitarist, writer, singer, producer, and actor, Jerry had an impressive career. It is some consolation to know that Jerry is finally reunited in heaven with his mentor, Chet Atkins. God bless & take care.
I knew Jerry when we were at O'Keefe High School in Atlanta.
Hearing the news this afternoon saddened me, but it's wonderful to know that we'll see him again when we get to Heaven!
May the Lord bless and comfort you Phyllis and your daughters.
Anyone who attended O'Keefe in 1954 and 1955, please feel free to contact me. We called this guitar picker Jerry Hubbard back then.
I remember Janelle Benton and Ramona Henry.
I'm sure going to miss you Jerry.
"By the time he entered Atlanta's O'Keefe High School, Reed was already writing and singing novelty songs. He also dabbled in acting, taking roles in school plays throughout his freshman and sophomore years. After completing his second year, Reed left school to work in an Atlanta cotton mill. He spent his free time honing his performing skills in local honky tonks. His early style was closely patterned after his principal musical heroes: Hank Williams and Tommy Collins. He also developed skills as an entertainer, often stopping a show with his imitations of popular country artists.
In 1954 an Atlanta policeman, LeRoy Sumner, introduced the youth to Bill Lowery, who helmed a popular live country music show Saturday mornings over WGST radio. In a 1989 interview with Jim Ohlschmidt, Lowery vividly remembered Reed auditioning for him with a self-penned novelty called Aunt Meg's Wooden Leg."
I just read that Jerry passed away and I said "oh, no" and felt an emptiness in my stomach. I loved his music and his guitar-playing was world-class. I enjoyed his playing on Elvis's "Guitar Man, written by Jerry. Smokey and the Bandit was one of the funniest movies ever. I'm sorry I never got to see Jerry in person.
Jerry always seemed to enjoy himself and he brought me happiness. I read a few years ago that one of his favorite pasttimes was Bible study, so I know where he is now. I'll meet you sometime, Jerry. In the meantime, do some pickin' for our Heavenly Father.
Prayers and sympathy to the family.

I had the great pleasure of seeing Jerry perform at the GA Mountain Fair several years ago. What a show! He had a great voice, a wonderful sense of humor, and looked like he was having so much fun which translated to us in the audience. I'm sad knowing he's gone, but at least we have his recordings and movies to keep our memories fresh and to make us smile. May God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

Jerry You will be missed.God Bless YOU.REST IN PEACE.....
Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
The world has lost a great singer and composer. He probably is now writing a song for our Angels and God is smiling. Thanks for all the good music.
You will always live in our hearts and prayers.

"Well, I came a long way from the carwash,
Got to where I said Id get
Now that Im here I know for sure
I really aint got there yet
Think Ill start all over
Swing my guitar over my back
Im gonna get myself back on the track
Ill never, never ever look back
Ill never be more than what I am
Wouldnt you know

Rest up Guitar Man.

The first time I ever saw Anne Murrey, she appeared on a summer stock TV show singing with Jerry Reed. Funny what one remembers. He looked proud to sing with her. I liked his
personality in public.
