Dear Jim,
Being from Youngstown, Ohio and having lived in Miami from 1996-2005, I really enjoyed listening to you. I moved to NC in 2005, and listening to you was one of the things I missed the most. I return to Miami regularly for business and have been searching for your voice on QAM during every trip. It was not until today, August 20th, that I realized the news of your passing. I know you are missed. I also know that wherever you are, the party just got a lot better. I'll pray for your family and celebrate your life with a green lizard tonight.

Jim,
I am really sorry for your family and friends who will miss you dearly.
I will never forget the fun we had for a few years in the early 70's. Life was wonderful and you made it so much better. I still cherish a little box of letters and postcards you sent me from all over the world when you went on your U.S.O. tour. My parents were thrilled to meet you, especially my dad! You are such a great guy!!! Heaven is lucky to have you.

As a transplanted Redskins fan for the 10 years I lived in SoFla, Mad Dog's game calls were an 'acquired' taste. But his smart, funny and always engaging afternoon show made me a huge fan. I had the opportunity to meet him a few times over the years and always saw a class act, a true professional and one hell of a guy.

I often think of the Mad Dog when I roll the windows down, pop open the sun roof and crank the tunes. Now those thoughts will be bittersweet, but I will be smiling at the thought of the Mad Dog enjoying a cold one in a green bottle, with the angels.

My condolences to the Mandich family.
I just learned of Jim's death yesterday and was quite stunned by the news. I have great memories, growing up in Solon with him, playing football in the snow as kids, baseball in high school and getting together years later in Jacksonville for the TPC. You will be missed!
July 21, 2011
MadDog you would have never known how much you meant to me as the kind of person you were as you helped me just listening to you on the radio during my darkest days as a father with an Autistic daughter. You helped me pull thru with your outlook on Life.
Thank You very much, God Bless you and your wonderful family.
Rest in Peace my brother!

Our deepest comdolences to "The Mancich Family". Jim and the family are certainly in God's thoughts. He eager to heal the pain of losing a loved one.Psalms 147:3-" Our loving God is healing the broken hearted ones, and binding up their painful spots."

My Dad & Jim's Aunt Sally were cousins. I will always remember my Dad & Uncle Pete recalling how they used to have to trick Jim into getting his physicals for the season - he was afraid of needles. & the stories they told of how much he could eat. My greatest pride was that my cousin was a professional football player & an awesome man. I know that Aunt Sally & Uncle Pete are in heaven reunited with him and they are all looking down on us.

Rest n Peace Mad Dog Thanks for the memories and telling it like it is, Jimmy Lee Shaw
May 20, 2011
My name is June MacDonald, a former resident and teacher in the Miami schools, but most importantly a fan of #88 and a first cousin of his aunt Sally Mandich. She and her husband, Peter Mandich, adored Jim and supported him through his days as Captain of Michigan team. Jim treated Sally and me to a fine dinner at Shula's steak house when she came from Ohio to visit him. My deepest sympathy to all the family. I liked so much hearing his commentary on the radio.
May 14, 2011
I had the pleasure of taking care of Mr. Mandich in the hospital,he never complained and called except when the machines beeped. He gave generous gift for the staff for his calmness and kindness. All of us who have been blessed to have known him, from the immediate family to the fans etc,we take comfort in knowing that we have a special angel and saint watching and interceding for us.Like St.Therese of the Little Flower{she died at an early age never complained about her illness],his mission continues.I am sure he is watching and praying for the Heat right now because he knows what a championship brings to the community. He is truly a Saint in Heaven.
May 09, 2011
Often times when someone passes it is hard to remember their voice, if you are like me I will have no problem remembering Jim's. There are many fine gentlemen that were in those Dolphin teams, tough as nails as players with hearts of gold and compassion for others. If I were clicking the radio and heard Jim's voice..there was no more changing stations..cause you knew he was going to talk some football! He was a prize and we will never forget him...ever! Bless you Mad Dog...keep the chatter going in heaven!

My sincerest condolences to the Mandich family.
All of us sports fans in South Florida have lost one of our area most recognizable and passionate radio and TV voices.
I feel very fortunate to have met Jim the summer of 1994. I love sports and radio broadcasting and attended Mandich's 1st broadcasting camp. The experience will always be a highlight reel for me. I'll always remember 2 verbal gems of Jim's. They've been seared in my mind as each phrase was about pursuing a career and living life with integrity and authenticity. He was a wonderful and uplifting teacher.
Thank you, Jim...
May 07, 2011
It was truly a pleasure and an honor to have known you Jim. I was a Dolphin Doll in the 70's when you played. Then, as a flight attendant, we reminisced on the Dolphin charters about the good ole' days and what a great team the Dolphins were. You always had a smile on your face and were kind to everyone.

May 05, 2011
Not being from Miami I only knew Jim personally for a brief period of time, but as an TE for one of my favorite teams, I knew No. 88 real well!! Once getting to know Jim, his enthusiasm, passion for life, and commitment to giving 100% in all that he did helped me understand why he was such a good TE. To Jim's family, you are in my prayers.

TO JIM, I KNOW YOU ARE IN HEAVEN WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW BUT AS A WOMAN WHO LOVED FOOTBALL, WHAT MADE ME LOVE IT WAS YOUR VOICE AND YOUR HEART. YOU HAD AN HONESTY SO DEAREST. I WAS IN HARD TIMES WHEN YOU WERE PART OF UNBEATEN TEAM BUT KNOWING YOU ARE PART OF IT AND KNOWING HOW MUCH YOU LOVED MIAMI AND THIS CITY MADE THAT TIME VERY MEMORABLE. I REMEMBER YOU WORRYING WHEN THERE WAS A CHANCE THE STREAK WOULD END. YOU ARE A GREAT MAN JIM MANDICH AND I HOPE YOU CAN SEE HOW REALLY MEMORABLE YOU WERE AND MAYBE BROADCAST FROM HEAVEN. YOU ARE TRULY MISSED MR MAD DOG. YOUR FAMILY WAS AND IS VERY LUCKY TO HAVE HAD YOU IN THEIR LIFES, THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER MAD DOG. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Mandich and your three sons. While many of us Dolfans were lucky to listen to your husband and/or watch him play for the Dolphins, you were his pride and joy and one of the many reasons he was so loved by us fans. He was a great family man and spoke of you all the time and we are sorry for your loss.
May 05, 2011
After a stressful work day, I couldn't wait to turn on my car radio and listen to Mad Dog on the way home. He made me laugh so many times, a gift better than any other. I will miss his Dolphin announcing and unique spirit. I picture him "Jumping for Joy" and still entertaining others. I know his family is so proud of him.
May 05, 2011

A Miami resident 1955 to 1968, then Palm Beach Gardens after I still listen to WQAM 560 Sports where Jim Mandich always referred to as Mad Dog was Mister 560QAM about the most intellictual sport broadcaster rather talk show host. At times a call in dummy would be cut off however not as much as the HAMMER Hank Goldberg who preceded Jim. Joe Rose a later Dolphin is Big Dog hosting 560 until 10am worked with Joe. During early Miami days WKAT or KAT was sport station going back to Larry King followed by the HAMMER. I had good fortune to meet Jim "a class person" while broadcasting U of Miami basketball like the 1980s with Sonny Hirsch. Sonny broke in Joe Zigagi currently the voice of the CANES who co-owns MAD DOG & ZIGIS resturant in Isle Marada one of the Keys which appeared to be second home for Jim and his wonderful family.
Do not mean to ramble however these phrases will continue with all of us "FELT NEVER BETTER, RIDING WITH WINDOWS DOWN, DOWNING GREEN LIZZARDS. AWRIGHT MIAMI will continue to be with all of us. Lets not forget MAD DOG caught from Bob Greasie with a little over a minute left and losing the winning touchdown resulting in the DOLPHIN 1972 UNDEFEATED SEASON, YEAH MAD DOG.
God Bless Bonnie and their sons.

Jim Mandich will always be remembered by residents of Solon, Ohio. I remember Jim in his youth riding his bike around Solon, playing little league baseball, playing basketball, football, and track/field at Solon High School. We followed his college and professional football games with pride. Very sad here..

One of the kindest and most sincere men I ever met. Jim you will be missed
May 01, 2011
I am a dolphin fan from Connecticut, I believe it was the late nineties a friend and I flew from Connecticut to Jacksonville for the playoff game. It ended up being Marino and Jimmy Johnson's last game. We were in restaurant the night before the game with about 50-60 dolphin fans. As Jim walked through the door people starting say "Hey Mad Dog, Mad Dog." I had know idea who he was.. He walked up to the bar put a unlit cigar in his mouth and instructed the bar tender to start passing out green lizards. He had buy buy 20-30 beers for people. Once again he called the bar tender over and ask how much for a Jack Daniels. At this point I was close enough to hear the bar tender say $3.50. He said order them up for everyone..We made a toast to the fish. He pulled out his money gave it to the bar tender. It had to be around $400.00, put the cigar away and walked out. I was so impressed I ask a women who was that guy. She explained he was a former tight end and so on. I never forgot that.About 10 years later I saw his email on the WQAM website. I figured it could not hurt to email him. I retold that story and told him it was the classiest thing I have ever seen and thanked him for the green lizard and the shot of Jack Daniels. I knew he probably would not respond but at least I got to say thank you. One day later I get an email saying he remembered it like yesterday and that the fish got crushed, Danny retired and Jimmy quit and I was welcome for the green lizards. For some reason I saved in my email his email to me. Living in Connecticut and not listening to WQAM as much I was shocked to find out of his passing. I hope he looks down and realizes how many little things he did that meant a lot to the everyday Joe

We will miss "Mad Dog" He needs to be in the RING!!!!
April 28, 2011
he was a great player
April 28, 2011
Jim Mandich's radio broadcasts of the Fins Game were as good if not better than being there. He brought so much passion to the air waves. Most Sundays during football season I'm sitting my Open Houses (as a Realtor) here in Naples. We were blessed to attend several games a season. I always brought my portable "hurricane" radio to listen to the game - cannot imagine who could do it better than Mad Dog. I was so very sad to hear of his passing.

He definitely needs to be inducted in the "ring."
April 28, 2011
My son and I had the honor of meeting Jim in Buffalo last year for the season opener!! He took the time to shake my hand and chat for a few minutes!!! This was the highlight of our trip because He treated us like a friend!!!

I'm 50 years old which means that I've had Mandich's name intertwined in my brain since the age of 11.
There just aren't many out there like him. To say that he'll be missed will be an understatement. So let's enjoy those treasures that are still amongst us!
April 28, 2011
The passing of Jim 'Mad Dog' Mandich has left me grief-stricken beyond belief.
We all knew of his battle with cancer... but it's his death that has brought the realization
of just how important he was to all of us in Dolphinland.
Jim Mandich is truly one of the greatest legends in Miami Dolphins history!
What cemented him in Dolphin lore was the work he did well after his playing days.
His work in charities, especially his raising of money every year for ex-Dolphin players in need,
is without equal. But it was his broadcasting career that brought him into our homes and into our hearts.
Hearts that are so very heavy today!
Rest in peace, Jim!
Please tell God we said, "Thank you!"
For we will forever be blessed for your presence these last forty years!
April 28, 2011

The world is better since your visit here. A good man has moved on.
April 28, 2011
Although I am currently in Virginia, I grew up ia Mia & was in high school when Jim and the Dolphins had the perfect season. As a sportscaster he was a beloved character, a Homer and one of us. My mom & dad live in the Fla keys and when Jim used to talk about drinking green lizards and going boating in the Keys I'd head down memory lane. Now there is no one to do that, I will join the multitude of Jim Mandich fans and say "Thank you for making my life better..."

RIP Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich. You will be missed. You made my afternoon ride home with your humble, blue collar type radio show. You were the ultimate Dolphin's homer, yet you would rip them when deserved.

April 28, 2011
I met Jim at a family reunion a very long time ago. His father and my grandmother were related. The family didn't stay in touch but we were all so very proud of him. I still remember seeing him on the Ed Sullivan show when they featured college all-stars. I still have his picture when it was in Life magazine with other college players. Several of us family members would wear #88. My grandparents only watched football when the Dolphins were on. I'm sorry I didn't know him as an adult. He had to be a great person. My sympathies and prayers are with his wife and sons.
April 28, 2011
Mad Dog, you will be missed dearly! I was a member of the Touch Down Club in Miami in 2002-2003. Jim hosted the weekly show at Shula's. He was always a gentleman, well respected. There was nobody who could anaylize the game the way he did!

Sincerest condolences to the Mandich family. The outpouring of love and respect for Jim comes as no surprise to those of us who knew him where it all began - in Solon, Ohio. We in the Solon High School Class of 1966 felt we were given a firm foundation for the future. Jim was, of course, an outstanding athlete, but was also a member of National Honor Society, the ideals of which are: scholarship, leadership, character and service - sure sounds like Jim! I think we realized even then it was a wonderful time in our lives; and looking back on it now, there is no doubt. Jim, you will be missed. This is a sad time. God Bless you, Jim and God Bless your family.
April 28, 2011
Mad Dog!

April 28, 2011
This makes me so sad. I spend countless hours listening to him, and met him several times, for a few minutes each time, and now I feel like I've lost my brother. I don't know how to explain that.

He loved life, and you could hear that come thru in his voice everyday, without fail. He was only 62 years old for goodness sake! We were all robbed, but most of all, his family. And, Jim.

Say it ain't so!
April 28, 2011
Having sat alongside Jim calling Dolphin games, I appreciated his passion and love for the Dolphins. Jim will always be associated with loyalty, humility and courage in my mind.
April 28, 2011
RIP Mad Dog. You were a great example of a Michigan man that was kind to others and loved your passions, Michigan Wolverines and Miami Dolphins. You will be missed by many more than you knew.
April 28, 2011
I remember meeting the team at MIA after one of their wins in 72. I was probably 19. My friend and I saw Jim in the parking garage and ran up to him and kissed him on the cheek. He laughed. I am so very sad at his passing. I am living in SC and didn't even know he had been ill. So sorry for his family and friends. He was a great guy and soooo cute. Just sad.
April 28, 2011
# 88 Will always be remembered by those of us whose blood runs aqua & orange.

Live on with the Lord MAD DOG
April 28, 2011
While Jim was a legend in the Dolphins community, what impressed me the most was his unbridled passion for what he believed in, his integrity, character, loyalty and love of family. That is the measure of a role model and true man and he graduated with honors.
April 28, 2011
May the God of all comfort and tender mercies (2 Corinthians 1:3) be with the family of Jim Mandich during this difficult time.
April 28, 2011
He was a great man. Loved his voice and passion
April 28, 2011

April 28, 2011
Mad Dog, you will surely be missed. Rest in peace!
April 28, 2011
This a terribly sad day for Dolphin fans everywhere. Jim was one of a kind. His place is cemented in football history and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He belongs there for his contributions to football both on and off the field. I never missed any of his games when I lived in Miami. God bless you Jim and may your family find peace and comfort in knowing how very much you were respected and loved.

Elise Miller-Kiefer
April 27, 2011
I never got to see him play for the Dolphins, but I always loved his radio announcing. "Alllll right, Miami!" will always be classic.
April 27, 2011
Jim was always honest in assessing the way Miami played during each game he called. He celebrated with us during all of the wins and showed his frustation during the painful losses. He was a great broadcaster but most importantly his was a true Dolphin fan. No one will ever replace you Jim.
April 27, 2011
Our condolences to Jim's family. A sad day for Michigan fans. We were in the stands the day Jim and Bo beat Woody in the Big House. We watched him being carried off the field delerious with joy. His name and contribution to Michigan football history will never be forgotten by the True Blue Faithful. Say hi to Bo and Robbie Lytle, Jim. Hail to the Victors!

April 27, 2011
Thank you for the memories, Jimmy! A man's man.
April 27, 2011
To Bonnie and his three boys, I know that your loss is great - the greatest of all; but my entire diehard DOLFAN family is suffering too - right along with you!!! Listening to a Dolphins game will never be the same. His passing hurts so much. I am so glad we traveled to Cincinnati last fall because I will remember that as my last encounter with the GREAT MAD DOG! Every encounter with him -- was always a pleasure -- that was the very special kind person that he was - even to his unknown (almost) adoring fan base! Rest in peace -- You left us all many fond memories - and made an awesome mark on this world - I'm sure you have started the same on the next!
April 27, 2011
Jim,
It's a sad day in Miami and across this country. Mad Dog was the Miami Dolphins voice and personality.Everyone grew to love him. Listening to Dolphins games on the radio will never be the same.Mad Dog & "AWAAARIGHT MIAMI" will never be forgotten in the hearts of all the DolFans.

April 27, 2011
There won't be a listener anywhere that will hear a Dolphins game the same after "The Maddog's" passing.
My thoughts and well wishes go out to his family he was so proud of.
April 27, 2011
My heart goes out to his family. His radio broadcasts made a person feel he/she were at the game. My sympathy to the family. He exemplified integrity. He never disguised his mistakes or weaknesses. He will be missed.
April 27, 2011
My families first season as season ticket holders was 1970. I was five years old. The Dolphins were sports to me. Nothing else mattered. As such, those who represent the Dolphins with class and passion hold a special place in my heart. No one epitomizes that thought more so than Jim Mandich. As I grow older, the goodbyes come too often. Thank you, Mr Mandich and God Bless your family.
April 27, 2011
Know he's riding around with the windows down in heaven. Few voices can be considered memorable, but his was, as was his personality. I'm sure we all wish we could have known him on a more personal level.

So sorry to hear about Jim's passing.
I met him 3-4 years ago in the Keys at his resturant along with his wife Bonnie. What a lovely couple. My husband knew them through work. May god guide them through this difficult time and we'll be praying for you.
April 27, 2011
Shocking news. Jim was the "Fins" in the glory years. Tough, undersized, a winner!! A true overachiever and coaches dream. A classic in all senses of the word. May God be with you Jim....
April 27, 2011
Meeechigan has lost a friend and a great fan. Maybe you and Bo can get something going up there for the Wolverines. We know you'll be watching.
April 27, 2011
I'm a lifelong AFL/AFC/Jets fan who remembers Jim from the early Dolphins. I moved to South Florida in 1995 and began listening to Jim on local radio. Jim was smart, direct, and loyal.
April 27, 2011
I am saddened that I will never hear that distinctive "Alright Miami!!!" You will be missed by this community and never forgotten. Thank you Jim for all the memories you gave us. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family.
April 27, 2011
I was 10 years old when my dad took me to Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, MN to see the Dolphins-Vikings game early in the '72 season. We sat in the end zone where Mad Dog caught Griese's pass to keep alive the perfect season. A memory a lifetime Dolfan will never forget. RIP.
April 27, 2011
Give Bo a big hug for all of us Jim. You are missed and remembered for being a true blue Michigan Wolverine and proud Miami Dolphin. They simple don't make 'em like you any more. So if you're riding around with your windows down in the great beyond, here's to you, Jim! God bless you and your beloved family.
April 27, 2011
Dolphins Radio will never be the same without you. I will miss you greatly. My condolences to the Mandich Family. Of course, we are all part of that Family. Love You Man!
April 27, 2011
Having been a life long Miami Dolphins fan, I was in high school during the 72 and 73 Glory Years. I live in Connecticut, so I do not have the pleasure of listening to his radio show, but we will never forget "Hands" Mandich, the great Miami TE !!
April 27, 2011
Will miss your play by play on Sundays. I can only get most Phin games on NFL.com and after years of listening on there I found myself muting the tv when they were on so I could get the play by play from You and Joe. You were the voice of the Miami Dolphins...My prayers go out to the family.

Like many here, more often than not turned off the tv sound just to hear Jim tell us his thoughts during Dolphin games. Even with the delay - it was worth it. He will be missed so much. One of a kind indeed.
April 27, 2011
Dolphin's games won't be the same anymore with out Mad Dog. Sad time in Dolfan land. May god be with him and his family.

April 27, 2011
My heart and prayers go out to the Mandich family and ALL Dolphins fans! There are some staples to the Dolphins Franchise; Shula's jaw, Csonka's Nose, Marino's release, and Jim "Mad Dog" Mandich's broadcasts! Mad Dog will be sorely missed! Here's one last "Alright Miami", Jim's popular call. Rest in Peace!

April 27, 2011
Our condolences to Jim's fmaily. He gave us wonderful memories during a time when hard work and faithful fans wre the norm. We knew every player and attended every home game. Thanks for the memories.
April 27, 2011
Like so many fans, I'm very saddened over the passing of the Mad Dog. If I wasn't able to be at or watch the game, you can bet I always listened to the broadcast and always enjoyed Jim's energetic honesty relating to his team. The shining light, heart and soul of Miami Dolphin Football has been extinguished way to early. There will never be another Jim Mandich. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and all of us who loved you will be miss you tremendously.
Jimbo you were truly the best!
April 27, 2011
He'll be missed, but never forgotten by anybody who ever had the pleasure of listening to him! A Miami Dolphins touchdown call will never be the same again. I really thought that he was tougher than cancer...I was wrong. May God bless him and his family.
April 27, 2011
It is heartbreaking. We have lost a True Legend in Radio and Sports.

His powerful and electric voice which dazzled his audience, captivated us.
Even at the games, we would have a headset tuned in to hear
"ALLLL... RIGHT... MIAMI".

"MAD DOG" had an exhilarating smile, was warm, friendly and there for his fans.

As we sit here wearing our signed Heinken caps, I think of how football season will never be the same.

Though we will miss you Mandich,

You will live on in our hearts forever!!

God Bless you and your family!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES MAD DOG!

Needless to say, but you will be missed greatly. I've been a Dolphin's fan for 25 years or so... you were the light during horrible seasons. I always looked forward to listening to your radio show in the afternoons in WQAM. Go on and join the Football Gods up in heaven. Rest in Peace.
April 27, 2011
Really sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He made listening to Dolphins games unique and it won't be the same without him. In God's hands rest in peace Jim.
April 27, 2011
I worked with Jim on one of his earliest TV projects. "Sunday Night Sports Rap" on WBFS-TV33. He was always tenacious, prepared and funny...and a heck of a businessman too. And over the years I would bump into him hear and there and he was always so nice and happy. I loved, as everyone else, his crazy anitcs on the radio but we loved him more for it. To his wife and son's my sincerest condolences. To all the South Florida Dolphion fans... he will be sorely missed

April 27, 2011
I'll always enjoy the great e-mail messages we shared over our joy and frustration that is the Miami Dolphins. Although we never met, I will always consider you a friend! Your announcing of the play that resulted in Miami not going winless in '07 was a highlight in a year of lowlights, and your great catch in the Super Bowl in that undefeated season that set up Jim Kiick's plunge was a statement as to the toughness you and that organization were! God Bless and Rest easy, my friend!
April 27, 2011
From one Dolfan to the greatest one ever. Thank you Jim. You were so much more than a football player. God bless.
April 27, 2011
It is heartbreaking. We have lost a True Legend in Radio and Sports.

My husband and I became captivated by his powerful, and electric voice. He had a way of making you feel as though you were in the action itself.

"MAD DOG" had an exhilarating smile, was warm, friendly, and there for his fans.

This Cold One is for you my friend!

He will live in our hearts forever!

God Bless you and your family!

April 27, 2011
This not only makes me feel sad for "Jim" but it also show's all of us how the time is passing by. One more sports "Icon" goes way to early this sure brings back a better day and "Sunday's" on "Mom's" couch watching the "Gang" playing ball. R.I.P. "Jim.
April 27, 2011
In 1996, I and about 10 other guys signed up for the "Jim Mandich School of Broadcasting." We got a chance to hang out with Jim and his buddies for 4 or 5 days from breakfast until dinner and boy was I envious of the way that guy carried himself. He was so confident and in control and everything you want to grow up to be. One of my favorite quotes from Mandich: "Let Me Re-insert My Eyeballs." He was unique.
April 27, 2011
My prayers are with Bonnie, Mark, Michael and Nick. Jim was a dear friend to me many years ago in the early 70's. I had the great pleasure to meet up with him when he came to Denver two years ago to do the Dolphin vs Bronco game. My son and I had brunch with him. I know he is at peace and I wish the same for his family.
April 27, 2011
I just had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mandich in Sept. of last year at the DCC. I was amazed at how courageous he was. I have followed his career for quite some time. He was an incredible man and will be missed greatly. God Bless the Mandich family during this difficult time and may you find peace in your memories.
April 27, 2011
I remember Jim real well. He played on the best team ever in the NFL. I never missed any of their games. Jim may be gone, but his memory and that of the Dolphins will live on. God bless you Jim.
April 27, 2011
Thank you for the decades of insight, irony and humor. Will not have to select a most favorite sports caster/commentator.

My best energy for you and yours. Again, thank you.
April 27, 2011
Jim was a perfect example of the most unselfish team in pro football history. Sharing time with Marv Fleming, he helped make the tight end position a solid one for the Fins. God bless you Jim.
April 27, 2011
Very sad news. As a German Dolphins I live thousands of miles away from Miami. But thanks to Jim´s passionate commentary on the internet radio on game days, I always felt like being right there in the stands at Pro Player Stadium. Thank you for the great memories and rest in peace "Mad Dog", you will be missed!
April 27, 2011
When we heard of Jim's passing it brought a tear to both our hearts and eyes. He was always positive and fun to listen to as well as hang out with at personal appearances. He may not have kown us personally but always made us feel like we were long time friends.
Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Rest in Peace...you will truly be missed.
Bonnie & Steve Hass
April 27, 2011
I will never forget the first time I met Jim Mandich. It was a regular season game in New England in 1996. I was sitting eating dinner and he came in and sat in the table next to me. He could see that I was looking at the huge ring on his finger and out of the blue he took it off and said, "try it on." Before I knew it I was wearing the Superbowl ring of the 1972 Dolphins. My hand was shaking. He asked me how long I had been a fan and told him since 10 years of age. Dolphin fans will miss Mad Dog.
April 27, 2011
TO THE VOICE OF THE MIAMI DOLPHINS "AWAAARIGHT MIAMI" PEACE. LOVE FROM A FAN AND RADIO FAMILY.

ALLEN INFANTE
April 27, 2011
I reiterate Orlando's sentiments I never got the chance to meet "Mad Dog" but when I was a kid struggling to get on my feet in Miami his straightforward broadcasts made my day. My condolences to the family, friends, Dolphins and whole South Florida Community. Love ya Jim, Rest In Peace.
April 27, 2011
I shared a few classes with Jim at Michigan, and though he was an All American tight end, he came across as just one of the guys. What a nice guy. I've told my kids about him over the years. Taken way too early.
April 27, 2011
My thoughts and prayers are with Bonnie, their three sons and Jim's family.

May the comfort of friends and family be your strength now and in the days ahead.

Wishing you God's peace.
April 27, 2011
I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but like an old friend i could always count on you every sunday to inform and enlighten. You will be forever missed. Thank you, R.I.P. MADDOG
April 27, 2011
Jim Mandich was a truly wonderful human being. He was a kind and honest man who cared about the people he came in contact with. He had a huge impact on my life and I regret that I never told him that. My deepest sympathies go out to his family. Miami has lost one of it's true heros. I feel priviledged to have known him and spent some time with him. He has left the world a better place because of the way he lived. I will always think of him fondly. We'll clink some green lizards for you today Mad Dog!! God Bless You, Rest in Peace
April 27, 2011
To the Mandich family:
I've been a Dolphins fan for almost 40 years. I enjoyed listening to Jim's shows and even more so his analysis of games where I would rather listen to the radio than watch the game.
I know he did a lot to help former Dolphins and he was one of the classiest men to ever wear the aqua and orange as well as the maize and blue.
My sympathies go out to you for your loss.
April 27, 2011
Thanks Mad Dog for all your wonderful commentaries! You will be missed by so many people far and wide. God bless.
A Fan
April 27, 2011

A tremendous, good-hearted radio talent. I'm saddened by his loss. When my daughter was about 10, she got such a kick out of the "Ask Mad Dog" segment of the Sunday night sports program on channel 10. Very sad day, not just for S Fl, but for the planet.
April 27, 2011
It was my pleasure to watch you play in the perfect season andover the rest of your career also to meet you personally and chat over the Dolphins play a couple of times. Not to mention to hear you over the radio and broadcasting the games. Always loved your honesty and character.I'll cherish your personalized autograph picture now more than ever. My prayers are with your family and God and his Grace be with them and you. Thanks Victor
April 27, 2011
How sad. I heard Jim was sick but never life threatning.

What a loss to his wife, family, the sporting industry and South Florida. Jim will be missed but never forgotten.

During my days my Serbian friend and I had many opportunities to visit. I respected and admired him dearly.

To his entire family I extend my condolences. He gave so much to so many and a piece of Jim Mandich will be with all of us who knew, respected and admired him

May his memory be eternal. Sam Jankovich

He was one of those special, rare personalities who not only entertained, but taught us something more in his attitudes, enthusiasms, and exclamations of joy--something not just about sports or football but about life and how to live it. I won't forget.
April 27, 2011

Being a Dolphins Fan in NY, I not only survived the seasons by listening to Jim's incredible broadcasts on the radio (thanks sirius and internet), loved the heck out of them.

I am terrible saddened at the loss of this great all around person.
April 27, 2011
To the Mandich family, So sorry for this loss of a great man,and football player he will be missed, Ed Jeffries, long time fan
April 27, 2011
Jim Mandich, you were the face of the Miami Dolphins for over 40 years and your love and passion for the team and South Florida is a tremendous loss. As a boy I thrilled to your diving catch in SB VII and your winning touchdown against the Vikings in week 4 to preserve the undefeated season. As a man I always looked forward to your radio commentary when I was back in Miami from my home in California. My friends and I relished your "AWWWRight Miami" on game days. We loved your contempt for the "Golden Domers". Mostly we loved your zest for sports, family and friends which was evident each and every day on your radio show. I will miss your stories, your passion and your absolute positive love for life. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

RIP Jim Mandich.
April 27, 2011

To the Mandich Family: Thank you for sharing the Mad Dog with us over the decades. "ALLLLL RIIIIGHT," is part of my every day lexicon because of Jim's influence. And I'll always refer to the, "stinkin, filthy, rotten, Jets in their garish green," twice a year!
One of my most valued posessions is my #88 autographed Dolphins jersey.

A rare human being who stood up for who and what he was. His efforts at helping those less fortunate were never publicized , but always at the forefront of who he was. We have been honored to be part of his life, and since I met him when I was 11 outside the old OB locker room, and he was very nice to my mom , have always had the highest respect for him. As a person, as a man, and as someone who didnt compromise his principles.
Thak you Jim, for making this a better place to be .

I would listen to you on the radio with the tv muted. You made the games a whole new experience. However it is how you handled your self as a man, father and player. I will always remember you saying when you were not going to do the games one year "don't cry because its over, smile because it happened".
To Jim's family; I am a 46 year old man that runs a business, and I wished that I had leadership or a father figure in my life like Jim Mandich.

Having grown up in south Florida during the 70's, Mad Dog was a personality that became an oasis in the insanity that was and is drive time commute. I met him at Dolphin draft parties and as a caller to his show and what you saw (and heard) is what you got. There was no pretension or airs about Mandich. He was one version of the best the baby boomers have to offer. Good-bye Jim and thanks.

I began watching you as a kid , & you became family throughout the years. You will be sorely missed. God Bless You & Yours.
April 26, 2011
He’s knocking back Green Lizards up there, watching all the best Fins and Wolverine games on a stadium-size big screen.

I’ll really miss him. He was the only radio personality I ever made time to listen to on a regular basis.

He had this pure honesty about him; straightforward, tell it like it is, but with a grace to which we could all aspire...
April 26, 2011
Jim, we will miss you...I hope you are riding around with your windows down with a green lizard in your right hand in heaven. R.I.P.
April 26, 2011

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jim Mandich. I'd listen to Jim and Joe Rose every morning, they were a part of my morning ride to work for many years. I had the pleasure of meeting and having my picture taken with Jim last year at the Draft Party. His courage and positive attitude toward his illness and treatment was truly inspirational. This is a sad day for so many people, the world has suffered a tremendous loss. I pray that his family and friends can find some comfort and peace knowing that God has taken him home. Thank you for sharing this wonderful man with so many people. He will never be forgotten and will be missed by all.

I knew Jim Mandich since I was a little boy at the age of 9. I grew up across the street from him in Miami Lakes. Over the years, I had the opportunity to spend time with Jim and saw him almost every day at Don Shula's Athletic Club. I am deeply saddened by his passing and will miss his voice on the radio and his smile and sense of humor. Rest in peace mad dog. You will be sorely missed.
