My condolences to the Murphy family. I only met you recently and briefly, but we shared common friends and interests. May the memory of a great man carry you through these difficult days.
John "Murph" Murphy was "the day crew's" first Fire Chief in the 1970s, when Jeff Selvideo, Will Paul, "the Twins" (Kirk and Karl Nelson) and myself spent so many hours at the East Great Plain firehouse through our high-school and college years. When I joined the Rose City Chorus and was named their music director, John gave me all of his Barbershop music to get me started. After his retirement, and after my wife and I moved to Canada to do Bible translation for the Naskapi, John went back to the Chorus and I returned all his music to him, so he could keep on singing "The Old Songs". What a joy to visit the Chorus from time to time when we were back in Connecticut and sing with him, or to see John and Eloise having breakfast at "Old Tymes" when I would come in with the men's group from church. Thank you for your kind words and smile that you always had for me. You will be remembered and those memories will be cherished. Our prayers are with your loving family that you leave behind. Blessings, Bill and Norma Jean
