It's been a very long time Chism, but today is Memorial Day so of course you come to my mind. I wish I could thank you for everything you've done. And know that we always miss you. I always knew that the crazy guy in ROTC, and one of my best friends would do something great with his life. And you did:) we love you Chism.
It's been a while chism. I don't ever post but I read stories about you all the time, I check back on what people drop in and say. I guess it helps to remember the days back when you drove my brother and I to school, skipping school and going ride to St. Francisville for no apparent reason. Jamming to nelly. I can still smell that purple car freshner you used in that mustang. I bet no one will forget that diesel isuzu you sported. You were a good friend to everyone and I can't think of one person that didnt know you. I can go on and on with stories. I'm sure everyone could. I just decided to post today to let your family know what you meant to everybody. A friend, mentor and a hero. The most noble person we know. Thank you for doing what most don't, thank you for not being selfish and thank you for giving life your all. It was short, but well honored. My thoughts are with you, my fallen friend and American hero.
To the family and friends of Spc. Johnathan B. Chism:
It has truly been my honor to sign Johnathan's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Johnathan will always be remembered in my home.
With love and respect ~ Peggy
Thinking of and Honoring Spc. Jonathan Chism on this day. His memory and sacrifice lives on perpetually even by strangers such as myself, who were aware of such events. Prayers are being said for his family.
I was with Jonathan in basic training, Fort Richardson, and over in Iraq with him at different COB's. I will miss him and I wish the family peace and comfort.
God Bless SPC. Johnathan Chism. Thank you for your sacrifice to our country, to my family, and every American. Thank you too your parents and family for allowing SPC Chism to serve our country. May God Bless all of you and someday give you all joy in heaven when you meet again. SPC Johnathan B. Chism YOU ARE A TRUE AMERICAN HERO!!!!!
January 20, 2012
To the family and friends of Spc. Johnathan B. Chism:
Always remembering Johnathan. "Some gave all."
Chism, just started thinking about the old days when we all hung out in school and started missing you. Can't believe it has been four years already. I miss you and hope you know how much everyone loves/loved you and miss you. Watch over us all until we see each other again.
Spc Chism was/IS a war hero in every way. He gave his life for me and the rest of all of Ameica. We could never even begin to pay him back, nor his family back. Mr Chism died a hero.
I also wanted to state that my nephew was with Bryan when he lost his life, and to this day, and the rest of eternity I will be truly thankful to Bryan for his service to this great nation. I don't believe my nephew would be here today if it weren't for the actions of Bryan on Jan 20, 2007. We are a safer and better country because of him.
To the family and friends of Spc. Johnathan B. Chism:
Please accept my remembrance of Johnathan on the anniversary of his passing and know that he will never be forgotten.
In Loving Memory of our Friend, Jonathan Bryan Chism. Wanted to let you know, i drank one for you on new years. Miss you bro.

Dear Elizabeth and Danny Chism,
What a hero your son Johnathan was. He certainly enjoyed life. You must have been very proud of him and miss him every day. I am a member of Prayer Shawls for Fallen Soldiers. We send prayer shawls to family members who would like them to show that they are not forgotten and that we have compassion and gratitude for their and your ultimate sacrifice. If we can send you or anyone in the Chism family a prayer shawl in honor and memory of Bryan, please contact me with names and addresses. We would be honored to do that. Thank you and God Bless you.
I stopped by your grave site today to say a prayer for you and to thank you for your service to our great country. I am also praying for your family and friends who I know miss you so much.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and always dear.
Rest in peace,
We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families. War does not discriminate – It breaks my heart to see the faces of the fallen. The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Johnathan, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

"Don't Let The Memory Of Them Drift Away"
Just wanted you to know that we all still think about you every day. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about how much fun we all had in school together.
Ms. Betsy and Julie,
I know that it has been a long and hard year for the two of you and for many who knew Bryan as well. May all of our hearts mend in time and never forget the kindness Bryan showed everyone.
Although I never knew Spc. Jonathan B. Chism, I keep him and his family and other fallen soldier's families close to my heart and in my prayers. Remember in hard times that he is looking down from Heaven and keeping you safe and smiling. Thank You for serving our country, and keeping us safe.
May he rest in Peace with the Lord, and his families' hearts heal in time.
Proud Wife-to- Be of a Soldier in Iraq
You are remembered and respected. Thank you Spc Chism!
There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the Chism Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences, at this most difficult time. I lost my husband 6 months ago, due to brain cancer. I just wanted to say "Thank You" to you, your dearly missed son, and other families who have lost loved ones in this battle. If it werent for your brave children to fight the good fight, people like us, who were unable to do so wouldnt have a chance. I think I speak for many who are in similar situations as mine, Your son did not pass in vain. He was a very courageous man, who apparently had wonderful parents.
Please know that many are praying for you and your loved ones during this time of sorrow. I pray that the Loving Father will embrace your sorrow, and somehow comfort you in the days to come.
Keeping your family in my prayers,
As well as those who are still over there,
To the Chism family,I extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathy.First I thank God for Johnathan and for his service and committment to our country. It is true that Freedom is not Free. You all have made the ultimate sacrifice and I thank you. My husband served for 30 years until his sudden death three days before the onset of this war.I have learned through his death that weeping may endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning.Continue to trust God and believe that he does know what is best. My children and I will continue to pray with you all. I grew up in Prairieville, and graduated from E.A. in 1977.I feel connected to you all because my parents still live there. I am still a part of the military community and will be happy to assist you all in anyway that I can.God Bless Each of you.
May God wrap his loving arms around your family in the days and months ahead. "In my father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you...." John 14
Thank you for being so brave and protecting our country. My heart goes out to all of your family.
God bless you.
To Bryan's Family and Friends,
Yesterday I stood with flag in hand as the body of your beloved Bryan journeyed to his final resting place. I never had the privilege of meeting him, nor do I know any of you, his family and friends, but none of that mattered. You see, Bryan didn't know me either, yet he selflessly gave his life in Iraq so that I might continue to live mine in peace. How could I not honor him? I am so very sorry for your loss and hope that the gratitude of strangers, such as myself, will help at least in some small way to lessen your pain over time.
Please know that:
As an American, I share in your pride of Bryan,
As a parent, I can only imagine your grief, as there can be no greater pain;
And as a Christian, I believe that Bryan is safely home with the Lord in a place beyond all imagining, anxiously awaiting the glorious reunion that he will share one day with each of you in heaven.
You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks so much for serving our country. Our prayers are with your family.
My deepest sympathies and respect for your son and family.
As he honorably served, I honor him and remain.
words can not express the lost of your son and our hero yall will be in our prayer we did not no him but he will always be a hero for standing up for our country
I am deeply sorry for you and your family's loss and extend my prayers to you all. I did not know Johnathan, but I have been touched my his heroism. I truly respect anyone in our military. He will be forever rememebered.
Spc. Johnathan Bryan Chism, U.S. Army, A Soldier, A Hero, "I thank God upon my every remberance of you."(Philippians 1:3)
We will forever hold a special place in our hearts for our soldiers,
our heroes, and we will be forever grateful for the sacrifices they
have made. May the Lord bless your family with peace and comfort.
You and your family are in my prayers. Your son is a true hero.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Dear Chism Family,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. Words alone cannot still the grieving heart, but know many people grieve with you.
Your son served proudly and gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He served when many run. For this, he will remain a hero forever in the memories of those who knew and loved him. I thank you for raising such a fine son.
God Bless you all in your time of mourning.
U.S. Army Ret.
Bryan is a Hero! He has obviously touched many in his short time here. Bless you all.
To The Chism Family,
You seem like the type of man all mothers hope their son would turn out to be like. You are a hero. I just wanted to thank you and your family. May you rest in peace.
Patty, Glo, Linda, Kim and I stood with our American Flags along the street as the funeral procession passed to the Church. We stood again with Flags farther down the street as they passed to the cemetery. We didn't know him personally, but we've known so many men and women like him. So many who will sacrifice so much for us. To stand in cold silence seems so little to offer, but we saw faces who seemed truly grateful to us for being there. A few mourners attempted a smile and a "thank you", but most of them seemed to be lost in haze of grief and pride. A grief so deep it has no description and the pride of knowing there are so many of us who are thankful for men and women who gladly wear their uniforms and do the jobs some will never understand. We can't feel the depths of your grief, but we do feel the height of your pride. Thank you!
Johnathan Chism is a true American Hero. Your sacrifice is great but he will be remembered.
Our deepest sympathy go out to the entire family.
We are a retired military family and have a grandson currently serving in Iraq.
He was brave and had the courage many lack. I'm so sorry his life ended in such a way. I have a son that will enlist when he graduates and I hope he has your sons courage.
May God bless you and see you through this troubled time.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Chism,
As the father of a U.S. Marine who has served one tour of duty in Iraq and is scheduled to leave for his second tour in May, I would like to say how proud I am of your son and all the other young men and women who serve and sacrafice that we may sleep under the blanket of thier protection. As a veteran I understand what it takes away from your family when you leave them to do what your heart tells you is your duty. It is sometimes said that Heros are hard to find. People who understand the meaning of Duty, Honor and Country need to look no further than those who fight for freedom and Democrocy and as your Son has done, give the ultimate sacrifice. For those who fight for it, the taste of freedom is something the protected will never know. I will be looking on as your son passes me in route to his final resting place with pride and sorrow for you and your family. God Bless you all.
To the Chism Family,
Your sacrifice was immense but I and my family want to thank you for having such a great son. He worked on keeping us safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
He will never be forgotten. In this trying time please know there are many people thats hearts are with you.
I hope that God will help you through this. If more men had his courage this world would be a better place.
I pray you find the peace you need.
I didn't know you or your family but it honors me to know you went there to protect me and my family. I would have been there in support of you but I had my confirmation retreat this weekend and could not come. I will be joining the Marines and will always remember your sacrifice and carry you name on me somewhere to make sure that no one forgets.
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
I am so sorry to hear about your son ms chism i was in your class at EA may prayes are with you wished i could have been there to give your a hug. I want to thank you for your son and want he did for us and i would like to thank his sister for her life she puts on the line for us to.
Danny, Betsy and Family -
My heart goes out to you and your family. I pray that God will give you strength and help all of you through this most difficult time.
As a Vet and the father of six vets, with three grandchildern currently "military brats" my heart hurts for you at the lose of Johnathan. My son went to school with him at St Amant, and was impressed with his kindness.
I am "on call" up here in St Francisville, but wish I could be there to share you pain. If you see a gap in the line of loving people, God saved that spot for me.
God bless you and Johnathan.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
To the Family of Johnatan, We saw the article about your brave son who fought for our freedom and lost his life. To say thank you for his sacrifice does not begin to express our feelings, but we are so grateful to your son and other brave Americans. May God bless your family in your time of grief and loss. Our prayers are with you.
To the Chism family,
I did not have the honor to know your son. All I know is that he was a very brave man who gave his life for his country so that I can live my life feeling safe. That's all I need to know about Bryan because you see he sacrificed his life for me and so many others. Your son is a hero in my eyes. My husband and I have a very true and deep respect for the men and women in uniform that protect our country. Tomorrow, you may see us standing tall and proud along the procession route waving our American flags in salute to your son. It's just the only way we know how to show you how much we really care. Please know that our hearts ache for the loss that your family feels. Find your strength in prayer and know that there are many others like us that are so proud of your son just as you are.
May God Bless your family.
We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name.
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part
God has you in His keeping
We have you in our Heart.
We did not know Bryan, but wanted to express our deepest sympathy to his very loving family. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this very difficult time. Your son Bryan was very brave and will be a Hero to all.
To the Chism family:

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your boy. Thank you for the beautiful gift of your son you gave us. May the Lord hold you close in His arms.
Grace & Peace
I would like to say "Thank You" for letting your son protect our country. He is a true hero. You have been in our prayers.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
I am so sorry for you loss. Your son is a true American Hero.
Thank you for serving our country and making the ultimate sacrifice. We are proud of you. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. May god give them comfort during this very difficult time
Our deepest sympathy to Chism Family, our thoughts and prayers will be with you. He is safely home with GOD.

May JEHOVAH GOD sustain you all during this difficult time. Psalms 55:22.
We did not know Bryan, we are very saddened to hear about the tragic death of your son. Only time and the comfort of the Lord will ease the pain you and your family have. Our prays are with the Chism family at this time.
To the Chism Family:
You are in our thoughts and in our prayers during this difficult time.
I am greatly saddened to hear of the loss of Bryan. I had the pleasure of being around Bryan a number of years ago as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 76 in Galvez. My son, Eric, also 22, was an active member of that troop and he remembers Bryan very well. I will always remember Bryan as a typically goofy 12-13 year old running around doing the things that young boys do. Please know that our prayers are with you during this trying time.
May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead. I want to thank your son for giving his all for my freedom. He is a true HERO.
My son, Donovan, and Bryan played on the same AYBA basketball team in their younger years! The memories of them playing together will stay with me forever. Please know that as a mother of a soldier whose enlisted with the LA Army National Guard, I feel your sorrow, your pain and your loss. Please know that my family and I are praying for you, your daughter and Bryan. Bryan is truly "our HERO"!!!
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
WITH OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY IN THIS TIME OF YOUR LOSS.
Your family is in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time. I thank you for raising such a fine young man. His sacrifice will not be forgotten. God Bless You.
We are very saddened to hear of your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family .

To the family of Johnathan: I would like to express my extreme condolences to you'll for such a sacrifice that has been made by such a brave young man. He gave his life for my family and others to have freedom in a country that we love. The ultimate price he paid is unspeakable.
I did not know this young man personally, but he grew up in my parish, in my state, in my country which makes him family.
God has decided that his work on earth was complete and has taken him to a final resting place. God Bless You All. You'll will remain in our prayers.
Again - Thank You Johnathan
To the Chism Families:
Although I don't know Bryan or your family, my daughter knows him from school and friends. I am VERY sorry for you loss. You should be proud of this fine young man for fighting to try to make this a better and safe place for everyone and those he loved back home. I know no words can be expressed to make you feel better, but just take comfort in knowing he was fighting for everyone to make it safe but somehow he got caught in the middle and paid the price, just as Jesus did when he died for everyone. Heaven now has another fine young man that has made his family proud. He will always be with you, remember all the good times that make you laugh and in time the ones that will make you cry.
God Bless you Chism Family!!
May you REST IN PEACE
Spc. Johnathan Bryan Chism!!!!

Danny,Betsy and Julie, My family sends it sincere condolences at this time.Bryan was a great kid and a funny character to say the least.Dad is suppose to call you Danny (Jimmy Young) he has spoken to Mr.Ray a few times since we found out. It's hard to believe that our sons graduated together. The death of a child is so unbearable may God bring you some peace at this time and in the future. Bryan is a Hero and Hero's are never forgotten.God Bless Bryan and God Bless the Chism family at this most difficult time.
Betsy, I was very saddened to hear about the tragic death of Bryan. When reading about the death of soldiers who are bravely defending all of us I hope that I never have to see a name that I recognize. I remember Bryan to be very nice young man who loved and respected you very much. I know he will be missed by not only you and his family but by all the people he came in contact with.
Only time and the comfort of the Lord will ease you and your family through this process. As a nation we are proud of Bryan's commitment and all mourn his sacrifice for the sake of our freedoms. He will forever be your son and for that you should be proud - to know that he was loved and that he loved you. God Bless.
Danny and Family,
There are no words to ease the pain you must have now. Johnathan was a gift to you and to all of America, He now rest in Peace with God for giving his life for others. I am so sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you and your family.
Robin T. Guillot and Family
Cindy and I taught Sunday School and played praise music St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church between ’93 and ’95 and remember Bryan well. He was only 2 weeks older than our daughter Jessica who also remembers him well. Our oldest son Donald is in the Army and sends his prayers as well. Bryan touched our life in a great way. He is forever a hero and will be greatly missed. We are so sorry for your loss. The Lord has won a brave warrior and brought him home to a celebration we can only dream of.
It has been about 12 or 14 years since my family and I last saw the Chism's, but we went to the same church together at St. Gregory. I myself am in the US Army and have been serving for the last 9 years. This is yet another great American giving his life for what He..We believe in. Good Bless you.
John J. Chaconas, Cindy, Jessica & Christen
I can not begin to imagine the pain that Bryan's loss is causing all of the Chism family. Please accept our most sincere condolences in this time of grief. Please know that you are not alone. We offer our shoulders to cry on, our ears to hear your sobs, and our hearts to feel your pain. It is our hope that in sharing your grief and pride in Bryan's service, that it assists you in some way with this incredible burden. Thank you for allowing us to honor Bryan - a small return for the honor that he has done for us. The pain of these recent days will dull in time and we hope that you may find some solace in the memory of the thousands of Americans that have offered their prayers and support for Bryan and your family. America's defenders are truly a brotherhood and it is our honor to accompany our brother on his final journey. God bless you and yours.

Happy Valentines day:)
Our sincere condolences to all of Johnathan's family. We are so appreciative of his service to our country and will continue to pray for his soul and the souls of all our soldiers who have died in combat.
My prayers go to his family. I am so sorry for your loss. May God be with you at this time. Your son was an US HERo in our eyes.
THINKING OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. TRY TO REMEMBER BRYAN WITH SMILES AND LAUGHTER AS I AM SURE HE WILL REMEMBER YOU ALL.
My deepest sympathy to you Danny and your family. Although it has been many years, I remember quite well the times spent with Cissy when y'all lived in Morganza. Your son is a hero to me and all Americans. He joins our dear friend Marine Cpl David "Bear" Stewart of Bogalusa who gave all in Iraq August 2005. Thanks to Bryan and Julie for willingly serving our country and protecting our freedoms. God Bless.
My prayers goes out to Chism's family and friends, he was a great friend, funny character, daredevil, sweet and caring, hard worker and someone perfect for defending our country. I will never forget the first time we had a class together in 1999, he always made me laugh. He was always there when I needed a shoulder to lean on. I am going to miss him so much, now he is in heaven with all of our friends and family looking down on us, one day we will be with him again. Miss you and love you Chism!
Betsy, Julie, & Danny,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. You will cherish your memories of the time you had with Bryan. Just like he cherished his memories of you.
He grew up to be a fine young man, that loved his family, friends, and country. He will always be honored in our hearts, as a true hero.
We Love You,
Susan, Richard, Toni, Danielle, Jacob, Tyler Spell & Jamie Bourgeois
Our hearts and prayers go out to your family at this time and in the days ahead. Johnathan is truly an American Hero who will never be forgotten. From the family of
Sgt. Paul Heltzel KIA 3/15/05 Louisiana National Guard.
Chism you are a hero here in America. Let god bless you for that. And Let god help your family threw the pain and sorrow.
I did not know your son but I appreciate the sacrifice he has made for our freedom. He is truley a hero. May his memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.
May God blanket you in His love with peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Our deepest Sympathy,
May God be with your family at this difficult time.
Bryan was a true hero to America. He died fighting for his country, and the courage he had is incomparable to most of us Americans. His bravery and honor will never be forgotten.
He was a joy to know the few times I had met him. Always making people smile. That's a type of personality that seems hard to find in other people.
Mrs. Chism, I am praying for you and your family. Also to Bryan's friends- you are in my prayers. I can't imagine what you are going through.
Bryan will forever be an angel in Heaven, watching over us, but personally, he is my hero. I thank him for his service to his country, because without men and women like him, we would not enjoy the freedoms we take for granted every day. May Chism Rest In Peace and watch over us, and especially watch over the other men and women fighting for the United States.
THANK YOU BRYAN FOR YOUR BRAVERY AND EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE FOR US!!! WE WILL MISS YOU!!!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
May your family find peace and comfort, in God's Promises. It's sad whenever we hear of a fallen solider. I myself have a nephew that was deployed to Iraq in October 2006. I constantly pray and ask God to keep his loving arms of protection around all of our soliders. God will be, and do all he said he would. Go to God for your peace and understanding.
I didn't know you for very long, but in the time that I did, I have grown to know that you were a wonderful person inside and out. You were there when I needed you and gave advise on things that others did not understand and I will always cherish our conversations that we had together. To the family, you did a wonderful job raising a fine young man. Im sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to you and your family.
My sympathies go out to the Chism Family. Just know that God is with you in your time of sorrow. Your son is and always be a hero to us all.
My family and I would like to extend our sincere condolences for the loss of your son, Johnathan. We appreciate his service to our country and will always be grateful for his sacrifice. We ask that God lift you up and give you the strength to carry on each day.
God bless you,
Dear Betsy and family,
When Bryan left Galvez Primary after 4th grade, he moved onward and upward into a life that I was unaware of. So to me, Bryan has always been and always will be that quiet (at least in the library!), cute little fellow with the big goofy grin.
Betsy, my heart aches for you. Please know my prayers go out to you and your family.

BEING THE PARENT OF A SOLDIER WHO RECENTLY RETURNED FRON IRAQ.SGT SHAUN WILKINSON,WE WISH TO GIVE OUR REGRETS AND WELL WISHES.HEROS NEVER DIE,THEY JUST WAIT TO SEE US ANOTHER DAY.YOUR SON WAS A HERO.
To the Chism Family
Your son is a true hero. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. To loose someone so young and full of life is terrible. I recently lost my nephew. Lean on family and friends. I didn't know your son but I do know the pain you are feeling and I will pray for you and your family. Just know that he is a true hero as my nephew is also.
Danny & Betsy,
It's been a long time since the Pruitt, Mike and Danny days. When I saw the news I wondered if it was your son. I am so sorry it is. I know you are proud of your son and daughter. I hope you find a way to keep your daughter home. You have sacrificed enough.
To The Chism Family,
Your son will always be a hero to,
me.Hero's never die,they live on,
in all of us. Rest In Pease
Danny & Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your son, Johnathan. May God bless him for his sacrifice for our country. "Greater love hath no man than this". I pray that the Lord will wrap his arms around you and comfort you at this saddest of times. It was very evident how much you loved your son from the interview that we saw last night. You will be in our thoughts and our prayers.
To the Chism Family,
It's wonderful to see how many friends and families appreciate what Johnathan has done for our country! I, too, did not know him but wanted you to know my appreciation. Also, many thanks to his sister. My prayers are with you all.
Just as we were having fun,I looked up and saw the setting sun,
Another sure sign,my heart was beating fast
Then the truth hit me,the time had come at last
It's been so short,I can't believe we have to part.
The time we spent was short, but your presence was ever felt,
Your smile each day was enough to make the loneliness melt,
You showed me you cared in your own special way.
Even though I never got to show you how much I loved you,
One thing I guarantee you is that I'll miss you so
The fact that you are going makes me low,
I hope this poem will make you remember me and I can assure you that in my heart you'll always be..
Goodbye my friend
We did not know your son but we appreciate everything that he did to keep America safe for everyone. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL THEIR TROOPS ESPECIALLY OUR LOCAL ASCENSION PARISH MEN AND WOMEN.
What can I saw? If you knew Bryan then you knew how much he met to every one. I love him and will always love him. He was pretty much my world and I couldn't wait until he came home.
Chism was a very good friend of mine. I hadn't seen him or spoken to him recently, but I do know that he was a good-hearted person and he died a noble death. To Johnathan's mom: I can't imagine the loss of a child. I watched my parents deal with it when my older brother passed away. To Johnathan's sister: I know how difficult it is to deal with the loss of a brother. If you need to talk about it, I will be more than glad to do anything I can to help you through this.
It is a time for mourning but it is also a time to celebrate the life of an amazing person who died so we could all have one more day of freedom.
He will be greatly missed.
I will keep you all in my prayers.
We wish to express our sympathy to the Chism Family for the loss of a son. We respect and honor an American warrior, Specialist Johnathan Bryan Chism, United States Army, for his sacrifice. Another great warrior, General Douglas MacArthur said, “Duty, Honor, Country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.” Specialist Chism’s life is a testament of these three words, Duty, Honor, and Country. We are forever grateful to him, a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
To the family of SPC Chism
While I didn't know your son personally, I know that the pain you all are suffering at this time is unimagineable. My prayers are with you and Johnathan.
LTC Preston De Jean

So sorry for your loss. May God bless you. Thanks, Johnathan for being our "HERO".
MAY GOD BE WITH EVERYONE IN THIS FAMILY. I DID NOT KNOW YOUR SON BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ HE WAS A VERY BRAVE SOLIDER AND WANTED TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY TO MAKE US SAFE. MY SON SERVED 8 YEARS WITH THE ARMY AND JUST RECIEVED HIS DISCHARGE THIS PAST SEPTEMBER. I WAS SO AFRAID FOR HIS SAFETY BUT HE KNEW HE HAD A JOB TO DO. THESE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN ARE SO DEVOTED TO EACH OTHER. I'M SURE THAT BRYAN WAS ONE OF THOSE SOLIDERS. HE IS ON MY LIST OF HERO'S AND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. MAY GOD BLESS EACH. PEGGY SMITH

Dear Danny & Chism Family, Though it has been many years since I last saw you, when I saw Bryan's picture, I knew he had to be your son. May the memories of past good times with Bryan sustain you and your family through this time of grief. Thank God there are still young people like your son and daughter who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Your son is a hero who gave his life for his country. May God give you comfort in this terrible loss.
Danny, when I saw Johnathan Bryan Chism picture on the news the other night I knew he had to be your son, he looked just like you did at Pride High School. It's very hard at times like these to come up with the right words but I want you to know how proud I am that we have young men and women like your children in our country. You and the rest of your family are in my prayers. God Bless your children and the USA.
To The Chism Family:
You are all in our hearts and prayers. We too have a 22 year old son in the military (Marines). Our son graduated 2003 from Dutchtown and our sons crossed paths a few times during their active high school years.
We are blessed to have raised such heroic young men. Thank You.
As we offer prayers for your family in this time of sorrow, we will also offer prayers of thankfulness for the work and sacrifice of your loved one, Johnathan. God Bless your family, may you find joy in your memories of him, and peace and comfort in knowing that there are many military families keeping you in our hearts.

I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your son. He was one of my best friends and I knew if I ever needed someone to talk to he was there for me. While I have never met your family or son, I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy for the loss of your brave soldier. Thanks for letting him protect our freedom. May he rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family on your loss. Thank you for giving your son to fight for our freedom and our country. My God Bless Johnathan and may he forever be remembered as a hero. The Mother's heart in me grieves with you.
My sincere sympathy goes out to you and your family on your loss. Thank you for giving your son to fight for our freedom and our country. My God Bless Bryan and may he forever be remembered as a hero. The Mother's heart in me grieves with you.
What a tremendous sacrifice Johnathan and his family has made on behalf of everyone in the free world. I didn't know him, but am proud of his service and grateful for his bravery.
God keep you close in this time of need. I pray for you. A fellow soldier.
My heart goes out to all of the Chism family at this most difficult time. Bryan was an amazing person who always had a smile on his face. I still can't believe that Bryan is actually gone, but when I think about it, it's kind of heart warming to know that he left us as a brave, strong, hero. Not everyone gets to leave as a hero, but Bryan did. He was special while he was here on earth, and now that he's gone, he's even more special. Whenever someone mentions his name now, we'll all still think of how funny he was, and how spontaneous and crazy he was, but we'll know that he was a HERO. And that's simply amazing.
To Bryan's parents- you should be so proud of the young man you raised. You couldn't have done a better job. Thank you for bringing such an amazing person into this world. I feel so blessed for having the opportunity to have known him.
On behalf of "Gold Star Siblings," please accept our heartfelt condolences.
DEAR CHISM FAMILY,
EVEN THOUGH, WE THE BERTEAU FAMILY, DIDN'T HAVE THE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET YOUR SON IN PERSON, WE HAVE HEARD WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT HIM THROUGH MUTUAL FRIENDS.WE WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOUR FAMILY THE BEST DURING THIS HARD TIME. HE WAS, AND STILL IS A TRUE HERO.HE WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE HEARTS OF US AMERICANS.WE THANK HIM FOR WHAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED. AGAIN, ON BEHALF OF THE BERTEAU FAMILY, WE ARE TRULEY SORRY.
Although we didn't know Spc Chism, being a military family, we are also saddened by your loss, as the military is a family within itself. Your family is in our thoughts.
Dear Chism Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. My family's thoughts and prayrs are with you and for Bryan, a fellow soldier. God bless.

R.I.P. Spc. Jonathan Bryan Chism
You are in our thoughts and prayers.
To the Chism Family,
I just wanted to say how sorry I am for the heartbreaking loss of your son and brother Bryan. Julie, I remember you stopping by a couple of times to say hi to Casey years ago before any of you joined the military.
Both of my sons knew Bryan as a great kid and someone who would help anyone in need. May your cherished memories of Bryan sustain you and carry your family through this difficult time. Rest in peace, Bryan.
To the Chism Family,
I am truly sorry for your loss and my prayer are with you. I know this is going to be a hard time for you and your family and if there is anything you need please ask. God had given you a very special person and gave him the biggest heart he could of given anyone. Bryan is going to be missed by everyone who knew him.
I am going to miss you very much. I still cannot believe that you will no longer be on the earth with us, but in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. I know you are watching down on all of your friends and family. You will always be missed but never forgotten.
To the Family of Spc. Johnathan B. Chism:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I wish I could properly express the amount of sadness my husband and I feel for your family. Chism was a wonderful man and we are very proud of his service to the world. He stood up for freedom - something we all take for granted until a tragedy like this occurs. Bryan died bravely as a TRUE HERO, please always remember that.
My husband had been great friends with Chism during high school. They had lost touch for a while after we had married, he enlisted in the Air Force and we moved to South Carolina. I know they had reconnected recently. He is deeply saddened by the death of his good friend. Please know that he sends his sincerest condolences from his deployed location in Iraq.
Chism is now protecting Heaven and is an Angel watching over each one of us. I hope and pray you all make it through this. I am very sorry for your loss.

I am deeply sorry to learn of the loss of this Fine Young Soldier, Spc. Johnathan B. Chism, who has given his life for our Country and for Freedom.
May Johnathan, rest safely in God's Care and know that he is a True American hero, that shall Never Be Forgotten.
May the Peace of the Lord be with the Chism family.
There will never be enough ways, to humbly thank these Heroes, for their Supreme Sacrifice, my brother among them. KIA-Vietnam 1967.
"And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes,
there shall be no more death,
nor sorrow, nor crying,
there shall be no more pain.
For the former things have have passed away."
May you find peace in knowing the love and memories you have, will remain in your heart forever and that this Country will not forget Johnathan's sacrifice.
You are in my prayers.
So much pain in all of this. Although I did not know this fallen hero, as the mother of a son (my only child) who has recently enlisted in the Army, please know that I grieve with you and that you will be in my prayers.
