For Johnny...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

I am still being blessed by the postings here so much that I had to let you know how Johnny's book "I DID IT HIS WAY" compiled by his wife Bobby and daughter Perri literally fell into my hands going into my local Christian bookstore at the time of the former B.C. Open at Enjoie. Thank you for the many blessings I received and am continuing to receive. God continue to bless Johnny's family and friends.
November 09, 2009
An absolute original. I STILL love B.C. and The Wizard of Id to this day. His work was funny and witty at the same time. Always made you think and we can never have too much of that.

My deepest sorrow for the Hart family's loss of their husband/father/grand-father/friend.
We who grew up with Johnny Hart's humor will carry it with us forever. He graces our tables, our shelves, our wall and our hearts. What a wonderful gift he had and it is comforting to know his Grandson will carry on the family tradition with the help of Mr Hart's family. Thank you for being a part of our family's conversations and memories. I just know one day I will look up and there will be clouds formed in the shape of BC, thor, and the gang running across the sky and we will know who was still saying hello. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to you all.
January 04, 2008
Mr Hart, I know you're reading this entry from the great beyond, so I will keep this light. When I was young, I spent many an afternoon reading your books and comics, over and over and over again. When I grew up, and moved out, I guess my parents got rid of all those books, but witht he help of your daughter Perri through e-mails a few years ago, I completed my collection, up to and including the latest. I have a copy of every B.C book made, and am working on my Wizard of Id collection.
I am proud, at 48 years old, to have this collection, because it reminds me of my youth. It reminds me of how much entertainment you have supplied me, and many other americans.
I also want to thank Perri for doing something that I never ever expected. I have on my wall, a framed drawing by You, Johnny, of the B.C. gang, signed by you to me, personalized. It is my Renoir, my Picasso, my Monet.
Thanks for the laughs, and the memories. My love to the family, Having lost my dad in 2003, who was my hero, I know how hard it has been.

I thank you, Johnny Hart, for inspiring me as a young kid to draw cartoons! I love the sense of humor and irreverence you brought to B.C., as well as your understated line technique. What a marvel!

I treasure the letters you wrote to me when I asked to be your "pen pal". Thanks for a lifetime of laughter.

I saved Mr. Hart's well known Easter cartoon and have been inspired by it ever since; he was a culturally savvy evangelist, in a class by himself. I am sure the same is true in his role as husband and father. May God bless his family with peace during this time.
April 21, 2007
heaven is brighter and the laughter you gave to us will remain in our hearts. Blessings to your family in their great loss
April 20, 2007
Johnny Hart and his comic strip B.C. always brought me memories of my godfather, Peter Reuter. I met Johnny Hart after the passing of my godfather in 1973 and my family always considered his strip a personal favorite. My condolences to his family.
April 20, 2007
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
April 17, 2007
Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Our world is a lesser place without him in it

I first met Johnny when he came to Findlay, Ohio while he was working on a Marathon Oil commercials which featured the BC gang. The Marathon BC animation films were two 30 second commercials titled "Christmas Candles". Johnny was under the impression that the Cels were Marathon's property and gave all the Cels to Marathon. I purchased these Cels from Marathon Oil in 1974 and have been selling them on eBay since 1999. I have always admired Johnny for his religious convictions.
April 16, 2007
Johnny,
Thanks for the memories. I'll never forget the times we spent playing tennis or just hanging out at the studio. I never thought that my sunday school teacher would become such a good friend. I miss the times spent fishing in the lake (from the party barge) and I miss having you as my teacher. You taught me a so much about the bible and God's word and these are things that I will never forget. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the 'Armor of God' lesson. Thank you again for everything.
Bobby, Patti, Perri, Mason, Nick; my condolences for your loss. He will never be forgotten.
April 16, 2007
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hart one friday night at peries art studio. Perri said dad this is the artest that is moveing down the hall from me. My wife explaind to him that she had lost over 42 paintings in the june flood. I had looked at mr. hart and he said time to change the subject he was starting to cry. I will never forget this night he was a great man and will allways have a place in my heart.

What a privelege and pleasure it was to have Johnnie for a neighbor. We were all lucky to have such a generous, talented, community minded fellow to be part of ours. Thankyou Johnnie for sharing your gifts with all of us. You will be missed!
April 14, 2007
Johnny was a wonderful giving person who touched many in the world especially this Oylmpic team Bobsledder who loved how he lived through his art! I'll always remember him! BC GOES BOB! God speed.
April 14, 2007
I grew up reading BC and Wizard of Id, probably before I even knew what they meant, and I've cut out many strips over the years. Thank you for your bold witness in a dark world. Well done, good and faithful servant.
April 13, 2007
You have touched the lives of many people. Thank you for all the happiness you have brought us. You will be greatly missed.

April 13, 2007
I have read this mans comics for about a year now i wake upevery sunday morning and wait for my dad tobring the news the first thing i do is flip to the last page of the comics and read B.C it makes me sad to know that this man has died.
April 13, 2007
Mr Harts BC comics were always a inspiration to me as a Chrisitan, His Christian themes always were a blessing, He will be truly missed,
April 13, 2007
A very fond memory of my mother's refrigerator were the BC comics she would cut out and post there. My mother worked with Johnny at GE. I still have the card that he made her when she left. It was a stork delivering baby ME to her front doorstep - in May - in the snow.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Kathleen Terry Adler
April 13, 2007
I met johnny hart when a friend of my was washing his windows he was very nice man and will be miss.
April 13, 2007
I am stunned, my sympathy to the family. BC has long been one of the only "safe" strips for me. I knew I would find humor in an honest moral context without appeal to the lesser human traits. 'Oh ye of little proof' remains a family catch phrase, I can still see the frame with the tablet pulled from the sea...
April 13, 2007
To the family of Mr. Hart I am praying for you, that God will give you comfort during this time and in the future. I have been a fan of both cartoons and will miss knowing Mr. Hart is not drawing them again. God bless you and we will miss Mr. Hart.
April 13, 2007
I've always enjoyed the B.C. strips. That Mr. Hart had the guts to put the references to his faith in them and not back down was a welcome breath of faith. Eternal rest unto him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen
April 13, 2007
Johnny Hart rest in peace.

I am a Native "BC" Resident whom has been lucky to have traveled around this beautiful country of OURS; with each new adventure, I knew that Every Sunday when My Family got the Paper, we always went to EDUCATIONAL Section first, ( the comics) and we read B.C. First.
The B>C Open always brought the crowds in and the Players. Every native knows that it Rains during the Open.( Atleast the 1st day.) For those that remember the Good Days in B.C> 70's,80's & 90's.
IBM, Country club,PMP Deli ( Both Sites) know that this Native of B.C> is Coming Home Soon. Hope to see Everybody soon.
Thanks Johnny for always giving me Guidance threw your Comics. B.C. & The Wizard of ID. It was pleasure meeting you back in the day. You are treasure to Our State. You will be missed Deeply.
April 13, 2007
My deepest simpathy to the Hart family, his humor was a positive influence on myself and I'm sure other readers of B.C....
April 13, 2007
I've read your cartoon's forever and enjoyed them all. It's nice to have a local celebrity of your stature.I'm sure your legacy will live on. Thank you to the family for this. It must be hard to step up right now , maybe it's the best medicine. Ive lost both my parent's and I know it won't be easy for awhile, but in time your lives will come back to you with the help of the lord. With Johnny in heaven,I'm sure he'll bring a smile to everyone that knew him and probably to them that didn't know him.I pray for the whole family.Johnny's spirit will be with you forever.Keep your chin up.
April 13, 2007
I will truly miss John as will all the Golfing Community and his readers. John was always a pleasure to talk with and listen to his wisdom and experiences.
April 12, 2007
My prayers and sympathy are with Johnny Hart's family. BC has been one of my favorite comic strips ever since my Chemistry professor at Gordon College introduced us -- his class -- to it over 30 years ago at the beginning of each lesson he taught. I admired Johnny Hart for his wit and his faith in Jesus Christ which rang clear and true throughout the BC comic strip. He will be missed by those he left behind, but now because he believed Jesus' message, he is in Heaven with the Lord he loves.
April 12, 2007
My condolences to the Hart family, we have truly lost a great artist and human being, I have enjoyed Johnny's B.C. comic strips most of my life. I know he worked with my father when they came up with the logo for the Broome Duster's Hockey team. I admired his Christian strength and continued use of his celebrity to share his views with so many people. He will be sorely missed by so very many people all over the world.
April 12, 2007
Will miss a truly talented individual. Johnny and I shared the same birthday, as well as our fondness for the game of golf. He will be missed by all.
April 12, 2007
We often buy a paper just to see Johnny's BC; it helped our grandson get a laugh when he was in Iraq this past year; always asked for BC to be sent to him.

We extend our heartful sympathy to the Heart Family; may it comfort you he is in god's hands.

I met Johnny on a plane from Boston to Syracuse, New York as a ten-year-old kid. He sat next to me and signed my coloring book and encouraged me to keep drawing everyday. I am thankful for having met such a wonderful true Christian, whose comics always said what a lot of us Christians were feeling. I will miss seeing his comics. God bless the Hart family
April 12, 2007
God bless your beautiful soul Johnny Hart, you are beloved and always will be - we are indebted to your funny soul for helping us get through tough times, like now , and happy times, reading your funnies and doubling over laughing.
April 12, 2007
In 1969, at age 9, I wrote to Johnny Hart telling him how much I liked B.C. and how I wanted to be a cartoonist like him. He was nice enough to reply with a hand written letter thanking me for my compliments. He also enclosed a 8 1/2" x 11" photo of himself drawing in his studio. Even though I did not become a cartoonist, that had always made an impression on me. Thank you, Johnny Hart.
April 12, 2007
Just a fellow artist who admired Johnny's Talent and Christian Faith. My condolences to the family.
April 12, 2007
I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet Johnny at the Christian Breakfasts. When I asked him to autograph a collection of his religious cartoons, he seemed surprised that anyone was collecting them. He said he had gotten in so much trouble for producing them. I was glad he had the strength to continue to write them. I really looked foward to seeing in what beautiful way he would chose to share his love of Christ with us. God Bless you all.

The little world of upstate New York was opened every year to the giants of cartooning, thanks to the wit, love, and talents of Johnny Hart.He meant so much to so many.I will cherish the memories of hanging out with him and his cohorts during the BC Open week.My heart and condolences to the Hart family and all those he included in his extended family.
April 12, 2007
Thanks for giving us a reason to read the comics! Blessings to the Hart family.
April 12, 2007
May The LORD bless the family with peace and comfort MR. Hart was a large blessing in my wife's and my life, thru his B.C. strip. We always enjoyed the some times [zingers]that he would slip in to be enjoyed by believers.
April 12, 2007
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
April 12, 2007
God Bless you Mr. Hart! You experienced Easter in heaven. What could be more glorious! I applaud your reflection of your Christian faith in your cartoon strips. Ultimately, that is what really matters in our life...whom we serve.

Well done, good and faithful servant! Blessings and comfort to your precious family.

My father went home to Christ almost 3 years ago and it is a comfort to those left on Earth that you know where you earthly father lives...forever! Enjoy eternity, we will meet one day.
April 12, 2007
On February 5, 1973, my husband Peter Gerhard Reuter (Peter) passed away. Johnny and Bobby Hart were the among the first to extend their love and support to myself and Peter's Mother. Through the years, I have spoken of their kindness to many people. In belief and love I pray that Johnny, Peter and Thor are together at peace.
April 12, 2007
With sympathy to the Hart family.Like most locals I have read his cartoon for as long as I can remember.I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hart at the B.C. Open in 2000,though brief,it was both exciting and humbling.I asked Mr. Hart to autograph my entry ticket as he was walking to the club house with a pro.The pro thought i was asking him and took my ticket and signed before i could say anything, i don't follow golf,my freind had an extra ticket and asked me to go.When I saw Mr. Hart, I thought it would be nice to have it autograph by him.I got my ticket back and told the pro ,no offence but i wanted Mr. Harts' autograph.Mr. Hart had a suprised looked on his face and took my ticket and signed it.When he finished, he put his hand on my shoulder, smiled and said "Thank you young man and God bless you." Though I had never meet him before,I had a sense of him being a very kind person.
April 12, 2007
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hart family.

Mr. Hart wrote me a personal letter several years ago when I was contemplating going into the cartooning business. He was honest and encouraging to me. I will forever be grateful to his kindness.

The Lord had blessed him with a wonderful and full life that put smiles on many people throughout the world! I will miss this man whom I never met, but one that I felt a kinship to based on his humor and strong Christain faith. I know that he is putting a big smile on God's face this day!

God bless you during this time of celebration of the life of Johnny Hart!

(I wish I could be there in Ninevah to say these things in person.)
April 12, 2007
All I can say is THANK YOU JOHNNY!
April 12, 2007
My sincere sympathy to the Hart family...what a man and a legacy.......You will be so missed by the multitudes....rest in peace.
April 12, 2007
With greatest empathy, he will be missed. His words of wit and quick of pen kept a smile on our faces. God, receive him well.
April 12, 2007
How can the only two daily cartoons we read help us feel we know a person we've never met so well and miss that person so much? May God grant peace and comfort.

April 11, 2007
Johnny made us smile,
Johnny made us think,
Johnny brightened our lives
and tickled us pink.

Johnny pointed the way,
Mostly in fun,
but most important,
Johnny showed us God's Son.

Thanks, My Good and Godly Brother.
April 11, 2007
Our condolances to Bobby and Family. We just met Johnny a week before his passing. We were at his beloved Church in Nineveh for a spaghetti dinner. Our friends Mary Ann and Dale Robinson introduced us to Johnny after the dinner. He was so warm and welcoming like we had know him all of our lives. He was dancing around and showing off a red hat with a broach on it given to him by a well known celebrity. Little did we know then that this would be our last time together. Johnny had graced our lives so many years through his cartoons. We would read them every day and chuckle providing our laff for the day. John may you rest in the peace of the Lord.

Love;
Connie & Jim Pratt

I never knew you personally, but based on what seems like a lifetime of hearing how wonderful and kind you were, and based on my personal opinion regarding the true, genuine kindness and faithfulness of your peer, Jack Caprio...BEST of friends to my family members Bob&Sal K.....I feel like I knew you. Surely the world knew you and loved you. I am now living in NC, but to me B.C. was a claim to fame for all of us who moved away, and it is obvious now how many people truly loved you and what you did.....not just B.(roome) C.(county)May the lord bless you in your new world and may your family find peace knowing how loved you were around the world.
April 11, 2007
Dear Hart Family:
Johnny's daily drawings were short stories on life. Though I never met him, for 30 years he showed me the humor and irony in our joint experiences. I'm a healthier 67 yr. old man because of Johnny's drawings. Thank you and may God continue to bless each of you and "our Johnny".
April 11, 2007
I loved reading Wizard of Id Johnny was talented in many ways.
May Johnny's memory be eternal.

May the angel of Johnny watch over him and may his family be comforted.

My family moved to Nineveh when I was a one year old child. That was 47 years ago. I was very young when the Harts moved here and did not realize what Mr. Hart did for a living. As I grew older , it was made clear to me who he was , and what a famous person we had living here, with us, in this little town. Funny, I thought. He dosen't seem like a famous person. He stops and shares a kind word , and his wonderfull smile , with everyone he would come in contact with . He seemed to be an average , kind , gentlemen who did not place himself above others . Was he average? No. Was he a kind, caring, giving man who touched the lifes of perhaps millons of people , both young and old , all over the world ? Yes. The people of Nineveh will miss you , Mr. Hart. I already do .I can still see him smiling , as he walks with our Lord , into the Kingdom of Heaven. To his wife Bobby , and his daughters Patti and Perri.... May the Lord hold you all , in the palms of His hands....forever . GOD BLESS YOU .
April 11, 2007
Growing up you became one of my mentors and a terrific reason to pursue Illustration in college. You will missed, GOD bless.

Patti & Family, I was greatly saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I loved the fact tha Johnny Hart was unashamed to share his faith, even when it maight not have been the most popular thing to do. I think of a number of BC strips that I've collected as they illustrate my own beliefs and journey of faith. Also, they were just so funny! What a great combination! What a gift to be able to use cartooning in this way. I thank God for Johnny Hart's example.
April 11, 2007
Thank you for making us smile, and for shining your light on us all.
April 11, 2007
Thanks for Hartley
April 11, 2007
My home when I was growing up was in the 600 block of Jennings Street in West Endicott and just around the corner from the Harts house on the corner of Elm and Grippen. Like so many I headed down to their house for one reason or another and even though it was long ago I can honestly say those were some of the best times of my life and some of the people that were friends of mine back then will surely say the same. After hearing of Mr Hart's passing many memories from those times resurfaced. One in particular was those wild volleyball games that we played during a time when Mrs Hart's sister and Brother-inlaw(Uncle Wiley) and their family were visiting from Georgia. It was hilarious to say the least. Also, unfortunately for me I found out that Mr Hart had a wicked bank shot from outside the box. These are just a few of the many memories that I have and will at occasion think of them fondly at times. To Mrs Hart, Patti and Perri and to the rest of the immediate family I am very sorry for your loss.
April 11, 2007
Those we love are never really lost to us--
we feel them in so many special ways--
through friends they always cared about
and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days...
in words of wisdom we still carry with us
and memories that never will be gone...
Those we love
are never really lost to us--
for everywhere their special love lives on.

May you find comfort in knowing that Johnny touched the lives of so many others and gave them the gift of many happy memories.

The BC Celtic Kazoo Band sends their Sincere Sympathy to the family of Johnny Hart.

God's prophets come in all walks and occupations in life. I truly sensed so many times the Lord's heart and message to this generation communicated through the gift & medium He gave to Johnny. I think Johnny has heard "well done, good and faithfull servant".

May God's grace and peace abide upon and with you, his family, here on earth!
April 11, 2007
Dear Patti, Perri & Mrs. Hart,

I grew up on June Street and spent a couple of years hanging out at your house and have wonderful fun memories. Perri, Patti and I singing along to the Monkees... Mr. Hart & Mrs. Hart were involved with the school PTA with my mother...
Mr. Hart had drawn pictures of me and my siblings at a party at our house, (since lost). The Hart family was my home away from home then and Mr Hart was always nice and then I never appreciated his talents as I came to as an adult... Thank you Hart family for the memories and I am so sorry for your loss, may time heal your heart and strengthen your memories....

I am a long-time reader (orig.from Syracuse)who always wanted to let Mr.Hart know how much I apreciated and enjoyed "BC", especially the thoughtful, sensitive and often Christian message(and rhymes!)he so often did. My prayers are w/you all. So glad the strip will continue.
April 11, 2007
Such a wounderfully delightful read, and such a gentle reminder of our Lord!
II Cor. 5:8-10
April 10, 2007
Johnny Hart was a very generous man who willingly contributed to organizations near his home. His holiday poems in his BC strip will be greatly missed.
April 10, 2007
I have enjoyed and been blessed by Mr. Hart's B.C. comic strip. My sincere sympathy and prayers are with his family. Thank you God for Johnny Hart.
April 10, 2007
My sympathy goes out to the family of Johnny Hart. Hearing him speak at a few of the breakfast's prior to the BC Open, he was truly a man of God.
Thank you for the way in which you witnessed to all of us through your comic strips. You will be missed.
April 10, 2007
John, I'll always remember you,Jack Caprio,Eddie Tucker, Bob Doran and the "South Street Gang". Those were the days!!
April 10, 2007
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My family's thoughts and prayers are with Johnny Hart's wife and family at this sad time. We will miss him tremendously, also.

I started reading Johnny Hart's "B.C." strip as a young teen-ager, growing up in Endicott, many years ago...and, was so thankful that the "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" carried both B.C. and Wizard of Id, moving out to St. Louis 33 years ago to raise my own family, who, in turn, grew to appreciate his talent, also.

I have so many of his strips, cut out through the years, on my refrigerator and hanging up on the walls in my computer room! My all-time favorites are "The Book of Phrases"...so funny and so TRUE!

Yes, there will be a great void in our lives also, once his strips cease to be published...

I was sad to learn of the passing of Mr. Hart because as a Christian, I looked forward to how he shared his faith in a bold and unabashed way. I will miss his humor, written as a Christian unafraid of controversy or criticism.

Through a friend of my father, who still lives in the Binghamton area, I met Mr. Hart for an hour or so in 1974, when I was a teenager and an aspiring cartoonist.
Johnny Hart gave me some helpful advice about drawing with simple lines and solid inked areas.
I'm still an aspiring cartoonist--at 50--but I
have sold a few single-panel joke cartoons to magazines in recent years. (My real job is as a newspaper copy editor.)
I'll always remember that gracious interview in Endicott with the busy, nationally-famed comic strip artist whose work I continue to respect.
Condolences to Mr. Hart's friends and family.
But I know he is with the Lord.
April 10, 2007
To the Hart Family.. please accept my heart felt sympathies
April 10, 2007
I want to let the Hart family know how much Johnny has entertained me for over 40 years. He'll be missed.
April 10, 2007
I've read 'B.C' everyday for as long as I can remember.

I'm very sad.
April 10, 2007
The first book I bought as a child was a copy of his cartoons. His work adorns our BCCPD logo. May he rest in peace.
April 10, 2007
i loved reading b.c. always really funny
April 10, 2007
I will always remember how, when I was a teenager working in the kitchen at King Arthur's restaurant in Endicott, you would come back to visit the "help". You made us laugh with your jokes and good humor. You also made us feel important and appreciated. God Bless your family. May they know that the Lord is laughing at your jokes now as we did so many years ago.
April 10, 2007
I looked forward to Mr. Hart's cartoons each Sunday but especially during the Easter season. I hope we will be seeing his work for years to come.
April 10, 2007
I've known Johnny Hart since I was really little. He brought God in to everything that he did. He was an awesome Sunday School Teacher and I know that all of his past students and recent students miss will always miss him. I know I will. He made us laugh with his funny drawings and jokes.he was a beloved person. I am saddened by his death but I know that he went to a better place which is where he always wanted to go.

STILL REMBEBER THE CARTONS IN OUR STORE WHILE YOU WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND WORKED FOR OUR FAMILY.
April 10, 2007
Having grown up in the T.C. and being an avid Binghamton Press reader the comics were often the first thing we read as children. Thank the Lord for those cartoonists who in an industry that often mocks Christ we were blessed to have Johnny willing to share his faith in a form that often is received favorably especially by children. With many of us natives living far and near it means a lot to us to have been so well represented by Mr Hart. The last few years longing for the wonderful summers in Southern NY and PA it has been so pleasureable to watch the B.C. Open where a fellow classmate has been greens manager. Seeing them walk those greens not far from the Glendale Lab where my now deceased father worked gave me great pride and affection for my hometown taking me back to the simpler, happy days of my youth often spent watching the golfers come in from the greens in the snack shop at the IBM Country Club. May God Bless and keep Johnny's memory alive and hopefully someone similiarly gifted and courageously faithful to the Lord's calling will take up his torch and continue the strip. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and associates as they honor their loved one and friend. Surely heaven is a wonderful place for the rest of us to look forward to knowing Johnny Hart is there probably discussing with those who inspired him what a joy it was in serving God and now seeing his Savior Jesus Christ face to face.
April 10, 2007
B.C and Wizard of Id; two of my favorite comics. If I missed a day in the newspaper, I would get online and find it. It was that important and still will be. Thanks for letting us smile at ourselves. Also it was interesting to watch your faith grow. May God richly bless the family of Mr. Hart's, during this difficult yet peaceful time. All can know where he is and anyone can join him someday if they have that personal relationship with Christ as Mr. Hart so vividly portrayed in his comic strip!! THANK YOU!!
April 10, 2007
Our Lord has called His “Wizard of Humor” home. What rejoicing there must be in Heaven as Johnny brings his grace filled wit to the throne of God. Our prayers remain with his family for this loss.
We also pray that “B.C.” will not now become “B.C.E”.
GOD BLESS

Johnny brought smiles to many. I cherish my autographed copy of an Easter comic strip. His creativity will be missed.

Patti,
Much sympathy to you and your family at the loss of such a great man, what better legacy can you leave than that you made people smile."What we have once enjoyed we can never lose... all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."-Helen Keller
April 10, 2007
Thank you Johny for bringing us some great laughs with your humor and great artistic ability. Also thank you for being so giving.for example all the things that you donated your artwork to,,,broome transit, etc, etc, etc, yours was the only comic that i read.
April 10, 2007
I only recently began reading B.C. but always enjoyed it's sometimes-wry humor. Condolences to all of you.
April 10, 2007
Mr. Hart was a true leader. He lead not by a strong hand and firm grip, but by whimsy and laughter. His charitable acts will remembered for years to come. Thank you, Mr. Hart for everything you did. May the Good Lord Bless and comfort his family during this difficult time.
April 10, 2007
I have raised my children on BC. We and our Priest have had many a laugh about the strip and he said he's got to be Episcopalian because Johnny gave the ant a collar in the strips. He sure has blessed many hearts and I will miss him till I am called Home also. God Bless all of the Hart family. Pat Freiberger
April 10, 2007

I recall when Jimmy and I were in high school at U-E he showed me the first cartoon that Johnny had submitted to Saturday Evening Post. I've been a lifelong fan ever since and have religiously followed his cartoon stories.
April 10, 2007
I woke up to the news of Johnny's death and immediately thought of my own dad who died about 10 years ago. We are very sorry for your loss, and the family is in our prayers.
April 10, 2007
I have read "B.C." since I was a child in the 1950's and always enjoyed the freshness, the wit, and the humanity of the strip. Mr. Hart will be greatly missed by his legion of fans of which I am proud to call myself one. His faith was evident in much of his work, a trait which is all too rare in our modern times. I'd like to think that maybe he's now "across the ocean" where the tablets with the replies always came from. I offer my sincere condolences to his family.
April 10, 2007
I travel quite a bit as part of my job. Where ever I went, BC and the Wizard were my constant touchstones to home. Your humor and your willingness to share your faith will be missed. May God bless you and your family.
April 10, 2007
My parents, Jack and Marie (Roma) Shea, attended U.E. High with Mr. Hart, and my mom had a personalized autographed copy of the first-ever BC compilation book. I used to steal the book from her closet all the time to either read it or to copy the cartoons. Unfortunately, I misplaced the book during one of those transgressions, and never saw it again. The moment we finally realized that it was lost for good was a sad day for both my mother and me. Losing Johnny is sadder still. Thankfully for all of us, he lives on in BC. "Clams got legs!", and so does BC itself; it will live forever!
April 10, 2007
I always look forward to Sunday's paper. The first thing I do is open the funnies to B. C. Mr. Hart will be missed but I'm sure he's in heaven making someone laugh. What a wonderful testimony he had and how grateful I am of his comitment to bring the gospel message in his comics.
April 10, 2007
Bobbie, Patti, Perri, Mason, and Mick,

My prayers are with you. Johnny was such a wonderful, kind, talented man with a wonderful family. It was my pleasure to be able to have met him, and all of you. He will be sadly missed by so many.
April 10, 2007
Thank you for many early morning smiles, you'll be remembered for generations to come.

I remember when Johnny would come into the Commercial Art Supply formally located at 185 Court St. in Binghamton. I was a salesman and he was kind and would be very supportive with his advise to me.
Thank you Johnny.
April 10, 2007
My late father, Joe Daley, treasured his Johnny Hart originals, as we all did. It does not seem so long ago that Johnny was the bright young star of a group of cartoonists such as my Dad who used to gather in Watkins Glen, NY to talk cartooning. He was kind and funny and, when success came, generous to his old friends. My condolences to the Hart family.
April 10, 2007
I ate clams till they came out my ears. That was at a clam bake at
Endwell Greens. Thank you Johnny, for making me a part of B.C.

I set down my pen in a moment of respectful silence for a fellow cartoonist and I rejoice for the gift of salvation for a fellow brother in the Lord! I look forward to meeting Johnny in heaven one day!
April 10, 2007
Unfailing, for the last several years, every morning Mr. Hart’s work brought a smile, chuckle or a guffaw. But hearing about his passing away brought a contrary sentiment - profound sadness.

My heartfelt condolences to Mr. Hart’s family. May his soul rest in peace.
April 10, 2007
Death is simply putting out a candle because morning has come.
Johnny thank you for being a light for God in a dark world. Your loved ones are in our prayers.

To Mr Harts family,
Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. God Bless you all. I will never forget Johnny stopping by Jack and Alta Quigleys after my Grandfather passed, to express his sympathys. I now extend my deepest sympathy to you, the people who mattered most to him, his wonderful family. This World has truly lost one of its brightest shining stars, he will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
God Bless,

I have an Easter BC strip framed and hanging in my office as a reminder of the truth of eternal life in Christ. God's peace and comfort to the Hart household while you wait to see him again.
April 10, 2007
Our home is filled with Johnny's BC memorabilia[BC Open poster, BC Pro Am plaques[Ken Still & David Peoples] and my latest, the Caddy Doll with autographed"1991 BC Open Pro Am to John and Shirley from David Peoples" I took the printout from the internet to Don Scrip, we're both from East Maine Rd, and Don reminded me when his ex Carolyn O'Connell was Johnny's dental hygienist and Dr Finklestein reserved the day for only Johnny.
Anthony Wiles, David People's caddy, told me at the Players Championship that Johnny along with Alex Alexander were the caddy's best friends. Perhaps donating to the PTCA for their retirement and receiving a caddy doll would be a great remembrance of what Johnny loved to do, make people happy. Rest in peace Johnny.
April 10, 2007
Thank you Johnny for professing your love of Jesus in your comic strips. I have framed the special
drawings on the back of napkins you
gave me at one of our class reunions. The BC comic strip is the only one I read and have saved many of them. My prayers and love go to your family. You are now home with Our Father in heaven.

Dear Johnny, I'll miss the times we spent together sketching bits on paper and talking art at your beautiful studio. You always treated me with goodness and kindness, and I'll miss you. Your old pal, -NATE GIORGIO

What an incredible loss. I will treasure the picture you gave to Tim and I. Such a gifted man. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Johnny Hart:noun:Humorist, cartoonist, philosopher, and most of all, Preacher. May God smile upon your family. May we all remember the smiles you gave to all of your fans.
April 10, 2007
As one of B.C's clams would shout
it...."Hart's got Heaven!"
April 10, 2007
I was born in Endicott and lived in the area (Glen Aubrey and Owego and across the border in PA) for many years. I have grown up reading BC and Wizard of ID. Also, being a Christian, I appreciated his standing up for his faith and political opinions through his cartoon strip. I also enjoyed the article done on him a few years ago in Guideposts Magazine. I still have a copy of it.

God Bless his family and comfort them in their loss.
April 10, 2007
My sincere prayers and thoughts are with the Hart family. During my 38+ years at General Electric I had the privilege of meeting many creative and talented people I am proud to have known. Among these were Johnny "BC" Hart, "Peter" Reuters, and Thornton "Thor" Kinney. They are all gone from us now but they will live on in these characters for children and adults alike in generations to come. The times spent with them brought many laughs and happy moments. Remember the good times, and God Bless.
April 09, 2007
B.C. followed me all over the world when I was very young, seemed like it could put a smile on your face no matter what. We will miss him. God Bless.
April 09, 2007
What a loss for us! My mom and her friend, Barb and Beverly, were the first inspirations for the "Fat Broad". They were so proud to know johnny. Later in their lives, it meant so much to them (&us) That Johnny Loved God. Bless your family at this time.
April 09, 2007
Thanks for all the quiet things you've done to help this community and local charities. Also, thanks for making us all take a look at ourselves in a unique and humorous way.
Johnny, you've touched so many lives in so many positive ways! You will be missed ... until we meet again.
April 09, 2007
A 1996 BC strip led me to a new faith in Jesus Christ after a long period of atheism. Of course it was God who touched me, but He used Johnny Hart's cartoon to get through to me. My condolences to Johnny's family. You can be assured that he is now with Jesus, in Whom his faith was so evident in his cartoons.
April 09, 2007
My warmest wishes to the Hart family. I grew up with B.C. comic strips (being my favorite because my initials at the time were B.C. and as a kid I thought that was real cool!) Mr. Hart will be sorely missed!
April 09, 2007
My heart is heavy as I write. I am a former classmate of Johnny's and a witness to his humor throughout his years in high school. A hastily drawn cartoon depicting a nurse in ICU (me) behind "the rock" has stayed with me through several relocations over the years.
The selection of a local newspaper in our new town has always been based on whether or not it carried B.C. It was my link to "home". He will surely be missed. My sincere condolences to his family and close friends.

Dear Bobby, Patti and Perri,

I was your neighbor in Endicott and babysat for Patti and Perri all through high school. Thank you for all the guidance you gave me. Thank you for the trip to Georgia to visit Sue Baxter and family. So many memories. I have thought of you so often over the years. My prayers are with you. God Bless all of you.

Our prayers are with you all during this sad time. Johnny brought us so much laughter through his cartoons. May God give you His perfect peace.
April 09, 2007
What a beautiful legacy Mr. Hart leaves for his family. I have enjoyed reading BC for many years and especially looked forward to the Christmas and Easter strips where I knew Mr. Hart would so eloquently share the gospel. I know that Johnny was welcomed into Heaven hearing the words of his Lord Jesus Christ "Well done, Good and Faithful servant!" Mrs. Hart, may you and your family feel the arms of our Savior wrapped around you during this time. God Bless you.
April 09, 2007
I met Johnny a few times while working in radio; the one time I remember the most was while i was working on the WSKG Auction - Johnny had donated several original strips to the auction and was answering phones that evening. He was gracious and non-assuming, talking to the other phone-bank people and showing how quickly he could draw a B.C. character. We have all lost an artist and humorist who helped us laugh at ourselves through his comic art.
April 09, 2007
It was sad to hear of Johnny's homegoing. He will be missed greatly here below, but he can truly rejoice now. I greatly appreciate the B.C. comic strip. It is funny and often times very inspirational. Johnny had a unique ministry. To his family.... my sympathy.
April 09, 2007
Thanks for many years of creating smiles on the faces of your fans. Growing up in Afton New York made Johnny Hart and Brant Parker neighbors so to speak. We enjoyed and the world enjoyed. You will be missed
April 09, 2007
Patti--I am very sorry for your family's loss. I'll never forget meeting your father when he came to Cobleskill to pick you up for break, and how he sent you back with BC tee shirts for everyone on our floor. My condolences.

I have been seeing Mr Harts comics all over the city since I was a little girl. I am glad he did his comics for everyone to enjoy. He died doing what he enjoyed and that is important. My condolances go out to the Hart family this time. May god be with you and give you the strength you need. I wish you all the best.

Dear God
Thank you for allowing us to borrow Johnny Hart for awhile. He used his talent to encourage others and share the good news of Jesus Christ to millions. Please hold his family in your arms as they go through this time of grieving. Bless them and keep them. In Jesus name. Amen

My condolences to the Hart family.I knew John when he was at GE and I was at Hall Printing. He was a good man.
April 09, 2007
Johnny went to UE about the time my mom and aunt were there, and I was in a few classes with Perry. My thoughts are two fold: First I pray for the family as they grieve the loss of their husband, father, etc. Second, I praise God that Johnny is now in the presence of the Lord Jesus. Well done good and faithful servant.
April 09, 2007
Johnny Hart was truly a world wide inspiration. I thank you all for donating a cartoon to auction, to help me defray huge hospital/cancer bills. You are all forever in my heart.
April 09, 2007
One of my all time favorite cartoonists; I especially liked his insight into reality and the spiritual side. It will be a blast in Heaven with a never ending storyboard!
April 09, 2007
OUR COMMUNITY SHARES THE SORROW OF THE HART FAMILY. THEY ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND IN OUR PRAYERS. JOHNNY HART TOUCHED THE HEARTS OF THOUSANDS AND MADE US LAUGH AND HELPED US IN OUR FAITH.
April 09, 2007
His work usually gave me smiles, rather than belly laughs. I liked him salting his work with a little bit of Christianity now and then. He will be missed.
April 09, 2007
May he be remembered as much for his Christian messages in his cartoons as for the humor. He will be missed. Thank you, Mr. Hart.
April 09, 2007
Johnny Hart has moved on to the next paragraph in his life. One that will never end. I look forward to meeting him someday. He was not afraid to express his faith in his cartoons.
April 09, 2007
It was a privaledge and honor to to meet John 26 years ago, as his wit electrified my life much more than my humble hands brought their gift to his studio. He will be sorely missed.
April 09, 2007
During the 60's my grandparents lived across the street from Johnny and his family on Bassett Avenue in Endicott. On one of our visits my brothers and I ran across the street to say hello. He invited us in and drew us a caveman on a "uni-rock" on a 3 by 2 memo pad. I still have it. I am especially proud of the way he would bring the lord into his work, something you don't see anymore. My grandparents had wonderful things to say about him. Part of me died with him on Saturday. I am truly blessed to have had the chance to meet him. Sincere condolences to the Hart family from the Buran family at this most difficult time. We share in your loss. Rob Buran, Milton, Vermont.
April 09, 2007
Dear Johnny,
I was the camera person for a TV interview you did several years ago for a show about the BC Open tournament. The story easily could have been about your hospitality and kindness. You welcomed us into your studio and lovingly told us about the beautiful drawing table one of your children had designed in front of a window facing your pond, then with the glee of a young boy skipping school, you showed us the table you loved to sneak away to, upstairs in a cozy corner. Your wife shared her southern hospitality and some delicious apple pie. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you again face to face and tell you how special that day was. Thanks for a great memory. RIP

Thank you Bobby and family, for sharing a beautiful human being with the community. God Bless you.
April 09, 2007
My family and I lived in Endicott up until 7 years ago when we moved to the West Coast. Attended many B.C. Opens. I want to send my condolences to the Hart family. I remember the comic strip very well. Literally, Johnny died doing what he loved to do. May he rest in peace.
April 09, 2007
I wish I might have known Johnny Hart personally, but my only contact with him was through his cartoon strip "B.C." I corresponded briefly with Mr. Hart's daughter Perri when I successfully decoded one of the names written in the "grass" at the bottom of many of the "B.C." strips, and again when I totally misconstrued his tribute to his friend Brant Parker on the celebration of the latter's 80th birthday. I was embarrassed but Perri and Mrs. Hart forgave me and laughed about it. My sincerest condolences to all Mr. Johnny Hart's family.

I have enjoyed B.C. and Wizard of Id for years - particularly B.C. I appreciated Johnny Hart's clever wit and admired his unapologetic faith.

April 09, 2007
To the family of Johnny Hart my deepest sympathy. BC and Wizard were the first to be read every day to my girls when they were youngsters. You brought a smile and lots of laughter to many. Thanks for it all.

Thoughts and prayers to Family and Friends.
My wife could always depend on me to show her a current cartoon, especially when Christian based.
recently, she packed in her suitcase a copy of " Whose's Your Daddy " to show our Family in Missouri/Kansas.
We bless him for his Christian convictions.
April 09, 2007
How sad to lose this wonderful man, particularly at a time when his wit and wisdom are so desperately needed. I am grateful for having been a B.C. reader. I hope that generations to come will be able to experience the enjoyment and enlightenment that came with each strip.

To the Hart family...thank you so much for sharing him and his talent with so many. His work truly started off many days on the right note. Thank you and God bless!
April 09, 2007
The Presbyterian Layman first informed me of Mr. Hart's commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ though it was always evident in his strips. What a wonderful legacy to leave for his wife, daughters, and grandchildren to have touched so many people's lives. Heaven's angels must have have sung the Hallelujah Chorus even louder on Easter morning. Happy Easter, Johnny.
April 09, 2007
Thank you, Johnny, for the years of courage and humor, and for leaving this treasury for our children to enjoy. May your gentle and firm commitment to the truth continue to impact many in years to come.
April 09, 2007
The August 8 2006 Rev'e lation strip inspired me. Johnny sent me the image about a month ago. I'll never forget. Truly his inspiration with and from the bible in BC was reflected daily. How fitting that we lost this great friend on Easter.
All the best.
April 09, 2007
Condolences to the family of Johnny Hart in their loss. I met Johnny in 2005 at the BC Open and got an autograph which will be treasured. He was so gracious and kind. Truly a gentleman whose presence and talent will be missed.

JOHNNY WAS A FRIEND OF MY HUSBANDS AND i KNOW THEY SPENT TIMES IN PRAYER TOGETHER. jOHNNY WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO DESIGN A LOGO FOR A 10 WEEK TENT REVIVAL IN THE LATE 90'S ( ALL ABOUT JESUS TENT REVIVAL). HIS LIFE WAS AN AWESOME TESTIMONY TO HIS FAITH AND LOVE FOR THE LORD AMEN

To Mr Harts family, please accept my condolences for the loss of this wonderful person. I absolutly cherished his work, and with the advent of the internet, never missed a BC or Wizard of Id.

To Mr Hart, Thank you for all the wonderful laughs. As a school boy back in the sixties, reading the BC paperback collections was a great way to spend a hot Texas summer day indoors. I'll miss your comic insight.
April 09, 2007

April 09, 2007
We so appreciated Mr. Hart's boldness in sharing his faith in Jesus Christ through his strip especially on Easter and Christmas. He was kind enough to allow us to use his strips in the past for Christmas and Easter cards which impacted many people's lives.
April 09, 2007
What great memories i have of this family! Patti, Perri, and Bobby i am so sorry for your loss.
April 09, 2007
I was shocked to hear of the passing of Johnny Hart this morning. What a wonderful child of God he was and now he is with the Savior whom He loved and served so faithfully. I thank him for the work he did to make the BC Open Prayer Breakfast a reality and a blessing to all who attended year after year. He has gone to his reward and will be remembered for a long time to come. Thanks Johnny.
April 09, 2007
My condolences to the family. I didn't know Mr.Hart but I was friends with his grandson Mason many many years ago. I also loved reading B.C.
April 09, 2007
My deepest sympathy. As a former GE employee and Triple Cities resident, I was proud to brag that Johnny Hart and Rod Serling were two greats from my area. I look first for that BC strip in my current paper and it brings comfort of "home". I always say I didn't work with Johnny at GE, but I did work with his "Flo" character. Thank you for so much over so many years. It will be missed.
April 09, 2007
My condolences and deepest sympathy to Johnny's family. I loved his comic strip. It was great how he was able to give the Christian message through it. I never met him but I'm going to miss him. With love and prayers,

Dear Perri,
I am so sorry for your loss. What a blessing for you to know that your Dad inspired so many people across the world. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love and Prayers, Debbie
April 09, 2007
May God be with Johnny Hart's family. His humor and witness will be remembered. He is now alive with his Lord. I bowled with his sister, Sue, in Endicott and I know she will miss him too.
April 09, 2007
Yesterday at our Easter family gathering we got out the Marathon "BC" glasses given to me by the Harts and I pulled from the wall our cherished original BC panel and passed it around. All laughed and smiled at me as if they knew Johnny but that knowledge was only what I shared with them over the years. In many ways Johnny and Bobby kept the "West Endicott" kids off the streets. Loaning us 8MM cameras, editing equipment and a little "home theater" to watch our movie creations in, we always had something else to keep us busy. Many of the group ended up self employed and very creative....Johnny gets a lot of credit for that. Mrs. Hart, Patti and Perri...thanks for sharing Johnny with me and the rest of us! God bless you. Whitey
April 09, 2007
May God be with Johnny Hart's family. His humor and witness will be remembered. He is now alive with his Lord. I bowled with his sister, Sue, in Endicott and I know she will miss him too. Our prayers are with you.
April 09, 2007
You've brought so many smiles to the world, thank you for my part. Mrs. Hart, Patti & Peri, I was always in awe of Mr. Harts talents outside of B.C. and the Wizard, his ability as a serious artist. I remember his kindness and thoughtfulness and his quirky sense of humor. I considered it an honor also meet the actual B.C. characters [short of the late Mr. Peter Rueter, forgive me if I mispelled his name], Uncle Wiley, Mr. "Clumsy Carp" Caprio, and the closest to my heart, Dear Grog, who was able to ice skate circles around me. It is heart warming to remember a family and their circle of friends who gave so much to the world and each other.
When I heard the announcement on NPR of Mr. Harts passing, it set off of chain of warm memories that I am glad to have shared. He will be missed and remembered by so many.
Thank you for sharing a little of your vast talent with us all. My condolences to Mrs. Hart, Patti and Peri.
April 09, 2007
If I had a clam every time you made me laugh... You will be missed.
April 09, 2007

April 09, 2007

April 09, 2007
Having grown up in the Triple Cities area, I have always enjoyed his humor and faith in his strip. I marshalled for The BC Open for 5 years and enjoyed his camaradrie with the fans and his fellow cartoonists. That was very special. My deepest condolences to the family for their loss as well as our loss as his fans.
April 09, 2007
What a sad day for our community. He will be missed!
April 09, 2007
Johnny Hart signed many autographs for me at the BC Open. He was simply the greatest representative that a golf tournament could have. He will be missed but not forgotten. He was the best!
April 09, 2007
Johnny, you went on to our Lord doing the very thing you were created to do. Inspiring on so many levels....

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

April 09, 2007
We extend our sympathy to Johnny Hart's family. How fitting it was that the God he honored took him "home" in this holy season. His cartoons were such a pleasure to read always, and his Christmas and Easter strips were true inspiration.
April 09, 2007
My condolences to the Hart family. I went to UE and as I have moved around the country, I could always read BC for a touch of Endicott. Even in college at UCI, there was the anteater saying "Zot!" (All my CA friends were so impressed that I came from the same town as Johnny Hart!)

God bless you all
April 09, 2007
Mr. Hart was an incredibly talented and decent man.

May God grant his family and friends comfort in this trying time.
April 09, 2007
Condolences to the Hart Family. My prayers are with you. I went to UE and Cobleskill with Patti. I have always enjoyed Mr. Hart's comic strips. He will be missed.
April 09, 2007
To Patti & the Hart Family, Our deepest sympathy for your loss. It was with great pride & honor we shared in the 50TH anniversary celebration for Bobby & Johnny. Johnny's playful challenge for us to locate a very special song for them to be played at the party, via a few 'specially worded clues", was endearing & memorable to us!
In parting we say "Nighty-Night" Johnny. Donna & Frank Borrelli
April 09, 2007
I always looked forward to seeing what what creative twist Johnny would have B.C. pull off on Christmas and Easter to present the message of the seasons. The ants in the "skool" doing math this Easter was classic, and a triumphant obituary statement clearly displaying the hand of God. Truly "Amen plus".
April 09, 2007
My wife and I were fortunate to have met Johnny and his wife many years ago thru mutual friends.
Although we seldom had contact with them as the years passed, we always felt a sense of pride in knowing such a talented and fine Christian person.
One of his inspiring God-loving
strips hangs in a place of honor in our home.
We thank the Bolands, Caprios, and Davises for introducing us to one of the great cartoonists of our era!
My God bless his family and friends.
April 09, 2007
Johnny, I thank you for your Christian stance in the world we live in today. May God continue to bless your family abundently. It is truely Amazing Grace That saves us all, if we but just repent of our sins, and ask Jesus into our hearts.
April 09, 2007

April 09, 2007
Thanks Johnny, for all the years of proclaiming Jesus Christ in many, many of your comics all across the world. To you Bobby, we will pray for you & your family. April 09, 2007
May God Bless his precious heart and soul and his family
April 09, 2007
Johnny, your faith was obviously central to who you were. I always appreciated your boldness in sharing your faith through your comic strip. In a world of watered down convictions, your willingness to be up front and unappologetic was refreshing.
April 09, 2007
While reading the Easter Sunday "B.C." comic strip I commented to my husband how much I enjoy Johnny Hart's humor. He praised and worshiped our Lord through his comic strips. God is well pleased with Johnny and called him home. Thank you Johnny for giving me a lifetime of laughter and praise.
April 09, 2007
We mourn our loss at Mr Hart leaving us to go be with our Lord. He was truly one of a kind. We grieve for you, his family. BC was such an original. One of our favorites. Yesterday was another classic strip.

Thanks for sharing your gift of humor and guiding faith. Your work is especially appreciated by our soldier and his unit while serving in the Army overseas. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
April 09, 2007
I grew up in Johnson City and lived all over the country. Through the years, reading B.C. would always give me a sense of connecting to home no matter where I was. I read in the paper that Johnny was "born again" and for that I truly rejoice!
May he rest in the arms of Jesus and hear the words, "well done, good and faithful servant"
April 09, 2007
Johnny, Thanks for all the laughter.I will be looking towards your comics when I reach the other side!

April 09, 2007
As an employee of the Broome County Child Abuse Council/Family Violence Prevention Council I would like to express my appreciation to Mr. Hart for allowing his BC cartoon to become a part of our community education campaign against child abuse.

As a fellow Christian, I am proud of the way in which Mr. Hart expressed his faith in Jesus through his comic strip and did not waiver in the face of anti-Christian sentiment.
April 09, 2007
Johnny,

Our Prayers go out to Bobby and the family. The world will miss you, but Heaven is Blessed. Thanks for your efforts for the CTK Chocolate Festival. Your sketches will be cherished forever. God Bless,

April 09, 2007

It's always a pleasure to read a Johnny Hart cartoon.
April 09, 2007
Having grown up in Endicott NY, I was always proud of Johnny Hart and the enormous impact he had on the triples cities, and the rest of the United States. He was a true gentleman and I had the chance to meet him at the 1974 BC open when I was 12 years old. He not only gave me an autograph, but drew GROG for me, which to this day, I still have! To the Hart family, My deepest Condolences to you and your loss, its our loss as well. RIP Johnny Hart!!

April 09, 2007
I am so sorry for your loss... My dad Claude L Barber talked of being at your place and doing things with Johnny Hart... said he was just plain folk..
April 09, 2007
Thank you for the years of joy and meaning your talent and faith brought to so many.
April 09, 2007
The Easter season is such a fitting time for Mr. Hart to return to the Lord. His strips which brought to mind the sacrifice of Christ helped to focus the attention of both Christians and others through a type of media where overt displays of faith are rare. It is the hope of many people that B.C. will continue to be published by delving into the archives as the work of Charles Schultz has been. Well done Johnny.
April 09, 2007
I have appreciated Johns great mind and humor from the first day I started reading his work. I will miss him as much as his family. God Bless!
April 09, 2007
Johnny Hart was a great American cartoonist. He taught us so much through the life of a caveman.

My condolences to the family of Johnny Hart!
I loved the B.C.comic strips -especially as a young person growing up ,and was influenced by them so -that I tried making one myself called"In The Beginning",and made one strip a day for quite some time!
God bless!
April 08, 2007
First comic I read this Easter morning was BC and oh, what joy it brought to me and my family. Thank you, Mr. Hart for standing up for your faith in a time when it's not politcally correct. I'm sure this Easter Sunday was a sweet experience for you, sitting at the feet of our risen Savior, hearing those treasured words--"Well done, my good and faithful servant."

I will keep the Hart family in my thoughts and prayers in the coming months.
April 08, 2007
You will be missed by thousands. Christmas and Easter will not be the same without Wiley's comments. I have used your clippings in many Sunday School classes. God Bless.
April 08, 2007
I always loved his work because his humor was wry. Looked forward to his clever strips around Christmas and Easter because they made so much sense but were not offensive to other faiths.
April 08, 2007
As a former Endwell, NY resident I have always looked forwrd to John's comics.

April 08, 2007
GOD BLESS JOHNNY AND HIS FAMILY. HIS WORK WILL LIVE ON!
April 08, 2007
I think I learned more from this man than from all my other education and influences combined. I... can't even begin to describe what his passing means... on a personal level, and as a loss to the world. Have a good time up there with Charles, Johnny.
April 08, 2007
I am 45 years-old now, but as a child growing up in Detroit, my brother and I would race to the front door every morning to get the Detroit Free Press to read the comics. The first one we'd read everyday was B.C.
Thanks for the memories Johnny! R.I.P.
April 08, 2007
You made me laugh, you made me cry, you made me think.

April 08, 2007
With an audience of 100 million, my tribute seems small. I have clipped and saved several BC strips. It was often the only one I took time for. I appreciated his boldness in speaking of his faith. My condolences to the family.
April 08, 2007
well, my first thought was what difference would it make for me to sign in. then, in Gods grace lent to me, I said to self, "let his kids and family know he made a difference by being able to make people laugh without having to rely on the gutter we hear today, and give my son hope that we can do all things in Christ. bless Mr Hart for his standards uncompromised. this I write from california, but my webmaster is in niskyuna NY-Phil Adikes is his name, and lives close to Albany-thankyou-vic bello
April 08, 2007
My favorite line from the Wizard of Id...the king is standing in his throne room and someone outside yells, "The peasants are revolting!" and the king says, "You can say that again." I was about 13 years old when I figured that out and I laughed so hard I cried. I always looked forward to Johnny Hart's B.C. Easter strip. Condolences to his family.
April 08, 2007
Our hearts are grieved at the passing of Johnny Hart.

From the manner of his B.C. strip, one could tell Johnny Hart was a Christian.

May the Comfort, Blessings, Healing, and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with the family, friends, and fans of Johnny Hart.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm 46:1 ( King James Bible )
April 08, 2007
Johnny, you have to be my all time
favorite.Not much of anything makes
me laugh, let alone, smile but one
particular strip I saved, just
cracks me up. God love you, Man.

April 08, 2007
