We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Hines Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Keicia M. Hines US Army Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Today I received my KIA bracelet that I will wear in your remembrance. It bears your name boldly and it will allow me to share your story with everyone that will ask, who is SGT Keicia M. Hines? My first reply will always be, she is a hero. Thank you for your service.

Saluting your veteran this Memorial Day.
May 29, 2011
I serve with men and women that are sworn to support and defend our way of life.  Each day, around the world, we don our uniforms and we set out to do just that, not always knowing the outcome.  As you enjoy your Memorial Day festivities, remember that freedom is not free...a sacrifice is made.  Today I remember Army SGT Keicia M. Hines, 27.  She was a daughter, wife and a Soldier that gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving in OIF on Jan 14, 2004, hours after I celebrated the birth of my son.  Her sacrifice and those of many others allow him to dream beyond measure.  SGT Keicia Hines, my sister in arms, you are gone but never forgotten.

Please accept my remembrance of Keicia on the anniversary of her passing and know that she will never be forgotten.

Hi Kecia,
Its been sooooo long. I bet people would never believe you were part of the FFA club in high school. Yes a fellow future farmer of America! Time goes so fast. I have been thinking about you a lot lately but could not figure out the words to write. Still can not. But I just want you to know that we are still thinking of you and to tell your mom she is always in my prayers. Until we meet again, your fellow FFA buddy, Hasina!

Dearest Daughter...Not a day goes by that you are not in my thoughts. I miss you tremendously and find it hard to believe that it has been almost 7 years since God took you home to be with him. Keicia, you are the LOVE of my life and I am proud and honored to be your Mother. I look forward to the day that I can wrap my arms around you again.

To the family and friends of Kecia Hines- I am writing to tell you that tomorrow, May 6 2010, I will be honoring Kecia. At my company we honor a fallen soldier everyday at 2pm. I chose Kecia becuase I was touched by her story. I myself am a 27 year old woman and I am an only child to my mother. I was just blessed with a baby boy this year and have so much to be thankful for. I am humbled by the sacrifice that Kecia made for her country. She will never be forgotten.
God Bless,

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at or go to . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I think of you so often, i still have the pictures you sent of you and your Mother and your wedding picture. I considered you as my daugther and we had a lot of fun together. When you came to work for me here at Fort Lewis, Wa it was a challange. I watched you mature and become a beautiful person as well as a Excellent Soldier. I was waiting to hear from you when I got the news and I still can't speak on the feelings that went through me. I miss you so much I miss the calls from you on the holidays and so many more things. I have come to realize that God needed you more than we did and I know I will see you in Heaven one of these old days. Hines family be Blessed and when times get hard lean on God.

there shall be no more death,
nor sorrow, nor crying,

To the family of this beautiful young woman. I am having a hard time writing this without crying. I know she is in the hands of the Lord. I have two children in the Army and I can only imagine the pain your family felt. I will keep your family in my prayers.

To the family of Sgt. Keicia Hines;
There are no words which can ease the pain in the loss of your loved one. I'm sorry for your loss and that it took so long for me to get around to doing this.
I often recite this at our services: "The clock of life is wind but once, and no man has the power to stop it at a late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love and work with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow, for the clock may then be still".

May God Bless,
Keith D. Oten, Sr.

Dear family of Sgt. Keicia M. Hines. This is my first note of "Thanks" for the service of your daughter, wife and friend.
I just learned about this site so it gives me this wonderful opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to you personally for your great sacrafice. I served in the army in Korea so I have a soft spot for anyone who served. I leave you with this thought..."The world will be different for our daughters and sons because of our tears, our bravery, and our breakthroughs." by Marianne Williamson from her book "A Woman's worth" God Bless your family non-stop! I was shocked when I got the call about your tragic and untimely death. I must say the world lost a great person and I lost a wonderful friend. You held my hand through my tragedy and assured me it will be okay. I wouldn't have made it without you and for this I forever will be grateful.
To your family, I extend my deepest and sincere condolences and pray for God's peace at this time. I understand your grief and I hope the wonderful memories of Keicia will help ease the pain. She will always have a special place with me.
May God Bless us all.
