Want you to know that you and Reeve are in our thoughts and Prayers: God Bless:
The "Sharps" Neal and Mary Lou
Way too soon to go home! I'm grateful to have met him, even for a little while.
I was a friend of Kevin's sister in elementary school and remember him when he was very young. I saw the news article posted online and wanted to express my thoughts and prayers for the family.
I just heard of Mr. Sanders' passing this morning. I'm so sorry for his family and friends. Only 2 weeks ago, I heeded his words of safety and caution during the Chicago flooding. My first memory of him was when he broke the ice our first day of vet tech school with some funny animal youtube videos. I could not stop laughing at his choice of videos. Great sense of humor. He was a very supportive teacher, and really knew his stuff. How unfair to lose such a great person as Mr. Sanders.
Kevin's light shined brightly upon all who were touched by his presence. The loss of his life is a tragedy on earth, but Heaven trumpeted his arrival.
It was my great privilege to have called you a friend. You were always kind, open hearted and willing to forgive. You really touched my life in a very special way. You are, and always will remain, "Superman" to me.
It sadden our hearts to see such young people die. My condolences to the Sanders family. Kevin is now resting in peace. May all find comfort in that thought. Ecclesiastes 9:5 Dave J
We are praying for all the family. Thank you Mr. Kevin Sanders for your courage and for giving the ultimate sacrifice for my family and our community. We will never forget. God bless you and your family. The Sulak Family Chad, Andrea, and Robert West, TX
Kevin, You will be greatly missed and never forgotten Steve Lane and family Bruceville-Eddy VFD
My prayers and thoughts are with Sarah and Reeve at this trying time of their loss of a great husband and father.
God Bless young Mr. Kevin William Sanders and a great Thank You from all of us here in the USA for the Daily Heroic work of guys like him!
We know he is now in a better place and surely went directly to Our Lord!
I am greatly saddened to hear of Kevin's death. He was someone you didn't forget. Great sense of humor...smart as a whip. A true light in my classroom. I will grieve deeply for you, Kevin. What a true hero!
Your dedication is in keeping with the highest standards of "GIVING" in life and service to others.
On behalf of all your fellow First Responders... Rest in Peace our brother and may God welcome you in his open and loving arms.
You will remain in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
Our family is deeply sadden by the lost of a cherish loved one. May God comfort the Family and friends of the lost one.
Prayers for Sarah, Reeve and all of the family. Kevin was truly a "Superman"
Kevin was a co worker & friend. The loss of his life saddens us all, but he will always be remembered as a hero. My thoughts and prayers are with Sarah, Reeve, and the entire Sanders family during this difficult time.
I am a native Texan who resided in Waco for 20 years before moving to Central IL. The news about the tragedy and loss of the first responders lives in West, TX has been overwhelmingly sad for me and we are all grieving with your family. Kevin is a brave hero and West, TX will be forever grateful for him. May the Lord bless you and keep you in his comforting arms.
Sorry for your lost. May God's word the Bible and the many cherished memories of Kevin get you through this difficult time.
God Bless the family of Kevin Sanders. Our hearts are heavy for the family, friends and his fellow firefighter brothers. God Bless you all!
There aren't words for me to express what Kevin meant to me, except to say that he was such a good friend... even when he was telling me what I didn't want to hear, giving me advice but my teenage pride wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt. Kevin was such an important part of my life and even though we lost touch it meant something to me to know that he was out there being awesome and living life. My heart is broken for his family: Sarah, Reeve, Scott, Sandy, Jeanette and your families, if it hurts us this much to lose him, I can't imagine how you're feeling. All the usual sentiments seem so trite and meaningless in the face of this - but know that we will always keep his spirit in our hearts. As they say so beautifully in the new Superman movie, "you will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive for..." You've given us this ideal, Kevin, may we always live up to your legacy.
My deepest condolences to the Sanders family. I didn't know Kevin, but I'm sure he was a remarkable man. He gave his life trying to save others. May Kevin RIP. God bless you.
Mr. Sanders was a teacher of mine when he was teaching at Fox College. My favorite one of course. Always willing to go that extra mile with any student, no matter the problem they had. For me it was math. He stayed after class with me and helped me threw my problems. Mr. Sanders was a very humble man. He will forever be my hero, superman.
I remember Kevin from his youth and then met him again as a young man a few years back. What a wonderful nephew who had married a sweet woman. May God now keep you in His care and guide Sarah and Reeve in the days ahead.
Love, Aunt Diane
There is a petition to light up Chicago's lakefront by honoring Kevin with his name emblazoned on lakefront highrises as is done for numerous charities and sports events during the year on the night of the premiere of the Superman movie June 14, 2013, we need 250,000 signatures, we are at 800 please google Kevin's name and you will see the link asking Rahm Emanuel to honor our hero from Chicago.....since the President is also a hometown resident we don't think this is a stretch please give a beautiful tribute to Kevin one that someday his son will be able to share.
God Bless Sara and Reeve and all of Kevin's family members suffering from a beautiful life cut too short. However, Kevin's memory will live on in the hearts and lives of those who had the privilege to know him however brief....Kevin was a member of the Sacred Heart Teen Group as was my daughter Michelle, who played Mary along with Kevin's Jesus during lent. I will never forget that it was her father that drove her to Sacred Heart to join the teen group at age 14 and she was reluctant. Kevin welcomed her with a rose to one of her first group meetings...he had such a big heart and his memory is larger than life and he will always be a hero a real life and blood hero much greater than the hero he loved in Superman. His memory will live on as one of our own Chicago heroes in such a way that even he would have been amazed. Love and prayers,
Kevin is a great man. I am honored to be able to call him not just a teacher, but a friend. He always had a good word for me, even if I was in the worst mood ever. We had our ups and downs, but made it through. He was my cheerleader, my friend, and my mentor. I will miss him always.
Sandy and family, So very sorry for your loss. I remember Kevin coming in to Comcast to see you at work. He was such a remarkable young man. May god bless & keep you all.
Condolences to family and loved ones. May the God of all comfort be with you.
Kevin. A husband to one. A father to one. A hero to many. You were taken from us way too soon. May you rest in peace with our Lord and may God bless your family, and their faith continue to carry them forward.
Sandy I want you to know how sorry I am for your loss. I remember meeting Kevin once. You and I talked often about his love of animals and I remember thinking that for his age at the time he knew what he wanted to do. He sounded like a remarkable young man. He was just a little more then a year older then Adam and I can't imagine your pain. I will keep you and the rest of your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Kevin was truly a great guy, person and friend. Kevin always knew how to make you smile or laugh. He always made sure to let you know he was there for you. I knew Kevin from working with him at the local Jewel in the neighborhood. He was just that perfect person to know and have in your life, and it always hits home when we lose a "fellow brother" and friend...always in our hearts and prayers. we are proud to have known such a wonderful man. God be with his family always.
Beloved Kevin..too young too soon you are gone from your loved ones vision. God bless your family. Sara, his beautiful wife, hopefully you will someday not hurt so much...bless Reeve. Love to all of your family,Aunt Julie
Kevin we will miss you forever. You were a great friend! I will never forget you. The times we spent in the teen group, the plays we were in, our discussions about ford and dodge and we would each show off which one was better, me with the truck, and you with the general lee charger. I loved serving mass with you and our biggest mass of all when you got to be the main server for Cardinal Bernardine at the dedication of the new church. Rest in peace dear friend, until we meet again.
Kevin...forever and always in our hearts. Thank you for sharing yourself with so many. You will be greatly missed...
I didn't know Kevin but my prayers are with his family. I am married to a firefighter and understand the unselfish nature of such a man. God blessed us with Angels on this earth. Debbie(Moffat, TX)
May knowing you're in the hearts and thoughts of others help you and yours through this time of sorrow.
I was Kevin's friend and Youth Minister at Sacred Heart Parish. We will never forget him. Never. He left an impression on everyone he met. We have so many memories of Kevin in the teen group. I remember the Leonardo Dicaprio poster on the bus, when Kevin cut out the mouth and put his own mouth in its place and talked to passing cars. I remember him playing Gabriel and standing on a tall ladder so it would look like he was standing on top of the stable. Then, of course, I remember him playing Jesus in the Living Stations.Carrying the cross. That was Kevin, always carrying others burdens and never caring about himself. That light of his will never be put out. He is, was and always will be a Super Man.
The loss of a Husband, Father, Son, and Brother is heart breaking. We are truely sorry for your loss. Kevin was a beautiful person and he will always be remembered that way.
Kevin was my daughter Jenni's teacher, friend and mentor. I met Kevin at her graduation from the vet tech program. He gave his all. A wonderful man. I am honored to have met him. Your family has my deepest condolences.
Valrie (Haymarket Virginia)
Kevin, there are no words for you my friend, you are our superman now and always. God will watch over Sarah and Reeve. RIP you will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathy to the family.
My prayers are with Kevin's family at this sad time. He was the husband of my G-niece Sarah and although I didn't know Kevin I've heard nothing but good about him. How kind he was and how he was always ready to help human or animal. May he rest in peace. A true hero
Kevin will be missed by all of us here at the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Depr. You will not be forgotten . As your friends say ,SUPERMAN
Your fellow fire fighters
Mr. Sanders was one of my teachers at Fox College. He was an amazing teacher, very helpful, patient and wanted the best for all his students. My prayers go out to his family. He will be missed.
Kevin and I were friends in high school, through theater, Marist band, IYB, and beyond. Kevin always had a way about him that drew people in, a natural charisma that made everyone want to be his friend. Part of that was the way he made everyone around him feel like they were incredibly special. I am so glad to know that this trait carried through the rest of his life, with the animals he helped, the students he taught, through his friends and family, and the selfless manner in which he lived. Sarah and Reeve, you are in my prayers. May you take solace in knowing that you were the most important people in the world to a most important man. RIP Kevin.
I knew Kevin through my kids when they all were in high school. He was always so full of life and energy. He was a big tease but always respectful of my place as a mother of his friends. I remember one Halloween specifically. I was in the kitchen making something at the stove. He crept in behind me wearing a mask and costume from the "Scream" movie. Needless to say, I screamed so loud when I turned around and saw him, I don't know who was more frightened at that point. God Bless you, Kevin. And bless your wife and baby. Somehow it's not surprising that "Superman Sanders" would name his son "Reeve" after the original and second-in-line Supermen. My heart aches for your family. I will forever keep them in my prayers.
Keven was a good man. I first met him when he was in IYB with my sister. He will be dearly missed by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who knew him. In my eyes he was a true hero. Rest in Peace Kevin.
Kevin was such a wonderful young man. When my dog was in need, he was on the floor loving and comforting her. His heart was amazing, will miss his genuine kindness and big smile. Rest in peace. May God bless his family.
I did not know Kevin but that does not stop a painful spot in my heart from hurting and feeling this tragic loss. May the Family trust in God (john 17:3) for endurance to cope with the loss of a love one.
I worked with Kevin at Worth Animal Hospital back in high school. He was such a good friend and co-worker. It hasn't been the same for me in any other animal hospital. He was such a positive force to be around. He has touched so many in such a short life. You can't say that about many people. All of us who knew him are probably better people because of him. I just wish I could have said that TO him instead of ABOUT him...... I will be praying for Sarah and Reeve. It's not fair, but he died how he lived.....an absolute gem for helping anybody who needed it.
I knew Kevin very briefly in high school and remember his memorable role as the Rabbi in Fiddler on the Roof. He is a true hero and was taken far too soon. Rest in peace.
Kevin was always so wonderful! From being in IYB with him to doing shows in high school I have nothing but great memories of him. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time
Kevin never had a bad word to say about anyone. I knew him through high school theater and am so lucky to have videos of some of the shows he performed in. He was such a bright light and will be missed.
There are so many things I remember about Kevin, and even though its been awhile since I've seen him, it seems he didn't change much. Kevin was one of the most kindhearted, hard working people I had ever met. He loved people and animals in a way that made you want to be a better person. He had a goofy sense of humor and even when he would tell a joke, he would make sure that you knew it was "just a joke!!"
It's hard to believe that the world has lost him, but I hope that his family finds solace in knowing how many people he touched throughout his life.
I knew Kevin in high school he was a super guy and he will be missed. Rip superman
Kevin was a teacher of mine at fox and by far the best teacher anybody could have I am deeply saddened by his loss and will miss his crazy ways of teaching but at least I will never forget anything he taught me thanks for being who you were and shine on
The world has lost a true hero. Kevin was always lead by his heart and always put others first. He died like he lived - a hero, Superman. He was soooo excited to be a dad, and Reeve will know him only by his legend. My prayers go out to Sarah and Reeve. You have a true angel watching over you.
Words can not express the sorrow I feel for his Wife, Son and Family at this time. Seems he left good memories where ever he went. Once again the good die young. And he lived a life that many will remember. God Bless Kevin and all that knew him.
Kevin sanders was my teacher at fox. He was such an inspiration to us all & truly cared about his students. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends
He was one of the best teachers I've ever had. He had such unique ways to help us remember information and he always knew how to keep us motivated. He impacted the lives of so many people and he will be missed by many. Rest in peace Superman!
Kevin Sanders was my teacher at Fox College. He was the best teacher I ever had. It was a privilege/honor to be a student of his. I will cherish everything he has taught me. He will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Sarah and his son Reeve.
My deepest sympathies and prayers for Kevin's family
Helpful, caring and friendly that's how I remember Kevin from his involvement at Sacred Heart Church - he was the first teen member of Parish Council. Always there to give a hand and to help in any way. Sad to hear about his passing.
From the day that I met Kevin Sanders (freshman year football) he has always been someone I considered a genuine nice guy. I was going through some medical issues and was not able to compete in football but remember when I came back to school, Kevin greeted me with a handshake and a smile. You can see the general concern he had and the happiness of seeing me back. This is when I just met him. Through the years, I was able to get to know Kevin and do many theatrical productions with him. He is someone that you always would be there to laugh or to be serious with.
The world is a better place for having Kevin in it. Though I am saddened by this, and continue to pray for his wife, son, friends and family, I smile knowing that Kevin died being the person we all knew his as. A Genuine Hero (Superman...for those who knew him).
My first memory of Kevin was seeing his superman car for the first time. His nickname was Superman and he really was. I only met him a few times but he had this energy about him that made him seem so caring and loving. He was a real modern day hero and he will be missed greatly by all who he has touched with his love. RIP Superman, you're my hero.
I did not know Kevin, but I would just like to thank him for his ULTIMATE SACRIFICE to save someone else. I am sure that he was a fine man and I know first hand what it is like to lose a brother. Please know that the people of the US are praying for you and your family during this difficult time.
Kevin was an amazing friend, husband, father, teacher, employee, and the list could go on and on, but most importantly he was a real life Superman. He will leave a legend for his son with the lives that he touched. My husband, Cade, and I will miss him dearly.
Kevin was a Super Man. He was everything good a man should be, a good son, brother, uncle, husband and lastly father. He will be missed by all who ever was lucky enough to get to know him. Patty Winker (Worth, IL)
Kevin Sanders is superman. For all that have met him, he is a hero. My mentor and role model, I will never forget all the lessons he gave me for life. It hurts to know you are gone. You will forever be missed.
Kevin was the nicest person I have ever met. He will always be a hero in my book.May his memory live on with all the differences he made in Waco.
Kevin was a sweet young man. I met him at our Jewel Store where he worked with my son, Jason, as they were going to college. Even when he called our house, he would talk to me before I'd get Jason for him. He'd wish me "Happy Mother's Day" or ask how I was doing. A real great guy. His Mom did a wonderful job! I know God will find a special place for him. God bless his whole family and beautiful son, Reeve.
I had Kevin as a teacher for many classes at the Vet Tech Institute in IL, he was the kindest most caring teacher I've had in the history of my education. He always put the students first, made sure we understood everything and went over it as many times as needed until we did. He was a jokester, kind hearted, and a true hero. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand and run to the rescue of others. Clearly. He will always be remembered and missed by all who know him. Prayers and blessings to his wife, baby boy, and family.
Kevin died doing what came naturally to him, helping others. Whether as a technician, teacher or EMS/Firefighter he always made you feel you could do better. He was someone you wanted to emmulate. Prayers to his family, he will be missed.
Kevin was my Veterinary Pharmacology, Vet Surgery and Anesthesia, and Intro Vet Tech Lab Instructor at the McLennan Community College Veterinary Technology Program in Waco, TX. In addition to his volunteer Fire Dept duties and going to EMT classes in West, Kevin was an excellent Veterinary Technician who enjoyed teaching others his skills. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Kevin Sanders is an amazing man. Kind, giving, there for others. It is a sad day when someone this well loved is taken from us. I will miss him as will so many others! I am glad I was able to meet him at VTI.
God bless you Kevin, and may He wrap his arms around your family
Great man. He was a leader since I have known him in our high school days at Marist. Being the drum major, he led us with a passion rarely seen in people. Words do not describe his kindness, sincerity, and love for his fellow man. God bless Kevin and all the Sanders family.
I knew Kevin in high school. He was absolutely a genuinely kind person. So saddened by his death.
a great teacher and a beautiful/sincere person, he is the reason I graduated vet tech school.
Kevin was my daughters pharmacology teacher for her Vet Tech class....I did have the honor meeting him and visiting a few times...very nice guy and hardworking...and a wonderful teacher who wanted the students to learn....he will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and the staff and his students.
Kevin was my pharmacology teacher. He was a great teacher and friend, he loved to joke around. He will be missed dearly by all of us.
I worked with Kevin several years ago in Indiana. He was the absolute nicest person. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone, tried to help everyone get along and was just a genuine person. I'm shocked and saddened by his death, but not surprised that he died while helping others. Rest in peace, Kevin
I don't know Kevin, but he was a hero in my book. The family is in my thoughts & prayers.
Our hearts go out to Kevin, who died doing what he loved. May we all live the same way. Romans 15:33.
