There will not be a voice such as the unique voice of Mr. Levi Stubbs. For me, as a child, when you remember your child's first words, well, my first song was "Sugar Pie, Honeybunch" and doing a dance called the duck. Mr. Stubbs, a fabulous singer, a wonderful family man, and just all around entertainer and friend to many. You are missed, can't NOBODY holler BERNADETTE!!! and make her stop and come right back!!! God rest your soul, Mr. Stubbs.

I have listened to The Four Tops since I was a kid. I am 59 now. Back in 1979 I had a breakdown and suicide was on my mind every second of the day. I would lay in my room and listen to the 4 Tops because I was bound to my room. It took me a long time to recover. It was Levi and the 4 Tops that saved my life. And this is the honest truth. I listen to his music often and it brings back tears. It is emotional when I listed. It brings back the pain but also the hope they gave me to continue on in life. I recovered and have had a wonderful life. A beautiful wife and 4 beautiful children. God helping me find my way daily. If someone in his family reads this I want you to know your father is one of the greatest people in my life. He saved my life. Thank you for sharing your dad with me in my life.

There is, and never will be another soul singer like Levi, i recently discovered 'Left with a broken heart',, it brought tears to my eyes. Levi can do this like no one else. In the U.K, Tamla and Northern soul is still going as strong as ever, but for me, there is only one voice of soul. Levi can take you to the heights of happiness or drop u to the depths of despair. If there is a heaven then levi is there tugging at everybodies heart strings. There is bright star in heaven, Levi Stubbs, because no one else on earth has a voice like his.

We thank God you were here. We thank God for your gift, a voice truly amazing, a heart and soul big enough for the entire universe to hear and to love. The world will never forget all you've given, and what a darker place it would have become had you not been here. Rest well and know you were loved and admired...tremendously. May God surround you with His grace, eternally. Patricia

For Levi...The power in your
voice when you sang Reach
Out I'll Be There move anyone
who heard it.

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

To The Stubbs Family: I am so sorry he is no longer here with us, but do know that he is still here with us in spirit. I pray that you all will be comforted by these words:

Try to remember that a GOOD man never dies; You will see him many times.
You will feel him in all things that are here out of love, and for love.
The person of a man may leave or be taken away, but the best part of a GOOD man stays. It stays FOREVER!
January 21, 2010
I was very sad, hearing of Levi's passing. He is and will remain, one my favorites. His voice is tremendous.
My absolute favorite. His appearance at lifetime achievement award, for Denzel. " I believe in you and Me ".
That song, his rendition. Absolutely spiritual...Although; the Shell, may have passed, his memory lives on, for Eternity..R.I.P. My heartfelt condolences to all.

To the Family ~ Those we love left us with gifts in the form of memories that no one can take away. They gave us wisdom that we can still recall, companionship when we were alone, comfort when we needed it, and memories of their laughter and smile. These are gifts of love that are ours to keep. Though I do not know the family, I would like to extend my condolences. May the tender mercy that God has always shown be with your family now so that you will know that you are not alone. And may the prayers of others help in some small way to bring you strength, comfort and courage each day. Many words will be expressed, yet we know God can express and provide to you and your family everything that is needed to care and sustain your hearts. - Isaiah 41:10 & 13.

God bless you Levi - that Motown choir in heaven just keeps getting better.

My sincerest condolences to the Stubbs family on their loss.

Levi, you will be truly missed. God will definitely look after your family. You were one of the truly great singers of all times. You put the "B" in baritone. To the family of Levi, I would like to send my condolescence to all of you. We have had so many good singers to goG home to be with Heavely Father and all of our other "Old School Singers. " I remember you and TheFour Tops so good and I still have your music. It just saddened me to see so many singers leaving so fast back to back but God only knows. He only want the good so that's why we have to try and understand. I remember being at the old school parties with my afro, my platform shoes and we danced and danced to records like, Baby I Need Your Lovin', Reach Out, I'll Be There, I Can't Help Myself, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch and many more. I can still remember all the words to those songs and the many more songs you guys sung. We will always remember your voice. Back in the day, when you heard music on the radio, you knew every group. I can remember your voice and there is no one else that could sing like you. It saddend me so much to see another one of our old school singers leave us. It takes so much out of us. It hurts so much. But again, god knows best and we all have to go to leave her someday, but I never dream they would be going so fast. Again to the family, we have been praying for you and we will keep him and the other Four Tops that we have lost in our prayers and hearts. Levi, 'GOODBYE' and we will never forget you. One day we will meet you in God's Kingdom and we will have so many people to see again, hear and sing and we will have a happy good time. Until, we meet again. we"lOVE YOU'. and we will miss you so, so, much. Again Levi, 'GOODBYE.'

God Bless You Levi. I was raised in Detroit during the birth and boom of Motown. Your voice and the music of the Tops will always be treasured. My love to you and all the Motown family that greeted you on your entrance to the next place.
October 25, 2008
I am 61 years old. The Four Tops were the soundtrack for my young adult life. They still can get me up and dancing (what passes for dancing for me, anyway). My own husband died on October 19. Listening to Levi's tribute on NPR has brought back so many sweet memories of when I first met my husband.

May you take some measure of comfort in knowing how many people Levi "reached out" and touched with his beautiful singing and his great songs.
October 24, 2008
I was born 1951 so you can say that I grew up with the Four Tops. I really did love to hear Mr. Stubbs sing. He had a voice that would make anyone just stop and take notice of him. Their songs had meaning. Now a days the songs are just music.
May God continue to watch over his family and give them peace at a time like this. He will be truly missed in the musical industry.
To me Mr. Stubbs seemed liked a very likeable person who would go out of his way to make another person feel special.
October 24, 2008
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.
October 24, 2008
My heart goes out to the Stubbs family, Levi will surely be missed, I still love listening to those songs, Baby I need your loving is one of my favorites, he will forever remain in our hearts. with love, Stephany Arnold

It is a privilege to say goodbye to the Captain of my favorite singing group ever. I can't think of the 4 TOPS without thinking of Levi. I love the 4 TOPS' music still (and, of course "STILL WATERS" is my favorite song of all time). However -- even more, I love the loyalty and true friendship I saw in that group (simple -- the 4 TOPS -- nobody clawing trying to pull the others down -- so they could be on top). They were one in love and loyalty to themselves. This group was more amazing than many of us know -- as they could sing many genres of music -- and did. Rest in Peace Levi for you did not waste the gift that God gave you, but blessed many hearts all over the world. With my deepest sympathy -- Peace and Love to the Stubbs family.

October 24, 2008
Growing up with the Motown Sound, it was a pleasure to hear the outstanding voice of Levi Stubbs. I remember when the Four Tops performed at Tangiers in Akron, Ohio, I was close to the stage and Levi asked if there were any requests. I asked for him to sing "MacArthur Park," and he obliged, it was an experience I will never forget. The Four Tops are to be commended in that they stayed together and was never in the news with negative stories. Levi will be greatly missed.
October 24, 2008
It felt the same as losing a brother, it is a loss that will stay with me for a long. A voice that no one can immulate, the was only one Levi.

He will be missed my condolences to the family.
October 24, 2008
What a rich and melodious voice and he had such great stage presence. The last I saw him perform sitting in a wheelchair overwhelmed me. His body looked frail but his voice was so strong. Heaven is blessed to have Mr. Stubbs now singing in the heavenly choir. Truly this man is one of God's angels. May the family find peace in comfort in the Lord and the many fans who wish you well.

James 1:17 (King James Version)
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

Levi Stubbs voice was a “perfect gift” from God, his classic musical styling will never be duplicated, and his beautiful spirit will never die.

Mr. Stubbs distinctive voice and excellent musical interpretations of songs will last throughout history, and will always represent the best of “The Motown Sound.”

There will never be another voice like Mr. Stubbs'. He WAS the Four Tops. God bless him for the music and joy he gave generations, especially those of us that grew up in the 60s. My sincerest sympathy and prayers go to his family.
October 23, 2008
Levi had a unique voice and his instantly recognisable vocals continue to provide the background to so many wonderful memories for a whole generation (and more) of fans like myself. Unfortunately, I never had the privilege of seeing him perform live but he & the Tops epitomised the Motown sound at its finest. Thank you - both for the good times........and seeing us through the bad times too. God bless.
October 23, 2008
My thoughts, condolences, and prayers goes out to the family of the late, great, Four Top himself, Mr. Levi Stubbs. Levi demonstrated the essence of class and humbleness. He will always be missed; but, his expression through Four Tops songs will always lived on. My favorite Four Tops songs are: "I'll Turn To Stone, Still Water, That's the Way Nature Planned It, and All In the Game." Levi is now singing with the rest of the R&B greats that passed on before him, and he is now in God's care. Even though I was a youngan when the Tops hit the scene, I remember their music as happy times. RIP!

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5: 4(NKJV)
October 23, 2008
This is a very sad time for all of us that loved "The Four Tops", may the Lord continue too hold you, the family of Levi in his unchanging arms and comfort you as the days goes by. We will all get too see him and hear his tremendous voice in Heaven again someday. Family you are in my heart & prayers.Just think of the wonderful times that you had with him, that will be with you forever.

God Bless,

October 22, 2008
I was preparing for work early last Friday morning when i heard the news on the radio of Levi Stubbs' passing.Oh No!!!! I remember saying to myself. please God, No!!! I remember hearing the Four Tops as a child growing up in the sixties in The Atl. I Can't Help Myself was the number one hit then. I could'nt have been more than 10 or 11 years old, but the groove was soulful and easy to dance and sing to. Levi had a way of doing his neck back and forth when he started to feel the song. His Trademark!!!!! To Cliniece and his Family, Thanks for allowing us to share this remarkably talented man with you, and to God, Thanks for creating "LEVI" to sing his talents into the lives of so many. He truly will be missed by all who have ever heard of " The Four Tops".If you want to know how all of his fans are feeling at this moment, then all you have to do is just "Ask The Lonely". What a magnificent voice!!!! I will always remember his finesse and grace when he appeared on stage. Gone Too Soon,Definitely. My Prayers are with you and yours as you prepare your hearts and minds for what may be the most difficult thing in this life to ever do, and that is to bid Adieu to the physical body, while embracing forever his spirit. His fans will always remember him, thereby keeping him alive, and will always play his music. Rest in Peace, my Friend

Always,
Susan Jackson

...My mother called me on the phone and told me she had read in the newspaper that Levi Stubbs had died. We both cried. Understand, I, nor my mother, have never had the pleasure of meeting him in person. It was his voice and the Four Tops music that is classic. I remember as a pre-teen my mom would joke when she heard Mr. Stubb's sing and say that was her husband! I grew up listening to "REAL" music and Levi and the Four Tops were instrumental in making such music. Our hearts and prayers are with your family and loved ones during this sad time. You have lived a charmed life...God touched you with such talent. Rest now
October 22, 2008

Levi, you rank among the greats such as: Ruffin, Kendricks, Robinson,Mayfield, Wilson and others. Your favorite tune for me is; The big Red Girl is Gone. You were blessed by God with the gift of song. May your journey be peaceful, eternal and everlasting. You are gone, but will never be forgotten.
October 22, 2008
Quite simply...Levi Stubbs was my hero. He made me want to listen to Motown. He is, and always will be "My giant" in the music business. Truly one of the greatest voices i've ever heard. As a teenager in the 60's, I listened to the Four Tops. Now when I hear them, it's like I'm right back in the 60's again. It's strange how music can take you back to a certain place and time. The world has lost a great talent.
October 22, 2008
The Four Tops helped me through boarding school. I listened to their records every day. My condolences to Levi Stubbs' family and friends. He had people who cared about him, that he never met.

Our condolences to Mrs. Cliniece Stubbs and the family. Also to Mr. Abdul "Duke" Fakir, surviving original member. We, my husband and I, knew Mr Stubbs through the music of 'The Four Tops'. We were married in 1965 and 'Baby I Need Your Lovining' was Our Song. My husband even sang it to me time and time again. We missed those songs from when music was 'real' music. God bless you all. Please keep the faith.
October 22, 2008
To the family and the entire musical Motown Family of Mr. Stubbs, I want to express my condolences. My prayers are with you. Mr. Stubbs was definitely a remarkable and down to earth performer. I have a few of the Four Tops recordings on the Motown Disc Collection from 1959 - 1971. He will be missed. Although he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will always live forever in our hearts.
October 22, 2008
May GOD wrap his arms around your loving family during this time. I dont know you or your family but I want to sayThank You for The Music over the Years.
October 22, 2008
i had the pleasure of seeing the four tops years ago at south shore music circus in cohasset ma on one of the hottest nights in years - so hot the instruments had to be cooled by huge fans. the heat never slowed the group down. they put on one of the most wonderful shows i have ever seen. they had the whole place really rocking and when they were done the crowd didn't want to let them go. we gave them one of the longest standing ovations i've ever seen. they were followed by the temptations - a great group in their own right - but that seemed a little flat after the four tops. i thank you all for one of the most unforgettable musical evenings i have ever had
October 22, 2008
The four tops were always one of my favorite groups growing up in the 60s. I still listen to these great songs wherever i go. The world has lost a great talent.

October 22, 2008
I must say, that I am familiar with the Four Tops. I grew up with their music as a teenager in the 70's. I would like to give my condolence to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I truly know that he will be greatly missed by all that knew him through his love, his friendship, and his music. One thing I know is that God make no mistakes. He just prepared a better place for Levi. When the gates of heaven swing open, God will be standing ,waiting, and he will look at Levi and say, Servant, well done.

RIP Levi...you finally made home. Godbless!

October 21, 2008
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome you.""

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......""My day was not in vain.""
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

At the age of 28 I already know I will never hear another voice like Levi Stubbs Jr. His voice, the passion he sang with, could evoke so many emotions on a person. I grew up in a home where The Four Tops were played were played SOOOO much! I knew it was going to be a good day in the Gray household when my Dad was in the kitchen cooking and The Four Tops were blaring out of the speakers. My Dad groomed us from infancy teaching us the songs...the names of the members....taking us to their concerts. Levi, you will truely be missed. Though your music (all four of you) you have left me with some wonderful memories! Thank you for being the soundtrack to my life!

My grandpa played your music often. His name to most is "Uncle Chuck" but to me he was just Grandpa Gray. One of his goals was to make sure I heard great music in my lifetime. He made sure I knew your music. it is in my heart now! I know all the Four Tops songs, and I'm very sad to hear you had to go rest for awhile. But I still get to hear all your voices at least once a week at my grandparents, my aunts, or my moms house. I'm 8 years old and I have been listening to the Four Tops for 8 years now. I'm learning how to read music so I can play "Bernadette" and "Still Waters" on my flute. My mommy is helping me since she plays herself. Hopefully one day, I can play my flute for you and we all can sing and smile again. I love you! Jadie-Bird!

My deepest Sympathy to Levi Stubbs family...

I grew up listening to Motown music, one of my favorite groups were The Four Tops, I specially loved Levi Stubbs singing, he had a great voice that kept you upbeat just by listining to him sing. I did see them in person more than once. I loved the way they group sang "I Can't Help Myself," "Baby I Need Your Loving" and all of their songs, too many to write in this Guess Book.

Levi Stubbs will be remember as a great artist, he could have made it singing on his own, but he chose to be with the group, which was also great. I will always cherish his singing with the beloved Four Tops...

Vaya con Dios Levi Stubbs...

Thank you Levi. Let God rain down your voice from Heaven forever. You will always be remembered and loved. "Duke" Fakir is the last of the Original Four Tops still with us. Rest in Peace! I will think of you everytime I see the movie "Little Shop Of Horror" ... Another great voice has been silenced.
October 21, 2008
As I was college bound in '66, Levi and The Four Tops became my favorites among all the great voices of the Soul Era. I collected all that they produced and nearly wore the albums out. Be it Hartford or Wallingford, CT, or later in Charlotte, NC I still get the chills when I reflect upon the sounds of Levi and the Tops. God Bless you Stubbs family for sharing a timeless talent that helped clarify and purify my musical taste.
October 21, 2008

In memory of Levi Stubbs: The Four Tops were a handsome and smooth group. Always loved their music. Mr. Stubbs was a dynamic lead singer and made us proud with their songs and dance routines. You will be missed but we will always have your music. "Bernadette" "I Can't Help Myself".....to name a few. So sorry for your loss.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Wooooow...I grew up listening to the Four Tops believing that this was only one singing group, singing to real music! Because that's what my daddy told me! He wouldn't have it no other way! I mean y'all don't hear me though! Mr Gray is their number one fan! There is no other! Even the Four Tops knew it! Every time he went to a concert, They would pull him back stage. A "friend" who comes from miles around to see them, to listen to good music, was always welcome! I mean come on, my dad bought a house on "Bernadette Street!" Yeah! Now, you tell me! My poor mother was dragged all over the country following these Five Guys! Yes, Five! Them Four on Tour, and then there was dad! (lol) listen, my dad sworn up and down he was the Fifth Top! And to top it off, he favored Levi and his mannerisms. (lol) Daddy set his Four Top Journey to collect everything he could find, that has any and everything to do with the group. He has stuff I don't even think they personally had! (lol) The music's impact was so embedded in our hearts and our lives, that all my sister's first wedding dance, and the father & daughter dances were to Four Top songs too! I'm the oldest@37 yrs old and when I had my daughter (Jadelynn) 8 and a half years ago, "Mac Author Park" seem to be my anthem theme song as I brought home a newborn who listened as it blared throughout daddy's house. From that day forward, it hit me that my daughter had been accustomed to hearing Four Tops music while in the womb and I really wasn't going to have that recipe again, as well. I ended up the one who cried like a baby! It was actually impossible for us to escape it. it was like we couldn't have an event in that household unless, The Four Tops were present on a CD, a DVD, an MP3...you name it! But it's been a lot of fun. So now, as I give you a sense of what The Gray family is going through, in this time of sorrow, It is out of total unconditional love for me to give my condolences to Levi's family, Duke & friends. Just know Duke, that as you stand alone, you are not by yourself! You represent the Four Tops still so graciously; and long live the Four Tops!!! I'm sure I speak for many more...plus Mr Gray wouldn't have it any other way! You guys set the pace of showing the younger generation, how to really stick together through thick & thin. I mean...I stop counting after 40+years of you guys being together as an original group! That's history in itself! You have touch our lives in many ways you would never know. But, I do know the hurt my dad is feeling, and to see him down, I can image Levi's family & friends and their pain. So I pray and hope that Jehovah God thru his Son Christ Jesus gives you & your family the strength to hold on...and live your life to love the memories forever more. Our beloved Levi Stubbs is resting in peace now and awaiting the resurrection. Thank you Stubbs Family for sharing your Son, Brother, Husband, Daddy, and Friend, with Us. It's been a pleasure! We all await to talk to you again as my dad would say, "Levi Stubbs Jr!" "Guaranteed by Jehovah God." Revelations 21:4-7

"God Reached Out"

Although we're never ready to let go and say goodbye
God knows when we've had enough and comes in the twinkling of an eye
He loaned Levi to the world to share his gift of song
Along with so many other great voices they entertained us for so long

And now another great voice is added to that Heavenly stage
He left a legacy of music that we'll always be able to engage
With so many memories of special people and sharing so much love
God you chose another gift to return with you above

May God bless Levi's family and console their hearts each day
Remember the world is thankful for the talent he sent our way-----

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
October 20, 2008
I have wonderful memories; I remember my history teacher, Ace Cudillo at Cass Tech H.S., Detroit, bragging about Levi being an alumnus and of seeing him golf at Palmer Park golf course. This was in 1966 long before the Tiger Woods phenomena. I remember the Motown reviews at the Fox Theatre and little known one at the Riviera Theatre. I saw the Four Tops perform What is the Hyatt now at Fairlane; at DB's;"Still Waters Run Deep" brings back memories of our youth. He made Detroiter's proud to say they were native Detroiters and shared the experience of Motown with Levi and other greats like him. My heart felt sympathy goes out to the family. You shared a time in history with Levi that wil never be repeated. God Bless and keep you all!
October 20, 2008
The World would be a better place if we all sit down and listen to lLevi. When the Four Tops were performing, no one cared who was sitting next to you .we were one just listening to Levi.

I have reached a point in my life where these songs have a very special meaning -- they remind me of those years growing up as a teenager in Oklahoma, when all I had to look forward to were songs performed by Motown artists. You will always be remembered in my heart and I am certain, in the hearts of many others. God's speed.

To the Family of One of my Favorite Groups,

That voice, voice, voice...there is none other-"In These Changing Times." There will be beautiful and heavenly harmony going down, now, that you're in the company of Jacquie, James, Marvin, Luther, Rick, Barry, Issac, and many other crooners on the night shift. I got much love for you brother. Now-get your soul-filled up and rest on...

October 20, 2008
As the road manager, and then personal bodyguard to the late, Jackie "Mr. Excitement" Wilson. I shall always remember the kindness, as well gentle loving respect that was between Jackie and his Motown family.
The Four Tops were there when Jackie passed away, and then were pallbears at Jackie's funeral in Detroit.
My friendship with The Four Tops, will always be special because of what each member of the group was behide the private wall off the stage of this sometimes crazy and exciting business that we call the music business.
My heart and soul, hurts really badly at the news of the passing of a true pioneer and founding member of one of Motown's early chart makers.
Levi always told me, that if it were not for Berry Gordy writing Jackie's very first hit recording...there may not have been any Motown Records at all!
I am so glad to have called not only The Four Tops, my friends...but to say that each original member is still apart of my family who I love ad respect in the highest degree even today.
Now both Levi, as well as Jackie are up there in Rock & Roll Heaven singing together along side of Bo Diddley as well Ike Turner and Bam Bam Lane of Bill Haley's Comets...WOW, what a jam session is going on right now I can only think about!
October 20, 2008

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

October 20, 2008
May your soul rest in Peace. You are one of my all time favorite singers. Heaven is much richer now.
October 20, 2008
To The Family
The Four Tops have been a part of my life all of my 40 years here. I am so saddened and my heart goes out to you. It's so sad to loose a loved one, it brings heartache and pain that seems to never stop. It's comforting to know that Almighty God knows and feels your pain. That is why he has given us his words to comfort us. Psalm 34:18 assures us,"He is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." He is the "God of all comfort" (2 Corinthians 1:3) Soon our hearts will be free of pain, because Jesus promise at John 5:28,29 that there will be a "resurrection". This gives us hope of being reunited with our love ones, right here on earth. Until that time God tells us at Psalm 55:22 "Throw your burden upon him and he WILL sustain YOU." May your memories of Levi along with prayer help you through the days ahead.
My Deepest Sympathy
October 20, 2008
Our hearts go out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
October 20, 2008
He reach out in heaven arm. God bless the family.. 3 members of the 4 top are gone.. God bless them all the family of the other family also.
October 20, 2008
To the Stubbs Familes,
Though I can't feel your pain, I do share your sorrow

Please know that you are not alone. Our loved ones. their lives are very special to us,
and we feel an enormous void whether they are young or old when they leave us.

Our hearts are saddend, our lives seems broken because an important piece of it is gone.
But memories will fill this place, we will laugh, cry, tell stories that will warm us and heal us.
They will never leave us. They are in a place where we can
still go to them any time, in our memories and in our hearts.
And with the sure hope of the promised resurrection, we will see them again.

May Jehovah grant you and your familes peace and comfort.
October 20, 2008

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I remember seeing the 4 Tops in the late 1980s at the Star Plaza in Merrilville, IN. The were on a double bill with Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. Both groups were fantastic, truly one of the best concerts ever. Later that night my wife and I rode a hotel elevator with Levi.
October 19, 2008
TOO THE "4-TOPS" & THEIR FAMILIES, WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL & MY VERY FIRST LOVE, WE WOULD DANCE TO "BABY I NEED YOUR LOVING - GOT TO HAVE ALL OF YOUR LOVING" - I NEVER THOUGHT MY FAVORITE OF THEM ALL - WE WOULD LOOSE THE 'VERY BEST'

Warm summer sun,

Blow softly here.

Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.

Music, when soft voices die

Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory—
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.

Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

October 19, 2008
My favorite Motown group and singer were Levi and The 4 Tops. There was no greater thrill than riding down Woodward Ave in Detroit w/ my big brother Joe when their songs were new on CKLW! Joe, who passed away 10 yrs ago, & I would sing along with The Tops. Levi always reminded me of my big brother. I am glad that I took my kids to see them over the years. Even at Pine Knob as they wheeled out Levi and Duke would still introduce him "as our captain, he will always be our captain."Our prayers are with you Levi, and your family. Rick Baran

October 18, 2008
Levi and The Tops were the very first group (The Tempts were my second) I had ever listened to when I was in elementary school in the 60's, and I haven't stopped listening to them. As an Italian kid growing up on Long Island NY, they were and will always be my HEROES! I still have many of their original albums. I saw the Tops twice, once at a club called Key Largo in West Islip LI in 1983 and once at Jones Beach theater around 1990 with the Tempts and the Spinners, AWESOME show. Levi had one of the greatest voices of all time, he was in a class by himself! You did bring joy to so many, God bless you Levi!

To the Stubbs family, I hereby extend to you my deepest sympathy. I grew up in Detroit and always loved listening to Levi and attended many Detroit concerts that were featuring Levi and The Four Tops, right now my computer holds every song sung by them. 2008 has taken many greats from us, Levi was one of them. Boy oh Boy could Levi sing. I saw him last on PBS with Aretha Franklin, as he sat in his wheelchair, Levi began to sing with her, although his was ill then, he held each note like he was ageless. Boy oh Boy, could Levi sing.
God will have a great concert up there in heaven, Levi is there. Just makes me realize that I am gonna have to be good so I can meet up with all of those greats in heaven. That will be a concert that will be priceless. Rest in Peace Brother Levi, you are loved and will be missed in Detroit and in our hearts.

I grew up listening to the Motown Sound and when you heard a song from that wonderful team of singers and musicians come on the radio, you immediately turned up the radio volume to get that beat and sound!!!
The Four Tops are true icons of music and Levi's lead voice was incredible. My grandmother recently passed away and I can remember how she loved the song, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch. My cousin and I scrapped up enough money to buy her the 45 for her birthday. That was over 40 years ago, but is still a beautiful memory to me. Rest in peace, Mr. Levi Stubbs.
October 18, 2008

For the Stubbs Family: I do not have the words that can express my deep feeling of loss with your loved ones passing, Levi Stubbs was the BEST of the best, his truly wonderful voice can and will never be replaced. I take great pride in the fact that I have every recording he made and as I have over the past 40 years will continue to treasure them each day that I play them. Your loss is so much greater than ours, but please know that we feel the pain in a differrent but profound way as well. Motown- the music, the songs, the voices, the era...one more legend of that time is gone, but his music will always live on...what a concert there must be in heaven with one more angel joining the magnificence already there. OF ALL THE HITS, THE REMAKE OF DAYDREAM BELIEVER IS STILL ONE OF MY FAVORITE "TOPS" RECORDINGS. MY HIGH SCHOOL AND AIR FORCE BANDS PLAYED "TOPS" HITS OVER 45 YEARS AGO. LEVI'S VOICE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THAT IS HOW GREAT & UNIQUE HIS VOICE IS. I'M GOING TO PULL OUT MY VINYL RECORDINGS, CASSETTES AND CDS AND PAY HOMAGE TO THE "TOPS". REST IN PEACE MR STUBBS AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY.
October 18, 2008
Little credit is given to the black singers and music that fed integration. As a white teenager in the South I did not understand why people could not love people like Levi who brought them so much joy through their music. Levi Stubbs embodied a perfect role model unlike many entertainers who reach fame through bad behavior instead of pure talent and a good heart
October 18, 2008
I also was in my teens when the four tops were at the top.I have dance a lot of years to Levi music an love every mimute if it.An to this day I still have his records an CD"s.Truly a great man an his singing group.Once again we lose an great one,but his memories will still live on. To the Family,

During those years 64-68, I was 13-17 years old. Those songs were my feelings, emotions, and I was grown enough to express myself conciously in Chicago during very sensitive and negative happenings. They helped to give me hope and a good feeling. May God continue to hold you in the palm of his hand with the knowledge that HE is in control.

God bless you and yours,
Goalminders
October 18, 2008
I grew up listening to the Motown sound. The Four Top's tunes were the ones that got turned up on the radio when the dj played them on the air. Levi Stubbs voice was dynamic and the background vocals were fantastic. I will forever remember the good times when we listened to their songs. My grandmother recently passed and I can vividly remember her loving the song, Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch. My cousin and I scrapped up money and bought her the 45 for her birthday. That was many years ago and I will cherish that thought forever

I grew up listening to the Four Tops. I loved their music then and still do. Listen to them all the time. My favorite is MacArthur Park. Listen to it to hear the range of Levi's voice. It will bring chills to you. God bless you Levi. You surely touched my life. I might add that I'm 52 and a white guy which shows music has no skin color barrier. Again Levi rest in peace. Heaven has gained another great man and voice.

Songs leave lasting memories in our hearts and minds and to be able to interpete a lyric is a gift from God. Thank you Mr Stubbs for many fond and enduring memories, you will be missed but never forgotten. And to the family please look at Revealations 21: 3, 4.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Stubbs family it brings be great sorrow to hear of the lost of such a fine person and entertainer I grew up in the motown area and love every song they made I know it was a great joy to have him in your life, just remember all the happy times and this will help with the pain as well as this bible scripture that at Revelations 21:4 that say and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be nomore neither pain nor outcrys be anymore for the former things has past away. So you see Jehovah has given his son Jesus Christ the authority to resurrect the death and be rid of that old enermy, he also promised us a life on paradise earth and perfect health isn't that wonderful we get to see our love ones again, all he ask is that we gain accurate knownledge of him and his son Jesus Christ as well as be loyal to him and you to can have the opportunity to have that promise of everlasting life. I hope these words brought some comfort to you and your family
October 17, 2008

October 17, 2008
To The Family Of Levi Stubbs: May God rest his eternal soul. Levi was blessed with one of the greatest vocal instruments I have ever heard. As a child about to enter my teen years, I first heard many of the amazing Motown classics, not the least of which was "Reach Out(I'll Be There). The impact of the lead singer was immediate, this guy could really sing!!! What a song with which to start your career! Combined with the other three voices, and the excellence of the Funk Brothers, "Reach Out"... came over the the little transistor radio speaker like a charging rhinocerous. I always remember songs that grabbed me by the nape of my neck, as if to say,"HEY YOU!! PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!!" This was one of those songs. And out in front was Levi Stubbs, singing his soul out. Now, Heaven has another great tenor in the choir. Those of us here in the Detroit area were truly blessed with all of what Motown gave to us,as was the rest of the world. Anyone over 50 should feel like they have lost a friend from their childhood. Goodbye Levi, until such a time when we all will be together for eternity.
October 17, 2008
WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR LOVING VOICE

The Four Tops was one of my favorite Motown groups. Levi Stubbs' voice was amazing. He will definitely be missed. Rest in Peace!
October 17, 2008
Oh my God, they are all leaving us. I was a young teen, when these men were on top of the world, "Reach Out, I'll be There & "7 Rooms of Gloom" another favorite. All of your songs were played at my Senior Prom over 30 years ago. Tears comes to my eyes as I think of how simple the days were. Whenever a Top's song came on, and that awesome voice of Levy. I'd stop dead my tracks and "BOP". What a wonderful, uncomplicated time that was. Since I heard the news I have been listening to 4-TOP oldies. I am old school all the way and the 4Tops music is at the top of my list. Thanks Levy and the Tops for such wonderful music and lyrics. There will never another voice like Levy Stubbs. Rest in Peace my Brother, You truly left your mark in the music world.
October 17, 2008

A cure was not to be
So he wrappered his arms around him

A golden heart stop beating
His tender hands at rest

I and the world will miss Mr. Levi Stubbs, your music and voice will live on forever. Tell Barry, Luther, Gerald, David Ruffin, Phillip Wynn and Issac we said hello and we will forever miss all of you. There is no music like "old-school soul music". Thank you so very much Mr. Stubbs.

Mr. Stubbs you will be missed from this world. The Four Tops were the Top's of all time. I grew up in the 60's when you all were a group to look up too. I remember watching a tribute to Motown when the Temps were performing and singing to your music and you all were dancing to theirs. What a wonderful group you were, there will never be another Four Tops group like yours. And the same for you Mr. Levi, there will never be another great voice like yours and the Tops. Motown had the best and it cannot be duplicated. May God hold you Mr. Stubbs in His memory and bless the family you left behind. Psalms 83:18
