For Lillian...

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. To the family of this great woman, I say to you, keep holding on to God's unchanging hands, and He will make everything alright. Take comfort in knowing that she is resting now and that she has received her championship title in Heaven. One day you will see her again!
November 17, 2007
I wrestled Moolah many times ,I think the best was in New York at Shea Stadium.
RIP Moolah
November 13, 2007
I never met Moolah, but when I heard of her death, I felt like a little piece of me died, too. I have watched her matches all of my life. My earliest memory is watching wrestling on our b&w TV with my father in the '50s, and he always used to point to Moolah and tell me that she was proof a woman could do anything a man could do, so long as she set her mind to it. Remembering that thought is why I am an engineer today. I just finished reading her auto-biograpy two weeks ago, and all I can say is how lucky I am to have had such a good, decent, talented and classy woman for a hero.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family. May her Memory be Eternal!

I have been a fan of wrestling for many years. I am from the old school of wrestling, When wrestlers were wrestlers. These people that are doing their thing in the ring today have a whole lot to learn. When women were women were in the times of Ms. Ellison, they knew their stuff and were not afraid to show you what they knew, that is if you still did not understand. May God bless her family and her friends who loved her and to her fans keep her alive by shouting moolah at each match. Moolah rest in peace girl you deserve it. Dear Ellison Family,

I can remember seeing "The Fabulous Moolah" wrestle when I was a teenager in the mid eighties. I loved watching the WWF on the USA network and the NWA on the superstation in Atlanta. I got so much enjoyment and entertainment watching these guys and girls and it really brings back fond memories of days gone by forever. I feel a connection and a loss whenever I hear of a wrestler's death. Especially, one like Lillian as well as Road Warrior Hawk and "Ravishing" Rick Rude that I watched with friends "back in the day". People like Lillian are a part of my youth and growing up that I will always remember. God Bless and Keep You Lillian!

I once worked with Ernie Roth and Beautiful Bobby promoting wrestling
for Vince McMahon. I met Lillian on several occasions, and I had dinner with her a few times. In fact, I still have a Christmas photo card that she sent me.
Lillian really had a talent to get the croud going. I am very disappointed that I didn't have a
chance to see her before she passed
away. God Bless you Lillian, and
although she may not be with us,
Jesus said, "When we die, life has
not ended, it's only changed,"

God Bless You,

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep;
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond’s glint on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn’s rain…
when you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight;
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry:
I am not there…I did not die.

November 07, 2007
The wrestling world and humanity lost a great lady. I was lucky to meet Moolah and Mae Young at a local wrestling event in the early to mid 90's. Knowing her character from TV I was a little scared to approach them, but darn sure glad I did. They were both very nice to me. I was floored when Moolah asked if I wanted to be a wrestler. I was close to 4 ft 6 at the time and had always been a wrestling fan, but never considered it. I'm ft. 7 1/2 now. I wish I would have because I know I could have gained a lot of experience from their wisdom. Moolah will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and fans.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

November 06, 2007
It was November, 1970. I was stationed at Ft Jackson, SC and sat beside the woman, who introduced herself as Lillian, on a bus trip from Charlotte, NC to Colombia, SC. We spoke for over two hours. During that time, she only wanted to know about me, my family and my feelings about every topic under the sun. She never once, until the end of the trip, mentioned who she was, or what she did. I was impressed. She listened intently and smiled graciously as she did so, and at the end of the trip, reached out for my hand as if to shake it, pulled me close and gave me a hug goodbye wishing me good luck. All the while, she never interjected her position on any of the topics of discussion. I was never a fan of pro wrestling, but I instantly became an admirer of her. She took time out of her trip home to be friendly to a US Army serviceman who was away from home, in a time when doing so was not a popular position. She has always remained in my thoughts for her kindness and sincere manner towards me. God Bless her and her family. Her goodwill will have certainly made her a place at his right hand.
November 06, 2007
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
November 06, 2007
Rest in peace. Wonderful childhood memories.
November 06, 2007

November 06, 2007
To The Entire Ellison Family;

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. You would be happy to know that Lillian provided me with great entertainement & joy both as a child and into adulthood. Watching wrestling back in the 70's and 80's was not the same unless The Fabulous Moolah made an appearance in some way. When my son became a fan in the 90's, he witnessed the character that made Lillian Ellison famous. Along with Mae Young they proceeded to entertain us weekly and for that my heart cannot express the sincere thanks it truly feels. I know Lillian is looking down now and she is smiling. Rest in Peace The Fabulous Moolah!!

God Bless,

Joe Lowry
Quincy, MA

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I have watched you for many years as my Grandparents, parents,my generation, my children and some of my grandchildren. It is unique in any public endeavor to be recognized and admired by so many for so many years. I am sure that you were a example to many women that you can be whatever you want to be and be successful if you choose to work at it. We watched and interview with you not so long ago and it was great to see someone that had come thru life and still had such a zest for life. God Bless you and yours, keep things straight up there in the better place...we all will miss hearing about you..later

When I was a little girl, whenever we had TV, we would watch the wrestling matches with my father. I recall Moolah, whom I have always known as "Slave Girl Moolah." I don't know if that was just a term I heard my father use or if that was the name she used at the time. I will always count Moolah among my fondest childhood memories. May she rest forever in peace.

November 05, 2007
Rest In Peace you were loved and will be missed. I do not care how women's wrestling goes from now on you were the greatest of them all.
November 05, 2007
Lillian was the consumate heel in professional wrestling. She and Ric Flair always set the standard on how to entertain a crowd with in-ring histrionics and antics. I watched her way back...when she entered as "Slave Girl Moolah." She was a tough lady who could entertain you and could really wrestle. No-one will ever be like the Fabulous Moolah...either in the ring or out. Along with Argentina Rocca and Buddy Rogers and Flair...they might rank as the only true legends in pro wrestling.
November 05, 2007
she was a great wrestler rest in piece

I'm just another one of thousands that grew up watcher wrestling as a child and hearing the name "Fabulous Moolah". I lived on the West Coast in the 50's-60's and when she came out west to wrestle, it was like a visit by royalty.

My sincere condolences to her family and personal friends.
November 05, 2007

November 05, 2007
To the Ellison Family,
May God give you comfort in your time of sadness. The "Fabulous Moolah" was a GREAT entertainer and wrestler.
November 05, 2007
Moolah, you were truly Fabulous in every sense of the word, inside and out.
November 05, 2007
Moolah was a true pioneer...I remembered watching her in the days when she appeared as "Slave Girl Moolah." The woman was a classic "heel" in the ring and the way she worked the crowds...making both men and women boo her mercilessly...should be required viewing for any wrestler hoping to make it in a sport where crowd reaction is a huge part of the overall occupation. Lillian and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair were the true pioneers of today's modern sports entertainment business...pro wrestling has lost a true legend.
November 05, 2007
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
