God Blees You
April 17, 2008
It is so difficult to think of you without tears. You were such a dear sweet man who had suffered so much in your life, yet you gave your life to save the students you loved. I remember talking about your time in Romania and Israel. You are my hero just for being you-an extraordinary man.
April 16, 2008
You had been a hero all of your life and you just proved it again on that tragic day, that we now remember on this first anniversary.

May you rest in God's eternal peace for all you suffered and sacrificed in laying down your life so that others might live.

God's blessings on you and your family.
April 16, 2008
I hope to continue to remember and remind others of Professor Librescu's sacrifice, not only this year and at this time, but for many years to come.
April 15, 2008
Saturday 4/19/2008, at sundown, Pasover begins. May I say to you I shall mention you in my prayers on this most holy night. To you and all the victims of this horrific crime against humanity, I wish that G_d will bring peace to your family on Pesach. SHALOM Sir!
March 31, 2008
I think that was very sweet and courageous of you to take your lives for your students to escape. I also think that it's pretty cool how you were a survivor of the holocaust, if I knew you I would have so many questions for you. For you to stand in front of the door the way you did was a heroic move, because any other teacher or professor wouldn't have done that for their stundents. Simply because there aren't alot of real teachers out there like you. Even though I don't know you I will say I love you and may God be with you.
October 27, 2007
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Mr. Librescu, a true hero. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. Shalom.
August 24, 2007
This man gave his life for his students. The word hero is often misused but this man was a hero. When my sons are old enough to understand this tragedy, I will tell them what Mr. Librescu did that day and how honored his life will always be.
August 19, 2007
I am pleased that Mr. Librescu took the time to save his students in the horrible massacre at Virginia Tech. I also appreciate his work as a scientist in helping his students understand the subject matter.Although his voice will no longer be heard, his sacrifice will live in the hearts in the men and women who knew him and those of us who read of his marvellous deed. Shalom.
August 08, 2007
Tonight I was thinking about your father. I am sure your hearts are still aching and i was thinking about what i would say to you. I was raised without ever knowing my father. Based on that i want to say this to you. Your father is a hero. I hold him in high esteem and would have loved to have been blessed with a father like him. I know there is pain in your heart but somewhere deep within you have to feel such pride just being associated with a great man who happened to be your father.

TO GIVE YOUR LIFE SO OTHERS CAN LIVE IS THE TRUE DEFANITION OF A HERO THATS WHAT MR LIBRESCU IS
July 11, 2007
To the family of Liviu Librescu, the Jewish Federation of Huntsville and North Alabama have made a donation to the Honor Flights in the name of Liviu Librescu. The honor flights send Veteran's of World War II to visit their memorial in Washington DC. We recognize their heroism as we recognize that of Liviu Librescu. A man who through his final act proved what human potential is capable of even after suffering the worst inhumanities that have ever been perpetrated against mankind. We will continue to recognize Liviu each year during Yom HaShoah here in Huntsville, Alabama.

Sincerely,
Laura King
President Jewish Federation of Huntsville and North Alabama

My heart goes out to the family and all who knew Professor Librescu.

For reasons both obvious and incomprehensible, the news of this tragic event affected me deeply. I mourn not only the loss of life, but the perception that the world is a safe place and a belief that there is a basic goodness to humanity which unites us all.

Yet the selfless actions of Professor Librescu offer some comfort. It gives me faith in my fellow man, and offers me hope in the possibility of a better tomorrow. For this, I thank him.

To this family, and all those involved in this tragedy, my prayers are with you.
June 12, 2007
I can tell by looking at his picture he was a wonderful, wonderful person. I wish him and his family much love, which he obviously demonstrated to others in this lifetime.
June 07, 2007
Blessings on Prof. Librescu for his braveness. He is truly a remarkable man; I only wish I had known him. May God grant peace and comfort to his family and friends. I continue to pray for all of you.

May 27, 2007
This man is a hero indeed.
He risked his life to save his students. What a remarkable man. Not to mention, he's a Holocaust survivor. He's my hero, as are the Troops in Iraq.

May he rest in peace.

You will never be forgotten!

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

May 14, 2007
This man is my hero. He has taught me more than anyone else ever has about true selflessness. My graduation speech is a tribute him. May g-d rest his soul in peace.
May 11, 2007
Every time I see this gentleman's photo and read of his sacrifice to save others, my eyes well up with tears. This extraordinary man was the definition of a hero, an angel among humans. God bless his soul, his spirit. May his family be comforted in knowing what an outstanding individual he was, a true fighter, the bravest of the brave, throughout his remarkable life. Although I never met him, I will never forget him. He is an inspiration, the likes of which is rarely seen in the world nowadays. His legacy of selflessness lives on. My prayers are offered to all whose hearts have been broken by his passing. God bless you and hold you in his loving arms. Peace.
May 09, 2007
You remind us that Love has no bounds.
Thank you,
Dr. Feather Sn'eagle
May 09, 2007
You are truly an amazing individual who proved that heroes still exist. When you gave your life so others can live, the world lost an angel. My thoughts and prayers go out to Liviu's friends and family during this difficult time.
May 08, 2007
It is a wonderful feeling to know that their are still people out there willing to give their lives for the sake of others. I'm currently writing an essay on Librescu for the simple fact that he was a Holocaust survivor. But the fact that he saved his students lives makes his story all the more amazing. You will truly be missed and you will always be remembered.
May 07, 2007
I am not a Virgina Tech student, but reading about Liviu Librescu's heroic acts has touched me so strongly. No one can say for sure what they would do in such a situation, but the fact that he so unselfishly protected others in the midst of danger speaks volumes about his character. The world mourns at the tragic loss of a great man. He will forever be remembered for his bravery. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
May 06, 2007
To Liviu's family and friends,
Our heavenly father Jehovah (Ps 83:18) promises at Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness". May you grasp hold of his hand and allow him to guide you through the coming days, weeks, months and years.
These additional scriptures will prove comforting:
Isaiah 25:8 - "he will actually swallow up death forever."
Revelation 21:4 - "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
Since the loss of my husband on 9/11, I have been greatly comforted by the word of God.
May 04, 2007
To the Librescu family, Remember O Lord, thy tender mercies & thy loving-kindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Psalm 25:6 God Bless!!!
May 04, 2007
WOW!!!!
I know that there are very many people who mourn Librescu's horrid death, but alls that you and everyone else can do is pry for the family of him, and remember all that he had accomplished in his 76 years of life. I have been doing some research on Librescu for a history project, we had to find a holocaust survivor or well write about anything on WWII, i found about this story and it really touched me... because not many people now and days will give their lives for the better of others.. I really thought that..wow acctually i am at a lost for words... He is a hero and he is rememberd!!!

To the Family of Liviu Librescu: In the midst of your sorrow and loss, you must feel a certain amount of pride for this dear man who did not think of himself in the midst of great danger, but thought his students. From all of the tributes that I have read, Professor Librescu must have been a very kind and loving man. As we have continued to search for answers in this hideous and sensless act, there just seems to be none. As you have experienced, a life can be taken from us so quickly, but the one thing that can't be snatched from you are the precious memories that you shared over the years as a family. May God bring you comfort as you continue to mourn the loss of your loved one.
May 01, 2007
A hero is what this gentleman was. How blessed this world was to have him in it. May his spirit endure forever.
May 01, 2007
What a brave, brave man! He will be remembered!
May 01, 2007
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the sparkle in the snow.
I am the shredded leaves that blow.
I am the sunlight on growing grain.
I am the gentle summer rain.
I am the quiet bird at night.
Circling about; Taking flight.
So do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
May 01, 2007
My sincere sympathy for family and friends of such a wonderful "hero"... He saved so many lives. God bless his family, and I am so sorry for your loss...
May 01, 2007
Your sweet face is a constant reminder of the angels that God sends as a sign of his love. You are a Hero, a true blessing to the world.
April 30, 2007
To the family of Liviu Librescu:
Please accept my condolences in the loss of a seemingly great man. The Bible urges us to "Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you." Psalm 55:22. May prayer help your family through this tragic event and to face the days ahead.
April 30, 2007
RISE UP SLOWLY, ANGEL

Rise up, slowly, Angel.
I cannot let you go.
Just drift softly midst the faces,
In sorrow now bent low.

Ease the searing anger,
Born in harsh unyielding truth
That Death could steal my loved one
From the glowing blush of youth.

Rise up slowly, Angel.
Do not leave me here alone,
Where the warmth of mortal essence
Lies replaced by cold, hard stone.

Speak to me in breezes
Whispered through the drying leaves,
And caress my brow with raindrops
Filtered by the sheltering trees.

Rise up slowly, Angel,
For I cannot hear the song
Which calls you through the shadows
Into the light beyond.

Wrap me in your downy cape
Of sunshine, warm with love,
And kiss a tear-stained mother's face
With moonlight from above.

Then wait for me at sunset,
Beside the lily pond,
And guide me safely homeward
To your world,which lies beyond.

Just spread your wings and take me
In reunion’s sweet embrace,
And we shall soar, together,
To a different time and place.
April 30, 2007
To The Family of Liviu Librescu-Please accept my deepest sympathy in you loss. Revelation 21:3,4 says: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Take comfort in God's word.
April 30, 2007
Out of all the stories from the Virginia Tech Massacres, nothing moved me more than the story of Professor Librescu. Those of you who were saved by Prof. Librescu should never forget him. Honor his memory. May you rest in peace, professor.
April 29, 2007
After reading the accounts Professor Liviu Librescu’s selfless heroism at Virginia Tech, I am led to the conclusion that Prof. Librescu is a gift from God.

Never having met this man of conviction, science and commitment, I am convinced his story is as compelling and exemplary as any I have ever envisioned.

To those who knew him, and to those who loved him... Peace...

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends... May God give you the strength that you need to get through the days ahead.
April 29, 2007
When there is a school emergency, I am usually comforted to hear teachers have stood in the line of fire. This man gave more..twice. This time he had a choice. HERO is inadequate, SAVIOR is closer to the man and his deed. This former teacher is prouder to have been one.
April 29, 2007
Sometimes in this life, there are angels who walk amongst us...God Bless the Librescu family.
April 28, 2007
I am sorry for the loss of this very special man. He is a hero. My sincere sympathies
April 28, 2007
reading the articles about you gave me chills because of what you did for those students at virgina tech just astonishes me. you havent lost faith in humanity even after the holocaust and youre heart was not cold to the suffering of others. that is amazing. youre simply amazing.
I hope you lived the kind of life you wanted to live and you are happy in wherever you are. Rest in Peace, Mr. Librescu.
April 28, 2007
May God be with you each day.
April 28, 2007
Many people, especially young people, use the word
"awesome" when the definition is not applicable. Professor Librescu is my idea of awesome! His love for life and his students was so great that he lay down his life for his students. He directed, protected and showed his students and the rest of the world he was a truly great man all the way. What an inspriation and marvel this beautiful person. My heart aches for his students, his family, friends, and colleagues. Truly an Angel of God with values an example to us all. Incredible person and it makes my heart ache for all who did not have the privilege of knowing him, sadder still we will not have this honor. However, he has left us all a legacy which is beyond description. We need to take note and never forget what he did for all of us! We never know in this life but what we might find ourselves befaced with similar situations. May we all think of the Professor and his heroic acts and never forget. May we also have his strength, bravery, courage, love, compassion for others and obvious lack of hesitation to lay down our own life just as he did for others if the time comes. Thank you, Professor, for enabling many of our brothers and sisters to have the continued gift of life. Continue your Mission and watch over us, please. Rest in peace, my precious Brother. You are the true definition of "awesome!"
April 27, 2007
My heart breaks for you, his family, left on earth. My trumpet blares to announce to the heavens that a true hero has arrived.

He was a Hero and I know he has a special place next to God in heaven. God Bless the family and May Liviu rest in Peace.
April 26, 2007
My prayers are with you and your family. You really are a true hero and a true angel.
April 26, 2007

To a Hero,

You have become a personal inspiration to me. God only knows how many children's lives you saved at VA Tech. You sacrificed yourself for others. Thank you
for giving the ultimate gift.

May your memory be eternal. God Rest your soul
April 26, 2007
I am very sorry for your loss. I have experienced losses both anticipated and unexpected. When I was fifteen years old in my first year in high school, my mother died of melanoma at age 54 in December 2004; we were anticipating the loss. As with me, I am sure your loss is emotionally stressful for you and your family.

Your grief may ebb and flow. It has been said that each of us has this well deep inside of us that can be filled to the brim with grief. Every time we cry, we empty out some of the well. But the well fills again. The level of sorrow in your well may lessen as time passes, but it will never run dry. There will always be birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and those days when the well seems to fill to its brim again. Allow yourself time to remember and mourn. It is part of your healing. Grief is a continuing journey.
April 26, 2007
When it counted he stood firm
Not giving into weakness with a squirm
He held his position not giving in
Protecting students like they were kin
Liviu Librescu often smiled and gave greeting
His life held every ounce of meaning
He was a husband and father
With two sons and not one daughter
He was well respected for being him
He was a fine beautiful rare gem
He had lived through one horrible ordeal
He was genuine to the core he was real
He’s a hero to one—hero to all
This professor who heeded hero’s call

WHAT A GREAT MAN.........WE SHOULD
ALL HOPE TO MEET SUCH A PERSON IN OUR LIFETIME. TO GIVE HIS LIFE TO SAVE THE LIVES OF SO MANY.....MAY THESE PEOPLE LIVE BY HIS EXAMPLE, WHAT A GREAT PLACE THIS WORLD WOULD BE. IT WILL BE HARD TO CARRY ON, BUT MAKE HIM PROUD OF YOU. TO HAVE USED THE WORD ''GREAT'' IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE HIM.

Sugar in the Sea
And they too were lifted up
As the promise always said
And the labels that belonged Are laid to rest and gone
And what happened in the glistening Was the gentle sweet relief
Now brilliant tiny stars On the gentle midnight reef
And thoughts and remembrances Like fire all a glow
Now imprints for our hearts to hold Of them that had to go
No solitude or singleness No searching for the calm
No tears and labors emptiness
No hatred to disarm
Desire and all restlessness
Now sugar in the sea
And so, my friend, we wait behind Till we can be so free
R.I.P. you will be missed...
April 25, 2007
To the wife and children of the Professor: I can only imagine the example you have had for a husband and for a Dad. Anyone who would lay down their life as your husband and father did has enabled you the epitome of an example and how we ALL should be. Just as I had come to wonder if anyone truly cares, my faith has been restored. How sad I feel that I did not meet this amazing man. I have heard and read nothing but wonderful words said about the Professor. Impeccable, European manner which put most of us in US to shame, his concern for others and dedication to his students and colleagues and friends. I hope an pray that your family will be able to heal from the hideous acts and senselessness of the loss of your loved one. I am deeply sorry and will think of this man every day for the rest of my life and think about the person I need to be...the person we all should be is like the example he has shown us so clearly. I can only imagine how grateful the students but most of all the parents of the students who were allowed to flee because of the love this man had for his students. He protected them with the ultimate price. Amazing man, amazing, forever a hero in our eyes and God's too. He continued to educate to the last second of his life and far beyond.

April 24, 2007
A man so willing to give in life - but yet in death he gave as well. He will be remembered for his sacrifice that day. Others lived in his place. They will not forget such an incredible man. Our prayers continue to be with the family. God will be glorified in this situation just as He has been in others similar.
April 24, 2007
It is so shocking what happened on that sorrowful day
In my prayers you will forever stay
Although we never met and I did not know you
This is a poem for you to say my adieu
It is a shame you can not be with us today
Due to everything that happened I am still in dismay
Now you are up in a better place
We will never forget your honor and grace
Please look over us, protect us from dangers
You are missed by your family and countless strangers
I wanted to let you know you are in the thoughts of many
Condolences and commiserations are aplenty
I bless your family hope they stay strong
In my thoughts they will always belong
I say to you and the other decease
I wish that you all rest in peace

April 24, 2007
To the Librescu Family,

Please accept my condolences on the tragic loss of your husband and father. I am forever amazed by his acts of courage and selflessness that he showed on that fateful morning. He acted as a true Father to the students in his classroom and was capable, in such a brief moment and without hesitation, to decide what was the right thing to do. He was granted life during the Holocaust and he granted it to others. May his students never forget his high sacrifice for them. Your family can be so proud - so incredibly proud of him! May God bless his soul.

I didnt know any of the people that passed, but this whole thing has gotten to me, alot. I am 15 years old and I'm a freshman at Crawford County High School in Roberta, GA. This tragedy has most definatley opened up the eyes of many people, even in other states far from Virginia. Even my school in this little town we know as Roberta are buckling down and making sure that our schools are safer. It has opened up my eyes to all the possiblities at schools, here in Georgia, Virginia, and all over the world also. My condolences go out to all the friends and family of the victims. I can't possibly begin to imagine what they must be going through. Stay strong, VT will pull through!

Professor Librescu,

It has been over a week since we lost you and to me, it is sad past crying. I never had the chance to know you, but a couple of my friends had that honor. I know that you should be in Hawaii today for an AIAA meeting where you were scheduled to present a paper and perhaps your wife would have been with you as well. It should have been a wonderful time.

You were so very brave and while your son is right, the teaching of aerodynamics is over, you will always be teaching us about heroism. Even you could probably never have taught me about aeroelasticity and structures, but you have taught me about the kind of person I want to be.

I hope your students never forget why they are alive and that they become the type of people (and engineers) that you would have wanted them to be.

My own father was an engineer and he used to say, only half-jokingly, that if you wanted something done right, ask an engineer! You evidently did many things right, not to mention the 246 publications in your resumme, 146 of which were journal papers.

I am not sure how it is possible to miss someone I never knew, but I miss you. You will always be one of my personal heroes. I believe your wife is right, that you are looking over your family from wherever you are.

You have my respect always.

Karen

Wow, a true hero! Giving his life for another... a true Angel of God! As you have suffered from so much, lived through the holocaust and then did so much with your life, you amaze me!

I pray that I can have someone remember me as such a hero. We all need someone like you in our lives! You have restored my faith in humanity where I have wondered if we were in danger and with others, would we give our lives for others.

Thank you Liviu! May God give you wings as big as they can span. May God give you the largest crown and the best room in Paradise!

Thank you for giving your life for your students! We will always remember your courage. We will never let the horror of the Holocaust be forgotten!

Our family went to Blacksburg last Saturday to mourn and chanced to meet Jesse, a young man in Liviu's class that morning who escaped through the window. Greater love has no man than this - that he lay down his life for his friends. Liviu's sacrifice delivered Jesse and others back into the arms of the living. Words cannot express the Virginia Tech family's gratitude to your family...Shalom.
April 23, 2007
It's so terrible that something like this can still happen in the year 2007...
You will forever be in the world their prayers, their thoughts, their heart!
April 23, 2007
I did not know you or your family. But I don’t believe there is a person in the world whose heart has not been touched by this tragedy. There is nothing in this life that brings us more sorrow than to lose loved ones in death. Even harder to bear is when the lives of loved ones are lost due to an unexpected tragedy. The shock can be overwhelming.
Be assured that God promises that he…”is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring us more peace of mind than the inspired words of… the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Take comfort and solace in the Bible's message as we all await the time when GOD…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)
April 23, 2007
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

April 22, 2007
When I read his amazing C.V., I was a bit intimidated--what an amazing, prolific, brilliant man. However, he was also just as unassuming, kindly and genuinely concerned for his students. He possessed a sort of radiance in which I've only seen in one other person: Elie Weisel. I believe those who experience that kind of suffering develop a deeper compassion for humanity--and it shows. Professor Librescu, I mourn for you, but I admire your stand. You lived your life with honor and you died with honor as well.

I miss you already. You touched my heart.

YOUR LOVED ONE REALLY FILLED MY HEART, RIGHT AWAY. I NEVER KNEW HIM, YET I AM VERY PROUD OF HIM. BEING A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR AND THEN GIVING HIS LIFE SO SOME OF HIS STUDENTS COULD GET AWAY? THAT ALLOWS HIM TO GO DOWN IN HISTORY, TWICE. MY COUSIN WAS KILLED IN A SENSLESS SHOOTING IN HIS HOME. I THINK I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR LOSS. I PRAY THAT WHEN YOU THINK OF YOUR HUSBAND OR FATHER, YOUR HEARTS FILL WITH HAPPINESS, JOY, AND GREAT MEMORIES. THEY WILL CARRY YOU THROUGH. MY PRAYERS FOR YOUR FAMILY WILL CONTINUE. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALL.

April 22, 2007
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

and know what it took to get through those years ..

That tragic morning you put your safety aside and did a couragous selfless act
saving young lives who will go on to remember this unforgetable day with a glimpse of hope and that deep down
"In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart". and you proved that to everyone that morning.

I used to think heros like Prof. Librescu usually existed only in fiction...I am reminded of another holocaust survivor, the gentleman who blew up the train in "Cassandra Crossing" so that others may live. The Prof has proven me wrong...his is a life well lived, to the highest possible standards of humanity. He gave his life so that others may live. Shalom Prof.

Sorrowful tears
well up in my eyes
For those who have fallen
like rain from the skies

Each life was so precious
so many are gone
May they shine now from Heaven
like a new morning dawn

I cannot make sense
of this tragic event
I offer my heart
and my prayers have been sent

Each one had a dream
Each one had a goal
Each one had a family
Each one has a soul

Life must go on
for loved ones so shattered
Reach to their hearts
and show them it mattered

For families so lost
For friends left to cope
I greive for their hearts
I pray for their hope

In memory of those who have fallen and for those left to grieve.
For those left injured in harms way...
I pray for peace and healing of your hearts.

To the family and friends of Liviu Librescu~I can not begin to even express how sorry I am for your loss. As time went on and the stories were coming out from the Virginia Tech students about what Prof. Librescu had done to save the lives of so many of his students my faith in mankind grew to a level that I thought I had lost. I have always believed that God put us on this earth to help one another and take care of each other. What other purpose could we possibly have? Too many people have lost that value and purpose. Liviu Librescu has shown all of us what true caring and love for others is all about. I thank him from my heart for taking care of and saving so many lives of young people who are just beginning the rest of their lives. God bless his family and friends and may his courage, bravery and love for his students help them in their healing.

To the the Librescu family,
People say there are no such thing as super heroes. This man, who lived in an era of the birth of heroes survived a hero of man's atrosities, and died a hero of atrosity. Know that a world sees beyond faith, beyond race, as this dear man did. He saw a chance to save future learned people. A teacher who taught us the same, and greatest lesson another famous Jewish man taught the world,"... no greater sacrifice is there than this, than to lay down your life for your friends."
I've followed the news on this man, all his achievements, I know the pride you have had for him in all he did for the greater good of mankind. You must be so proud that his final gift was his greatest legacy, that will transend all faiths, all creeds, and all earthly knowledge.

GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALL.

A true Hero in every sense of the word! A man who lived to die for others! May you rest in peace. Many years from now, it would be nice to be able to look back and see the impact on the world that the lives he saved have had! I bet the impact will be AMAZING!
April 20, 2007
I am the son of Survivors. I know of your bravery and love for others. My parents loved the very same way and they raised me with this same love. My parents and I would have done the same as you. I have dedicated my life to helping others. I know you and my parents are watching from above. America will live on from this horrific tragedy as will I keep you and the other victims in my heart forever.

Love you all,

Ralph J. Rubinek

May you be comforted at this difficult time.
April 20, 2007
Even in the deepest times of deepest shock and tragedy there are shafts of life and moments of selflessness. There are heroic behaviors by ordinary people. There are acts of sacrificial love that defy logic. That is the image of God in them whether they recognize it or not.

You are a true hero, Mr. Librescu. So many more students are alive today because of you. How cruel that such a wonderful person would have to come face to face with evil not once, but twice in a lifetime. As if the holocaust wasn't enough! May you rest in peace.

April 20, 2007

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To have such a man give his life for his students after all he had suffered himself when he was young. Dr. Librescu must have been a remarkable man to learn from and speak with. Such an example of a true selfless hero. I hope that someday I may met him in heaven and sit by his side if only for a moment. God bless you, comfort you, and be very proud of such a wonderful man, father and husband.

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

What an amazing man in every way, Brilliance, resilience, faith and fortitude. a stellar example to us all. The men and women for whom he sacrificed his life and gave his final hour learned in seconds this man was far more than a gifted educator. He gave you the most precious gift of all, your life. I know you will all make him very proud by continuing your education and becoming wonderful successes in your own life. I didn't know this obviously wonderful human being. I wish I had the privilege and honor to have known such a precious person. I am deeply saddened and sorry for your loss and the loss of all the student he will not have in the classroom. Always know his example is what we all should try to be and even in death, the imprint he has left on the lives of the general public who never heard of him until this week will be forever lasting, not just to me but all across the world to anyone who has read about the Professor. God bless you all and embrace you with HIs love forever and ever.
April 20, 2007

This is the true story of the resilience of man. Having suffered so much in his youth, he was willing to suffer again, for the good of other young people. The Nazis never killed his optimism. They enslaved his body but never broke his spirit. They never made him look out for himself first, and he proved he was willing to give all for the good of others. This man embodies the essence of all that is good in Judaism and in man. He never stopped trying to heal the world, first educating and then protecting others to his dying breath. May his memory be of abiding comfort to all. Though I never knew or heard of him before, I will mourn the rest of my days for this exemplar of the good in mankind.

May the lord bless and keep his family. May his memory be an inspiration to all.
April 19, 2007
what a giving person .just to think of the love he had for his students. today he is with GOD. his suffering is over, and his new life has just begun.

You lift up my heart in so many ways, only you who suffered at the hands of others could understand anothers' suffering and then of course to respond to that in such a selfless way. Thank you and may you and all the other victims rest in peace.

April 19, 2007
Dr Librescu placed himself directly in the path of death, and through his selfless act saved many lives. Through his heroic action his memory will live on. I realize that for his family this is small comfort, but I hope they gain some measure of comfort and well deserved pride, knowing what he did. I will never forget him. I pray that I could do the same if called upon.

April 19, 2007
My sixth graders have been learning about the Holocaust and find Liviu's murder to be so tragic. To have survived the horror of the Holocaust and then be killed protecting your students-what a hero to us all!
April 19, 2007
Finding comfort at such a time is not an easy task. This was a man who suffered at the hands of others and finally whose life was taken by another's hands. Despite the cruelty experienced during his life, he was obviously a man with a deep sense of what is right, of honor and of a responsibility to share knowledge and help promote the betterment of people around him. My prayers extend to his family and the students who were touched by his willingness to share his knowledge and wisdom. May all of you discover that hard-to-find comfort through God's healing and love. God bless you and him.
April 19, 2007
May God Bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you

May God's mercy keep your loved ones that you left behind patient and in the best of well-being.
April 19, 2007
In sympathy and sorrow. May god be with you.
April 19, 2007
My heart goes out to the family. Mr. Librescu inspired so many people over the years. This world is indeed a better place because of him.

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend." Quote from Shawshank Redemption
April 19, 2007
If there ever really was a hero, he was Liviu. He sounds like the kind of inspiration we all need. Such a loss. I wish all who knew him peace and understanding.

Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13.
I am in awe. Surely Liviu sits in Heaven with our Lord as we speak.
God bless.
April 19, 2007
Liviu, a gentleman, as my wife Silvia always used to say, an inspiring human being throughout his life and now in his death; a brilliant scientist with amazing creativity; a master in Mathematics, Science and Mechanics. Liviu, a former colleague, a friend, a fine human being we now miss so much.

Liviu sacrificed his own life so the young students could fulfill their potential, a wise man through life and at death. The sense of pain and loss is immense. We all miss Liviu so much already. Being a native Brazilian I can only express this feeling by “saudade”, a word which has no translation in any language but which expresses all about a sense of loss. Chico Buarque, a Brazilian composer, writer and poet described saudade as “Saudade is doing the room of a son who has already died” (Saudade é arrumar o quarto de um filho que já morreu.) Saudade! This is what it feels like.

I and my wife Silvia were fortunate enough to know Liviu, and his dear wife Marlena.
April 19, 2007
What a example of the human spirit. You did not hesitate and gave your life so that others may live. The world has loss a beautiful person. Peace be with you,my friend.

I never heard about you till this week. You were an extraordinary human being who lived an extraordinary life. You were a wonderful and amazing person. I pray for your family that they may never feel far away from you. Your life is an inspiration and lives on. God Bless you sir

Men like Liviu are rare, although I'd like to think, maybe not. They certainly are the ones who make us all better people.

May your family find peace and continue to live in his spirit of goodness.

April 18, 2007
Everytime I think of you I feel sad that you are no longer with us. You are such a hero and heaven is where you are. You showed such courage and strength and the people that you knew will always be touched in such a special way. You are like an angel, and the world will miss your presence. Thank-you for showing such kindness and such selflessness when you saved your entire class. YOU A TRUELY AN AMERICAN HERO!!!
April 18, 2007
This is a tragedy for all Americans. I know we are thousands of miles away, but we feel your grief and would take it from you if we could. Take one day at a time. It's not true that time will heal. I know that firsthand. But what will carry you is the grace of God and his love that he has for you. And, his strong hand that will gently lead and guide you each day if you trust him. Lean on him for he is strong as we our weak. We're praying for you all that you'll be strengthened and comforted with Gods peace.
April 18, 2007
I am truly humbled by this great man's sacrifice and can only aspire to have a small part of his courage and humanity. May God have pity on us all because love is the answer.

We, in this time, have little reason to believe in heroes. But if there is a definition for such a thing, this man fits it.
April 18, 2007
Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL - FOR YOUR ARE WITH ME. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER. (Psalm 23).

It takes a certain kind of person to give their lives for another. After hearing how Liviu was a Holocaust survivor, it did not suprise me a man like him would do something like he did. Never having met him, I know that the world was robbed of a kind and loving man.

Truly a mensch
April 18, 2007
Just hearing this story. I never seen some that is more deserving of the title hero. Someone that survives Hitler and the Death Camps that knows what death looks like. Then to see another massacre and stand in the enemies face and stop him from more innocent is more inspirtational than any hero real or made-up has ever done.
April 18, 2007
Our hearts go out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
April 18, 2007
You are a Hero for what you did
THANK YOU

As God provides, so does he reclaim his treasure from time to time. Just the other day, I watched another film about a different aspect of the Holocaust. He was obviously preserved, to be at this time and place, for a reason. But along the way, he at least got to be with you, live and breathe with you. Remember whatever precious thing he was able to impart. What joy you will have in being reunited one day! Blessings to you, Shalom!

His sacrifice will provide these students with a future full of promise.

April 18, 2007
My heart cries with you over the loss of such an incredibly strong & couragous human being, who taught his students, & now persons all over the world, that it is always worth the effort to try to survive... Now this heroic man has taught us by example that it is also worth doing to sacrifice oneself for others, especially when personal survival becomes impossible. He is a shining example of the triumphant nature & best of humanity in the face of senseless, undeserving, and indiscriminant violence. Those who knew him personally knew of his heroic nature & the strength of his character....now the rest of the world will know this. My heart grieves with his family. May you find some comfort in knowing he died as he lived; triumphant over evil...a shining & glorious light in the face of dark & twisted sickness. His legacy will live on, rippling outwards, not only in his surviving family members, but also in the lives of the students he was able to save by his sacrifice, their families & other people like me across our nation & the world. Professor Librescu was of the very best of humanity; the world is a better place because of his life, and now his death. May Peace be with his wife, and family.

April 18, 2007
To the family and all the loved ones and friends who mourn for his lost.

May God give you strength, peace and the hope you need in this time of sorrow.

His Journey's Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this life is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost,
and I know you loved him very much.

A great man with a great courage.

Farewell to a MAN among men
April 18, 2007
Liviu is being hailed a hero in this tragedy. I didn't have the opportunity to meet him, but it sounds to me like he was a man of faith and love who cared deeply for his fellow man despite witnessing first hand the hatred of man during the Holocaust.

"Greater love hath no man than this; that he would lay down his life for a friend". Liviu must have strongly believed these words from the Bible because he sacrificed himself to save all he could. His life on earth is now over, but I would like to think that Heaven is welcoming him with arms wide open and that he will be seated next to the Lord he served so well here.

He is indeed the gentleman, the scholor, the Martyr and the Saint. He taught in the college and left an indelible mark in the heart and souls of all those who saw him after. Some professor he is to lay down his own life for his students!

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

To the family of Liviu Librescu,

Out of such a horrible tragedy, your husband/father was a true hero. I am sure there is a special place in heaven for someone who suffered so much on this earth, but found the courage to protect children from a madman at the cost of his own life.

I am so sorry for the family to have to experience the loss of Mr. Librescu. Just a few weeks ago I watched a DVD documentary called "Paper Clips." I had it at home for awhile but only recently decided to watch it. The Paper Clips Project is a project by middle school students from the small southeastern Tennessee city of Whitwell who created a monument for the Holocaust victims in Nazi Germany. It started in 1998 as a simple 8th-grade project and evolved into a project gaining worldwide attention. At last count, over 30 million paper clips had been received, even though the class started out trying to collect "just" six million paper clips in honor of the memory of the six million Jewish people who died. The award-winning documentary film about the project was released in 2004. So to think that after all I learned and how inspiring this film was and now to have such a tragedy happen to an Holocaust survivor just makes me so sad. What an inspiration you were, Sir--to have died saving others. What a legacy. God Bless the family of this professor.
April 18, 2007
What you did for the students will be remembered by your couarge to protect your students. My thoughts are with your family and you will be missed.

Good job professor.
April 18, 2007
Liek thousands of you I have been extrmley disturbed by Monday's horrific incident. Many people my age dying in the prime of their live's. What I thought the most saddest though was of Mr. Liviu Librescu brave enough to survive a concentration camp, and put his life on the line trying to protext his student's from the intruder, my heart, goes out to his family.
April 18, 2007
I would like to thank Mr. Librescu for the heroism he showed during this horrific tragedy. I believe that God had a greater purpose for sparing his life during the horrors of the holocaust, we will really never truly know the terrors and pain you suffered during those months, possible years of your life. I pray now that all you suffered and saw is erased and you live in the perfect Utopia of God's love. In life you taught us the skills needed to achieve one's earthly needs and wants; in death you have taught (us all) that there is a greater good to which mankind has a purpose. I ask God to bless this good man's kind soul and his uniquely ultimate giving heart. Thank you for laying down your life for your fellow man. May we learn... God Bless you and your family and friends.
April 18, 2007
