A gracious and respectable person whose work has done so much to bring so much joy to many of us in these troubled times hard to deal with (2 Tim 3:1). Perhaps more will continue to have positive experiences from a wonderful work that has had an impactful contribution to life and its anxieties.
I had the good fortune to meet Mr. Auchincloss this past spring when he appeared as a witness for the prosecution at the Astor trial. He was so amusing as a witness and delightfully charming in our conversation afterwards when I shared with him how much I had enjoyed reading his novels. He appeared to be so vibrant that I was stunned to read about his death in the Times today. May you be comforted in having had the great fortune to have such a wonderful man as your father, brother and grandfather.
