As hard as it is to write something for Amy, I just feel empowered to. Its tough to imagine the terrifying situation she faced aboard AA 11. She did not die in vain. But Amys call to American Airlines management in which she described the bad men made her an unsung hero on 9/11.

My condolences to Amys loved ones and friends who miss her to this day.

Dear Mr and Mrs Sweeney..Amy's husband and children..a HAPPY mother's day to you..I know its a difficult day..thinking of mum is in heaven with all my friends..does not make it any easier..I do have an update for you..I spoke to my friend and music collaborator peter Hume last night for over 1 he..Peter explained that 4 months is not enough time to get musicians.singers and bands..he spoke to Melissa and she agrees its a great idea to honor our family and friends with a brilliant dedication of music to celebrate our families..Peter said it takes 1-2 years to organize a venue with singers bands and music..they thought the 20th anniversary would be a special time..I said what about next year..I actually said I would like it now..well in the music industry you have to plan so far in advance..singers tour or the have gigs in cities and commitment to honor..I did not even think of that..I am planning on being in NYC on September 11 2019 as planned..I am not sure of the dates yet..captain Beverley is in Sydney Australia right now for rehearsals for come from away..she will be there for at least another month or less..I am in communication with her..I also spoke to tony at the 9/11 museum on Friday..I just spoke to Jennifer at our APFA union..I know our president Lori is going to be in NYC for 2019..I plan on seeing come from away with Beverley and I know she would love our family of flight 11 to be there too..she will only be there on September 10 2019 commitment in DFW on September 11 2019..while I am in NYC I will speak with my Broadway producer's who are my friends..the jazz foundation of NYC which I belong to can probably get a venue for us..they always have their musical galas at the Apollo theatre..which is a GRAND stage..I will continue my journey to honor my friends and family..any will not ever be forgotten nor our crewmembers or the first responders.firefighters.DCA..shanksville PA..we will have our celebration of music just not 2019..I was not happy about that as I said..flight attendants have to act quickly..not waiting a year to plan something..I am in the DFW area right phone number is 617-369-2444..I hope to see you in NYC..will update when I have more news..god bless..we all miss Charlene flight attendant American airlines BOS Logan international airport BOS Massachusetts

Dear Ms. "Amy" Sweeney,

I never got to know you in person either. But I'm sure you're in heaven at God's side looking down at the world, wondering what has become of it.
I'm sure we would have gotten along well with each other if I had known you. A crime took your life about which up to this date everybody is still in a major shock. It is incomprehensible up to today although it happened already 15 years ago.

R.I.P. Ms. Sweeney you're always in the prayers.
March 01, 2016
I never got to know you. Although im sure you knew that I exist, i never really hit me till now so many years later, at how amazing you really were for what you did, when you made the call. You make me proud to be a Sweeney. ... :)

Sincerely cousin Michelle Sweeney.

I was only 3 years old on September 11, 2001 - around the age of her kids. I was in preschool when it happened, and although I grew up knowing and hearing a lot about 9/11 I never really researched it, I really just viewed it as a piece of history and have always been scared to go on a plane. I'm 17 now about to be 18 in a few months and these past few weeks I have been immensely interested in 9/11 and have seen probably every 9/11 documentary and story out there. For some reason, Amy's story has stuck with me the most. I have cried so many times, not even personally knowing her or her family. My first airplane ride was a few months ago, I flew out of Tampa, FL and had a connecting flight from JFK in NY to Killarney, Ireland for an educational tour in Europe. When we left Heathrow airport in London, my friend and I went to the bathroom in the back and one of the flight attendants started talking to us. We talked about so many things and while everyone was asleep on the plane, my friend and I met most of the flight attendants and they let us hang out with them in the back of the plane. They told us their personal stories, where they're from, their favorite places, and from what I've read about Amy she was so sweet, caring, kind and probably would have connected and shared personal stories with the people she had flown with. She seemed like a fun person, I would have loved to have met her. She was SO beautiful, brave, and a true hero. She was so calm that morning on the phone I don't think I would have been as strong and content as her. I can't believe such a beautiful life was taken, may you rest in peace Amy and I hope to meet you some day. She is my hero and I'm still watching documentaries and thinking of her and her family. RIP.

painters of the orthodox church called iconographers produce in every way the divine nature glorifying THAT HUMAN PERSON. The goal is to paint a picture of a saint emphasizing their holiness rather than their humanity. What comes to life is the permanent value of the person and unchangeable essence of their existence. Madeline's picture is as close to an icon painting of a holy saint as a normal picture can get, raising the viewers attitude towards gods love. IT IS REMARKABLE. Madelines picture reveals Gods light and love. God is found by the beholder when gods very reflection is in the center of the dry desert. It is Madeline's gift to us al.

Dear Sweeney Family, Today I watched the 9/11 Tribute and thought of your family. Mike, your daughter gave a beautiful speech and what a tribute to your wife and your family. I know your brother Bob from BC Hockey and enjoyed those days talking with your mom and dad. This is a day that I automatically think of how lucky we are to be Americans and the bravery that Amy showed on 9/11 is something special that you will hold on too forever.

July 19, 2013
I am so sorry!
May 08, 2013
I just watched a documentary on YouTube called "The last hour of flight 11". It was so emotional, and even though I was only a sophomore in HS at the time, I am a flight attendant today. I have done sooooo much research on each aircraft, the number of crew, the youngest crew, who was called in on reserve 2 hours prior, etc....I wanted to know it all. The way this documentary played...I honestly believe that morning is really how those heroes acted upon. Amy and Betty were so brave and calm during their calls to the ground. I will always think of them and of course all the crew as heroes today. You will never be forgotten Amy.
February 26, 2013
Our dearest Amy. Not a day goes by that you are not missed in our family. Your legacy will always be that of our hero, our sweet sister, cousin, niece, daughter, wife and mother. Your unselfish acts were not limited to that tragic day...they were exhibited so many times, on so many days. There's a big hole in our family where you used to be, and we miss you desperately.

its been ten long years since that horrible day. i never really payed much attention to the names of the flight crews until i myself married a flight attendant.reading about amy volunteering for another trip struck a serious chord in my soul. i cant tell you how many times my wife does the same thing and it never occurred to me that decision could be a fatefull one like yours.i now have alot of respect for all of those gals and guys now that fly everyday trying to get people to their destinations, never knowing if some murderous maniacs have decided to highjack and down their plane. amy was cool under fire and professional to the bitter end. she was a very beautiful woman and is an inspiration to me and countless others that fly or have family that fly for a living. her last words chill me to the bone and i can only hope that she did not suffer and that god is holding her now in his hands. god bless your whole family and i truly feel part of that family because no matter what airline you work for the job is the same and on that awful day amy was truly a heroe if there every was one. may god bless and comfort all of the airline employees and their families that lost their heart and soul on 9/11/01. my wife looks like amy and does the same job and that is why i felt compelled to write this. again god bless your whole family amy!!!!!!!

As I look at my own 4 year old daughter my heart aches for your children who you were forced to leave far too soon. I cannot imagine how unbearable it must have been to realise you would not see them again in this life...I am so sorry and so sad at the loss that was forced upon you all. Sleep sweetly and in peace. A true American hero who did her best to help those on AA flight 11. May she forever rest in peace. Her courage, strength, and determination is a symbol of American patriotism and values. She will always be remembered as a ray of hope and pride that emerged from the sadness of that tragic day.

This day HAS EVER BEEN CHANGED FOR ME. Although I did not know Amy personally, I remember her and all who perished on 9-11-01. I worked retail on the north shore at that time and many of my customers, who I did not know intimately, but personally, perished on that day. My heart still aches for everyone whose life was profoundly changed on this day. I hope you have been able to move on, but never forget.

It is heart-rendering to know (watching the Discovery Documentary) that the mother of two did not failing her call of duty, despite the fact she was staring death in the face.

It is people like her who defeat the basis of such senseless attacks. The loss that her family, specially her children face can never be replaced by words. She has left behind something that her children will be very proud of some day in future. I know I am as a mother, a woman, a professional and a peace loving human being. May she and all the brave souls rest in peace.

Were studing 9/11 heros in school and i chose Madeline Sweeney cause i read ur deal and i just had to pick u and i wanna thank u for ue bravory <3 love courtneyyy
September 20, 2009
Hard to believe it's been eight years. I hope our nation will never forget the bravery demonstrated by heros like Amy. She was truly an angel in every sense of the word. Heaven is certainly a much better place with her presence. I don't fly very often these days but when I do if I see a flight attendent having a bad day I try to do what I can to make sure I brighten their day a little and to show my appreciation for all they do. My continued prayers go out to Amy's family and friends, esp. the two children and her husband. God bless and keep you all.
September 15, 2009
I envy your composure on that day. Your life was worth more than mine is now. Yet I live and you do not. One cannot look for justice in this world and I hope that if you are anywhere, you are being rewarded handsomely.
September 12, 2009
Although eight years have passed since that horrific day, it seems like yesterday that we heard Amy relay to American Airlines pertinent information with grace and an amazing calmness about her. The information that she provided was invaluable in assisting the airline industry to figure out that these were highjackings much sooner than may have been done. I don't know if I could have had my wits about me if I were in Amy's shoes that day. My sympathies to her family. Amy was a gem that will be sorely missed.
September 11, 2009
I will never forget hearing the story of this brave woman and her heroism. God Bless her and her familty

September 11, 2009
Our hearts go out to the Sweeney Family on this anniversary....Amy was a treasure and will always be missed!!
September 11, 2009
I had the pleasure of going to high school and onto college with Amy. She was always so sweet and had a smile that could light up a room. I think of her so often and realize I am blessed to have known such a wonderful person.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family especially her children whom where so young when they lost their mother. Eight years later and I still get a bit emotional when I think about the tragedy that took away hero's like Amy and so many others. May God Bless them All.
September 11, 2009
You and Betty Ong are the hero's and the Angel's of flight 11.
I hope that you are with other Angels.
My thoughts are with your husband and your kids today. I know you are watching over them.

Most indelible and inspiring in the coverage of Sept. 11th were the Boston Globe’s image of Amy Sweeney and their report of her incredible grace and humanity on that day. Then, her name lept out among those names scrolled to the heavens so tragically and magnificently during U2’s half-time performance at the following Super Bowl. She lives on in the hearts of those whom she never met. I wish her family the best.

I never knew Amy personally, but when i go down to Orlando Florida, i usually fly out of Boston. That morning I was on a flight down to Florida via Chicago O'Hare with United Airlines. The gate from which my plane left from bound for Chicago was gate number C-20 the gate right next to where flight 175 left that morning. for the past 7 years i have done projects on this subject for high school and now that im in my final year of college, im doing this project one more time. I know that you and Betty, along with Jean, Dianne, Jeff, Sara and Kathy and for the flight crew on 175 including Mr Fangman, Ms Jarrett, Ms King, Ms LaBorie, Ms Titus, Mr Marchand and Mr tarrou. will be the prime topic. thank you for everything you were one amazing here and my heart still lives at logan airport along with my cousins who work as American And United Flight attendants and are based out of there, they all miss you deeply, but they thank you for your sacrifice courage and braveness of that terrible or should i say fateful morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001. RIP

Thinking of you today
September 09, 2008
I think of you often and my heart aches for your husband and children. You were always so fun to fly with, and such a gentle spirit. I hope that where ever you are, you are able to see your children and watch them grow. Thank you for all you did on September 11th; none of your coworkers will ever forget! Blessings to your family during this mournful period.
September 09, 2008
I will never forget September 11, 2001. It is with me all the time. I grew up in Philadelphia, right by the airport. I was always so used to seeing planes fly low over my home, hearing their boisterous sounds, feeling their vibrations. It was customary where I lived. I was never a fan of flying, but I did a few times. Because of 9/11, I do not think I ever will. It TERRIFIES me. I look at planes completely different. Instead, I see all the victims on 9/11 and I still cry. I watch the documentaries every year, and read so much online. I pray constantly for all of the victims, their families, the firefighters and cops, and of course, our troops still fighting today. I will never forget – this day is still so fresh in my mind. Please know that your loved one will never be beyond my heart. I read Amy’s story, look at her pretty face, and realize she was just two years older than me today. I am young and have so much to do in this world. It makes me filled with so many mixed emotions to know a life so young was taken away from Amy and her beloved family. You will always be in my prayers. God Bless You.
September 07, 2008
I grew up in Boxboro and West Acton but I don't think even that could intensify my emotions at Amy's story and her heroic act almost 7 years ago. I wish I could comfort her children, but I'm sure Mike, the Sweeney and Todd families do everything they can. My heart will always hurt for all of us, especially those left behind without their loved ones.
God Bless and stay strong. <3

My Dearest Step Sister:
This month I finally saw for the first time, ground zero, even if only through the window of a tour bus. A school trip with my daughter who was too young to remember you has reopened the anger and hurt. I have shared with her your story and history as it will be told forever about this grievous event on our countrys darkest day. I see time and again that the world knows what a treasure it lost in you . Our hearts are forever heavy over the loss so harshley suffered by all who love you. I try to remember to bring a little more fun and beauty to every day just as you always did. I am never going to be able to accept that a life so beautiful can be so visciously taken.
All my love to you and all who love you Amy.

Dear Sweeney family,
I am sorry for your loss of Amy!
I have heard good things about her!
I watched the movie United 93 and i heard she called in and said " my plane has been hijacked" We are in rapid decent"! Those words so chilling to hear but the thought that she tried to save people is outstanding.
we will miss everyone on 9-11-01 and although i am only 13 years old i remember that day quite well!
i saw those towers fall. United 93 crash,American 77 crash, and flight 11 from boston leave a big whole in the tower!

January 03, 2007
To Mike Sweeney and children,
I have often thought of your wife/mom and what a brave hero she was in the face of such unfair, unexpected, undeserved tragedy. I'm not sure if you remember hearing from us way back when, amongst all the activity from that time, and you don't know me or any of those who felt so sad for your loss. I still work at the school where we decided to 'adopt' a family (your family) and send well wishes your way, along with a cash donation for your family to do something fun. We sold "Proud to be an American" T-shirts and had an outstanding fundraiser. I hope that you are all doing well and wanted to let you know that even after all this time, parents, kids and my coworkers have not forgotten your family, and still send prayers of happiness your way. We wish you the best always and hope that each New Year brings a little more healing, and strength in knowing your wife/mom will never be forgotten, even by total strangers who were awed by her courage.

Amy's bravery on 9/11/01 has become the focus for my personal remembering of that day. I hear the recording of her voice, I see the first photos of her. I think of you, her family, living in Acton so close to my home in Lexington. She embodies such grace in patriotism. She is indeed the ultimate role model for us all. Thank you, Amy, we are always remembering you.

I was just thinking about you Amy and your husband Mike today. You were a wonderful person and Mike, I hope that you and your kids are doing well.
September 11, 2006
Years will pass, young will grow old. Our country will recover and face new challenges. But in all challenges we may ever face, and in the prosperity we enjoy, let us never forget what has happened. I will never forget you
September 11, 2006
I saw the special last night on CBS and was touched by the story of Amy Sweeney and Betty Ong. They were so brave and strong and I'm sure they and the other crew members were the reason for such calm on the aircraft.

I am the mother of 3 very young and beautiful children. I can't imagine the pain your family must live with everyday. May the God of all comfort be with you today as the world remembers Amy, wife to a wonderful husband and mother of 2 beautiful children.

And thank you to every flight attendant who serves. We appreciate all that you do.

Amy is not only in your past, but she's in your future.

September 11, 2006
As time goes by, it is of the utmost importance that we remember and honor the courage of Madeline “Amy” Sweeney. In a horrifying situation, Amy displayed bravery and quick thinking of an extraordinary magnitude. She altruistically put herself in grave peril in an effort to facilitate the flow of information pertaining to the events transpiring around her that day. By doing so, Amy offered the nation the first glimpse of concrete information about the attackers who perpetrated this tragic act of evil.

I never had the privilege of meeting Amy, however, by all accounts, the fortitude that Amy
displayed on 9/11 was not new. It has been reported that Amy was a loving mother, a faithful wife and a dedicated employee. Based on reading posts from those who knew Amy, she was reportedly a fun-loving friend. While attending to her duties as a flight attendant, she was perceived as hard-working and was appreciate by both co-workers and passengers alike.

It is incumbent on all to never forget the heroism of Amy and all those who were lost on 9/11. In
this regard, we owe Amy and her family a debt of gratitude. May God Bless Amy and her family.

With respect,

Jesse D. Lambert
September 11, 2006
Although I've never met Amy, she sounds very brave. I read her profile for an English assignment for 9/11's anniversary. It is hard to loose someone close. I give my sympathey to her family.
September 10, 2006
My thought are with Amy's family on this, the fifth anniversary.

I met Amy in fifth grade, New Searles Elementary in Nashua, NH.
We were in Mrs. Poppers class.

My memories of Amy were how happy and helpful she was to everyone she met. That left a lasting impression on me.

We never became close friends in years to come, but you could always count on a friendly smile or a cheerful wave when passing.

If you look hard enough - you can still see her waving with a bright smile too.

May God bless you and keep your family close.

Keep smiling, Amy - Until we see you again.
September 10, 2006
you are the true hero. may god's blessings be with you.
September 10, 2006

We love and miss you so much. You were extremely brave and I and the entire country are so proud of you. You will always be remembered for your warm personality and caring smile. What you did was amazing and we will never ever forget you. Rest in peace.
September 10, 2006
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
September 09, 2006
God bless Ms. Sweeney's family. They should feel proud to have had such a brave mommy. It is very sad what happened that terrible day. May Ms. Sweeney be in a much better place watching and taking care of all of you.
September 09, 2006
I'm doing an English paper on Amy and I admire her courage to call ground control. I know that I probably would not have been as courageous as her. She seemed like a very fun person, who wouldn't I mind meeting. I send my condolences to her husband and two children.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

August 11, 2006

May 23, 2006
To Mike and Amy's family,
Though its been 4 1/2 yrs since 9/11 and Amys act of heroism-it is obvious that no one will forget her-even those that didn't have the pleasure of meeting her. Fortunately, for my husband and myself - we had the pleasure!
The other day I was reminiscing with a picture collage that I made for my husbands 40th bday last year of all our friends and adventures, and there was a picture of us with Amy, Mike, his sister and Wayne and I smiled.
My husband and I are from W.Ma area and oddly did not meet Amy in our travels through Mass, but instead, in Austria 1993 (before Mike and Amy were even married) while my husband and I were on our honeymoon. We had the pleasure of staying in the same hotel and had MANY laughs. We knew then that Amy was an extremely special person - but little did we know the impact she would have on our Country in years to come.
My husband and I were obviously watching all the news broadcasts during that devistating time and as soon as we heard Amys name - we knew right away of exactly whom they were speaking of and were immediately sadden tremendously!! We were, still are, and always will be very sad about the loss of such a beautiful person inside and out. We think of Amy and Mike everyday, regardless that we met them over 13 years ago and never saw them again. Even then, Amy gave us a lasting impression. Thank you, AMY!
Our sincerest sympathies to Mike, the children and all of Amys family.
I have "attempted" to place a picture into the photo gallery.

Dear Mrs Ong's Family:

I recently visited NYC and where the twin towers used to be. It was a very surreal feeling being there. I personally felt the pain and horror of that day again standing there. I can only imagine what you, as her family went through.

I am so proud of Mrs. Sweeney, in the face of adversity she stepped up and was a hero. She was one of the first to fight back against these cowardly terrorists.

In reading scripture, Heaven is a grand place with streets of gold and abounding joy and peace. I think on that fateful day in September of 2001, a saint was welcomed home with a parade for a HERO, and that she is. She had angels with her cheering her on as she entered Heaven. On that day, Heaven got a little bit better. I look forward to meeting her in the future.

May God Bless,
Todd O'Neal

dear amy, i live in england and when i heard about the attacks on 9/11 i was struck with emotion. i started reading up on the attacks to try and make some sence of it all and i found out about you. i just wanted to say that you showed great courage and heroisem on that day when you called the ground staff at the airport, even though it was to be your last call. when i heard your story i started thinking to my self that i wouldnt be able to do anything like that, as i would be to scared, you are in-deed a remarkable woman and i pray that you are at rest. thank you for giving the usa and the rest of the world the knowledge of who did that terrible thing on 9/11, as if it wasnt for you we would not of known who and why they did it. i hope you rest in peace, not only will you be remembered by the usa, but by the rest of the world.

I knew Amy, I grew up down the street from her and played hockey with her brother Billy. I'll tell you all what kind of person Amy was. When I was in Junior High, (7th grade I believe and she was in 9th) I had just got glasses. When I walked down to the bus stop for school my male friends were giving me a hard time calling me names and what not. I was just about to take the glasses off when Amy said "Michael I think you look great in those glasses"

Well all of a sudden I wasn't getting pick on anymore becasue of what Amy said.

Thats the type of person she was and its no surprise to me that she was a hero on 9-11. She was always looking out for other people.

Dear God,what a woman. I fell in love with her as depicted in A&E's movie.I will never forget what happened to her and all the other people that died that day. Her Birthday is the same as mineand that makes it more meaningful.God be with you and your children, always.
February 01, 2006
God Bless you and your family. You make America proud. I hope your children realize how lucky they are to have had you for a mother, but I am sure they do. Thanks for your bravery.

I am at a loss for words. I don't think I ever really looked into the story of the Flight Attendents on AA11. I just finished watching A & E's story of what the Last Hour of Flight 11, that crashed intot he North Tower of the World Trade Centers, was like... and I am completely speechless with tears running down my face. Amy did so much for that flight and that day. She did alot for this country, including having the terrorist's names and seat number's immediately after the attacks began. She gave moment by moment details as to what was going on. Even though I did not know her... I have to say Wow. What an incredibly brave woman she was. She helped keep passengers calm and in control, along with the other attendants... She's Amazing. Amy... Thank's for laying your life on the line for this country. Being a flight attendant isn't the safest job in the world and anything could happen. But thank you for your bravery. I am sure that you have made your family proud. I know that I am proud. God Bless You and your family and my you rest in preace.

I never met mrs. sweeney but i know what she did as do many other americans. I just wanted to express my deepest condolences to amys family and wanted to let them know that amys life was not a waste, but rather an accomplishment in fighting the war on terrorism. I took the honor in nameing my new born kitten sweeney because i wanted my kitten to be named after an american hero. Rest in peace amy

I had the honor of winning the "Amy Sweeney" award when I graduated from Nashua High School, which is the same High School Amy graduated from. I had the pleasure of meeting her mother and closest friends. My life has forever changed after winning that award, and I can honestly say there is not a day that goes by that I do not think about Amy and how much her loved ones miss her. My heart truly goes out. Rest in peace Amy. <3

I just finished watching "The Last Hour of Flight 11". I am overcome with sadness at the loss of such a heroic human being. The composure you showed in such a dangerous and difficult situation is so admirable.

As a mother, having left your children behind must have been your greatest horror. I am glad we have the information we have to show them what their mother was and is, a hero.

God Bless the family of Amy Sweeney.

I am a seventh grade teacher and I have made sure that my students remember how important 9/11/2001 is to this country by listing every name of those heroes that perished on that dreadful day on my classroom walls. People like Amy and those so many others who perished that day will always be in our hearts, memories and prayers. God has them within his arms now and they will no longer suffer. They are protected and loved so powerfully with him now. And one day, we will be able to walk into their arms and our hearts will be light and once again free.

God Bless!

To the Family of "AMY":
On this day 3 yrs ago, an angel was called back to Heaven. Amy is truly missed by her family and friends. In the short time that my co-worker Maggie and I (United Way of CT) were able to work with the family, I could tell how much Amy meant.

My deepest sympathy,

Dearest Amy,
You remain an inspiration and a model for all of us. I was at home across the river facing the WTC on that horrible day and I never felt so sad, powerless and lost. Your loved-ones know that we do not forget you. You accompany us when bravery and honor are our guides.
God bless you.

Michael and family

I am sorry to say, that today was the first time I learned of your wife, Amy, and the calmness and bravery she displayed on 9/11.

Her Flight #11 crashed into 1-WTC, the tower in which my 23-year old daughter, Meredith, was employed on the 93rd floor.

I know your heartbreak, also, and wish to send my sympathy to you, your two young children and your family.

Please know that I pray for you in your struggle to work through your grief, also. Take comfort in the knowledge that your Amy, my daughter, and all of the victims are now God's angels watching over us all.

May God's love sustain and comfort you in your grief.

I couldn't believe that the woman that I remember you proposing to just only a few months before I moved to Charleston, SC, is gone. Mike, I'm not sure if you remember me or not, but we were stationed together in Earle, NJ at SIMA NY DET. Over 11 years ago. Mike, I remember so many memories of watching you while on lunch break taking time to write poems into dog tags to give to Amy. I thought that was the sweetest gift any man could ever give. I think of you and your family every day, wondering how you are, whats going on with your life. I have your address, I have just got to find it again. I am wanting to reach you along with several of your friends who you were stationed with. We all pray that your days become stronger, and that your children are safe. Mike, god bless you and your family.

To the Sweeney Family,

It has been 2 years since that horrible assault on our country, but more importantly,it has been 2 years since many of our beloved citizens were taken,Amy,without being aware of it that morning, you were one of our first "warriors" in the war on terror,,,your courage is now evident to all,God Bless you Amy,your family and friends are in my prayers, now and forever!

I'm 12 years old and I live in Acton. In school we are asked to do a project on someone we admire. I chose Mrs. Sweeney. She inspires me to be strong, no matter what is happening. It was a sad day in Acton the day she died, and even though I never met her, I'm sure she was a WONDERFUL woman. Thank you. God Bless You Amy.
September 11, 2003

As a father of three, I cannot put to words the respect that I have for you. I have met you a few times at Crossroads through "Dice" Keith. I was fortunate to go back to your condo last year the night before Thanksgiving to have a few beers with you, Dice, Wayno your brother Bob and a few more of your friends. Clearly, you have a great family and group of friends, but at times it must be so hard to carry on.

I am sure that you are comforted by the fact that your wife is a hero, and shall be forevermore. In turn, you are a hero for having the strength and courage to carry on and provide a wonderful life for your kids.

Of all the coverage on the 9/11 attacks, somehow I missed the heroic actions of Amy Sweeney. It was only the Showtime "documentary" I viewed just last night that brought her to the forefront. On the second anniversary, if you want to call it that, I will remember her as she was highly instrumental in many ways. God Bless her and her family. 9/9/03

I send my condolences to all of Amy's family. I send to her husband this message of hope, remember the good times and live on reminding your children the legacy that their mother had left. My thoughts and prayers are for you and I want you to believe in Our heavenly father and I know that you will see Amy again. I did not know Amy, but looking at the victims list her name grabbed me because we were the same age and born on the same day. My birthday will now mean something more, other than the day that I was blessed with life, my thoughts will be for Amy because I can say that I was born on the same day as a hero and a legacy in this life. May God bless and strengthen each of you everyday.

Amy was the neighbor I never met. Perhaps I passed her walking down the street with her children or maybe pulled up beside her at a red light. Maybe I was behind her in line at the supermarket one day or slowed down behind her as she pulled into her driveway. At any rate I never had the privilege of truly meeting this wonderful soul. Everytime I am in my home in Acton I feel safe knowing that we have an angel looking over our wonderful town. Everytime I see the sun shine here I know it is Amy warming the hearts of her beautiful children. Thank you Amy for shining down on us and may god bless you and your family.

There I was working the night shift at ground zero and thinking that although I was now ankle deep in the recovery, I had escaped any loss. Then I heard from my mom that my Aunt and Uncle (the Hardin's) best friends daughter-in-law was both a victim and a hero! Such a small world. So much pain.
Now over a year later, I'm still working at ground zero restoring the city's infrastructure and only wishing it could be so easy to restore the infrastructure of all the family's. I hope, as the city is healing it's wound, that you and your family also rebuild and come back strong and full of life.
Your daughter/wife/mother is an inspiration to me and so many others. Revel in her strength.
November 24, 2002
EPTs just were not the same without you this year. Your memory is forever pressed on our grieving hearts. Soar high sweet angel. Until we meet again at Heaven's gates...

An Angel Of The Sky She was a angel of the sky's before she died, severing others as they fly. She brought joy and comfort to all that she touched. She was brave in ways that angel's are, for calling and warning of terror in the sky's. God has called this angel back, and for now she looks down, watching and protecting her loved ones on the ground. Don't weap for the loss for you will soon reunite, as she is waiting in heaven on that forever flight. Dear family of "Amy" I wish to convey my deepest sympothy for your loss. I know what it is to lose a loved one, but be asurred she is watching over you and with you each day. Her love and memories are in your heart to stay. With that I hope my poem brings joy for this I dedicate it to Madeline.

Dearest Michael and children,

My love and prayers are with you every day. Although we are separated by miles, I feel as if I know each of you. I am friends with the Shaws and because of their love for you and my love for the Shaw's, I have come to know you over the past year even if only in thought and prayer. I, too, was a flight attendant, with Continental though, not American. When I think how Amy faced her final moments on this earth and reached out with such bravery and courage in an effort to prevent further loss of lives, I am touched by the magnitude of what she did ... she lost her life so that others might live. God Bless her and God Bless each of you. May God's Peace Be With You.

I have been an American Airlines Flight Attendant for 33 years, 23 of those years were spent Flying out of Boston. I knew several of the Crew members on board that day but I never had the pleasure of meeting Amy. When ever I think about September 11th, which is very often, I think about Amy and her incredible ability to remain calm and think on her feet under completely unbelievable circumstances. I have placed myself in those circumstances in my mind and I don't know that I would have been able to do the same thing. She is my hero and I pray for her beautiful children, husband and family daily. God Bless you all.

I was brought to amys guest book by accident as i had typed in my friends name. I am mouring the loss of a best friend and her children after a tragic car accident took their lifes and spared her husbands. My heart goes out to all of amys family and friends and to all of the families who lost a loved one in such a sensless act. Again i pray for all of the people who lost someone close to them and i pray for all the children who now are now left without a mother or a father. This country will never forget all of the people who where taken from us.

Dear Mike,
Just got your e-mail about Wednesday's show. I'll be watching & praying for you & the children. My middle daughter watched as I wept reading the tributes & just came in w/ an origami dove ( the symbol of peace) for your children. I'll send it on. I wanted there to be a tribute for you & the children from you Bishop's family. I never knew Amy, but from your description of what she did on that awful day, she was truly an angel sent from heaven. She had to be something special to be your wife, but I could never have imagined how special. Stay strong Mike & know we are all here. Kiss those children & pass on our love.

I carry in my Bible a list of all the victims aboard Flight 11 and I pray for the remaining families and friends constantly. With each prayer as I pray with the person's name Madeline's name always draws my focus. Even though I never knew her, I feel a special closeness.

I read Amy's story soon after 9/11 and was very touched. Her calm demeanor to the end struck me as "heroic" and I have never forgotten that. I was an eyewitness that day and lost several friends of my own. And not having known Amy, the best I can offer is that I will always remember her. And maybe that is the best we all can do, to insure she lives forever. God Bless you Amy. Watch over your young family and guide them.
August 21, 2002
We did not know you or anyone else who passed away on September 11, 2001. We will never forget you or what happened. May God Bless you and watch over the ones that you left behind. Rest in his loving peace forever more..........
August 16, 2002
The last time I saw Amy was during the holiday season in 2000. Amy was sitting with her two children at a local mall. She looked put together.

Our eyes met. I asked her if she was still flying.

"Yes," she said with a beautiful smile.

Amy and I graduated from the same high school in 1984. We also both flew with American Airlines.

I worked with Amy a couple of times during my six years with the company. I remember one particular six hour flight we flew together, Amy never sat down to take a rest...a true rarity for any flight attendant! Amy took pride in her job and it showed.

I thought about looking Amy up in the days following that tragic event, wondering if I knew any of the Boston crew that was involved.

When I saw Amy's face on the front of our local paper, I screamed.

What does one say to a family that has lost a daughter, wife, mother and friend?

Believe that Amy is still with you. She has been blessed with an array of people to keep her memory alive for her children. Know that she had made her mark in this world long before that horrible day.

My sincere condolences to the Todd and Sweeney family, as well as to her numerous beloved friends.

Amy, your bravery and calmness during a most horrific time in our nation's history helped to save many lives while yours was held in jeopardy. Your actions were remarkable on that fateful day in Sept and they will never be forgotten. I also live in Acton, MA where your dear husband and sweet young children reside. I've witnessed and have also been a part of our community in mourning. Now, whenever I have a bad day, I catch myself and re-think YOUR last moments on that fateful Sept morning. Your spirit truly helps to lift me over obstacles that come my way. My prayers are to you and your family Amy...may you and your loved ones always know that the peace of the Lord is always with you. May the dear Lord embrace your soul now and forever.

To Amy's family: God Bless you! I speak for myself and my family when I say how sorry we are for your loss. All having families of our own now it's an awful thing knowing that Amy will not be physically with her family as they grow. I'm sure her family and friends will share the many memories of Amy's life. Having known Amy in our youth, I just wanted to express my admiration for her valiant efforts and say thank you.

Such a beautiful woman and I am sure her beauty is a warm reflection of her heart. We are deeply sorry for your loss of Amy. May precious memories of time shared with her lighten the sorrow in your hearts. Our hearts cry with you.
America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

This is my small way of remembering Amy individually in this very public mass tragedy.
May God bless and comfort you in this time of such deep saddness.

There is nothing more important to those of us fighting for our freedoms, to recognize those who died and try to understand how the world will not be as it was before September 11, 2001. You will never know how much of history you became, or how much we look to those who were so ultimately affected by the actions of terror that took you from this life. May God bless those who miss you.

Dear Mike and Family.

Mike, I used to date your friend Peter with the BSO and do alot with you, Amy, Bobby and Wayne in Killington as well as Boston(the Black Rose). Before I moved back to Minnesota, you and Amy were expecting your first born and I had never seen either of you so happy. I am so sorry not only for your loss but for your children.

Let them know that she was loved by alot of people and also loved life, even though I am sure that they both know that.

May God Bless,

Amy, you were my flight attendant in August when I flew back home to California (via Dallas) from Charlotte. I sat in first class. I was really tired. I slept the whole way. I'd just spent five days and nights in a bedside vigil. My Granddad was very ill. When I passed you as I was exiting the plane, you said the perfunctory goodbye. But you gave me a long deep look that said a lot more. I somehow knew you were reaching out to me. Thank you for touching me that day.
I won't forget you. Laura

The story of Amy's courage and bravery has struck the hearts of so many Americans. She is, in every sense of the word, a hero.

To Amy's Family:
My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of this remarkable woman. I have just read a newspaper article about the bravery that she displayed during that horrowing flight. The courage that she showed and her calm demeanor will definitely help the investigators in their pursuit of these villians. You should be very proud of her, I know all in our country are proud of her. May God bless you and your family during this difficult time. The thoughts and prayers of my family, and the entire nation, are with you at this time. Sincerely, Rick Saunders.

I heard Amy's story on the radio yesterday afternoon, and cried all the way home from work. All I can think about are her two young children that lost their mother, and the husband that lost his wife. My heart goes out to all of you, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers for the rest of my life.

There are way too many sad stories out there with beautiful families broken apart by this horror. I hope that everyone in America will do something small to help these families heal. At my place of work, we are having a T-shirt sale and are giving all the profits to a family we "adopted." $6.25 per T-shirt goes to the family. The T-shirts have an American flag on them and say, 'Proud to be American.' It is very easy to set this up and to give a grieving family a little assistance. If you want to do this set it up through your local bank so that there is no chance funds will be mismanaged. God bless all the families and friends who are so sad right now, you have a million hearts praying beside you.

Not enough praise can ever be given to members of flight crews who spend virtually more time in the air than on the ground. Thank you for dedicating your life to the safety and comfort of the flying public. May all those who know and love you now take comfort in the memories of you that live on in their hearts. Americans will never forget your sacrifice.

Dear Michael, family & friends,

I wish to express my sincere sympathy on your loss. It's been 20+ years since I've seen you (you may not even remember me). When I heard the news of "Sweeney from Acton" my heart fell. As time went by I realized what I heard was true.

My prayers go out to you and your family.

May God Bless and comfort you in during this difficult time.
