And I will rejoice in Jerusalem and exult in my people; No more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or a cry of distress.” Isa 65:19. A wonderful promise for Matthew La Porte who is is surely missed prayers go out for all the families and friends.

April 16, 2012
Dear Mr. and Mrs. La Porte and Family,

Though it has been five years since that fateful day on April 16, 2007, for one herself who has felt the deepest pain of grief and loss I know it is only yesterday for your family. As our Great Savior expressed it in John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. The students that day were described as teenagers, but your son was truly THIS MAN Jesus spoke of and displayed it so greatly on that day. I am a friend of Senior Trooper Gary Chafin, and he has spoken to me of the great admiration he has for Matthew as a fellow soldier.

My prayers are always with you.

I wanted you and your family to know that your life story will continue to impact your fellow cadets both known and unknown. It did for me as the parent of a cadet. I hope your family has been able to find peace and joy once again. God Bless and take care of them.

Today, as most know, is the first anniversary of the day in Virginia that affected the lives of so many in its wake. On one level it is a wake-up call that mandates institutions to anticipate and deal properly with evolving technology and its consequencies. That said, may the lives taken in this tragedy have special meaning for us on this first anniversary day; may we never forget and may reason prevail.

La Porte Family,
Deeply Saddened For Your Lost.
May 06, 2007
To Matt's family and friends,
Our heavenly father Jehovah (Ps. 83:18) promises at Isaiah 41:10 - "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness." May you grasp hold of his hand and allow him to guide you through the coming days, weeks, months and years.
May you gain additional comfort from these promises:
Isaiah 25:8 - "He will actually swallow up death forever."
Revelation 21:4 - "and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
Since the loss of my husband on 9/11, I have been greatly comforted by the promises in the word of God.
May 05, 2007
To the La Porte Family:
I am so sorry for the loss of your son Matthew. His smile was so sweet it caught my attention. My son too goes to a military academy similar to Carson Long. It was the hardest decision of my life to send him away to this school and I pray everyday that he will grow up to be an outstanding young man like your son Matthew was and always will be.Please accept my deepest sympathy.
Sincerely,
May 03, 2007
We will never be able to measure adequately the loss to us, the living, and to future generations of the possibilities of these young people to the world. Their spirit is of and for the Ages.
May 02, 2007
To the La Porte Family,
Please accept are deepest sympathy for your loss and all our prayers for Matthew. My wife and I were shocked by the incident as we had no idea that Matthew's uncle is our good friend and former co-worker Rich Sosnowski.Rich often spoke highly of Matthew and would show me the picture he carried in his wallet as a proud Uncle!!! Once again our condolences and all the best to you and to Matthew's memory. Mr.+Mrs. Mannagotter

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the sparkle in the snow.
I am the shredded leaves that blow.
I am the sunlight on growing grain.
I am the gentle summer rain.
I am the quiet bird at night.
Circling about; Taking flight.
So do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
April 30, 2007
To The La Porte Family:
I am writing this brief note to your family because I so deeply feel that when we are faced with the sudden loss of someone so very dear to us that it is one of the hardest things in our lives we will have to face. Yet, I would like to share with you something that touched my heart, it is the knowledge that God will respond to our persistent prayers to help us through any tough time such as this. At Philippians 4:6 and 7 it says that "the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers." Please know that my prayers are with you at this time and I urge you to continue to pray for strength to get through the rough moments ahead.
April 30, 2007
RISE UP SLOWLY, ANGEL

Rise up, slowly, Angel.
I cannot let you go.
Just drift softly midst the faces,
In sorrow now bent low.

Ease the searing anger,
Born in harsh unyielding truth
That Death could steal my loved one
From the glowing blush of youth.

Rise up slowly, Angel.
Do not leave me here alone,
Where the warmth of mortal essence
Lies replaced by cold, hard stone.

Speak to me in breezes
Whispered through the drying leaves,
And caress my brow with raindrops
Filtered by the sheltering trees.

Rise up slowly, Angel,
For I cannot hear the song
Which calls you through the shadows
Into the light beyond.

Wrap me in your downy cape
Of sunshine, warm with love,
And kiss a tear-stained mother's face
With moonlight from above.

Then wait for me at sunset,
Beside the lily pond,
And guide me safely homeward
To your world,which lies beyond.

Just spread your wings and take me
In reunion’s sweet embrace,
And we shall soar, together,
To a different time and place.
April 30, 2007
To The Family of Matthew La Porte-My condolences go out to your family. Please know that Almighty God Jehovah has the power to resurrect our loved ones, for John 5:28,29 tells us: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." Dear LaPorte Family,
Though I did not know Matthew, I keep looking at his face and clearly see the features that are in common with my side of the family. Therefore I cannot help but think that we are related somehow.
I left Virginia Tech as a Professor Emeritus in 2003 after 21 years, so I share the Hokie spirit with you as well.
You have my thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy.
April 27, 2007
A brief moment of darkness
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.

Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.

All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.

I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.

I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.

A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.

Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine.
April 27, 2007
Although from Earth, our loved ones are gone
They live in our hearts as time goes on
God truly blessed us with the time that we had
Though their departure leaves us very sad

"Time heals all wounds" We've heard it before
A broken heart gradually begins again to soar
God works miracles in His time, not ours
Not by our wishes, but by faith and prayers

By each person he claimed, we were given a gift
Wonderful memories for our spirits to lift
Reunions and Christmas, and simple every day fun
To carry with us always, until our work here is done

Thank God for Kodak, for video and audio-tapes
And for the time together that this family takes
The message is clear from those who have started life anew
"We're waiting in Heaven for each and every one of you"

Each one would say "Don't cry for me dear"
"This place is wonderful, I wish you were here"

REST IN PEACE SWEET BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS ANGEL
April 26, 2007
Matthew La Porte was trouble at the start
Then ROTC he became a part
He gained many friends and just as man brothers
Airforce Special Operations Prep Team gave him a try
He did it all and finished on a list high
His toughness was physical and even mental
He was a leader with hint of gentle
Never complained about what had to be done
He had a sense of humor he was no stiff—he was fun
He played tricks with his mischievous spirit
He turned out better he had merit
Matthew the son, the friend, the leader who was good at what he did
For he’ll be remembered for his heart being in the right place—for being a good kid

I am so very sorry for the loss of Matthew's life - both for his immediate family and his Carson Long and VT families. It is just impossible for our finite minds to understand the senseless, brutal actions that resulted in his death. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
April 25, 2007
On behalf of the Members of First Christian Church, in Burlington Iowa, we want to express our utmost condolences at this most difficult time in your lives. May it be a comfort to you and your family and friends to know that you are being remembered right now and in the months to come in the thoughts and prayers of so many. It is our prayer that you will feel God’s everlasting love and presence in this time of sorrow and that you turn to Him for His strength to guide your way through these troubled times. May God bless this family.

April 25, 2007
We are heart struck over the senseless actions of one individual. Our thoughts are with you. After the tears stop flowing and the pain softens try to remember the time you shared with your loved one and the memories you made, Memories are eternal and forever and know one can take that away from you.
April 25, 2007
To the La Porte family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Just know that you aren't alone in your sadness... a whole nation grieves with you. I only spoke to Matt through the internet and myspace, but he was a shining light in the dark. He always had a way to make you smile on your worst days. He will be remembered always, he was a wonderful young man. He is a true hero and always will be, not just in your eyes, but everyones. Keep your chins up. All my love and deepest sympathies...
April 25, 2007
I am very sorry for your loss. I have experienced losses both anticipated and unexpected. When I was fifteen years old in my first year in high school, my mother died of melanoma at age 54 in December 2004; we were anticipating the loss. As with me, I am sure your loss is emotionally stressful for you and your family.

Your grief may ebb and flow. It has been said that each of us has this well deep inside of us that can be filled to the brim with grief. Every time we cry, we empty out some of the well. But the well fills again. The level of sorrow in your well may lessen as time passes, but it will never run dry. There will always be birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and those days when the well seems to fill to its brim again. Allow yourself time to remember and mourn. It is part of your healing. Grief is a continuing journey.
April 25, 2007
To the La Porte family,
I was deeply saddened to hear that your son was one of the victims in our Nation's tradedy. Just know that you do not mourn alone, we as a nation and the world mourn for your son and your loss. May God be at your side along with his angels, and guide you to take each day as it comes. In my heart I know Matthew is there by your side watching over you. May you remember all the good times, and try to laugh at the funny times. When the wind blows, when an eagle flies, when you see a butterfly sitting on a branch, its Matthew. Embrace life. I am so sorry for your loss. God Bless.
April 25, 2007
Matthew...I didn't ever have the chance to meet you, but from what I know about you now, you were a great guy. It was so heartbreaking to hear how you had everything going for you, and how quickly it was all taken away. Forever in our hearts...love you.
April 25, 2007
To the LaPorte family,
As a mother of one son who is an eighteen year old Jr. Army ROTC student, I have been deeply moved by the strength of character and wonderful accomplishments of your son. The photo of Matt just"stood-out" to me as I looked upon the photos of all those whose lives were lost that day. I felt very blessed to have learned more about his life on the website of Carson Long Military Institute. I have peace of mind that Matt is in Heaven right now enjoying the Presence of God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the"joy of the Lord be your strength" each and every day from this time forevermore. God Bless You.
April 24, 2007
It is so shocking what happened on that sorrowful day
In my prayers you will forever stay
Although we never met and I did not know you
This is a poem for you to say my adieu
It is a shame you can not be with us today
Due to everything that happened I am still in dismay
Now you are up in a better place
We will never forget your honor and grace
Please look over us, protect us from dangers
You are missed by your family and countless strangers
I wanted to let you know you are in the thoughts of many
Condolences and commiserations are aplenty
I bless your family hope they stay strong
In my thoughts they will always belong
I say to you and the other decease
I wish that you all rest in peace
April 24, 2007
We hope you can feel the power of all the prayers world wide being prayed on your behalf. Our prayer is that you will rest and peace and comfort in the arms of our loving Savior. We want to express our deepest sympathy. Thank you for sharing your son with so many over his lifetime. Thank you for letting us remember him even in his death. Just know we will continue to pray today, tomorrow and all the days yet to be.
April 24, 2007
May you one day find comfort in all that has happened. Please remember the way he lived not the way he died. Please know the whole world mourns with you!
April 24, 2007
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
April 24, 2007
I didnt know any of the people that passed, but this whole thing has gotten to me, alot. I am 15 years old and I'm a freshman at Crawford County High School in Roberta, GA. This tragedy has most definatley opened up the eyes of many people, even in other states far from Virginia. Even my school in this little town we know as Roberta are buckling down and making sure that our schools are safer. It has opened up my eyes to all the possiblities at schools, here in Georgia, Virginia, and all over the world also. My condolences go out to all the friends and family of the victims. I can't possibly begin to imagine what they must be going through. Stay strong, VT will pull through!
April 23, 2007
The joyful memories of Matthew will always live in your hearts. Matthew will be truly missed. May God give you comfort and peace during these tragic times.
April 23, 2007
God bless you

Mr& Mrs Laporte and Priscilla
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. It is my loss as well.He is and always will be my alumni "brother." Although I did not know him personally he leaves a legacy at Carson Long which is not only outstanding but makes us all so very proud that he is a graduate of our school and lived up to our schools mission..."To build and graduate young men of good faith, stout hearts and strong minds with high loyalty to the country and to the flag that are ashamed to die until millions yet unborn will find a better world because Carson Long boys lived."

Know that he will always be remembered and we thank you for letting him be a part of our school and Alumni brothers. It is an honor to have him and I salute the Laporte family.

A letter from Heaven

My Dearest Mother, Dad,Priscilla,

Some things I'd like to say
but first of all to let you know
that I arrived okay.I'm writing this from Heaven
where I dwell with God above
where there's no more tears or
sadness, there is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight,
remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on Earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
as for your dearest family
they'll be here later on.
I need you here so badly
as part of My big plan,
there's so much that we have to do
to help our mortal man."Then God gave me a list of things
He wished for me to do,
and foremost on that list of mine
is to watch and care for you.
And I will be beside you
every day and week and year,
and when you're sad,
I'm standing there
to wipe away the tear. And when you lie in bed at night,
the days chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on Earth
and all those loving years,
because you're only human
they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry,
it does relieve the pain,
but remember there would be no flowers,
unless there was some rain.I wish that I could tell you
of all that God has planned,
but if I were to tell you,
you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on Earth is o'er.
I am closer to you now
than I ever was before. And to my very many friends,
trust God knows what is best.
I'm still not far away from you,
I'm just beyond the crest.
There are rocky roads ahead of you,
and many hills to climb,
but together we can do it
taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too,
that as you give unto the World
so the World will give to you.
If you can help somebody
who is in sorrow or in pain,
then you can say to God at night
my day was not in vain. And now I am contented
that my life it was worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody
who is down and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up
as on your way you go.
When you are walking
down the street
and you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.
And when you feel the gentle breeze
or the wind upon your face,
that's me giving you a great big hug
or just a soft embrace.
And when it's time for you to go
from that body to be free,
remember you're not going,
you are coming here to me,
And I will always love you
from that land way up above.
Will be in touch again soon.
P.S. God sends His Love, I will always LOVE YOU!! Matt

Today is Memorial Day in Israel and as we mourn all of our fallen sons, I will say a special prayer for this fine young man.
May he rest in peace and may you never know sorrow.
May is death be the last senseless death of any of our sons.
April 23, 2007
Father we entrust our brother Matthew to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Matthew in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

It's so terrible that something like this can still happen in the year 2007...
You will forever be in the world their prayers, their thoughts, their heart!

I did not know you or your family. But I don’t believe there is a person in the world whose heart has not been touched by this tragedy. There is nothing in this life that brings us more sorrow than to lose loved ones in death. Even harder to bear is when the lives of loved ones are lost due to an unexpected tragedy. The shock can be overwhelming.
Be assured that God promises that he…”is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring us more peace of mind than the inspired words of… the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Take comfort and solace in the Bible's message as we all await the time when GOD…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)

To the La Porte Family,

Words can't describe the pain you're going through and words can't describe my feelings right now either. I was one of Matt's building officers at CLMI 4 years ago. I was only there for a year, but I was one of the people responsible for his well-being while he was away from home. I did not have the opportuinity to see him grow during his final two years at Carson Long, but I can say when he was a sophmore he often demonstrated a greater maturity than many student that were older than him. He always impressed me because he was polite, neat, and orderly. It took some time to get to know him because he was quiet, but as the schoolyear progressed I knew he was one of the most honorable cadets at Carson Long. I was only responsible for him for a schoolyear and its been troubling me that he is lost, so I can't begin to imagine what your family is going through.
April 22, 2007
My heart is hurting and there are tears in my eyes over the death of Matthew. Although I didn't know him personally, it is obvious from what others have written and said about him that my life would be more rich if I had. I'm sorry I never will. My prayers and those of all of us here in Virginia are and will be with you. I know he rests now with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

April 22, 2007
I am deeply saddened by the lost of your loved one. At times like these it is comforting to know that the Bible tells us at Acts 24 verse 15 that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. So with that knowledge, know that there is a hope that you will see your loved one again.
April 22, 2007

April 22, 2007
I was only at Carson Long for a year but i found out rather quickly that Matt was a real special person. Matt always followed his heart and did what he thought was right not what was popular and thats hard to find in someone these days. matt was one of a kind and he will be sadly missed but never forgotten. I think they said it best Friday at the Carson Long chapel "when you find yourself in a tough situation you ask yourself what would matt do"

I can still see Matt coming thru my door and asking if that would be all ma'am! He was such a good kid. Working at CLI gives you a privilege to have 200 plus boys to call your other sons. I can not imagine how you must feel. You folks are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure we did not realize Matt would be in a much greater and safer Air Force! He and all of GOD's angels are looking after you all.
Deepest sympathy.
April 21, 2007
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.

April 21, 2007
To the LaPorte Family:
I did now Matt, nor do I know your family, but I had to let you know that I am very sorry for your loss. I think Matt's life was cut too short, especially in the wake of him trying to become an asset to this world. I know there are no words that i can say to you as a complete stranger, to try to ease your pain, but try to take grace in knowing that your son is in God's hands. Again, I want to extend my deepest condolences to you on your loss.....May God be with you and your family, and all the families of this senseless act, at this time. Have comfort knowing that we as a community who feel your pain, will also pray for you and your family......May God Bless You and your family!!!
April 21, 2007

April 21, 2007
God bless the Porte family at this difficult time.
April 21, 2007
Matt was one of the most outstanding young men you could find at CLMI. He was one of my best students, extremely respectful and very, very funny. He was not perfect, however, I will always remember him running to formation 30 seconds late after squeezing in a shower before dinner. I must confess--I did make him do push-ups. But I also laughed with this young man, read his stories and cried when he gave his Senior Oration. He was a beautiful human being. His death is a tragedy and is something that I will never come to terms with.
April 21, 2007
May God grant your family peace, and know that America grieves with them.
April 21, 2007
We are all so sorry for your loss. May Matt rest in peace.
April 21, 2007
I did not know Matt, but come from the area. It is just absurd that his life had to be cut short when all he was doing was making a life for himself in a place he loved. I am sorry for your loss, and my prayers are with you.
April 21, 2007
May GOD bless you and keep your family in this time of need. For a young man who has turned himself around so, how proud you must be. He is now in the presence of GOD and the Angel's rejoice with much LOVE.

Sorrowful tears
well up in my eyes
For those who have fallen
like rain from the skies

Each life was so precious
so many are gone
May they shine now from Heaven
like a new morning dawn

I cannot make sense
of this tragic event
I offer my heart
and my prayers have been sent

Each one had a dream
Each one had a goal
Each one had a family
Each one has a soul

Life must go on
for loved ones so shattered
Reach to their hearts
and show them it mattered

For families so lost
For friends left to cope
I greive for their hearts
I pray for their hope

In memory of those who have fallen and for those left to grieve.
For those left injured in harms way...
I pray for peace and healing of your hearts.
April 21, 2007
I will hold your family in my heart forever.

To the La Porte Family:

I cannot imagine the depth of your grief, but please know that your son is in my prayers as are you and your family. I was a member of the VTCC in 2001 and am a proud Hokie alum. I know that all of the cadets, past and present, are thinking of you all. I am proud to know that Matthew La Porte was a member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. More significantly, he was a citizen of this world. I am sure he was exactly what this world needs. He will not be forgotten.

Respectfully,

To the family of Matthew, I was very saddened to hear of the sad news. God bless all!
April 20, 2007
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Mr and Mrs La Porte,

I am so sorry about your son.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." May you both lean hard on Him until you see one another again in Heaven. I have prayed that you each continue to trust in Jesus for the impossible (Luke 18:27). I once heard a widow say about God after the death of her husband. "He's with me. I'm with you." When I read what Matthews' Oration stated in the Carsonian, it made me think that he believes in Jesus. May you also trust Him now as never before. (Acts 16:28) "The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord and make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace". (Numbers 6:24-26)

Rest now, grieve now, and allow those who know you and love you do what they can to help you through this tragic time.

YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS
April 19, 2007
In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

April 19, 2007
May God be with you and your family during your loss!
April 19, 2007

I was so moved by Nikki Giovanni's statement that "Matty" was one of her favorite students. May God Bless you Matthew and your family. The Virginia Tech family shares in your pain.
April 19, 2007
You were so very young,
Your life had only just begun.
But now you're gone,
And we must carry on.

You brightened our day, EVERY day,
With your laughter and fun-loving ways.
You always wore a smile
I guess that was only for a while.

Matthew, why did they take you away
Couldn't we have kept you?
Couldn't you have stayed?
It's so hard to understand
But we must do the best we can.

We love you, and miss you
Our dear friend,
But we know someday
We will meet again!

We'll try so hard not to cry
At least we know...
It's only a temporary goodbye!

The LaPorte family: The whole world cries and mourns with you over your loss and the senseless loss of so many at VT. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding..."

This is a tragedy for all Americans. I know we are thousands of miles away, but we feel your grief and would take it from you if we could. Take one day at a time. It's not true that time will heal. I know that firsthand. But what will carry you is the grace of God and his love that he has for you. And, his strong hand that will gently lead and guide you each day if you trust him. Lean on him for he is strong as we our weak. We're praying for you all that you'll be strengthened and comforted with Gods peace.

Someone gave this to me and I pass faith on to you!

Virginia Tech Family,

"AS YOU TAKE
one step at a time,
HOLDING GOD’S HAND
And letting Him lead,
HE WILL GET YOU
Where you need
TO GO.”

Father God,
I don’t want to take one step without You. I reach up for Your hand and ask that You lead me in Your way. Thank You that no matter where I am right now… You will make a path from where I am to where I need to be, and You will lead me on it. I love that Your grace abounds to me in that way.

God Bless..words are hard to come by..
April 18, 2007

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
