So I'm in my summer internship right now, and they want us to find pictures of a leader in our life that motivates and drives us. Of course, you're the first one that comes to mind and always have been since I was born. It's amazing how even though you're gone you are still the footsteps I strive to fill and the role model for my leadership. I miss you so much and hope I'm making you proud, Myke. I love you cuz.

PFC Miller, as you rest in peace, I journey through this life still trying to keep it. My life as a Non Commissioned Officer evolves around taking care of Soldiers and preserving life as a Health Care Provider. It has been almost five years since the good Lord called upon you and to this day I assure you that my soldiers come first and they return home safely to their loved ones. I swear my life on this.

Dear David & Maria,
I haven't spoken to you since we were all together last May 2008 in honor of our sons. I think about you often, but I have been having a real hard time. My sons death Darrel Kasson has me in tears most of the time. I can't believe that it has been almost 2 years since I lost him. I want you to know my prayers are with you and your family all the time along with all the parents that have lost a son or daughter to this war. Life is so hard and the lose of a loved one puts a terrible burden on us all. I just want you to know your son gave his best for us.

My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Mykel’s bravery and ultimate sacrifice for his Country, makes him an American Hero to me. I only knew Mykel briefly while being in Afghanistan with him. Every time Mykel was around, the one thing I remember most about him was his smile and how proud he was. It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year. I will never forget him and his smile. The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Mykel, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Miller:

Sandra and I extend our deepest sympathy to your family and you for your (our) tremendous lost. There is not a day that goes by where I think about Mykel and the positive example he was for all of us. I had the honor of being Mykel's PRT commander and witnessed first-hand Mykel's positive and constant attitude. His sense of humor carried us through the hard times of deployment and his memory remains present in all of our lives.

Very respectfully,

LTC and Mrs. Jim Bramble

Please accept my most sincere condolences on the one-year anniversary of Myke’s death in combat. I was on the mission in which Myke was killed and I think of him often. I wear a bracelet inscribed with his name. I will never forget him, his good nature, keen wit and bright smile.

I am honored to have served with him and am fortunate to have known him. He was a fine young American and represented all that is good and decent about our great nation. Thank you for your sacrifice to our nation.

Rosario, as this year is getting ready to exit, I want you to know that you are still in our hearts. It's been a hard year with your lost, but I remind myself and others especially, your dad, that you are in a much better place. How is it up there? The girls must be going crazy over the most handsome soldier there. Thanks for being our HERO, this year and all the years to come. You will always be missed! I LOVE YOU ROSARIO!
December 04, 2007
Maria, Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We were shocked and saddened to learn of Rosario's death. We have nothing but fond memories of him. He grew from a gentle, polite child into a fine young man. He died a hero, fighting for our country. We hope you can find peace. Take care.
November 24, 2007
I would like to pass along my sympathies to your family. May God bless you all.
November 21, 2007
The loss of my only son Rosario has been devastating to say the least. Every day I wake up, hoping that it is simply a nightmare. But, slowly I am coming to grips with his loss. While we grieve our loss, we realize we have a lot to be thankful for and want to express our gratitude.
We give thanks for Rosario and the wonderful 19 years of life he shared with all of us. Rosario was fun loving and an adventurer. His smile, charisma, caring ways, and want for challenges were never ending. Whether he was climbing the rugged volcano “El Ruiz” in Colombia or quietly contemplating life, he LIVED. He enjoyed life and made sure those around him were similarly affected. His bright smile brought us joy.
We give thanks for Spc. Joseph Garcia. Spc. Garcia, an unsung hero, was seriously injured during the attack and remains at a rehabilitation hospital in San Diego. Spc. Garcia, we give thanks for your sacrifice, the price you have paid for our freedom, and pray for your speedy recovery. We are honored that you served with Rosario.
We give thanks for the many other men and women who serve in our military and protect our freedoms. But for their service and protection, we would not be safe to live in a free country.
We are grateful for the generosity and continuous support of our family members, friends, and community at large. Your support has made a difference. We are especially grateful to all of those who made Rosario’s send off so special. We are forever grateful. May God bless each and every one of you.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Israel and Liliana.

Dave,
Spoke with you today. My prayers are with you and your wife. Your son was a beautiful young man that I'm sure had a lot of his dad in him. You and your wife did a fantastic job and should forever be proud. Myke and your family gave the ultimate sacrifice and we are grateful. Our country is what it is because of this service and sacrifice. I just wish everyone that enjoys their freedom knew how strong and dedicated Myke was. God Bless you and know that your all in our prayers.

To the family of my dear friend:

In my 22 years, I have never met anyone like Myke, and I know that I never will again. He touched my life in such a short time so much more than most people ever will. While I miss him so much, every day, and while it hurts so much, I am forever grateful for the time I knew him. Thank you all for shaping him into the brave, wonderful man that he was. He spoke of you all often and with such fondness...especially his mom, dad and brothers. I know that I will see him again. That and patience will be enough, because I know that God had bigger plans for him.

With all Love and respect,

Chona and David,
Heartfelt condolences! Even though miles seperated us and we didn't get to know Myke as well as we should have or would have liked, we think of you and him often. He was a young man of CHARACTER and much of that he developed because of you two. We have regrets for not being there... We are so sorry!
October 13, 2007
To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

I met Mykel fondly called by "Chito" by my dear friend Jimme and his family when he was just a little boy. Though I didn't get a chance to know him as he moved with his mother to Arizona shortly after, I know that he was loved and cared for by his family. I still remember his loving face and as a parent myself, I can only imagine how difficult this loss is for his family especially his mother Maria. My thoughts and prayers are for him and his family.

Chona/David,

What a fine young gentleman you two had. David, I am so grateful to you. You made my nephew happy and proud. He got to experience what a real father is before he went to heaven. Chona, my dearest sister, you sacrificed so much to raise him. Mykel realized this as he became a man. What an incredible job you did. I know that time heals all wounds, pain and sorrow. Please know that I am here for you. I love you guys very much as I did "Chito".

The little boy that made me laugh so hard when he called the mailman a mailbox, the little boy that had me searching the city of Milwaukee for beenie babies because that was all he wanted that christmas. You have left footprints in my heart. I love you today as much as I loved you the day you came into our lives. You are my true HERO and you will never be forgetten. Your aunt Emilia

To the family of Mykel Miller, you have my deepest sympathies. Thank you for his service to our nation--he is a true hero and deserve the highest honors. He was too young to leave this world and know that he and his family are in the thoughts and prayers of many. Three months ago today on June 23, 2007, I lost my cousin (who was like a son to me), Capt. Darrell C. Lewis in Vashir City, Afghanistan. There really are no words to describe this pain, but I can tell you that God does help you to step forward even if you don't think it possible. Be strong and keep the faith and know that you are not alone. God bless you and God bless us all.

We were privileged to meet Mykel at a going away party for our grandson, Josh Grant, who is also serving in Afghanistan. Although we did not know Mykel well, his untimely death has left its mark on us. After reading the many, many entries on this guestbook, the same thing seems to be #1 -- his smile, which is how we remember him. We have the utmost respect for your son and his decision to serve his country. You must be very proud!

Only new Myke for the past 3 months. He
met me via craigslist.org in regards to my bike. I was a little worried about the international purchase and made him jump through hoops just to make the transaction happen. He told me his whole life story and wowed me with his passion for family, friends, and life. I'm glad to have known him. To Myke and his family I am grateful for having the opportunity to know Myke. I wish I could have met him in person but 3 months of e-mails and phone calls will have to be enough. GODSPEED, Pfc. Mykel Miller.

I sit here and all I can think is how Myke was supposed to be with us partying right now. Today was a hard day but when we rode our bikes away from the church on the way to the grave site and all the people and fire fighters were standing on the side of the road it made it not as bad. I hope you are riding hard up in heaven.

Israel,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I am very saddened by the news...Mykel(Rosario) meant the world to you. I still can't believe he is gone. He was such a happy child with a beautiful smile and heart to match--funny kid too. Honored and blessed to have been able to share time with him. As a child he wrote on a sticky note "I love you"...I still have it...a treasured gift from a child who knew at a young age how make someone feel special and loved. Today we celebrate his life, his caring ways and joy for life...our HERO

We will never forget him or his beautiful smile. He lives on in our hearts and memories.

I find my oldest son talking about the war and all the soldiers fighting for everyone of us...he say's a prayer for each of them when shown on t.v. (whispering "may they rest in peace"). I know he understands the sacrafices those men and women give to us. I'm proud that he has the heart and courage to say his prayers out loud for our fallen soldiers. I've never met "Myke", until now after reading about him and viewing the photo album. It would have been an honor to have met him in person. My heart goes out to your family and the hearts of those he touched. THANK YOU "MYKE" for your ultimate sacrafice...you are lost, but NEVER FORGOTTEN! We will remember you.

Judge Cruz,

I am grieved in spirit to learn the loss of your son. I too have children, and can only imagine your pain. Nonetheless, I know the hope of Glory found in Christ Jesus. This hope will keep you, it will sustain you, and it shall comfort and strengthen you. God is a very present help in time of need. Psalms 46:1.

Be encouraged in knowing ...your redeemer lives! Jesus calls Mykel Miller blessed. He said- Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:4. And blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:9.
May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding keep you and your family during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Mykel F. Miller. My heart aches for you, and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part be eased by the feeling of great pride for Mykel’s’ valor and deep sense of patriotism. He will always be remembered as an American Hero by my family and we will never forget the great sacrifice made by your family.

In spite of all that happened here in New York City that dark Tuesday morning six years ago, millions continue to live and work here without fear, because of our awesome U.S. Military. We still stand tall and proud here today, thanks to wonderful American patriots such as your Mykel.

To Mykel I would say you have made the ultimate sacrifice and did so willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedoms. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

May God be with you until we all meet a Jesus’ feet.

Most Sincerely,

Pat – NYC (6 miles from “Ground Zero”)

My thought and prayers our with you on the loss of your Mykel. We are so proud of our children for the pride, commitment and courage they have to serve their country. They make that commitment at so young an age knowing they might make the ultimate sacrifice. As a parent we live with the fear every moment that we will receive that knock on the door. There are no words that can truly express my deepest sympathy for your family for a life that has been taken so young.

My deepest condolences in the loss of your beloved Mykel. He served his country with bravery and valor and America is proud to call him her son. It is with heartfelt sympathy that we share your loss. Mykel was a hero to us, protecting the very idealogy of freedom that we cherish as Americans. Heaven holds a very revered place of honor for Mykel. We will lift him and your family up in our prayers each night. His honor and valor will NEVER be forgotten by us, and we know that Mykel rests now forever in the loving arms of God. May God grant you solace in the memories you have of Mykel, and may those memories you love so much bring you some comfort.
With deepest sympathy.

Judge Cruz,

Having appeared before you on numerous occasions, you know that I am rarely at a loss for words. However, I really have no words to express the grief I feel for you and your family upon learning of your son's untimely death.

What words could adequately express the humbleness I feel knowing that this young man was willing to pay the ultimate price in support of our country?

I praise God for the bravery of your son and will keep you and your family in my heart an prayers.

Please do not hesitate to ask if there is some way I may be of assistance to you and your family.
September 17, 2007
I am so sorry for your loss. I know there are no words that can ease the pain, bu please know there are many throughout America that thank you and pray for you and your family. Mykel is now an angel and is with his brother in arms. I know that he is watching over you and loves you very much. He knows how much he was loved. May the angels wrap their arms around you and bring you peace.

To the dear family of Mykel F. Miller
As you cope with the loss of your loved one, please know that our country also mourns for the loss of an outstanding young man who has graciously served us all in the United States Military. My nephew, Chase, is currently serving in the Marine Corp. I am extremely proud of my nephew and all other service men and women who put their lives on the line every day to preserve the freedom of our country. We live in the greatest country in the world and it is thanks to people like Mykel that will keep it the greatest. He will always be remembered as a hero and I sincerely thank him for the sacrifice he has made for our country and me.
May God be with you in your time of need and help guide you through such a difficult time.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss, and through you I extend to him my eternal gratitude for all he has done.

Terri Myers-a very proud aunt of a United States Marine

Judge Cruz,
We are so sorry to know of your great loss. I cannot imagine what it would be like to loss a son, but I know that we serve an omnipotent God. Lean on Him now and forever, He is always there for us.
Mykel Rosario, you are a Heroe. We salute you

Mykel,

Thank you, for being my Hero. Such integrity and conviction of purpose are only held in the heart's of truly great men we honor as heroes; our nation is the richer for having a man worthy of that honor. Your service and sacrifice will always be remembered in my heart. Thank you seems so inadequate...
I expect you to be riding along with me on my rides along the back roads of Florida forests. My next ride will be especially for you, Mykel, and I would be so honored to have you over my shoulder! Better get those wings in shape, my Ninja doesn't like slow!
Never forgotten,
Anne

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

“Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb”

Although your journey was short your glory came from the Joy and Laughter you brought everyone around you.

My thought's go out to Mykel's family. In these saddened times I hope you can find reassurance knowing that Mykel had touched so many people in his life. I was lucky enough to be one of them. Judge Cruz,
I am sorry to hear about your son. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
September 13, 2007
It was a priviledge to serve with you in the Arizona Army National Guard. You died doing something you believed in and my prayers are with you and your family that is left behind. My deepest condolences to Mykel's family and close friends; to the Arizona Guardsmen in the 158th Infantry who are mourning the loss of a comrade.

If I may offer a verse which helped in the loss of our child last year from PSALM 139:

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me
were written in your book before one of them came to be.
September 13, 2007
May God be with you and your family in your time of need. Know that you have a lot of support here at APC and that you are in our prayers!

Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Mykel in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

I pray every day for the safe return home of our men and women in uniform serving in this war. I will now pray for your family in this time of sorrow…for your son who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Stay strong and always remember the happy times you shared with him. Mykel will be your guardian angel watching over you from above.

With deepest condolences,

Myke looks very proud and distinguished in his uniform; he has represented himself, his family, and his country with honor and dignity. I can only say how sorry I am for your loss, but appreciate Myke's commitment to protect all of us. He was the epitome of the brave and strong. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

September 12, 2007
Thanks for the service your son provided to this country.
September 12, 2007
Israel,
I won't pretend to know your pain, for I cannot. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting your son, I know by reading these entries and seeing his smile that your passion for others was instilled in him. He'll be with you on every ride now, guiding and enjoying. I offer the following prayer for you and your family, may it bring the comfort it brings me when life doesn't make sense.
"Dear God, please take my hand and help me walk through this fire. Don't let me slip away, please hold me in your power. Help me see the light and to hold on tight, to have faith. Help me to learn what it is you want me to learn. Help me retain my dignity and help me to accept what I cannot change. Guide me...sit in my heart. Don't allow despair to swallow me. Please, God, show me a road out of here. Help me to find the strength to cope...and to grow. Help me to regain my health, my trust...please God. Carry me if I can no longer manage to stand, and set me under the shade of your tree so I can heal. Please show me the path to peace, and mend my heart. God, I am powerless in this valley of pain, please lift me up and always let me know your presence. Please be in my heart and take my shaking hand. Amen."
September 12, 2007
Myke,

Although we only knew each other for a short period your presence was exemplary as was your service to your country. The experience of meeting you and having you in my life will be with me always.

To Mykel's loving family,

Mykel was something special and I believe God has seen this as the only reason why he was taken from us so soon. My prayer's go out to you.
September 12, 2007
Although we been together in a short period of time we can say that he is a great cousin and brave man, may God bless his family and friends. September 12, 2007
To Mykel's Family,
I send you my deepest sympathy for your loss. I have gotten to know Mykel well over the months we have spent here in Afghanistan. He had grown in so many ways during the time he was here. Many people don't realize that God sends his Angel's to help us make it through the rough times, Mykel was our Angel. No matter what kind of day I was having, he would always find a way to make me smile. There is not one person here who's life he hasn't touched with his smile and quick wit. There is no way that the loss we are feeling can compare to what you are going through right now, but know this, he is loved and will always be in my heart. He will be missed, he is missed. God Bless you and your family.
September 12, 2007

Our hearts go out to you and your family on the tragic loss of your beloved son Rosario, who paid the ultimate price for freedom. Though fallen, he will never be forgotten. I am thankful for the opportunity of meeting him when he came to Indianapolis. On behalf of my family, please accept our condolences. I am writing to offer my condolences to your family over the loss of your HERO and one so young Pfc Mykel Miller. I lost my son in Iraq on May 6/2007, so I can well understand your pain of losing a loved one so dear.

When things settle down, I recommend that you contact a man named Michael Reagan @
www.michaelgreaganartist.com

He will draw one portrait of the fallen soldier. He does this for free and will draw any picture of your choosing. He has drawn presidents and other celebrities. My husband and I got one and it has helped me with the healing process. Michael is a truly gifted artist that captures the very essence of the person he draws. I look at my picture everyday and it gives me a connection that I cannot explain.

I pray you will be guided by a higher power to give you peace, comfort and strength in this time.

GOD Bless you and your family. Your soldier was a true American Hero and we are all very proud of his service.

Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I am so sorry for your loss. My brother is serving in Afghanistan and is in the same National Guard unit as Myke. I know it has saddened the entire unit Myke was serving with. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about him. He will be a hero in my and my family's eyes. God Bless.

I have just learned of the death of Private First Class Mykel Miller. As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

Israel, Words cannot express our sorrow for the tragic loss of your son. As a friend and a brother, I send my love to you and your family. "Without a sign, his sword the brave man draws, and asks no omen, but his country's cause."

Judge Nunez Cruz,

As many have reflected in these pages, no words can adequately compensate for your loss. Please know, however, that you are not alone. Your brave gave his life for our freedoms in the same noble manner as have so many before him. Know that the Lord of Hosts will not forsake you or your grief even in this most dark of times. Seek comfort in him and others that loved Myke as did you.

On this day in which we commemorate how these troubles began, it is your sacrifice that we honor as well and you specifically will be in mine and my family's prayers.
September 11, 2007
Judge Cruz,
We are so sorry for your loss. The Bible says in Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." As you mourn the loss of your son, may God comfort you and your family and strengthen your hearts. You are always in our thoughts and we will keep you and your family lifted up in prayer.

I last saw Rosario/Mykel when he was still a little boy, so it is hard to think of him as a grown man and soldier. Perhaps we always remember our children this way no matter how old they are. I am so sorry for your loss and for the sorrow felt by all touched by this man's life.
September 11, 2007
Judge Cruz,

I never met Mykel Miller but would have considered it an honor. Nonetheless, I could not be more grateful for his service and sacrifice. I am humbled by his example. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
September 11, 2007
We had the ceremony today.... Myke will be forever missed. I remember in Bragg we didnt get along so well until about 2 months in, heh I remember this perfectly. He came up to me and said "You know Heisey, I know we didnt get off on the right foot, but im glad we are becoming good friends." Heh... That and I dont know how many times he told me he would help teach me to ride when I got back. I love Miller like he was part of my own family, I hope hearing from us helps, my best wishes to you, God Bless.
September 11, 2007
My heartfelt condolences to Mykel's family. I served with Mykel here in Afghanistan and continue to serve with his comrades. He was a great person. Whenever I ran into him he always had a smile on his face, no matter what circumstances we happen to be facing. His smile I believe displayed a source of strength that was soothing to the soldiers serving with him. My fondest memories will be of Mykel relaxing with his buddies in our TV room, feet on the table and saying, "hey whats up SSG O". Relaxed, happy and smiling. My heart still aches at his passing and I am sure this pain will not pass soon as he made a great impression upon me. He will be sorely missed by me and all the others with whom he served.

Respectfully,

SSG O.

Dear Family; I have a son in the Marines, so we are praying for your family. Your son, Myke, was a true hero. His life was touched by those he was close to and his life will continue to touch others as they remember him. We are proud to say, he was one among others who gave their lives for the cause of freedom. For that we are immmensely grateful.
September 10, 2007
To the Miller family,

Our Grandson, Justin "Rusty" Creed, a good friend of Myke's was in the Humvee directly behind Myke's on that fateful day. Myke paid the ultimate sacrifice for defending freedom and for that we honor him. There is no greater sacrifice than to give your life for the defense of freedom and Myke did this with dignity and honor.

We pray for the safety and welfare of all our brave men and women who serve our country in every capacity and may God bless the United States of America!!

Proud to be Americans!!

Myke,
You were always with me since the day I was born. You were always with me when I had the worst trouble, and you are ALWAYS going to be with me, that's for sure. "Cousin" is too weak of a word to describe the bond between us. To me you were like my older BROTHER. Nothing can explain how much I miss you, and you know I won't ever forget you. I am so proud to be your cousin, and I'm mighty proud you told others I was like your 'little sister', and that will never change. I love you so much, no words can explain. Take care cuz. When the time comes, I'll party it up with you in heaven. Watch over all of us. We'll all be thinking of you, especially me. Love you,
Hopiat.
September 10, 2007
I am sending to your family my deeptest sympathy for your loss. Myke showed great bravery in serving our country to preserve the freedom which we all love. My daughter, Sarah Smith, has been serving in Afghanistan with Myke, and she was in the convoy on that day. My heart aches for you as I imagine your pain. God be with you and our brave servicemen and women.
September 10, 2007
Myke was the greatest person I've ever met with the most amazing personality and I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to meet a person like him. He would always be there when I needed him and could always brighten your day with just his smile. Myke is a true hero and will be forever missed. I will continue to keep him in my prayers along with his beautiful family. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and to all his friends. I'll never forget you Myke. And I'm sure that nobody else will either.
September 10, 2007
Myke was a really great person to be around on campus. It was always great to see walking around with the DV guards just laughing and having a good time. I salute him not only as a fellow class mate but as someone who served our country and gave the sacrifice of his life for us. He and his family will be in my prayers.

Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice to your country and its people.

Dear Israel Nunez Cruz y familia,
There are no words to express our feelings for the great loss you have suffered. Your only son, Mykel, is truly a Heroe, willing to fight and die for our freedom. It seems like yesterday that you were talking about that bike trip you were getting ready to take, where you would spend time with your son.
I cannot count the times you talked to me about "Rosario," and the pride your eyes showed was indescribable.
Your love for Myke, no one that knows you could ever doubt.
Our prayers are with you now that familia becomes a strong source of fuerza,

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

September 10, 2007
We are so very sorry for your loss. We only met Myke a few times and even wished him well at the Grants sending off party. He had a great personality and energy about him. You will be in our hearts and prayers.
September 10, 2007
Myke: I am grieving your loss. There are so many memories. From that reckless, smiling young man who hung out at my house, your prom date and high school days with Carissa, to your days at Baskin Robbins, and your company at the laundromat (when I first moved to that rental house)with dinner at the BBQ place . . . and let us not forget the dinner at Outback, where Carissa and I were so mad at you! Seems kind of silly now. Your smile, your sense of telling someone like it is really was -- straight up -- and your reckless abandon toward life are the things I will remember most about you. I was always proud of you and who you were becoming. I know that you and Carissa were best of friends, through thick and thin. . .even and in spite of this Mom, who sometimes got in the way. Thanks for all your years of loving her and for allowing me to be part of your life. You know you hold a special place in each of our hearts. We will take care of each other and find our way through . . .

Mr. & Mrs. Miller: Although we never met, your son held a special place in my heart and in my home. I can only extend my deepest empathy for you and Myke's younger brothers. Please know that he touched our lives and was so full of life and energy, that he will always live within us. May you somehow find peace within. His loss is tragic. As a mother, my heart breaks to pieces when I think of such loss. Thank you for sharing your son with my daughter and my family. He just belonged. May you find comfort in all of the words, stories and memories that we can share with you. May God grant you understanding so that you may find peace surrounding your loss, which was so untimely, that it makes no sense at all.
September 10, 2007
Mykel was the best student assistant ever! I remember his big smile, turned-up polo shirt collars, and his big heart. Mykel holds a special place in my heart.
September 10, 2007
I was only one of hundreds to have known this boy who has become a wonderful young man. I am proud of Myke and his decision to serve our country. My heart goes out to Dave, Maria, their family and all that know Myke, for their loss. He will be missed but never forgotten.

To the Family and Friends of PFC Mykel Miller,
I am deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved son. Our son-in-law SPC Creed spoke highly of Mykel. Mykel is a true American Hero and will be honored by his fellow soldiers in their continued missions. May Gods strength carry you through this most difficult time. You are in our prayers.

Mykel, you will truely be missed. You were a great friend to all and we will all think of you often. Thank you for all you have done for this country, YOU are a TRUE hero. Much love Mykel.
September 10, 2007
wow. I still can't believe that he is gone. He was the type of person that always made you feel better. when my son was in hospital he made sure to talk to me to pray that my son gets better. I think how happy he was to be there fighting for our freedoms, and how excited he was to be coming home soon to see his family, and to go on a little vacation with us riders up to Vegas. How we laughed that because we only had one big bed to share you would take the floor cause that would be the gentlemen thing to do.. plus. you laughed it's better than what you had been sleeping on for last year. I will never forget your kind words Myke, my love and prayers are sent to your family and friends.
September 10, 2007
We hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain. To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again. So rest in peace dear loved one, and thanks for all you've done. We pray that God has given you the crown you've truly won.

Our hearts are broken for your family, our son is also proudly serving the 1-158th, in Afghanistan, our boys may have been at Ft. Benning together. Our pride in these boys is even stronger than it was the day the graduated. Love and prayers,

David,Maria & Grandma
PFC Miller was more than just another Recruit to me. With his magnetic personality, large circle of friends, good looks and strong work ethic he was more like a little brother. He was always willing to help me in anyway and I enjoyed the long talks I used to have with him at Baskin Robbins about: tattoos, motorcycles, rims, steroes and best of all girlfriends! This has been a devastating loss and I hope someday you will have peace and know that all I wanted was to make him part of our family and let him enjoy some of the wonderful things the National Guard has given to all of us. With deepest condolences... SSG Jack Weaver
