I kinda like her acomplishments
Nancy was a genuine heroine. A woman who, having seen first hand the horrors that the Nazis were inflicting on Jewish people - she saw Jews who had done nothing wrong, tied to a wheel and being whipped - vowed then and there that she would do everything in her power, big or small, to help fight Hitler and his rotten party.
If ever anybody lived to honour their vow, it was Nancy. Time and time again she risked her own life in order to help allied soldiers, or those who asked for it, to escape from France; couriered packages at great personal risk of discovery which could have led to torture and the loss of her own life. Having discovered that the Germans had learned of her and were looking for a woman they'd code named The White Mouse, Nancy herself made the trip across rugged mountains, having to climb the highest peaks in order to avoid the Nazis and their dogs, on her fifth attempt - on other occasions she'd had to turn back due to one problem or another and it was later revealed that there had been a traitor in their midst, who had alerted the Nazis about a possible escape plan. So on a train ride on one of her earlier attempts she'd been alerted by a guard that the Germans were searching the train, and had to jump out of the window of a moving train, and avoid gunfire in order to escape, and live to make another attempt.
With the number of men she'd already rescued, Nancy would have had every right to rest on her laurels and take pride in what she'd accomplished.
But for Nancy, her vow was still not forgotten, and determined to help France and fight the Nazis, she was offered and accepted a role in the secret SOE organization. There she trained and learned many useful skills in espionage, unarmed combat and more; and having won the confidence of her instructors and the chief of SOE was parachuted into France in order to help organize local resistance groups.
From there, with help from her radio operator, Dennis Rake, or Den Den as he was affectionately known, she helped organize air drops from London containing vital arms and supplies for the groups which she'd assessed to be worthy fighting forces.
Not one to shy away from anything, Nancy often joined in the fighting alongside the men, and was as fearless in battle as she was all throughout her life. So much more I could say about this remarkable woman. She made a huge contribution to the war in France and was a key figure in helping France in its liberation from the Germans.
RIP Nancy, you led a remarkable and inspirational life.
Condolences to the family and friends of Nancy Wake. In God's word, the Bible, he says that one day soon man will not learn war anymore - Isaiah 2:4 What a glorious prospect for all mankind to live in peace and harmony together on earth forever!

I had the honour, privilege and joy of meeting Nancy Wake in London on July 15, just 23 days before her passing. I was in London for a three week holiday and before leaving Australia for the UK, I arranged for the meeting through her nursing home and her solicitor. My reason for making the effort to visit her was the greatness of her character that was apparent to me, from reading her autobiography (twice), and from watching her down to earth answers to various inverviewers. Her solicitor made it very clear to me that there were to be no photographs and no autographs or signing of anything, to which I readily promised. My seventy minute session with her was beyond my expectations of this bed-ridden, almost ninety-nine year old lady. We discussed many things, but principally two of her prominent colleagues from the SOE and the Marquis, and her famous 500km bicycle ride. She used many expletives throughout our conversation and was very politically incorrect. Her eyes were full of life and it seemed that she had perfect eyesight, as something from the newspaper article I'd brought with me caught her eye, even though she was not wearing glasses. I had with me her autobiography. With a twinkle in her eye, she asked me if I would like her to sign it. I said I'd love her to, but that I'd given my word that I'd not get her to sign anything. In fact I'd deliberately not brought my pen or my camera. I must say though that if I had brought my pen, I would have been tempted to accept her offer; she clearly wanted to give me something, and this was the only thing she had to give. I spoke to a nearby nurse about Nancy's offer but the nurse would not accept the responsibility. After seventy minutes had passed, it appeared to me that she was somewhat exhausted, so I bad her farewell. Her last words to me before departing her room were "Close the door".
Nancy Wake was my hero. To a little girl growing up in
the late 1950s, Nancy was brave, independent, and a
role model like no other. I wish I could have met you Nancy.
Re-united with Henri - Heaven will never be the same.

Her story has inspired me for 20 years since I first heard of her! I stand on those moral values that uphold humanity, and as with her, I am willing to lay down my life if so required. (That's easy to say, but not easy to do. She did so with great energy and valor!)
RIP Nancy. You were an amazing woman. I've never forgotten meeting you about 20 years ago - such was the impact of your energy, personality and history.
This is inspiring personal and social history, which we all need to learn about in schools, universities, on television, in films and through the net.. finally after many years I have found a heroine with whom I can identify. Keep having fun, Nancy! Enjoy your reunion with your husband...One day our souls will commune...Meanwhile, congratulations for remaining true to yourself, cheers!

Great lady, great life! In war and peace. In 1949 and 1951 she ran against Labor for the Australian Liberal Party and NEARLY won. On both occasions lost by just a handful of votes. Australia's loss!! Thanks to HRH Prince Charles for his reported kindness and support over the last decade or so of her remarkable life.
What an amazing, brave and intelligent woman! May God bless her soul for all she did to help save others from the terror of the Nazi regime. May she rest in peace.......
A true inspiration to all, men and women alike. May she rest in peace, she surely deserves it.
One of the heroines of WW11, will we ever see her like again.

A few years back I read Russell Braddon's book "Nancy Wake" and then heard that she had had to sell her medals to get by. I determined to meet her and found myself priviledged to buy her several gin and tonics in the bar at the Stafford Hotel, her war-time London base. A remarkable woman whose feisty character was undimmed by her increasing lack of mobility at the time. If you can find a copy read the book; published by Cassell, the flyleaf has a fitting epitaph - "Nancy Wake was born to be a leader of men. Her story is a tale to thrill a nation."
What a magnificent woman. Thank you and Rest In Peace. When Hollywood does the movie, I hope they get it right and do her memory justice.
I knew Nancy for forty years,I am the son of Lt E.F.Levene(Felangue)who was also an S.O.E.French Section Agent.

I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy about 12 years ago and have read her book many times! She was and always will be a true heroine. A strong and fiesty woman who Australia should be proud of! RIP
Every Aussie should read her book 'The White Mouse'. It should be a book on the compulsory reading list for all schools. She was nothing short of a remarkable, brave woman. A great Australian who was never properly recognised by the Australian Government for her bravery.
