You're always with me, Ned. You are a great inspiration and a kind soul. I hope you found solace in the end.
Thinking of you often, and missing you always. Rest well, ned.
Mr. Vizzini's death was an impact upon me; I read of it in the New York Times and Long Island Newsday. Soon in 2013, I wrote a blog post focusing on suicide and giving a note to his passing.
The blog site was deleted online. But the cartoons (from that blog site) I drew about suicide were saved and later published in my first book, 57 Pages: A Short Book of Thought Motivating Cartoons.
One of the key qualities I appreciate about Ned with his books he was reaching out to help others. He also was conveying an understanding that the helpers need assistance also and be seeking the support of others.
It is not a healthy decision to end one's life. Mr. Vizzini's death should not be in vain in aiding us to pay attention to ourselves in maintaining favorable mental, emotional health. All of us need to love and to be recipients of continus loving beyond the extent of suicide prevention.
I wish to convey my sorrow to Ned's family, friends and close associates and to his readers for their immense loss. I look forward for them and myself of enjoying a future with no sorrow and pain and outcries, thank you for reading here my expressions.
Curtis W. Jackson
His book changed my life. Wish there was a grave or memorial to visit.
Thanks ned for writing a book that helped me get through my tough times, I'm sorry you couldn't get through yours
Ned Vizzini was a very inspirational man and I looked up to him greatly. Having been suicidal in my early teen years and depressed in more recent years, I have connected to his writings greatly. The first time I read "Its Kind of a Funny Story" it gave me hope for the future. It saddens me deeply that he took his own life, especially after he has saved so many. I remember when I saw the article of his death the day after, I kept to myself and cried. Ned was a beautiful man who has impacted my life in many ways and I hope that his soul is at peace wherever it may be.
Until you meet again God be with you
I didn't know this happened. I'm very sorry for the families loss. Ned was so different in his writings from any other author. I loved this man, and felt as if I could connect with him in all of his books. I wish he was still here to continue to give the world something special with his words. You are very much missed.
His writing changed my life. I look up to him a lot, as an aspiring writer suffering from mental illness. I would have loved to meet him in person to thank him for everything he has done. Rest in Peace, Ned Vizzini.
Rest in peace and bliss. You are loved. Always.
Ned Vizzini's books got me through the darkest parts of my life and I only wish he could've made it as well. The world truly won't be nearly as great with him gone. But I hope that his wife and son will continue to live for him and that his son grows up reading the amazing stories that his father wove. I hope he found peace.
Ned Vizzini is one the most important people in my life. I desperately wished I could have met him. It's Kind of a Funny Story completely changed things for me. I cried the first time I read it. I deal with depression as well, and I felt the same exact things he did. He put what I was feeling into words, which I thought I never could do. He taught me that even when everything seems lost, things can get better. When I learned of his death I cried for hours. My heart goes out to his family and everyone else who loved him. Ned and his books mean the world to me. He will be deeply missed. RIP <3
I wish I could have met him in person. It's kind of a funny story changed my life, I will forever be thankful for him.

Ned Vizzini, while I never actually met him, was one of the closest people in my heart. His book, "It's Kind Of a Funny Story", gave me strength and hope when other words couldn't. He understood real problems and put them into explanatory words when I didn't know how and this book made me understand myself as well as Craig. Hearing of his passing was a blow to the chest, but I will never forget one of the greatest teen writers of all. Ned, and Craig, will always be in my heart.
I am sorry to hear about the death of your son. My heart goes out to your family. The loss of a child is a heartbreak that friends and family may not fully understand. Yet, God recognizes the pain you are experiencing and keeps track of your tears as if collecting them in a bottle. (Psalms 56:8) Rely on Him for strength during this difficult time. My condolences.
Thank you, Ned. Your worthy pain was and is forever ours.
My sincere condolences at the loss of one so dear. I hope that knowing that God shares your sorrow and wants to be a refuge for you now, gives you peace and comfort. Psalm 46:1
My sincere condolences to the family & friends of mr vizzini. May you find comfort in Gods loving arms and in each others love and support . He sounds like he was a wonderful person and touched many lives in a personal way.
I had the pleasure and honor of working with Ned this past year. A true inspiration to a young aspiring writer like myself. He was a dedicated writer, friend, and family man. He will be greatly missed and I won't ever forget him.
With deepest sympathy to the family of Ned Vizzini.
May the God of comfort provide you with strength and comfort to cope with your loss.
Poor Kid. Suicide is such a mystery to us all. It goes against all instinct in us all. Some demonize it, some worship it, but all are affected by it. My heart goes out to his family and friends and I am sure he is out of whatever personal torment he was in at the time. I truly believe he is now at peace.
I personally didn't know him however I lost my wonderful soulmate husband to suicide 6 years ago. My heart goes out to his wife, child,& other suicide survivors. It's a terrible thing when this happens. I'm so very sorry. Know U r in my prayers. God bless U/give U peace.
My teenage daughters and I read with such pleasure "Teenage Angst…. Naah? Since I come from NYC I could tell them all about the things I knew of the places Ned wrote about. We LOVED that book. It got one of them started on reading for fun. & I think it really helped them get through high school & college apps. I haven't read his other books but am going to now. Especially since one of my girls suffers from mental illness.
Sending you love … let the world know if you set up a fund of some kind. WE will contribute.
Ned helped so many people with his words, gave hope to never give up fighting this horrible illness called depression. I'm heartbroken that his battle is lost. It's such a loss to the world and my prayers go out to his family and friends. He will never be forgotten, may he found peace at last..
So sorry to hear about Ned and his struggle for inner peace. At least now, we know his fight is finally over; he now lies peacefully in a deep sleep called death. May Ned's wife find comfort in knowing that God is greater than our hearts. He knows that we are made of dust, imperfect, and have deficiencies. In spite of this, all of us including Ned, are precious in His eyes. [Psalm 72:14]
To the Vizzini family, The axieties of life are hard for many to cope with these days (Ecclesiates 7:7). But take comfort in knowing that your loss has not gone unnoticed by God, and he will give you the comfort and strength you will need to endure the days ahead.
I have read Ned's story and saw him in a few interviews, he touched my heart so much!!My son 20, has been hospitialized three times this year for mental illness. We spent a lot of time visiting him and meeting the other patients on the floors. There were so many wonderful and normal people just in need of help. Sometimes just loving the person is all you can do.I'm so sorry for your loss.
God bless the Vizzini family. Ned, you were such a fun, goofy, intelligent guy and you are now with God resting in peace. Your suffering is over and let this bring some comfort to your family.
Ned, your books have changed my life for the better. They have given me the strength to go on, and more or less saved my life.
I am so sorry to hear that you won't be around to see the impact that your books will continue having on those who read them and my thoughts and prayers are with your family always. I pray that they can stay strong in this time of great sorrow.
Although I never personally met you, I feel like I have through connecting with you through your words.
May everyone who is affected by this tragedy find the strength to pull through.
I hope you have found the peace that you were looking for.

Ned's brilliance and insight will remain with me forever. I am so sorry that this world will no longer be enriched by the incomparable insight and knowledge he had to share. I can't begin to imagine his family's sense of loss and frustration at such a tragedy. Rest in peace kind soul, you left your mark. Sleep in heavenly peace.

May he now rest in eternal peace and may his loved ones find comfort in their faith and each other as they travel towards healing and peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with this young man's family tonight. He has done so much good with the years he has been with us. Probably saved alot of young people.
Dear Family ;How very sad for this great loss. Jesus himself spoke of a time when creation itself will be set free from enslavement to corruption and have the glorious freedom of the children of God. Romans 8:21
Ned, it has been a long time. Always thought I would see you again. Met Ned at Hanks Saloon in Brooklyn on Halloween in 2006. Didn't know he was a successful writer. We became friends immediately but lost touch because we had a sudden spat. All I can say is, he brought out the best in underdogs. The nervous ones. The girls and guys who weren't right to the world. That was his gift through his books and his friendship. God Bless You Ned with peace. Goodbye
Ned, your words have inspired me in a powerful way. You will be deeply remembered by me for the way that your books were there in a time I needed them.
I hope you find peace
Deepest deepest sympathy. Keep praying, Let Your Kingdom come! May you look forward to warmly embracing Dear Ned again. Nann

Family and friends can gives us a degree of comfort. At times, however distress is beyond human remedies. Only God can give us comfort regardless of how distressing our situation may be. His word assures us He is near and hears our cry for help.(Psalm 145:18,19)

To the family of Ned Vizzini: I am so sorry for your loss. Life in this world can be so difficult for so many. Please take comfort in what the Psalmist wrote at Psalms 86: verse 5, "For thou, Lord art good, and ready to forgive, and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee." Only God knows the true pain Ned felt and he loved him as he does all his children.
May the peace of God be with you.
I cannot find appropriate words to express the gravity of this loss. So many stories yet to be told. I offer my deepest sympathy to all in mourning; my friendship, support & understanding to Sabra & son.
Sad news. Godspeed Ned. May God comfort his family.
Good vibes, happy thoughts, healing prayers & much love sent up.
Ned Vizzini wasn't just an author to me, he was a hero. A man who gave me hope that maybe one day the therapy sessions & depression will stop. He's now my inspiration to help others who feel as I do, even though I'm still struggling, just as he did. My deepest condolences to his wife & son. I know nothing I say will make this any easier, but know he was an inspirational man who saved my teenage life, who kept my alive. He was a husband, a father, an author, human, & a life saver. Many prayers & good vibes for the Vizzini family.
May you find the light after so much darkness.
You won't ever be forgotten. Thank you for helping everyone in this cruel work.
Ned shaped the person who I am today. By the book "it's kind of a funny story", I started to realize that suicide wasn't the answer. That living and to keep trying was the answer because things will get better. I'm honestly so heartbroken that he did this, I don't know what was going on in his life but it must've been something really bad for this to happen. Yes, I'm sad. But I'm not mad or going to call him selfish. He was an amazing, intelligent, wise, and a very funny guy who I will never forget. The legacy in his books will be around for years to come. Thank you Ned, for everything to did for me.
Great author, sad to see his struggles get the best of him. His books will forever be a part of my collection, although it is overwhelming to realize there will never be new material from Vizzini.
I'm so sorry. I was so impressed by the truly kind person Ned was and how he brought a message of hope to teenagers facing the pressures of high school and growing up. He came to our library when without my knowing it, a young fan invited him out to the public library in Metuchen, NJ and then gave Ned my email address. After chatting with Ned online a bit, I told him we were a little library with little money and I offered him what I could. I gave Ned my work schedule and asked him to think about my offer and if he was interested in making the trip, to call me. I was so surprised when he called the next day, 5 mins. after I walked in the door at work and accepted my offer. Ned's visit was spectacular and he connected so well with his audience. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.
Devastated is the only word I can use to describe how I felt learning the news of Ned's death. As a producer of a tv program for a young adult audience I appreciated how he inspired everyone who met him. I will not forget our relationship and send deep condolences to his family.
Ned, you suffered and plodded through this life in a nightmare of hopelessness. My prayers and thoughts go with your soul and ask God to grant you peace and love for eternity. The nightmare has ended. Rest in peace.
It is a sorrow to lose a beloved one. May God remember him personally. Malachi3:16
Please accept my Deepest Sympathies
God keep him and his family
I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of comfort be with you. Sickness in any form is so sad. We have a hope at Isa 33:24 which tells us that "No resident will say I am sick". May you all have peace. Romans 15:33.
I am sorry for your loss. Be assured of God's love and comfort.1 John 3:20- God is greater than our hearts and knows all things.
May the comfort only God can give be with the Vizzini family.
SINCERE SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY,KNOW THAT GOD IS NEAR TO THOSE BROKEN IN SPIRIT."HAPPY ARE THE MERICIFUL,SINCE THEY WILL BE SHOWN MERCY."MATT.5:7...DEE
