December 19, 2010
It's been a long time now since You passed away but i feel as if it was just yesterday. I do not know but I also feel like as what others are feeling, that eventhough I do not know you personally, the pain of lossing someone.

I wish I could visit the place where you had grown up and gathered most of your memories and to eventually bring you flowers to where you are now rested...

I know, that will still be too soon but for now, I'll remember you and your family in my prayers.

I wish you could say my regards and hug for me my mom and sis when you see them in heaven.

Rest in Peace Nodar.

To the Kumaritashvili family, your loss is forever felt around the world. My connections to Georgia and the love of her people grow even stronger as I learn more about Nodar and his Olympic dream. My daughter was born in Tbilisi. Everyone we met in Georgia treated us with such love and respect. We too have lost our only son, but we gained the love of something I could have never imagined there in Georgia. Please keep Nodar's dream forever alive. The world needs to know more about such a wonderful place and such wonderful people as Nodar!
March 23, 2010
Originally, Nodar was supposed to carry the Georgian flag at the opening ceremonies. Learing about this brought tears to my eyes. However, there was another celebration that took place that day... Nodar entering Heaven, carrying with him a flag of Truth, Honor, Kindness and Humility -- passing legions of Angels and The Faithful -- towards God, who, with outstretched and loving arms, welcomed Nodar, saying... “Well done my good and faithful servant!”
March 21, 2010
Dear Parents of Nodar, please know the World grieves with you at the loss of your Beloved Son. Canada came to attention to mourn your amazing boy.
March 13, 2010
Nodar, It seems like forever without you here. I know it is only a month but it feels longer. I know that you can hear me up there and know how much you meant to me and your family. You will always be a special Olympic hero to everyone. And the loss that your family and friends feel is great. Rest in Peace my dear one. Love you.
March 12, 2010

I pray for your family, may our Lord give them strenght until you reunite in Heaven. Rest in peace, Nodar, fearless hero!

To David, Dodo, and Mariam Kumaritashvili, I am so very sorry about what happened to precious Nodar. One night recently while I was crying and so worried about Nodar, a message came into my heart. The message was, "Nodar is safe; I've got him!" I have asked God to tell Nodar how proud you are of him. I believe that He has.
My heart is joined with yours.I share with you the heaviness of losing him and the hope of seeing him again.
March 02, 2010
Please know that the prayers of the world are with you.
March 01, 2010
Rip Nodar Kumaritashvili. :( Even though I did not know you my heart goes out to you and your family.
March 01, 2010
I am a licensed funeral director and when I heard that Nodar was killed in an accident before the 2010 Olympics had started my heart went out for him, his friends and especially his mother - Dodo, father - David and his sister - Mariam, and of course all of his relatives and friends at home and at the Olympic.
I watched everything except for the crash on my computer, saved pictures of Nodar from the memorial service in Vancouver, B.C. to arriving home, his visitation, funeral and at the grave site.

I am still upset about Nodar's death and feel very emotional just thinking about what he had gone through. Nodar is my hero and a Gold Medalist.

My prayers go out to Nodar, his mom - Dodo, his dad - David and sister Mariam.

Rest in Peace Nodar.

Harold Jewell F.D.

I have been profoundly affected by this brave young man's senseless death. After hearing of his death, I could not bring myself to watch the luge - probably never will watch it again. Seeing his photos - how young, innocent, handsome he was - is almost too hard to bear. My heart breaks for his family. May he never be forgotten.
February 28, 2010
Please join me in my belief that his spirit and soul will live eternally in the flame that is never extinguished.
February 28, 2010
To the family of Nodar,

My heart goes out to you. I know your pain. I lost a son 5 years ago. He was 35 and the father of 5. He too was killed in an accident. He wasn't an athlete. He was my son. So I know your paralyzing and incredibly deep sorrow.

So now, you are in my prayers. Time will heal your deep sorrow. Only God and time. And your boy will remain deep in your hearts forever.

May the Lord richly Bless you and Keep you and make His Face to Shine upon you and give you His Peace.
February 28, 2010

Just want you to know that we have not forgotten your son, brother, nephew, cousin, all the things he was to everyone in his life. The world feels your pain and loss. His coach was right when he said he probably saved lives by giving his, cause the course was changed. Sorry it had to come to that. On behalf of all Canadians, I am so sorry for the suffering you are experiencing.

To Nodar's family. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that the whole world is in thoughts and prayers with you. Not many of us reach the Eternity at prime of their lives. Nodar did for his exceptional courage and unbreakable spirit. He will always be loved and remembered. He was a beautiful young man and now he's in God's arms, spreading love over you. God bless you.
February 22, 2010
Even more than week later, I am still distraught about his death. I have never met him in person, but I get the impression that he was a very nice and sweet person. He was also very brave to run the course, even though he found a turn on it to be terrifying.

I find myself thinking about the things that he'll never get to experience, such as marching in the opening ceremony, knowing which place he would have gotten in the Olympics, or getting married and having a family of his own. However, I take comfort in knowing that God has a bigger purpose for him. He and his family have been in my prayers.

Nodar is a hero and inspiration to us all.
February 21, 2010
I am Georgian living in the USA and when I heard about this tragedy it was devastating for me. I have been following the news and I can't stop crying everytime I imagine what's going in a small viallge of Bakuriani in the hearts of his parents. It is devastating when parents have to outlive their kids, I never wish that to anybody... Ghmerto shen mieci dzala mis mshoblebs am sashinel dros...

If Courage is defined as the ability to put one's fears aside for the sake of doing one's job, then Nodar's legacy is one of Courage. I sincerely hope his family and friends are able to find comfort in knowing that people around the world have been inspired by Nodar's strength and character. February 20, 2010
Lord God, You who gave life to Your servant, Nodar, lead him now to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing, but only life everlasting. And since You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, remember him and forgive him every sin he ever committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life.

May his memory be eternal.

Prayers that Nodar's family be comforted in the belief that he is with God.
February 20, 2010

It happened a week ago today and I'm still bothered by the death of this young man. Coming over here to Canada with such high hopes. Instead of going home next to his friends with a medal, he goes home alone in a pine box cold of any emotion. I feel for his family and how they must be suffering. He is at peace now. God needed him more so he took him home. Rest in peace Nodar, you will get your medal in heaven. Patsy
February 20, 2010
Everyone is very proud of Nodar for coming as far as he did and fulfilling his dream. He seemed like someone who was easy to get along with and will be missed by many. February 19, 2010
Anyone who has gone through the agony of losing someone we love so much will still wish against all odds to have that person back again. We know no amount of hope can bring to life for someone that rested in peace. We must remember it may rain 40 days and 40 nights but still it won’t rain forever. One day the pouring will stop and there will be plenty of branches where we can find rest. He just temporarily left us, we may sometimes forget him and his face, but his good memories with us will always remain in our hearts.
February 19, 2010
The whole world is very proud of Nodar, who worked hard to become an Olympic athlete. My own sons are in awe of the dedication and sacrifice that Nodar has made for his country. Our hearts ache for your loss. The world has lost a champion.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was so sorry to read about the loss of your beloved Nodar. The death of a child is hard to accept. The Bible helps us to realize that death is like sleeping. Note this: "For the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.

The dead young man was the only child of a widow. On seeing her extreme grief, Jesus was moved with pity. So addressing the corpse, he commanded:Young man, I say to you ,Get up! And the man sat up, and Jesus gave him to his mother. This is the hope for all who have faith in Christ Jesus.

Your Son chose a sport and competition that tested beyond most. He was obviously very brave and bold. He passed away in the arena of his choice, competing and fighting against the best in the world. Very few young people would take that risk, test those parameters. I know your sorrow is great. God bless you as you deal with this tough, tough time.Take some solace knowing that he is now in God's care. I wish you peace, hope and strength as you move on without his presence here. Look forward to spending eternity with him in Heaven. He was a brave man...he will be remembered.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

An Olympian Son

Someone’s son
“Have fun” a mother yells
And the story tells
He grew to be a man
Young and free
Trusting the earth
Beneath his feet

And when it became ice
Oh so nice
It was, because
It was a thrill
From the top of the hill
To speed so fast
To feel so alive
On icy glass

And become so good
He would be
For us to see
To fly, to glide
With dreams inside
Awakened
Olympics 2010
Then
Before it could begin

Someone’s son
“Nodar, have fun”
A mother yells

And the story tells
He did
Have fun
An Olympian son
Will forever shine

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I feel so bad for the parents of this young man. Putting aside for just a moment his manner of death, the fact that any parent would out live their children in so beyong comprehension to me.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In 1964 racing driver Bruce McLaren wrote the following about the death of his friend and fellow driver Timmy Mayer, but the words also apply equally to Mr. Kumaritashvili"

"The news that he had died instantly was a terrible shock to all of us, but who is to say that he had not seen more, done more and learned more in his few years than many people do in a lifetime? To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one’s ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone."

I just want to express how truly sorry I feel for Nodar's family and friends. Such a terrible loss during what should have been a shining moment in his life. I hope some comfort can come from the fact that he was doing what he loved and was pursuing his dreams at the time of his passing. May God be with you all at this difficult time.
